You know, sometimes we think we’ve got it all together and then sometimes it just seems like everything just falls apart. Just when you’re fun. just when you’re fine. Just whenever I, I finally got all the answers and nobody asked me any questions. Really can be frustrated. You know, it’s frustrated as, I guess you’d say, a ball headed hippie. Remember the hippies? And then they started losing all their hair and that’s frustration. They said, first straight is really, when you don’t know what to do and you see your, you know, your mother-in-law driving over the cliff and your new Cadillac, you know, you just don’t know what to do.

Or how to handle that. Well, you know, if you watch the news and God help you, and you see all the things that’s on the news, and you know, when Bush was in there as president, and if five people in Iraq got killed, it was front page. They had about 60 or 70 got killed, and it buried on some back page. You’d notice stuff like that, do you know things like that? I noticed stuff like that. And I’ll think about not just there, but in Mexico, people were getting killed because of a hurricane or a tornado or something.

And then out there in Colorado with all the flood, it just seemed like it’s just hitting everywhere, all kinds of things going on. And I believe God is judging this world. And He’s given us warning signs, but nobody wants to listen. And sometimes it’s kind of like little Johnny. Johnny, you do that one more time. Johnny, if you do that one more time. Johnny, if you do that one more time. After a while, Johnny don’t think you’re gonna do anything.

And so sometimes it seemed like Because execution against a crime is not executed speedily. It seemed like, okay, well, I’m getting away with it. America actually thinks they’re getting away with something. It doesn’t really matter how we live or how we think. Nothing matters. Just do whatever you want now. But what about the next generation and our kids having to face all these, it don’t matter. We won’t be here, let them worry about it. And so a lot of people just don’t care.

And we are filled with such apathy. And I hate to say it, but I think even with preachers in the pulpit. Because we wanna have a comfortable ministry and we don’t wanna say anything that bothers anybody. And so we kinda go through this. And I wrote something down. I wanna give you this little statement I wrote down. I wrote, I must not conform my message to fit your lifestyle. that you must conform your lifestyle to fit my message. Let me read to you again, because I don’t preach a message to fit your lifestyle, to make everybody nice and comfortable.

I expect when I teach what the Word of God says, I expect you to change your lifestyle to fit the message. Do you understand what I’m saying? I believe that’s what God wants. That’s not what I want, it’s what the Bible teaches. That’s why we teach the Bible. And as time goes on and gets more difficult for people to set aside even a small brief time to come together as a body of believers, it’s going to be more difficult as we go because it’s not going to matter with some people.

They only want to hear what makes them feel good, to tickle their ears. They already determine how they’re going to live and they’re going to conform to the world. They just want to hear a nice little message that makes them feel good while they do it. The reason for studying the Word of God is so that you can be pricked in your conscience. We are supposed to try to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comforted. We studied the Bible to learn the things that we ought to learn.

there’s something that you need to know. You have heard about incurable diseases, things that happens and doctors don’t have a cure for it. And after a while, even medicine that they have developed that can help with certain things loses its effectiveness because things change. And becomes, you know, immune to certain things and the medicine doesn’t work like it used to. And they’re always coming up with something and I just heard recently about several people that somehow or other because of some bad water or some kind of sewage-like stuff that got into their ears or their breath or something.

And then it begins to blacken on me, but it eats the brain away. And they can’t cure it. And they’re always talking about some new viruses coming up. Whether it’s in Asia or some other countries, they always have something. And they do fear that one of these days, something is going to sweep this country and the world without a cure. But there is a bigger problem than just all of that. And that is that we have an incurable disease, an incurable disease.

Now you may not look at it that way, but all of the religions of the world that cannot cure the Old Sinful Nature can’t help you. And by that I mean this, only a new birth can give anybody any hope for the incurable heart of man. Man has a wicked heart, a sinful heart, incurably wicked. And that’s why all the laws in the world and all the religions in the world can’t cure a man’s deepest problems. It can’t really change the man.

And you take about all the religions, even if you want to call their religion of Islam a religion. It’s more than that. But look at the heart of man where they can just kill anybody at any time and anywhere. And they are not afraid to let you know what they think and feel. But you also have a lot of sweet pious religions. So sweet and so kind. in love, they are just as wicked as the religion of Islam because it also blinds a man the truth.

