We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ and that today’s concluding message of this teaching will be a blessing to you and your family. One day, God’s going to take this vile body, and He’s going to change it. But look what He says. Who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body. He means a perfect body, a body that can withstand the glory of God. We have in the book of Colossians in chapter one, it talks about a gospel that is a glorious gospel.
Intimidly we have glorious gospel. It means it’s a perfect message to make a perfect man in Christ. When you trust Christ as your Savior, since you have to be perfect to go to heaven, you got to have a message that will be, well, it’ll do the job. It’ll make you perfect to go to heaven. So one day we are going to get this glorified body. That is talking about our glorification. the day when we get our new body and everything about us will be perfect.
I will not see any fault in you. You will not see any fault in me. And the Lord will not see any fault in us. That is going to be heaven. That’s when we get there. Everything’s perfect there, but we’re not there yet. So that is going to take place at a point in time. So we know that when we were saved from hell, that was from the penalty of sin. That was at a point in time. And the day will come when we will be absent from the body and present with the Lord.
Or if the Lord comes and we’re still alive, we will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. And we’re going to have a glorified body. So that is a point in time, a moment that that will take place. Now, it was possible. It is possible. that God could have had those back to back. I could have trusted Christ as my Savior, and the day, the moment I trusted Christ as my Savior, He could have took me on out of here.
That would have been ideal in my mind. But He didn’t do it that way. He presses this timeline out through here. This is settled. This is going to be at a point in time. Now how much time will I have in here? I don’t know. It’s almost like when Christ came and died on the cross and then the Holy Spirit came on the Epentecost and then we know that there’s this period of time in here called the church age, the grace age, the body age, but it’s the time in which we live.
The rapture takes place and then the tribulation appeared upon the earth. Now, when God takes this out of here, it’s like this could just move right on over here and it should flow right in together. But God is allowed a wedge to come here and push this out and we don’t know how much time is between the one and the other. So we know that the church age in which we live is between this point in time, this point in time, but we’re living in the present time.
We don’t know how much time we have. So we transfer that to our personal lives. I was saved at a point in time. There is a point in time when I’m going to leave this world. I am going to die one day or the ratchet is going to take place. One of those two things is going to happen. But whenever it is, it’s when I leave here. So I have already been justified. I am going to be glorified. But that hasn’t happened yet.
Now I’m right here in this present time. And I don’t know how much time God has given me to live. So this is where we come to, if you look there in your notes, into the present. You look up here to the top. This is where, yes, I have been saved from the penalty of sin. I will be delivered from the very presence of sin one day. But until then, I know that the study of the Word of God and the purpose of the Holy Spirit in my life.
to lead and guide me. If it is the Holy Spirit living within you, the Holy Spirit can only lead you into a holy life. It never leads you into an unholy life or an ungodly life. If it happens in your life and that’s where you go, the Lord didn’t lead you there. It was not him. You have been deceived. So the Holy Spirit lives within us for the purpose of delivering us from the power of sin. Now look at the little fellow that’s standing there and you’ll notice that there’s a H.S.
Holy Spirit living within you. You’ll also see the O.S. in. That’s your old sinful nature. Alright, let me just see this so that I know that you’re understanding me. How many of you know that you have an old sinful nature? Let me see your hand. Man, that’s everybody in here. I thought at least one of you didn’t have one. Some of you got two probably. No, but everybody has an old sinful nature and it lives within the body. Your body is still corrupt.
God has not yet saved the body. That’s why it’s got the evidences of sin in it. It’s aging and it’s deteriorating. It’s falling apart. You’re getting more aches and pains. And you don’t look as young as you used to. Just think today you look younger than you’re going to ever look for the rest of your life. And if you think you look bad now, wait another 10 years. It ain’t going to get better. We may wish and think and dream, not unless the Lord comes back.
So from here on out, got bad news for you. It’s downhill. It’s down. I’m sorry about that Peter, but it’s just just downhill. But now notice the Holy Spirit living within you wants you to learn the word of God so that it can deliver you from the power of the old sinful nature that lives in your body. But lo and behold, that’s where you live. And lo and behold, that’s where the Holy Spirit lives. So you’re not alone. So you have this battle that goes on that we’ve discussed many, many times.
Now, I want you to take your Bible in looking at the book of Romans in chapter 8. The book of Romans and chapter 8. In Romans chapter 8, we have the Holy Spirit living within us. He is our teacher, he is our leader, he is our guide. And he says in verse 14, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, God, they are the sons of God. So the Holy Spirit only leads His children. Another way of looking at this is when you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you, these are the maturing sons of God.
