Now, take your Bible and turn to the Book of Mark, the Book of Mark. the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, but Mark chapter 10. Jesus Christ is going to describe what this root is like, the characteristics of this root. You know why we do what we do. Here in Mark chapter 10, you’ll find that there’s some things mentioned here that let’s us know we have a serious problem. In this Mark chapter 10 and verse 17, let me see if I got the right scripture that I want.

Mark chapter 7, it’s the first mistake I’ve made today. This moment is lying a sin. That was a fib. What estim it was white, a a little white lie. The white lie is bad as a black lie. I don’t know. In chapter 7, chapter 7, now look there in this verse, verse 14, and when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, hark unto me, every one of you, and understand. Now he’s talking to these people, this is Jesus himself.

There is nothing from without a man that entering into Him can defile Him. Now there’s things you can do to defile your body, but the man, the soul of man is not defiled by the things you eat or don’t eat. You see, you mean I can have all the pork I want? And pizza? I didn’t say it wasn’t going to defile the bodies. Anyway, we’ll move right along. He says here in verse 15, there is nothing from without a man that entered into Him can defile Him.

But the things which come out of Him, those are that which defiled the man. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. In other words, if you have, listen to what he says, he said, I want you to understand. The reason he’s telling me, I want you to understand. Most people don’t understand. They don’t know why they do what they do. So he says there in verse 17, and when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him to turn into the parable.

And he said to them, are you so without understanding also? He says, do you not perceive that whatsoever thing from without entering into a man, it cannot defile him because it entered not into his heart but into the belly and go out into the drop purge in all meats. And he said, that which cometh out of the man, that defiled of the man. In other words, there’s something on the inside of you that defiles the man. What is this root problem that you have is this old wicked heart that we have.

Now it’s not just one that appeared pumps blood. It’s that old sinful nature that you and I were born with. So he says this and he describes it. So he makes a statement in verse 20 and he said that which cometh out of the man that defiled of the man for from within out of the heart of men. Now he’s describing what comes from this root problem, this old sinful nature that every man is born with. And he says, for from within, out of the heart of man proceed evil thoughts, adultries, fornication, murders, theft, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, that seriousness and evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

Now verse 23, you ought to unline in your Bible. All these things come from within. That’s what defiles the man. This is why we do corruptible things. This is why sometimes you can be so nice and sweet one moment and you can turn so mean and ugly and unkind and vicious. And fill with hatred just like that. Because not something on the outside of you that’s bothering you, it’s what’s on the inside of you that’s bothering you. You say, I just hate it when you make me so mad.

Nobody can make you mad without your permission. You choose to get mad. You choose to get angry. You can choose to explode or you don’t have to explode. You want to blame somebody, that’s what we do. This is what causes all the wars in the home. with the kids, with the adults. You have a sinful nature inside of you. Now, I know that we ought to pray for our nation and we ought to pray for our nation. And it’s amazing how lately I’ve heard because of the problems that America faces with fires in one place and dryness in another place and storms in another place, that this is all the result of climate change.

Now you probably haven’t heard any of that. It’s climate change. Therefore if we would stop ruining our environment, we wouldn’t have these problems. I think if you checked our history you might find that we’ve had a little problem before. But if those on the left, these, now if I offend you, I don’t If these Democrats on the left would understand in America we believe in capitalism, republican form of government, and they are moving toward communism in this country and I don’t like that.

This is why Trump is having all this problem is because there’s communists working against our country. It don’t matter if it’s him or somebody else. They’re wanting to take over our country. Now this attitude that they have and this antifa they’ve got a new title and you see them clubbing people and beating them up and hitting them over the heads and trying to destroy and all this damage and doing and destroying building again. Do you think that comes from the the Lord or the devil?

You see, these things are part of a person’s nature when it’s not controlled. Every person in this room, if you did not control that old root problem that you have, you will do the same thing. You said never do that. Yes, you would. You just need the right opportunity and to lose control and you can lose control that quick. For example, think of the multitude of people that have gone down to help this flood. All these good deeds that so many have gone.

But you let it go on for a couple more weeks and people don’t get the water or they don’t get their food and people start disease. This problem, that problem, you realize all those people can turn just as mean and ugly against each other as they have been so busy helping and caring for one another, which is a good thing to have. But we cannot overlook the sinful nature that we have. You could you can be good and kind one minute and mean as the devil the next minute.

And you know that’s true. But see most people are not trying to figure how to solve this problem but I wanted to bring this point to you. Let’s just pretend that if everybody in America came to the conclusion it’s not climate change, it’s our problem, but it’s sin. Could it be sin that is our problem? And if it was sin, if it was, would they be willing to fight it like they would be willing to fight climate change at all cost?

What if there’s a God in heaven that says, you She’d have made me angry with you. And I’m gonna chase in you because of your sin. If we knew it was because of sin, would we be willing to correct the problem? If it wasn’t climate change and it was sin. We have gone a long ways in helping to destroy this great country. Let me read this to you. Pastor Joe Wright wrote this one. He said, we have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have really killed the absolute truth of your word and called it pluralism. All views on the table, not just the Bible, all views. And after a while they take precedence over this view. It used to be not just what’s good and what’s bad. It’s truth over air. It’s the truth over a line. You see, if everybody believed the truth, everybody could get along. And everybody would love each other if we believed the truth. But there are people who are teaching lies.

