And he dreamed yet another dream and told it to his brother and said, Behold, I have dreamed yet another dream. Behold, the sun and the moon and the 11 stars made, Obeecence to me bowed to me, and he told it to his father and his brother, and his father rebuked him and said to him, what is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brother and indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

Well, let me ask you a question. Did they? It was years and years later, but they couldn’t see how in the world do you think that’s ever going to happen? That’ll never happen. So a way to keep that from happening is the brothers begin to talk. And when they begin to talk, they thought bad things, said bad things, and we’re going to do something bad. What did they decide to do? Not just sell them, they’re going to do something else before that.

They were going to kill him. Now you imagine they hated him that bad that they were willing to kill, 11 of them, willing to kill Joseph. Joseph. You say what they would have done then. Look down there in verse 11. And his brethren envied him, but his father observed the saying. So now they had gone to get something to, you know, watch in the flocks, different places in the second. So he, Daddy tells his son, he He says, go up there and see how they’re doing.

And so he sent him some stuff there. And he says in verse 14, he said to him, go, I pray they see whether it be well with the brethren and with the flocks and bring me word again. So he sent him, now wait a minute. Does God know where the brothers are? Yeah. Does God know what the brothers are gonna plan on doing to him? Yeah. God lets Jacob tell him to go see his brothers. The, why would God do that?

I mean, God’s letting this happen. Have you ever thought that if you love the Lord and you want to serve the Lord, why does God allow you to go through all that suffering and pain as a result of somebody else’s bad decisions? And you suffer the consequences. The Lord does tell you, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try us. As though some strange thing has happened to you. And then He also makes the statement, it’s better to suffer for well-doing than for wrong-doing.

If at least if you’re going to suffer, let it be because somebody else did you wrong, not because you did wrong. You just got to keep doing what’s right and trust the Lord to bless you. So anyway, when he got there, he didn’t know exactly where they were. And so somebody had to tell them and they said, well, what are you seeking? He said, oh, they went to another place, Dotham. So he goes over there and looking verse 18, and when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

And they said, one to another, behold, this dreamer coming. I preached to sermon years ago, have a dream. That was before Martin Luther King. have a dream and a dream big because God’s a big God. But sometimes God will kind of give you an idea of what He wants you to do. Sometimes He never tells you anything and He just works in your life and brings people in, problems, all kind of stuff. You just keep doing right and trust the Lord to put you where He wants.

To let happens to you. I’ve seen some people, happens to them and they become bitter. They get bitter. Because, look at this, I gotta go through or live with it. I don’t have money, I don’t have this, I don’t have health. Doesn’t God know that? Doesn’t God allow some of these things? Now if it’s decisions you made that were wrong decisions, you can always say, Lord, I was wrong, and would you forgive me? But always be checking your attitude.

Your attitude can do you in, and God can, and you’ll rob yourself of peace and joy and so forth. And you’ll have a… you’ve heard about Jonah. He said when you get down in the dumps, when you get down in the mouth, remember he came out all right, but sometimes you’re gonna get down, down, down. He used to say, you know, where did your long-range take his garbage? To the dump, to the dump, to the dump, to the dump, to the dump, to the best way to stay out of the dump.

Where is he? Well, he’s down in the dumps, but now they’ve conspired let’s kill him. But there was one Reuben. He said let’s don’t kill him. Let’s put him in a pit because he had plans that he’ll come back later and get Joseph out of there. But the thing is that they agreed to do that so they didn’t kill him. But evidently Reuben was doing something else in verse 24 and they took him and cast him into a pit and the pit was empty and there was no water in They sat down to eat bread and they looked it up their eyes and looked and behold a company of Ishmaelites came from Gilead.

Just a coincidence. They were going to kill him. Now if they had killed him, women. God had a plan. God was going to send a man down into Egypt. God said he did it. He sent him down there. But he’s using, look at the circumstances to get it done. And so they put him in a pit. Well, he had died there. So far they didn’t kill him. Now that he’s in a pit, they didn’t kill him. Ishmaelites came by.

Hey, a salam. So they sold him to the Ishmaelites. And they were on their way. So in verse 26 and Jews said unto his brother, what profit it is. If we slay our brother and conceal his blood, come let us sail him to the Ishmaelite and let us not have our hands be upon him For he is our brother and our flesh and his brother and work content. Isn’t that wonderful? This sin is not as bad as the other sin.

You know, they put him in a pit. He would have died naturally. Somebody else had done it, or he had to start to death. But at least they didn’t kill him. So that’s not as bad as actually killing them. So each time it’s well So one sin is not as bad as the other sin. So they have a less sin now. So they’re just gonna sell them. Well isn’t it possible if they could’ve killed him? He could’ve taken them down into Egypt and they could’ve killed him.

