So now I want you to take your Bible turn to the Gospel of John, the Gospel of John chapter 1. Gospel of John in chapter 1. We know that there’s God and there’s God the Sun. And you’ll notice that in John chapter 1 verse 1 in the beginning was the what? The word. Now let’s appear. At the end of this book he says these things are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God and that by believing you may have life through his name.

By believing you may have life through his name. So by believing you have eternal life. So evidently the following in that verse and believing has to mean exactly the same thing. It means you heard his voice and you followed what the voice said. What did the voice tell you to do? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you would have eternal life. And that’s how you become a sheep, one of God’s sheep. Is did you or did you not?

Here’s what he said. Did you follow the voice? What did he say to do to become his child? So you look here in John chapter one, in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God And then he makes a statement here about him being the word. See there in verse 14, the word, the voice was made flesh. He was the voice of God. He came into this world and revealed the invisible God, God in the flesh.

Remember what they did when they asked John the Baptist, who are you? Are you one of those, the prophets, Isaiah or Jeremiah or what are you? He said, I’m just the voice of one crying in the wilderness. See there, when it makes that statement in verse 23, see there in verse 23? He said, I am the voice of one crying in them. Now, whenever you study, you look at the context and if you study the context of chapter 10, you get an understanding of what it means for a sheep and a shepherd.

Then he’s talking about, I’m the shepherd and I want you to hear my voice. Follow what I’m saying. Did you hear what I said? I had my mother one time. She told me she told me to do something and I did not move. And then she said it like this. Did you hear me? Well, why would she say that? Do you think she really meant that I really hear her? Or because I didn’t do what the voice said do?

I evidently must not have heard her, because she knew that if I heard I would have done it. Mother made a great mistake. No, I was just sometimes rebellious. But anyway, you don’t always listen to what the voice said to. Here’s the invisible God. He comes into this world. He’s the voice of God. And he says, if any man here, what I have to say, listen to what I’m saying and to believe it, you can have as a free gift ever lasting life, the best news in all the world.

Now also once you take your Bible and look there in chapter 1 and look in verse 11. And verse 11 says, he came unto his own, his own received him not, but as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Here, over and over in this book, you receive the gift of eternal life, you become his child born into his family just by believing. If that’s all you have to, you can’t change it later.

He can’t change it later to something else. So when he’s talking about you receiving this gift of eternal life, that’s the best news in all the world. Now he had words that he had to say to a guy like Nicodemus because it says in a ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus by night, said to him, we know that thou art a teacher come from God, for no man can do these miracles that thou do, say God be with him.

And Jesus, I’m so impressed. You’re good to go. No. He says, you must be born again. And I believe John 3 16 was his explanation on how to have this new birth, John 3 16. Now look there in chapter 4 and look in verse 41. Now we know the story that happens here in chapter 4 because it’s talking about a woman at the well. And he simply told her, he says, if thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that says to me to give me to drink, thou would have of ask of him, and he would have given the living water.

She was listening to what he said. She says, evermore give me this water. Give me this water. She heard what he said. She believed what he said. She says, give me this water. Anyway, she goes and runs into the city and she tells all the men. I don’t know why she didn’t tell the women but she told the men and the men came running. And says down here in verse 41, Many more believed because of his own, and you ought to underline that word.

They heard the word. They heard what he said and believed it. And you become a sheep because you heard the word. Now some people here, but don’t believe it. He says, you’re not my sheep. You’re my sheep if you hear my word. And you obey what my word told you to do. told you to do. My word says, believe on me. Trust me, accept me. And those that did were saved and those that did not, did not look in verse 42.

And said unto the woman, now we believe, not because of by saying what she said, for we have heard, heard him ourselves and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world. So they, they heard him themselves and believed. So the gospel of John is the context where you find John chapter 10. So when you want to understand something you just stand a little bit and you want to better understand a little bit more. You want to understand John even more?

We’ll explain some more going to all the other books. You want to understand the book, does the New Testament better just spend it into the Old Testament. And by the time you get through, you know the whole book, you’ll have a pretty good idea of the context of what God’s talking about. And it will make sense, and it cannot contradict itself. Take a Bible, look in John chapter 5. John chapter 5 and look in verse 24, verse 24. Barely, barely, I say unto you, he that goes to Calvary Community Church gives 50% I wish it said that, that it doesn’t say that.

