Now in verse 25, verse 25 of chapter 8, Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron and said, go ye sacrifice to your God in the land. See there? He finally gives in. No, no, no, no. He just told him you can go and sacrifice in the land. You can’t leave, but you can sacrifice here. That’s a compromise. He’s compromising just a little bit. But Moses would not compromise. He says, when we leave, we’re not leaving anything. So they wanted him to compromise.

And he says in verse 27, we will go three days journey into the wilderness. Sacrifice to the Lord our God as He commanded us. He says, no, we’re going to go three days journey into the wilderness. Well, you can do it right here. He said, no, we’re not. He says, let might people go? Pharaoh didn’t want to look. Look, look, he got all this free labor. They were building his cities, working themselves to death. So he says, no, look in verse 28.

Verse 28, and Pharaoh says, I will let you go that you may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness. See there? I’m going to let you do it. I’ll let you go. And he He says, in the wilderness, but notice, only ye shall not go very far away. In treat for me. In other words, listen to me what I’m saying. I’m giving in a little bit. All right, I’ll let you go into the wilderness so that you can do, but not far, not far.

So this is where compromise comes in. Just compromise just a little bit. And Moses says in verse 29, Moses says, behold, I go out from thee, and I will entreat the Lord that the swarm of flies may depart from Pharaoh from his servants and from his people tomorrow. But let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully anymore. He’s going to do it again anyway. You can’t trust this guy. Can’t trust this guy. Look what he says in verse 31. And the Lord did according to the word of Moses and he removed the swarm of flies from Pharaoh from his servants and from his people, they remain if not how many?

Not one fly. There were swarms. Now there’s not one fly. Not one fly in the whole land. Oh, I love that. I hate it when that got one little fly. If you’re really down in bed and you can hear a mosquito going, and it stops, he’s landed. Are you going to drill for oil any minute now? Have you ever slapped yourself in the middle of the night. You think I got him. Drive you nuts. One little pest in one, but he says it’s not one left in the whole land.

But in verse 32 Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time. Also neither would he let the who wouldn’t do it. He lied, lied over and over again. He kept lying. So look in chapter nine and look there in verse three. Verse three says, Behold, the land of the Lord is upon the cattle, which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels and upon the oxen, and upon the sheep, there he shall be a very grievous, what we call a pestilence, some kind of a disease.

It’s killing them all. And the Lord shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt, and there shall not nothing die of all that is the children of Israel. So Israel is safe. God put a boundary and these died and those didn’t. See, even God believed in quarantine. But look down here in verse 9. Look in verse 9. It says, “…and it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil, breaking forth with blames upon man and upon beast.

Throughout all the land of Egypt, boils all over your body. You ever seen a person with a boil? They could get big and bad. And coming to a head, and I don’t even want to describe it. But they had them all over. And he warned them, says, this is what’s going to happen next. See, God had a sequence. And he says, tell them to let my people go. And if they won’t, this is going to happen. They won’t, this is going to happen.

They didn’t, this is going to happen. And then he warned them. He says, now don’t lie to me anymore. And it gets worse. And it gets worse. And then he begins, yes, okay, I’ll let you do it. And then he lied. He takes them away and then he changes mine again. So God is a God of first chance, second chance, third chance. He gave them 10 chances and they wouldn’t listen. But he tried to get Moses to compromise and Moses would not compromise.

Look in verse 11, verse 11, and the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils. For the boil was also upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians. but it wasn’t upon the children of Israel. I mean this is God in heaven attacking their gods and showing that he is God and he says the reason is to show you that all the people in Egypt I want you to know I am God I am Jehovah and I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that is God that is the true God.

So look in verse 13. And the Lord said unto Moses, rise up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh and says, let my people go that they may serve me.” Well, he wouldn’t. And so God told Moses, and this is where you will read this in the book of Romans in chapter 9, how that God says in verse 16, and in very deed, for this cause have I raised thee up for to show in thee my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

Why is God doing this? Because God wants everybody to know He is God. And to convince the children of Israel, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And the reason he keeps saying Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is to let him know that God is not a God of the dead, but a God of the living that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are still alive. Even though they’re dead here, they’re still alive. Good thing to remember. Now look in verse 18.

They haven’t learned their lesson yet. Verse 18, Behold, tomorrow about this time, I will cause it to reign a very grievous hail such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof, even until now nothing has ever fell like this before. There’s gonna be hell stones coming and they’re gonna be dangerous and they’re gonna kill and destroy. He gonna send them and he says, the hell shall come down upon them and they shall die in verse 19. And so he verse 21, and he that regard of not the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the field.

