We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ, and that today’s concluding message of this teaching will be a blessing to you and your family. Look what if she says here. You see in verse five, it’s kind of giving you the idea about the impurities of the mind, the impurities of the mind. And it talks a little bit about, you know, sometimes the actions that are the result of the motives. And then in verse eight and nine, you’re talking about the motives that produce the actions.

And so you’re looking at this and you’re dwelling and trying to think of, you see, some of these things, they’re like in verse five, talking about personal sins. And then down in verse eight, talking about your social sins. You see, against other people, things you do to somebody, but there’s all these results that comes from it. And it makes the statement there in verse six, for which things sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience. See, you still have an old sinful nature.

You still have a body that desires the things of the world. And whether you’re saved or lost, God hates sin. And God says that his wrath comes upon the children of disobedience. You may be a child of God, but if you’re gonna act like a child of disobedience, you need to understand. God will not force you to love him. He won’t force you to serve him. You can live like you please. But there’s consequences to it. Everybody in this room can do exactly what you wanna do.

You can live any way you wanna do it. And you know it. I am a Christian. I’m going to heaven when I die and I can live any way I please. I can become as rebellious as I wanna be. I can live as mean and ugly and as dirty as I want to. And I’m still going to heaven, not because I deserve it, but because of grace. God loved me that much, that He paid for all of my sins, and He’ll give me eternal life.

And I go to heaven on what He did for me. I do not deserve that. But because I am God’s child, I know that if I become a child of wrath, if I become a child of rebellion, He’s my Father. I’m God’s child. And if I rebelled against the will of my heavenly Father, I know that my Heavenly Father, because He loves me, is going to be the living daylights out of me. Maybe even take me home before my time.

So you can’t live as you please and get away with it. Understand that. But you can live as you please. Many adults’ problems today is because they sold wild oats when they were young. And now years later they reap wild oats. You reap what they call the law of the harvest. You reap what you sow, same thing you sow, much later than you sow, but a lot more of course. So God says, I got something so much better for you.

But I want you to put off something. In other words, there is responsibility. God holds us responsible for the decisions that we make. You can’t hide behind, well, I just have a so sinful nature note. It’s just the way that I am. Yeah, everybody has that. But God doesn’t accept that as an excuse. You’re to be responsible for your decisions. You can also make right decisions. You can make God the decisions.

And so he makes this statement in verse 7, in the which you also walk sometimes when you lived in them. You used to be a lost man. You had an old body with a sinful nature and that’s what you did. But it looks like God wants you to live a different life after your saved. Not to be saved, not to prove you are saved. But because of what Christ has done for you what he’s done for me God wants me to serve him and he says if I would serve him he promised that he would bless me I Have looked over my life for the last 52 years not because they got to bless me.

I Don’t have regrets Because I’ve tried to give the Lord all my years and if he gives me another 10 years I like to give him those or whatever he else has left for me You should want the will of God for your life, but you got to set your affections on things that are above, not on things of this world. You’re going to lose things down here. People aren’t going to please you. People are not living to worship you.

Chances are their life doesn’t revolve around you. If you die, they’ll keep on living. I mean, they’ll mourn for a little while, a couple of days, and then you know. You’ve got to understand people have something about it’s me. Please me. Everybody make me happy. Nobody makes me happy. I’m counting the doubt. I’m miserable. God in the garden and eat worms. A little pet rock died. But look what he says. In verse 8 he says, but now. But now.

But now. That’s the way you are. That’s what you did. But now he says, I want you to know this, I want you to put off all these anger and wrath and malice blasphemy. You see, anger and wrath and malice, that deals a lot with the way that you’re thinking. It deals with your feelings. When you get hurt, you become bitter, and you get bitter, you get angry, angry you say things you shouldn’t say, and that builds up into malice you want to hurt somebody.

And God says the external part of that there is the filthy communication out of the mouth. Because you see how you think and how you feel it’s got to come out sooner or later and it’ll come out. But it’s because of the focus in your life. That’s what you love. What you’re thinking about. What you’re dwelling on. And so God says out of your mouth look there in Ephesians in chapter 4, just turn to your left just a few pages, but the book of Ephesians and chapter 4.

