Look at the next verse, looking John 3.36, John 3.36. Do you have anything in that verse on the line? In that verse something you could underline in that verse. He that believe it. He that believe it. Half everlasting life. See if you do this you get this. See a person should know what they’re doing. What am I do, what am I trusting Christ for? If I trust him for this do I get this? When do I know I have this?

Half means president means if you believe it now, if you do this now you have it now. You’ve got to get people to see and understand this. It’s so easy just to ask the person, do you believe on Christ? Oh yeah, I believe on Christ. Okay, that one saved. Not so fast, Charlie. Do they understand what Jesus did? Do they understand what He said? And you make sure, because if they don’t understand that, chances are they’ll repeat words and have not a clue where they go on when they die.

In John 3 36, he that believeth on the sun hath everlasting life, he that believeth not the sun shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides upon him. The wrath of God abides upon those that do not believe. And he that believeth not the wrath of God abides upon him. As he says over the other verse, if you do not believeth, shall not perish. It means you shall not go to hell. And so you’ve got to understand, I’m turning your Bible to John chapter 4 and verse 10.

Chapter 4 and verse 10. Look how simple it is. If you use this little story, it’ll help you to make the gospel clear to somebody. Everything that I’m telling you tonight I’ve used. I don’t have to mark my Bible as much as I used to. This is when I didn’t understand. I had to mark everything because I wouldn’t remember. But now I can take a Bible that don’t hardly have any notes in it, and I can use it because I know where it is on the page.

I’ve learned it. One of the reasons for your doing that is to help you. If you can open up the Bible and say, now look at this verse. Well they can see where your fingers point in and you can get them to do it. But it helps you to find where you want to go. Helps you know what to bring out about that verse. There’s a lot of time people don’t witness because they don’t know what to say. They don’t show them in the Bible because they don’t know where to go in the Bible to show them anything.

They just know it’s in there somewhere. But learn certain things. You can’t learn all the Bible. Forget that. Learn key things in the Bible that will help you to be effective. And so here in John chapter four, in verse 10, where Jesus made the statement, if thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that sat in the knee give me to drink, thou would have have asked him And he would have given the living water, but something so simple.

If thou knewest the gift of God, if you only knew the gift of God, then you would have accepted it. He said, and I would have given it to you. See, he has a gift and he wants to give it to you. And that’s what salvation is. It’s as easy as drinking a glass of water. You thirst and you drink. You want this, you want this free gift of eternal life where you can go to heaven and you die.

That’s the thirst. What will quench the thirst except in Christ as your only way of getting there and you’re going there so it satisfies. Everyone in the world is thirsty. They want to live forever. They just don’t know how. They don’t know God. They don’t know how much he loves them. You can satisfy their longing hearts by using the word of God to quench their thirst. Everyone hungers for something, and that’s why he uses that in here also. Oh, look at in verse 14, Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst.”

But what does he say about this water that you’ll never thirst? He calls it up there in that verse 10, the gift of God. The gift of God is eternal life. And this water that lasts forever and satisfies forever is eternal life. And that’s why he says over and over again throughout the gospel of John, he that believe it on me, hath, present tense, hath everlasting life because it satisfies. And if it satisfies, that’s why I don’t have to try to earn my way to heaven because I’m already going.

I’m satisfied. The only reason you have to try to earn it because you haven’t got it yet, you’ve got to keep prevailing and keep working and so forth. That’s not the way salvation is. Look in John 5, 24. You should have this verse also marked in your Bible. Now certain verses you can underline the whole verse if there’s not a lot of other verses around it that makes it also stand out because of having them underlined. But this verse will pretty well stand for itself and you can underline the whole verse.

Where he says, barely, barely I say unto you, hear that hearth my word and believeth on him that sent me half. Present tense, right now, half everlasting life. and get this in the future, in the future, shall not come into condemnation. Means you can never be condemned in the future. Isn’t that a good verse? It means that if I trust Christ now in the future, I can’t be condemned. And if I can’t be condemned, I can’t be sentenced to hell.

I can’t go there. I can never be condemned in the future. But as far as God is concerned, you’ve already passed from death unto life. You see, when God saved you, He saved you from hell. Now you can’t go. He said, I’m gonna take you to heaven. It’s good as done. God can’t change it. You can’t change it. It’s a done deal. And that’s why telling people this good news is such a good thing. It’s not good news to go into all the world and tell people, you know, if you wanna go to heaven, just keep the 10 commandments.

Is that good news? To go to heaven, just try to live perfect. That’s all you gotta do is just live a perfect life. That’s not good news. And that’s why I said before, it’s not good news to be safe for an hour or to be safe for a day, to be safe for a week, to be safe for a month, to be safe for a year, but it is good news to be safe forever, to be safe forever. That is good news.