It causes a person to have a false hope and a false peace and a belief that cannot save their soul. It cannot help them. If it cannot give them a new birth, it isn’t worth a quarter. and the religions of the world cannot give a new birth. How do you know? Listen to their gospel message. If it is not a true gospel message of pure grace, it cannot produce the new birth. If it can’t produce the new birth, there is no cure for the sinful heart of man, the wicked man, born into this world.

Regardless of sweet and nice and kind of you are a sinner and there’s no medicine you can take for that. No doctor can prescribe anything for you to cure that problem. The doctor can’t take away the bitterness and the hatred, the sinful nature that you and I were born with. There’s only one thing that can solve the problem and that’s the new birth. And if you don’t get the new birth, there is no hope. And this is why as time goes on, when you get further and further away from the Bible and God Christ, the only thing that can produce the cure, the new birth, they want nothing to do with that.

And so the more wicked people become, the more laws they have to have to regulate you until they just put you all into an asain asylum or put all of us into a jail. And therefore we will have no freedoms at all to reason or think on our own. We’re getting close to that. The world is choosing sides, but I’ll say more about that tonight. I want you to turn into the Bible to the book of Mark. The Gospel of Mark in chapter 7.

I want to read something to you and then I want to say a few words. I’ve used some of these same scriptures before but brought about maybe just a little bit different. But here in the book of Mark in chapter 7. It says, in verse 6, He answered and said unto them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites. As it is written, this people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. How be it in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men.

This is what I’ve been talking about. The religions that can’t solve the problem, it cannot help. It didn’t come from God. If it cannot produce the new birth, it cannot cure the problem. Only the new birth can cure the heart of man by giving you another birth born of God. And that’s why Jesus says, you must be born again, or you can’t see it, or you cannot enter it. And then that’s only solving part of the problem, because even though you may trust Christ as your Savior, You still have that old sinful nature dwelling within you.

And many of God’s children walk in the flesh. They’re not serving God. They are conformed to the world or in the process of being conformed to the world, being like the world and the world determines their lifestyle, determine how they think and reason. So he says here in verse 8, for laying aside the commandment of God, laying in a sight, putting it aside. We don’t need the Bible. We don’t need what God says. We have our own answers. We have our own cures.

Yeah. And the more laws they passed, the more wicked people become. Because they rebelled against the very laws that supposed to contain them and restrain them and it doesn’t work. So that well we need more laws, more laws. And in their thinking they think well we wouldn’t have all these problems with these mass shootings if nobody had a gun. Yeah, if nobody had a gun nobody had any freedoms either. Only the government would have the guns and then they will dictate to you what you can and cannot do and where you can and cannot go.

We ought to learn that from history. That’s why this country was founded to give us freedom not to become enslaved or to have a big government over us telling us how to live our lives and to think we can elect a few brilliant individuals and the leaders that can set the standard for everybody else. I am a free man. I was born free. I live in a free country so far. And I don’t like what I see coming down the road.

But anyway, you kind of get that drift every once in a while. But look there in verse 9. He said unto them, full well you reject the commandment of God that you may keep your own tradition. In other words, you have your own way, your own philosophy, you have your way of life that you want to live, you have your own rules and regulations, full well you reject what God has to say. Did you know that there’s people that know Christ as Savior, that know the Lord, going to heaven when they die, have the new birth, and full well they reject the Word of God.

They think they actually think they’re smart enough to lead and guide their own life. That they don’t need church. We don’t need a preacher telling us what we can and cannot do. Yes, you do. So how do you know? God said so. And we’re not smarter than God. We do need to come together to know each other, to pray for one another, to encourage one another. And even if necessary, rebuke one another because we do care about each other.

As you go down through here, he says some things that what Moses said, but he says in verse 13, making the word of God of none effect through your traditions which you have delivered and many such like things do ye, making the word of God of no effect. That’s what they’re trying to do in our country because there’s people, see, they have an incurable heart and they believe the answer is more legislation. Control, control, control, pass more laws and if we could pass more laws and nobody had guns nobody would want to hurt anybody.