He that get this, heareth my what? My word and believe it. Hear my word and believe. So the word has to be something that they had to understand. They had to understand what they were to believe. So there’s a message there in the Gospel. So we explain the Gospel and if you believe it, You followed the voice. You did what the word says do, and you have as a free gift ever last year. Look what he says in verse 25.

Verily, verily I say unto you, the hour is coming in now is when the dead shall hear his voice. And this is talking about something else. Down in verse 28, marvel not that this hour for this, for the hours coming in which all that are in the grave shall hear his voice. Let’s see if they’re all gonna be resurrected. But see, there’ll be about a thousand years different between these two resurrects, but it’s going to happen. But it’s talking about a resurrection here.

It’s not talking about the same thing. It’s talking in chapter 10. So you have to hear the voice. Now, look in chapter six, chapter six. You’ll notice in verse 60 of chapter six says, many therefore of his disciples, when they heard this, said, this is a hard saying, who can hear it? In other words, He had just finished talking to them about, I am the bread of life. I’m that living bread that came down, and He that eats this bread, and then He really blew them out of the water.

He says, you have to eat my flesh. And drank my blood. What? He didn’t really want him to eat his flesh and drink his blood. He was telling them something and explaining something to them. And they didn’t get it. So they got offended. So in verse 61, when Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured it, he said to them, Duff, this offends you? You’re offended? They couldn’t believe it. couldn’t believe it. So he says here in verse 63, it is the spirit that quickness makes you alive.

The flesh prophet if nothing though and here’s that word you ought to underline it. The words that I speak unto you they are spirit and they are life. If you hear the words that I’m saying it’s just like you eating flesh that is incorruptible and blood that is incorruptible and it will give you eternal life but you don’t have to do that. Listen to the words that I’m telling you. I am that living bread that came down from heaven.

He says, you ate bread and your fathers ate bread in the wilderness. They ate the manatee. He said, but they’re dead. But he that eats this bread shall live forever and never hunger. He told the woman at the well, you drink of this water and you’ll never thirst again. He taught eternal security all the time, eternal security. And it was always by simple faith and faith alone in the Lord. So looking verse 64, I believe this also bears record.

But there are some of you, there are some of you that believe what? believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who would betray Him. Therefore He said unto them that no man can come unto the Father except we’re given Him and my Father. Whenever we preach the Word those that will believe the Word God saves and the Bible says God is going to give them to the Son. That’s why he says that he will never cast you out and never lose you.

Never cast you out. God’s going to give us to the Son. We are like a gift to him for what he did for the Father. There’s another message there but we won’t go there right now. So you have here something I believe is a wonderful, wonderful thing to see and understand. Look in John chapter 20, John chapter 20. And look in verse 30. So that you understand the reason for this and many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples which are not written in this book.

But these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life through his name. Now, go back to John chapter 10. John chapter 10. And notice what he says in verse 28. I believe in verse 27, he says, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me, they follow the voice. They obey the voice. What does the voice say? Believe on him. In verse 28, he says, and I give unto them what kind of life?

I give them eternal life. That’s compatible with all the other Scriptures we read in the Gospel of John. I give them to them eternal life. They shout never perish. That means in the future. That means tomorrow. The next day in the future I can never perish. So in reality it’s not talking about that I have got to follow in all the years of my life while ever God’s laid down and I’m supposed to do all these good things now for the rest of my life.

No, because if I don’t follow, it can’t annul this verse. It cannot annul this promise. They shall never perish. It means you cannot go to hell in the future. It means I can’t go to hell today. I can’t go to hell tomorrow. I can never go to hell because I have eternal life. He said, He would never cast me out and never lose me. And He says, and no man can pluck you out of my father’s hand. I’ve used this before but very quickly.

Here’s God and here’s me. I thought I had to hang on to God and if I hang on to God I’m going to heaven but I got to hang on until I die. But in between now and that time that I die I might slip away. Now I’m going to hell. Now I got you saved again. Now I’m going to hell, and I’m going to save you. And so you ask, where are you going to do that? Well, I’m not real sure.

Because he depends upon them. The Bible says, if I trust him, he saves me. See, this way, he is God is in my hands. This way, I am in God’s hands. I assure you, this is a lot better. This means that he said he’ll never cast me. I’m not sure. He said, He will never lose me. He says, No man, you or anybody can pluck you out of His hand. So once I trusted Him as my Savior, it’s His job that take me to heaven, not mine.

