We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ and that today’s concluding message of this teaching will be a blessing to you and your family. In the first verse that we have mentioned there, we won’t turn to it. Genesis chapter 20 verse 11 says, the neighbor said, because I thought, surely the fear of fear of God is not in this place and they will slay me for my wife’s sake. Abraham, the friend of God, a man that followed God and then he lied and somebody was going to take his wife because that’s just my sister.
Lara Lara pants on fire and God had to intervene. He said I afraid because they don’t have the fear of God. And when you don’t fear God, you don’t fear sin. See, the more we fear God, the more we hate evil. In the reason the people in America don’t fear evil is because they don’t fear God. So he says here in Deuteronomy in chapter 28, looking verse 65, 28 verse 65. And among these nations, shout thou find no ease.
Neither shall the soul of thy foot have rest. But the Lord shall give thee their a trembling heart and failing of eyes and sorrow of mine. This is because he says, now let me take you in advance. He tells him in advance, if you don’t trust me. If you don’t listen to me, if you don’t heed what I’m telling you, I want to cast you out of the land. But if you listen to me, I’ll put you in the land and I’ll not put any of the diseases upon you.
People are worried now about this Zika virus, these diseases. Did you realize if God’s people, if our nation, if we did write, God would protect us, but But because of sin, all these things come. And now after a while, all we do is work to pay the insurance premium on our health policies. Anyway, look at this. In verse 60, he says, Moreover, he will bring upon the all the diseases of Egypt which thou was afraid of. You see, even in the book of Job, he was afraid that his children may have disobeyed God.
So he made sacrifices and intervened for them because he knew that maybe his kids were not doing right. And then later on it says, that which I feared has come upon me, afraid. We used to play golf and makes it, you know, there’s a ditch out there about 200 yards. And so we’d look at each other and say, you’re going to go for it, you’re going to lay up. So I think I’ll lay up. I said, well, if you’re a feared, say you’re a feared.
feared say you’re a feared. He said, where are you going to? I said, I’m a feared. So sometimes we are afraid of the things that are coming. And then notice what he says in verse 66, and thy life shall hang in doubt before thee, and thou shalt fear day and night, and shall have none assurance of thy life. You see this is God’s said, this is what I’m gonna let you think. Did you know that God can allow you to let the fears of this world so dominate your mind that it can destroy your life?
When God wants you to serve them with all your heart, you’d be surprised how much you have limited the Holy One and greed the heart of God by not trusting Him because we allow the fears, the things of this world, the fear of failure that God won’t come through. I would rather die trusting him. He failed me, didn’t let him fail me. But now look at this. He said in verse 67, in the morning thou shalt say, would God it were evening?
And at evening thou shalt say, would God it were in the morning? For the fear of thine heart were with thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes was thou shalt see. So God warned. They did warn. Look at the next statement. I want you to look down here and see this. Some of these other ones you can read. The one in Exodus 14, 13, we’ll just take a look at it right there in your notes. And Moses said unto the people, fear you not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you this day for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them again no more forever.
Question. Who was the one that led them to this point of desperation? You see God told Moses, Tell O’Feyro let my people go. See, I knew that’s the way it was because, see, I watched the movie Ten Commandments with Charles and Heston. And he went in there and he told O’Feyro, You old breeder, let my people go. New old Brener says, I, well, not. So there was a knockdown drag out. After about ten of these things they went through, Moses got the people of Israel and let them out.
and let him right into a dead end. Right into a river in front of them, the sea and army behind them, mountains on each side and they’re all boxed in. Who led them there? It was the Lord. Did the Lord know in advance? What was it, stake? Yes. Did he know they were gonna be afraid? Yes, they knew they were gonna be afraid. And so some of them said, you brought us out here to destroy us. Kill us in the wilderness.
And so Moses, Charles from Heston stood up and he says, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. And that’s exactly how he said it because I remembered. So you have this fear that God knows you’re going to have. There’s things that can cause you to be afraid of a lot of things in world. But always put God first, put God first and trust the Lord. There’s not a one of you in this room I don’t believe does ever lived with more fear than what I have because I say what I have to say.
I do what I have to do. I run a risk and I know that. Do you think I love my wife? You think I love my kids? You think I love this ministry? Am I still responsible to tell you the truth? either I like it or I don’t, or one of the consequences may be. We’re studying right now in Sunday school in the book of Acts. Well that’ll bless your little peep-picking heart. And what they were told not to do, and they did it anyway because God told them to do it.
The Lord will bless. Look at the very next one, Numbers 14-9 says, only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land. afraid, for they are bred for us, their defenses departed from them, and the Lord is with us, feared them not.” What? Because it’s natural to be afraid. We live in a world where people want to do us harm. And don’t be afraid of those things. Dining Joshua chapter 10, now if you get a chance, you ought to read the first chapter in the book of Joshua.
