We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ and that today’s first part of this two-part message will be a blessing to you and your family.

I want to talk to you about a few things that I hope that will be a blessing to you. You know, one of the biggest words in the whole Bible, one of the biggest words is do. Think upon these things, but he says, just do it, just do it. I think Nike must have got that commercial from the Bible because it was in the Bible first. So take your Bible and turn to the Gospel of John chapter 2, the Gospel of John and chapter 2.

You know, there’s three things about power that a person should be aware of and to pray for. And believe it or not, there is the power of the mind. You’ve heard people say, well, if the mind can conceive it, the body can achieve it. That’s not exactly true. And I don’t like pre-inserments on the power of the mind or positive thinking. I like to preach on biblical thinking, the power of biblical thinking, which I believe is very, very good.

But the thing about the mind is how the mind thinks. And you have to guard yourself because of these two things. And everything in life, there’s always going to be success and defeat. So people are going to have this, but you have to guard it. When should you guard your mind when you’re defeated and when you’re successful? I’ve seen just many people fall because of success as been poverty stricken. You can have everything in the world and it leads people to stray because of things of this world.

You can get them and then it can lead you astray. Or the apps and sove them, you can use what God doesn’t love me, poor, poor me and have your pity parties and so be so discouraged and so depressed. So the mind has to be guarded at all times. And then everybody knows that when you trust Christ is Savior, you have the Holy Spirit in dwelling you. Talk about the power of the Holy Spirit. Well, let me ask you this.

When do you receive the Holy Spirit? Immediately when you trust Christ is saved. So when do you think that the Holy Spirit should start controlling your life? Immediately. I mean, the Holy Spirit’s not to be on the back burner and you guide your life until you get ready for it. Or do you really need it? He’s supposed to lead and guide you all the time in every area, every situation. But see, if you don’t, you will lose the power of the mind, the power of our mind to be able to think right.

Even whenever you seem like everything’s going wrong, because that’s whenever the devil knows he can jump on you with everything. Or you can also be lifted up with pride and exalt yourself because when something goes successful. You know, you can have some of your weakest moments right after a great success, right after a victory. You know, kids go to camp, get all excited, wound up, wanna turn the world upside down. You know, sometime about week two later, you’d be surprised how fast they can hit rock bottom.

And so there’s a constant battle trying to keep the second law thermodynamics from taking place. And there’s always this tendency toward running down, randomness, disorder, decay, destruction. And so you’re either building yourself strong in the Lord, or you’re going to allow the things of the world to destroy you and destroy you, they will, unless you learn how to think. And I don’t know if you’ve ever thought about it, but there is the power and a great purpose. If you have a great purpose that drives and motivates you to go through all kinds of things, there’s power there.

And unless people have a purpose that’s greater than anything they know about for themselves, There’s gotta be something that’s for the Lord. I can do this for the Lord. Because see, sometimes you think, I’m not work doing all this for. But he is. He’s worth why I do everything that I do and to keep battling until the day comes when we get battling anymore. I got a lot of decisions that I’m looking at. I don’t know what God’s got down the road.

But I sure enjoy certain, oh Lord. Certain Lord is the most exciting thing in life. And every man has to have the power of a purpose because that’s just the way God designed it. Now, I want you to take your Bible and look there in the Gospel of John in chapter 2, and look in verse 5. Now, a lot of people say that you’ve got to go to God through Mary. But I want you to look what Mary had to say about this.

Although, there was this situation with the water pots, and they didn’t have any, all the wine was gone, and I’m not going to get into the discussion about whether or not it was that for a minute or just, you know, it was just happy hour. You know, what was this? That’s, that’ll do for another time. But it says in verse six, Jesus sent it to her woman, what have I to do with thee? My hour has not yet come.

His mother said unto the servants, and you ought to underline this statement in your Bible. Whatsoever, he sayeth unto you, and see those two little words, those two little words, do it. Just do it. Whatever he says, do it. You know, that’s a good thing to remember As you study the Word of God, and you see what the Word of God says, just do it. See, you didn’t know that was in the Bible saying, nang, he’s tried to steal this stuff from God’s Word.

But the Lord had it first, and this was written 2,000 years ago. So I’m not going to stop using it just because of that. Take your Bible and turn to the Book of Mark chapter 3. And Mark chapter 3, and you’ll find that the Lord tells us things that He wants us to know and what he wants us to do. And if you look there in verse 35, there’s a verse that talks about his mom, his brothers, and his sisters.

