To fear God means to shine evil. If you don’t shun evil, it’s because you don’t fear God. And that’s mocking God when you mop sin. I can do it and nothing will happen. I can sin, I can get away with it. No, you can’t. Do you think that you can mock God, live how you please and get away with it? No, you can’t. There’s a price to pay. Now, look at the book of Proverbs, chapter three, and verse 13, verse 13.
He says, happy is the man that finds it the wisdom and the man that get it understanding. Talking about the wisdom of God. We’re to search for the wisdom of God like you was searched for treasure, search for gold. If you had the wisdom of God over here in a package and you had all the silver and gold over here at about $1,100 an ounce, which one would you choose? He said, I want the gold. But I want the gold.
Iirrel I can get whatever I want. Now, God says with wisdom you can get what you want. Wisdom is worth more than all the wealth in the world. The wisdom of God. Because see, this life is temporary and you’re going to leave all that gold here. It’s only temporary. You are forever. Somebody said earth is like a stage. and we’re just performing on the stage, getting prepared for eternity. We’re just preparing for eternity. And what you have for eternity depends on what you do here.
So in verse 15, I want you to look in verse 15, some of these verses are good, you ought to unwind these verses. I wouldn’t read them out, I didn’t think they were important, of course. She taught me wisdom is more precious than rubies and all the things that can’t desire, thou can’t desire, are not to be compared unto her.” Why? Because in her hands, in verse 16, is length of days is in her right hand. And in her left hand riches and honors, she can give you everything you want.
Seek wisdom and wisdom to get you whatever you need. her ways of pleasantness and all her past are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her, a tree of life, run for life, and happy is everyone that repainted her. The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth.” So he says there in verse 7 or chapter 4, wisdom is the principal thing. Therefore get wisdom and And with all by getting, get understand, understand God.
Understand how God works. Understand what life is all about. Understand the purpose of your life. Understanding what the will of God is. That’s greater than, oh yeah, you can make money. And a lot of people know how to make a living, but they don’t know how to live. This life is all you’re gonna get. You get one trip through, no reruns, no instant replays. One trip through. Live now the way you’ll wish you had lived a hundred years from now because you don’t wanna look back with regret.
Do now the things that God wants you to do. Now, all this is good and it’s very important, but a wisdom is so important to get and to keep. Look down there in verse 22, a chapter four. for they are life unto those that find them, help to all their flesh. Keep thy heart without diligence for out of it or the issues of life. Concerning the wisdom of God, the wisdom of God is divine wisdom. Is there anybody smarter than God?
Has more wisdom than God? No. There is no one like the Lord. And that is why it is so important to learn about God and what God wants. He’s the one that designed all this life for us. Now, as a couple of verses I want to read to you, but don’t take them the wrong way. I didn’t write them, but they’re right here. But so that you understand. the importance of it. Look there in verse 18 of chapter 5.
Let thy fountain be blessed and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Lour her be as the loving, hind, and pleasant row. Let her breast satisfy thee at all times and be douse ravished always with her love. And why will thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger, for the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his His only knickwities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holding with the cords of his sin.
He shall die without instruction, and in the greatest of his folly, he shall go astray. So there’s two women mentioned here in these verses. That wife that God wants you to have, that wife that you’re supposed to be faithful to, and then the strange woman. Now take your Bible and turn there to the seventh chapter. 7th chapter of Proverbs. And understand that now Solomon is going to use two women to explain the wisdom of God versus the wisdom of man, the wisdom of the world.
And what better way and what better person than Solomon? He probably knew as much about women as anybody ever lived. I used to wonder if he was so wise, why did he marry 700 wives and 300 porcupines? Okay, concubines. 700 wives! One was enough, but 700. Maybe that’s why he was so wise. He had all those counselors. But here in Proverbs in chapter 7, I want you to see this, look there in verse 4. Say unto wisdom. my sister call understanding that kids woman.
So he says, see wisdom is the principle thing and all by getting get understanding to know to understand. Get what he says. He says in verse 5, they that they may keep thee from the strange woman. Now the wisdom of God will keep you from the wisdom of the world. the wisdom of God can guard you and protect you from the lure of the wisdom of the world. You see in this world we have our body and with our body we have our eyes and we have our nose and we have our mouth and we have our ears and we have our senses so that we can see this world and there’s a lot of times we want to walk by sight and not by faith and when we walk by sight we go by what we see.
