And so, at about quarter to two, I had to wait a lot. Let’s live it alone. All of a sudden, here came a couple, couple and then a couple more. And then after a while, there was 18 of them sitting there, beside me, Betty and Trina, 18 of the staff came in. They had went and got cleaned up and dressed up so that they would look sharp. They were going to, they would come in the chapel for a Bible study.
And so they came in there. And so the one guy he played the couple songs with the guitar, same songs that we play in camp and stuff. So they turned that over to me and they weren’t really ready for Yankee. You know how you are when you hear somebody tell a joke and you don’t know whether or not was that a joke and you don’t know whether to laugh or not to laugh because nobody knew me so they didn’t know how to respond to me.
But it wasn’t until I told him how I got my name Yankee. And I said my daddy says I was the ugliest kid in the world but my dad had never seen him. He was the the one that was the head, the guy. He got it good. He laughed, and then they all laughed, and then I had him. So anyway, I explained the gospel and taught some things, and I went for about 45 minutes. So it was about 130 when we got out of there.
And then they had to be up at 4.35 o’clock getting things ready for breakfast. But that was such a sacrifice for them to do it. And I met them the next day, and you know, for the meals, and they were working and so forth. And they would come to me from all over. If they saw me anywhere, they’d come up and so glad and shaking my hand and such a beam on their face. And one little girl was from Peru.
Another one was from Serbia. And a bunch of them were from the Philippines. And they were from all over. And so just that easy. Now, I don’t know how the pastor would do it. Can you see me with the, you know, only a few minutes to talk the people, you know, are you willing to give up all of your sins? Are you willing to commit your life to Christ for the rest of your natural born life? Will you promise or is it easier just to tell them, look, you know what I did?
I wrote something down. I don’t know if I had out here with me or not, but I wrote it down and I don’t see it. But it was along this line. If Christ loved us so much that He was willing to die for us, He died for us without the guarantee we would ever believe on Him. And I thought about that. I said, there, and I’d write and I think he didn’t do it because he knew we would believe.
He did it so that we would have a chance to live with him. Because even though he paid for the sins of the world, the world isn’t saved, only those that believe it. And so if you believe it, he died to give me a chance. Christ died. Was it worth it? What have you done with His death? If He died for you, did you believe that He did it for you? He sacrificed His life for you? I want you to take your Bible and look there in Romans in chapter 1 where it makes this statement, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that turns from his sins, from everyone that commits his life to Christ.
Or did it say to everyone that what? That believes. In other words, there’s a story to tell, and if you’ll believe that story, that means you’re going to trust what you heard. And hearing they believed and you’re saved by believing something. I’m not saved by anything that I do. I heard and I believe that what Christ did was for me. Now the people they do things differently. Not everybody reacts the same way. We had a kid out there in Colorado, name was Donnie Lacey, came from Lee Patton’s work down in San Antonio.
So one day I put a joke on him in chapel. I said, Donnie Lacey came to me one time. He wanted some advice about dating girls. So I told him, I said, just don’t be fresh. Don’t be fresh. Be a gentleman at all times. So I saw the girl the next day and I asked her, I said, well, how did it go on your date? I said, was he fresh? She said, oh, no, no, no, no. I slapped his face three times.
He said, what? I said, he wasn’t afraid. No, she said, no, I thought he was dead. Some Christians are dead. There is no life in them whatsoever. They have nothing to say, nothing to talk about. I’m alive, I’m excited, and I love doing what I do. I love the Lord. God been so good to me. But I’m so glad that God made salvation so simple and so clear, and that all we have to do is trust the Lord. Now, I want you to take your Bible and turn with me over here to a scripture.
And Matthew chapter 28, Matthew chapter 28. I thought about this one time. Is God only interested in numbers? Now I know there’s a book in the Bible called Numbers. And the day of Pentecost there were 3000 saved. So God is interested in number when a number represents a soul, but is God only interested in a number? Because he’s not a respecter or a person, so some people say that God has chosen who he’s going to save and the rest of them can’t be saved.
Only one who can be is the one that he chooses to save. And that’s a heretical doctrine. I do not believe that one I owe them. But if it’s only a numbers game, he just wants so many people that he’s going to save, then wouldn’t it make a lot more sense for God just to figure out how many people does he want and then put them all in one place if you’re in New York City? How many people does he want to save?
