Now take your Bible look in the book of Acts in chapter 1, the book of Acts in chapter 1. The book of Acts is a continuation, as you would say, maybe of the book of Luke. God used the same writer and he says that this is a continuation of what Jesus began to do and to teach. So here in chapter one, notice what he says in verse two, until the day in which he was taken up, after that he threw the Holy Ghost, hath given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen, that he, through the Holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the apostles.
He had told them what he wanted them to do. Now this I believe is more than just the great commission that he gave on the day that he had told them to go into all the world and preach the gospel of them, but there’s more than just the gospel because he told them to teach whatever I have commanded you, and And now he’s fulfilling that responsibility in those 40 days before Jesus Christ had been after he had been taken up and 10 days later the Holy Spirit came on that day of Pentecost.
So turning your Bible down to the book of 2 Peter chapter 1, you and I should believe that the Bible is the Word of God. So here in 2 Peter chapter 1 and verse 21, we’d covered before our last Wednesday night about the, and being an eyewitness of his majesty when he was on the amount of transfiguration. So what he saw, what he heard, but we have a more sure word of prophecy and that’s the written scriptures. And a lot of confidence is put upon the scriptures.
So in verse 21, for the prophecy came out in old time by the will of man. In other words, man did not decide this book. It was not the will of man. This is the will of God. This is called the Word of God, not the Word of man. This is God’s Word, holy word, given to us. You see, God could reveal his power through the things that he made, but you couldn’t know God. So God revealed himself through his Son and through the Word itself.
So that we We have special divine revelation, not just natural revelation, where we know there’s a God, but through the book we can know God, know what He’s like, know how to be saved, know how to get to heaven. But when you take away this Bible and man has no knowledge about a lot of things that are going on in this world, we would have a clue, what are we doing here? We would be like the lost people in this world that has no inside knowledge.
We know the truth. We know what’s going on. We know how it’s going to end. We know what’s right ahead of us. And we don’t have to guess. God’s already told us. And so we have been so blessed. But look what that verse says. But holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. They were moved and guided along by the Holy Spirit. Now I wrote a little statement down that I thought it was pretty cute.
The Word of God is by the God of the Word. The Word of God is by the God of the Word. Man didn’t get his human wisdom into this book. What’s in this book reveals the wisdom of God. And yes, God can use man. And like we said, the mold was man, but the Word, the gold was God. So God can pour that goal into different shapes of vessels and it takes upon the image of the person. But that’s because God knows every individual and can use what a man knows.
And in some cases in the Old Testament, it says they wrote and understood not what they wrote. They had to study what God meant when he talked about the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow. So all these things are very, very important. And 2 Peter in chapter 1, looking verse 16. In verse 16, he talked about being an eyewitness. And this was upon the amount of transfer. that we’ve talked about before. Now, won’t you look right there since we’re close?
2nd Peter in chapter 3. 2nd Peter chapter 3 and look there in verse 15. You know there was a time in the book of Galatians where the Apostle Peter came down from Jerusalem and he caused a little stir. What he did is Paul had a church down there in Antioch and Peter comes down there the great apostle and split it. He’s really his church. He did some things that was not comparable to the gospel. It did not become the gospel.
It was something that was a compromise. He was given legitimacy to the legalistic Judaizers. So what they said was true and he was afraid of them. So out of fear, he was a compromise. Now who, and Evertough, the first pope would have been like that. But here in the book of 2 Peter, chapter 15, I need to correct that. He was not the first pope. I thought I’d been to say that. In verse 15, an account that the long suffering of our Lord is salvation.
The reason that God is so patient is God wants everyone to be saved. Now look what he says about the great apostle Paul, Peter, what he says about Paul. He says, even as our beloved brother Paul, also according to the wisdom, get this, given unto him, hath written unto you. So he’s telling them the wisdom that he wrote was given to him. It wasn’t manufactured by him. It’s not about the wisdom of the Apostle Paul. And you’ll notice also in verse 16 and also in, and you ought to underline this, and circle the word all, all his epistles.
Peter is saying something about this man’s writings, who is the apostle Paul, who we know wrote 13 books of the New Testament, and probably 14, if you include the book of Hebrews. Thus most of the New Testament, and he makes this statement about him, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable rest, as they do also the other scriptures, other scriptures, ties in with all his epistles.
