God does not want his children to fall. And so resting in the Lord is trusting God’s way. It’s trusting him to work, trusting the Holy Spirit that lives within us. Also a little statement that I had given, I think it was Sunday morning, that the Holy Spirit that lives within us is to lead and guide and direct. Often you hear people pray that. But without studying the Word of God, Holy Spirit can’t lead guide and direct. It sounds spiritual, it sounds great, but without the word, the Holy Spirit doesn’t work.

See, the Bible says the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. In other words, what is it that the Holy Spirit uses to give us this power? It’s the Word. So as you read the Word of God, the Holy Spirit takes the Word that becomes the tool, the sword by which he’s going to use quick in your mind to help bring things to your mind at which you have studied. But if you don’t put the Word of God into your mind, there’s nothing for him to work with.

That’s why a lot of people, they trust Christ as Savior and try to serve the Lord with the mind of the old man. So that’s all they have. So they try to do what they can with a mind that is corrupted. Well the mind that is carnal. So God says in order to transform your life. And then we have to renew our mind. So that’s why it says be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

And you do that by the Word of God. That you may prove or discover what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. So you learn the word so that you can transform your life. Your life was not transformed because you trusted Christ. You received eternal life. You became this child. You’re going to heaven today. That didn’t transform your life. You’re still the same person, do the same thing until you begin to study the Word of God and the Holy Spirit that lives within you applies the Word of God and teaches you the Word of God and you walk in obedience to the Word of God.

So walking in the Spirit is simply walking in obedience to what the Word of God says. So if you don’t study the Word of God, you have very little on which to grow. All you’ll know and learn is what you see what somebody else does and you mimic them. And this is why we call some people their joy mooches. It means they don’t have any joy of their own. They just try to get up close enough to somebody else and moots their joy off of somebody else.

See, they don’t have anything to go on. They’re just, they’re moochers. You ever seen somebody’s always bumming a cigarette off somebody? They don’t have any cigarettes on their own. They don’t have any money on their own. They can’t buy their own, so they just go around bumming cigarettes. They’re always looking on the ground to find somebody’s that they’ve thrown away and, huh, there’s a butt down there and they fight somebody to get it. Get two more puzzles. Then they look at another.

That’s the way Christians are. Because see, they don’t have any real joy. They don’t have real peace. They think if they just hang around somebody else, theirs will become real. But what happens when you don’t have anybody else around you? There’s nobody else. It’s just you. A song that the treble layers, you might remember the treble layers, they used to sing years ago and they sung this song, just me and my Lord walking together. Me and my Lord walking along.

I used to listen to that song, turn it up as high as I can. I could. I think that’s why I’m deaf today. Because I’d lay in front of that thing and I’d turn it up sky high and I mean the walls would move and the rafters were going. But I was listened to that. Back then they didn’t have earphones and so it just blared. But I would just, I’d sit there and I’d cry and I’d listen to these songs by the triple errors.

Just me and my Lord walking together. Just me and my Lord walking alone. And I would listen to that and play them over and over and over again. And then I’d go to Job and I’d start working on the old, you know, the bread wrapping machine or that folding machine. And you know, because they got to where they make a rhythm. When they make a rhythm, I kind of get in a rhythm. When they get into rhythm, I start a humming.

When I start a humming,>>>>>>>> I start a singing780. When I start a singing, I\”: I429. And so there’s about 15, 20 people in this big old room and they’re working on different things. But this thing makes a lot of racket. And it’s just a making so much racket. I can really feel free to sing and nobody can hear me. And then a piece of paper will, jamming that thing and it stops and I’m singing to the top of my lungs.

everybody turned around and looks at me because I defe in my own little world. Sing to the top of my I’m not with my lungs. So now you know how I developed my singing voice. And some people said, I should have tried to smore. But anyway, as you read down through here, looking verse 13, where he says, where for taken to you, most of the armor of God. What does it say? Take all of it. Evidently you must need all of it.

If there’s any piece of it that you don’t take, it could cost you because there might be a fiery dart that’s gonna strike you. And you’re gonna have this thought. God doesn’t love me. I’m not being used. Poor, poor me, and you have your pity parties and you’re not gonna be strong in the Gawker and it’s all because you didn’t put on all the armor of God like this should have. So you see there in verse 17, and take the helmet of salvation or the deliverance from the evil darts of the wicked one and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.