As I was with Moses, so will I be with you. Only be thou strong and very courageous. Oh, I love that. And he says here, be strong and very courageous. If you’re not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage. Because you see, you don’t need courage if you’re not afraid. There’s this frayed of you’re gonna get hurt. Something’s gonna go wrong. I have had to face it all the time. Isn’t it possible that we could make decisions here as a church?
And you could follow my leadership and it totally be a bomb. And what would you think about me then? If it succeeds, boy that Yankee is a man of faith. But if it goes sour, the bomb throw the guy at it. I knew he was no good. No, you would never think that because you love me. You know I love you. So you trust me. But I’m smart enough to know not everybody does. Not everybody loves the preacher. And believe it or not, there might even be some people the preacher doesn’t love.
But I don’t know who they are. So I guess all of you, I do. Look at these. There’s some wonderful verses there. You’ve got enough here to feed your soul on, that you don’t have to live your life in fear. You’re not going to be able to eliminate all the fear. Didn’t in the 14th chapter of the gospel of John Jesus said, be not afraid. You believe in God, believe also in me. If it wasn’t true, I would have told you.
In my father’s house, there are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you. That where I am there, you may be also. He’s on the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me. Why did he tell his disciples that? Because they’re afraid. What do you think they were doing after Jesus came back from the dead? Hiding in an upper room with the doors locked? Not why were they doing that because of fear of the Jews?
So they were afraid. Do you think you’re going to live your Christian life without fear at all? Then there’s no need for courage. There’s no need to trust the Lord. But there is this fear that grips your soul sometimes. And sometimes you’re just plain afraid. But it can rob you. Fear, half. What? Torment. Say that with me. Fear hath torment. And you’d be surprised how many Christians torture themselves. They torture themselves to death with fear. And I can’t do this why because I’m afraid.
I can’t do that because I’m afraid. I can’t do that because I’m afraid. And fear paralyzes that you don’t do what God once you do. That’s why God says over and over again, trust the Lord. Fear not. Now, turn your page over, just say, I already did. Close the follow the preacher. You have heard this verse all your life, the 23rd Psalm, where it says, Yay, though I walk to the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear everything.
Oh, what did he say? I will fear no evil. Why? For a thou art with me. Did you forget that? Did you forget that? I will fear no evil for thou art with me. You see, this is why he says in the 26th chapter of Book of Isaiah, he says, thou will keep him in perfect peace, his mind is stayed. And when You get your mind off the Lord and you get your eyes on the world. You’d be surprised how fear can grasp your whole of your soul.
You remember a person by the name of Peter. He was in a boat with some of the disciples. And lo and behold, they saw Jesus walking on the water. Remember what Peter said? Lord bid me come and let me, I want to walk on the water. So he got out of the boat and he walked on the water. You know what the other cycle said I could have done that I Was just getting ready to do that But they didn’t do that I Wonder why they didn’t do that why They was a feared and Whenever he started walking on the water the Bible says he took his eyes and he saw the storm He saw all the waves and the Bible says he became afraid And you know what it said?
Fear of cost. But he wanted something so bad. He was afraid not to do it. He believed. He trusted. But just because you trusted the Lord yesterday, doesn’t mean you’re trusting Him totally today. Now you may have eternal life and God will never take that away. And isn’t it wonderful that you can live 20, 30, 40, 50 years of your life and never doubt your salvation? Because you know it’s free. You know he guaranteed it. And yet you wonder from day to day, can God give me a hamburger?
Can God supply my needs? We’ve got people that have had prayer requests since I’ve been here. They’ve had prayer requests since I’ve been here. Praying about something all the time. It’s like always in the crisis. It’s like they’re going through their real life Indiana Jones. You know one calamity after another, always something. And a lot of you like that. You go for one problem to the next problem to the pray for the pray, pray, pray, pray, pray. And we want people to pray because we know we’re limited.
And sometimes we’re afraid that sometimes it’s not going to come through. And it may not sometime. But we have to trust the Lord and accept whatever the results may be that he is. One of these days, all of us know we’re all going to die. Price to Terry, we’re going to die. And I don’t care about all your prayers, you’re not going to live forever. The Lord helped me to live to be 500 years old. I got to hunch, he ain’t going to answer that prayer.
Always these fears. Look what he says in the next verse. Psalms 27 and 1, A Psalm of David. the Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding have all they that do His commandments, His praise and dearth forever. Proverbs 1-7.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, fools despise wisdom and instruction. Learn to have a high, holy, repurential respect for God. I do fear God. But I serve Him because I love Him, but I know that if I don’t love Him, fear is a torturous thing. And it’ll keep me from doing what I should do. I don’t want the chastisement of God. I had a Father who chastised me. I know what whoopings are all about. I was beaten within an inch of my life, died several times.
