Look there in John 10, John 10, John 10, and in verse 37. They had already accused Jesus of claiming to be God, and guess what? He was. So he says in verse 30, if I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. Don’t believe it. But I must be doing something that nobody else can do, and therefore you ought to believe. I am from the Father. And then he says in verse 38, but if I do, though you believe not me, believe the works that you may know and believe that the Father is in me and I am.
So whatever it is, we are supposed to believe in the work of God. Whatever this work of God is, we’re supposed to believe it because this is said over and over and over again to believe in the work that God has done. Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Acts. The book of Acts just to your right chapter 13. The book of Acts in chapter 13. And you’ll notice there in verse 41. Notice this verse. Verse 41, Acts chapter 13, verse 41.
This is mentioned in the Old Testament because the verse 40 says, beware, therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets. The prophets prophesied about this. And this is what it says, behold ye despisers and wonder and perish. For I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. What was this work that he did? He did a work and then he tells him up there in verse 38, be it known unto you, therefore men and brethren, that through this man Christ is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins and why can people be forgiven because of the work that Christ did and in verse 13 and by Him all that believe are justified from all things but remember according to book of Romans in chapter 4 you find that he was raised
for our justification. Nobody could be justified if Christ had not been raised again from the dead. So what was this work that he did? Well look at it here. From all things from which you could not be justified by the law of both. So the work that Christ did was in order to justify the center. How can a man that is a center be made just with God? How can he be equal with God? See, God is just. God does no wrong.
Here we are. We’ve all seen come short of the glory of God. So the Bible says being justified is when I can look, I’ve all to I’ve all with God and he finds no fault in me. Now buddy, we’ve come short. So Christ came into the world in order to justify us so that we can be just with God, equal with God in the sense that there’s no fault in us. As righteous as God, perfect. Christ came to make us perfect, to give us a new birth that has no sinful nature so that we can live forever.
God did this work. Man did not help in any way. Therefore it has to be by grace because it was by the work of God that does this. So look what he says here. the book of Acts in chapter 13. Here in verse 29, and when they had fulfilled all that was written of Him, Christ, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a seperchah. . . . . . . . . . And look in verse 30, God raised him from the dead.
He came to do the work that the Father sinned to do, and after He gave His life, then God the Father raised Him from the dead. And get this. And He was seen many days of them which came up from Him, from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses unto the people. And we declare unto you glad tidings how that the promise, which was made of the Father, unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again.”
You see, did he raise him twice? No, he was alive, and then he was dead, and he lives again. And he says, in the second Psalm, Thou art my son. This day have I be gotten the work of the Father. He raised his son from the dead. But the work of the son was to die the death. So there was a plan before God ever made the first man. This is truly the work of God and what God wanted, what God did.
Now look at number three. Why salvation cannot be by works? Because in Romans chapter three and we won’t take the time to look at it. It says it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. If a man is not righteous, how can he bring forth these righteous works? He can’t do it. Romans 3, 23 all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. No man can bring forth good enough works to justify him. Impossible. He’s not capable of doing it.
Man is not capable of living a good enough life. He has to be perfect all his life. And nobody’s like that. Except my grandkids. Isaiah 64, 6 simply makes a statement that all of our righteousness or his filthy rags, we do all fade as a leaf and so on. This is the way we are. All we like sheep have gone astray. And Isaiah 59 talks about our sins have separated us from God, our sins. And man can’t get back to God.
There is nothing he can do. It was what God did. So God had to come down here in the form of a man and live this perfect life. He did this work. And the law could not condemn him because he never broke it. And the devil couldn’t tempt him, and so he wouldn’t fall. And he had no sin for nature, and he never yielded to any temptation. But tempted in all points, like it were yet without sin, he was perfect.
Look at letter B. Heaven is perfect. There is no good heaven or pretty good heaven. There’s only a perfect. 2 Peter 3, 13 says, nevertheless we according to his promise look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelt righteousness. God does this. He’s the one that made this place. He says, be not afraid. You believe in God. Believe also in me. In my father’s house many mansions, if he were not so I would have told you. I go to the first place for you, where I am there you may be also.
In Revelation 21, 27 where it simply says, and there shall of no wise enter into it. Anything that defile of the work of the abomination or make of the lie, but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. So he did that. This new heavens and a new, that’s his work. He did that. You see we’re just entering into his work, but we do not deserth it. We do not earn it. It’s not by our own merit.
