So God is always trying to keep us, His little children, from going astray. So He does what a good loving Father does to keep us close to Him. So therefore, He doesn’t always give you what you want. He doesn’t always say yes, because He knows some things that you want is not the best for you. Now we preach that and it’s so easy for me just to say that. But the application of that is a different story altogether. Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Revelation chapter six.
A book of Revelation in chapter six. There’s a number of scriptures that talks about the wrath of God, but even the wrath of God is designed to draw us closer to the Lord. See in chapter six, a lot of people have already died. You see that in verse nine when he opened up the seal. But I want you to look down there in verse 16. Verse 16 says, “‘And said to the mountains and the rocks, “‘fall on us and hide us from the face of Him “‘that siteth on the throne “‘and from the in you out of underlyingness, “‘rath of the Lamb.'”
Wrath of the Lamb? Now I can understand the wrath of the lion, but what about the wrath of the lamb? Has somebody done something wrong to a lamb? I wonder who this lamb is. This lamb is no doubt the Lord Jesus Christ. And he came into this world. Can you remember what somebody did to this lamb? This lamb was rejected and slaughtered. And the Bible says that he went as a sheep to the slaughter. He opened not his mouth before his shears as though he was dumb and no defense for himself.
He allowed man to do to him anything they wanted to do and if they wanted to slap him, they slapped him. And if they wanted to beat him over the head, then they did it. If they wanted to pull his beard out, they did it. that they wanted to nail him to a cross, they did. And they spit on him and they mocked him and made fun of him. Catenine tails across his back. Think of all the things they did to this lamb, and this was a truly innocent lamb.
I wonder what he’s upset about. Well, you see, ever since then for 2,000 years, he said, go into all the world and tell him what this lamb did for them. And so we preached the message of what Jesus Christ did on the cross and why he died and why he allowed people to do this to him. And then we tell people he did it because he was so good. Christ’s death on the cross demonstrated the goodness of God. God.
It showed the patience of God and how that God did not pour out His judgment upon everybody, that He poured all of that judgment upon His Son, that penalty that you and I should have to pay in Christ’s night for us. So He says, the day of the wrath has come, but He’s pouring out His wrath upon those, not that believed, but those who would not believe because they chose not to believe the truth. Therefore, the scripture tells us in 2 Thessalonians in chapter 2, they would believe a lie because they refused to believe the truth.
It’s to believe the truth or suffer the consequences. So here’s the nation of Israel that said, let his blood be upon us and upon our children. And it has been. And so there’s a price that Israel has paid because of the rejection of Jesus Christ down to the years. And then we have all the nations coming together to fight against that little obit The nation of Israel that said, let his blood be upon us and upon our children. And it has been.
And so there’s a price that Israel has paid because of the rejection of Jesus Christ down through the years. And then we have all the nations coming together to fight against that little obitination of Israel in the future. And God is going to pour out his wrath. But his wrath also upon the nation of Israel. God. God will use them and then God’s going to plot his wrath upon all the Gentile nations. You see, God has, I guess you could say, had enough.
Do you believe that if God judged Sodom and Gomorrah that there is a limit to how much he’s going to tolerate in America? And God’s going to say that’s enough. That’s enough. I don’t know how bad it’s going to be. I don’t know when God’s going to do it, but in studying the Scriptures, God is a just God. He is a righteous God. And people cannot just do whatever they want to do and think there are no consequences. There are grave consequences.
So we see that He’s talking here in verse 17, for the great day of His wrath is come and who shall be able to stand. chapter 9. Chapter 9, He’s warning them, He’s telling them the day of His wrath has come and in spite of all of this. He’s got 144,000 preaching Jewish evangelists all over the world. Then He has an angel flying in the midst of the heaven preaching the everlasting gospel. And then there’s chapter 7, chapter 14 of Revelation, multitude of people that were killed in the tribulation, and period that trusted Christ is their Savior.
