We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ and that today’s concluding message of this teaching will be a blessing to you and your family. verse seven, where he makes a statement that being justified by his <= grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Verse eight, this is a faithful saying, and these things I will with thou affirm constantly that they which have believed in God might be careful to, and herealthy, and here’s three wonderful words, maintain good works.

See it’s one thing to start is another thing to finish. If you maintain good works, you will finish. Ith’s just like you canecause build a building, but it has to be maintained. You are born into this world, but you have to maintain the bodygerald. doesn’t eat foodository, help maintain the??JM.Residents I’m going to do a little bit You’re a little bit more this Sunday. And when you drink, you’re maintaining the body. You’re trying to keep it healthy so you can keep on going.

But your body, the older you get the more maintenance it needs. Most of the people we pray, prayer for, are older folks. True? Why? They need more maintenance. And you know that if you don’t keep it maintained, Right. you could have a problem. You ever get a good car, a good running car, and then you don’t put oil in it? You realize that you run a risk of blowing up that engine. Or if you run it without water in it, do you know you could really do a number on that thing, blow the head gasket, then you got problems.

How’d everything happen? And sometimes you think, For the lack of a few quarts of oil, you just cost yourself a motor because you didn’t maintain it. So God tells us in His Word not only to begin the race, but to maintain the race. Keep doing good works. The Bible tells us in the book of Acts, talking about in chapter 10 about, you know, Jesus, everywhere when He went about doing good. Sometimes we do good for people if I 529.

I can give them a heaven================ track. Okay, well what if you can’t give them a heaven-trying? Can you just do goodMinorbody if you don’t get a chance to say a word? I’ll open the door for you if you’ll let me preach to you for two minutes. You’re to do good regardless. And the Bible says, especially to those that… track? Can you just do good for somebody if you cig discipline grace teaches us to serve the Lord and serving the Lord is serving people and if you don’t serve people You don’t serve God.

Figure out how you’re going to serve God without people. Now we get to heaven, maybe there’s astatus way. We’ll just worship there. But notice what he Vaugh says. He makes a statement there in confir8Due. In the last part of verse eight, he says, These things are good and profitable unto mennv. They’re good and they’re profitable. adequ. And he alsoRelates a statement in verse 14. See the verse 14, let ours also learn to maintain good works. As he says here, for necessary uses, good works are necessary.

You see, good works is the stone upon whichCooldown is another good work. And the Bible talks about let men see your good work so- so that they can glor your Father, which is in heaven. So you need to tell people why you need to tell people, why you need tosql. It’s possible POLITICO. But that’s letting your light shine. People seeing the grace of God through you. And therefore that means you’re gonna bestow love on those that are not lovable, and you’re gonna be kind to those that are not very kind to you.

And you’re not gonna be mean and ugly toward those that are mean and ugly toward you because then, all you’re doing is walking in the flesh. You’re living like a lost man. What’s the difference? A Christian is supposed to be peculiar. Oh, but you’re right. I’m talking about you’re supposed to be in a good way, strange compared to the way other people are. You’re different. A Christian is supposed to be different. Do you know there’s lost people that show more compassion than God’s people?

And are more forgiving and understanding and have a sweeter spirit. And here’s some Christian and ugly and as cantankerous as cantankerous. You know STATS. I’m glad they’re like that here. Nobody here like that. Everybody here says, I know somebody. This sermon is just perfect for you. And you duck down and hit the one behind you. But the person on the last row, you got it. That’s you. But anyway, turn to Hebrews in chapter 13. Hebrews and chapter 13. Hebrews chapter 13.

You and I need to keep this in mind because it is so important. In Hebrews chapter 13, looking verse six. So that we may boldly say five little words. The Lord is my helper. The Lord is my helper. Why should I say something like this that boldly say, the Lord is my helper? Because you see in the verse right before that, when he says, let your behavior, your manner of life, your conversation be without covetousness, be content with such things as you have, I don’t know anybody like that, be content with such things as you have.

