Come on in and have a seat, take your Bible, And let’s go to the book of Romans. We’ve been covering a few things in the book of Romans, and we’re up to chapter 11, and there’s a few, seems a little on the, well, hard to understand, but they’re really not. When you put it in its context, a lot of the things that we’re looking at in the book of Romans is based in the Old Testament and promises that God had made to the nation of Israel and to the seed.

But not everyone who is born of Israel is the seed. The promise is to those who have trusted Christ as Savior. And so all the way down through time God has always had a remnant of the people that believe on Him. And so now that the church ages here, what about the nation of Israel? Has God set Israel aside and totally, you know, cast them away? And so in Romans in chapter 9 it makes the statement, has God cast away His people which He foreknew?

No, He has not cast them away. God still loves the nation of Israel, but they have rejected the Messiah and because they rejected Messiah, then the disciples that were to Jerusalem and in Sumerian, Judean and othermost parts of the year, well Israel as a nation rebelled against the Lord. So the gospel was taken to the Gentiles and all around the world and so God says he’s taken these remnant of the believing Jews and they were baptized by the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.

Then in chapter 10 you have Gentiles that were baptized by the Holy Spirit and so they are both into one body. Jews and Gentiles baptized into one body. So we say that from Pentecost which is 50 days from the resurrection of Christ. Until Christ comes for us, the Rapture, all believers in this period of time is called the Body of Christ, the Church Age. And so we are separate. That does not annul the promises that God made to the nation of Israel.

So we do not believe in the replacement theology where the church has replaced all the promises that God made to Israel and they blew it so it all applies to us now. No. There are special things that God has given to us as the church and we are a heavenly people and the Jewish people are an earthly people. God has promised them they can come upon the earth and they will have that. So there is a remnant of believers.

So you look there in verse 23 when he talks about the Jews and the Gentiles. Why were the Jewish people set aside was because of their unbelief? And why were the Gentiles grafted in? Well, because of their belief. So because you believe or don’t believe is a choice that you and I make. But that doesn’t mean that Jewish people cannot be saved, there is a remnant individual Jewish people who still trust Christ as Savior. We are privileged to have one of them in our church.

Jay is a Jew, but God loves the Jew just as much as he does the Gentile. But I’m not a Jew. He is. I wasn’t my name, I’m a Jew, but I’m a boy. I’m a Gentile. Now notice what else she says here. So in verse 23 and they also if they abide not still in unbelief shall be grafted in. For God is able to graft them in again. So the day will come when God is going to take out the church and then the Jewish people will be grafted in again.

But it’s only because they will believe the gospel. And so after the church is taken out of here, there is the tribulation period upon the earth. Now the tribulation period upon the earth is part of a period of time called the times of the Gentiles which started back in Babylon’s time, would never connoisseur the times of the Gentiles. And so it mentions many of the kingdoms in advance. But now the fullness of the Gentiles is a different period of time.

So we have the fullness of the Gentiles is the during the church age from Pentecost to the Rapture. That’s the fullness of the Gentiles. So that time is going to end at the end of the tribulation period when all nations, Gentile nations are all gathered together to destroy the nation of Israel, well that’s the ending of the times of the Gentiles. So from Babylon until that period of time Israel has been out of the land without a king and so on.

But the king did come but he was rejected. So Israel is in their land today but they’re in unbelief and they do not have a king. So in understanding that, now look in970 verse 25, for I would not brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, that you should be wise in your own conceits. That blindness in part is happened to Israel and get it until the fullness of the Gentiles become in. Now God has a time limit.

I don’t know when it will be, how many people it will be, or if that’s even an issue. I just know that God works according to schedule and that there’s a time, and I believe very soon, it will end the fullness of the Gentiles. When God has those that will make up the body of Christ, the rapture will take place and we will be taken out of here. Now look at the next verse where you see there, and so all Israel shall be saved as it is written, there shall come out of Zion the deliver and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.