He want 20 million? You want 10 million? Well, there’s enough people in a lot of these cities They just rope off a place and say, these are the ones I’m gonna save and just save those and just send your missionaries just to that one place. Why waste your time sending all these missionaries all over the world trying to find some little person and a little hot and hot here and a little person over there and over there? Why not just put them in one space if it’s just numbers and just get all of these?
Don’t that make sense? If that’s what God’s doing and he’s just trying to get a certain number, well, because he’s able to get a certain number in one location, and just save all of those, and let your little missionaries go in there and talk to this those in this area here, and God will just save all of them, and we can get this work done fast. But that ain’t what he said, because I don’t think that’s what he means.
I believe, really, that when he says, who’s so ever believeth, it’s open to who’s so ever, anybody. That’s why when we got ready to get off the ship, I was sitting there drinking a cup of coffee and trying to go over a few thoughts that I wanted to share with you today. And Betty said, Yankee, that couple over there, you need to talk to them. Honey, I got some things I’m thinking right now. She says, they’re not going anywhere and you need to talk to them.
Okay. So she got up and she left. And I’m still sitting there and I’m thinking, Next thing you know, here she comes again. She’s yanking the head waiter. The head waiter’s over there, and you need to talk to him before you get off the boat. Now I’ve only got about ten minutes before I got to go, and I’m trying to, you know, and yes, there. So I walked over to those couple, and I said, can I ask you something?
And I pulled out one of my heaven tracks. And I literally pulled it out and I says, can I give you one of these? They let me say, you already did. I said, I did. You gave us one of the first day we was on the boat. Did I ask you if you know where you’re going? Yeah, we know Christ is our Savior. We know we’re going to heaven. I said, this is a lot of time. I said, thank you.
God bless you. She said, hey, we really appreciate you even talking to us twice. Okay, I got one more to go. I walked around the thing there and Betty says, that’s him. And she left. So I walked up to this guy. He’s uh Then you’re talking to another guy He’s all dressed in a solid white outfit, you know with some little gold bars on him. So this is not the average little, you know Anyway, I walk right up to him.
I think I had a lot of time. I walked up to him and I said sir can I ask your question? He said sure I Says where you gonna go when you die And all of a sudden he’s like he was in a steady shock He said I’m going in the ground I was like, I ain’t got time for all of this. I said, have you ever died before? He smiled and said, no, I haven’t. I said, then you don’t know that’s true, do you?
He wasn’t expecting that either. I said, I’ve only got a minute and you know it. And I got to go and get ready to get off the boat. I said, can I explain something to you? I said, sure. I said, I want you to understand this. Jesus Christ loves you so much. He was willing to die, then live without you. And it just totally changed his countenance. And he listened to everything that I said. But when I got through, I said, sir, does that make sense?
He says, it sure does. I said, well, you’re right now. Will you trust Christ as your Savior? He said, yes, I will. Now, if a man tells me he trusts in Christ as a Savior, Why shouldn’t I believe him? If I give him the gospel, then I tell him how to be saved. And he believes it. What did I do more than what he did? I was saved 53 years ago, and that’s all I did. What did you do that saved you?
That was more than just you believe in it. Nothing. Either you were saved because you heard it and you believed it, or you’re still not saved. Because there isn’t anything else required. Is it you’ve got to believe that he did it for you. And when you believe that he gives you the free gift of our lasting life. So I wanted you to see here in Matthew in chapter 28. Look what he says. verse 19, go ye therefore and teach all nations, all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son of the Holy, and you only do that to those you went into Christ.
So you have to give the gospel and that’s why he says, go into all the world, go therefore and preach. And that’s why he says in verse 18, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Now take your your Bible looking Mark 16, the book of Mark in chapter 16, just a few pages to your right. But just look what the Bible does say. Looking verse 15. And verse 15 says, and he said unto them, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every preacher.
I think if every preacher had the gospel it would be great, wouldn’t it? most preachers are not preaching the gospel. And that’s why they resent me making it too easy for people to get saved. When they accuse you of being an easy believer, it’s mean you’re telling people how to get saved in an easy way. Because they require something. Did you know that I will simply have this easy believerism gospel, I guess? You think it’s It’s so simple, why don’t everybody believe it, but if you simply believe it and you have eternal life, I have watched over the years many of those that have simply believed that I’ve talked to in just a few minutes of time and I’ve seen some of them grow and their whole life get changed and they’ll point back to that day that I talked to them and I’ve got
testimony that’s unreal. For the last 50 years of people that I’ve wanted to Christ, whose lives have been totally changed. And I never asked them to change one thing. And then yet I’ve seen a lot of people who have supposedly turned from their sins, committed their life to Christ, and totally fall apart mentally, emotionally, spiritually, because they create for themselves an environment, environment, they can’t sustain their sins, haunt them, and they either have to be dishonest with themselves that I’m not as pure as I think I am or as I try to get people to believe that I am, or even preachers are doing the same thing.