Let’s say everybody lives in tents. One is content and the other one is discontent, but everybody lives in tents. But anyway, he says, for he hath said, now what did he said? He hath said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. Well that doesn’t help me unless I know the reason why he will never leave me and never forsake me. The next verse tells me the reason. And you can boldly say, the Lord is my helper. Why won’t He leave me?

Because I need Him to help me. He won’t forsake me. Why won’t He forsake? Because I need Him to help me. But did you knowfinger that you can get to where you want to live your life without His help? That’s when you become so frustrated. You lose focus and you become helpless. And you don’t understand, you have somebody living inside of you, they will never leave you and never forsake you. And the reason is because of what he says right here.

I will not leave you, never forsake you. The Lord is my helper. And because of that, I will not fear what man shall do unto me. But you see, verse six goes back to the foundation stone in the previous verse, verse five. So you and I are supposed to know this and we’re supposed to understand it. We’re supposed to believe it and it’s supposed to change our life. Can? Look at the book of James. Turn to your right a little bit here.

Look at James 4. James 4 and look in verse six. When he talks about the lesson that God’s grace teaches us, as you live your life, you know fromraged of Hebrews in chapter four that there is a throne of grace. A throne of grace. You mean, I need more grace? Because okay, let’s say for example, somebody treats you really dirty. And you wanna treat them right, but you find it a little difficult. been there. All right, God has a throne.

And if you’ll go to that throne of grace. He will give you the grace that you need to help in time of need. Because there’s sometimes in your life when you’re not as strong as you ought to be. So going to the Lord who is your helper and calling upon him because he will never leave you and never forsake you, and he’s there to help you. There’s times in your Christian life when you need a little extra boost. You know, the little extra strength to keep you going.

the Lord knows all about that stuff. See there in verse six, but He giveth more grace. But He giveth more grace. Just five little words, just five little words. And verse six where He says, but He giveth more grace. For what? Look who He gives it to. Wherefore He says, God resisted the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. He giveth more grace. He giveth more grace to who? The one that’s what? Humble. Humility is not a position of the mind.

And that’s why he says, casting all Guardiola cares of for you. Pride is, I can do it myself. I don’t need any help. I don’t need God’s help. andise. Nobody’s help. I’m a self-made man. So a man who humbles himself to the Lord and yourself to do it God’s way and treat people the way God wants you to. God said, I’llbley give you more grace so that you can do it. That’s God’s way of helping you. Like one time this little boy had a big old rock and he couldn’t move the rock.

He tried everything. He pushed that rock. He got it against it. He did everything he couldn’t move that rock. He even got a big old stick and tried to I pushed that sit down in frustration and I pushed that road. and nothing happened. And sit down in frustration, started crying, and started crying, and started crying, and and daddy says, what’s the matter? I’m just frustrated. I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried everything to move that rock, and I can’t move that rock.

He says, you didn’t try everything, son. I did too. No. You didn’t ask me. You didn’t ask me. He said, would you help me? He says, see that little rock over there? He said, yeah. He said, put it right here. He said, see that stick over there? Yeah, get that stick, put it right there and stick it down in there. Now get back here on this end of the stick. He’s in that pull down on it and the rock moved.

Sometimes it’s God can show you where things are that you couldn’t see before. God enlightens your mind. God can give you understanding. God will watch you get frustrated. He will watch you lose it. God will not stop you from being angry and upset. You’re not His little robot. He will watch you totally fall apart. As he says in the book of Proverbs in chapter one, he says, because thou didst not hear my counseling. And listen to what I had to say.

There’s a day coming when your calamity will come. And God says, I will laugh. I will laugh. So why would God laugh? Because you laughed at God. You mocked God. you didn’t think that this is king you’re not just you going to read orOTOS you didn’t have to do it god’s way so god let you their way god or let you get his frustrated fall apart and break apart dragjorn Mul grun persevering god will let you he don’t stopinement you see because you’re getting what you deserve you wanted that she wants that yes you decided god says if you’re yourself and not try to always do things your way and submit to me, Rogue, ront to me, I’ll give you I’ll give you allitution behavi And if you let me, I’ll help you.

