I have mentioned in the past about types of illustrations that Jesus Christ used to explain the union between us and himself. And sometimes he would refer to the men and wife and sometimes the union between the head the body, the shepherd, the sheep, the fine and the branches. But there’s something that’s close to all of those illustrations. And if you don’t get this point, you don’t get any of the illustrations definite message that God wants us to have. So we’re going to start off in the book of Genesis and go through the book of revolution.

Genesis and chapter 1, we’re going to start at the beginning. I want to show you something because if you don’t get this point, you may not get any of it and I want you to understand it. Genesis chapter 1, God took dirt, shape of a man breathed into his nossals the breath of life, man became a living soul. But then he needed something else to kind of cap off his crown and glory and nice when he made a woman.

I’m kind of glad myself. Verse 27, chapter 1, so God created man in his own image. In the image of God created him, male and female. Please note that. That’s very important. created He them. So God in the beginning made a man and He made a woman. And verse 28, and God blessed them and God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply, replenish the year, subdue it, and blah, blah, blah, blah. Now when He makes this statement, be fruitful.

He told them He made a man, He made a woman and told them to be fruitful and multiply. What do you think he means? Now I know this is a hard question, it’s very difficult, but I want you to think about it. I want you to try to see if you can understand. He made a man and he made a woman and told him to be fruitful and multiply. What do you think he meant? Well, if you don’t know, don’t you get married because you may not understand this process Yes.

This is very important when he says be fruitful. Now you and I know, and we’re not dumb, he’s talking about having kids. How many already knew the answer? Let me see your hand. Come on. How many of you didn’t have a clue? Let me see your hand. I’ve done that. The only one who didn’t raise their hand was Johnny Williams and it’s, but it says be fruitful and multiply. So that means that the reason God made a man and God made a woman, just not just so they could say, hello, darling, not just so they could just coo and hug.

God wanted more. And he made a man and he made a woman. And he wanted them to have kids. Well, what I’ve understood, there’s only one way to do that. And evidently, they found out what to do. Now I told you this is going to be a deep message. It’s just going to really be deep. Some of you are trying to decide whether or not to get up now and leave. You say, well, where’s it going? It’s a good question.

I don’t know. But look at Exodus chapter… No, first of all, look in chapter 9 of the book of Genesis, chapter 9, see how fast we’re moving along? Chapter 9 and look in verse 1, he didn’t destroy the earth, he saved eight people. There’s Noah, Mrs. Noah, the three sons and their wives. They just got off this big old boat. And I wonder why he had two of every kind go on to the ship. Can you figure that out?

the ones he took on the ship weren’t going to live forever nor the people were going to live forever and that would have been the end of everything if God didn’t have something created within them with the desire to reproduce. It’s a natural thing and God says here in verse 1 of chapter 9 God blessed Noah and his sons and he said unto them, now when he says he blessed them, well he didn’t mention the women here, he just mentioned no sons.

Maybe the women were the blessing. If you women ever thought that you were the blessing, who says something over here? I got a hundred and I’m going to have a little help this morning, but he says be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. In the words, God wanted more. That’s why He saved two of every kind and why He saved the men and the women because He wanted them to reproduce, to have fruit. Now, you and I need to understand.

It’s wonderful that you and I can just talk to the Lord and He can become so real precious to you and you study His word and you can pray, you can do all those things, but there is something more that God wants. And it’s just not you sitting at His feet studying His word. That is precious. The story about Mary Martha, that’s a wonderful story. But the part about being fruitful and multiply is very, very import. It’s the reason for everything.

It is the main issue. Because see, if nobody reproduced, we’re the last generation. If nobody had any kids, we’re it. There won’t be nobody else. What if the last generation had to said that? Then we wouldn’t have been here. I’m glad to have lived. I’m glad to be alive, though sometime I wonder not for long. But I do want you to look at Bible Exodus chapter 21, the book of Exodus 21. Now you need to look at these verses.