So many, many people would believe on the Lord and believe in the goodness of God how good it is for the Lord to make a payment for my sins that I did not earn, don’t deserve, and it’s by grace and grace alone. But woe to those individuals who spurn such love, the consequences, how bad it’s going to be, for all eternity because they would not yield to the love of God and trust Christ of their Savior. I think about all those churches throughout the world of where there’s people trying to earn their way to heaven by their good deeds and will not simply trust Christ as their Savior.
Truth or consequences. And it won’t matter how sincere they are. None of that matters is that there’s consequences to rebellion, not to believe on the Lord. So he makes the statement down here in verse 20. And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues, yet get this repented knot of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils and idols of gold and silver and brass and stones and of wood, which neither can see nor hear nor walk.
These things are a waste of time, but there’s people who worship false gods. And God pours out His judgment upon the earth. They’re told, they’re warned, and yet they will not change their mind. And trust the only true and living God that there is. Look at the very next verse where He says, neither repented they. So that must be what God is after. He even pours out His wrath upon the earth because He’s still being patient with people. He could He could have just now laid them all together, but He’s given them time.
Won’t you believe? Won’t you listen? Because the consequences of your rebellion is going to be for all eternity. To me it’s like God pleading, pleading with people to hear the gospel message. And He says, repent of the day of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their theft. All these things that are in here. Now look in chapter 15, chapter 15 of the book of Revelation. And you’ll notice here in verse 1, verse 1 says, and I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous.
7 angel, heaven to 7 last plagues, for in them is filled up the wrath of God. Now he hasn’t poured out those 7 vials, those 7 bowls of judgment yet he’s getting ready to do it. You would think by now, after the Antichrist has done all this damage that he’s done and how he’s lied to everybody, promised them so much they could see through it. But when people are blind, but if they’re really blind, they cannot see and don’t understand.
Just look right there where he says in verse 10 of chapter 14. And look what he says in this verse. In verse 10, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation, and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb and the smoke of their torment ascended up forever and ever. And they have no rest day nor night who worship the beast and his image and whosoever receiveeth the mark of his name.
That’s what happens to people who do not believe on Jesus Christ, who will not trust Jesus Christ as their Savior. And they shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God in a literal fire burning hell for all eternity. And God is doing all that he can to get people to do it without going against their will. He’s working in the lives of all of these people, every person upon the earth with his goodness and with his wrath to bring people to him.
And yet in spite of all of that, they won’t listen. So is God going to be unjust when he passed them into a literal hell. People will judge God and God must be judged, and they will judge him, but he will be judged by the unjust. God is the judge that will judge them. But there’s people who say, if I could just get my day in court, I want to face God, and so they will have their chance and God has all the evidence that He needs because He keeps books on every individual.
And whatever decision God makes, it’s final. And you see, they don’t go to this judgment to find out if they made it. No, it’s to determine the amount of punishment they were receiving hell. So in the last part of verse 11 of chapter 16, it says, and they repented not of their deeds. They They did not listen. They did not change their money. It did not wake them up, and yet it could have and should have. But some people never learn.
Take your Bible and turn to John chapter 3 and verse 36. John chapter 3, Gospel of John. You might not have known that there’s a verse over here that talks about the wrath of God. John chapter 3 verse 36, he that believeth on the son, hath what? Hath everlasting life. If you believe on the son, that means you’re trusting Christ as your Savior. What do you have? Everlasting life. And look at the next part, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life but the wrath of God, a biteth on him.
Look up here, because every man is sinned, the wrath of God abides on every man. A man who will accept the payment Christ made for him is free from the wrath that is to come because Christ took our wrath for us. But those who will not accept Christ as their Savior, the wrath of God abides upon them all this time before that person leaves this world, reveals the goodness of God and all the things that happens in their life that brings that heartache and that sorrow to wake them up, to see how dangerous it is, to see that they get a little bit of a taste of what hell is like on earth.
What heaven is like so you’ve got a little goodness and you’ve got a little hell in your life to help you to wake up and realize if I reject the love of God, I am going to have the wrath of God fall. And so he says here in verse 36, He that believeth not the Son shall not see life means not have eternal life, but the wrath of God abideth upon him. Now that’s what the book says. Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Revelation in chapter 20.
