We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ, and that today’s concluding message of this teaching will be a blessing to you and your family.
You can’t promise, God, how you’re going to live for the rest of your life. You don’t have the power to fulfill your promise promise. I won’t do anything wrong. I’ll do my best. You will not. You will not do your best. No man does his best. You’d like to think so and believe so when you do your best. You mean you couldn’t done a little bit better. And who’s the judge? Whether you gave it all you had did your best.
You? And God says even if you gave you’re all and gave it your best, committed every second of your life to Christ. That’s not how you’re saved. If you could save yourself by your work, why did Christ die? He died in vain for no reason. Now look what he says here in verse 21, but now the righteousness of God without the law, without trying to keep the law, without trying to earn your salvation, without going to church, without giving money, without committing your life, without changing anything, without turning from sin, without promising, no, without that.
Looking verse 28, therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without any additional, without any supplemental. I got that word from health insurance. Aren’t you glad it finally came in and it’s free to everybody? Just like it was promised. I’m glad God doesn’t give us an empty box. We’ve been sold a bill of goods. You open up the box and nothing in it. But Christ says, I’ll give you the free gift of eternal life, the gift of eternal life, and by faith alone in what Christ did on the cross for us.
So when He says, without the deeds of the law, it means without me promising to stop something or join anything or start anything or committing my life to Christ. It’s wonderful and all that stuff. Don’t you believe a man out of committed’s life to Christ? Yes, but not to be saved. Don’t you think a person ought to go to church and give a minute? Well, of course, but not to be saved. Some people just don’t get it. It’s free.
I wonder what part of free don’t they understand. Now look what he says here in verse 22. The righteousness of God, which is, which is, it’s not by the law, it’s not by you earning it, faith of Jesus Christ. He didn’t prove all have sinned. The whole world is guilty. No man can save himself. All have come short of God’s perfection, but his righteousness is unto most of them. The all, but it’s only upon, on, then that believe.
So if you do not believe, you do not have God’s righteousness. You don’t collect $200. You don’t go pass, go. You don’t go. It’s unto all but it’s only upon those that believe by faith alone You add any works to the gospel you are not saved according to the Bible You’re trusting in your good works and that’s why if you want to find out whether or not you really believe take all of your good works away and Live like the devil in your mind.
Just say if I live like the devil would you still go to heaven? I put it to a person this way one time because he wanted to get really smart and I thought I’m just as smart as he is. I said well let me ask you a question. Can a… Practicing homosexual, trust crisis saviour, and not change his ways, not stop anything, die in the very act and go to heaven. And I’ll have majority of people say, ain’t no way that man’s going to heaven.
I said if he did get to heaven it would be grace, wouldn’t it? Would it? If you say no, you don’t get it. If in your mind you say, no, no, no, no, you don’t get it yet. You’re still struggling. You don’t get it. He says, well, he doesn’t deserve it. Nobody deserves it. The man with a three-piece suit. Ooh, it’s okay. I’ve only got a two-piece suit. That stands in the church and he reads the Bible and he prays and doesn’t know the thing.
If he hasn’t trusted Christ to save you, he’ll burn in hell. It doesn’t matter who he is. And it doesn’t matter how bad people have been. That’s what’s so difficult for people to understand. Well, we know we’ve heard it all our life. Good people go to heaven. Bad people don’t. Okay? Who’s the good ones? There is none good. No, not one. If God had to say, but one, I knew that would have been me. And if he just says, you know, we’re all righteous except one, I would wonder, I wonder if that’s me.
But he says all, but he will save any and all. This is why it’s so important. Look there now in verse 24, being justified, justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. That word redemption means that he paid for my sins. And now look there in verse 25, because there’s a word here that I want to bring to your attention. In verse 25, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, propitiation.
It’s a big word, but it just simply means that sacrifice. Christ was the sacrifice. In the Old Testament, they would take the blood and it’s sprinkle upon the mercy seat. Well, Christ, His blood was taken into heaven and sprinkle upon the mercy seat. But His is incorruptible blood. It never has to be done again. And He was the satisfaction. See, in the Old Testament, they’d sprinkled the blood of bulls and goats and so forth, but it never pleased God.