Nobody went wrong anybody. And And you believe that? I’d hate to ask how many people believe that, because I don’t believe that. The next statement, they came to him and he says, would you explain a couple things to us? So he did. See there in verse 18, he said to them, are you so without understanding also? Do not perceive, do you not perceive that whatsoever things from without entrance into the man, it cannot be fallen. Because that entrance not into his heart, but into the belly and go out into the draw, purging all meat.

And he says, that which coming out of the man, that defile of the man, for from within man, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adultery, spornication and murders and thefts, covetous and wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness and na’ evil eye, Blasphemy, pride, foolishness, all these evil things come from within, and you file them in. That’s what God says you are, and I am. It’s like taking a picture, when you take a picture of yourself. Don’t you like to have somebody that knows how to take a picture, take a good picture, and your best side?

You know you always got a best side. And you want to maybe use that picture to let people know what you look like. But what about if God be coming to this room? And He took a picture of your real condition, of your symptoms, a picture of your symptoms, and my symptoms, what would it reveal? Like given us an x-ray, an MRI, to see where we are spiritually. Wouldn’t that be scary? Would you want to do that? Well, see, the Word of God, when you study the Word of God, is better than an x-ray machine.

It reveals the heart of man. It lets you see what we’re really like. You see, we control ourselves to a certain degree, but did you know that every person in this room is capable of committing rape? You say, I’ve never done that. You are capable of committing rape. You are capable of murder. You’re capable of hatred, of poisoning your wife, of filling your husband, slaughtering your kids. You’re capable of every sin in the book because it’s within you. You have an old sinful nature.

And that’s why I wanted just to mention a couple of things to you. I don’t have time to go through the whole book of Isaiah, but get a chance. You read the first chapter of Isaiah where God is looking at his children of Israel. He says, I have hooked you and whooped you and whooped you. And you still rebel against me. You’ve had a kid like that. It don’t matter how you whooped some of them. They just stand in open defiance.

And there’s people that know God and are in open defiance of God. It doesn’t matter what God does, they’re going to rebel. And God can beat the Torah out of them, give them all kind of warns and it doesn’t help. So what is the cure? We have an incurable diseaseourge in curable heart. You see every one of us sitting here we have eyes of them. We don’t see the way God wants us to see. In Romans 3, 18 says, there is no fear of God before their eyes, no fear of God before their eyes.

How do you know they don’t fear God when you don’t fear sin, you don’t fear God? You don’t fear that there are going to be consequences. So therefore the heart of man is to do more evil. at our world today. Did you know there was a time when nobody thought that it was acceptable for people that are not married to live together? Isn’t that telling you the truth? Isn’t it true that years ago if a girl got pregnant and she wasn’t married, it was a shame?

Am I telling you the truth or not? And men with men and women with women was disgusting. It was sinful. was wicked, it was wrong. I’m not lying to you. The only thing that’s changed is our view. We don’t see it as, well it’s not that bad because everybody does it. No, everybody don’t. But if it was sinful and wicked back then is it still wicked and sinful today? The word of God has not changed. So when the Bible says, be not conformed to this world, the world should not determine my lifestyle.

The world should not determine how I think. I want to see the way God wants me to see. And Job 11, 20 says, but the eyes of the wicked shall fail and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost. Their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost. It’s like it will totally leave you empty because it’s a false hope, a false joy, a false peace. The believer, those who know Christ is Savior, we believe in the fact, we believe the truth.

And we know that in the end we will win. We know there’s going to be a new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. But the only cure for mankind is a new birth and then after they’re born in the God’s family they get them to serve God. You take that away there is no hope for mankind. All the rules in the world won’t work and all the dictators will not work. Socialism does not work and And our country is headed toward socialism.

We’re already there. That’s what’s destroying this country is we do not have a Republican form of government. We got socialism. And I’m trying my dead-level best not to get sidetracked this morning. I’m trying to stay on course the main highway. Sometimes I just forget where the the on-ramp is. The next thing I wanted to mention to you, Proverbs 27, 20 minutes a statement. Hail and destruction are never full. So the eyes of man are never satisfied. The eyes of man is never satisfied.

You see, we got eye trouble. And what you see, you want to see more. I remember one time when I was a student at Florida Bible College, and I was with a friend of mine, broke Brian, and we was riding down the street there in Miami on the way to I think it was the uh uh rescue mission I had to speak there and we saw a girl she walked by and she didn’t have enough material to make leggings for a hummingbird I’m telling you it had gotten so high it reached bottom I almost wrecked did you know years ago when we saw anything that was not honorable we were shocked shocked it to what somebody said shocked at what somebody did.