So you know the word, you read the word, you study, you believe it, and it will make, definitely make a difference. Now, look here in the Mark chapter four, the book of Mark and chapter four, just turn back to your left there. the book of Mark and chapter 4. Mark chapter 4 is kind of letting you know that you need to watch the way that you hear, but over and over again, it says, he that had ears to hear, let him hear.

Now, this is not talking to the church. Later on when he talks about in the book of Revelation, chapter two and three, and every one of them, he that hath ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches. So when you study the Word of God, you’re listening to what the Spirit has to teach you. You see, it was wonderful when Christ was here with the disciples. They could literally sit there and listen to the greatest teacher of all time.

There’s never been anybody who could take better than more. But he says, I’m gonna leave, but I’m going to send you the Holy Spirit and He shall teach you. He’s going to teach you. So the greatest teacher in the world didn’t just leave. He sent somebody else. He says, He’s just like me. And He lives within us. So the Holy Spirit that knows theisdom wants to teach us the Word. And so He municipally makes this statement here in verse 24.

And He said unto them,. Take heed. Watch you hear. Take heed. mast you hear. Listen carefully to what the Word of GodCompare says. Listen carefully becauseHelper you see a lot of people say a lot of things. We covered it Sunday morning in the book of 1 for John in chapter 4 where it says, try the spirits. Try the spirits means listen to what they’re saying. Is what the evil spirit, so the teachings of the evil one is he teaching according to the Word of.”..

Listen to what’s been said and you cannot discern error if you do not know truth so you study the truth so you can discern. And you can tell that that teaching is false. And as he says in the book of Ephesians in chapter 4, that you be not tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine that comes along. Various teachings. And there’s a lot of people teaching a lot of things, but you should know what you believe. So the Bible says in Timothy about sound words that produce sound doctrine that produces sound minds.

So if you want to sound mine, you have to have sound doctrine that comes from sound words, so be careful what you hear. So he says here in verse 24, he said to them, take heed what you hear, with what measure you meet it shall be measured to you, and unto you that here shall more be given. If you listen and let the Holy Spirit teach you something, and you listen to what he had to say, And you learned from what he had to say.

And you applied what he gave you. Heirlf. He said, I’ll teach you some more. Do you know there’s some of God’s people that never grow spiritually? They never mature in the Lord. associative the way they were 20, 30, 40 years ago. They’re not learning and growing in the Lord. So he says, you need to be careful. And when he makes this statement here, what measure you meet, it shall be measured to you again looph. In other words, under you according to your faith, what God is saying is obey what you hear.

Do you hear? A parent tell, little Johnny, did you hear me? Why would she say something like that? Because she probably told little Johnny to do something and little Johnny acted like he didn’t hear. You ever had a kid do like that? our grandkids do like that. Did you hear me? That means if you heard me, you better do what I said do. It’s like the Holy Spirit says to you, did you hear what I said? Did you listen to me?

So we have in the Word of God warnings and he says, take heed how you listen. Do you listen to the Word of God with the intent of obeying what you’ve heard. But some people just wanna say, you know, I went to church today and I sung and I listened to the preacher and to think that’s all God wanted you to do. Yeah, but did you really listen? What did you hear? What did you learn? What did you obey?

Sometimes we say, you know, if we had 150 people somebody said, how many decisions did you have? They didn’t have two or three people raised their hand to trust the Lord. We said, we had three to trust this Christ to save you today. But when we get right down to it, if you had a hundred and fifty people, I believe I had a hundred and fifty decisions. They weren’t all in favor of what I said, but they all made a decision.

Some decided to obey the Word and some decided not to obey the Word. to obey is still a decision. Wouldn’t you agree? So does hearing the word of God change your life? If it’s not changing your life, you’re not listening. And what you do know, God says He’ll take away from you. If you don’t use it, you will lose it. And as time goes on, you won’t learn more and more about the Lord, you’re going to forget more and more about the Lord.”

So he says here, and under you that here shall more be given. And in verse 25, for he that hath ears to hear, to him shall be given. And he that hath not have not ears to hear, from him shall be taken even that which he had. So see some people are really losing out. Have you ever heard people say I don’t need to go to church? In other words I have reached my quota. I done paid my dues.