But to get the idea of looking verse 31, there came then his brethren and his mother and standing without sent unto him, calling him, and the multitude sat about him and and they said unto him, thy mother and thy brethren without secrecy.” Now a lot of people say, well, Jesus didn’t have any, you know, brothers and sisters. Well, it’s hard to say. The Bible says that Mary had more children. And so I got a hunch that those children were the children of Joseph and Mary.

Jesus was not the child of Joseph and Mary. Mary was the mother of that child that was born, but Joseph was not the father. But it says here in verse 33, and he answered him saying, Who is my mother or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him and said, Behold my mother and my brethren, For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother and my sister and mother. Whosoever, and there’s that one little word, whosoever it shall do the will of God.

Now when it comes to salvation he says that you might work the works of God and that is that you will believe on him whom he hath sent. Now this verse right here is even clarified a little bit more in another portion of scripture that I think it would be good to look at. Well look there in Luke chapter 8. Just turn to your right there just a little bit. Luke and chapter 8 and Luke chapter 8 and look in verse 19.

Kind of the same story but look at the ending of it here in verse 19. Then came to him, his mother and his brother could not come at him for the press. And it was told him by certain which said thy mother and thy brethren stand without desiring the sieve. and he answered and said unto them, my mother and my brethren, are these which hear the word of God, and then there’s those two little words, and do it. Those that hear the word of God and do it.

See, you can go to church all your life. You can even sit down and read your Bible and have devotion every day, but if you don’t do what the word of God says, what was the value? See, it’s like a man who looks into a mirror and sees what he looks like and then he goes his way and looking in the mirror didn’t help him at all because he didn’t do anything about what he saw. And so you and I as we study the Word of God we’re supposed to let the Word of God change our life, change our directions, affect the mind.

That’s where the power of the mind is because the power of the Word within the mind. So you put the Word of God into your mind, it will sustain you whenever it seems like you’re at your lowest moment and your highest moment. What I try to do is if, try not to go too far above the line and all of your excitement. Because usually as far as you go high above the line, you’ll go below the line when you’re totally discouraged and depressed.

And so there’s people who can just, everything’s just wonderful, and they can drop just that fast below the line. So you want to get to where you ride with things and don’t overreact to anything. We can be hurt so easy. And it’s time when men, it wouldn’t matter what anybody said or did. We were comfortable in who we are and what we’re doing. And we know what we want. And nobody’s other opinions have bothered us. I remember that there’s some of these old westerns.

I love the old westerns. You know, a guy standing there and somebody walks in and says, where are you from, partner? None of your business. And they could have a gunfight right then and there because of the way they said that. Or you backed off because you didn’t mess with somebody because it was none of your business. But we today are so easily, easily offended. Although the Word of God tells us what to do, what not to do, but you have to always guard your mind so that you don’t become easily offended.

That’s what the Word of God teaches. Now, when he makes the statement that we’re going to here in verse 21, the last part of it, these which hear the Word. Hear the Word, do it. In James it talks about hearing the word, the doers of the word and not, here’s only. Because you can hear it, but you don’t obey it. You don’t put it into practice. And if you did, it would solve a lot of problems. Look there in the book of John, chapter 7, the book of John, the gospel of John, and chapter 7.

I believe that if a man is willing to do the will of God, God will reveal his will. Sometimes we want God to do all the revealing first, and then we’ll decide whether or not we wanna do that or not. Well, settle in your mind, the power of a purpose, to do the will of God for my life. So now that purpose is power. without the purpose, there’s no power. There’s nothing to make you do it, because it’s got to be something bigger and stronger than what you are.

So yes, you have the power of the mind, but the power of the mind is not to be the humanistic philosophy of the flesh that says my performance is all based upon my fleshly mind and fleshly knowledge and the abilities and talents that I’ve got in my physical body. And so therefore I’m limited. The power of the mind that believes that the Holy Spirit indwells me. And so I’ve got that power living inside of me to help my mind think the way I should think so that I can do what God says to do because I’ve got the power of a purpose.

And there’s got to be something in every individual’s life that drives them and motivates them to do what God wants them to do. So here it makes a statement in John chapter 7 and verse 17. He says, if any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine whether it is of God or whether I speak of myself. Because you see he had made some statements, my big statements. And he says in verse 14, now about the mist of the week Jesus went up into the temple that taught the Jews marble saying how knoweth this man letters have I never learned in other words where did this guy get his degree from how does he know all this stuff he hasn’t been to you know the the school of the prophets he hasn’t been to said the feet of Gamaliel he hasn’t how does he know all

this stuff he didn’t learn in the synagogue and so forth Jesus is the author of the law, not only what the law says every letter, every job, every title, he knows all of it. And he goes into the temple and he says and teaches them and they’re all amazed at this man’s wisdom in how he spoke with authority. You see, Jesus says, my doctrine is not mine, But it’s the will of him that sent me. The one that sent me, I’m here to represent him.

