Satan does not care how he ruins the destroy your life just as long as he does. Satan must use your sinful nature. If you don’t have a desire for something, he can’t lure you. You can’t lure a rat with cheese that the rat didn’t have within it the desire for cheese. Satan couldn’t lure you if you had no sinful desire. And Satan can destroy the Christians. That’s what wrecks the home. That’s what causes teenagers to become rebellious. That’s what causes the sick are on the way, even after we know Christ is Savior.

So he says here in verse 8, Dint came Amalek and fought with Israel in Rephemed. Now remember, they had crossed over the Red Sea into the wilderness and they were on their way to the Promised Land. And who met him on their way? Amalek. You trust Christ as your Savior is like cross in the Red Sea. We are going through through the wilderness is kind of like on our way toward maturity. You see the land of Canaan is kind of like the Christian victory place, the land of promise of person who is mature in the Lord that can claim the promises of God.

And God says that we’re on our way toward maturity. On your way there, there’s someone who wants to stop you from reaching maturity to keep you from being the kind of a person that you ought to be for the Lord. His name is Amalek. That Amalek lives within you. Every one of you sitting in this room have a little Amalekite living within you. So if you will look at the flesh, nature that you have, and call him an Amalekite, that way you know who he is.

And then you know what he does. It’ll help you in having victory in your Christian life. In verse 9, Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him and followed Amalek. And Moses, Aaron and her went up to the top of the hill. And he came to pass when Moses held up his hand at Israel, when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

But Moses hands were heavy and they took a stone and put it under him. And he sat there on it. Aaron and her stayed up his hands. one on the other side and his hands were shed into the going down of the sun. Now look up here. The flesh lust against the spirit, the spirit lusts against the flesh and this battle goes on inside of your own life. And so you’re the one that determines which one wins by which one you hold up.

One man said it’s kind of like having a black dog and a white dog living inside of them and they’re always fighting. They say well which one wins? He says the one I say sick them to. You have within you this constant battle going on. Now notice what he says in verse 14, and the Lord said unto Moses, write this for a memorial in a book and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua for our utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

There is coming a day when the Bible says in the book of Revelation that we will remember the former thing was no more, but we’re not in heaven yet. We’re still here and we have to deal with that Amalekite. So you have an Amalekite living within you, just like I do. And the Amalekite that lives within you has only one goal and that is to destroy you and keep you from getting to where God wants you to be. He does not want you to have a Christian victorious life.

In other words, he wants possession of this land. The Amalekites wanted possession of the land that God had promised to Israel. And the Amalekite that lives within you wants possession of this land, this piece of property. But God says this piece of property belongs to the Lord and to your new nature that God placed within you and not let the Amalekite have it. And so the Amalekite is fighting against your new nature for the possession of this piece of property.

So he says here in verse 16, for he said, because the Lord has sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation, perpetual war. You are going to have war with that Amalekite that lives within you until the day you drop dead, until the day you die that a Malachi is not going to let up. You’re going to have to battle them all the days of your life. Like it or not, that’s the way it is.

Now turn in your Bible to the book of Deuteronomy chapter 1. There’s three verses that I want to read to you and show you that what God had promised to Israel they could have. It says in verse 6 the Lord our God speak unto us in horrib, saying ye have dwelt long enough in this mouth. Turn you and take your journey and go to the Mount of the Amorites, and at all the places neither unto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the south, and by the seaside, to the land of Canaanites and unto the Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

In other words, have you felt that you have been complacent and stationary long enough and it is about time you did something with your Christian life like advancing and moving on and going further than you’ve ever gone before. You see in your property this piece of land that I’ve got up here which is kind of like the ancient nation of Israel this property up here there’s an Amalekite trying to take control of this property. There’s also my new nature that God given to me, my new birth, and God says it belongs to him.

So they’re both of them fighting over this piece of property up here. And God says it’s about time that you claimed every area of this territory for the Lord. He says, now, whether it’s in the hills and the valley and the plains and over to the sea and the graver of Euphrates, all of it. Now many Christians growing in the Lord is learning how to have the Lord control more and more of your life as you get older. You see when you first trust Christ’s Savior, your child of God, but you don’t really know too much about walking with the Lord.