I know some of you got the Bible committed to memory, but look at it anyway, just make me feel good. Exodus chapter 21, and I want you to look in verse 22, if men’s strive, that means a fight, hurt a woman with child, and that her fruit depart from her. And yet, no mischief follow, he shall be surely punished according to the woman’s husband will lay on him, and he shall pay as the judge determines. And if any mischief follow, then thou give life for life.

Now that child in a mother’s womb, God says that’s fruit and that’s a child in that it’s life and that if that child dies because of some action of somebody else that man is to be put to death. Did we just read that? Now I’m making this up. God wants the fruit, and it is a shame that in America that we are murdering. Over 50 million babies since they passed one little law. You know, even all those babies that have been murdered, though that is a terrible, terrible thing.

What bothers me also is all the women that did it. You realize that there is a possibility that somewhere along the line, they don’t have the moral character that they used to have to have or should have. Why would you even want to do that? But I want you to see something else because I believe it’s so important. But I want to show you that it is according to what God says and what He wants, the word fruit. Though we could say the fruit of our lips giving praise unto the Lord.

Yes, that’s true. There is the fruit of the Holy Spirit, but I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about another kind of fruit. The fruit that reproduces after its own kind, like a fruit yielding trees, seed-bearing trees, all these things are important. Look in Deuteronomy chapter seven, Deuteronomy and chapter seven. Then look in verse 13, chapter seven and verse 13. Well, the Lord has made a promise here and he’s saying in verse 13, and he will love thee and bless thee and multiply them.

He will also bless the fruit of thy womb. The fruit of thy womb. You see, some people seem to have a problem with whoa, what is in that womb? It’s just a blob. It’s nothing. It’s just a gob, a flesh. No, that’s a child. That’s a gift from God. That’s the fruit of the womb. That’s what God designed and set up to continue the human race. This is what God wants. And I don’t believe that people ought to try to play God.

I believe this is so important. Now I want you, we’re going to be coming back a little bit to the Old Testament, but there’s another verse I wanted to show you. deals with the husband and the wife and the fruit, the fruit of the womb. Look there in the book of Ephesians and chapter 5, Ephesians chapter 5. Now we’re told in the book of Ephesians chapter 5 about the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Holy Spirit. It talks about wives submitting themselves to their husbands and husbands loving their wives.

So it’s a wonderful chapter. It really is. See there in verse 25, husbands love your wives. How much as Christ also loved the church and gave himself, or be willing to give your life for your wife? Well, that’s going a little too far. What didn’t you take a vow until death do us part? And she says, he still hasn’t. So he says here in this verse that we ought to understand something about the marriage relationship because he’s talking about God’s love for his church.

So he says here in verse 30, for we are members, or we are members of his body, of his flesh and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, shall be joined unto his wife, and they too shall be one flesh.” Now, so I wonder what that means. Well, you know, when man, woman come together and there’s a little Johnny, he was one made from two. They say it takes two to tango, there’s a tango.

Now, believe it or not, even though in these verses it doesn’t say anything about children. It doesn’t talk about the fruit of the world. But look in chapter 6 and verse 1 and what’s the first word you see? Where did they come from? Because see, there can’t be any children unless something else takes place. And it’s supposed to be between a man and a woman that are married, that love each other. And that child is the be a precious thing.

This, God set this up. It’s what God wants. So therefore, it’s a very important thing. And then you teach them little children how to obey God by teaching them to obey Mommy and Daddy. So if they do that, then they’ll be all right. Supposedly. Take your Bible and turn to the book of Psalms, 127 Psalm. The Old Testament, 127 Psalm. and look there in verse three. You see, if you understand if the fruit in the womb is important and it was designed by God, then you’ll know when the child is born, the child is still important and you’ll understand that because you came from a child, you are important.

