You know there’s another great truth that we often present in the giving of the gospel because she’s a gospel is good news. But you have to understand the bad news in order to appreciate the good news. Because without the bad news, you don’t know there’s good news. But the good news is it wouldn’t be needed if there was no bad news. So we often say these four things. We’re all sinners, we’re all condemned. You gotta be perfect to go to heaven and you can’t earn it.
Those four things is bad news, bad news for us, because there’s nothing we can do. Then we talk about the good news of the gospel. But the other bad news is, is God says, you can not earn your way to heaven. It is not by works that we have done. Not of works lest any man should boast. So salvation cannot include any of your works. Good, bad, or indifferent. Your intentions don’t matter. Try and doesn’t help. Just because you want to.
Your good works have absolutely nothing to do with your destination. You are condemned already. You’re not going to be condemned. You’re not going to wait until you stand at some judgment, some day to find out what’s going to be my destination. I talked to the judge. He already told me on you. I’m not the judge. I’m just going to tell you what the judge said. Yeah, wouldn’t he tell you that? He wrote it in a book. I read the book.
He says you’re guilty. He says you’re condemned. He says you can’t save yourself. And he says, there’s only one hope. And that’s to believe the good news. Now, because it’s important, a man cannot save himself by his work. Do you realize if you understood that? And if everybody in the world understood, you cannot save yourself by your good work. It automatically closes down all religions in the world.
All the religions in the world, and almost all the nominations and churches trying to get people to be good enough to get to heaven and it won’t work. Look how much I could save them. Do you realize how many people are giving money trying to earn their way to heaven by their way to heaven? They think because they give money to the church. That helps. No, it doesn’t. When we pass the offering plates here, you can take some out for the heat in any way.
No. The reason we don’t pass the hat because we wouldn’t get the hat back. But you’re given your money does not help you get inside the pearly gates. Come in the church and that’s nice and we everybody appreciate people when they go to church because people to go to church that was in those are good people. Those are good. I mean good people they go to church and therefore you must be good because you’re doing something good. God says in His There’s no difference.
We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Short of God’s perfection. Nobody is good enough to go to heaven. That’s why there’s no good heaven. There’s only a perfect heaven. And you and I buy our works are not perfect and will never be. You see, it is impossible. That’s why we need to save you. Now, the other point. And everybody’s heard this. And this is the good news. Christ died for my sins. Now think about it.
Christ died for my sins. Why? Why did Christ die for my sins? If he died for my sins? If he didn’t want me to pay for my sins. He must have loved me enough that he was willing to do whatever it took to be. took to pay for my sins. Well, what would he have to do for me to pay for my sin? So he went to the bank and took out a large draft and he made a payment.
No. Jesus didn’t come into this world and go to church to pay for my sins. He didn’t even keep the 10 commandments to pay for my sins because he kept the 10 commandments and still didn’t pay for my sins. He didn’t live a good righteous life so that that didn’t pay for my sins. All the perfection that he had didn’t pay for my sins because he was perfect before. He was perfect when he was here. He had to do something for me that I was going to have to do if he didn’t.
What was I going to have to do? The wages of sin is what? And that’s eternal separation from God. Take your Bible and turn with me to the book of revelation. Revelation and chapter 20, Revelation chapter 20. And just look at this verse, Revelation chapter 20 and verse 13. Verse 13 says, and the sea gave up the dead which were in it, death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, them, and they were judged every man according to their worth.
Every man judged according to his works. Most people will say, well, this is the decide who gets to go to heaven, and this decides who gets to go to hell. All these people are already going to hell. These people already came from hell and are on their way to the final hell. But they’re being judged according to their works. Their works could not save them. No man has ever been or ever will be saved from hell by their works.”
So notice what he says. Verse 14, death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever it was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. That’s the destiny of every person who rejects Jesus Christ as their Savior. Now that’s where we were headed.