I know where everything is. I know everything about everything. And I see things you can’t see. illance I know where\) everything is. I know everything about everything. And I see things you can’t see. And I can help you But then there’s no way stri got to do it. Aren’t you glad that he’s not limited by our own limited thinking? And so that’s what we do. We limit, we limit God. And it’s a shameful thing that we do it. Look in the bookgdala 1 Peter chapter 2.

ryu, 1 Peter chapter 2. You trusted Christ as your Savior. You know you AUTH have eternal life. You’re going to heaven when you Manafort. You are born again. Bored again, but born again. Bored. So you see there in 1 Peter 1, just like in verse 23, being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible. Now we often hear the phrase about Jesus rose again from the dead. So somebody emailed me one time and says, if Jesus rose again from the dead, that means He had to do it before, right?

If he rose again from the dead, that means he had to be dead before and he rose again. He did it twice. I said, no, no, no, no. Is it well? Well, he was alive and he died. He is a-a-g-e-n. To rise again means he was alive, again controversially. He was alive, he died, He rose again. When the Bible talks about you must be born again, means I’ve been born before, but I’ve never been born from above. So I was alive in my first birth.

I died in Christ and am alive again. So I was alive and then I died and I’m alive. I’ve been born again by the incorruptible world of God. See there in verse 23, chapter 1. Not a… not a corruptible seed but of incorruptible by the word of God which liveth and!, abide it forever. GUI so born again. I was born again by the incorruptible word. It means it cannot die. It liveth and abide it forever. It’s just like having some corn that came from a kernel of corn.

A tomato plant with tomatoes on it came from tomato seed. This is the result of that, my new birth is a result of the incorrupt, so word. So my new birth can’t sin, can’t sin, can’t die. So I will live at a bide forever. But I’m not there yet in all of my fullness and glory that I’m going to have with my new body. I’m still living inAug this wicked, oh sinful world. So I need to do something that will help me while So I’m here.

So in verse one of chapter two, wherefore, because of the truth that’s written right before this that we just mentioned, wherefore lay in a side all malice and all guile and hypocrisy and envies and all evil speaking, that’s from the first birth. That’s from the first birth. In verse 2, as a newborn babe now, as a newborn babe. the Word of God, desire the sincere milk of the Lord, and look look at the next five little words that you may grow there by that yououtheast Gi Pengu accomp Because of the flesh, they keep you from growing.

So one of the biggest hindrances to your growth in the Lord is the old lust of the flesh, the old body, your sinful body. You have a wicked mind. God didn’t change that, He just gave you a new one, and He says, now this is how I want you to think. If you will, I have given you my word that you may grow there by See what he says in verse two as new born babes desire The lust of the flesh and the things of the world and making money and been powerful and famous No, that’s not what he said desire How many things just this sincere milk of the word?

Do you realize that of all the things that you need to grow strong is just the word, the word of God? Why do you think here at this church we try to teach people the word, the word, the word of God? Because I can’t make people grow. I can’t make one Christian strong. The word can, I can’t. I can only point you to the word. I can’t apply it to. You have toLaun’t youInitialized to your life and you will grow there by.

Look what he says. In verse 3, If so be you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Shinzo When he says you have tasted, pasted the word of God is how it says here that the Lord is gracious. If the word is gracious, then the Lord is gracious. If you love the word, you can love the Lord. But if you don’t love the word, you don’t love God. God is only revealed and He’s only precious to you if the word is precious to you.

Because you can’t know Him outside of the pages of this book. So there’s a lot of people that will yield themselves to what God has to say, and a lot of people will not. But look in your Bible to the book of 1 John chapter 4, 1 John and chapter 4. First John chapter 4. First John chapter 4 and look there in verse 18. In verse 18, there is no fear in love. Just five little words. But there’s a message in those five little words.

There’s no fear in love. Do you really believe God loves you? If you really believe that, what are you afraid of? What are you afraid of? If you really believe there’s no fear in love. And this whole chapter four talks about how much God loves us and that God is love. Well just look at this, I mean just look up there in verse seven. Beloved, let us love one another. Love is of God. Everyone that loveth born of God, knoweth God.