Doesn’t depend upon anything that I do. Nothing that I do, no amount of however I choose to live, can ever change this. But I found out that it’s a lot easier and more enjoyable for me as his sheep to follow my shepherd. So I decided based upon studying the Word, I heard he had a lot of things to say about a lot of things. And so I obeyed his voice in trusting Christ as my Savior. Then I decided I’m going to obey his voice on how to live my life.

So as I begin to read the Word of God and the reason I went to Bible college is to study the Word so that I could obey his voice. So I began to read in the study and I wanted to show you this to you and I’ll just look at it. Look at your last page, the last page and there’s a few verses that I wrote down here and that little illustration I even have that in you’re about holding on to the hand of God and so on.

In number seven, regarding service, follow the voice. If you want to know what to do with your life, whether you’re single, whether you’re married, whether you have kids or you don’t, when you have a job you don’t have a job. You’re hurting, you’re not hurting. Health-wise, there isn’t anything you can face in life that God hasn’t voiced his word concerning, how you’d respond. So if you want to know truth, study the word. So there’s a lot more than just trusting Christ’s Savior and going to heaven.

He said a lot of things about a lot of other things in life. So if you will listen to what he has to say obey his voice in other areas of your life. You’d be surprised. He can walk you through anything. There isn’t anything too great God has a voice his opinion on. He is the great shepherd. You see, there was the good shepherd and there is the chief shepherd, but he is also a great shepherd, which means in this present time in which we live.

Can you say the Lord is my shepherd? I shall not want. Want for what if he’s your shepherd? Whatever it is, you know that your shepherd is going to provide and he’s going to lead you and he’s going to guide you beside the still waters. All these things for the rest of your soul so you can have a peace of mind. The world may be in total chaos, turbulent times in which we live and yet at the same time you can be an epitome of peace that nothing bothers you because you’ve committed everything to the Lord and you’re not worried about anything because you trust your shepherd to lead you, to guide you, to defend you, protect you.

And one of these days the chief shepherd shall appear. And when he shall appear, we are going to live up on this earth for a thousand years and a beautiful paradise. Can’t wait. Sounds good to me. Number seven concerning service. Always keep salvation, service, separate. Matthew 4 and 19, and he said unto them, follow me and I will make you fishers of men. If you follow him, do what he says, the way he says, do it. Then God says, I’ll teach you how to be a fisher of men you can catch fish.

You see but if I believe that you got to get a person to follow the Lord in the sense that you’ve got to change your life and you got to stop all your sins and promise to be good you know that’s gonna take a while. You realize how long it would take to get everybody squared up on everything they got to do and then you got to find out okay what are all your sins? Well you got to stop that one.

No that was not fight is bad, but this is really bad. And are you willing to quit all those bad things? Thank you. And most people said, well, I didn’t try the thousand times. I’m not trying again. I’m so glad I don’t have to get into all that with them. Well, now, will you promise that you’re going to go to church and live for the Lord and you’re going to study your Bible and you’re going to pray and give 50% to the Calvary?

I’m going to put that in. But you see, I’m so glad it don’t take me long to give the gospel because I just tell them what they have to do to be saved. I don’t tell them how they’re going to live their life after they’re saved. I would rather a person go to heaven and diapers than not at all. And so when you’re not clear on the gospel, you don’t know what to tell them to do. But it’s so easy when you say, look, isn’t it true you’ve heard all your lives that Christ died on that cross and paid for all the sins of the world?

Well, you have heard that. Well, if he paid for all the sins of the world, why should you and me have to go to hell and pay for our sins? If he paid for our sins. He’d be surprised how many people that stumps. It just stumps them. And then I’d show them. All he wanted you to do is know how much he loved you. And he loved you so much he would rather die than live without you. I said he died to pay for your sins.

And he paid for all of them. And all he wanted you to do is believe he did it for you. I said, can you handle that? I told her later that the other day. another place. She said, I can handle that. I can handle that. And so then I asked, I said, where are you going to go into heaven? So when you start off and you say, where are you going to die? I’m going to hell. I don’t know.