And if I die without Christ and I can’t pay for my sins, that’s where I go. So Christ, to keep me from going to hell, died for me in my place so that I wouldn’t have to. But the payment he made is not put to my account just because he did it. Just put to my account when I believe on him and trust him. Then the payment he made is put to my account. I get to go to heaven on what Jesus Christ did for me.
So the good news of the gospel is that Christ died for my sins. But you see, if you only told people that without telling them the other part, they don’t get the truth of the gospel. The truth of the gospel is you’re in a heap of trouble. The truth is we’re all sinners. The truth is heaven is perfect. The truth is you got a debt. The truth is you can’t earn your way to heaven. You can’t get out of this.
You can’t change it. And because of that, Christ died for my sins. Now ifphis intimidates me, orthern is the truth. Christ died for my sins, it’s because he didn’t want be lead that he did it for me. He would put that payment he made to my account. I get to go to heaven on what he. pires in allpect Because it’s free. It’s the gift of God. The gift of God is eternal life. So only thing you and I have to believe.
And when we leave on him, he says you can have the free gift of that. And get the only requirement. It’s to believe. And some people say, well, believe in is a work. Believe in is a work. Well, I got news for you. And just because you asked that question, I’m not going to answer it. Look there in the book of Romans in chapter four. Romans chapter four. And notice what it says in verse five. Romans chapter four verse five.
It says, this is on page 1196 in a Bible that was loaned to you, one of our church Bibles. And verse 5 says, but to him, that work it not but believe it on him that justifyeth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. God doesn’t want your works, your deeds, your promises, your pledges, your change life. None of that helps get you to heaven. not say because you turn from a sin or because you promised how you’re going to live.
God will not save you if you’re dependent upon that. He only saves you if you’re dependent upon him. Not you dependent upon you. If it depends on you, then you’re not dependent on him. Isn’t that clear? So he says, but to him that worketh not, but believe it. So then believe in is not working for salvation. Believing is simply you believe that what he did, he did it for you and you’re trusting him to save you. That’s the truth of the gospel.
When you add something else to that, it’s no longer free. And the reason that God did it this way is so that it would be sure. Look what he says in verse 16. Or Romans chapter 4 verse 16. Therefore it is of faith that it might be by grace. Why? To the end the promise might be sure to all the seed. It’s the only way it can be sure is it has to be free. If it’s not free you can’t be sure.
I’m trying to stop all of that. That’s not the gospel. That puts you into bondage. You’re trying to work for something that God has already done the work for. He did the work. When he said a couple words, it is finished. That means it’s a new thing to do. There’s no work required of you. of you. I am a sinner. I’m on my way to hell. And I’m going to burn in a literal fire burning hell for all eternity.
And Christ died for me, paid for my sin so that I won’t have to go to hell. He offers it to me for us as a free gift. And then because I believe that, he says, tell somebody Now, I don’t have the right to add to that and change that message because I want a person, if you’re on drugs or if you’re on alcohol, if you’re running around with some woman, you shacked up with somebody, I may want you to quit those things.
So I just take it upon myself to tell you, no, you can’t do that anymore. God didn’t say that. You said that. Your sin is not the issue. Christ dealt with the sin. Your sins is not the issue. Did you or did you not put your faith in him? He says, he that believeth on him is not condemned. But he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
your sin is not the issue anymore. Christ took care of that. The issue now is will you believe what he did was for you? And God says if you’ll believe it you can have it. Go back here to 2 Thessalonians in chapter 2, back to the 2 Thessalonians chapter 2. Page 1272 and a church Bible and notice what he says here. You thought I forgot about 2nd thessalonians didn’t you? I know you did. But in verse 10, once more, and with all this seaableness of unrighteousness in them that perish because they receive not the love of the truth.
Why do people perish because they receive not the love of the truth? Listen, when you understand, yes, I’m a sinner and yes, I have to die. Yes, heaven is perfect and I can’t go and I can’t earn my way to heaven Now you can understand he must love me Because there’s nothing that I can do to merit his salvation The love of the truth if you will believe the truth You will be saved. You see, Ibid the Gospel is God’s way of showing to the world how much he loves the world.