What he says and the scriptures, the holy scriptures is together. He’s putting his stamp of approval and saying, what Paul wrote was scripture. Did not the Apostle Paul in the book of 1 Corinthians in chapter three and verse 16 say that all scriptures given by inspiration of God, all scripture, that scripture that says that that scripture was written by Paul and what he wrote was Holy scripture. And as inspired as the scripture they quoted from in the Old Testament.
But now notice what he says here. They do also the other scriptures under their own destruction. So therefore we believe that what Paul wrote was Scripture. And he’s telling us to trust the Word of God. And he’s the one that says that Peter here, that holy men of God wrote as they were moved or guided along by the Holy Spirit and then talks about Paul and what Paul wrote and the wisdom that was given to him to write these scriptures.
So therefore, I believe that Peter could stamp of approval upon the word of God is the word of God. I do my dead level best not to feel like I have got to correct the Bible because once I start trying to correct the Bible, and I try to explain what a word may mean, but see there’s a lot of difference in trying to say this word means this and I’m not sure what it means because a word is an important word.
But remember many translations don’t go by word for word, they go by thought process. They take the thought. But remember, when God gives us words, there could be a multitude of thoughts come from that little portion of words. A one sentence can give you many thoughts. I don’t want some translator telling me his thought about those words. Just tell me what the words are. and let me decide what it means. So therefore I study to see what the word of God means.
But I don’t want some translation telling me the thoughts, and they go by the thought, and therefore they’re not concerned about the words. And the words are very important, as you find that John, one of the apostles, wrote in the book of Revelation, not to add one word. Change one word, because a word can change the thought. And so that’s why this is so important. So take your Bible and look there in the book of, let’s go to 1 Corinthians in chapter 15.
1 Corinthians in chapter 15. Now you know that the apostle Paul had stated in Timothy about believing in Adam and Eve, which is in 2nd chapter. about Eve. So that means that he believes and agrees that the book of Genesis was true, and that Eve was real. And she was the first woman. And how did it all started? Well, look here in 1 Corinthians in chapter 15. Chapter 15. Now look in verse 22 and then verse 45. In this Corinthians chapter 15 verse 22 says, for as in Adam all die, where do we learn about Adam?
Who in the world is Adam? Anybody got a clue who Adam is? The first man. So that means if he’s referring to the first man, he stated it as though it’s true. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. So you have Adam and you have Christ. Well, he didn’t really, he just, he just making that up. No, he’s referring to a particular book, the first book in the Bible, talking about the first man in the Bible, and it says that it is true.
So even the apostle Paul says, see, this is the attitude you and I are supposed to have, where we believe that the scriptures are infallible, that the Scriptures are true. And therefore we should not question and doubt the word of God because that’s a slippery slope. Because after a while you won’t know what to believe and what not to believe. Just believe everything that the Bible says. If you have a question with what something means, then that’s where you seek to find out what it means.
But you know all Scripture must perfectly dovetail. The mistake is not with the Scriptures. The mistake is in our understanding. We just don’t get it all. But be patient with God because He might teach you some more things. And then later on down the road, maybe 10, 15, 20 years, He might reveal something to you and you get the answer to something that you wish to wonder about and wonder, I wonder what that means. I’ve been doing that on some things in prophecy and I don’t know if I’m gonna live long enough to get all of my answers.
Look what He says in verse 45. So it is written the first man Adam when he says it is written. It is written. What does that mean? It is written. Scripture, that means it was written in the Old Testament, it’s written somewhere in scripture. So that means he’s going all the way back and saying, as it is written, like we’re supposed to believe that. We should believe it because it’s the truth. And he says in verse 45, the first man Adam was made a living soul, the last Adam a quickening spirit.
So the Bible says that the story of Adam and Eve are true. Paul put his stamp of approval upon him. Christ put his stamp of approval upon this. Therefore, I must believe that it is true. Now, take your Bible and turn to book of Romans in chapter one. Romans and chapter one. the Apostle Paul dealing with a very interesting subject, the just shall live by faith and referring all the way back to the book of Habakkah. Habakkah, what a book.
Chapter 2 and verse 4, the just shall live by faith. But notice what he says here in the book of Romans in chapter 1, look their in verse 2, which he had promised for by his prophets and the, what does heisites call them? Holy Scriptures, promised by his prophets. So he’s saying that what the prophets wrote is holy scripture. It doesn’t say except, and this is not good, and that’s not good, you can believe all of what Joshua wrote, but not everything, and what Moses wrote the the first five books in the Bible, but watch out for it.
