And what would you do about somebody who says God said and God didn’t say? Well, there’s a the script that it deals with that too. Look in Jeremiah 23, Jeremiah, just the next book to you right, Jeremiah and chapter 23. Jeremiah 23, and look in verse, this is starting verse 24, I want you to see this, because remember he says, there were prophets in the Old Testament, and also there were false prophets among them, and We need to know how the false prophets worked, especially with Jeremiah.
Everything Jeremiah had told them that God said there were false prophets. There’s a God didn’t say that. God didn’t say that. This isn’t going to happen. Well everything that Jeremiah told him that was going to happen. It happened. He was called the Weep in Prophet. I mean the guy suffered consequences because he said God said and God did say they put him a pit, muddy, nothing to eat, cold. They did all kind of things to Jeremiah. And the one that were false doesn’t happen to them for a while.
But anyway, in Jeremiah chapter 23, look there in verse 24, can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? Sayeth the Lord. Have you ever thought of that? See, God, He can only see doing the daytime. That’s why everybody does most of their sin in at night, because God can’t see at night. You don’t believe that, do you? Can God see just as good at night as He can in the daytime? Yes, He can. Does He see everything that you do?
Can He even tell what you’re thinking? knows your motive? He says, do not I feel heaven and earth sayeth the Lord. In verse 25, I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name. So God even knows when they prophesy lies. When you say God said, God said, I didn’t say that. So he’ll blame a lot upon his prophets because his prophets did not take a stand. He says, you are like dogs that can’t bark. You know what?
Most people have a dog, because they want them to bark. Use it not in the house you don’t. But unless somebody comes to the door and then that dog just, you know, acts all up. But the reason that people had dogs is because the dog, and they put them in the yard, so the dog would bark. But he says, there’s people that are God’s preachers, and they’re supposed to bark. They’re supposed to warn. And there’s preachers that don’t know how to bark.
There’s preachers don’t know how to bark. There’s dogs that couldn’t bark. So he says here, he says in verse 25, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. I don’t remember somebody saying, I ain’t got a dream. Yeah, yeah, I got a dream. And it would be great if everybody would listen exactly what, to be judged by the color of your skin, but by the content of your heart. And most of the people that vote today is not by the character, but by the color of their skin.
White sometime will vote for a white man because he’s white. But if a black votes for a black because of the color of his skin, it’s just as racism as the other. You’re not judging by what is he saying. What’s he saying? What’s the character of this person? Wouldn’t it be great if all of our politicians were honest people? Regardless of their color, the color has nothing to do with your character. Either you got character or you don’t have character.
And a bunch of them are quite some characters, I’ll tell you. But he says, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. He had a nightmares with you, Ed. So in verse 20, he said, how long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesied lies? They are prophets of the deceit of their own heart. You know that even possible among preachers and evangelists. And verse 27, which think to cause my people, talking about Israel, to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
Now that made God mad. And that’s why they were going into captivity because they had false prophets saying, hey, if things cool, no problem. Verse 28, the prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream. And yet on the line this part, he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chak to the wheat? In other words, all that other stuff is fluff, that’s chak. But my word is the wheat. It’s something that’s good and solid.
It’s got the carnal of truth. So he says those who have my word preached my word and those who have the chat tell your dream But your dream ain’t gonna come true, but my word is true. That’s why he says we have a more sure word of prophecy We have the scriptures. We have the word of God Verse 29 verse 29 you ought to on the line in your Bible. This is an awesome verse is not my word like a fire Sayeth the Lord and like I hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces.
I have used the word of God for so long I have seen the word of God and the truth of what God has to say I’ve seen that break some of the biggest the meanest the strongest fellows and The will that people have and I’ve seen God just crush them And remember whenever Christ was talking to those two on the road to him and they says did not our hearts burn within us When he opened unto us the scriptures Heart burn within you.
Isn’t there time whenever you’re here in the Word of God or you’re sitting there and you’re reading it and it just burns inside And you feel like I just got to do something. They got to do something you want something to happen something to be different I love these scriptures verse 30 says therefore behold I am against the prophets say of the Lord that steal my words Everyone from his neighbor steal my words by not letting people know the truth.
You’re stealing from other people. He says here in verse 31, Behold, I am against the prophet, saith the Lord, that use their tongues and say, He saith. Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams saith the Lord and do tell them and cause my people, get this, cause my people to air by their lies. So is it possible that false teachers can have an effect upon God’s people? Yes. So there are false teachers in the world, false preachers, and they make merchandise of the people.