And look in verse 29, see this is talking to the Christian, to those that know the Lord, those that are going to heaven when they die. Not all of God’s children automatically do right. That’s why they have to be taught, to be trained. They have to be warned. They have to be rebuked at times. But in Ephesians chapter four verse 29 says, let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth. But that which is good to the use of edifying, not edifying, edifying, get this, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

You should say and do the things that you’re trying to help and build up a person, not tear them down. You see, Your light doesn’t become brighter because you blow out everybody else’s light. When you try to destroy someone else’s character, your doesn’t become better. But some people, they get blind, they can’t see. You see, you’re not a bigger person because you can tear down somebody else. Say things against somebody. You ought not do that. You ought not do that against your kids, or against your husband, or against your wife.

You see, as you read in the book of Colossians in chapter three, it’ll talk to you about all the things you’re supposed to do. Now are we looking at some things right now God says not to do? See the Christian life is not to be focused upon what you don’t do, but what you are to do, but he says you got to take off something first because I want you to put on something. Now go back to the book of Colossians.

You see in verse eight where he says, but now you also put off these, look in verse 10, and have put on the new man, which is created in knowledge after the image of him, that created him. When you trusted Christ as your Savior, you got a new birth. It was born of God. Look up here just very quickly. I’ve used this before, but just to kind of help explain some of these scriptures. When you and I were born into this world, we have a flesh birth, physical birth.

This is what you see. I have a flesh body. My body has within it a sinful nature. It sends naturally. I don’t want it. I wish it didn’t have it. But I got it because I was born into this world. I got it from my mom and daddy. They got it from their mother and daddy. And all the way back to Adam and Eve, they did it to us. And here we are with a no sinful nature. We are naturally rebellious.

We want our own way. And God says, all of the desires that we have are sinful. It leads us astray. There’s a way that’s seamless right unto a man, but the end, there are the ways of death. It leads to destruction because it leads us away from God. So we are spiritually dead. I mean, spiritually separated from God, the source of life. So when you and I trust Christ as our Savior, God doesn’t change this one. He gives you a new birth.

The new one is a spiritual birth. You can’t see a spiritual birth. I can see your physical birth, but I can’t see your spiritual birth. spiritual birth is born by the Spirit of God. And that is being born again, born from above, by the incorruptible seed, the word of God, which liveth and abighteth forever. So this birth came from this book, the incorruptible seed. This one came from the seed of my Father, a sinful nature. So now I have two verse.

This one can’t do anything good and this one can’t do anything bad. And they’re both living inside of this one body I’ve got. And they don’t hit along. They don’t get along. Fight all the time. And when I want to do right evil was present with me. And when I want to do this, this one is present with me. And so some Christians are so spiritually skinny they could use a chariot for a hula hoop. They don’t have any strength or power at all to have any victory over the OSYM for nature.

So God says, you only got one body, but put off the old man. Don’t let him control the body. I want you to let the new man control the body. Now he’s there but I don’t have to yield to the flesh. I have the flesh. I have the lust of the flesh. But if I satisfy those desires of the flesh, those desires will grow until they become like little monsters and destroy your life. But if I let the desires of the Lord control my life and I feed those desires.

You don’t feed a nature but you feed the desires of the nature. And when I feed that desire to want to please God, the desire to want to have the rewards when I get to heaven, the desire that I have for his praise and for his honor and for his glory, when I feed those desires they grow and they become strong. And he says, I think I have a curse. Shut up! You’re not going to do that. Because I’m stronger.

But if you don’t do that, I think I’m going to go to church today. You are not, you’re gonna stay home and watch Batman. So you got this terrible war going on in your life. So God says, put off this one, put on this one. And if you’ll put this one on and let the spirit control your life and the spirit controls your life by the word of God. So that’s why you read the study of the word of God so that you’ll know what God says to do and not to do, what’s right and what’s wrong.

He said, well, I already know what’s right and wrong. No, you don’t. God does. It’s not for every man to decide. It’s for God to tell you what’s right and what’s wrong, how you suppose to live. You wanna get married? Here’s the manual. Wanna raise kids? Here’s the manual. Wanna start your business? Here’s the manual. Got employees? Here’s the manual. This book is the book. It’s everything you and I need. Now I want you to notice this. Down in verse.

Nine lie, not one to another. Seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds and have put on the new man which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Renewed in knowledge. That’s why the Bible says in the book of Romans in chapter 12 and verse one and two, he says, and be not conformed to this world, but be a trans-born by the renewing of your mind. with the word of God, that you may prove or discover what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God for your life.

