Well, it’s wonderful to have a Bible and to be able to understand a little bit of it. it. There’s a word called echlesia, echlesia, out of. God is called in people out of this world, using Gentile, putting together in the church. So it’s a wonderful thing when you hear the gospel and you know you have been called by the gospel to be in another world called out. Eclessia. There’s also another word called exegesis. Exegesis is understanding that, see, the word of God, God breathed into the Scriptures.

God breathed them. So we have Scripture that’s God breathed. So when we read and study the Bible, we’re supposed to breathe out what God breathed in. So, exegesis is breathing out of the scriptures what God put into the scriptures. Understanding and some people will exegete every little word and sometimes the whole thought, sometimes that whole verse, and sometimes the whole chapter, sometimes the whole book. but to get out of the scriptures what God put into the scriptures. So when I hear the word exegesis I think of that drawing out.

But then there’s another word I said Jesus where you’re talking about and I can remember by the word I. Where some people want to put into the scriptures what God didn’t put into the Scriptures. So it’s one thing to get the meaning out of the Word what God’s put into the Word. But some people approach the Bible and try to put their own philosophy, theology, into the book and then try to find Scriptures to prove their point instead of letting the word of God speak and drawing out from it what God could in it.

It’s a lot different than trying to make the Bible say what you wanted to say. There’s some people that just cannot fathom this idea of salvation being by grace, so we know God didn’t mean that because you can’t tell me that you can just trust Christ to save it and that’s all you have to do and you can go to heaven. So it’s because they already know they start on the false premise and then they try to interject that into all the scriptures that says it’s free.

Well, that’s not what he meant. So they want to put into it what God never put there. Well, and the people who say, well, God said, and God didn’t say it. So here in the book of Matthew, if you will take your Bible and turn to the book of Matthew. And in Matthew chapter 24, I want you to see a verse there. In verse 9, you’ll notice there’s a word there. This is Matthew chapter 24 and verse 9. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you and ye shall be hated of all nations.

Now this is a promise that God put in his word. That’s what’s going to happen. It’s predictive. It’s in the future, they’re going to be hated the nation of Israel, of all nations. He also says here in verse 10, then shall many be offended and shall betray one another and shall hate one another. Why is hatred growing so much? We have mamas that don’t love babies and will abort, kill their own babies. That to me is a great sin, it’s a wicked thing, and it’s a shame.

But there’s people who hate, and even in their marriages, husband who hate their wives and wives who hate their husbands, parents that hate their children, children that hate their parents. People go to work every day, hate their boss, or they hate who they work with, hate, hate, hate. And it’s okay in road rage, that’s alright, that’s understandable. Even in church with good godly people, Christians are hating one another, despising one another. Well, why do we have all this hatred?

Because hatred is from the flesh. It’s one of the things that the Bible talks about in the works of the flesh are manifested. Hatred is there. That didn’t come from God. That’s the work of the flesh. But, look what he says in verse 12. and because iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax coal. When you want the freedom to perform the works of the flesh to do whatever you want to do regardless of the sin or the hurt, well it’s because of sin.

And the Bible says here because of iniquity shall abound, love of many shallwax what? Cool. In other words, the more sin, the more crime, the more hate. And so whenever you have people who want to do their own thing, go their own way, it doesn’t lead to love. Only doing what God says, God’s way, loving the Lord will take care of the sin problem. with each other, love one another and people don’t want to do that. So we have in our country and in the whole world this great thing called hatred.

Everybody hating so is the world becoming more loving or more hateful? You know the answer. So there’s only one solution to this problem. If if you’re not going to trust Christ as your Savior and let the love of God work through you so that you’ll learn how to love the way you should because see if I love you and then I’m not going to try to hurt you if I love you I’m going to try to be the right example for you if I love my wife I don’t run around on my wife if I love my kids I try to let them know that and try to be the right kind of a a dad, but when you don’t love, nothing matters.

It’s all about you and protecting you in doing whatever I want to do. All we like sheep, haven’t we really? And that’s about the where we are. And some people, they hate so bad, they never forgive. They have grudges they’re caring for years and years because of hate. Well, how are we going to solve this problem? Well, I’m glad you asked. In Matthew chapter 25, I want you to look there in verse 31, something that God promised that when He comes and sets up His kingdom upon the earth, He’s going to roll with a rod iron.