They’re not really in it for the best of the people, but it gives them a following. And they’re always talking about how your faith is demonstrated by you giving me money. They’re going to have that seed money. And you’ll see how God’s going to bless you. So you run to the mail and see if that check came in. And they have a health and wealth philosophy. And there’s some on television that’s they don’t want to talk about sin because that makes people feel uncomfortable.
And you know, and people flock to those churches and support them by the millions. Now only we can do that because people don’t know the truth. They don’t know truth, or they wouldn’t do something so stupid. But they do. But get what he says. He says here in verse 32 again, I want to see them. He said, Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dream that saith the Lord and do not tell them and cause my people to tell them and cause my people to err by their lies and by their likeness.
and get this, yet I sent them not, nor commanded them. Therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the Lord. And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest shall ask these saying, what is the burden of the Lord, or the word of God? Thou shalt then say unto them what burden? I will even forsake you saith the Lord. And as for the profit and the breeze and the people, what that shall say? The burden of the Lord, I will even punish that man and his house.
So God says that he is not for these people as he says down in verse 36, the last part of it said, for ye have perverted the words of the living God. So God gets upset. That’s why when we pray for the Lord. we teach the Bible, we have a little fear that we say that God said and God didn’t say that because we know that we’re going to have to count to the Lord for what we say. Does Sunday school teachers have to give an account someday for what they teach for the children?
What you caused them to believe? Did you realize that even in your own home what you caused your husband or your wife or your children to believe God takes seriously. And you are not to give false impressions about God if it’s not true. You’re not supposed to make people think things about God if that’s not true. Because you can leave people away, cause them to believe something that’s not the truth. We all have to answer to what is truth and God’s word is true.
Go back there to with the book of 2 Peter and 2 Peter and 2 Peter and 2. And notice what he says in verse 2. Now this is because there’s false teachers, false teachers gonna get them a following. And people are gonna listen to him. It’ll sound so good. So he says in verse 2, and many shall follow their pernicious ways, the ways that lead to destruction. Then he gets over into also telling them things that will happen and he says they were kind of like the doctrine of Balaam.
You’ll notice over here in verse 15, looking verse 15, we’ll cover this more in detail later, but looking verse 15, which have forsaken the right way and are gone astray following the way of Balaam. The son of Bosear who loved the wages of unrighteousness but was rebuked for his iniquity. The dumb-ass As speaking with man’s voice forbade the madness of the prophet, these are wells without water, clouds that are carried with the tempest and underlined the last part of that verse, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever.
So their day is coming, but they do make an impact. And so teachers that know the truth, the trusty Christ is Savior, can fall into air, and they can fall in the air and begin to teach, contrary to what the Word of God teaches. This is why the children of God, the people in the church, you should have a copy of the scriptures, you should learn the Word of God. But you do have to be careful who you listen to, because a little 11, 11 at the whole lump, a little air that you don’t get satisfied in your mind can lead you astray.
I didn’t see that happen so many. lead you in a total direction that you never thought that will ever happen to you. I sit in Bible college with young guys that were going to serve the Lord all the days of their life. And we graduate and next thing you know, as the years go by, they don’t want anything to do with the Bible. Church, don’t win souls anymore, don’t do anything. Oh, they’re glad to have eternal life, glad they’re going to heaven.
But they got set on the shelf and then never used. It didn’t have to be that way. But little by little see, something happens in your life. You get led away, whether by the lust of the flesh or the desire for other knowledge. And sometimes the knowledge of this world begins to compete with the wisdom of God and they can’t discern the difference and it destroys them. He says here by reason of whom in your honor the way of truth the way of truth shall be evil spoken of and Begin to say things against the Bible cause you to doubt the Bible Doubt the basis that you’ve learned years and years ago and lead you astray and that drop what?
I just don’t believe that anymore. I don’t believe that anymore. I don’t know anything in in 45 years that I have changed on my doctrinal position that I got when I was at Florida Bible College. What they taught me then in the doctrinal statement, I still believe it today. And I don’t know if I’d change on any of it. I try to teach it a little bit better and maybe a little bit stronger here and there, but believe pretty much the same thing.