It didn’t say that. It doesn’t question whether or not it’s all true. The scripture gives us the idea it’s all true. All scriptures given by inspiration of God where to believe that. Now, I also want you to see something else as you go through here. You’ll notice in several places it talked about as it is written, as it is written. And you’ll notice that it goes through different books in the Bible and kind of gives us a good idea.
So we know that right there in verse seven, verse 17, Romans chapter 1, looking verse 17. Verse 17 says, for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, the just shall live by faith. As it is written means it’s written in the Old Testament. This verse comes from the book of Habakkah, a little bitty book, We’re of a little minor prophets, not that big, not that important. Wait a minute. This book is based upon one verse in that Old Testament scripture.
And when you read the book of Galatians, that verse is used again. And when you read the book of Hebrews, that verse is used again. The just one book shall live one book by faith, another book, three books explain to what one verse and you think that some translator can give you the accurate thought of what the word of God says and give his own translation. No I want just tell me what the word is and then let me have the Holy Spirit give me the thoughts because today I might get this thought from that scripture and tomorrow I can read it and get another thought and the next day I can read it and get another love.
This book can come alive to you and teach you for the rest of your life. You have no idea how many times I’ve read John chapter 3, but every time I read John chapter 3 is like I’ve never read it before. I got some more. I got some more. I got some more. This is a different kind of a book. This is not like all the other books in the world. This is the book of God. This is God’s Word given to you and I.
Also look there in chapter 2 and verse 24. Chapter 2 verse 24 says, for the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you as it is written. Now where in the world is that found? That’s in Isaiah chapter 52. That’s written in the old to Isaiah. He’s gone from Habakkah to Isaiah and there’s other scriptures he even talked about in the book of Psalms and so for them. Look in chapter 3 and verse 4. Chapter 3 verse 4.
Verse 4 says, God forbid, Ye let God be true, and every man a liar, as it is written, Yank He said, if it said, Yank He said, I wouldn’t believe it, because it’s written in the Word of God. It is written that thou mightest be justified and thy sins and mightest overcome when thou art judged. The Word of God puts a stamp of approval upon the Word of God. And so when Christ was here, He talked about the various things that people had questions on.
Like, you know, the flood. Christ said the flood was real. Sodom and Gomorrah, Christ says that was real. You name it and the problems in Christ put a stamp of approval upon it. So either we have to believe that this book is truly what it claims to be or go home and take the thing and throw it in the trash and do whatever you want to do. But don’t claim to believe the Bible and then question it. It’s either the authority or it’s not the authority.
Live your life based upon the truth in this book and it can change your life. I had to come to the place where I had approached this book not like I’m going to find mistakes in it and I’m going to study until I find all the errors in the Bible. I have been studying it for 55 years and so far I’ve come up empty. I’ve come to conclusion. There aren’t any. I had a man one time tell me, he said, Well the Bible is just full of mistakes and contradictions.
I hand them out, I said, show me one. Oh it’s just loaded. Just one. Well they’re in there. Show me one. I said, you can’t do it, can you? I said, you’re only talking about costs. You hurt somebody else say that. I said, you hypocrite. Now it’s nice when I said it. Well maybe not really nice. But these are things that we need to understand. Look in chapter 4 and verse 10. Chapter 4 verse 10.
This is very important to read and understand some of these things. But there in chapter three, it talks about it in verse four. Chapter three, verse 10, excuse me. In verse 10, as it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. Well, that’s the Psalms. And there’s a whole lot of Psalms. And then it’ll mention different Psalms in the New Testament and quotes. And when Christ was here, He said that it might be fulfilled, that it might be.
And it was prophecy. All these things are in the Word of God and we should believe that. Now you have, look at another one with me, look in chapter 9 and verse 13. Chapter 9 and verse 13. You’ll notice here in the book of Romans in chapter 9 verse 13, as it is written, Jacob, I loved Esau have I hated? Now these people have been dead for 1500 years don’t worry about that. This is talking about the new nature, the old nature.
God hates that old sinful nature that we have but he loves the new birth and it’s more of a relationship about that. But notice what he says as it is written but where was it written? In the book of Malachi, the book of Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament. So we’ve gone from the first book in the Bible to the last book in the Old Testament and it covers all those books in between. And when Christ was here in the book of Luke, he says, the law, the prophet, and the Psalms, these things concerning me.
