We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ, and that today’s concluding message of this teaching will be a blessing to you and your family. You see the giving of the law. Moses hadn’t even got down from the mountain until he broke both of the tablets that he had in his hands. So who was the first one to break the law? Moses broke all of them. But anyway, God gave him another set. In verse 28, and the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses, and you’re to underline this phrase, and there fell on the of the people that day about three thousand men.
Three thousand people died approximately 50 days after the Passover and it was all because they did not fulfill the law. The first thing it says, thou shall have no other gods before me. And the first thing they had done is they had made him a golden calf and made themselves a God and begin to worship a golden calf. How dumb. But that’s what they did. Now you wouldn’t do something like that would you? I mean you know the Lord and He saved you, gave you eternal life and you know you’re going to heaven when you die.
So don’t you worship the only true and living God there is? Or do you worship your job or do you worship your money or do you worship your kid? You worshiped your spare time. You worshiped sports. What is it you put into place of God? You could be guilty of the very same thing they did. You see jealousy and God says he is a jealous God. It means it’s you don’t want to be replaced. That’s why a girl hates another girl who tried to take her boy.
She don’t want to be replaced. Jealousy. So here is at the law. Mount Sinai. 3,000 people are killed. Take your Bible and turn down to the Book of Leviticus chapter 23, the Book of Leviticus in chapter 23. Leviticus 23, and you’ll notice that there are some things that happens every year when they got into the land. When they got into the land of Canaan, they were supposed to have these seven feasts, these memorial services. these memorial feast were times where they would remember what God had done for them.
And so as we go through these things, you’ll find out that these were to happen every year in real time so that it happened. The first four would be in the spring and then months in between. And then the last three feasts would be in the fall. And they all represented something, real things. But they also had a spiritual significance to them also. It wasn’t that they just came out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. And next thing you know, you’ve got the law.
But there was timing in this thing also. So there’s the Passover, then they had the Unleavened Bread, which was the debt was paid no sin. first fruit and then the Passover, the Feast of Trumpet, and then they had the atonement and then the Feast of Tabernacle. So these things that are mentioned in these verses throughout the 23rd chapter, all of it for a reason. And you see there when it talks about in verse 4 about the Passover, he says in verse 5, in the 14th day of the first month, at even is the Lord’s Passover.
Now their first month was April, so here you had when Christ would die on what day, what month, and it told it thousands of years in advance. So Christ came and died at the exact day at this period of time. And then it talks about there in the verse 16 of Christ died, but he made a payment for the sins of the world. And because he had made the payment, he was perfect. No leaven. He came back again from the dead.
So there’s things that are taught in here that you can go into the New Testament and find a correlation of what it means. Allegory means a spiritual teaching from a truth that’s found here in the Old Testament. So we have a lot of things you can apply. What we have to watch is that you don’t try to make the scripture say something that it doesn’t say. It’s always best to find the primary meaning and then there can be a spiritual application.
And so you have to watch being the interpreter of the spiritual interpretation. Because you see everybody can have their own interpretation. And then you have no clue where you’re going next. So you have to be careful and keep things within its context. And so you go through this and it talked about the first fruit, which is Christ’s resurrection from the dead. He was the resurrection from the dead three days later. There he is. And then it talks about the time where God says there’s going to be the feast of the past over here.
We have the first fruits. Christ says there’s going to be a harvest. And we are the ones because of what Christ done, so the feast of first fruits, and then we have the 50 days from the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and we have the law that was given by Mount Sinai. But in the New Testament, in comparison to that, 50 days is Pentecost. So Pentecost, you have this wonderful experience that happened. It’s similar to what happened in the Old Testament.
And so when you get to the New Testament and you have the Pentecost, there’s something else that takes place there. 3,000 were saved. You see, under the law, 3,000 were killed. But under grace, under the time of Pentecost, 3000, are given life. So is there a comparison here? I think so. But whenever you finish chapter 23 and you go through this, you say, well, that seems like that’s the end of it. Not exactly. I want you to look there in chapter 25 of the book of Leviticus.
And you’ll notice there in verse 8. And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years under the seven times seven years, and the space of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be under the forty and nine years. So you got forty and nine years.” And God breaking it down for us here. But notice when it’s supposed to happen, this was what they called the year of Jubilee, or the year of liberty, when you proclaim liberty throughout the land. This took place every 50 years.
You got in debt. All debts had to be forgiven after 50 years. So you couldn’t stay in debt any longer than that. Isn’t that wonderful? And if you left your land and sold it to somebody else 50 years later, you get it back. That way it always stayed with the people in their tribes. And so you can really blow it for 50 years, but 50 years later you get it back. So I’d always watch the loans that you made made within two or three years before it happened.