And there might be just a couple areas that you might dedicate to the Lord, but not everything. And you learn a little bit more and you realize I can trust the Lord in that area of my life. And then you learn a little bit more than you realize I can trust the Lord for that area of my life. Coming to maturity is where you can trust the Lord in every area of your life. Now there are some creatures who are very strong in certain areas of their life and then very weak in other areas of their life.

But every area in your life that you are weak in that has not been totally dedicated to the Lord is an area that the Amalekite will attack you in. Don’t you know that that Amalekite that lives within you knows your weak points? He knows your strength and he knows your weaknesses. Haven’t you ever noticed that when you hit down and discouraged it seemed like that’s when everything seems to fall apart he knows what he’s doing. You need to understand the battle that goes on inside as you.

It says here in verse 8, Behold, I have set the land before you go in and possess the land which the Lord swear unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them, and to their seed after them. Now if God’s will, that they not only cross the river, but to get into the promised land that God had promised to them, you see the difference between being a child of God and a man of God is the word of God that lies between.

And so you go from one stage of a child of God, which when you trust Christ to save, you’re all a child of God. But many children of God never mature to where they can trust the Lord in every area of their life and be used of God to carry out spiritual responsibility. Many of God’s children stay bathed all their life, and so babies don’t carry responsibility. Babies run from responsibility. Adults are supposed to be found faithful, dependable. Now are you spiritually responsible for the things that God has given to you to do, to fulfill things to be, ways to live, standards to have, convictions to have?

You may have sit still long enough and then move on to other things. Genes is 25, tells about a man who had two sons. Jacob and Esau. In verse 27 it makes this statement, and the boys grew, this is on page 38, and the boys grew and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field, and Jacob was a plain man, dwell and intense. And Isaac loved Esau because he did eat at his venison, but Rebecca loved Jacob, and Jacob sought potage, and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.

And Esau said to Jacob, feed me, I pray thee, with thy same red pottage, for I am faint. Therefore it was his name called Edom. And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. And Esau says, Behold, I am at the point to die and what prophets shall this birthright do to me. Now if you have trusted Christ as your Savior, you need to understand your birthright. In other words, the rights that you have by birth. When you’re born into God’s family, there are rights that belong to you as a child of God, they’re called birthright.

Did you know that you have privileges that you never had before? God is now not just God of creation. He is now your heavenly Father. You are His child. You can talk to the Lord. You can ask God for things. You can expect things from God or protection and to plan all of your needs. there are privileges that you have because of who you are. You are a child of God. Esau did not value his birthright, the right that he had as a first born and was willing to give up his birthright for a mess of pottage.

Now some of us as God’s children are very easily led to give up an awful lotamoto a message andAbove And the Lord says, you are going to reap what you sow. So be wise, don’t let a moment of being faint and weary and well-doing cause you to give up everything that belongs to you. You see, whenever… whenever you sell your birthright you have prohibited yourself e e e e e e e e e e ython e e e e e e e e e e e e 896 e e e e e rebellion against any truth.

You must be willing to follow and obey any truth. And God’s Word, regardless of where it may lead, whatever the consequences may be. And that’s why it behooves every Christian to not only know the Word of God but to have a teachable, a sensitive spirit to do the will of God. To obey whatever the truth is that you learn from God’s Word. But it says that Edom is is the name that was given to Esau. Now, turning your Bible to the book of Malachi, chapter 1, the book of Malachi, and notice there in chapter 1 of the book of Malachi, chapter 1, and look in verse 1.

In verse 1, it says, The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi. I have loved you, sayeth the Lord. Yet ye say wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother sayeth the Lord? Yet I loved Jacob, and I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage ways for the dragons of the wilderness. Now how would you like to have been Esau? God says, I love Jacob, but I hated Esau. Did you know that God ever hated anybody?

I didn’t know God hated people. How would you like to have been Esau and have God who created the heaven and the year to hate you? But remember, this is not talking literally about Jacob and he saw. It’s only representative now look up here. Which one was born first? Esau was born first. Esau is a type of the flesh. Jacob came second. He is a type of the second birth, our spiritual birth. Now God says he sees us when we trust him as our Savior in the Spirit, not in the flesh.