So the day is coming when Israel will be grafted in again to the original olive trunk from which is Christ. So that’s mentioned about something that’s gonna take place. Now I want you to take your Bible and just turn to the book of Acts in chapter 15, the book of Acts and chapter 15. They had a meeting of all the elites, the apostles in Jerusalem because of not only the persecution, but because there were legalistic Judaizers that were trying to put the new believers under the law and telling them that you had to keep the law to be saved, keep the law to stay saved.

And so they were teaching air and therefore they called for a meeting in Jerusalem. So when they came to Jerusalem and had this meeting, they came to conclusions that they really don’t have to keep the law and that there was no demands put upon them except they didn’t want them to eat, you know, drink blood and so forth. Now notice what he says here in the 15th chapter. Look what he says in verse nine, and put no difference between us and them.

Us and them is Jews and Gentiles, purifying their hearts by faith. Now therefore, why tempts God to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear. In other words, for all those years, 1500 years, no one were able to bear the yoke to keep the law. They all failed. And then in verse 11, but we believe that through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we shall be saved, gentile, even as they, Jews.

And in the reference here, he’s talking about we, Talking to the Jewish people there where James was the pastor, probably of the church. We Jews will be saved just like the Gentiles. But the Gentiles are being saved just like the Jews were supposed to be and are saved. So even though the nation is a whole rejected Christ, doesn’t mean that individuals could not. Because when you get right down to it, the first Christians were all Jewish believers. The apostles were Jewish, the day of Pentecost, about 3000 so on.

So it began to branch out, not take your Bible and turn to the book of Isaiah chapter 66. It’s over there, Old Testament Isaiah 66. There’s a couple verses that I want you to see there. Isaiah chapter 66. And there’s some promises made about the kingdom going to be set up upon the earth. And so it makes a statement there in verse 8 about some of the things that are going to take place. But it gets into the choices that people make.

You’ve got to choose. So even in the Old Testament they were told about their choices, choices, choose. So I want you to look at this here first of all. Look there in in verse three. He that killeth in ox is as if he slew a man. He that sacrifices the lamb as if he cut off a dog’s neck. He that offers oblation as if he offered swine’s blood. He that burneth incense as if he blessed the nital. Yet they have chosen their own ways.

You ought to underline, they have chosen their own way. Israel has made decisions. And even the sacrifices they were trying to make, the thing that we’re doing. It was an abomination to the Lord. And Christ was there. And in verse 4, I also will choose their delusions. Now you’ve heard me say some time, even after you trust Christ to save you. You may choose whatever sin you want to, but God is the one that can choose whatever punishment he wants to deliver.

And he can cause delusions so that you don’t get the freedom or the joy of doing what you want because it’s wrong. God has a neat way of robbing the joy in the peace out of a person who rebels against them. There’s temporary peace but nothing at last. And look what he says, I also in verse four will choose their delusion and will bring their fears upon them, bring their fears upon them because when I called, none did answer.

And I spake they did not hear, but they did evil before my night and chose that in which I delighted not. Now we know according to Psalms 37, 4, delight thyself in the Lord. He shall give thee the desires of thine heart, but they would not delight themselves in the Lord. So he said, here the word of the Lord. You that tremble at his word didn’t let the Lord be glorified. in verse 8, because the day will come, who had heard such a thing, who had seen such thing, shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day, shall a, and you are the underlying this in your Bible, shall a nation be born at once.

For as soon as Zion travaileth she brought forth her children. Now I believe there’s more to this and just reading a little scripture. I believe that when the Lord comes back in power and great glory, and Israel will see the Messiah, see the Savior. Israel will be born in a day. Now that’s what is mentioned over there when he says, and all shall be saved because of the deliverer. That’s what he’s talking about here. So these things are mentioned there and it’s important.

But while we’re right there, look in Isaiah 59, just go back a couple pages. Isaiah 59. And you’ll notice there in verse 1, it makes a statement about our sins, but is the Lord’s arm? Is it too short? He can’t reach you? In verse 1, behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save. Neither is it here heavy that he cannot hear. You see, God talks about he is reaching down to save every man because Christ, the Messiah, made a payment for all the sins of the world.