Look, they’re also in verse 40. In verse 40 of the same chapter, he says, and you will not come to me that you might have life. So who has life? The church, the pastor, you will not come to me that you might have life. So the only way to get life eternal life is with Christ. That’s why he said he that hath the son hath life and he that hath not the son hath not life. Because Jesus Christ is eternal life.

As it says in 1 John chapter 5, This is the true God and eternal life. Jesus Christ is eternal life. He is God’s gift. So when you accept Christ, you have eternal life. And that’s why he says in John 17, he says, to whom to know is life eternal? Just to know God is eternal life. And so people say, well, I know the Lord. Do you have eternal life? Well, I’m not sure. Then you don’t know God. You don’t know the Lord.

When you know the Lord, you have eternal life. But anyway, as we’re moving right along, look in John 635, John 635, and Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He that come up to me shall never hunger. Come to who? Come to him. He is the bread that came down from heaven. He says in the Old Testament, your fathers ate manna and they’re dead. I am the true bread that came down from heaven, and he that eats this bread shall never hunger, never hunger.”

It means when you eat this bread, you don’t have to eat it again and again and again and again because once will suffice. It’ll satisfy forever. See, these are simple illustrations, and the reason these illustrations are used in the gospel of John is because the purpose of the gospel of John, he says that these things are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and by believing in him you shall have life through his name.

That’s the purpose of the book. So then if you want illustrations, he’s given us all the illustrations we need in order to win people to Christ. and to share certain stories so that people can see and understand. There are windows that light into a dark room. And so he’s given us these tools in which to use. Look there also in John 6.35 where he makes the statement about believing. He says, and he that believeth on me shall, and you ought to underline that never thirst, never hunger, never thirst.

I actually believe the word never means never. So what does it mean in the Greek? I think never means never. So once you do it, you’d never have to do it again. Doesn’t that make sense? And if he says, I give unto you eternal life, then what am I supposed to believe? Well, it all depends on how you interpret it. Well, how do you interpret it? I interpret it as if I believe it. I have eternal life. How do you interpret it?

I’d done that with the person before. I was using Ephesians 2, 8, and 9. This is the way I lie to all depends on how you interpret it. I says, it says not of words. How do you interpret not of works? That it is a works? When it says, by grace through faith, I said, what do you believe? By works. So you can take and twist, you can twist their minds.

It’s better to learn simplicity. Learn the simple things that God’s given us. Don’t try to spend your life going deep into the Word. You can go so deep and stay down so long and come up so dry. Learn something you can use, something that can satisfy a lost soul. Because otherwise you’ll just wait until you learn it all. I want to know it all so that when somebody asked me a question, I can give them an answer. What’s one of the best ways of learning the Word of God?

do what you can with what you have. And you’d be surprised how you’ll begin to grow and your knowledge will keep on increasing and increasing. See, if you don’t use what you have now, why should God give you more? If you don’t use light that God’s already given you, why should God give you additional light? So you hinder yourself, you’ll hinder your growth, and that’s why the Bible says in the book of Hebrews in chapter 6, and we will go on to maturity if God permits.

See, permitting you to grow in the Lord is a result of God allowing you to have additional light. Because without additional light, without understanding an additional truth, you can’t grow. You cannot mature in Christ. Therefore, you have to take it seriously. That’s why sometimes you can sit in church for 20 years and never grow spiritually. You just absorb. But just like a sponge, sometimes they got to be squeezed. the preacher puts the squeeze on you and try to talk you into doing something.

You say, I don’t want to do it, but you start squeezing them a little bit. And next thing you know, they started doing, hey, no, that was pretty good. I can do this. Yeah. Sometimes you scare people away. I know that. I know. I don’t know why I do that, but I do that. John 637, looking John 637, all that the Father give of me shall come to me and him that come to me. And this phrase ought to be underlined in your Bible.

Or, highlight, I will in no wise cast out. Do you have that underlined in your Bible? When should you underline it? Right now. Every time you come to church, you should always have a nice marking pen. Always have a pen. When I go out, when I leave the house, or if I leave this church, you know what I’ve always got on me? I don’t leave unless I’ve got tracks. I feel like I’m naked without my tracks. If I lived in your wild west days, I feel like I’ve got to have my sixth gun on my side.

This is my sixth gun. These are what I shoot people with. These are my bullets. And I don’t feel like I can do a good job without having some tracks on me. Now if you never carry tracks, it means you’re not planning on talking to anybody. Chances are, if you don’t have tracks, I mean you’re probably not going to plan on leaving one anywhere. Right? Just be honest, just, but if you have them, at least you have them. And if you get an opportunity, you just might be able to share it with somebody.