But if the child in the womb is not important, the child born is no more important and the adults are not important neither. Because see, there’s people that don’t believe the Bible and if you don’t believe the Bible, you don’t believe in God. You don’t believe in creation. You don’t believe you’re specially designed by God and you can believe in evolution. You’re just, I just blob on the evolutionary ladder. So look here in 127th Psalm in verse 3, Low children are in heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Now listen, we know that when we serve the Lord, when we get to heaven, God’s going to reward us. Now, God says that when a man and a woman love each other, And they come together as one, the child is your reward. Now I admit some people have more rewards than others. It’s like a reward. So you look at that little rug rat and you say, that’s a reward. And they’re all yours. See when my kids were obedient, they’re mine.

They’re disobedient, they’re hers. You don’t think I’d raise disobedient kids, do you? But when you have children, you’re supposed to love them and raise them to honor the Lord and to put God first in everything. They are the fruit, the reward of you loving each other the way God says to love each other. And you’re going to have some children. Now if you can’t have children, that’s one thing. I’m not talking about that. If you’re single, don’t have any.

you find that right girl and that right boy you know you’re not men and men they can’t have any. To women they can’t have any. If everybody will become homosexual that’d be the end of the human race. Look there now in verse 5. In verse 5 happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them. How many arrows do you have in your quiver? Children, are you be your reward? How do you like your rewards so far? Look, I didn’t write it.

Sometime I don’t even understand it. But there it is, it’s in black and white. And I believe God does, He does love us. Take your Bible, look in Proverbs chapter 11. Proverbs chapter 11. And look in verse 30. Proverbs chapter 11 verse 30. Now we understand it, and you need to understand that this, it is fruit that is so important between a man and a woman. It was the way God designed it in the garden of Eden. But there’s also something else he mentioned here, in verse 30, the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.

He that win of souls is wise. So I know when he’s talking about the fruit of the righteous, the tree of life is talking about so many. So here you are, you’re trusting Christ as your savior. You have eternal life. Do you believe that God wants you to have fruit? Remember, Christ is the bridegroom. We’re the bride. And we’re supposed to have spiritual fruit because of our union with the Lord. And so therefore God wants us to have fruit.

Yes, God wants you to sit around and study the Bible. And yes, He wants you to pray. And yes, He wants you to treat your neighbor right. Yes, He wants you to pay your bills. He wants you to work hard and be a good example. But He also expects us to win souls. Now, if you can’t see that, you’ve got a problem. You can, we got married, but all we do is hold hands. You’ve got a problem. Marriage is more than just sitting around holding hands and eating old milk in the morning and, you know, eggs later on or toast and so on.

There’s more to marriage than that. And if you don’t know what it is, I got second door on the right. Come and see me. I might need to give you a little counseling. But it’s so important, because God’s word says the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. Oh, look there with me in Mark chapter four. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Mark chapter four. Mark chapter four, and look in verse seven. There’s an illustration here of the parable of the sower.

He went forth to sow. And so he says here in verse three, and he harkened, behold, there went out a sower to sow.” That sounds good. And it came to pass as he sowed. Some fell by the wayside, and the fowl of the air came and devoured it up. Some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth. And immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away.

Some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. What did he expect? Is that what he’s after? He’s after fruit. You sow the seed because you want something to grow. From that which you sow, you want fruit to come from it. You expect fruit. All farmers expect fruit. You have fruit trees. Everything reproduces after its own kind. So God wants there to be fruit. And the reason is so deceived, and some of it didn’t have any fruit because, well, there were thorns.

There were briars, stony ground. In other words, there was something that kept it from growing and becoming strong. All right? Here you are. Now, he’s telling this, but he’s telling it for a reason. There’s a point to be made. If you are not a soul winner, in other words, if you don’t pass out tracks and you don’t talk to anybody about the Lord, you just don’t do it. You know youdescription you just don’t do it. Is it because his word fell on stony ground?