And so he says in verse three, and through covetousness, The desire for money, position. Power, fame, whatever it is that the man has that underlying motive of his own. He says, with fame words make and you ought to underline this merchandise of you. They want to use you to get what they want. And so they will teach you things and lie to you in order to get a following so that they can become this somebody. And sometimes they actually believe that they are teaching the right thing.
So the people are to know the words so that you can detail whenever the ha ha. That’s not right. That is a right. And you can ride down the highway and you can turn on your radio and listen to somebody on the radio and say, uh-huh, that’s not clear. He ain’t right. And you can tell and detect certain things. But you listen to air long enough and after a while, it becomes yours. You have questions and doubts and don’t get questions and doubts satisfactorily answered for you.
It won’t be long before some of those questions and doubts. Now they’re yours. And your belief is going to be something that leads you astray down the road. But it happens slowly without you ever knowing it. So you got to be careful. But look what he says, whose judgment now of a longtime lingroop nut and their damn nation or their judgment slumber if not. So now God opens up the scriptures to us and tells us, For example, and he gives us several examples here of those who believed wrong and what happened to him.
So you can’t just believe anything you want to believe and think there’s no consequences to it. So he says in verse 4, and the angels, if God spared not the angels that sin, that means they sinned and God didn’t spare them the judgment. In other words, they believed something they shouldn’t have believed and they did something they should not have done and there was a price to pay, but he cast them down to hell, a place called Tartarus, you know, you’re usually only placed in that scripture.
They delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved under judgment. So that’s what God did. Did they get away with it? No. Verse 5, and spared not the old world, but he saved Noah the eighth person. Now this is telling you again that there were eight people they got in the ark and that Noah was a preacher of righteousness. Now when you go back to the Old Testament, you might not have known that, but the Scriptures here tells us something about them there.
And lo and behold, we know that Noah was a preacher of righteousness. Look there in the book of Jude, just a couple pages to your right. And look in Jude and look there in verse 12. He talks about some false teachers and false preachers. He says in first, these are spots in your feast of charity. In other words, your feast of love. He says, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear, clouds they are without water. they look real, sound real, just that they aren’t real.
Do you know that the preachers that don’t believe that salvation is really by grace? They may dress just like me, sound me, speak just like me, but they add just a little bit of work to the gospel. All of us see, they’re whales without water. They’re clouds without water. See what he says here? Clouds they are without the water. Fruit, withereth without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots, raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame, wandering stars to whom has reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
Get this. And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam. So we know who Enoch was, that he was real, and the scripture talks about him, and tells you how far he was from Adam, and not only that, prophesied. So we know that Enoch was a preacher, but we don’t know that in the Old Testament, but we know it here. Prophecy are they say it and guess this is what Enoch said. Enoch said, Behold, the Lord cometh with 10,000s of his saints.
This isn’t the first time he was coming. This is the second time he comes. Enoch knew that before the flood. Just the coincidence. No, no, no, no. They knew an awful lot back then because God had his preachers and they were preaching it. Bible says that God preached before the gospel on the Abraham. So we know that God preached Abraham told him what the gospel was, justification by faith. He already knew that. A. exting. A.keleyafort…… D.WAYS.monton D. D. D.
D. D. He’s coming. Why is he coming? In verse 52, execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly among them, of all their ungodly deeds, which they have ungodly committed, and of all their… All their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. D,,,,,,,,. So does God know about all these ungodly people that said all those ungodly things about the about this Godly God. …
In get what he says in verse 16, these are murmurs, complainers walking after their own lusts and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s person in admiration because of advantage. But it’s not because they love the people, they want them to have eternal light, they want them to go to heaven. He said they make merchandise of the people. They use them, and abuse them, but anyway. Go back here to second Peter chapter two. 2 Peter chapter 2, and it says here in verse 5, and spared not the old world, but saved no of the eight person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.
So God judges the angels that’s, and God judges the ungodly before the flood. Verse 6, turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly. Remember all false teaching, leaves ungodliness. Truth is truth. And the so-called peaches that cause the person to want to live right and go to church and all that. Yeah, but now he can’t do it because he saved, don’t because he wants to be saved.
And that makes him a hypocrite because he’s doing it to be seen of men. He’s doing it to try to earn something that he can’t have. That’s even worse. So he says in verse seven, and delivered just lot. Now it wasn’t only lot, it was just lot. Just lot means a justified man, a man who believed in the Lord. And delivered just like vexed, vexed with a filthy behavior of the wicked. For that righteous man says dwelling among them in seeing and hearing, Vex says, righteous soul from day to day with their and you ought to unlawful deeds.