God hates the flesh at sinful nature that we have. This sinful nature, remember we gave him. name. His name is Amalek. He is an Amalekite and it’s the Amalekite that was keeping God’s people from getting into the promised land. He was the one that was destroying them. He was the one that’s always warring against them. God hates the flesh. God says that no flesh should glory in his presence. Curse it is the man who put his confidence, his trust in man or in the flesh.

Paul says, I have no confidence in the flesh. Turn your Bible now to the book of Genesis in chapter 36. Notice in verse 8, Esau was called Edom, had a grandson. And you’ll see in a minute what his name was. And verse 8 says, Thus dwelt Esau in Mount Seir, Esau is Edom. And these are the generations of Esau, the father of the Edomites in Mount Seir. These are the names of Esau’s sons and it goes through all these things and names them down in verse 12 and Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau’s son and she bear to Eliphaz Amalek now the word Amalek got Underline it that’s Esau’s grandson Esau’s grandson Now remember you generally will have the first born persecute the second born.

In an illustration similar, remember it was Cain who was born first and Cain did what? He’ll label. Then you have Esau who was born first and he persecuted Jacob and hated him, wanted to kill him. You also have the story of Ishmael and Isaac. And through Ishmael, he was a son of a bondwoman, and that’s where the Arab nations came from. But then you also, you have over here, you have Isaac, through God says, through him the seed would come, the Messiah would come.

And so that’s why even when you find out you’ve got Saul and you’ve got David and Saul persecuted David. You have this battle all the time used throughout Scripture. Remember, in the Old Testament, we have stories that illustrate doctrinal truths that we read in the New Testament. So that’s why the Old Testament was written for our admonition because they are the applications that we need to apply to all the doctrine that we get in the New Testament. Though we learn many doctrinal truths, we need those stories that that helps us to come alive, we understand what it means.

And God says in the 19th Psalm, he says, in the testimonies of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple. So these testimonies that God has given are stories about real people doing real things and their decisions, whether to obey God or not to obey God, and the consequences of it are to help you and I to know how to face life and what we should and should not do. So there will know the results of things. If I know the result of something before I do it, it should either make me or prohibit me from doing that.

If I know that if I serve the Lord God is going to bless my life, then I should want to serve the Lord. If I know the result of sin and what it’s going to do to my life, then it should cause me not to want to fulfill that desire. And so he says here that there is Amalek. Now look in verse 31 of Genesis chapter 36. And these are the kings that rained in the land of Edom before they rained any king over the children of Israel.

That means that Esau ruled and his generation before any king ever got to the land of Israel. Remember it says in the book of Genesis in chapter 5, and this is the book of the generation of Adam and the day that God created him, and he lived so many years and he died and So many others lived so long and they died now remember Adam was born first and everyone who’s born of the flesh is born before you’re born of the Spirit And then in Matthew, in chapter 1, the first book in the New Testament when he says, this is the book of the generation of Jesus Christ.

Talk about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all those people, but there’s no death recorded. Because see, this is a spiritual birth, this is a flesh birth. And Christ says that which is born of the flesh is flesh, that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. So you have these two births. You have also that is mentioned here. The king ruling in the flesh before the king of Israel ever ruled in Israel. The land of Israel and the story of Israel is like a picture of an individual soul.

For example, picture Israel as a person. Think of the nation of Israel as a person. That means Israel had a miraculous birth. was born as a child of faith because of Abraham. Remember that whenever Isaac was born, he was a miraculous child. Abraham was already a hundred years old and his wife was 90 years old. So his being born was not of the flesh. He had a miraculous birth born by faith. So the nation of IsraelThankfully is actually a miraculous child and the nation of Israel can never be destroyed.

Now you may destroy as a nation over there, but Israel itself, the people, will always be. And so now for six thousand years, they’re still in Israel, or four thousand years. There’s always an Israel, but they haven’t always possessed the land. Israel is a type of an individual who has trusted Christ as Savior and battling for the possession that God’s given to him. That’s why when you trust Christ as your Savior, you are always a child of God. You can never be be destroyed as a child of God.

You’re always his child, but now you may not always be in the land and always possess this body the way God wants you to. And that’s why sometimes you won’t always read the right things and you won’t always study the right things and think the right things and do the right things, but you’re still God’s child, but you won’t possess that body, that property that God gave to you. And God will have to chastise you forth and because of it God chastised Israel many times because of their sin but they were still God’s people.