So I can only speak that which I see and know and understand. And that was of his father. So he would do that. Now the Bible says that these ignorant fishermen that God had chosen to serve him and to follow him, that the world took note that these were ignorant fishermen, but it says they recognize They had been with Jesus. They were like Jesus because they had been with him. And when you spend time with the Lord, it’s going to affect the things that you think about.

It’s going to affect how you look at life. It’ll determine whether or not you’re way up here or way down here. Like the Bible talked about girding up the loins of your mind. So it’s not up here down here up there like a bunch of yo-yos. And that’s where most people are. They don’t have any emotional high or down depressed. They’re thinking, great! Everything’s terrible. and learning how to be steady, steadfast, girding up the loins of your mind. And so God says in verse 16, my doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

And if a man will do the will of God, God will see that he understands the will of God. So I believe that if I’m willing to do whatever it is, God wants me to do, it’s God’s responsibility to show me what it is to do. And then whenever I find out what it is that God wants me to do, what should I do? Do it! Do it! Is that so hard to understand? Is there somebody I need to forgive?

Then forgive them! Somebody I need to say, I’m sorry, it’s sad! So I just can’t do that. I just can’t do that. You will. That’s what I’m talking about. There’s not enough. The of man. Own up to it. You’re wrong somebody. Hey, I wronged you. I should have done it. I’m sorry. Will you forgive me? Well, would that be wonderful? But too many people have too much pride. P-R-I-D-E. Pride. You know, there’s some things that God says in the book of probability Hates.

And you know that that’s one of the words. That’s one of the things. Pride comes before what? Before or fall. And that’s why so many people fall because of pride. Because they don’t want to have to humble themselves. And so this is what God’s word says. Now look at it. Here’s part of the problem. See there in verse 18, he said, He that speaketh of himself, seeketh his own glory. But he that seeketh his glory, that send him the same is true and no unrighteousness in him.

So did he get into about the thing about Moses and the law and so forth and the order of circumcision, how that it was under the law, but that was before him. And he says, when you consider what God has given to you and how he gave to you the law, he says you haven’t even kept the law. See what he says there in verse 22. Moses therefore gave unto you circumstances that not because it is a Moses but of the Father.

You on the Sabbath day you circumcised the man. If a man on the Sabbath day received circumcision that the law of Moses should not be broken. Are you angry at me? Because I have made a man every withhold on the Sabbath day. Judge not according to the appearance but judge righteous judgment. He says you have not even kept the law. You haven’t even kept The last verse 19 where he said, did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keepeth the law.

Why go you about to kill me? They said, whoa, what do you mean? We’re not taught, nobody’s trying to kill you. Ha, ha. Yeah, they were, and he knew it. I love the way that Jesus handled the crowd, how he talked to people. He was a man’s man. Jesus was no sissy. Jesus was a man. You realize when you read this who we could stand up against and what he said and what he did, you realize the power to hold your tongue when your lead is a sheet to the slaughter?

And he didn’t say a word and all that. That’s because he was a man. He wasn’t some of the sissified fellow that sometimes you see some of these pictures and drawings of him. I believe Jesus was a man’s man. I believe he was a carpenter for all those years. I believe he probably had a few big muscles on him. a lot of like me myself, you know. Just, why you always laugh whenever I do shenan. I do this. Look in 1 Corinthians chapter 11.

1 Corinthians chapter 11. Now, we do the communion service every month. And I just want you to look at this because it’s important. You see there in verse 23, 1 Corinthians chapter 11. He says, for I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered delivered unto you.” Now see that’s all we’re doing in certain words. You’re receiving from the Lord and you’re delivering. Receiving and delivering. We’re learning truth from God and we’re delivering. That’s what the gospel is.

We receive the gospel and we give the gospel. That’s all we do. We’re cheap radio sets. That’s all we are. But makes a statement. Verse 24, And when he had given thanks, he’d break it and said, take heed, this is my body, which is broken for you. And then he says this, this do. And remembrance of me. Now do you believe that month after month, year after year, people can get to where the Lord suffer is just nothing more than a ritual that they go through?

And they do it, but not in remembrance of Him. They just do it because well that’s what we do on the first Sunday of every month, we just do it. But do you really think about why you’re doing this? I’m supposed to be looking back to what Christ did. I’m supposed to be looking at my life now and judging my life. I’m supposed to be looking forward to his coming again because it affects how I live my life, if I can remember.