So the Lord, did he know how to deliver him? Yeah, he came out of there and took care of the rest of them. Fire. All he wrote. You know, in certain scriptures, it says whenever Lot looked down to the, It was like the Garden of Eden. It’s like the, it must have been a beautiful, beautiful place. You ought to see it now. I’ve been there, I’ve seen it. At the south end of the Dead Sea, it don’t look so pretty anymore.
But one day, I guess it would be like the Garden of Eden. You ever wonder where the Garden of Eden was? Somebody says, over here in Missouri, but I don’t. There is a group in the Mormons that say it was over in Missouri, Independence, Missouri. That’s where the garden need is. Don’t go there, it’s not there. But he says here in verse nine, the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust onto the day of judgment to be punished.
So this is what is going to take place when you have false teachers getting among you. And next thing you know, it causes people not to live right because you don’t believe right. That’s why you should guard your mind and what you hear and make sure it stays with the book because it won’t take much before you can go so many different directions. And it’ll happen so subtly you won’t even know it. It can be because you listen to somebody on radio or television and because you listen to somebody, you can read books.
Now you can go in my office. I got a couple hundred books, maybe more than that. I’ve given away over a thousand books in the last five, six, seven years. Just give them away. Jumped a lot of them. I thought, man, I don’t want nobody to speak things to fall in somebody’s hands because I’ve collected books for so long. And I’m almost, you know, I keep just about everything. When we had to move down here, you have no idea what it was like.
Because I keep just about everything. I’m going to you need it someday. I’m going to need this someday. And 10 years later, I still might need this someday. And I had to make these hard decisions. They all talk about you got to be able to make the hard decision. I just do I keep this or I go it away. And so it was difficult but we managed and I still got a lot of stuff. But you’ve got to be careful of what you read because it affects how you think and how you think, affects how you live.
And so you want to do right. Otherwise you’ll find yourself knowing some things about the Lord and knowing the Lord has got you out of so much trouble and you start doing right. And then whenever you start believing wrong, you realize that you can go right back in just like a pig de wallo in the mare. Just like an a little dog that’s turned around and eats his vomit. Don’t that make it nauseated? He said, you ought not to say stuff like that.
It’s not in the Bible. Okay, before we close, just throw this at you. Look in verse 22. But it has happened under them according to the true proverb. The dog has turned his own vomit again in the south. That was wise to her, wallowing in the mar. See, I didn’t make it up. It’s all in here. But anyway, we’ll have fun as we go through some of this. And some of this is easy to explain sometimes when you get in the Scriptures.
It’s not always easy to explain. to explain. Sometimes you might say, okay, it might be this or it might be that, but if it doesn’t hurt the Scriptures, I really don’t care which way you go. But there’s some things that you don’t have that option on. Some things are hard-nosed. There is no other name under heaven given among men or by we must be saved. There is no other name. There is nobody else that can save anybody except Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the only one that can save and only by trusting Him. And Him alone is your only hope of going to heaven. Can you go to heaven? So you don’t earn it, you can’t work for it, you can’t buy it. It is the gift of God. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe it in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. I just wrote an email yesterday or two days ago letting someone know that look there was a guy that used to go to Florida Bible College heard everything we heard but now don’t believe that God so loved the world but that God so loved the elect and that we don’t really choose God God chooses us and that That by grace are you saved through faith, that faith is the gift and not salvation.
Now that is Calvinistic teaching. That isn’t true. And he believes that now. And it makes a difference on your soul and his ego. Because after all, why should I get all been out of shape if people don’t tell people how to have eternal life? after all. They can be saved anyway. God’s going to choose to save who he wants. And if God chooses you, you’re going to have one of you like it or not. But what about all the people that God didn’t choose?
Well, see, if he does choose anybody, that’s grace. And so if the rest of them go to hell, so what? Well, that might be all right for you. But what about the person that goes to hell? He may not like that idea. They might be able to say God is unjust. That ain’t right. Whatever God does, God must be just. And He is. God so loved the world when Christ on the cross you paid for the sins of the whole world.
And it is my faith in Him. And He will save me and give me eternal life as a free gift. Let’s pray, show it.