So he put his stamp of approval on. Don’t question the Bible. That’s what the devil does. Get you to where you don’t believe what it says. I trust the Scriptures. Believe them. that’s worth. And the most important thing you’ll ever do in believing what God says, he says this and look there in 1 John 5 verse. Anybody know what verse I’m going to turn to?
Who said that? All right, since he said that, we’ll look at that. 1 John 5, 13. 1 John 5, 13. These things have I written if this was written, it’s inspired of God. It’s God’s, this is what God said. Did you know if you believe what God says, you will have what God promised? And He promised us eternal life if we only believed what the word of God says. The word of God is what tells us all about God and how that we’re saved.
So he says in verse 13, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. Can you know you have eternal life? Does the word of God tell us we can know we have eternal life? Then why would I want to doubt that? I can know it. I can know I have eternal life. Look up here, His hand represents you and me. The wallet represents sin.
Now we all have sin on us. This is all of us. Everybody sins. So because of sin, the way the sin is death. So everybody’s gonna die. So we’re all gonna die. So we’re all in the same boat. Always remember this. God loves you. He don’t like what you do wrong, but He loves you. You love your children. You don’t like what they do wrong. So if you will understand to go to heaven, can’t go there as you are.
God does not allow sin in heaven. So what you’re gonna do with this? And God says, you can’t save yourself. You say, well, I’ll do good works. Oh, you can do some good works. Put on some good works. Now, look at my good works. I know, but you’re still not doing anything about this. You still got a problem. So the Bible says, you cannot save yourself. You cannot earn your way to heaven. Your good works won’t even help. Here’s the good news.
This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God and the flesh. Came into the world because He loves us, hates our sin because our sin separates us from the Lord. So what did Christ do? Well, He had no sin, so He didn’t have to die. So He took all of our sins of the whole world and what He did for one person, He did for everybody. That means that God does not love anyone in this world more than he loves you.
There’s nobody he loves more than you. He loves you so much he would have died, he’d rather died than live without you. He did this so that you could be with him. So he took our sins, paid for them on the cross, came back from the dead. And all he wants us to do is believe he did it for us. So God said, God said, God, He would give you eternal life as a free gift, and you get to go to heaven on what He did.
The Bible says, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. The whosoever, anybody whosoever, believe it than Him, should not perish. means won’t go to hell. But have everlasting life. You and I, we get to go to heaven on what Christ did for us. So will you trust Jesus Christ to take you to heaven when you die? If you will, God will save you and give you the free gift of everlasting life. The word of God is true.
Trust it. Believe it. Let’s pray, shall we? With heads bowed nice and closed, and no one looking around, I’m not going to ask you to stand up or come forward. embarrass you, but right where you’re sitting. If what I said may sense to you, and you say, I want to know that I’m going to heaven, the only way you can know that you’re going to heaven is for you to trust Jesus Christ and Him alone as your Savior. You cannot work for it.
You can’t earn. You can’t help Him. You must totally just, Lord, I’m a sinner. I’m going to accept Christ as my Savior. And He said He would save you and give you the free gift of eternal life. And you can know that you’re going to heaven when you get up to leave tonight. So with His bow nice clothes, is there any will also you preach if that made sense to me? And tonight I will accept Jesus Christ as my Savior and I’d like for you to pray for me.
I’m not gonna have you forward, not gonna embarrass you, but I would like to know because I’d like to have prayer for you in closing. We do with His bow nice clothes so little one will be embarrassed. Is there anyone at all here tonight? So Yes, I’ll trust Christ as my Savior. And I’d like you to pray for me. Slip you in a very quickly and put it right back down. And we’re gone. And we’re gone. Do you know for certain you’re going to heaven when you die?
If you do, God saves you, gives you eternal life. If you’re watching by internet, if you can see right there on the screen, yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior. I pray that you will. Our Father, we thank you so much for all that you’ve done for us. And forgiven us a book that is reliable, help us to believe it, to trust it, because Father, we know that the devil would do whatever possible to get us to question the validity of your word, to believe your promises, to get us not to trust you, but help us Father to look to you and to believe as we should so that we can be strong in our faith.
Bless each one for being here those that watch by internet in Christ’s name we pray. Amen. Have you heard about Bibleline Institute, the online Bible College of Bibleline Ministries?