And that’s why so many quit the minister because they cannot live up to their own standards. Then they question their own salvation. I’ve never question my salvation in 53 years. And the reason is because it doesn’t depend on me. When your salvation depends upon how you live, you’ll have reason to question and doubt your salvation. I’m so glad that God made it simple. Go ye into all the world. Why going to all the world? God, if you just want a number, why don’t we just win all those right here in just one city?
We’ll take Tampa, and that would be an easier job. How are we doing just trying to win Tampa? In the Bible time, 120 people shook the world. The day you can have 120 churches in one city and they don’t even know God’s alive. We’re not doing the job as we ought to do it. But the devil will fight this kind of a message. When you tell a lost man that he has to stop his sin and start living godly in order to be saved to go to heaven, that’s the same as all the religions of the world, not a bit of difference.
Because that’s what they do. They tell you you have to live good enough. And no man has ever lived good enough to earn his way to heaven. It is the gift of God not of works, lest any man should boast. And God has been so good to let us hear it, understand it, and simply believe it. Take a Bible-looking Matthew, chapter 10. I want you to see this real quick. Matthew and chapter 10. You’ll notice in the book of Matthew and chapter 10, there’s the word there in verse 12 where it says, these 12 Jesus in forth commanded them, commanded them to go to the house of Israel.
So, it was a command they were supposed to do. Now look there in verse 7. Verse 7, and as you go, see those three little words? As you go. There’s something that God wants do as we go, as we live our life, as you go, do this. And then if you’ll notice there in verse 11, look in verse 11, and into whatsoever city or town you shall enter in choir who, and it is worthy, and they’re abide to you go thence those that were worthy, those that believe on Christ as their Savior, and they were to stay in their home.
But if they don’t trust the Lord, move on to the next house. And if you were getting sleepy, it would make you try to make sure you want somebody to load before he gets too dark. But anyway, as you go and what so ever, see that up there? What so ever city or town? See, it doesn’t matter what city, it doesn’t matter what town. As you go, this is what I want you to do. So as you live your life and as you go to work and as you go shopping, as you go, so seed.”
And then he makes another statement in verse 14, “…and whosoever shall not receive you,” Depart, that house is the one, “…but whosoever,” not everybody’s going to believe, but as you go, whatever town, whatever city, whatever person. I also wrote something down, and I wrote it on this little piece of paper I got up here now. There is not a place on earth where there are people that God has not sent someone. So wherever people are on the face of the earth, there isn’t a person anywhere in the world that God has not said, don’t go talk to that one.
He has given us a command to reach every person in the world. So if God given us a command to preach the gospel to every individual, it’s not because he didn’t send somebody. It’s because they won’t go. They won’t go. There’s people that as you go won’t tell. And regardless of what city they don’t tell. And regardless of the person they just won’t tell. Now, there’s something that got a hold of me. years ago and I can’t make it happen to everybody, but I’m just saying it.
Overall, wherever I go, but as I go, I sow seeds. I just sow seeds. You don’t know where that’s going to grow or not. I wanted that Bible study with that staff, but I couldn’t make it happen. I didn’t know it would happen. This is already on a Friday and they’re going to have it that night, but it worked out. That’s where we could do it. All because I’m just sitting there, minding my own business, watching the waves and reading my Bible and taking some notes and talking to the Lord.
And along comes a little Filipino waitress and starts talking to me. And she wouldn’t quit. But I had about four five of those that I led to the Lord come to the Bible study. And then here comes the boss man after about 20 minutes. And in my mind, she’s in trouble because I thought I’d seen him go by a couple and look at her. But he was eavesdropping on what I was saying. And he liked what I was saying enough that he wanted me to talk to the Bible study.