I had an interesting thing happen this morning, all because of my wife. She was hearing somebody at another table. And it wasn’t long before they came over there because they were going to solve my problem with my car. My diesel is got a little start problem. And by the time he got through, he says, I’ll be at your church this morning at 10 o’clock. And I’m going to give you a brand new car. If you saw him, I appreciate if you let me know because I didn’t see him.

I was in here and he says, tomorrow I’m gonna come by and give you a check for $100,000. I don’t even notice guy, but you know what I did right off the bat? I gave him a track just in case he needs to find me. Now tell me, does it pay to carry tracks? Yes it does. So you always want to have a track. Now looking verse 39, verse 39 where he says that he will know wise, cast you out, know wise, lose nothing.

He’ll never cast you out in verse 37, never lose you in verse 39. Those are important verses. This is what my Father-law helped grind into my brain after he led me to the Lord. If there’s anything I learned from my Father-law, It was, I was eternally secure and nothing would ever change that. And that brought me great security in my life. I know I am a child of God. I know I’m going to heaven when I die. And for some reason or other, it just burned inside me.

Everybody ought to know this. This is worth telling people about. Just to tell them people, if you walk up to a guy on a, He’s laying in a gutter and he’s drunk as a cougar and you ask him and say, where are you going to die? The hell if I don’t change. And then you walk into some churches and they got on a three piece soon. You say, where are you going to die? Well, the hell if I don’t change, what’s the difference?

You know, different between that church going guy in a three piece suit and that guy laying in the gutter, neither one of them know where they go when they die. What does this church guy have to offer him? He don’t know where he’s going. He don’t know where he’s going. He’d probably happier. At least that guy’s probably honest. This guy’s a self-righteous hypocrite claiming to be something that is not. Based on how good he is and he thinks he’s good enough.

I can’t believe the arrogance he of some people who think they’re actually good enough to go to heaven by how good they are. You realize the pride in that? Look in verse 40. Verse 40. Verse 40 says, and this is the will of him that sent me. that everyone which saved the Son and believeth on Him may have everlasting life. Everyone, everyone which saved the Son and believeth on Him hath everlasting life. Everyone, isn’t that good verse? Can’t you find that maybe that verse would be good to use with somebody, but you can’t use that verse if you don’t know that verse is in the Bible.

You don’t know where it is. Or maybe you look for it and you can’t find it, when you have it underline yourself. Oh, your eyes drawn to it and you can see it and it’ll help you tremendously. Why are you right there? Look in verse 47, verse 47, very, very, I send to you. He that believe it on me. Hat, present tense. Right now, I’d underline the word hat, hat everlasting life. And look what you have to do to get it.

Believe. Believe means to trust. If you will believe that when Christ died, He died for you. You can know that you have eternal life and know that you’re going to heaven when you die. Look there in verse 50. In verse 50 of the same chapter in verse 50. And this is the bread which cometh down from heaven that a man may eat thereof and not die. Now physically, yes, you know you’re going to die. But this is when you trust Christ is your Savior, you’ll never die.

You’ll never die because that means that once you trust Him as your Savior and He promises you will not die, that means you can never die and go to hell and the future can’t die. The new birth can’t die. So it means that you can only get saved once, you can only get a new birth one time, this new birth one time and it’ll never die. So I got my new birth 52 years ago and I’ll never die. That song we were saying, where the soul never dies, I really like that.

It will never die. Well, there’s verses in the Bible that says that. Also look there in verse 51 where it says, eat this bread. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. Any man eat of this bread. He shall live for how long? Live forever. Eat of this bread. Live forever. You do this and you get to live forever. And you didn’t say keep eating. All you have to is eat the bread. The word of God is simple and it is clear.

But look down in verse. Let’s just call the way down to chapter 11 of the book of Rod John. look in chapter 11. You know when I do funerals I very often refer to these verses and especially because it is so simple it’s so clear and Jesus asked the question, believe us, style this. You see there in verse 25, Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life. When he says I’m the resurrection and I am the life I am eternal life.

But look what he said. He that believe it then me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. You see, he’s referring to Lazarus who is dead, yet shall he live. She’s all I know in the resurrection is going to live. He’s I am the resurrection. Me now, I am this now. I am eternal life now. I have it now. I can give it now. I can resurrect now. He’s the Lord, He’s God. And so He says in verse 26, And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

The one when you believe in Him, you get a new birth, that’ll never die. But the first birth, it will die. But when the first birth dies, the second one can’t die. So look up here. He that believeth in me shall never die. But he that believeth in me, over here, He said, if you die, you shall live again. This one will die, but you will live forever with the Lord. There’s two natures here, two births and two results.