Look at the back page, number two, at the top of the page, the righteousness of Christ. He was without sin, then and without sin, now. He never had sin, but he’s coming back one day. The Bible says when he comes back the next time he comes without making a payment for sin because he made it the first time, never has to do again. So he’s not going to come back in the future to pay for my sins that I’ve done since then.
No. When he died the first time, he paid for all the sins of all the world once and for all. Look at that verse. Hebrews 4, 15, just look on your notes there. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but once in all points, tempted like as we are, yet without sin. He never sinned. Hebrews 9, 28, so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin under salvation.
So he’s coming back the next time, but the next time he comes, he’s not coming to make a payment for sin. It’s already done. And Isaiah 59, it talks about the robe of righteousness that God gives to us when we trust him as our Savior, his righteousness, not ours. Look at letter D, the righteousness of God imputed means put to one’s account. So that means if I have to be as righteous as God to go to heaven and I’m not.
So the work that Christ did was so that He could pay for all of my sins and I’m not allowed to get there with my sin because heaven is a righteous place. Christ did a work on the cross paying for the sins of the whole world so that He could take His righteousness and impute it to you. He cannot impute this righteousness to your account Unless you believe that what he did was for you the payment has to be accredited first You must believe it first and he will give to you His righteousness so take your Bible and look there at this verse I want to start there in 2nd Corinthians 5 21 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 21 This is an awesome verse a very good verse But it says, for He hath made Him, Jesus Christ, to be sinned for us, who knew no sin that we might
be made the righteousness of God in Him. Look up here. This hand represents you and me. The wall of represents sin. And this hand represents Jesus Christ. The Bible says, for God hath made Him, Jesus Christ. Now He knew no sin. That you and I, we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. He became sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. So He takes our sins. When you believe it, then this righteousness of God that been provided is given to you.
And you and I get to go to heaven on what He did. It’s His righteousness, not our righteousness. No man gets to heaven on his righteousness, or all of this was null and void. It has no purpose. Christ did this for us. Look at the next verse in Philippians in chapter 3. Philippians chapter 3 and verse 9.
Philippians 3 verse 9 says, and be found in him. Come on, Christ. Not, not having my own righteousness. Look what it says, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law by my own works. What do you mean? But that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by what? By faith. In other words, if by faith I believe that the work Christ did was to save my soul by paying for my sins.
And if I believe that, God will give me his righteousness. So I have his righteousness by my faith in his work. I must believe that the work that he did was to pay for my sins, all of my sins. And that if I trust him, he will save me and give me eternal life. And so 54 years ago, I heard this message for the first time. And I believed it. I went like a baby. I was not in the church.
I was going to live in him. I cried and cried. I, I balled. It really affected me. Now a lot of people, they don’t have any emotions whatsoever, but that night I could not stop. I saw the tears were flowing and it just was the best news I had ever heard in my life. I had mixed emotions, but the first part of it, I’m going to hell and then all of a sudden I’m going to heaven. That was good news.
Take a Bible looking Romans chapter 4. Romans and chapter four. Now these verses right here should knock your socks off. These are awesome verses for you to remember. So in Romans and chapter four look in verse five and verse five. He says, but to him that work it not, get this, that work it not, but believe it. You mean you can go to heaven just by believing And you don’t have to go to church. You don’t have to know.
That’s what he said. Not by your works that work if not you don’t do it. You don’t keep the commandments. You don’t live a holy life. You don’t don’t don’t None zero But believe look what he says He says but to him that work if not but believe it on him that justify the gun godly his faith is counted for righteousness It means that I can go to heaven and I don’t have to change anything in my life. I don’t have to stop any bad work and I don’t have to do any good work.
That is not what’s going to save me. You say, well, don’t you think you ought to… Listen, I’ve trusted Christ as my Savior 54 years ago. And I believe that a child of God ought to live as holy as godly as he possibly can, but not to be saved, not to get to heaven. Have you ever heard me? I recommend all of you go out here and live like the devil. Have you heard me say all people that? No.