So through the gospel, He calls. So He calls. And in verse 2, but your iniquities have separated between you and your God. This is why we’ll always use the wallet and we put it between the two hands because we’re trying to let you see our sins separates us from each other. And he says here, but your iniquities have separated between you and your God and your sins have hid his face from you that he will not hear. Alright, now we know that the Lord did some things about this.

And he talks about him as the intercessor because there was nobody else that could intercede in C in verse 16 and he saw that there was no man, wondered that there was no intercessor. Therefore, his arm, which is Christ, brought salvation unto him, and his righteousness, it sustained him. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate. So this is where we get our robe of righteousness because God had a righteous servant who would come into the world, and you’ll see more of that in the book of Isaiah, chapter 53, that he is to justify many.

So he prophesied this. So in verse 19, he talks about raising up a standard, and you’ll see there in verse 19, so shall they fear the name of the Lord from the West and his glory from the rising of the Son, when the enemy shall come in like a flood, and the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. Now I believe that there is a reference here to Jesus Christ because verse 20. Now in verse 20 is part of the verse that’s quoted in the book, G-Roma’s in chapter 11.

And the Redeemer shall come to Zion. And unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord. Now when you turn from transgression for salvation, the only thing you can do is because of the belief. when you believe in Jesus Christ, his righteousness, God’s, is put to your account. And so he makes his statement in verse 21. As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord, my spirit that is upon thee and my words which I have put in thy mouth will not depart out of thy mouth nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seeds seed.

Sayeth the Lord from his fourth and forever.” Now if he’s talking about the seed which is Christ and the seeds seed which is us I believe that he says it’s forever. We are and I believe this teaches eternal security. Once you’re saved you’re always saved. You’re always a child of God but it’s also a reference to the prophecy concerning the nation of Israel about what God has said in what God has promised and what He is going to do.

So now in chapter 60, it talks about Zion, a rise shine for thy light is come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. And then he says here, a rise in verse two, verse three. Now we’re talking about in the book of Romans in chapter 11, we’re talking about the Jews and the Gentiles. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light. The light is Christ. Now this is mentioned in the book of Isaiah chapter 12. You’ll see it also mentioned in the book of Matthew where it talks about the light to the Gentiles.

There’s only one person that the Gentiles have ever accepted as a prophet from the nation of Israel has been Jesus Christ. There is no other one, but the Bible prophesied that in the Old Testament. So therefore I believe this is what he’s talking about. While we’re right here in the Old Testament look there in the book of Joel chapter 2. Joel chapter 2, Joel chapter 2, look at on page 932, I don’t know, 32. And you’ll notice in verse 30, this is on page 932, look in verse 30.

Now this is mentioned in the book of Acts in chapter 2, but also it’s mentioned right here. Verse 30, and I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillows of smoke. This is the day of the Lord. This is at the end of the tribulation period. When these things are going to take place right before Jesus Christ Himself comes in power, great glory to the earth and every eye is going to see Him.

And so He says here, the sun shall be turned into darkness and a moon into blood. And you’re the underlined this one the Lord before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. So the Lord is going to come. And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered or shall be saved. And this is what’s happening in the book of Romans when God made these promises. Don’t think for a moment God is not going to keep his word.

The nation of Israel is yet to see the Lord and to believe on Christ. And so I believe that is coming. Now go back to the book of Romans in chapter 11. Down through this portion of scripture, you’ll see some verses that really makes it clear about the gospel and about grace. Now you look there and you’ll see in verse 27, for this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. And the only their sins are taken away because there was a payment made and they had to believe on that payment.

You cannot just take that verse and take it out of there. You got to leave it in this context because it’s because they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. And then he says there in verse 28, as concerning the gospel, their enemies for your sake, but as touching the election the way God chooses is by grace. They are beloved for the Father’s sake. still loves the Jewish people, wants the Jewish people to be saved. Paul wanted the Jewish people to be saved, but they can only be saved if they will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Some will, some won’t. But the day is coming when they as a nation will accept the Lord. And I believe that’s what he’s talking about. Now look what he says there in verse 29, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. God does not change his mind. When you trust Christ as your Savior, He promised to give you the gift of eternal life. He can never take it away. He can’t change his mind later. And you hear so many people talking about, well, you know, if you do this, you lose it.