I mean there’s nothing more for me to learn. I know it all. Yeah boy? I have been studying constantly for 53 years and And I am not about to tell you I have arrived. There’s so much I don’t know. So much scripture that I haven’t yet figured out. So many pieces of the prophetic puzzle that I can’t even put together. And I feel like I’m running out of time. I feel like right now I’m in the prime of my life.

You say seven is not prime. When you get 69, you’ll change your mind. And you’ll also find out 70 is not old. Is it K? It ain’t old. So, I mean, there’s a lot of old folks out there. Those are the ones that are older than us. So, I have to keep right ahead of my sister. K just keep pushing me up by a hill. But we’re getting older. But I also know that there’s a good possibility that I do not have many years left if God should carry.

But I want to do all that I can. while I can. Now take your Bible and look in the book of Luke chapter 6, the book of Luke and chapter 6. Chapter 6 and look there in verse 38. Now understand we talk about taking upon us his yoke and taking upon us his sword, his armor and taking the word of God. But if you only take all the time, something’s going to be missing out of your life. You want to learn how to give.

But look what he says here in verse 38. I believe there’s more to it than just talking about, you know, like a money thing. But it’s everything in your life. When he makes his statement, give, and it shall be given unto you. But have you seen God bless you? things for you. You see, everybody needs some past successful experiences. There needs to be some battles that you have won over your life. Can you look back? Have you won any of them?

Or have you lost all of them? Did you have at least a few that you can say, I won this battle and this battle because I trust the Lord and God got me through this and learn that for today. I can trust the Lord for the day because I trusted him before and he kept his word and he’s brought me through. Oh I’ve been beat up scarred, knifed, but remember you must serve the Lord as though you have never been hurt.

If you allow your hurt to stay with you it makes you bitter and if it makes you bitter, it makes you miserable. And the root of bitterness will spring up and you’ll defile many others. So you want to kind of keep things on a short tab with the Lord. If there’s things that happens and you knew know that you had a bad attitude about something, sit something, bought something, keep a short account running with God. Go see him often.

Get it taken care of. But here in the book of Luke in chapter 6, verse 38, He says, give and it shall be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together. In other words, if you want to get something a great big old bushel and you say you want some butter beans in there. Okay, they put the butter beans in it and say, okay, it’s full. Wait, just a minute. Start shaking that thing. Now why am I doing that?

I want it to settle. Oh, it’s going down. It’s not full yet. Get some more. They put some more on them. Okay, shake it some more. I think you can put a little bit more on here and you put some more on here. And then press down. Oh, look at that, it’s still not full. Get some more and put it on here. This is what he’s saying. Press down, shaken together, and running, running over. This is what God said.

you give and you cannot out give God. You cannot out give God. You say, well, I’m, you’re scared to try it, don’t you? But you cannot give God. Learn to give. There’s a little thing that we have learned a long time ago, and it is, if you give sparingly, you shall reap sparingly. If you give bountifully, you shall reap bountifully. And you should sow cheerfully. But see, a lot of people are scared to death. They can’t trust God that far.

They don’t trust God with their life. They don’t trust God with their finances. They become stingy and hoored instead of learning to be a blessing. And the reason is because the truth of the matter is most people are scared that God won’t come through in God’s You and let them down. And they don’t want to hurt, they don’t want to suffer. How much do you trust gone? Do you think this is important? And that’s why he says once again, for with the same measure that you meet with all it shall be measured to you again.

In other words, if you give sparingly, that’s how you’re going to reap. You’re going to reap what you sow. So that’s why it’s so important. I look while we’re right here in the book of Luke, Luke in chapter eight. Chapter eight and look in verse 18. There’s just another little portion here that’s talking about not only what you hear, but listen as to how you hear. See there in verse 18, take heed therefore how ye hear, for whosoever hath to him shall be given, and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he seemeth to have.

That’s why there’s some Christians that seem like they are always encouraging. They’re cheerful and thrifty. They do like they’re supposed to do and then you have some Christians. They’re always moody. There’s some moody Christians. They’re up here and then they’re just as far below the line. See this is normal. When a person reacts over reacts they also go far into depression, same height, same way. Instead of learning, cast all your tears upon him for a care for you. You don’t have to get overexcited and you don’t have to fall apart when things don’t go your way.

And so you stay the same. You see, when you’re like a yo-yo, you ever seen Christian like a yo-yo? Have you ever seen Christian that you have to be, well, you can’t say this around them because they will exclude. And so you have to tip toe around certain people because if you do a certain thing a certain way you know what’s going to happen. Do you think that’s how God wants us to be? Or regardless of what people say or do, you stay the same.