There’s a pretty good looking bon bon shell. Where are what they call an atomic dress? 50% fall out. And you’re talking about it’s the things you see that can totally destroy you. You can see a beautiful house. I got to have that. I got to have this car. I got to have this much money. I got to have this. I got to have and you fall in love with the world. And the world is going to all burn up someday.
And when you fall in love with the world, you spend your whole life for the world. Well that’s not why God put you here. Those things come and go, get what you need, but don’t love any of it. God should be able to take away your job, take away your health, take away your house, take away your money, take away anything that you’ve got. And you ought to be the same solid individual you were when you didn’t have it or when you did have it.
Character is what you are”/> And it’s not made by the things that you have. Because you know you’re laying up treasure in heaven and that you’re just a pilgrim. You’re just passing through this world Pilgrims means you’re away from home. You’re going home strange to me you’re away from home, but you’re you’re just passing through Now look what he says He says in verse 6 He says these things will keep you from that strange woman Inversic for at the window of my house.
I look through my casement and be held among the simple ones I discerned among the youth a young man, void of understanding, passing through the street near her corner. And he went the way to her house. In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night. And behold, there met him, a woman with the attire of a heart, subtle of heart. She is loud and stubborn and her feet abide not in her house. Now is she without.
Now in the streets, lathe and weighted every corner. So she caught him, kissed him, and with an impudent face set into him. I have peace offerings with me. This day have I paid my vows, therefore came my fourth to meet the diligently to seek thy face, and I have found the… Now, as you read this, nobody better than Solomon than tell about a woman and how she can lure, not as you can trap. But he’s not really talking about a woman here.
He’s talking about the wisdom of the world. Talking about the wisdom of the world. The wisdom of this world lures you because we always ask, what do I want? What do I wanna be? And so many figure out for themselves, I want this degree and that degree, And they go to this college and that universe and then they get a list of degrees a mile along. And this is what happen this is, this is my life. And how many people ever stop and say, Lord, I belong to you.
What do you want me to do? What do you want me to be? Do you know success is being what God wants? A man is a failure when he’s not what God wants him to be. Now I don’t care if you have a million dollars, 10 million dollars. I don’t care what you have. If you’re not what God wants, you are a failure in the eyes of God. In the eyes of the world, oh yeah, you’re successful. But in the eyes of God, you may not be.
It doesn’t mean that you can’t have things, but did you get it because you did the will of God for your life. It’s one thing to put God first, do what God wants you, and God can bless you. Abraham was a rich man, but he sought the face of God. And there’s people who can get so much, and I’m gonna tear down these barns, and I’m gonna fill them up, and I’m gonna say to my soul, soul, eat, drink, and be married for tomorrow we diet.
And he says, Da’aful, because you didn’t lay up treasure in heaven. Are you laying up treasure there? God says Da’aful, now he wasn’t a fool, as far as making a living. He wasn’t a fool in what he could possess. He wasn’t a fool there. He was a fool because he didn’t do what God wanted him to do. He wasn’t successful in God’s eyes. Moreover, it is required in the steward that a man be found rich. Is that what it says?
That a man be found what? Faithful. Faithful. Be in faith. Why are you faithful? Because you believe something. And you believe it because you’ve got some wisdom. You see, a wise man doesn’t trust his judgment. A wise man, biblical wise man, believe God. Trust God, cast his cares upon him. He would rather be whatever God wants him to be. Do whatever God wants him to do, more than anything else in the world. So he says down through here, and looking verse 16, I have decked my bed with covenants of tapestry, with carved words with the fine linen of Egypt.
I perfume my bed with murs and aloes and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning. Let us soul us ourselves with love. For the good men and not at home. Well, where’s my husband’s not here? He’s gonna long journey. La la la. He take it home a bag of money. He’s gone for a good while. Come on in. And with her much fair speech, she caused him to yield. With a flatter in her lips, she forced him.
And he went like a martin to a gourd. I mean, his straight way. And as an ox go to the slaughter There’s a fall to the corruption of the structure till it starts to strike through the liver. There’s a bird hasten to the snare and know if not that it is for his life. That’s why I say, run for your life. You should run from the wisdom of this world because you’re running for your life. But where are you running to?
You’ve got to run to the Word of God. You’ve got to run to the Lord and see God’s will. Because see, if you’re not doing it, did you know that the wisdom of the world has already got you? The wisdom of the world has seduced you like a beautiful woman who lures you into adultery. The wisdom of the world is doing after God’s children. And that’s why he says that the children of the world are wiser than the children of light.