So if you want to be maturing in the Lord, you must be allowing the Lord to lead you. This means you have arrived. You see, nobody has yet arrived. Everybody is in the process of growing. And we want to grow closer to the Lord, stronger in the Lord, wiser in the Lord, but you’re still growing. And if you’re growing every day of your life, and as he says in the book of Corinthians in chapter four of 2 Corinthians, that even though our outward man by parish, yet the inward man is strengthened day by day.
So inwardly you can become stronger and stronger and stronger. But the outward man, this old physical body, gets slower and slower and slower and worse and worse. And one of these days, you’re gonna have to move out. That’s not gonna be so bad. But here he makes the statement. In verse 16, the spirit himself or itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. So the spirit of God bears witness with our spirit and you must worship God in spirit and in truth through your spirit.
Now with the body, that’s where we live, and the body is your connection to the world. That’s why you can see the world. Oh, except these two over here, they can’t see it. But they can feel the world and they can hear the world and they can touch the world so they know that there is a world. And so it makes the world conscious. And it makes a statement here in verse 17, we are joined heirs with God. Now looking verse 18, he says, for I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the, and there’s that word you ought to underline in.
Glory that shall be revealed in us. You see, the best that you have ever seen in this world is not worthy to be compared with the glory we’re going to have. But then he says on top of that, the sufferings of this world, not the best, the worst in this world can’t compare to what God has for us. We haven’t even begun to understand how wonderful it’s going to be when we get to heaven to be with the Lord.
But until then, the Bible says, not only are the children in the world and God’s children that are here suffering in the bodies. but also all of creation, groaneth and travail until now. So God says he’s gonna work a work. But look what he says down there in verse 21, because the creature or the creation itself also shall be delivered, shall be delivered. So as long as you are an, and I are in the body, we are waiting for the day when we will be delivered from this body and you won’t have to worry about the sinful nature you won’t have to worry about paying taxes anymore you won’t have to worry about where your meal is going to come from you don’t have to worry about Obama can’t they can tell you you won’t have any worries at all anymore you are going to be delivered but
I can tell you this our government is not going to produce a utopia upon this earth the Lord is going to bring the utopia. So we’re going to wait until he does it because he’s going to do it and he’s going to do it right. So he says here in verse 21, because the creation itself shall be delivered, get it from the bondage of corruption. You and I live in a body that is corrupt. It’s a vile body. And he’s going to change these vile corruptible bodies.
And that which is corruptible must put on corruption. But notice what else he says. He said, in two, and you ought to underline this, into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Some days, we’re going to have such freedom from the law of sin and death because even though we’ve been delivered judicially, we still suffer consequences. If you let the old sinful nature get the best of your life, do you know that God’s law still is in effect.
It’s still wrong to commit adultery. It’s still wrong to commit murder. It’s still wrong to lie. It’s still wrong. God didn’t change that. When Christ came, He did not come to destroy the law. He came to fulfill the law. He didn’t do away with the law. But Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to those who believe. But God’s law still in effect to those who walk in the flesh. It still condemns sin in the flesh. That’s why God’s children are not supposed to walk and the flesh are after the flesh to put the walk in the spirit.
But get what he says. In verse 22, 4, we know that the whole creation growneth and travailas in pain together until now. That’s the time in which we’re now living. This is the present. And so even creation itself, God says, is groaning, waiting for that day, that moment when the children of God will be glorified. Because when God does this work with us, God’s going to do a work with the world. And he’s going to have a thousand years where he’s going to have it like the garden of Eden.
And then after that he’s going to burn the whole thing up by fire and have a new heavens and a new earth. I believe it’s going to be something like we have never seen before. Won’t even come close to what we have now. When he says there’ll be no more sea. I don’t know if that was just because, you know, John on the Alipab and Scott tired of seeing the water and God did all that just for John. I don’t know.
But what it is, I wouldn’t mind in the new heaven, just a little mud, just a squished mud between my toes. Have you ever done it when you was a kid? Just walk in the mud and squished mud between your toes. It’s a wonderful feeling. How many of you have never done that? You’ve never done that. How many have done that? Oh, look at John. I’m stuck.
Alright, I bet if you was to take off your shoes, I bet some of you still got some mud between your toes. We ain’t going there. We ain’t going there. I hope not. I hope not. But now look what he says here in verse 23, And not only they, but our cells also which have the first fruits of the Spirit, Even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption to it, the redemption of our body. body. So the day of glorification is coming.