And then when you finish and they know they’re going to heaven and know why, something happened. They heard something. They heard this voice. It made sense. It’s really free. Best news in all the world. Look at this last verse on this page. This is important, very important. He says here in John chapter 12 verse 23 and 27, and Jesus answered them saying, The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily I say unto you, Except the corn of wheat fallen to the ground and died it abideth alone.

But if it died, it’d bring the forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it. And he that hated his life in this world shall keep it on the life eternal. If any man served me, so when you see the word serve, that’s probably talking about service. What do you think? Isn’t that a good giveaway? Wouldn’t that be a clue? Let him what? Follow me. But see, you’re talking here about service. One thing’s talking about salvation, one talking about service.

And he says, and where I am there shall also my servant be, if any man served me, him will my father honor. So I know that if I want God to honor me, and I would like to have some praise, honor and glory, from pleasing God, I want to serve the Lord because I love him. I appreciate all that he’s done for me. I appreciate everything he’s given to me. So if I want that, then he says, if you will serve me, him will my Father honor.

Nobody can make you serve God. Nobody can make you trust the Lord. But you heard and you believed it and you were saved. Now God wants you to hear what he has to say about your life. Did you realize there’s saying God wants you to do with your life? And if you listen to him and obey him, he said, he’d bless you here. And he reward you when you get to heaven. But if you hear his word, but you don’t believe it and don’t do what he wants you to do, then God says you’re going to have to chase him yet.

You’re going to have to discipline you. Maybe even take you home before your time. Your choice. You can have ears to hear or you can be dull of hearing. I don’t want to hear. And that’s why people don’t read the Bible because his voice speaks aloud. So I don’t need to go to church because I have no intentions of doing what he says to anyway. But there’s other people who are hungry for the word of God. They’re hungry for the voice of God.

They want God to speak to them. They want something more. I wish I could make every one of God’s people love His words so much that want to hear His voice every time the church doors are open, there they would be. But you see, it’s up to the individual. When I started hearing the word of God years ago, when I was a teenager, man, it hit the spot. Me and my father-in-law would sit up all night long and he’d talk to me about the Bible because I wasn’t raised around the Bible.

my dad and mama never knew the Bible. They didn’t know the Lord. And here I found out, I got a father-in-law that knows the book. He led me to the Lord. Was I blessed? I was blessed. And church wasn’t enough for me. I had to study it all the time. I couldn’t get it out of my mind. Look up here. This is you and me. This is sin. We all have sin upon it. God loves us, but He hates our sin.

And the Bible says for us to pay for sin to eternal separation from God and hell. But God says to go to heaven, you have to be perfect. It writes us as God. Nobody’s perfect. We’re all sinners. We can’t save ourselves. This is why the Lord says, I love you. I’m going to show you how much I love you. I’m willing to give my life for you.” So this hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh, came into the world.

And this is the sheep of the shepherd that gave his life. So he says, all we like sheep have gone astray. But the Lord has laid upon him the iniquity of us all. You see, Christ took all the sins of the world, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead, and said if we believe he did it for us, he would put this payment to our account. We go to heaven on what he did for us.

You didn’t earn that. You didn’t work for that. That is the gift of God. It’s not of works, lest any man should boast. Let’s pray, shall we? With every head bowed and every eye closed and no one looking around. If you’ve never trusted the Lord, why not right now? For Lord, I believe that when you died, you died for me. I heard what you had to say. You loved me. You sent your son. He paid for my sins. I believe he did it for me.

And right now I am going to accept what you did for me as a payment for my sin. And friend, if you’ll make that decision, God said he would save you and give you eternal life. Never cast you out, never lose you. And if you will trust him, I pray that you do it right now. So it has bow nice clothes. Is there anyone that will say, yes, that made sense to me. I want to know that I have eternal life, know that I’m going to heaven when I die.

And right now, this very moment, I accept Christ as my Savior. Will you trust Him? And if you’re making that decision, would you let me know by an uplifted hand? Just slip it up real quick and put it right back down. I’m not going to have you forward, and I’m not going to embarrass you. And I want it all before we close. You that are watching by internet, right there on your screen, it simply says, yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior.

If you are trusting Christ right now as your Savior, you’ve never done it before, but you’ll do it right now. Would you just let us know? Just click it on. We’d love to hear from you. Our follow we thank you so much for this opportunity you’ve given us to share your word. They help people to see and understand. We pray that because of it will be clear when we explain the gospel to someone else. Help us to be faithful.