Have you heard the preacher tell God here and lie and steal and rob and cheat and murder and rape? Have you heard the preacher say that? Then don’t you ever say I said it, because I’d ever said it. But if you did and you still got to heaven be grace wouldn’t it hey when people make me mad Look what he says now in verse 6 so important Even as David also described the blessings of the man under whom God imputed righteousness Without works without the works.
We said you don’t deserve that. That’s what he’s saying That’s what he means you don’t deserve it. It’s not by your works. I I can’t stand here and say, I’m going to heaven because I’m such a good guy. I’m going to heaven because he’s so good, not because I’m good. I’m not going to heaven because I love God. I’m going to heaven because God loved me. God so loved the world. This is what he did. I’m not going because I love him back.
I don’t have to love God to go to heaven. You say, you mean you would trust Christ that you saved and take that free gift of eternal life? Yes! Because if I don’t, I go to hell. You say, you just wanted fire insurance. That was it. I did not want to go to hell. Guess what? I’m not going. I have eternal. You might as well love me now because you don’t have to be with me for all eternity. Now look at this because this is so important.
In Romans chapter 4, look down there in verse 21. What is faith? Because you have to have faith. The faith was, being fully persuaded that what he had promised he was able to perform. Do you believe that the Lord is able to save you? Do you believe that the work that Christ did was sufficient? He paid for all the sins of the world. Well, faith is having the ability to believe and everybody has faith. But will you place your faith in Christ?
Don’t place it in the church. Don’t place it in your good works. Don’t place it in your wife or your husband or well my granddaddy was a preacher I asked people where are you going to die oh my dad was a preacher oh well what does that do this one guy kid they were talking to my dad’s a banker I get money for nothing he says my dad’s a preacher I get good for nothing look what somebody I’ll never get that and that was a jewel that was right there But now look what he says in verse 22.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him. That means put to his account. Verse 24, but for us also to whom it shall be imputed, his right to, and see those next three little words, if we believe, if we believe. His righteousness will be put to your account. And you and I get to go to heaven on what Christ did the cross for us.
Now look down at number four. Number four says, why salvation must be by grace? Because the Bible says in Ephesians 2, 8, and 9, for by grace are you saved through faith that not of yourself, it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast. If a man could save himself, do you think it’d brag about it? Look what I did. I’ll sing in the choir. I get to preach. I gave a thousand dollars last week.
Took it back. But anyway, you’d be surprised how many people just love the idea of how good they are, how great they are. And God says, you’re a there’s no different, your center. You’ve come short of my perfection. You can’t save yourself. That’s why it’s impossible. But with God, all things are possible. Look at letter B under number four. Titus 3.5 says, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us, not by works that we have done.
But by grace he saved up. So that means your works before, doing or after, cannot touch salvation, can’t add to salvation, doesn’t secure salvation. Secured salvation is only in Christ in the work that he did. Period. Nothing else matters. In Romans 11, 6, which is what I quoted to you while ago, but I got here and bold a little question that I wanted to ask you. Now this of the stickler. Please don’t misunderstand it. I do not recommend. I do not suggest that people, you know, make this a favorite part of your witnessing.
But if you witness enough, somebody’s going to ask you, you mean to tell me that I can trust Christ as my Savior and He’ll give me eternal life and I’ll become His child and I can go out here and live like the devil and still go to heaven when I die. Your answer is very important. Let’s read what we have here. That is a man asked, you mean I can live any way I please and still go to heaven?
Because you told him it was free. He knows if you say no, it’s not free and you lied. Now did you tell him the truth or didn’t you? Did you tell him that eternal life is a gift of God? Did you tell him that you can’t earn eternal life? Did you really tell him that it was free? Did you really tell him that God will never cast you out and never lose, never cast you out and never lose him?
What do you think that means? There’s nothing that you can do. There’s no way that you can live in such a way that could cause God to cast you out or to lose you. Impossible. And if you say, well, yes, well, you know you can’t, don’t be ashamed of this wonderful message. It’s the truth of the gospel that changes people. Understanding that. I can’t go to hell. this has turned my life upside down. The word I want to tell people the truth of the gospel, God loves you that much.
Yes, you can trust Christ as your Savior and live like the devil, and you can still go to heaven when you die. Because see, I already know something. I know that when a person trusts Christ to save you, yes, I’d rather them go to heaven and diapers than not at all. But I know that when they trust the Lord, the Holy Spirit in dwells. And you’d be surprised the work that God can do in the life of a believer.