That’s why there- how much He loves the world. That’s why there’s such good news because there’s such bad news. There was no bad news. We wouldn’t understand and appreciate this good news. I really appreciate my salvation more and more because I know I have nothing to do with it. A man, one man in 73 years, told me about Christ. Since then, no one has ever tried to win me to Christ. Of all the places that I’ve been, nobody has ever tried to win me to learn.
I’ve been on the streets, I’ve been on the golf courses, I’ve been in different countries, I’ve been all over the United States, I think just about every state, nobody has ever witnessed to me. Don’t come up after the service and do it just so I can stop doing that. Because it won’t be for real. You say, you just told me not to witness to somebody. Yeah. All right. Look what he says there in verse 11. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusions that they should believe what?
You see, God will allow you to believe a lie if you really don’t want to believe the truth. If you want to believe the truth and you’re looking for truth, you can find truth. But you don’t want truth, you’ll be blinded. You can’t see. And you won’t know that you’re believing a lie. Think of all the people today that are meeting in churches all across the world. And they think that has something to do with them going to heaven or the money that they give or how good they live their life or pay in their bills and treating a wife and kids right.
All those things may be a nice thing that has nothing to do with your eternal destination. Your eternal destination is based upon did you or did you not trust Christ as your Savior? You don’t trust Him, you don’t have a Savior. You can’t help Him save you. You try to help, He’ll let you alone because you’re not trusting Him. You’re trusting in your good works. Trust Jesus Christ and Him alone as your only hope. Now look what He says there in verse 12.
that they get this all might be damned who believed not the truth. This is why the Apostle Paul said this is such an issue in the book of Galatians in chapter 2. Those people, those false teachers that come in there and want to add works to the gospel, we didn’t move one eye order. We didn’t give them credibility. We didn’t compromise our stand that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. We want you to know what it is.
Did you know that if I wanted to pack this church, all I got to do is tell a few lies. And you’d be surprised how many people would come because I would be tickling their ears and telling them what they want to hear. But at Calvary Community Church, I’m not interested in your ears. I say it this way, he that hath ears to let him hear, but I’m not an ear tickler. I’ll try to teach what this book says as honestly as I understand it.
This is the authority. And when God says this is the way it is and somebody else wants to say something, I’m sorry. The book says, God says, and no man has the authority to add to the Word of God. And they add to it in a very subtle way. They don’t come out and say, you got to keep 10 commandments to go to heaven. Now there’s something that’ll do that. They’ll just tell you you’ve got to quit your sins.
Well, how have you been doing with that? I haven’t met a man who has yet. And if I got to quit my sins, how many of my sins do I have to quit? I mean a few of all of them. Well probably all of them, okay. Have you? The people who pay how you do it hasn’t. There are a bunch of hypocrites trying to thank you there living so much holy. You got a turn from your sins. What does that mean?
I have. He must be Lord of all or not Lord at all. What I’m telling you is he’s Lord of all of my life. Oh really? I like to talk to his wife. But looking verse 12 again, that they all might be damned who believe in the truth. That’s why the gospel is so important. We better make sure that the message we tell lost people is the truth of the gospel and not a lie. If this is so important, We better make sure we’re telling the truth that the gospel is the gospel.
Now that I didn’t set all of that, let me… Oh, there’s my notes. I knew I had them someplace. I’d get all about them. Look up here one more time before we quit. You’ve heard it. You’ve seen it now. Follow it one more time through. This is you and me. This is sin. We all have sin on us. God, He loves us. He hates our sin but He loves us. He loves you. But to pay for this sin, the wages of sin is death.
So we’re all condemned. All of us. We’re all in the same boat. But God doesn’t want us to pay for our sins. Because the wages of sin is death and if I die, I don’t have the power to come back from the dead. I don’t there is no other place because you don’t sleep in the grave. That’s where the body goes. The horn get it and then they die. You and I are absent from the bodyLauncher. We’re either in presence with God or we’re in a place called hell.