Did you know that you have a choice? You can ruin your life or you can do something with it. You can be what God wants you to be or you can be whatever you want to be. But you’re only going to get one shot at it. You’re going to give the lift one time through life. No reruns, no instant replays, just one trip through. How you doing so far? How you doing? You see, you’re wise when you can at least discern where you are and correct the problem and try to get back on track.

If the devil knocks you off, get back up, he knocks you down five times get up six. Just keep getting up all the time to stay up. Always keep getting up. Never let him win. Now, the verses these verses down through here are awesome verses because I’m going to cover more about this in detail tonight. But for right now, I want you to see what God wants you to do when you renew your mind with the Word of God.

How much do you think God wants you to know about the Word. Well, Paul put it this way, I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Everybody needs counseling. Every time I preach, I’m counseling you. If you listen to what I say, you’ll never have to go to those shrinks out there. I’ll say, all you need this. This is what you need. You need the book. You need to know the Word of God. Now, listen what he says.

In verse 12, I want you to look in verse 12, put on, therefore as the elect of God, you’re his child, chosen to serve him. See, God has chosen that every one of his children was serving, but a lot of people don’t. Put on, therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, because that’s your position in Christ. That’s how God sees you. Biles of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mine, meekness, long suffering, for bearing one another, forgiving one another.

Do you see anything different than you do over there in verse 5 and 8? Anything different? You see, one is the old man and the other one is the new one. How do you think God wants you to live? You think that He wants you to have more love and peace and joy and happiness. That’s what God wants. But you see, you think you’ll have to get it your way. Your way won’t work. It’s temporary. There is pleasure in sin for a season.

For sure, per the time, yes, all things. Otherwise, you wouldn’t do it. Nobody would live in sin if it wasn’t fun. Of course, it’s fun. But not for long. So look what he says. In verse 13, when he makes a statement, forgiving one another. And he says, forbearing one another. If any man have a quarrel against any, get your gun. Now even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. Have you ever had anybody wrong you? Have they wrong you?

What do you want to do? Give them a Hawaiian punch. Only in Christian love, because you didn’t love to do it. Are you strong enough in the Lord that you can forgive them? give them. You know some people would love for you to lose your cool, become angry and bitter at them because that’s the way they are. They would love to pull you down to their level. It’s up to you. You can live however you choose to live and understand this.

You will live the way you really want to live. Now you can’t blame everybody under the sun. She made me do it. You made me mad. You offended me. But not without your permission. You have to give your permission for people to ask why I’ve told people over and again. Serve the Lord like you have never been hurt because if you don’t the hurt will turn to bitterness and into anger and then the malice. And then filthy communications will come out of your mouth.

Because the motives will be there and then the actions. And that’s what you find in verse five and also in verse eight. But look what it says. As you read down through here and you just got to see this. You see in verse 15, let the peace of God rule in your heart. To the which also ye are called in one body and you are on the line, these three little words. Be thankful. Be thankful. Did you know that God says in verse 16, let the word of Christ dwell on you richly?

Why do you got to have that? Because he’s the Holy Spirit can’t lead you contrary to the word. So as you study the word of God, the Holy Spirit, who is the author of this book lives inside of you and He will lead you and guide you.” And He says, in verse 16, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs and acid rock and everything else you want to listen to, it doesn’t really matter.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a minute. Music does matter. Kind of music you listen to, it does matter. I believe it should be to the Lord, pull the Lord in the mouth of the Lord, just to kind of a safety boundaries, you know. I don’t mind patriotic stuff. I feel like I’m a little on the patriotic side. I don’t mind a few songs about our country and so forth, but I don’t like anything taking the place of the Lord who made the country.

What L’choué says, in the last part of verse 16, singing with grace in your hearts to who? To the Lord. Whatever it is, can you sing it to the Lord? This is what God means to me. A lot of the hymns are not lacking because there’s more theology in them, and most of them are pretty good theology. They get a lot of new songs out the day. You don’t know if they’re singing to our God or to Allah. Any God alone, and we call it the 7-11.