But now, Lord, do what He says, in verse nine, then shall thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the getth the tenth day of the seventh month. In the day of atonement shall you make the trumpet sound throughout all your land, and ye shall hallow the 50th year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land. And then in last part of it, in ye shall return and blood all of a lot of good stuff into here. But I believe these are representative of some other period of time.
This is in real time and in 50 years this happens and so it’s supposed to happen every 50 years. Well, there was a time when Israel did not obey the Lord and they did not keep the land every seventh year. They weren’t supposed to plan anything the seventh year and the God would give them enough on the sixth year to laugh with the sixth year and the seventh year enough seed for the eighth year until they got some more stuff going.
But Israel, because it’s hard to trust the Lord, that it’s going to be there next year. So they obey God and they didn’t let the land rest. So God’s in a long 70 years of captivity in the Babylon. And the reason was because they owed God one year. For every seven years they didn’t let the land rest. So God collected. That’s why He sent them into captivity for 70 years. One year for every seven years they didn’t obey. Can you get away with it?
You can’t get away with going against God. Sooner or later God’s going to collect. He is a good God. He’s a gracious God. He’s a merciful God, but God is going to collect. And God remembers what He said, and they had said, and did it on me chapter 6, all that the Lord has commanded of us, we will do. And so as you read this, I’ve often wondered, we know that on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came, the church began.
There’s always a question about when is it going to end? And so we always believe that on the Feast of Trumpets, well, there’s going to be the sound of the trumpet and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and we’re gone and then seven years later, it’s going to happen again on the same day and then the Lord comes back because He’s got to feel the finish of this thing in real time. It’s got to really happen. So how do we get all this put together?
Well, I had an inquiring thought And I thought every 50 years, they’re supposed to proclaim liberty throughout the land. And it has to fall on this date. Look there in Leviticus 25, and just notice 40 says in verse 9, then shall they cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the 10th day of the seventh month in the day of atonement. Now look there in Leviticus chapter 23. And notice what he says here, in verse 26 and the Lord spake unto Moses, saying also on the 10th day of the seventh month there shall be a day of atonement.
Now on the time when this happens 50 years, every 50th year they’re supposedly proclaim a day of freedom and liberty. So in my mind I’m just trying to think. I wonder if it’s possible that when the Passover literally took place. I know that Jesus had come into the temple there and he was reading from the Scriptures as it tells us in the book of Luke from the book of Isaiah chapter 61, the Spirit of the Lord is upon me and he hath anointed me to priest the captives free and the liberty and so forth and the proclaimed liberty.
Well, I’ve wondered if that would have the year of the 50th year, or would it be possible that on the day of Pentecost, on the day of Pentecost, when you had the Holy Spirit come, and he says, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. it been the same year that all of those things were fulfilled at the same time? Now the other thing is that as we go down through time, is it possible that the Lord when He comes to the earth and power and great glory and Israel has gone through their time of atonement which is their time of you know feeling sorry and down and out and groaning and moaning and they’re going to do a lot of that during the tribulation period.
And they’re supposed to repent and get right with God and he shows up and voila! Liberty and they get to go into the kingdom upon the earth. But so we often think about Christ could come back in the time of the seventh month of October and then seven years later he’ll come back again But we never know what year could it be when there is a 50th year of liberty? And was it true back then? And if it is, as those years have come and gone for the last 2000 years, have you ever wondered how close are we to the 50th year of liberty?
I want to hear the connection or if it’s possible. And if I know when the 50th year is for that, I just know I’ve got to go back maybe seven years. It’s something for y’all to study and think about, okay? I just want to wet your little appetite like that because I know that you like to study all these things like this. And so maybe it’ll be a blessing to you. Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Acts chapter 2.
was just my introductory remarks. You say what? So Acts and chapter 2 and look there in verse 4, chapter 2 and verse 4. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit of God pain right on schedule, right on time, as a fulfillment of the promise that Jesus made to His disciples, I will ask the Father and He shall send you the Holy Spirit. And so this is also mentioned in chapter one and not in verse four where he says, this is the promise of the Father that you have heard of him.
And not many days hence he shall be baptized by the Holy Spirit. So lo and behold, chapter two, the Holy Spirit comes. Just like under the law, the Lord came and gave him the law and 3000 were killed. Now, under grace, with the Holy Spirit, because of the death payment Christ made, he was the culmination of the penalty of all the sins of the law, because he took the sins of the whole world upon himself and died made under the condemnation of the law.