Old Testament, Chio, New Testament, Hades, we’re in a place of torment. Until the Lord brings us out and we stand at the Great White Throne Judgment, the Great White Throne Judgment, where every lost man is going to be judged according to his works. God will prove to every individual that no one had a right to eternal life. No one had a right to the Holy Spirit. amentalliamut deserted and you ruthjmunition the —- payment he made for you and then it will determineyond He’s a little bit like a little fire burning final.
It’s where they will be. So God loves us. We’re all guilty. We’re going to die. To go to heaven. We have to be perfect. No sin. because of sin, we can’t get in. That’s impossible. We can’t change this. We can’t change this. Do to all. God says you’re a good works. We’ll never be good enough. You cannot earn your way to heaven by your good deeds. God says you cannot. YouWER already under the sentence of death. You must die and you can’t stop it.
You may extend your your life a little bit and not die at 70. You may die at 75. You might even make it to 80 or 90, but you’re going to die. Now this hand, we’re getting ready to take a load right now, after church. This hand represents Jesus Christ. This is the good news. Christ came into the world, he had no sin. He didn’t have to die. But he loved us. He hated our sin because our sins keeps us apart.
I can’t get to him. He can’t get to me. So what Christ did was, took my sins and he died in my place. Came back from the dead and he said he did this for everybody in the world. So we open it up, whosoever, believe it shall not perish but have everlasting life. So you see, when he came back from the dead, all he wants us to do is to accept what he did for us. He died in my place.
Christ died for my sins. Why? So that I don’t have to pay for my sins. I don’t have to pay for my sins. Listen to me. I don’t have to pay for my sins. I’m not going to hell today or tomorrow or any time in the future. I cannot ever go to hell and ever pay for my sins. My sins have been paid in full. You say, well, That means you can just glide here and live like you please.
I know. You want me to clarify that, but I’m not going to. It doesn’t need any clarifying. It’s either by grace or it’s not by grace, but I will say this. Let’s just pretend that Yankee Arnold has done everything in the book. And I trust that Christ is my Savior. God gives me eternal life and I’m now His child and I’m going to heaven when I die and I keep on living doing everything in the book. If I die and go to heaven, it’d be grace, wouldn’t it?
Wouldn’t it? The truth of the gospel, the salvation is by grace. Did you know that knowing this and understanding this has challenged me? They serves the Lord with all my heart because I’m not bondage, I’m free, free to serve God with all my heart. I hope that makes sense to you. So you mean youhhh live likapla Akin that’s what have been done for 55 years. I go to church because that pleases me and I read my Bible because that pleases me, I serve God because that pleases me, I witness because And all the things that I do is because it pleases me.
What’s wrong with that? I do get like that. So have you trusted Christ as your Savior? Are you trying to earn your way to heaven by how good you are? Well, I’m not one of those bad sinners. Yes, you are. And God’s eyes, there’s no difference. He died for you. Would you believe it? Let’s pray, shall we? With every head bound, every eye closed, and no one looking around? the quietness of this moment just between you and the Lord.
your thoughts. Would you talk to him right now and say something simple like this, Lord, I know I’m a sinner. And I believe that when Christ died, I believe He died for me. And today I understand I cannot save myself. And I’m going to trust Jesus Christ right now and Him alone as my only hope of going to heaven. I believe that He loved me. I believe He died He’ll give, he’ll give me eternal life if I trust him right now.
redes he he saves you right now, gives you eternal life right now, and you can know that when you get up, I’m going to. And it’s not because I’m good, not because I promised anything, but because he loved me. He loved me that much. If you make that decision, I like to know that I’m going to be full. you, but right where you’re sitting. I’m going to ask you in just a moment to raise your hand, raising your hand doesn’t save you.
It just lets me know that what I said made sense to you. And I like to SEA. Is there anyone at all? Say, yes, preacher, that made sense to me this morning. And I will trust Christ as my Savior. And I’d like for you to pray for me. Would you just slip in it very quickly, put it right back down? Anyone at all? Anyone at all? Our Father, we thank you again and the truth of the gospel. And bless those that watch by internet and those that come my way this morning.