And look at all the things that happens to this poor fella. And what great wrong had he, did he deserve to die? Did he deserve this treatment? I don’t think so. But look what had happened to him. So you’ll notice there in verse 28, then they’re passed by a meeting night merchant, and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, sold Joseph to the Ishmaelite for 20 pieces of silver. You know, that sounds a little from me, you know that.

Somebody being sold of their own brethren, sold for a price. You remember a story about Judas, have you ever heard of him before? Who betrayed the Lord and sold him for some silver? Just a coincidence. This is just a story that teaches, it’s a type of Jesus Christ who is betrayed by his brothers and come into his own people. But he’s going to another land and one day we’re going to be taken to another land, Jesus Christ. You can follow stories through the Old Testament and you can see Christ here and Christ there and so forth.

They’re types in which to teach by. So it’s an interesting thing. Later it says in verse 29, and Ruben returned unto the pit, and behold, Joseph was not in the pit. He ran his clothes. So then they had to go and tell Daddy. When they told Daddy, oh, it was Katie Bar the Door. In verse 34, and Jacob rent his clothes and put sackcloth upon his loins and mourn for his son many days. But we know also that he mourned for a long time to come.

Now take your Bible and look in chapter 39. Genesis chapter 39. And you’ll notice now, Joseph was taken down into Egypt. Does God know what’s going on? Of course God has a plan. God is working, protecting and letting him go, but God lets him suffer. Let’s suffer. I mean, to be uprooted from your family and hated who likes to be rejected. Nobody likes to be rejected. And so. Everything seemed to be going wrong. Everything’s going wrong. But was everything going wrong?

No, when you understand the purpose that God has, everything’s on schedule. Just the right time for everything to happen. And God brought those Ishmael I said, takes them down into Egypt. Well, we met God had already told Abraham in chapter 15 that your people are going to go down into another country. country. And they’re going to be there for 400 years. Well, you got to get him there. He told that to Abraham way in advance. Now look what he says in verse 1, Joseph was brought down to Egypt and potter for an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard and Egyptian bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites which had brought him down there.

And the Lord was with Joseph. See that? Go down the line. The Lord was with Joseph. All the way through the Lord was with him. Now how strong he was in his faith, I don’t know. Remember he didn’t have a Bible that he could get and read every day like we got. But he had heard about Jehovah. He knew about God. He knew about the promises that God had made the covenant with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and that he’s going to have a family and all that.

How much he knew? I don’t know about his faith in the the Lord was strong and he kept doing what was right. There was a woman there and she tried to get Joseph to lay with her, to have sex with her. So what did Joseph do? Well, if God’s going to treat me like this, nobody loves me, nobody cares. It doesn’t matter what I do. I might as well go ahead and do whatever I want to do because nothing else matters.

Is that what he said? Is that what he did? Now the Bible says he grabbed his coat and what did he do? He ran. He ran. Just because somebody offers you something doesn’t mean you have to take it. You still got to do right. And well nobody will ever know. It doesn’t matter. God does. So you always do what’s right. So you look down here, where he says, God, yes, was with him, and that the Lord had made that all that he did to prosper in his hand.

And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him, and he made him overseer over his house and all that he had, he put into his hands. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian home, and here’s why, for Joseph’s sake. blessed the man that was over Joseph because of Joseph. Joseph in God’s eyes was more powerful than the man that was over Joseph because Joseph had the Lord.

And God blessed this man because of Joseph and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house and in the field. So everything’s going along fine. He’s been blessed. Everything’s looking good. Verse 7. And he came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph and she said, lie with me. This is the master’s wife. Now you’re talking about somebody going behind their husband’s back. Get verse 8. But he, He refused.

This is in the Bible and this was given to Moses on Mount Sinai as he wrote the first five books and God told him what to write. And God says, now Moses write it in there. He refused. How does Moses know? And God told him he refused. Is there a God in heaven that watches everything we say and do? Did you know that there might be another book? What’s your name in it? With everything you do. Because someday God’s going to reward us for the things that are written in the book.

God keeps the books. Does God know how people treat you? Does you know all about your hurts? about the things you’re going through, the loneliness, the heartaches, the loss, all those things. It was just about a month ago I did a memorial service here for a young boy that was 28 years old and he got killed in a wreck. He was driving a motorcycle and somebody hit him. 28 years old. Do you know I could relate to what that was and I could say a few extra things because my son was brutally murdered when he was 28 years old.