The best form of follow-up work is not that you have to come 20 times to my church or our church here in order to understand the gospel. Finally, I got it. Hopefully, when you come here, you understand it the first time you come and you understand what you have to do. And the best form of follow-up work is not that I visited you 10 times in your home to follow-up, but when you left, you left with an understanding. I know I’m saved.
I know I’m going to heaven. All my sins are paid. I have eternal life. I’m God’s child. And when you leave and you know that and you understand that, I believe God knows how to raise His children. And some of God’s children turn out fine. And some of God’s children are mean and ugly and rebellious. Might even be something like that today here. But once you trust Him as your Savior, you are His child. but you may be a disobedient child.^^^^ But God says he’s going to have to chase himYP and discipline you.
Maybe even take you home before your time. Down at the bottom of this Christ, number five, the good works of believers is to tell the lost about the work of God. See, we don’t go into all the wrong, tell him about how good we are, or what we’ve done. It’s about the work he did. Did you ever hear the good news about Christ coming to the world? He died on that cross and paid for your sins, and he came back from the dead, and he will save you.
He will give you eternal life. It’s all about what Christ did. You see, when you and I are supposed to be involved in the work of the Lord, the work of the Lord is telling people about the work of God. So can you be involved in the work of the Lord and never trying to get people to believe the work that God came to do? So I’m supposed to be getting people to believe this message. That’s what it’s all about.
This is what makes Rant so important, and the internet important, the Bible studies, and all the things that we do. That’s why it’s so important because we’re talking about the work of God. He did a work. No man could do this work. Man couldn’t save himself. And let me just mention this to you. Communion service is remembering the work of God. the body Christ was born into this world of a virgin and that He lived a perfect life. A body has not prepared me.
And He took all of the sins of the world and bore them in His own body upon the tree. And the grape juice that we say that represents the blood of Christ, He shed His blood, He gave His life. See, this is the work of God. We are remembering the work that God did for us. We look back to what He did, and to the promise that He says, I’m coming again, so that we will not forget. It’s wonderful work that God did in our life.
And believe it or not, you that no Christ is your Savior, he’s still doing a work in your life. He hasn’t forgotten you. He’s doing a work. And he works in strange and mysterious ways, his wonders to perform. He plants his feet upon the sea and rides upon the storm. God’s working. This hand represents you and me. This hand represents Christ. You and me. The Bible says all of us have all sinned. We are all sinners. and they go to heaven, we have to be perfect and none of us are perfect.
And God says to pay for this sin, eternal separation from God. And God says, you can’t save yourself. You need a savior. We cannot save ourselves. So no amount of work that we can do can change our situation. This then represent Christ. God in the flesh came into the world because he loves us, hates our sin because our sin separates us from him. So Christ took the sin, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead. He said, if we would believe that He did it for us, He would put this payment to our account and we get to go to heaven on what He did.
He did the work. Your new birth is not a birth of the flesh. It’s not by the efforts of man, not by the will of man. It’s because you’re born of God by faith and faith alone. When you put your faith in the work that Christ did, then you’re not going to try to earn your way to heaven and trust your works when you know his work was sufficient. It was complete. When he died on the cross, he said these words, it is finished.
You don’t have anything else to do. Let’s pray, shall we? With his bow and eyes closed and no one looking around, I pray that if you’ve never trusted Christ is your Savior that you would do so. If you have never put your faith in the Lord, you’ve never believed in the work that He did. Would you do it right now? In just a moment, I’m going to ask for raise your hand, raise in your hand, doesn’t save you. It just lets me know that what I said made sense to you.
I like to have prayer for you. And I like to include you in my closing prayer. You say, preacher, that made sense to me. I want to know that I have eternal life and know that I’m going to heaven. And right now I will trust Jesus Christ as my Savior. If you’ll do that for him, would you just let me know by slipping your hand up very quickly but right back down. I’m not going to have you forward, not getting embarrassed you.
But right where you’re sitting, say yes, that made sense. And I’ll trust Christ as my Savior, hell and all. You’re there watching by the internet, right there on your screen, says yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior. If you would do that, we’d appreciate it. Just let us know. If you’ve already trust the Lord, you don’t have to do it again. And also on the left and side of the screen, if you like some information, we can help you.