And until that day, until that moment, you and I are living in the presence and the purpose of the Holy Spirit living within us. And we don’t know how much time God’s going to give to us. But whatever it is, God has not left us alone. He has given to us the Holy Spirit and has given us a reason to live. You know, the one thing that would really be disheartening if God had allowed me to live. He took a vacation, left me here all alone, said I’ll see you in about 30 years.
Do whatever you want. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what in the world I would have done with my life if it had not been because of being gospel-driven. The message in this book has given me reasons to live. I purpose for living. And even though I’m 71 now. I still got a reason to live. It ain’t over yet. I want to do more now than I’ve ever done in my life. And I feel like, God, don’t cut me down now.
I just a little more time. And the elders are saying the same thing, Lord, give them a little bit more time. So anyway, life is exciting and it should be exciting. And God wants to bless us and get some things done in our life. Now, the Bible tells us that in this period of time to deliver us from the things that are in this world that can hurt us. Remember when we have things the Bible says the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life.
Have you ever read a verse in the Bible that says something about it? If a man could gain the whole world and lose his own soul, you know, how much is a man’s soul worth? came the whole world. He’s lost his own soul. In other words, your life, you are more valuable than the whole world. But no, that goes even more so than just saying that about the world out there. For example, when you talk about the lust of the flesh, you consider all the things that you physically desire.
What if everything you desired you got? Any matter whatever you want, God let you have it. I want that Cadillac. Got it. One million dollars. Got it. I want a chocolate cake. Got it. A lot more chocolate cakes. Got them. Whatever you desired, you could get. Now you take all of the desires that you could have and if you lived to be a hundred years old, all of those desires, you have only gotten one third of the world. The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.
The love of the world. This is the world. And we’re not even talking about the material world yet, but one-third of it isn’t even worth the value of a soul. But what about what you want to be? No, the pride of life. What I want to be. You know, I want to be president. I wish that was. Or I want to be the greatest golfer in the world. You know, the greatest home-run king in the world. name, whatever you wanted to be.
Got it. Whatever you want to be, you got it. You want to be the greatest singer in the world. You got it. Anything you wanted, you got it. And you take everything you’ve ever wanted for a hundred years, take all of those desires, put them all together. And all of it is not worth the value of a soul. And if you did all of that, you still I’ve only got two thirds of their life. And you talk about the lust of the eyes.
What if you could have anything you saw? Look at all them stars. I want them all. God says, you got them. All the comets, all the planets, you got them. They gave you everything. Well, I want that mountain, I want all the cattle, I want all the trees, I want the whole world. And if God gave it all to all of that all put together, it’s not worth the value of a soul. You are so valuable, but you are not let anybody ever put you down as though you don’t have much value.
Your value is not in your talent. It’s not in your wisdom. It’s not in your ability. It’s because you were created in the image of God. Your soul, you are worth more than all the world. And all the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh and the pride of life, all of it all put together, you are worth more. So when you understand how valuable you are, why would you want to cheapen your life by spending it on cheap things?
This time God’s given us to live as such a valuable piece of time. And how you spend time is how you spend your life. So how do we spend our time for the things of the Lord or for the things of the world? And some people think it’s all wrapped up in money and houses and lands and cars and this and that and the other. Use things, but don’t let it use you. Don’t let it own you. Don’t let it capture you.
And you’d be surprised what God can do for you. Now you have an oath to infinate and now you know that. And salvation, that’s done and taken care of. That’s a point in times over. And what’s coming in the future is out of your hands. When you die, it’s up to God. How you die? That’s up to God. And if it comes in the rapture and you live, that’s up to God. But what is up to you and I is this little period of time that God’s given us to live.
And in the process of time, time has been process. And God breaks it down into hours and days and weeks and months and years. And you see, it’s easy to dedicate to the Lord this time that I do not yet have and very difficult to give to the Lord the day that I do have. But if I would give God this day, and that’s why every day is important, you say, I don’t have tomorrow, yesterday’s gone. That’s a cancel check.
That’s a promise there ain’t no. I have this right now. This is cash on hand. Therefore as a child of God, if I give God this day and then when tomorrow comes, I give God that day and then when the next day comes, I give God that day, then I’ll be able to obey. He said, no, I gave my life to the Lord. But a lot of people give the life to the Lord this way and they don’t give him this day.
This is the moment. You see, you cannot pre-determine in advance really how much you’re going to be dedicated to the future. You have today, and yes, we try to get kids to dedicate their life to the Lord, but we tell them, it starts now, today. Do what you’re supposed to today start today. And if you’ll do, just like we tell lost people, behold, now is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation because you’ve got no guarantee of tomorrow and therefore we should serve the Lord with all our heart.