No, you can’t lose it. The gifts and the calling of God are without repenting. God doesn’t change his mind. And the way God calls, as we’ve read and studied throughout the book of Romans and in chapter 9 especially, that God calls by the gospel. Faith come in by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. And so people must hear the gospel and believe on Christ. And when they do, they will have the free gift of everlasting life. Now notice what he says there in verse 34 as ye in time past have not believed the Gentiles in Time past did not believe yet have now obtained mercy.

Why did they obtain mercy? Because they now believe When you believe it you have it now get this When he makes the statement yet have they now obtained mercy through their unbelief the Jewish people did not So God sent to the Gentiles and we have a special dispensation of grace and Israel has been set aside and now the Gentiles, all of the world, all of the nations, Jerusalem, Israel could have been the life to the world but they blew it.

So God set them aside because of their rejection of the Messiah, their unbelief as a nation. But a remnant individual can still be part of the body of Christ. And so he says in verse 31, even so have these also now, what’s the reason? Look at what he says, not believed. Even so these also not believed that through your mercy they He also may obtain mercy. We are trying to reach the Jewish people. I’ve been to Israel six times, Hank’s been there what, 15 times?

Hank loved the Jewish people. Now when Ray was down in Florida, not down in Miami, he will always, you’d be thinking he’s got some Jewish people there because a lot of Jewish people used to come to here here, here Ray, and he was always using prophecy and so forth to try to get the Jewish people the trust the Lord. But we are now because of God’s grace toward us. Now we’re trying to reach them, but the day will come when we’ll be taken out of here and the Jewish people will see the Lord and believe on Christ as a nation will be born in a day.

So he says here in verse 32, and you’ll see parts of this verse mentioned back there in the book of Romans in chapter 3 when he talks about this thing of we have concluded all under sin. That you might be justified by faith and faith alone. Romans 3 28. So here he’s making this statement for in verse 32. God hath, in your underlying, is concluded them all in unbelief. That he might have mercy upon how many? All. So it’s still in context with the things he’s mentioned in chapter 9.

in chapter 10, that God has chosen to save those who will believe, but He couldn’t just save them unless He paid for all of their sins. So that’s why Christ had to come to fulfill the will of God because God preached before the gospel and the Abrahams saying that the heathen would be justified by faith and whosoever would believe. They would be blessed with Father Abraham and how were they blessed because Abraham found out that he could not save himself by his works because if he could have been that God would be in debt to Abraham to save him because he deserved it which would make salvation by works.

But he says Abraham the lead God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. No works. Why didn’t Abraham have to keep the 10 commandments and the golden rule and all those things? They hadn’t been given yet. The golden rule wasn’t given until Christ gives it to Matthew. Moses gave the law for 130 years after Abraham had already believed on the Lord in Genesis 15 and so that’s why in Galatians and chapter 6 when he’s explaining the gospel, he says in verse 6 Abraham believed God, it was counted in him for righteousness, and this says in the scripture, foreseen that God would justify the heathen through faith.

This is why I’ve told you before, that word foreseen, that means that God already knew, looked down through time and already made the decision he is going to save a man by grace because no man could save himself by his works. And so that cannot change how that God chose to save by grace and that he would do it through the hearing of the gospel of Jesus Christ. So those things have not changed even though it’s been thousands of years it has not changed.

So you notice what he says here in verse 30 for God hath concluded them all in unbelief. Now if he concluded all of us have sinned, we’re all in rebarious and we’re all gone our own way and all we like sheep. Therefore he says he concludes that a man is justified by faith and faith alone through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus in Romans in chapter 3 verse 24. So as you read this, He might have mercy upon us.

Does God want to save everybody? But He’s determined that He will save only those who believe on Jesus Christ. They must believe. They must believe. Are you a new listener to Bibleline?