The children of the world are wiser than the children of light. Here in Proverbs, I want you to take and look there in chapter 8. Now look there in verse 11. Proverbs chapter 8 verse 11. For wisdom on the Linus in your Bible, wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence. Now, it’s like wisdom is speaking. Now, we know that Christ, the wisdom of God, Christ, the righteousness of God, that no man should glory in his presence.
In verse 13, the fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, arrogance, the evil weight, the forward mouth do I hate. Counsel is mine and sound wisdom. I am understanding I have strength. This is what I can do and in verse 17 He said I love them that loved me and those that seek me early shall find me because that’s when you need the wisdom before the problem You see when you shun the will of God the word of God don’t got time for God Hey the calamities coming Heartaches are coming Grief is on its way and many of God’s children can’t stand strong as they ought to Did you know if all of God’s children would serve the Lord with all their heart?
We could shake the world But majority of them are not faithful They’re caught by the wisdom of the world It doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy things in this light. God says he’d given us all things for you to enjoy But does it control you? Does it become your all-consuming purpose in life to get things or only use things to do what God wants you to do with your life? Look there in verse 21. He says that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance and I will feel they’re treasured.
You have to believe that. That if you get wisdom, if you do what God wants you to do, God will take care of everything else. Turn your page to chapter 9 real quick. Chapter 9 is the story of another woman. This woman is disparate than the one in chapter 7. You see, that woman was the wisdom of the world and using a woman as a type to teach. Now we’re talking about the wisdom of God. It’s a different woman, but it describes her a little bit better.
In verse 1, wisdom has built her house. She had hewed out seven pillars. She had killed her bees. She had mingled her wine. She had also furnished her table. She had sent forth her maiden. She cried upon the highest places of the city who so is several, let him turn in here. You see, the wisdom of God is like God is pleading with you and pleading with me. I’ve got wisdom. I want to teach you. I want you to understand me.
I want you to understand why I made you why I left you here I want you to understand that there’s a judgment in Christ coming. I want to reward you I want to bless you here and I want to get you something in the thousand-year reigns and you have no idea all that I Would do for you I? Told my young my grandson. I says you have no idea what I Your granddaddy want to do for you? You haven’t got a clue.
I I says, but you do right. You’d be surprised what I’m gonna do for you. But if you don’t, I’m not. Now that’s it with him, I think. I want him to know if I can trust my grandpa and do right, there’s rewards there. But if not, it’s gonna cost me something. And I don’t know what it is. And he may never know. You and I won’t probably know until we get to heaven find out what it has cost us, not to serve the Lord.
Not to holy trust Him. Now you may know Him as your Savior, you have eternal life, you’ll go to heaven when you die. That’s a gift that’s free. But now that you know the Lord, did you know that God wants us to study His word? And remember this is only one book. You ever go to a library and look at all those books? And they can’t even come close to the wisdom that’s in these pages. Because this is not only teach you how to have eternal life, it’s teach you how to live.
It’s about life. This book has the prescriptions on how to keep a sound mind. This book tells you how to have a sound marriage. This book teaches you how to have a business. This book teaches you everything concerning the issues of life. The answers are in God’s book. And look what he says here. He says in verse four, turning here. Verse five, come and eat of my bread. Verse six, forsake the foolish and live. And go in the way of understanding.
Look down there in verse 8. Rebuke not a sconer unless he hates the rebuke a wise man and he will love thee. Look in verse 9, give instruction to a wise man and he shall be yet wiser. Teach a just man and he will increase in learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Look in verse 11, for by me thy days shall be multiplied. The years of thy life shall be increased, and you don’t think you need to be wise.
Did you know I’ve done funerals for people who had some wisdom of the world, and I’ve done their funerals? I believe that I am alive today, but a very fact that I sought the wisdom of God. Now, he may take me home tomorrow, but I’m thankful for the years that he’s already given me. And I mean he has more that’s fine. I may never live to be an old man. You say you already are I am not God may have all kind of stuff out there for me yet, but I know this life and death is in his hands If there’s anything that I don’t want to do is I don’t want to make him man And I can’t understand how come some Christians they snub their nose at God It’s like get off my back.
Who are you? Leave me alone. And they think they have control. And but it’s going to cost them someday. The most important thing we can ever do is not only is no crisis or Savior, but to realize that you and I, we don’t have the wisdom to guide ourselves. It is not within man that walk up to direct his steps. Like David prayed, Lord, search me. me, try me see if there be any wicked way in me. Because I want to deal with it.
I want to correct the problem. That’s part of your wisdom. Part of your wisdom is do you know how to love your wife? Do you know how to love your husband? Taste the wisdom of God. You can’t do it according to your way. You think, do it God’s way. Find out what God wants. his counseling. The time I see thyself, because a lot of you don’t see themselves the way they really are. I cancel people all the time and men never see themselves the way they are.