So when you trust Christ as your Savior your God’s child and if you don’t do what God wants you to do with your life, yes God’s gonna have to chastise you and maybe even take you out of your land. They may take you home before your time. Turning your Bible to the book of Deuteronomy chapter 25. And Moses trying to help the children of Israel to understand what they should do when they get into the land of Canaan, lay down some guidelines for them, put them some things to do and things not to do, some things to remember and some things not to remember.

But verse 17 says, remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt. How he met thee by the way, and now notice what Amalek did. Now what Amalek did to them, Amalek will do to you, because you as a child of God, you have the flesh living in your property, just like they had to deal with Amalek. At that time you have the same thing. In verse 18, how he met thee by the way and smoke behind most of thee.

Even all that were in your unblindest, feeble behind thee, when thou was faint and weary and your unblindest, and he feared not God. That flesh that lives within you, that sinful nature that you have, does not fear God. And if you listen to Amalek, Amalek will convince you you don’t need to fear God. You see, the sign of wisdom is the sign of a man who fears God and a man who fears God hates sin because you know what it’ll do to you.

It doesn’t mean you don’t sin, but you hate it. And he says here in this verse, when thou was faint and weary. So here’s all about two million people coming out of the land of Egypt, going across the Red Sea, going through the wilderness and on their way to the Promised Land, and they had the Amalekite types that were picking up the stragglers. Those who became weak and disheartened. Think by the way. Do you ever think about the scripture that says that whenever we as God’s people are running in a race and talk about be not weary and well doing, do you get weary doing right?

Do you wise get weary obeying your husband? Do children become weary and obeying their parents. So the husband gets weary of doing right and going to work and providing for his family. You get weary of doing the right things. That’s when the Amalekite that lives within you can attack you and he can defeat you. Remember this, the Amalekite that lives within you is stronger than you. But you need to keep in mind greater is he that is within you than he that is in the world.

And the only reason that you can win over the desires of the flesh or over the Amalekite is because your confidence is in the Lord. Kind of like this boy was talking to this other boy walking down the street. He says, my daddy can be your daddy. He says, big deal, so can my mother. That’s not much comfort when you don’t have either one of them that are very strong. But if you had the Lord walking with you everywhere you go and you know that the Lord will fight your battles and the Lord can give you the strength and the grace that you need to do what’s right and to stand strong even though they may be stronger than you they’re not stronger than him and the only way they can what me is they’ve got a what him and I’m sitting close to him don’t that make sense now the only reason

the flesh or amalekite will destroy you is because you’ve got too far away from the Lord yourself and you’re not walking within and you become weak and then it says the amalekite is going to destroy you. I was talking about that sinful nature that you have within you. He’s more powerful than you know. If somebody came up to your door and knocked on that door and that person told you I am the most wicked. I’m the ballast. I’m the most destructive individual you’ve ever met in your life.

And I like to come in and spend time with your wife and kids because I want to rape your wife and I want to kill your children. May I please come in? And you say, well, of course, would you do that to a man that you already know what he’s like, what his goals are? Would you open your door and invite him into your home? Not if you got any sense at all. The Bible says that that old sinful nature that you have, that a malachite that lives within you, says the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked.

What’s desperately wicked? The malachite. Where does this a malachite live that’s so desperate and so wicked and deceitful? And who can know it? It’s that Malachi that lives within you that Jeremiah is talking about. That’s why he is not to be trusted. That’s why God forbid that you should trust your own judgment. That’s why you should trust God’s judgment. That’s why it’s why to seek two or three godly individuals for counseling when you want to do something because that a Malachi will deceive you.

He’ll lie to you. He’ll tell you whatever you want to hear. He can convince you of almost anything. He just has to find you void of knowledge and he’ll fill that vacuum and you’ll find yourself having it very hard, very difficult, kind of discerned is what I’m doing. Is it of God or is it of the flesh? I can’t tell. It means you lack the knowledge to discern because remember the Amalekite is very good at what he’s doing. He knows your strength, he knows your weaknesses, and he’s waiting for the right moment to attack you.

And that’s what destroys your family. That’s what destroys his. Destroyed husbands and wives. Destroyed structures.