And lo and behold, da da, they got hit with the hail and they died. So he goes through and he says, he’s saying, now look in verse 25. Verse 25, and the hail smoked throughout all the land of Egypt. All that was in the field. both man and beast. And the hell smote every herb of the field and break every tree of the field. You’re talking about Egypt, they are being punished, buddy. I mean, this is hitting every aspect of their whole economy.

Everything’s happening to them. But remember when Joseph first went there 400 years before how God blessed Egypt. And everybody would come there and get there. And God said that was because of Joseph, one man. And God used Joseph to bring his father Jacob and his sons. 70 of them in total and put them into choicest land of Egypt in the land of Goshen. The most watered place, most beautiful place, and that would belong to them. Because there was a Pharaoh who knew Joseph.

But years has passed. And then the Bible says there are rows of Pharaoh who knew not Joseph. And if he didn’t know Joseph, he didn’t know God. And now he’s making decisions and look what he’s doing to his own people. He’s destroying his own country. But that’s the way it goes. Also, if you’ll notice here in verse 27, Pharaoh’s sin and call for Moses and Aaron and said unto them, I have sinned this time, this time. The Lord is righteous and I and my people are wicked.

He finally saw the light. He finally saw the light. Do you really think he saw the light? He’s lying again because as soon as God would stop something, he’d change his mind again. Have you ever been in the hospital and you’re laying there and you’re real sick and you’re great as hope is Lord get well and to live Lord don’t let me die. Lord if you let me live I promise that I’ll do this and this and this and this and then you’ve got well and you didn’t keep your word.

I know a lot of people just like that. I went in to see one man in the hospital. I said, hey, what you doing in here? He said, oh, preacher, I’m so sick. I think I’m going to die. That says, everybody’s going to die sometime. I mean, I’m not the greatest at the hospital visit. I said, what can I do for you? He said, well, pray. I said, pray what? Did I get well? I said, look, you haven’t been serving the Lord, Lord.

And I told you over and over again, God’s going to chase you and discipline you. Now why should I come in here and ask God to make you well? I said, you’re probably here because of your rebellion to God. I said, are you going to plan on serving the Lord? He says, no. I said, then I’m not going to pray for you. You’re some kind of preacher. I said, I know it. I said, but I’m not asked God to bless rebellion.

I said, now if you want to serve the Lord and do right, I said, I’ll pray for that. I I said, but you already told me you’re not going to and you don’t want to. I said, your problem is to bring you to the Lord. And if you’re not gonna go to the Lord, I said, I’m not praying you get well. I’m gonna pray that God’s purpose will be fulfilled. And if God has to chasten you and discipline you and even take you home, so be it.

Scared him to death. You say, did you pray for him? No. And I left. No, you say, that’s cruel. No, it’s not. No, it’s not cruel. You don’t understand God. I understand what God says in His Word. I don’t ask God to bless disobedience. I want God to bless a person who wants to do what’s right. And I pray that God will put a hedge of thorns about you as it says in the book of Hosea. In other words, if you’re not going to serve a Lord, I pray Lord put a hedge of thorns about Him.

Not to remove the thorns, a hedge of thorns. God does that. And that’s the way it’s supposed to be. when you pray that hedge of thorns, it means that everything they do, they hurt themselves by their own decisions. They just get into one problem after another problem after another problem and they’re totally miserable. You say, well, I’m just miserable. Good. You ought to be miserable. When you rebel against God, you ought to be miserable. You ought not be happy.

You ought not happy. Enjoy. The Bible says there is no peace to the wicked. There’s no joy. Why should I pray that God give it to you? You want peace, love, joy, it’s over? God, He is God. But you can’t play games with God like Pharaoh’s doing. Pharaoh’s playing a game. Is he gonna lose or win? When you go against God, you lose. You lose. I learned a long time ago, don’t make God mad. Don’t make God mad. So I find out I am a lot happier doing right than doing wrong.

I have a lot more peace and joy. doing right than doing wrong. And when a person understands that, it’ll help them make better decisions, wouldn’t it? I think so. But anyway, down here in verse 34 where he says, and he sends yet more hardened his heart and verse 35, and the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go as the Lord had spoken by Moses. Now look at the next verse of chapter 10.

And the Lord said in the Moses, go in under Pharaoh, and as for I have hardened his heart. You see, how did he harden his heart by the decisions that he was forced to make? You see, like I said, you’re fine, unless you really find out what God’s like. See, most people are happy and satisfied with life until somewhere along the line, they go to church and they hear the preacher talk about this is sin, this is sin, this is sin, and you find out, Well, that’s what I’m doing.

No, I don’t feel good. Didn’t help me to come to church. I feel worse now. Well, you felt better because you didn’t think what you were doing was so bad. But when you see yourself the way God sees you then you’re not doing so good. And then you know that God’s gonna have to chase and then discipline you because you can’t live as you please and get away with it. Can you live as you please? Sure. Can you get away with it?