So you’d see this is where you get the word, sanctification. Sanctification comes from the Greek word hagi yaso meaning to be made pure and holy and set apart. Yes, when you were saved, you were declared a saint, you were set apart, you belong to the Lord made pure and holy. Now in your life God wants you to had the process of sanctification. It means that as you grow in the Lord you are becoming more and more sanctified. More and more areas of your life are given to the Lord.
Less and less of your life is given to the world. Growing in the Lord and maturing in the Lord is having less of love for the world and more of of the love for the Lord. And if you’ll grow in your love toward the Lord, these other things will drop away. Because if you feel your life doing the thing God wants you to do, you won’t have time to do the things you shouldn’t do. Some people are trying to figure out how to get the air out of the glass.
Don’t worry about getting the air out of the glass. Put water in it, problem solved. And don’t worry about trying to get sin out of your life. Just start serving the Lord and you won’t have time. That’s why you should be busy doing the things that God tells you because if I do all the things God tells me to do, I ain’t got time to get in trouble. I’d have to schedule it. I live so much by schedule. And so therefore, understand, when you were saved, you were justified.
One day you’re going to be glorified. But until then, God wants you to be sanctified in your life. I hope this makes a lot of good sense to you and you’re following all of this. I know you are. Look up here. This hand represents you and me, the wallet represents sin. We all have sin on us. Now God, He loves us. Now He hates what we do wrong, but He loves us. And He says, for us to pay for the sin is eternal separation from God and health.
This is why because we sinned, we’re condemned because of God’s law. We broke it, we sinned, we’re guilty, and we ought to pay. Therefore, we are in debt and we cannot deliver ourselves. So Jesus Christ, his Henry, and Jesus Christ, he came into the world because he loves us, hates our sin because it separates us from him. Jesus Christ took all the sin of all the world, paid for it on the cross and came back from the dead. And God said that if we would believe he did this for us, he puts this payment to our account.
You see, we had a sin debt. And therefore, he made a decision. payment for my sins. And if I accept this payment, mine are paid. The law is satisfied. I’m justified as though I never committed a sin. You see, I did but I was cleared in a court of law and God judicially declared me righteous. Now that sounds pretty good to me. Now one day when Christ comes back again, He’s going take all of his children out of this world and give them a brand new body.
We’ll have no more aches and pains. It’ll be a glorified body. It won’t have an old sinful nature. See, your old sinful nature is not in your soul. It’s in your body. It’s in the members, in your flesh. And when this body dies, it’s gone. And you’re going to have an old sinful nature until that day. But that day may be when Christ comes back and we’re changed in a moment, the twinkling night, wouldn’t that be a better way to travel?
In between these two things, here we are. Do you want to serve a Lord? If you will, God will give you all the strength and the grace that you need. But if you don’t, you’re going to find your old sinful nature. It’s going to destroy you. He’ll lie to you and deceive you and ruin your life, ruin your testimony and just shambles in your life. It makes sense to put God first. Let’s pray, shall we? Hit bow nice clothes, no one looking around.
And if you’re watching by internet, please understand we do not have Iowa walking here. You do not have to walk an aisle. You don’t have to walk in front of your couch. You don’t have to walk into the kitchen. You don’t have to sign a card. You don’t have to do anything. And you don’t even have to raise your hand. We ask those that are here because I like to know and I like to see and I like to have prayer for them.
So we headbound on each close and know one looking around. If you’ve never trusted Christ as your savior, would you just talk to the Lord and say, Lord, I know I’m a sinner and I believe Christ died paid for my sins and I’m going to trust Him and Him alone. That’s my only hope of going to heaven. If you’ve never done it, do it now. If you’ve already done it, you don’t have to do it again. He said, that makes sense to me, and I will trust Christ right now as my Savior and preach a life to pray for me.
We just flip it up real quickly and put it up down. There’s anyone at all. You know what it’s all. If you’ve trusted Christ as your Savior, remember now, you’re now in the process of sanctification. God wants you to sanctify God wholly in your life. He wants you to put him first to live the way you should. He wants to deliver you from the power of the old sinful nature. Because if you don’t let him, your old sinful nature will dominate your life.
Oh yeah, you’re still saved, you’re still going to heaven, but you’re not gonna enjoy the life. You’re not gonna get the rewards when you get to heaven. And live every day, every day. Believing that the Lord could come back at any time, any moment, and we are not to fear death. We’re to welcome it. And one of these days we’re gonna be checking out of here. Our Father, we thank You so much for all You’ve done for us. We’re thankful of this time together, the study of Your Word.