The book of Revelation in chapter 20. You will notice it’s about believing the truth or suffering the consequences. Look what he says in verse 15, And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire, the final wrath of God. All right. When we talk about the book of life, remember there’s some other books. And if you look there in verse 12 where he says, and I saw the dead, small and great stand before God.
And the books were open and another book was open, which is the book of life and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works. So when you read that, it gives the appearance at the end of life, everybody stands in front of this judge, and he has his scales out there. He opens up the book, and if your good works out where you’re bad, then you get to go in.
But if you’re bad outweighs, you’re good, then you go down. So a lot of people naturally can draw that conclusion from this verse. But these verses is not to determine the destination. That’s already been determined. Because you see, when he talks about there’s the book of living, when you and I are born into this world, we are in the book of the living. And your name can be brought out of the book of the living, when you know one who is living.
But the book of life is a different book altogether. That’s the Lamb’s book of life. So you see, I have been born twice. when I was born in this world, I am in the book of the living. And when I trusted Christ as my Savior, my name is in the Lamb’s book of life. So when you study the Old Testament, the first book in the Bible, the book of Genesis chapter 5, this is the book of the generation of Adam.
And it names all those people and they all die, they all die, they all die. But come to the book of Matthew, the first book in the New Testament, this is the book of the generation of Jesus Christ. And there’s no deaths recorded. Two different books. Moses says to the Lord, brought me out of my book. That’s this book because he was talking about annihilating the children of Israel and starting over with him. He’s an honor. You’re going to kill me.
No, no. So you can’t be blotted out of the book of life. In Revelation chapter three, verse six talks about, I will not bought your name out of the book of life. When the disciples came back after they had went out and did a little sewing and a little healing and a few things like that, they’ve come back and also huffed up that they could cast out demons and all. He says, Rejoice in that your names are written in the land book of life.
See there’s the book of life. So now at the end of time at the Great White Throne judgment, these people who have never trusted Christ’s Savior, all the lost people are going to stand before God Himself. And God is going to open up the books, these books, and prove to them because they’re going to be judged out of these books where God has kept the books. And He will convince every one of them because of everything they said thought did.
And I believe that might even be possible that there might even be some witnesses there like you and I. Bob, come over here. Did you talk to this person? Yes, sir. On this date, in this place, and blah, blah, blah, blah, Bob, you come over here. Didn’t you talk to this individual? Didn’t you talk to witnesses? I believe that God is going to use all the evidence against every individual because God is going to be just when that person is cast into hell.
And these are judged out of the books of the living accorded because they never trusted Christ the Savior. So then He makes a statement there in verse 13. And the sea gave up the dead, which were in it, death and hell. That means the bodies and the souls coming together, which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. See, there’s religions, people in all kind of churches who want to save themselves by their good works.
And they believe that how they lived would good enough that they never trusted Christ as their Savior. And therefore, God is going to show by their works, even those religious people who never really trusted Christ as Savior. So by their works, they will see their works for nothing but filthy ranks. And he will profess, I never knew you, depart from me.” You wicked into everlasting fire. That’s what’s coming. That’s what makes this portion of the Scriptures from the Word.
Now look in verse 14. And death and hell, that’s everybody that stood at this judgment. Death and hell cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life cast into the lake of fire. So the book of life is those who have trusted Christ’s Savior. These that are being judged never trusted the Lord. And so the wrath of God upon him, but was God just? Was God fair?
Did he give people time? Did he give them a chance? Some people are alive only because God has been patient with them and because of the goodness of God, not because they deserve to live a little bit longer. God’s not willing that anybody should perish. But God gives people time and chances. And they’re going to stand before God one day and God’s going to show them, look, I gave you all these years. I sent this missionary. I sent this preacher to die to see you.
I had this person talk to you on the job. They gave you tracks. They gave you a Bible. They preached it. You heard. I know what you heard. You can’t say, well, I never heard God said, I know what you heard. we have truth or suffer the consequences. Our work is so important because one day we may have to testify in court of divine justice. You don’t have to remember God will quicken your mind. Don’t worry about that. Probably on every person we’ve ever witnessed, every track we’ve ever given out, every prayer we made, every contact.