No. So there’s a price to pay for wickedness. So you can be as rebellious as you want to be. And you can be as obedient as you want to be. But God has already determined regardless of who you may be. God is not a respecter of persons. If you’ll yield yourself to the Lord and do what God wants to do, He’ll bless your life and reward you when you get to heaven. You rebel against the Lord, He’s going to beat the tar out of you.

You should understand that at the time. So back to Exodus in chapter 10. Look down there in verse 8. And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh. And he said unto them, go, serve the Lord your God, but who are they that shall go? Wait a minute. He said, let my people go. Now what does he want to do? Who do you want to go with you? And this is what he says. Moses says in verse 9, we will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go, for we must hold a feast before the Lord.

And he said unto them, let the Lord be with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones look to it, for evil is upon you. you, not so. Go now ye that are men and serve the Lord for that ye shall did desire and they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.” Now he wants you to go, yeah, but just the men. Lead the little ones here. Moses says, no, when we go, we’re all going to go.

So now they’re at it again. So now you’re going to bring in the locus. You know what locus are, big old light and grasshoppers. And he says, this is what’s going to take place. You see up here in verse 13, and Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all that night. And when it was morning, the east wind brought the locus. Here come the locus.

And then guess there you eat everything it was left. Verse 16, then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in hasten said, I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you. I’m so sorry. Well, he’s serious this time, right? He’s still not serious. If you’ve ever had people say, no, they do you wrong and they say, oh, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. And you know they’re not sorry. And then as soon as they can get a chance, they’re gonna do wrong again.

That’s when you want to slap their jaws. You know what I mean. So he says in verse 17, now therefore forgive I pray the my sin only this once, only this one. The last time I will never do it again. So in verse 19, and the Lord turned a mighty strong West wind which took away the locus and cast him into the Red Sea and there remained not one locus on all the coast of Egypt, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart so that he would not let the children of Israel go.

He still wouldn’t do it. So God says, I’m going to bring something else up on the land. I’m going to bring darkness upon the land. Dark, so dark you can’t see anything. No light. So he says in verse 21, and the Lord said unto Moses, stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness upon the land the beech Him. Even darkness which may be felt. In verse 23, they saw not one another, neither rose any from His place for three days, but all the children of Israel had light in their dwelling.

See the difference? Darkness and light. And you’ll find it’s over and over and over again in the scriptures how that God separates. If you will serve God what can happen, And if you don’t serve God, what can happen? We ought to learn lessons from all of these things that are mentioned here. And so he makes this statement in verse 24. Fero called unto Moses and said, Go ye, serve the Lord, get this. Only let your flocks and your herd be stayed.

Let your little ones also go with you. So now he’s giving them up. Each time he makes a little bit more concession. Okay, now you can take, you know, even your little one, but leave all the rest of them because, oh, there’s a dead. And Moses says, they must give us also offerings and burn offerings that we may sacrifice unto the Lord. Our cattle also shall go with us. There shall not and who be left behind. Verse 27, but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he would not let them go after all of this.

He said, well, you can go, take your little kids. All right, I give in, but leave all the cattle. We’re not even going to leave one who fear. Now you’re talking about hard-headed. You’ve got two hard-headed men here. One is Moses and one is Pharaoh. And Moses is set in stone because of God. He has confidence because God is behind him and he knew it. So all these things come to pass. So look in verse 28, and Pharaoh said unto him, Get deep from me.

Take heed to thyself, see my face no more, for in that day that thou seeeth my face thou shalt die. And Moses says, thou hath well spoken, I will see thy face again no more. Now the next chapter is for the next Sunday school lesson that we’ll get next time. And that’s the one that you always hear about. The one where the firstborn dies, that is a type of the firstborn Christ, and the Passover and all that, and how it came to be.

And here we are, 2000 years since Christ, and we’re still teaching those same stories that they had written 1500 years before that. We have an awesome book. And there’s a lot of things you can learn from it, even in our time that can help us to make wise decision. So you see, the only thing you need to do to go to heaven is to trust Christ as your Savior. Everybody hears Christ, died on the cross, paid for all the sins of the world, and nobody knows where they go when they die.

Well, then why did He do that? He paid for my sins, why? So that I wouldn’t have to pay for my sins. See, I don’t have to go to hell, and I don’t have to pay for my sins, why? for my sons, why? He paid for all of mine, but He paid for yours too. All you have to do is believe He did it for you. See how easy that is? You wanna go to heaven when you die? It’s not because you deserve to go to heaven, it’s not because you went to church, it’s not because you lived a good life and made a lot of good, it’s because did you or did you not accept that payment He made for you?