So I could say a few things. And when I gave the invitation, I love about 90 people that were here, probably about 35, indicated they would trust Christ of their Savior. Now my son’s in heaven. Is it possible that certain things can happen in order to get more people to trust the Lord? And God can use it even though that was 23 years ago, 23 years ago, and 91 in January. And so you don’t know how God’s going to work and use things.

We’re supposed to believe that that’s what teaches us patience. I can trust to learn. I can live with it. And some things that happen to you that just breaks your heart and you have this deep solves and there’s times and you go through it and it’s like nobody knows, nobody knows how you feel. God does. God knows. So you look up here and he says, because I can’t do this. Look in verse 9, there is none greater in this house than I.

Neither have He kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God? I’m sending against God. Do you think he knew the Lord? And he didn’t want to sin against God. You know that’s one of the greatest restraints upon your life, even your moral life. Sex outside of marriage. If you’re not married, Right? Sex is wrong. True? You can’t make it right. It’s wrong. That’s why always seek to do what is right.

And if you’re doing something wrong, correct it. Aren’t you glad that God is a God of forgiveness? If he didn’t, none of us could get to heaven. God forgives. God is a God of second chance and third chance and fourth chance and fifth chance and hundredth chance. God is always willing to work with us as children. All we happen to be is just, Lord, I was wrong. I messed up. And God said, I’ll forgive you. And then you can go ahead and do right.

Do right. It’s more fun. I talked to somebody this the other day. I said, it’s more fun doing right than wrong. And the devil will never tell you that that’s true. But it is true. If you’ll do right, you’ll always Be glad you did right. But if you do wrong, you’ll always regret it. Remember that. God’s Word is true. So what happened is that the woman got mad. So in verse 10, it came to pass as she spoke to Joseph day by day that he harkened not unto her to lie by her or to be with her.

He wouldn’t listen to her. day after day, she wouldn’t let him alone. And it came to pass as she did this. And in verse 11, and it came to pass about this time that Joseph went into the house to do his business, and there was none of the men of the house there within. This is why it’s not good to go into a house when it’s just the woman and nobody else is there. I try to teach the college kids this, or when somebody comes and talk to me, I never locked the door.

I try to leave it cracked just a little bit. So that if she needs to get out of that quake, or I need to get out of that quake, we can both get out of that quake. You wanna protect the person and yourself and your ministry. And I say, look, it’s not wise to do some things. Like if I go to somebody’s house and nobody’s there but the woman, wouldn’t it be wise for me to go in? No, it’s not wise.

Why? You don’t have to have anything happen. You just have to have somebody say it did and do the same damage. So should you guard your testimony? Yes. Watch what you say and do. As a guy, guys should never flirt with women. You only get one. That’s your wife. That’s the only one you flirt with. The rest of them are off. Women, should you ever flirt with another man? No. If you got one, that’s the only one you get.

until he’s dead. And don’t go pray and Lord take him home. I’ve met some women like that. I said, boy, I can’t wait till he croaks so I can get me another one. I had somebody ask me one day. He says, I want you to pray for me. I said, why? He said, I want you to pray. I can find that perfect woman. I says, why? He says, well, I want to marry her. I said, I ain’t going to do that.

He said, why? He said, because she was a perfect woman, she’s looking for the perfect husband and you ain’t it. perfect woman ought to have a perfect husband, right? Well since there is nobody perfect. Anyway y’all to get me sidetracked and stay right here. So anyway in this one here look there in verse 12 and she caught him by his garment saying lie with me and he left his garment in her hand and he fled and got him out.

And it came to pass when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and was fled. She called unto the men of the house and spake unto them, say, and see, he had brought in a Hebrew. Now he’s in trouble because he knew he was a Hebrew. Now she’s using the race card unto him to mock us. He came in unto me to lie with me, and I cry with a loud voice. Is she telling the truth?

She’s lying to her teeth. She’s lying. Joseph hadn’t done anything wrong. He did everything right. So if you know, if you do everything right, you know you’re not gonna have to suffer for that, right? Does the Bible say anywhere about those that live Godly shall suffer persecution? Then in the Bible, sure is Timothy. But look what he says. In verse 16, and she laid up his garment by her until her Lord came home, her bought. My husband’s on his way home.

And he knows I’m faithful. Whoa, I’m showing how faithful I am, a little witch. So in verse 18, it came to pass as I lifted up my voice. Now she’s rehearsing it to her husband. That he left his garment with me and fled out. And it came to pass when his master heard the words of his wife, which he spake unto him, saying, after this man or did I serve it to me. And his wrathless kingdom, now he’s mad.