They just mentioned seven words and say it same 11 times. And you don’t have a clue what in the world you’re learning. I like a song that has a message. See, if I can’t preach that message, you shouldn’t sing that message. If there’s not a message there to preach, then there ought not be a song that you can sing. Because the song ought to have a message to it. But God says, singing and making, melody in your hearts unto the Lord.

In verse 17, and whatsoever you do in word or deed, while you’re down here on the earth. While you’re on the earth, living in a body, whatsoever you do, do it. Look at the last part of the verse. Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. You do it because you’re thinking about heaven. You’re doing it for the Lord. And if you do it for him, then you want to make sure it’s what he would accept.

You want to make sure it would please him. So whatever you say, whatever you do, whatever you think, would it please him. Therein lies the key. If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above. Set your affections on things that are above. those things down here come and go. And you’re gonna be one miserable individual if you don’t get what you want and things don’t happen the way you want it to happen. But you know that God sees and God is gonna keep the books and he’s gonna reward you when you get there for everything you suffered while you were down here.

Don’t worry about it. That’s the only way to enjoy the life. Otherwise you’ll never enjoy life. You’ll never be happy, not truly happy. Look up here. This hand represents you and me. This wallet represents sin. We all have sin on the… Now God said He loves us and I hate our sin. And for us to pay for sin, turnal separation from God. Well since everybody’s a sinner, everybody does things wrong. So we’re all condemned, and the payment is a separation from the Lord.

In hell, forever. So what are we going to do? Well, we can desire to go to heaven, but how do we get there? God says heaven is a perfect place. God’s perfect, but because of sin, we can’t get in. God says you cannot earn eternal life. You cannot work your way to heaven by your good deeds. There’s nothing that you can do to save yourself. You’ll never be good enough. This ends in Jesus Christ. Christ, he is the Lord God in the flesh.

He came into the world because he loves us, hates our sin because it separates us from him. So Jesus tries to do not have to die because he had no sin. Never did anything wrong. He came into the world and took all the sins of the whole world and paid for them on the cross and came back from the dead. And only those in the world, he says, who so ever, God so loved the world, whosoever of those people in the world, he says, if you believe he did it for you.

You were not perish. You would get to go to heaven. So the world isn’t saved, but he that believed it. You’re the one that decides, well, you believe that he did it for you. And if you’ll believe he did it for you, he would put this payment to your account. You get to go to heaven on what he did for you. For God, God. So love the world, you and me, that he gave his only begotten son Jesus Christ.

Now whosoever believe it, all you had to just believe it. Believe that he took your sins and paid for them. And he says, you will not perish but have everlasting life. You go to heaven on what Christ did for you. There’s no tricks to that. There’s no gimmicks. That’s the best news in all the world. And I pray that you’ll trust Christ as your Savior. Let’s pray, shall we? The headbound eyes closed and no one looking around. If you hear this morning, you understand this, God loves you and we’ve done things wrong and we ought to pay for it.

But God loves you so much that He sent His Son to pay for them. Instead, if you’ll believe He did it for you, that He would give to you as a free gift of everlasting life. Would you trust Him? Would you believe it? If you’ve never Your trusty Christ is your savior. Now’s a good time to do so. We have no guarantee on life. Why not right now trust the Lord as your only hope of going to heaven? Just in your own mind, just say something like this between you and the Lord.

Lord, I don’t understand at all. But I believe Christ died for me, and I’m gonna trust Him to take me to heaven when I die. And friend, if you’re making that decision, I’d like to know it. I’d like to have prayer for you. I’m not gonna have you forward. not gonna embarrass you. I’m not gonna have you stand up, but I’m gonna ask you with your head about nine clothes, if you just slip your hand out very quickly and better write back down.

And by that, you just simply mean, I will trust Christ as my savior, and I’d like for you to pray for me. Would you just slip your hand out very quickly, anyone know, just God bless you sir. Smartest decision you’ll ever make. There’s no tricks to it, no guineps. Anyone else before we close? So that made sense to me. I also want to know that I’m going to heaven when I die and I will trust Christ as my Savior.

Anyone else? Our Father, we thank you so much for all that you’ve done for us. Thank you for your word you’ve given us. And Father, we thank you for the individual who we indicated by an uplift at hand by trusting you as a Savior. We know that you’ve given us a free gift everlasting life. That you’ll never cast him out, never lose him. He can know that when he leaves the day, I’m going to heaven because the day I trust the Christ as my Savior, He died and paid for my sins.