How many people James is on a ship? 5000? Or, okay, I don’t know how many of them think. Whole bunch. And they all go to eat at the same time. But of all the people that I could have met, did you know that God can take a person that will tell and God can take a person who wants to hear? And do you believe that God in His providence can bring two people together? I believe it. And because I believe it, I’m always expecting it.
Either I go to the MRI, have them end up coming to me, one way or the other. Do you have within you that little desire that you want to explain the gospel to somebody? When we got ready to leave, there’s this young girl that was from Peru and sheulic saw us up on an upper deck and she was running all the way down and down the steps and coming there and she wanted just to hug me for explaining the gospel.
She was so excited. I was walking down the road and this one girl she came by me and she says, oh, oh, and as you walked on by. And I thought, I hope she went to the Bible study. I don’t know. I didn’t know who she was. But I thought she’d look for me, but I couldn’t tell. It was just some strange things that happens. It sure makes your life exciting. There’s nothing like so in seeds, just so seeds.
And let the Lord, God can bring them to you, but if you want to, like, if you had a wife like I have, Yankee, you go talk to this one, talk to that guy, this one over there. And sometimes you’ll say, you’re not doing anything right now. Sometimes I have to think. Sometimes there’s no time to think. That’s why I need another vacation. I didn’t quite get to my notes, but they don’t matter. I enjoy rambling once in a while.
But isn’t God good? And to think that all of this could have happened without me ever been born, look what I’d have missed out on. Has God given you a chance to live? Was it in vain? Did you know to live for yourself is one of the worst things you can ever do? live for the Lord. And it’ll give so much meaning and purpose to your life, you just won’t be able to handle it. Let me show you something.
Have y’all noticed that it got me another wallet? That other one was, y’all just weren’t that big a sinner, so I had to go to a smaller wallet. The other wallet was just too big. This hand represents you and me. This wallet represents all of our sins, all of them. And the Bible says that all of us have sinned. And because we’ve all sinned, we’re all condemned. Because the wages of sin is death. Eternal separation from God, since everybody sends everybody’s condemned.
God says that He wants us to go to heaven and to go to heaven we have to be perfect as righteous as God. And none of us are perfect. None of us are righteous. The Bible says that we cannot save ourselves. We cannot earn our way to heaven by our good deeds. So you need to understand the principle of all of these things. You don’t have to sit exactly the the same way. It’s good if you can do it in the same sequence because it helps a person to follow your line of thinking and that you can’t save yourself by any good deeds that you can do.
This hand represents Jesus Christ, he’s the Lord God in the flesh. He came into the world because he loves us. He hates our sin because our sin separates us from the Lord. So Jesus Christ took all the sin, paid for it on the cross and came back from the Now, that doesn’t mean everybody going to heaven. It means that the payment for our sin has been made. But you have to believe he did it for you. So there’s a God in heaven that knows whether you believe it or not.
And you can deceive me. They can lie to these people that go out on Friday night so when they can lie to them on Friday night in the Reformers’ unanimous. They can lie to them in Yawanna. Everybody can lie. But there’s one you can’t lie to. That’s God. So God says that He will give eternal life to those that believe it, that kind of trust Him as the one that made their payment for their sins. And when they believe it, then God says He gives them as a free gift of everlasting life.
And if He gives you everlasting life, and it lasts forever. And all you sins are paid. Where would you go when you die? This one girl, she asked me. That one little Filipino girl that said, one of the question, she says, but what if you do something wrong tomorrow? I says, it’s paid. She says, yeah, but what if, what if you commit suicide? What if you commit suicide? I saw, is that a sin? She says, yes. Paid, paid. I says, when he died, he paid for all of our sins, all that we have to do is accept the payment he made for us.
Now, I’m not advocating all of your go out here and commit suicide. If you did it, you did it because you were stupid, not because I told you to do it. I’m just telling that when you trust Christ as your Savior, He gives you eternal life and He’ll never take it away and never cast you out and never lose you. And you can know that you’re going to have Him because of what Christ did on the cross for you.
Let’s pray, shall we? Father, we thank You so much for all that You’ve done for us. We’re thankful for the privilege that we have to kind of sow some seeds here and there. That or wherever we go and whatever we do that we talk about you. And Father, we don’t witness to everybody we should, we know that. But we’re thankful for the opportunity you’ve given us. Some we take advantage of. Some will never see the results of some of our labor, of some of the seeds that we sow.
But we ask your blessings upon the fruitfulness of your word that will not return to you void. In Christ and we pray, Amen.