And God knows how we hurt sometimes, and we are supposed to have that same feeling toward the lost man God has toward the lost man. That’s why we put up with an awful lot of stuff. That’s why we don’t have to fight back. That’s why we let people do to us whatever they want to do to us because it really doesn’t matter. One day it will be worth it all and God’s going to use you in a great way and We may all have to testify in court someday Yes, I talked to them No, they would not believe And I believe there’s going to be a lot of tears shed in God says he shall wipe away all tears from our eyes Then there must be tears for some reason When we see loved ones and people who are not believe It’s enough to break your heart.
But think of how the Lord must feel, that everything He does, and people can’t see the hand of God at all in anybody’s life, even in their own. And every time I look to anybody, I see God’s hand everywhere because I know how He works. But when you don’t know how he works, then you can’t see some things. Look up here. This hand represents you and me. This wallet represents sin. All of us are sinners. The Bible says that God loves us, but he hates our sin.
Because of this sin, God is totally justified to end it right there and owe us no explanation and do nothing for us. He is a God of love. So to show His love, He has to have patience. So He did something for us that we couldn’t do for ourselves. We could not save ourselves. So He sent a Savior to the world. You see, God loves and hates our sin, but the wages of sin is death, eternal separation from God.
That’s where we are. All we like sheep have gone astray, we want to do our own thing or our own way, and we don’t want God bothering us. But to go to heaven, you have to be perfect. We’re not gonna stay here for long. We’re only here for a short period of time, short period of time. This lady that just passed away yesterday, she was 81 years old, but you know, 81 years old, like that. I ought to know, I got 73 and they just like that.
How long have you been alive? It’s just like that. And one of the days we’re gonna be out of here God says, you cannot save yourself, you cannot work your way to heaven. So God is keeping the books on every man’s work to convince a person, even all those religious people who mean well, sincere. We’re trying to save themselves by their works and it cannot save them. All their works condemn. This end represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh, came into the world because he loves us, hates our sin because it separates us from him.
So Jesus Christ who had no sin didn’t have to die. He took all of our sins upon him and the wrath of God smit his own son. He came back from the dead. God said, if we would accept this death payment He had that He made, then we would be free from the condemnation of the law. We would have no sins to pay for it. We get to go to heaven because He paid for my sins. I don’t deserve this.
All this is because of the goodness of God. God’s grace, God’s mercy. If a person rejects this payment. There’s nothing left but the wrath of God. He says, if you’ll just believe that what he did, he did it for you. And we get to go to heaven and we can know that we have eternal life. Best news in all the world. Very shall we? With head bow nice, close, and no one looking around. I know that most of you here, you already heard the gospel, mall to dudes at times, but never know for sure when somebody might walk in, never really understood.
So right now in the quietness of this moment, don’t you want to be certain that you’re going to heaven? Have you been trusting your good life? You go to church. You know, you try to behave fairly decent, you know, but you realize that won’t help. It doesn’t even help. Don’t harden yourself by rebelling again. By grace. It’s free. So in the quietness of this moment, I’m not going to have you forward. I’m not going to embarrass you. Right where you’re sitting.
Would you say that made sense to me? And right now I want to trust Christ as my Savior. I’m praying to life, pray for me. Just real quickly, just slip it up, put it right back down. That’s all you have to do. Just let me know that what I said made sense. Not going to embarrass you. It wasn’t at all. If you’re watching by internet, it says, yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior. If you will, we’d love to hear from you.
Father, we thank you again for your blessings. We’re so thankful that you have written these things in your word so that we can know and understand. We probably never will fully get it all, but we’re going to get the jest of it. We’re so thankful that you do love us, that you have been patient with us. Lord, if you took me out when I was 17, I’d have been in hell. But you gave me another year. I’m so thankful.
And Lord, I’m also thankful for the years that since then that you’ve given me an opportunity to tell others about it. Thank you for all the people here, all the work they do, the sacrifices they make. We know it’ll be worth it. In Christ’s name we pray. Are you a new listener to Bibleline?