He died for me, paid for my sins so that I have a payment for how many of my sins? all of them. So that’s why I’m going to heaven. Christ died for me. I do want to explain this to you. Nobody’s perfect. There’s only one that’s perfect, and that’s God. Let me show you this. This hand represents you and me. This wallet represents everything we’ve done that’s wrong. We’ve all sinned. So God says because of sin, and That’s the evidence we got an old sinful nature.

Why do I do all these bad things? Because you got a sinful nature. It’s your nature. Why does a dog bark? It’s the nature of the dog to bark. But wouldn’t it be a shame to tell the dog, you stop acting like a dog and I’ll make you a chicken. When can the dog stop acting like a dog? That’s why there’s preachers that tell people, stop your sin and turn from all of your sin. Don’t sin anymore. You’re right.

Nobody can do that. It’s impossible. You can’t turn from your sins. Right, it’s on the inside. That’s the nature that you have. That’s why you do all those bad things. You can pick the apples off the tree, but that doesn’t change it from being an apple tree. But God, so love the world. He loves you. He loves me. He hates what we do wrong. And for us to pay for this sin, eternal separation from God and hell. And Jesus said, He’s looking for the fruits of righteousness and there aren’t any.

He’s looking for perfection. There aren’t any. So He says, He’s going to lay the axe to the root of the tree. He means He cuts down every tree. That’s not perfect. That’s why the wages of sin is death. That’s why we’re all going to die. And because of that, we’re all condemned to hell. So there is no hope for man by man. You can’t stop it. You can’t change it. You can’t help it. You’re in a heap of trouble.

And this is what God did for us. See, God says he wants us to go to heaven. But to go to heaven, you’ve got to be perfect. He’s righteous as God. None of us are perfect. We’ve all done things wrong. Nobody’s good enough. So God says you cannot save yourself. People have heard about this all their life. Let this hand represent Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord, God in the flesh. He came into the world because He loves us. He hates our sin because it separates us from Him.

So Jesus Christ who had no sin didn’t have to die. So He didn’t have to be cut down. So why did He die? Well, it’s very simple. He took our sins. and died in our place. Paid for all of our sins came back from the dead, and God said that if we would believe, He’d get it for us. Aren’t you glad he didn’t tell you to do something hard and complicated? All he says, this is all you have to do to go to heaven is will you believe that I pay for your sins?

You see, if I believe he paid for my sins, I’m not trying to pay for my sins. See, I’m not going to church to try to pay for my sins. You know, if I do enough good, it’ll pay for the bad. I’m not giving money to pay for my sins. I’m not trying to pray to pay for my sins. I’m not doing anything to pay for my sins. I’m not doing anything to try to earn my way to heaven.

I’m going to heaven because of what Christ did. Christ paid for my sins. And if I believe He did it for me, He puts the payment to my account and I go to heaven on what Christ did. You got it? Let’s pray, shall we? If you hear this morning and perhaps you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, I want you to understand you don’t have to live the life. You don’t have to promise to live a Christian life.

You don’t have to promise God you’re going to stop anything or join anything. Friend, that would just make your religious hypocrite. Christ died for your sins. The only way you’ll ever get to heaven is to believe He did it for you. You don’t have to join this church. You don’t have to give any money. I don’t want anything from you. I want you to receive something. You see, the Lord offers you eternal life as a gift. And if you accepted, you would have it.

Will you believe it? If you hear this morning, and say, preach of that made sense to me, and I will trust Christ as my Savior right now. Friend, I’d love to know it. I’d love to have prayer for you. And I’m gonna ask you in just a moment to slip your hand up. Raising your hand does not save you. just lets me know that what I said made sense. And you said, that made sense to me. And I’m gonna trust Christ as my Savior.

Is there anyone at all before we close? Just flip it up very quickly, but right back down, say that made sense to me. Yes, God bless you, man. God bless you, sir. God bless you, I appreciate that. Anyone else, just flip it up very quickly. So that me, I’m not gonna have you forward, not gonna embarrass you. Yes, God bless you, God bless you. Are there others? Yes, God bless you, sir. God bless you. Anyone else? See if you trust Christ right now as your Savior, God said He would save you right now.

Give you eternal life and you can know that you’re going to heaven when you die because He loves you so much. Anyone else before we close? Our Father, we thank You so much for the free gift of eternal life. You love us so much. And what I thank You for each one of these that by an uplifted hand have indicated that they would trust Christ as their Savior. We know that when they do so, You promised in Your Word to give them eternal life and that they would become Your child, that you’d never cast them out and never lose them.

We thank You so much for all You’ve done for us and forgiven it to us in such a way that we can have it and understand it, it’s free. And that You’ll never take and cast us out, never loses. And follow we can know that we’re going to heaven. Thank You so much for Christ and in return. Amen. Well, it’s a new month, and that means a new offer to those who support Bibleline.