So Christ has already died, paid for all the sin of all the world. That means He’s already paid for all of your sins. The only thing you have to do to go to heaven is to believe He did it for you. Does that sound too hard? What if He’d have made it hard? He’s okay, I’ll try. That’s what they did for 1500 years and couldn’t. And God has made it so simple. So you know, there’s people that they don’t say, well, I don’t have to.
make those sacrifices in the temple and I don’t have to do this and I can’t walk on the Saturday so far and all these law, law, law, law, law. You know what they turn around do? They make a whole bunch of more laws where you got to go to church to go to heaven. You got to give money to go to heaven. You got to pray through and hang on and let go and let God and you got to stop this and stop that and join us and join them and they make all these rooms and laws.
That’s not in the Bible. God says the only thing you have to do to go to heaven is to accept His death as your death. See the law condemns the whole world. That’s why you’re going to die. The way just sin is death. So whenever you accept Christ’s death for your sins, that means you don’t have to pay for your sins. You don’t have to pay for them. You see, I don’t have to pay for any of my sins.
You say, have you been a bad boy? I’ve been a bad boy. Long time, long time. But the Lord paid for my sins. All of them. So that I don’t have to pay for one of them. I’m going to heaven because of what Christ did for me. It is the gift of God. It’s not a works list. Any man should vote. So you see there in verse four and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. See the Holy Spirit came and where the Holy Spirit is there is liberty.
It’s what saves you and sets you free. You don’t have to earn something because it’s free given to you as a gift. It’s very clear here in the Word of God and I want you to take your Bible looking verse 17 of chapter 2. In verse 17 and it shall come to pass in the last day you say, I will pour out my spirit, my spirit. Not the law, the law kills, the letter kills. It can’t give you life.
In other words, trying to earn and work for something according to the law, you gotta keep the tank of amnesty, go to heaven. No, you don’t. God proved 1500 years. No man is qualified to keep the law. It was given to show that yes, God is perfect and God is just and God is righteous, but no man can meet that perfection. That’s why the law leads you to Christ. The law lets you see I cannot save myself by my worst.
And therefore I must trust Christ as my saving. If I trust Him, then I can have eternal life. How can I keep from going to hell by accepting that payment Christ made? See now I can’t go there. I’ve been set free from that. When this old sinful nature that I’ve got, I’ve been carrying around for almost 70 years. I tried to get rid of it, it can’t do it. It just hangs on. So I got an old sinful nature.
I wanna be free of it. You see, when I trust the Christ as my savior, God saved my soul and watched it whitest, no. But this old body I’ve got, God’s just gonna let it die because he gonna give me in one better than this one. I don’t want this one without a sinful nature. I want one that doesn’t have a sinful nature and it’s a glorified body. That’s a perfect body. So I’m going to get another body. He’s going to set me free from this one.
You see, he’s already given me the down payment, which is the Holy Spirit. One day he’s going to come and I’m going to get the rest. I’m going to get my glorified body. And so as you go down through here, it talks about these things and the Holy Spirit and the last part of verse 18, talking about the Holy Spirit. But there’s a verse that I want you to see, and that’s there in verse 37. Look at verse 37.
After Peter preaches a sermon to them, and after they saw all these individual Jews that were there speaking in a language, a known language, we’ll get into that next week. But he says here in verse 37, not when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart and said, Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, men and brothers, what shall we do? Well, what do we do? Because they had crucified the Lord of glory. And he says in verse 38, then Peter said to them, repent, change your mind and be cleansed, baptized cleansed.
Every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, because or for the remission of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Now look in verse 41. They that gladly received his word were baptized, this would be in water, and the same day they were added unto them. How many? You think that’s just a coincidence. The run of the law, which took place about 50 days out from the cross of the Red Sea, and 3,000 are dead.
Now you’ve got 3,000 that believe. But it’s just a coincidence, right? I see some continuity through all these things. I really do. Now, is the rapture, which is the next thing to take place? Though it may happen on the Feast of Trumpet, which many believe, but is there a possibility that the 50th year of liberty of Jubilee could be what we might be looking for to find out. How close could that be? I have an idea that it might be somewhere along that line.
Of course, I haven’t figured it out. Of course, you know that I haven’t figured out any years from that date to where we are now and divided by 50. You know I wouldn’t do anything like that. You know that I probably wouldn’t even waste my time because you can’t know the day of the hour or the times of the seasons. And if you did know it, I mean, it wouldn’t change anything anyway. I do believe this. I believe he could come at any moment.