But you’re going to get whooped. I don’t want my heavenly Father having to whoop me. I would rather have him bless me. So the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Look at Proverbs 29, 25 here. The fear of man bringeth a snare. But who so put it, his trust and the Lord shabby, I didn’t write it. I’m just telling you what it says. You’ve got a problem with the word of God that’s between you and God.
But I have a responsibility what it says anyway. And the next one, it cleans the assis chapter 12. You want to read that whole 12th chapter. When the Bible talks there about, you know, you can’t see out the windows anymore. And your grinders are few and you can’t chew like you used to anymore. And the body has been over and it’s frail and it can’t go like it used to anymore. One of the days he just simply says, hey, you’re going to die.
12th chapter, Ecclesiastes. But down there in this verse he says, let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God. Keep His commandments. But this is the whole duty of man. For you and I that no Christ is Savior, we should learn to serve the Lord with all our heart. You see, I’m afraid to step out. I’m afraid. Some of you sitting right here, you ought to be in Bible college. You ought to be in Bible college. preparing for the ministry.
The lost man do what the lost man can do and the child of God do only what a child of God can do. But you say, I’m afraid. I don’t have any money. I don’t have money on the meat of my needs. I don’t know how you’re gonna do it either. I don’t care how you do it. You just better make sure that if God is putting up on your heart, you better do what you know God wants you to do.
You should want them afraid to. I’d be afraid not to. I am at this stage of my life. I am afraid to retire. I thought about it, but I’m afraid to retire. God, I think I know too much. I think there’s too much that I can do yet. And when I can’t do it, then I won’t do it. But as long as I can, as long as God gives me the voice to speak with, I want to speak with all my heart until there’s nothing left to give.
When I don’t have a pulse, there’s not a heartbeat. Then finally, I’m ready to retire. Now I may do it next week, who knows it’s it’s it’s it’s but understanding the whole duty of what God does. Look in the eyes of the 2913 right there in your notes. Look at what he said. Wherefore the Lord said for as much as this people draw near me with their mouth and with their lips to honor me and have removed their heart far from me and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men.
Afraid to trust the Lord because you listen to what somebody says, I’ve had people say when I first started, how do you know God wants you to go to Bible college? I couldn’t explain. I don’t know. I remember sitting one time, a camp we had here, sitting in the golf cart with a guy named Jesse Martinez. I said, you need to go to Bible college. Now what if I had never told him to go to Bible college? You realize the possibility He might not have gone to Bible college.
And then we started our public college. Now, you’ve seen and you watched him as he matures since he’s been here. Don’t you think that’s been a good decision he made? But what if he hadn’t? There’s the fear he gave up a job. He was working at some bank. I don’t know what it was, some bank. Think of all that money he could have had. It wouldn’t have been here. It belongs to the bank. But does that mean you’re not going to have fear?
How is God going to whatever it is? You fill it in. How is God going to? You’ve ever heard of the word trust to believe? There’s a thin line between faith and foolishness. And I haven’t figured it all out yet. Because if you do it and it succeeds, great faith. If you don’t make it, you fool. And some people are afraid of being called a fool. I’d rather be a fool for Christ’s sake. I’d rather attempt and fail than never attempt at all.
I thought about it many times. What if the fear that I had would have kept me from going to Bible college? What if I’d have been so afraid I wouldn’t have done it? But I was afraid not to do it because I can’t explain it to anybody why I did. And I know that there’s other people. You don’t want You don’t want to be a person who just warms the pew all your life. Maybe God could use you to be a pastor here or a pastor here.
I’ve gotten three or four requests this week of people who want somebody to come to their place. He says, is there anybody else like you? I’m just telling you what they said. Maybe all of you didn’t hear that and I had to repeat it. How many didn’t hear what I said? Oh, one, there’s one. said, is there anybody else like you? Did everybody hear that now? But that’s what they said. Somebody who was clear on the gospel. There’s a lot of preachers, but they’re not clear on the gospel.
And you know enough about the Word of God, teach them the Word of God, stick with the Word. Preach the Word. Look what else he says here in Isaiah 33, 6 says, and wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy time and strength of salvation. The fear of the Lord is His treasure. Is this treasure? Isn’t that wonderful? Fear thou not for I am with thee. 2 Corinthians 7 and 1 talking about perfecting fear and the holiness and the fear of God.