It appeased His anger, but it didn’t please God. God wasn’t pleased with that sacrifice, but that was only to cover the sin, not to take it away. When Christ came, took the sin away. And because He takes the sin away, see, His is different. It lasts forever. They had to do it every year. And not only for the high priest to enter into that holy of holy, He had to do it for Himself. And then for the people and fear and trembling.
So there’s another statement there I want you to look at. You see the last part of that verse through faith in His blood. Faith in His blood. You see, the Bible says in Leviticus 1711, for the life of the flesh is in the blood. And I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your sin, for the life of the flesh is in the blood. When Christ shed His blood, He gave His life willingly.
It means and shows you that they didn’t take it from him. He gave it and he’s the one that says, he has the power to lay it down his life and the power to take it up again, which he did. So faith in his blood. Now get what he says in verse 25. To declare his righteousness for the remission of sins. You see, when we talk about believing on Jesus Christ, this is the gospel message. When you talk about the cross of Christ, the blood of Christ that He shed for our sins.
This is why He says there in verse 24, being justified freely by His grace because of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, because He shed His blood for us and God was satisfied with the payment and therefore you and I get to go free. We don’t have to pay for one of our sins. We ought to pay for them, but I don’t have to. Look at the next statement. And verse 26, she means the last part of verse 25 says, for the remission of sins that were passed.
I believe it’s a reference mainly to the Old Testament, all those sins. But now Now he says also this side of the cross to declare I say at this time his righteousness. His righteousness, that he might be just. So the only way you and I could be just is to have his righteousness and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. So God has to be just when he justifies us. And that means that he had to keep the law and die to pay for the sins because of the law in order to redeem us from the curse of the law.
Because he says, no man can be saved by the law. So he had to redeem us from the law, because the law cannot save us. The Scriptures is clear. It’s just sometimes people don’t see it that way. Turn in your Bible to the work of 1 John chapter two. 1 John and chapter two. 1 John chapter two, and look in verse one. He says, my little children, these things right eye unto you. That you sin not. And any fanny man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.
Does God want us to live in sin? No, but do we have an old sinful nature? Yes, we do. And in verse 10 of the previous chapter, if we say we have no sin, he says you’re lying, because you do have a sinful nature. But it’s not God’s will for us to live in sin, to walk in sin. But when we do, we have a lawyer, an advocate. He’s better than Perry Mason. This one never loses a case for real.
And then he says in verse 2, and he is the propitiate, the satisfaction for our sins. In other words, referring back, the payment Christ made also is sufficient for the sins after we’re saved. This is why it’s so important. So he says there in verse two, He is the propitiation for our sins, the believers, but not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And there’s some people that don’t believe that Jesus died for everybody.
They’re called Calvinists and they are wrong. It is a wicked teaching. I despise it. Look there in your Bible to 1 Peter chapter 1. You’re real closer to this year, but look there in 1 Peter, in chapter 1. Look in verse 18. 1 Peter 1 verse 18, for as much as you know that you were not redeemed by your commitment to Christ, by your good works, by anything corruptible that you might do, by turning from your sin, by you promising God how you’re going to live, had nothing to do with it.
You were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold, money that you gave, from your vain behavior, conversation received by tradition from your fathers. In other words, your vain behavior, that word conversation. In other words, you were not redeemed. You You were not saved because of money you gave or the way you lived by your manner of life. No man has ever been saved because of how he lived. If you ever heard so much, well I know that Elohant Susie went to heaven, she’d give you the shirt off her back.
If anybody makes it, surely she will. Well if dear old Ann Susie didn’t trust the Lord, no she won’t. I don’t care if she’s your aunt, I have an aunt Susie, but I led her to the Lord. I really did. I had an ant grace. And I let her to the Lord. I just think somebody named Grace ought to go to heaven. But she has to trust the Lord. Everyone has to trust Christ. There is no option to. There was no option to or three or four.
There’s only one way. Christ says, I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto unto the Father, but by me. There is no other name given under heaven among men whereby we must be saved. you’re saved because of a person, Christ. Otherwise, if you can be saved by your works, you don’t need Him, and everybody can save themselves. But since there’s only one Savior, evidently nobody has ever saved themselves. If you’re saved by your good works and you perform the good works, you saved yourself.