And so now he’s gonna take and put Joseph in prison. All right. Joseph could say, you know, I’m having a bad day. Nothing I do works out right. What did I do to deserve this? Now, you’ve never said things like that, right? You would never say stuff like that. You do say stuff like that. You probably say it and think it more than you think about it. He says in verse 20, and Joseph’s master took him, put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound and he was there in the prison.

Boy, how quickly things can change. Everything’s running long smooth. He’s been blessed. The master’s been blessed. Blessed in the whole house row because of Joseph. Now, all of a sudden, because of all woman’s wagging tongue and sinful desires, Joseph has to pay a price. He says, it’s not fair. All life isn’t fair. And a lot of things that happened to you isn’t fair. That’s why there’s a God in heaven that is the judge, the righteous judge. He will see that things are made right one day when you stand before the Lord.

He is going to reward you for all those things you had to suffer. And you went through. God knows all of it. But look in verse 21, the Lord was with Joseph. What? Well, the Lord’s with you. Why did He let that happen? You’ve never said that, have you? I mean, if the Lord is with me, do you think the Lord is with you only when everything is going smooth? He said, I’ll never leave you and I’ll never forsake you.

The Lord is real. The Lord ought to be more real to you than the clothes that you have on your back. So yes, there’s a lot of things that happens and you you can’t explain it all. But the Lord was there. Looking in verse 23, we’ll close the keeper of the prison. Look not to change anything that was under his hand because the Lord was with him. And that which he did, the Lord made it to prosper. It didn’t matter where he was, he always won.

And if you know the end of it, God sent a man. But look how he had to send him where he had to, and all the things that had to happen to get him where he was. So is God going to allow things to be said about you that may not be true? Yep, all kinds of things. Put your trust in the Lord, keep getting up. Look up here. Letting this hand represent you and me and the wallet represent sin.

We all have sin on us. God says that he loves us. He hates our sin. And for us to pay for it is eternal separation from God. But God loves us. He wants us to go to heaven. But to go to heaven we have to be perfect is right. This has got a none of us are perfect. We’ve all sinned. We’ve all come short of God’s perfection. So God says you cannot earn eternal life. You can’t work your way to heaven.

Bless any man should boast. So God says I’m going to do something for you and I’ll make it free. That sounds pretty good. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He was the Lord. See, he came into the world, lived 33 and a half years, didn’t sin. So he didn’t have to die. But because he loved us, he took our place. He took our sins. He paid 14 back from the dead, said that if you and I, if we would believe he did it for us, he would give us as a free gift everlasting life.

His death for my sins would become my payment. I don’t have to make. So now I have eternal life and I’m going to heaven whenever I die, but I’m not there yet. So the Lord in order to live here gave me his power, the power of his mind, the Holy Spirit to indwell us. And if you will yield yourself to him, he’ll teach you how to live. The Lord can teach you how to live, how to handle every trial, every tribulation, every, Temptation, He can teach you everything you need to know, but you got to let Him.

He will take you through His Word and He will highlight things as you read and study it. And a lot of it, you won’t even get it, it won’t make any sense. You won’t understand it. But all of a sudden there will be a verse that says, this is for you. This is for you. This is all you need right now. And then next time you read it, ah, I didn’t see this before. and they’ll teach you something else.

It is the living Word of God. Let’s pray show you. Every head bowed and every eye closed and no one looking around. If you hear tonight and you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior, you can do that right where you are. You don’t have to stand up. You don’t have to come forward. You don’t even have to raise your hand. All you need to know is, I’m talking to the Lord and God sees and He understands. He knows those who will believe it.

Do you believe it? If you will believe that when Christ died, He died for you. He’ll give you as a free gift everlasting life and you get to go to heaven on what Christ did for you. Would you trust Him? And if He will, God said He would save you. You can know you’re going to heaven. And that’s such a blessing. So it has bought a nice close. And anyone else before we close said, yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior tonight and preach a life to pray for me.

Anyone at all? If you have trusted Christ as your Savior, how are you doing in your spiritual life? Are you growing spiritually? Are you getting stronger and stronger? Did you know that you have within you the Holy Spirit to teach you, to lead you, to guide you? And helping you to do everything he wants you to do. He can walk with you to all of these trials that you have, and we have them. We have a lot of lust on the flesh.

He can give you the strength to desire the right things. Father, we thank you so much for all you’ve done for us. Thank you for your word. We ask you to strengthen us as we need to be. Each one of us are different, but same always, very good. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen. Well, it’s a new month, and that means a new offer to those who support Bibleline.