He’s going to deal with this problem, and there’s going to be restraints upon the people. But if you will, look up here. This is where we’re going to start. This is where we’re going to end. Right here, Christ in glory. You’ve heard Jesus is coming. He’s coming. He was told that in the Old Testament. When Jesus was here, He says, I’m coming. And now we know He came the first time just like He promised. Now He’s going to come the second time just like He promised.

But when he comes here, the Bible says, every I will see him. He’s coming here because he’s going to set up his kingdom upon this earth. This is the kingdom that was promised to all those who went before the cross under the law. They were promised this earthly kingdom. This earthly kingdom is what God was talking about. Where when he comes, the lion and the lamb shall be able to be together, a little child don’t have to worry about the little snakes biting them and poisoning them.

Everything is going to be wonderful. Well that’s the way he intended it. So when he comes back here the Bible says he is going to have the judgment of the nations. You see all those nations here that come against Israel, God is going to judge. Multitudes will be destroyed in the Battle of Armageddon. When it says one taken and one left, one taken and one left, well those that were taken, many are destroyed. They die. But then there’ll be the judgment of the individuals from different nations to see only the believers will go into the kingdom.

The unbelievers will be cast into hell. So there is a judgment of the nations. So, Louis says in verse 31, when the son of man shall come in his glory and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory, and before him shall be gathered all nations. These are reference to the dead. Gentiles, and he shall separate them one from another, and as a shepherd divided his sheep from the goats, and he shall set the sheep on one hand, and the goats on the left, and then shall the king, say unto them on the right hand, come ye blessed to my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”

So we have a story about the king and the kingdom. This is not the head of the church and about the church being caught up in the paradise. This is not about the body of believers who come from the church age. This is not a reference to them. This is talking about the king, the king and his kingdom. So he came because this was supposed to be back here. But as you and I know, the king was rejected. The king was crucified.

And therefore, this kingdom has been moved out into the future. When this takes place, this time period, taken out, and then this will continue just like it would have. have. The kingdom will be set up upon the earth, but it’s about the king and the kingdom. So now we know in studying the book of Matthew, so take your Bible and turn to Matthew chapter 1. Matthew chapter 1, I want to give you just like a pen or a view of various chapters and its content without discussing all the individual things in each chapter.

That would take a while. We might have to be here to Wednesday. So we are just going to take and see some of the highlights so that you understand many people take verses out of context. And exegesis is taking it from that context and what God put in there and not trying to make it say something that it does not say. And so one of the things that many people have a problem with is, well, putting into it opinions and ideas and so forth that God never determined.

That’s not what it’s for. We can take scripture and apply it, but we should say that. There’s usually a primary meaning to the structure of scripture, a definite point of what it’s trying to make. So you can apply many things many ways, as we said before in the book of Romans in chapter 15, that the scriptures, Old Testament, are written for our learning for our admonition. Not all scriptures written to us, but it is all for us. We can learn some things from it.

So you’ll find in Matthew chapter 1 where we have the lineage of the king. It’s talking about how does he have the right declined the throne of Israel. So in chapter 1 it goes through that and tells you look in verse 1 the book of the generation of Jesus Christ the son of David the son of Abraham Abraham begotten blah blah blah goes all the way back and it comes to the place where he’s talking about the lineage of the king.

Luke goes back showing that he has the lineage as a son of man all the way back to Adam, but Matthew doesn’t go back to Adam. It goes back to the promises, the Abrahamic covenant that God had made and how that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment, the seed that came as a result of a promise that God made to Abraham. And then going into David, as David had the promises made that he would have a son that was set upon the throne of Israel forever.

So you don’t take the scriptures in the book of Matthew and apply them back here to the church age. They don’t belong back here. They belong to what God is talking about and how things are going to be when He sets up His Kingdom. So remember the book of Matthew, pictures Jesus Christ as the King, the lion. And in the book of Mark, It pictures Jesus Christ as a servant, the ox, the book of Luke, pictures Jesus Christ, as the man in the book of John, pictures Jesus Christ as God.