You have a hard heart, you don’t really care. People are gonna die and they’re gonna go to hell and you really don’t care. There’s a lot of Christians like, they just don’t care. As long as they got their own little pinkies inside to perligate their satisfying. But it says something to him. It jokes it. I’ll never forget the day. It was that in Colorado. This is an old farmhouse. I mean, really old. My son, Eddie, was born there. And we had a couple that was stayed at the house with the for a little while.

Marvin Donut Jansen. And he worked on our buses so we could get the bus ministry going later. But anyway, he had a wife. And sometime she would start like she couldn’t get her breath. And I thought she was going to die. And so I watched, and all of a sudden, Marv Janssen, he went and got a paper sack and put it over her head. Now I thought he’s trying to kill his wife. I said, what are you doing? I said, why’d you put that sack over you?

wife of your wife. He said, because she hyperventilates. I haven’t, what’s hyperventilate? I don’t know what that is. I said, what are you talking about? She’s getting too much oxygen. I said, what are you going to do? Cut off the oxygen so she don’t get as much oxygen. I said, then why don’t you just choke her? But I didn’t understand why he was putting a sack over her head. Anybody ever heard of that before?

Raise your hand. I can’t, I can’t believe that. Y’all. Oh, boy. I thought I’d seen something nothing nobody’s ever saying before. It slowed down so because you were getting too much, I never heard anybody getting too much oxygen. I’ve heard about not getting enough. You know, when you can’t breathe at all, so he thought that he’s not, I thought he’s over there with sack. He put this paper sack overhead and I thought he’s gonna, he’s trying to kill her and he was trying to save her life.

And I come, I come this close of stopping what he was doing. But he explained it very quickly. I thought, so he just choked her. I got to squeeze the neck. Maybe this. But there’s things that comes up and it, it choked her where you don’t have life. And a good sign that you have some life is that you have some fruit and God wants us to bear fruit. Look in verse 8, and other fell on good ground and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased and brought forth some, 30, some 60, and some 100 fold.

So there is some fruit that came from some of the seed because of where it fell on good ground. If you’re not bearing fruit, doesn’t that bother you? It should bother you that it doesn’t bother you. It should bother you that it doesn’t bother you. Because you know that you should have some fruit. You want people to know the Lord and to trust Him. Take your Bible look in John chapter 4, the gospel of John. John chapter 4. and looked at verse 36.

Verse 36, now Jesus had gone to see the woman at the well. She’d been married five times. She was living with a man that wasn’t her husband. So she would fit right in today. She would not have stood out at all. And she probably would have to go to the well alone. The whole city would be there. But anyway, they asked the question the Bible, you know, hey, the disciples came back and says, you got anything to eat? He said, I have meat to eat that you know not of.

Because they had gone into town to McDonald’s and they got to my hamburger and they got something to eat, but Jesus went and talked to this woman at Dewell. And she went into the city and told all the men what she had heard. And they came out. Now, Jesus is talking to his disciples. And he says, in verse 34, he says, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work. In other words, that which really satisfies me.

You see, the meat that satisfies is doing the will of God. Are you doing with your life what God wants you to do? And if you don’t, nothing’s going to satisfy you. Nothing’s going to satisfy anybody. You see, it’s not how much knowledge you know. It’s what are you doing with what you know. Well, I like to eat some meat. Oh, that means you can really understand and you have real good discernment. Yeah, I just saw any life. If it’s not very good, you’re not deep.

And you couldn’t handle me if they gave it to you. This is the most important thing you can ever understand after you trust Christ as your Savior. The power of reproduction. How to get other people to trust Christ as Savior. Savior. If all I knew in the Bible was John 3, 16 Ephesians 2, 8, 9, 1 John 5, 13, and the wall of illustration I’m set. But I can do a lot with just that amount of knowledge and that one good little illustration.

And I bet I can win a lot of people to Christ in half. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a teaching ministry of Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida with Dr. Ralph Arnold.