Women, they don’t see themselves the way they are. It’s always the elements fault. And I said to another person to both sides and they’ll, my goodness. Sometimes I want to take a little ball back and hit them both on the top of the head until it rains like a Chinese gong. God is good. Any good, you are here because some of you have the desire, you want the wisdom of God. I want to show you, and I hope that I did a little bit of comparison that there is the wisdom of God, and there’s the wisdom of man.
And the wisdom of God will give you life. The wisdom of God, it has all the answers. It can sustain life, multiply your days. Learn to obey the Lord. the wisdom of God. Look up here. Let’s see how smart you are. This is you and me. This is sin. We all have sin on us. God says that He loves us, but He hates our sin. Now for us to pay for sin is eternal separation from God. That’s in hell.
But God doesn’t want us to go to hell. He wants us to go to heaven. Now to go to heaven, we have to be perfect as righteous as God. And none of us are perfect, none of us are righteous. We’ve all sinned and come short of the glory of God. See, God is perfect. We’ve come short of perfection. And so God says that we can’t get in to heaven. There shall in no wise enter into it anything that they follow the work of the pomomation or make it the lie.
So God says you cannot save yourself. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord. God in the flesh came into the world because he loves us. H.R. sin causes separations from him. So Christ took the sin, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead. And God said that if you and I, if we would believe that he did it for us, he put this payment to our account and we get to go to heaven on what he did.
In reality, Jesus Christ was the payment. So So when you accept Christ, He is my payment. He is my living proof, my living receipt that He came back from the dead and my sins are paid. So He says, I have this proof of payment in me. Christ in me. He is my hope of glory. He is my joyful anticipation because I know I have this eternal life. And the Bible says that if we’ll believe that he did it for us, he would put the pay-mat-ar-count.
We go to heaven on what he did and he says, these things have already known you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. You can’t earn it and you can’t work for it. You can’t buy it. For he, God, had made him Jesus Christ, who no-no-scent to be sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. So when you trust Christ as your Savior, you become his child and you’re going to heaven whenever you die.
That’s the best news in all the world. Now, if you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, if you don’t, you go to hell. If you do, you go to heaven. Now, in my mind, a man who will reject a free gift, I call him a fool. What would you call them? So if you don’t trust Christ as your Savior, what would you be? What would you be? If somebody like Jesus Christ who is God in the place came into this room and offered you eternal life, does it get paid for?
And if you don’t trust the Lord, you go to hell, but if you trust Him, you have eternal life and you get to go to heaven when you die. Now a man would have to be a fool to turn down that free gift. And everyone who turns that down is a fool. He is a fool. But the wisest thing you’ll ever do, this side of eternity, this side of the grave, the smartest, wisest thing you will ever do is to believe what God said and trust him as your Savior.
And if you trust him as your Savior, God said he would save you, save you from hell, give you turn like and you get to go to heaven on what he did. you see that would be a wise thing to do? That’s probably shall we? Every headbound, every eye closed, and no one looking around. If you hear this morning and you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior, I hope that something that I said would help you to be a little wiser.
So why not right now? And then quite as of that moment, just talk to the Lord. Say something simple like this, Lord, I don’t understand it all. But I know I’m a sinner. I believe Christ died, paid for my sins, and I’m going to trust him right right now is my Savior. My only hope of going to heaven. And if you’ll make that decision, I’d like to know it. I’d like to have prayer for you. I’m not going to have you forward, not going to embarrass you.
But right where you’re sitting, say, yes, preacher, that made sense to me. And I will trust Christ as my Savior. And I’d like you to pray for me. We’ll just slip you in it very quickly and put it right back down. You’ve never done it before, but you’re doing it right now. Anyone’s all. If you have trusted Christ as your Savior, how How you doing? There’s a lot of ending and bitterness and strife, confusion and all that stuff in your life.
Are you trusting the human wisdom? Are you seeking for divine wisdom? Spend time with God. Spend time in His Word. Don’t get so busy that you don’t have it. I’m so glad you came here this morning. I really am. I can’t make anybody come. But I hope there’s something within you that says, I want to know the Word of God. Our Father, we thank You so much for each person here. For those that not only have trusted You, just save You, but they have a desire to want to serve You.
They want to know Your Word. Many of them read and study it. Memorize Scripture and always ask, Lord, what do You want me to do in my life? What do You want me to do with this? Let us answer.