So even though he was king, yet he was a servant, and though he was a man, yet he was God. And it takes all four of these books to give you a true composite picture of who is Jesus Christ, and how that he was able to do what he claimed to do and be. So the book of Matthew, he’s the king. He’s the lion from the tribe of Judah. And so you go through Matthew and chapter one, he’s talking about how he is proof that he came from the right line and he is gonna be the king in Israel.

Now look in chapter two. Chapter two is the birth of the king. You see there in verse one, now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judean, the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem saying, where is he that is born, king of the Jews? We’re not talking about the head of the church. That’s a different thing altogether. This is why we believe in dispensational teaching, the dispensation of the grace of God.

We know that’s talking about where we are right here. There’s the dispensation of law, the dispensation of innocence, the dispensation of concepts, how God dealt with people in a particular period of time regarding a particular responsibility and the end results that they always failed. So we know that in every one of these dispensations, and then when you read in the book of Ephesians in chapter one, that in the fullness of the dispensations of time, which is right here, all these dispensations come together and Christ is gonna be here ruling.

You can’t blame anything on anybody. So we have dispensations that are taught in the scriptures. It’s how God deals with people at different times throughout history. and you can’t deny that it’s right there in the book. My name is not Adam, my wife is not Eve, and he did not tell us to go in the tree in the garden, but that one, that’s what he told them. So there’s a lot of things that God says. He didn’t tell me I’m not Moses, I don’t have to go down in Egypt, I’ve been there twice, but I never went down here to tell them, let my people go.

I’ve always wanted to do that like Charles and Heston did over there. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Oh, I love that statement. I even live when your brother stood up and he says, his God is God. Oh, ain’t that powerful? I like that. I’m like, argh, argh. But anyway, as you study in chapter two, it’s talking about the birth of the king. And there was some things that happened that he was to take his son, Joseph, was to take his son, Jesus, down into Egypt and fulfill the scripture that says, out of Egypt have I called my son.

Now chapter three, remember just about every chapter has something that deals with the king and the kingdom. So here in chapter three, it’s the announcement of the king. John the Baptist comes on the same. John the Baptist says, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. See in verse two, and say, and repent ye for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Look up here. When we understand that in the spiritual realm, there is the kingdom of God. In the physical realm, there is the kingdom of heaven.

All those who trust Christ as Savior from beginning to end are born of God, and in the kingdom of God. It’s the spiritual realm, it’s the spiritual birth. So there’s the kingdom of God. When you trust in Christ as you’re saving, you are born into the kingdom of God. Remember what Jesus told Nicodemus? Unless you’re born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God or enter the kingdom of God. It’s a spiritual birth. So there is a spiritual realm.

It’s called the kingdom of God. And everyone who is born of God are in the kingdom of God, the kingdom of light. You’ve been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of life. That’s who you are. That’s where you are now. I am in the kingdom of God, my new birth. It’s a different world all together. Now I got an old birth, so live in this one. Now, this one is a physical kingdom. It’s the king comes from heaven to set up his kingdom upon the earth.

This is the kingdom of heaven, upon the earth. The kingdom of God is a spiritual. This is a physical. So this is why a lot of people don’t get this and keep it clear. Therefore, they get a lot of scripture, the conflicts. But all scripture has to perfectly dovetail. It has to go together. So here he says, the kingdom of heaven is a hand. This kingdom was a hand and he was preaching. Get ready, the king is coming. The king is coming.

He’s coming right after me, and he was to get everybody ready. Have you ever had the house of mess? Company’s coming. Oh no. I remember we have an extra bedroom. And sometime, you know, you put extra stuff in the extra bedroom. And it’s all over the place. That’s where I like my desk. I believe in having a place for everything and everything all over the place. So there’s sometimes it’s all over the place. And Benny says, Yankee, little man and Cheryl’s coming.

She has to find something to put all that other stuff, open up the closet, and hope nobody opened the closet. But you got to get ready. But if you showed up and nothing’s been done, it’s like you weren’t looking for him. Jesus is coming. John the Baptist Priesthood, prepare ye the way of the Lord, get ready. This is the acceptable year of the Lord. We’ve been waiting for this for a thousand years, and He’s coming. If you listen quietly, you can hear the footsteps of the Messiah.

