In honor of our 50th Anniversary, I wrote a poem for Betty. We were married June 8th, 1960. I have written a number of poems to her over the years, but I wanted this one to be extra special. I was going to surprise her by singing it to her on the following Sunday (13th) at church. Then I thought, ‘what if she doesn’t like it’.
So, I brought her into the church auditorium, got my guitar, and proceeded to sing to my little darling. We both got teary eyed and she asked if she could sing it with me. Well, that Sunday morning, we both sang our song. We had agreed to sing the words without thinking about the words so we would not tear up. My son, Eddie and his family, was there that day to go on a cruise with us. He said, “Dad, I like your song, but I think your music needs mixing with additional instruments.”
We hope you enjoy our song, “We Saw the Rainbow Through the Rain”. Betty and I enjoyed singing this song together and pray the message will be a blessing to those of you who have spent many years together.