But see the shot value has gone away. We’re not shocked by anything anymore. And whatever anybody says that we’re not ashamed anymore. A girl can get pregnant and be out there like that watermelon and it doesn’t matter anymore. Nobody’s ashamed. Everybody does that. It used to not be acceptable because it brought reproach upon you. I’m not saying that people can’t They do make mistakes. They do things wrong, but you admit it. It was wrong. Today, they’re not saying it’s wrong.

It’s okay. People are shacking up with somebody. It’s not wrong anymore. It’s it is still wrong. Sex outside of marriage is still wrong. Just because people don’t know me you don’t love the people. But there’s we’re losing. We can’t tell what’s right and wrong anymore. Everything’s a dirty gray. It’s not black and white. Nobody knows what truth is. There’s no such thing as absolute. It’s all relative. It only pens. Well, you get back to the Bible, you find out they don’t depend on what God says.

And that’s what you go by. Second Peter chapter 2 and verse 14 makes this statement says, having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, cannot cease from sin, can’t And there’s people just can’t, it’s like running away from truth. They can’t stop running. When Adam sinned against God and the Lord showed up and he says, Adam, what did he say? Where Arthur, where are you? Here I come, ready or not. And Adam hid. Why did he hide?

Why did he hide? something changed. Something changed. God didn’t change. Something happened to him. You see, he sinned against God. And people who sin against God, regardless, willily or unwill, they sin against God. If they don’t want the truth, they don’t want the Bible and they don’t need God and they don’t need the church. They’re going to do their own thing and go their own way. And that’s what happens. Let me give you this, because not only is the eye incurable, the Bible talks about the throat.

Talks about the tongue, talks about the lips, talks about the mouth. Let me just give a couple of things to you. In Romans chapter 3 and verse 13 says, their throat is an open saphracha. This is how God sees lost people, the people in the world, the heathen. You look at some girl’s mouth and all those pretty ruby lips and she got on her lipstick that she got on her makeup, no spots, no blemishes, boy, she’s a purty, this little thing and God says she smells like a grave inside of her.

You ever seen those commercials with some girls smoking a camel? Who in the world wants to kiss a girl and smell a camel? But they want everything to be acceptable and God says inside of you. What’s coming up out of you? All these things mentioned in the book of Mark, that’s what’s defiling you. It’s coming from a source. There’s a root problem. All of the things that people do that so bad and wrong is the fruit of a bad root and the root is incurable.

That’s why God said, I wanna plant another tree. I wanna solve the problem so that whenever you die, you’ve got this new birth. This is the righteous tree that gets to go to heaven. a tree that doesn’t have a sinful nature at its core. This one has a divine nature. It’s the new birth that God gives to you. So when you physically die, this one is buried. It’s in the flesh and the body. It’s in my members.

But absent from the body is present with the Lord. And we get to go to heaven wherein dwelleth righteousness. The only cure for an incurable heart the new birth and government can’t provide that. They try to provide everything else, but they can’t give anything to anybody unless they take it from somebody else first and then they give it out to whoever they think meets their criteria. That’s wickedness. That’s not the Bible. It’s not the Constitution. It’s not the American way and it’s not the Republican form of government.

He says in Psalms 5-9, for there is no faithfulness in their mouth. Their inward part is very wickedness, their throat is an open seperica, they flatter with their tongue. There is no faithfulness. They have no control because you see, a no sinful desire keeps changing. The desires of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life. Everything keeps changing and there’s no stability. If people could find out, well, what is truth and live truth? Did you know that if we did what God says, do God’s way?

Every man would love his wife. Every man would love his children. Every wife would love her husband and love her kids. And if we did right with all of the church, the church is people. Church is indeed buildings. It’s not these walls, not that floor, not that view you’re sitting in. That’s not a church. That’s just things. Christ died for the church, not that carpet. He died for the church, not those lights, not that screen. He died for people.

The people of the church. You. Somebody says, I don’t like the church. You don’t like the people that Christ died for? The only reason we come together is because we minister to each other because God says, I want you to help each other, to teach each other, to encourage one another.