He that loveth not, knoweth not God. God is love. And this was manifested the love of God toward us because that God sent his only begot. and son into the world that we might live through him. Hearing is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought to love one another. Do you see the word love anywhere in here?

And then he tells us at the end of all of this, there’s no fear in love. If you really, really believe that God really loved you, there isn’t one reason for you to be afraid, not in reality. And this is faith in the facts. We often talk about, well, you know, faith is just blind faith. Oh, not really. If this is true, this is the facts. This is faith in the facts. It’s because I know it’s true, not blind, it’s true.

That’s why I can have boldness. That’s why I can have trust. That’s why I can believe God really does love me. And if he really loves me, then I don’t have to worry and be afraid because he says he’ll never leave me and never forsake me and he will help me and he even supplied a throne of grace so that I can get all that I need in time of need. Sound pretty good to me? Just turn your page there and look in third John And look there in verse four, verse four, I have no greater joy.

I could say there’s wonderful five little word, but then to hear that my children walk in truth, my children walk in truth. You see, the one thing that you want is for your children, not just your physical children, but the people you reach for the Lord, the people you can influence. You want to see other people walk in truth. I have no greater joy. As the years have passed by 52 of them for me, I’ve had no greater joy than to see the people that I’ve led to Christ walking with the Lord.

Now it breaks my heart when I have some that don’t, but there’s great joy with those that do. Yeah, you’d grieve and you have a broken heart, But you remember, God gives you grace to keep walking with Him. Just keep walking with the Lord. You don’t have to figure out everything. You don’t have to know everything. God does not have to give me an explanation why He does what He does. He’s God. That ought to be good enough. He’s God.

I’m just told to trust Him. True? Now what am I worried about? What in the world could there be that would cause you to worry all night long? I was always told if God never slumbers and sleeps, there’s no sense both of us stand awake at night. Does that make sense? Look up here. This hand represents you and me. Wall it represents sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us. And he loves us so much that he wants us to go to heaven, but because we’ve all sinned.

We all have to die. And God says that we have to be perfect to go to heaven and nobody’s perfect. We’ve all come short of God’s glory. As we were talking about there in the book of Titus in chapter 3, how we were rebellious, disobedient, you name it, that’s us. Hateful, mean, spiteful because of ubbels of sinful nature. And God says that we cannot save ourselves. But God, the kindness of God appeared. And God showed us how much He loved us while we were yet sinners.

He demonstrated, manifested His love toward us. Now while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He took all of our sins, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead and said if we’d believe he did it for us, he would put this payment to our account and we get to go to heaven on what Jesus Christ did for us. There’s no tricks to us, no gimmicks to it. Best news in all the world. So I pray that you’ve trusted Christ as your Savior.

I hope that what we’ve said would have been a blessing. Let’s pray, shall we? If you’re here tonight and you’ve never trusted the Lord, why not trust Him as your Savior? Believe in that He died and paid for your sins. He loves you so much. If you’ve never done it, you may have heard about it, but maybe you’ve never trusted the Lord. Do you really want to go to heaven? You can. It’s a gift totally free. All that you have to do is the only thing you can do.

Believe he died for you. So it heads about nice clothes, or if you’re watching by internet, this applies to you too. Would you write now the best? You know how will you trust Christ as your Savior? If you trust He saves you right now and gives you as a free gift, everlasting life. I pray that you will. Who knows better than God what you’re going through. Nobody understands you like he does, and he cares about you. And there’s many things that you’re going to have to face in life that may not be pretty, but God can give you the grace, the strength that you need to face, whatever it may be.

You see, I may be able to easily preach this sermon today, but I may have to apply it totally tomorrow because I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow or the next day, but I believe my Heavenly Father will walk me through it, talk to Him all the time, seek Him. He said, He’ll never leave you, never forsake you, and the reason is because He wants to be there when you need Him, and He wants to help you. Our Father, we thank You so much for Your words that You’ve given to us, simple little words, simple verses that have great truth in them.

We ask You, blessed upon each one here, blessed by the Christ, and we pray. Amen.