So he says in the last part of verse 26, believe is thou this. So there’s a certain thing that people have to believe in order to be saved. So he says in verse 27, she said unto him, Yea, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God which should come into the world. And see in John chapter 4 when he talks about the womaneth the well, and it says, concerning the womaneth the well, the men made the statement, we believe on him not because of her testimony, not all of it anyway, but because we have seen for ourselves and believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

And she said, see if this is not the Christ, the Savior of the world, the one that should come. Because to them the Christ was a reference to the one that would come and be the Savior of the world. So when you’re talking about trusting Christ, you’re talking about Him saving you. That’s why you trust Him. And if you trust Him, you should get something. And what would you get. You would receive the free gift of everlasting life and He promises in John 6, 37 and 39, I’ll never cast you out and I’ll never lose you.

That’s the greatest thing in all the world. So I want you to take your Bible and turn to the book of Romans in chapter 1, the book of Romans and chapter 1. The Apostle Paul makes a tremendous statement that many Anytime we hear it over and over again. But He makes the statement about the gospel, and how that He’s not ashamed. If the gospel is eternal security, I should not be ashamed of the teaching of eternal security. Or once you’re saved, you are always saved because it is the truth.

There is no other salvation. is no temporary salvation. There is no probationary salvation. You’re either eternally saved or not saved at all. So in Romans chapter one and verse 16, I want you to look at this verse, where he makes a statement for, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, the good news, for it is the power of God unto salvation. So if a man is going to be saved, he must hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This good news. And he says to everyone that does what? Believe it. That’s all that’s required. The gospel is that only thing that a man needs to do is They leave. The good news about Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross for them. And God will save Him and give Me eternal life. And so Paul said, I’m not ashamed of that message. So if you’re not ashamed of it, maybe we ought to share it. We ought to take a stand for it.

That’s what I do when I’m on the radio. I take a stand for that. If I’m on internet, I take a stand for the clarity of the Gospel. When I do a memorial service or a funeral or even a wedding, I give the gospel and tell them how that eternal life is a gift of God, and that it is eternally secure when you get saved. Because otherwise there is no gospel, there is no good news, there’s no message to tell.

That’s why it’s so very important. Look up here. This hand representing you and me and the wallah represents sin. We all have sin upon us. He spanked the people. God loves you. Now He doesn’t approve of your sin. He doesn’t love your sin, but He loves you. Do you know when I’m talking to a person, sometimes you’d be surprised how many times I say that. You know, God loves you, God loves you, God loves you. Because if there’s anything I want them to understand is that God loves you.

And to pay for this sin is eternal separation from God in hell, but God loves you. Want you to go to heaven. God wants you to go to heaven. And so to go to heaven you have to be perfect, just like God. But none of us are like God. We’ve all come short of God’s perfection. So we cannot save ourselves. Therefore we need a Savior. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God and the flesh came into the world because He loves His hate, our sin, because our sin separates us from Him.

So Christ took the sin, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead, and said that if we would believe He did it for us, He would put this payment He made to our account. We go to heaven on what He did. We have eternal life because of what He said. He says, if you believe it, you will not perish. Means I won’t have to go and pay for my sins. But have everlasting life means I get to go to heaven because of what He did.

That’s the best news in all the world. This is the gospel. Eternal security is the gospel. That’s That’s what makes it good news. Let’s pray, shall we? We head by nice clothes and I’ll win looking around, or if you’re watching by internet tonight. We’re so thankful for the people that do visit with us by the streaming of our broadcast. And we just want to be a blessing to people. We want them to understand how simple God has made it.

He did all the work, took it for all the hard part. All he wants us to do is believe he did it for us. Would you do that? If you’re here tonight and you’ve never trusted Christ is your savior. Would you just between you and the Lord said, Lord, I know I’m a sin, and I believe Christ died and paid for my sins. And I will right now, I will right now trust Christ as my savior. And friend, if you’ll do that, God said, He would save you and give you eternal life.

And you can know that you’re going to heaven when you die. Is anyone else a yes, that made sense to me and preach I’d like you to pray for me. Anyone all before we close, just slip you in it very quickly, for a bit down. Our Father, we thank you again for loving us and sending your son to to die for us to give us eternal life as a gift. And Father, help us not to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believe it.

So we thank you for this church, the ministry you’ve given us. We thank you Lord for those that support this work, the stand behind it, that work and labor here.