I lived looking for him to come back today. I would hate to think that he won’t come back for a whole year. He might come tomorrow. Might come this afternoon. But wouldn’t it be great to know that you have eternal life and know that you’re going to heaven? So you see, God has designed this whole thing. Old Testament, New Testament, none of the law. under grace and all these time and things like that. It all flows together. It’s unreal.
You see, you can’t understand the new Testament without the old and you need the new to explain the old too. You gotta have both of them. They go together. This is one awesome book. Man didn’t write this book. God wrote this book. Let me show you this. You know what was interesting? I was up there in Minnesota and was sitting around a table and this year one guy came up there and he just sitting there. He says, how you enjoying things?
I said, pretty good. And food’s good. The meetings have been good. And he says, along the lines of, you know, how do you give the gospel? I says, glad you asked. So I pulled out my wallet and I went through this. I said, this hand represents you and me. And the wallet represents sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us, but he hates what we do wrong. And the Bible says that if we pay for sin, it’s death and hell.
But God loves us and doesn’t want us to go to hell. He wants us to go to heaven, but to go to heaven we have to be perfect, no sin. But because of sin we can’t get in, so we got a problem. And the Lord says you can’t earn eternal life, you can’t work your way to heaven. So that bad news. So you can’t save yourself. This end represents Jesus Christ, he’s the Lord God in the flesh. Came into the world because he loves us, hates our sin because it separates us from it.
So Jesus Christ who had no sin took ours, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead, and said that if you and I, if we would believe that Jesus Christ did it for us, he would give us his a freak gift, everlasting life and we get to go to heaven. And they looked at me and he smiled, he says, that’s the way I do it. I said, what? He said, I use the wallet too.
I says, you do. Is it, yep. I said, where did you get that problem? He says, out of a book. I said, what book? He says, I don’t know. I don’t know where I got the book. But I know that I’ve done show that thing to over 100 people using that little while in the illustration. He says, you ever heard of anything called a ranch? I said, kind of. He says, I read this book that somebody had given to me, and it talked about some kid that didn’t have it all together.
I said, the Jim Tengen story, he said, that’s the book. He said, how’d you know? I said, I wrote that book. Somebody had given him a copy of the Jim Tengen story, and in that story it shows you how to give the gospel with the wallet illustration. And this guy had seen it in a book and he couldn’t believe it. He even had to tell somebody. He said, you can’t believe this. And I thought, this is interesting. But anyway, I enjoy serving the Lord.
And anyway, I thought I’d share that with you. But if you’re here this morning and you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, if you’re not sure, positive, you’re gonna go to heaven when you die, you’re probably art, but you can. But you can’t get there by earning it. Church cannot get you to heaven. Religion will not help you. You don’t start trying to live a certain way hope that you’ll be good enough someday and you’ll make it. Eternal life is a free gift.
If I offered you my watch and you accepted you’d have a watch and if I offered you my wallet you’d have an empty wallet. And if Christ walked in here and offered you eternal life and you accepted you would have eternal life. If it’s eternal life it lasts forever. If it lasts forever, all your sins are paid, then where would you go when you die? You go to heaven. That’s why it’s the best news in all the world. Let’s pray, shall we?
Every head down every I close. No one looking around. If you’re here this morning and you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior friend, I’m not going to embarrass you. I’m not going to have you stand up or come forward. I’m not going to ask you to do anything to put you on the spot. I’m going to ask you in just a moment to raise your hand, but it’s not to get saved. It’s not so that I can point you out.
It’s so that I know if I made sense to you if you understood and I like to have prayer for you and close it and that’s all. So in the quietness of this moment is there any word also? Yes, I want to be certain I’m going to heaven and this morning I believe Christ died and paid for my sins and I’m going to trust Him to take me to heaven whenever I die. I believe He did it for me and friend if you will do just that much I’d like to know it and I’d like to have prayer for you.
If you’ve already trusted Christ as your Savior you don’t have to do it again. You only have to do it once. But if you’ve never done it before, would you trust Christ right now? And if you will, would you just slip your hand very quickly and put it right back down? Is there any words off? Just anyone else? Just God bless you, sir. Anyone else? Just slip it up very quickly and put it right back down. By that you mean, just pray for me, I will accept Christ as my Savior.
And friend, if you trust Christ right now, God saves you right now, gives you eternal life right now and you can know that you’re going to heaven now and he’ll never cast you out doesn’t that good news Father we thank you so much for all you’ve done for us and Father for the one that indicated by an uplifted hand that they would trust your Savior and to follow anyone who does so you guarantee them in the free gift of eternal life that you’ll never cast to my never lose them we ask your blessings upon the each person here and and just pray to God, you give us a good service tonight.