Because in Solomon said that, and He doesn’thattan know the Lord. So you go through here and you have the announcement of the king. The king is coming and he talks about what he’s going to do. Now notice this because God thought it was kind of interesting. When he makes a statement in verse 11, I indeed baptize you with water and to repent. He that came at that to me is mightier than I, who shoes I am not worthy to bear.

He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire, who spanned it in his hand. He will thoroughly purge his floor and gather his weed into the goner, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire which is hell. So you have a right at the very beginning. Hey he’s coming and he’s gonna take the wheat and let him go into the kingdom. He’s gonna take the chaff and he’s gonna take and they’re gonna be cast into the lake of fire.

This is what this king is going to do. But when Jesus Christ comes, He has to be tried, tested. So you look in chapter 4. Chapter 4, you have the leadership preparation of the king. If he can’t stand up against the devil, he wouldn’t be qualified to be the king to do what needs to be done. He wouldn’t be a very good leader because the devil has already got everybody else. He got them to go their own way, do their own thing.

You’d be surprised how many Christians said right now, you already know the Lord, but you’re going your own way. If you’re not going God’s way, you’re going the devil’s way. See the Lord or the devil? If you’re not walking with God, you’re working, walking with the devil. There’s no in between. There’s no purgatory. Christ says, you’re either for me or against me. You’re just going to judge that for yourself. I’m not here to judge anybody this morning. I’ll do that next week.

No. But here he’s talking about, there is in chapter 4, the temptation where Jesus is tested by the devil and he offers him all the kingdoms of the world. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. He’s the son. He’s the king. They all belong to him. So the devil is able in a moment of time to have these flashes of kingdoms upon the earth. And he says, if you’ll fall down and worship me, I’ll give you all of these. And Jesus already knew what he wanted.

And he knew that he is the king. And he may not get it here, but he’s going to get it here. wins so that the king had the king of this world attacking him. And the king of this world thought that he’d unwind the battle when Jesus was crucified, but it was only the beginning. Jesus came back from the dead and what God has promised is going to be fulfilled. We do not believe that the church has replaced Israel.

I believe that what God has for the church, He has for the church, and what God promises Israel, it’s going to happen just like God promised. And that’s in the future coming down the line. Now, look where He says in Matthew chapter 4, He says this in verse 17, from that time, Jesus began to preach and to teach, repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Even at this point, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Jesus was going to set up His kingdom.

He’s formed His cabinet, He’s chosen His leaders, and He’s given them His Constitution in chapter 5, 6, and 7 to let them know this is how we’re going to rule in my kingdom. Well, they’re getting everything ready. But when you read those things and you try to put them into the church, hey, those scriptures don’t fit. It’s not talking about us. It’s putting us under the law. We’re not under the law, but there’s some wonderful things to see. So when he makes a statement here about, follow me and I will make you fishers of men.

You know, I believe there’s a certain time to fish. You know, they have a toad that kind of blows up all the time. We got catfish, they’re slimy. You got jellyfish that don’t have any backbone. And you got mudfish always stirring up the waters. I wonder if we got any fish here today. We’re all fish. But we’ve been caught. And so now God says there’s some things that He wants us to know and to do. So in chapter 5, chapter 5 and 6 and 7 we have the preaching of the king.

The king is going to preach some messages so that help you to prepare and get ready for the kingdom. So he preaches this and he preaches somebody wonderful things. And so you can look at these next three chapters and it really opens up an awful lot. But he’s saying look, under the law, it says, thou shall not commit adultery. But I say unto you, don’t even think about it. what? Now, if he’s here, does he even know what you think about?

We have laws, but aren’t you glad nobody can read your mind, but there’s going to be somebody here who can. And so he goes to and he says something, they’ll shall not, they’ll shall not, but I say unto you, but this is doing the kingdom If a man slaps you on the cheek, what are you supposed to do? Slap him back! You say no, no, no, no, no, turn the other cheek. Somebody said, well, it doesn’t say what to do after that.

That’s like, you know, I’m going to let you shoot me, and then I get to shoot you. Oh, wait a minute. I would like to stop a man before he does the wrong instead of just re-tellying.