Find the chapter and verse that authorizes that. There isn’t any. But look what he says here. in verse 19, but with the precious blood of Christ. That’s how you and I were redeemed. Redeem means somebody had to pay my sin debt. I had a debt and I didn’t wanna pay it. He paid it for me. So I was redeemed by that payment that Christ made for me. It is the responsibility of individuals to accept that payment Christ made for their sins.
Who was the payment? Christ was the payment. It was his life, his blood that was shed. He did it for me. So he says here in verse 19, but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot number. Jesus was perfect, He had no sin. Look in Revelation chapter 1, Revelation in chapter 1, Revelation chapter 1, and look there in verse 4. Verse 4, John to the seven churches which are in Asia says, grace be unto you and peace from Him which is and which was and which is to come.
And from the seven spirits which are before his throne and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. Somebody loved us, washed us from our own sins, and you didn’t do it, and I didn’t do it. It is ludicrous for anybody, and extreme arrogance, for anybody to think that they’re changed life, added anything to what he did on the cross for us.
It’s trying to delete the power of the gospel, to delete the power of salvation when you dilute that message by adding something to it. In its perfect form, it’s the most powerful thing on earth. That’s why the Bible calls about it is the power of God, it is the dynamite of God. And who in the world would wanna try to add something to the finished work, the finished work? If it wasn’t sufficient, he wasn’t finished.
He didn’t finish it if he didn’t finish it. But he says, it is finished. And I believe that. Looking verse five of you. Where he says unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. And so he talks about the precious blood of Christ. We’re talking about that precious lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. So when you believe on Christ, it’s just like you took a bat and were totally washed of all of your sins as though you have never sinned.
Never done anything wrong. All guilt removed. Did you know if you understand that, that ought to take a load of iron off your shoulders? You mean all of those bad things that I’ve done? Forgiven. You mean I don’t have to walk around feeling guilty and all you did it and you remember it and you can’t forget it, but God’s forgiven you. Forgive yourself. If God forgives you, you forgive you. And no matter if anybody else does or not, because sometimes you can’t change people’s mind.
But it will sure do an awful lot for your peace of mind and your joy. So don’t walk around with your head hung low, walling in the mud for the rest of your life. We’re all sinners. We’ve all come short of God’s perfection. And every man gets saved the same way. Look in Hebrews chapter 13. Hebrews chapter 13, just turn to your left there just a little bit. Dr. Mark Cameron used to always quote just when he prayed. Every time when he closed this class, he would always pray this prayer.
Always start up. Now the God of peace. See there in verse 20. Now the God of peace that brought again from the dead, our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant. You see, God made a deal. He would justify the heathen by faith. He says, you give me your faith and I will give you the free gift of everlasting life. That’s all you have to do is believe that when Christ died, He died from your sins.
Therefore, I have no sins to pay for it. And this is what makes it so precious. Otherwise, If you have to be saved because you committed your life and you’ve got to live a certain way and earn it and pay back and all the rest of it, then his blood wasn’t precious. His death had no meaning to it. And we are of all men most miserable because there is no such thing as salvation in any other. He did what he did because it’s the only way.
Through the blood of the everlasting covenant, turn in Hebrews chapter 9, Hebrews in chapter 9. Look there in verse 12, Hebrews chapter 9 and verse 12. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood. He entered in once into the holy place having obtained eternal redemption for us. He took His own blood into the holy place and offered up His own blood in order to get us eternal redemption. It means it never has to be done again.
He entered once. See that word? Once you had highlighted in your Bible there, it’s a special thing. Circle it, draw it back to it, do whatever. It means He only had to do it one time. He’s not coming down next year to die for our sins, that we’d done since we’ve been saved, He paid for them before we were saved. He did it before I was born. He did it 2,000 years ago when He died on the cross. When He was on the cross, I was on His mind.
You ever heard that song? Don’t you get that song done and sing it? You ever heard it? Sing it again. You can sing it again. You can sing it every week. I love that song. I was down there with Lee Patton preaching for him and they had this year of woman, Nick out of her and saying, I think she was from Hawaii or something like it. She got there and she sung that song and all of a man did a tear swelive and when he was thinking, he was thinking, he wasn’t thinking about nobody but me.