So the Lord’s Supper and why he came, why he got on the cross, came back from the dead and given me the power of the Holy Spirit till it’s, that’s doing it and remembrance of him. And the last verse in 25, he says, after the same manner also he took the cup when he had sipsed, saying, this cup is the new testament to my blood. This and there’s that word do ye as off as you drink it and remembrance of me, remembering him.

There’s another verse similar to this in the book of Hebrews in chapter 12 where he says, consider him, consider him. You know, when you get weak and weary, And you’ve done all these things and you’re running your race and it seems like everything’s going wrong. And you get ready to quit. It ain’t worth it. He says, consider him who endured the cross. But for the joy that was set before him, that he didn’t quit. Consider him remembering him. You see, there’s got to be the power of a purpose in your life that keeps you going.

And I believe that these are some of the things that just to help you to think clearly Look in the book of John chapter 13 the gospel of John in chapter 13 And look in verse 17 You often hear about know the Bible and everybody wants to be happy Who doesn’t want to be happy? Did you know that God’s the one that wants us to be happy more than anybody else in the world? God wants you to be happy more than your desire to be happy.

Your desire for peace and love and joy and all these things. God wants those for you more than you want them for yourself but it’s how you get it. God says now you obey me and I can get it for you but we want to get it ourselves our own way and when things don’t go our own way then I’m not happy because happenings is what makes me happy And when things are not happening right, I’m not happy. So a lot of Christians are not going to be happy in life because of the happenings are not in compliance with their will.

But what if you could learn to be content with what God has? You’re going to learn to be, you want to call it happy? But look what he says in verse 17. If you know these things, the word know you ought to underline it or circle it. You know these things and you ought to underline the last part of it. Happy are ye if you think about it. You know these things happier if you know it. Oh, I know the Bible.

I’ve read the Bible a thousand times. But happiness comes from what? If you do it, do it. So you find out what does the will of God say that I’m supposed to do and just do it. Does God want you to pray and talk to him? Just do it. God wants you to forgive one another. Just do it. Just do it. Just do it. Be nice one to another time when… Just do it. Just do it. This is hard to follow.

Can y’all follow me? This is a hard sermon to preach, I can tell. It’s just really hard. It’s got two words to it. Do it. You know, just do it. So, look in 1 Corinthians chapter 10. 1 Corinthians and chapter 10. 1 Corinthians chapter 10. and look in verse 31, verse 31. There’s a lot of things he mentions in here about the conscience of man. And how you’re supposed to think, how you’re supposed to judge. But whenever you kind of get confused and so forth, make sure of this one thing, that whatever it is you do, because there’s always people who say, well, I don’t see why I can’t go here, and I don’t see why I can’t do that, and I don’t see anything wrong with this.

All right, whatever it is you wanna do. Verse 31, whether therefore you eat, drink whatsoever you do. Do it all to the glory of God. And if you can’t give God glory for whatever it is you say, do and think, then maybe it’s not right. Everything of that. Because your whole life, why are you living life to glorify the Lord? That means to give Him glory. That He is honored by your decision that you make. He is pleased. Whatever it is you’re supposed to do, it’s acceptable unto the Lord.

So I live my life in a way that’s pleasing to God. So whatever it is that you want to argue with anybody over, you know, standards of this and that, music, hair, I don’t give what it is. Dress, you name it, do it all for his honor and for his glory. And you’d be surprised how much trouble that’ll save you. Do you think this is pleasing to God? Or is this what you want to be thinking or doing whenever the Lord comes back?

So one of these days that is going to take place. It will happen. Take a Bible looking Colossians in chapter 3, long the same line. Colossians in chapter 3, there are several verses mentioned there. But chapter 3 is a very, very good chapter because it talks about how we are to live. How we are to live. You see there in Colossians in chapter 3, if, in verse 1, if you then be risen with Christ seat those things which are above.

In verse 2, set your affections on things above, not on things of the earth. For you’re dead. Your life is here with Christ. In God, in other words, the only reason you’re alive is because you’re in Christ. Because you see, whenever you accepted His death as your dead, you should have died. But He let you live. I was crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I lived yet not I, but Christ live within me in the life which I now live. I live by the faith of the Son of God who Lemon gave himself for me.

In other words, in Philippians and talks about He is my life. He’s my life. That’s why I’m living. So I have the power of a purpose. He is my life. He is my reason for living. Well, if He’s my reason for living, then I should seek things for that please Him and set my affections on things that are above. And so He says in verse 5, mortified therefore your members which are upon the earth. In other words this old body that we have with this sinful nature and the desires that we want to have that may be pleasing to us but not to God.

God says mortified. Have you ever been mortified? What does it mean to be mortified? It means that you thought that why we’re going to teach you alive and what you thought it was.