Wonderful things to think about. So very, very important. Look up here. Did you know that I’m afraid not to do this? I’m afraid not to do this. You say, do what? Do the wall of the illustration? Why? Because I believe it’s the best thing that anybody could ever hear. And I believe that I’ll have to answer the God why I didn’t do it. So that fear of God is greater than, well, here he goes again. That’s all he knows.
You’d be surprised how many times I’ve heard that. All he knows is the gospel. Take away his wallet and he couldn’t preach. You’d have all my money too. Look up here. This hand represents you and me. The wallet represents sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us. He hates our sin, but he loves us. When you and I, we have a debt to pay, which is eternal separation from God in hell. God said, I love you. I want you to go to heaven.
But to go to heaven, you’ve got to be perfect. No sin. So we can’t get in. So the Bible says you cannot earn eternal life. You can’t work your way to heaven. So how am I going to get there? We’re all in the same boat. There’s none right, just no not one. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh. Came into the world because he loves us. our sins. And so He took all of the sins and paid it all.
Came back from the dead and said, the only thing He wants us to do is believe He did it for us. So when I believed it, He saved me. When you believe it, He saves you. This payment is put to your account. He loves you that much. And if you accept this payment, you have a payment for all of your sins. If I have a payment for all of my sins, it means I have no sins to pay for.
It means that I have no reason to go to hell. I can’t go to hell. All my sin is repaid. I don’t have the fear that when I die, that even a possibility I could go to hell. So that peace of mind, that joy, is because I believe the promise of God. And when you believe that he gives you eternal life, you go to heaven on what he did for you. That’s good news. If you have trusty Christ as your savior and your God’s child, God wants you to learn how to trust him.
God knows you’re afraid. God knows you’re afraid to witness. You’re afraid to give funds for various things because you think about, well, how am I gonna pay this or how am I gonna pay that? It’s over fear, it can take its toll upon you. There’s some people that just learn to trust the Lord and it doesn’t matter, they just do it. But that’s because they’ve been walking with the Lord for a while. If you’re walking with the Lord and you stumble over this and stumble over that because of a fear, they’ve been afraid.
Put your confidence in the Lord. Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed upon thee. Learn to trust the Lord. And love casts out fear. Fear has torment. And I don’t want you to be tortured. I have been tortured a little bit over all my life because I have this natural fear of my old sinful nature that wants me not to trust the Lord. wants me to deny God the right to use me. And I want to be used.
So I’m afraid that I will not be used if I don’t love him like I should. And that fear of the Lord is greater than the fear of man. Let’s pray, shall we? With every head bowed and every eye closed, no one looking around. If you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, or if you’re watching by internet today, Right where you are, if you trust Christ as your Savior, He gives you as a free gift everlasting life. He said, He’ll never cast you out, never lose you.
You can know that you’re going to heaven. Would you trust Him? I’m going to ask you in just a moment to raise your hand, raise your hand, and save you. It just lets me know that what I said makes sense to you. I’d like to have prayer for you. Is there any other law before we close? Yes, preacher, that made sense to me. I want to know I have eternal life and I like you to pray for me in closing.
Is there anyone at all? Just slip it up or rub it down. If you’re watching by the internet right on the screen and says, yes, I will trust the Lord. I pray that you will. You that have already trusted the Lord, I don’t know who I’m talking to every morning, who really the message is for. Hopefully it’s for everybody. But there may be a particular need that you had. And you have a little fear about trusting God for something.
If you say, preach, I need special prayer today. I really do. I do have some fears. I want to trust the Lord. I want God’s will for my life. And I appreciate it if you’d have the church pray for me. So we’ll hit by a nice close. No one will look around. If you say, I need extra prayer, I do have some fears. I’ve had them. I go to it. Would you just slip your hand up very quickly and put it right back down?
Just God bless you and you and others. Yes, there’s many hands, many hands. Anyone else before we close? Would you, as a body of believers, would you pray for one another? And especially those that indicated by a nup raised hand, we don’t always know what each other’s facing. We know they have heartaches and troubles, a lot of care. Sometimes they produce a little fear. Would you pray for them? Father, we do thank you so much for all that you’ve done for us.
And Father, as long as we’re in this flesh, as Paul says, with fear and trembling. But Lord, we pray that you will be done as we look to you and trust you. We want to serve you with all our heart. And there’s many here this morning that needs a little extra help to put their confidence and trust in you because there are cares of the world and there’s fears. And sometimes it’s because of medical issues or financial, just any kind that can cause us this fear.
But Lord, we know according to You, we’re a perfect love cast out fear. We pray that our love for You would continue to mature. We thank You so much for all You’ve done for us. of this church, good people, and Christ never came. Are you a new listener to Bibleline? Do you enjoy the teachings of Dr. Arnold?