Well, he might have thought about you, but he was really thinking about me. Looking down through 2000 years and just as that Yankee fella came down there, I might have to make a payment. He got a lot of sins. for all of my sins. Boy, that’s good news. It really is. Look at verse 22. Verse 22 says, and almost all things are by the law purged with blood. Without shedding a blood, your sins are not taken away. They’re not taken away because of how you live, by going to church, by giving money.
All those things might be nice. Paying your debts. All those wonderful good things. But none of them will take away one sin, only the death of Christ. He paid for my sins. Well, if He paid for all of my sins, understand, then there’s none for me to pay for it. But that payment He made is not accounted to me, put to my account until I believe He did it for me. So when you believe it, you have a payment for all of your sins, the best news in all the world.
Take your Bible and turn to the book of 1 Corinthians in chapter 11. 1 Corinthians chapter 11. And you’ll notice verse here in verse 25 where he says, and after the same manner also he took the cup and when he had stopped saying this cup is the New Testament the everlasting covenant in my blood. That’s why we have the free gift of everlasting life not because we deserve it. None of that’s true. Not because we earned it. We’re not trying to pay him back.
We’re not making installments. No, it’s free. His blood paid for my sins. We have been washed clean because of the payment Christ made on the cross for us in the book of Revelation in chapter 1 verse 5. Remember those verses? Let me show you something. This hand represents you and me, the wallet represent sin. The Bible says we all have sin on us. And the Bible says that God loves us, but He hates our sin. And the reason is because you see sin separates us from God.
And the wages of sin is death, eternal separation from God in hell. But God says to go to heaven, you have to be perfect as righteous as God. And everybody has come short of God’s perfection. Nobody can even come close. So no man has ever been saved by his good deeds, by his works. Therefore we need a Savior, because we can’t save ourselves. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh. He came into the world because He loves us, but He hates our sin because our sin separates us from Him.
So what Christ did, for one, He had to do for all. You see, he’s not a respecter of person. He can’t pick out a few people and pay for their sins without a reason. And he can’t be just in doing that. Because he, everybody’s in the same boat. We’re all sinners. So if Christ dies for one person, he has to die for every person. So he took all the sin of all the world paid for on the cross. And he came back again from the dead.
And he, if he’s going to offer anybody salvation, even to one, he has to offer it to everybody, to everyone. And so all who believe are justified from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. You’re justified by your faith. You believe that when Christ died, He died to pay for your sins. And when you believe it, He puts this payment to your account. You get to go to heaven on what He did for you. That’s the best news in all the world.
And I pray that you have accepted Christ and Him alone as your only hope of going to heaven. Let’s pray, shall we? With heads by nice clothes and no one looking around. If you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, would you trust Him right now? You may have heard about it and thought that you were saved. Maybe you thought, if I commit my life to Christ, if I promise, if I stop, if I do this, not the other, the friend, there’s a lot of people that do that and they do it sincerely.
They do it innocently. They’ve heard a lot of people say things. And I think that’s what you have to do. And maybe you’ve done just that. But friend, this is serious. Have you really? Have you really trusted Christ as your Savior? Is there a time when you can kind of remember that you made that decision say yes, I did it. I trusted the Lord But friend if you’re not sure if you’ve never done it Would you right now just between you and the Lord say something simple like this Lord?
I’m a sinner and I believe Christ and died and paid for my sins and I’m gonna trust him right now as my Savior I’m not going to have you forward, not going to embarrass you, or right where you’re sitting. I want to ask you in just a moment to raise your hand. Raising your hand doesn’t save you. It just lets me know that what I said made sense to you. And you’re sitting preaching that made sense to me. And I’m going to trust Christ as my Savior right now.
I’m going to sleep in it very quickly and put it right back down. Is anyone at all? Anyone at all? You know what it’s all? If you have trust in Christ as you’re saving your God’s child, and it’s only because of what Christ has done for you. He loves us that much. Our Father, we thank you for this time together, for your blessings. And we pray, Lord, now you’re home. Will to be done as each person here takes just a moment and examines their own life.
And Father, first things in their life that should be confessed to you, that they would own up to it, admit it, and say, Lord, I’ve sinned, and I know that you’ll forgive because the payment’s been made. But you love each one of us. Help us to remember the things that you’ve done for us in Christ’s new place.