You’re not run by moods, you’re not governed by moods. A person is governed by the moods, it will not be used because you’re unstable. And the Bible says, let not that man think. He shall receive anything because he is like the waves of the sea, tossed to an crow up and down like the yodio, back and forth. And you can’t ever tell where they’re going to come down. You have to learn how to discipline the mind and you do that by the Word of God.

staying in the Word and trusting the Holy Spirit to do what He says done. So we have talked about the decision that we need to make, the doing of it, and then when life is all over, He says done. We’re now in the doing process. And one day God’s going to say, done. Times up. Come on up. And you want to be able to hear the Lord say those famous little words we always hear. Well done. I said, done.

I didn’t even start. And you ran out of time. Well I was going to start tomorrow. Have you ever seen people who are always going to do, going to, intending to? And we often say the road to hell is paid with good intentions. But with the Christian, it’s also paid for good intentions. They’re always going to get around to it. They just never get around to it. I want to burn out while I can. The last thing I’m going to do is rush that.

I want to burn out. When I get through with this body, I don’t want there to be nothing left. Nothing left to give. Just run it until it don’t go anymore. That’s what I’m going to do with my car setting outside. I’ve always had to send it to the old folks home. I had a Volkswagen one time and it was a had a throw up top Nate pewkey colors And it when it died I sent it to the old votes home some of y’all get it after a while But sometimes you know you just want to you want to use everything that you have for the Lord And you don’t want there to be nothing left Lord.

I left in I still had a lot that could have done So I hope the Lord. Oh, he’s listening I’ll wear a stand-alone time. I told the Lord the other day, I said, Lord, I don’t want to live forever. I just want to live long enough to bury everybody else, and then I’ll be ready to go. So somebody’s got to bury everybody. Alright, look up here. I have trouble getting this new wallet out of my pocket. And I wasn’t gonna get this one, but since I’ve come to know y’all so much better, I had to get a bit of good wallet to represent sin.

Scratch that and what I didn’t mean to say that. Look up here. This is you and me. This is sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us. Now he hates our sin, but he loves us. And the Bible says for us to pay for sin is eternal separation from God. And so God. God says to go to heaven, you have to be perfect. No sin. As righteous as God, we got to be perfect like He is. And God says, because of sin, we can’t get in.

And we have a debt pavement. The wages of sin is death. We’re in debt. And we got to pay for it. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord, God in the flesh. He came into this world because He loves us, hates our sin, because our sins separate from Him. So Jesus Christ took all the sin of all the world and paid for it, came back from the dead and says that, whosoever believe it, if you’ll believe that He paid for my Son, remember He came to die for me, to pay for my sins, why?

So that I won’t have to pay for them. And these people sit on get this. So I have a payment for all of my sins, so I don’t have any He sends the pay for. They’re all paid. I go to heaven on what He did for me. He did that for me because He loved me. I had a little statement that I had wrote down and I thought it was a good statement. And it goes like this, Jesus Christ would rather die than live without me.

Think about it. He would rather die than live without me. Do you understand what I’m saying? I love that statement. Then he walked over there on my desk and she looked down there and she saw that. She scratched out and wrote me. I said, honey, you wrote on my note here. She says, it ought to be me. He would rather die than live without me. Guess what?

He’s not gonna live without me. Because he died for man. Came back from the dead and I believe he did it and I’m going to heaven. And we’re going to be together for all eternity. And the good news, let’s pray show you. With hedge by nice clothes and if you’re watching by internet, I know I can’t see you. I sure wish I could. But the most important thing in all the world is for you to understand that God loves you, that he made a payment for your sins.

And if you will accept him as your Savior, God would say, just give you eternal life and you get to go to heaven on what he did for you. And if you have trust that Christ is your Savior, your God’s child for all eternity. And it is the will of God that you learn to walk with Him and talk to Him. Yes, God wants you to obey Him and serve Him, but not to get to heaven. Going to heaven is free, that’s a gift.

But because He loves you, it’s a reasonable thing. If you really think about it, that He wants to use you for His honor and glory. There’s so much He wants to do for you and through you. Father, we thank you so much for this time together. Bless each one. Christ name we pray. Amen.