The Bible isn’t true. The Bible is not real. Christ is not the Son of God. There is no God. There’s no creation. So they can destroy and teach a lie, and when you teach a lie, there’s nothing left. In justifiable laws who constrain that old root problem that we have. So change the law so that this root problem isn’t that bad. And lying is okay. Jealousy’s okay. Envyen’s all right. Destroying other people’s property. It’s okay. One’s generally to get caught.

You can sleep around if you want to. Nothing bad. Everything’s good. It’s okay to have abortion. Everything’s right. Because there’s no wrong. So keep passing laws that says it’s not wrong. And so I have to, I can get to feeling pretty good about yourself. You cannot trust that old sinful nature that we have. He says, we have worshiped other gods and called it multiculturalism. We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyles. You ever heard of alternative lifestyle? Isn’t there a pure way that God has lined up things and said, this is what’s right, do right.

But we don’t want to do right. so we can justify any time, anything, any way we want and sue their conscience. But God hasn’t changed. This book doesn’t change. You see the way of thinking, if it’s an heir to the truth, it comes from that old wicked heart of man. And we’ll feel better if we can get everybody else to agree with us. Don’t you agree with me? Don’t you agree with me? That blah blah blah blah blah blah.

I wish they’d ask me the question. No, I don’t agree with you and you’re wrong. boom we have exploited the poor we call it the lottery I won’t even ask how many of y’all play the lottery shame on you covetousness get rich quick schemes put that money to something that’s worth it like giving it to the ranch ministry or something that’s worthwhileulatory it’s not wise it’s not right no I don’t play bingo either and I don’t play the lottery.

I’ve never bought a picket. I’ve had people come out to do it and shake my hands. The whole preacher pray for me that I win the lottery. You know, I’ll give a 10% to the church. So I’m supposed to pray that they do something because just don’t do that. Anyways, we move around alone. We have rewarded laziness and call it welfare. Ain’t that true? We reward laziness. The Bible says if a man doesn’t work, he ought not eat. Now that some people can’t work, that’s fine, you can help them.

But people that can work, and it’s amazing how many times I can go down this street and I’ve been watching the same guys for several years, still standing on the same corner, asking for money. and I am. In 20, 30 years younger than I am, go get a job and stop feeding them because they’re lazy. If you can’t, that’s one thing. Some people can’t find the job for the same reason the thief can’t find a policeman. We have killed our unborn and call it choice.

We have shot abortions, call it justify. We have neglected to discipline our children and we call it building self-esteem. We have abused power and we call it politics. We have embezzled public funds and we call it essential expenses. We have institutionalized bribery and call it suites of office. We have coveted our neighbors’ possessions and call it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and we call it freedom of expression. You know, we’ve got to have clean water, but you can pollute the air all you want.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefather and we call it enlightenment. Does America need to pray? Yes, we need to pray. I believe America needs to pray and confess their sins to God. And as a nation, ask God to have mercy upon us because if God doesn’t have mercy upon America. America is not going to stay America. America is going to go down. And it wouldn’t take much to destroy this country. And I’ll leave that part with you.

Now, going back here to the book of, well, let’s just moving over to Isaiah 53. I put this little quote in your notes there so you can just look at it. And Isaiah 53, 2, he says, for he shall grow up before him as a tender plan, as a root out of a dry ground. This is talking about Jesus. Jesus is going to come into this world. Jesus is a new plant. A new plant means he’s gonna be a new tree and has a new root.

You see, he didn’t come from man. He did not have a man in this world as his father. The Holy Spirit planted that seed within Mary. And it says, a body has stopped, prepared, that holy thing shall be called the Son of God. Jesus Christ is a new type of person. He was born without a sinful nature. Jesus Christ cannot bring forth bad fruit. Everybody else cannot bring forth this perfect fruit. We have all sinned. That’s why everybody’s going to die.

And this is why we all needed a Savior. Now look in Luke chapter 23. Luke chapter 23 just turned to your right. Jesus is saying a few things here that people ought to take to heart because wicked people do wicked things. We often say that like a person made a statement. Where is God? If there’s a God, why don’t He come into this world and then reveal Himself? Well He did. They killed Him. Don’t you remember the story? Here in the Luke chapter 23 and verse 27, and there followed Him a great company of people and of women which had also be wailed and lamented Him.

But Jesus turned into them, said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming, into which they will say, blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bear, and the pacts that never gave suck. Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, fall on us and to the hills, cover us. For if they do this thing to a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

In other words, if people will cut down all these dead trees, it needs to be cut out. Which is everybody in the world, Jesus is the only one, the green tree that’s alive, bring forth righteousness, never committed one sin. He said, if they will do that to me, what do you think they’ll do to you? He says, bad times are coming, perilous times are coming.

And people can be inflamed so easy. But you see, you need a new birth. This is what God is talking about. Look at the next statement, the next scripture there, Ezekiel 36, just right out of the notes here. A new heart means a new birth. Also what I give you in a new spirit when I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh, and I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my stagion, and you shall keep my judgments and do them.

Now take your Bible and turn there to the book of John chapter 3, the gospel of John and chapter 3. You’ll notice that God and the person of Jesus Christ told Nicodemus, you must be born again. See there in verse 3? Jesus, Andrew, said it to them unto him, verily, verily, I said to you, except the man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Being born again means born from this new tree. See this new tree is Christ.

He doesn’t havehoe corruptiblehra seed he is perfect so therefore you haveto be born of thatEPA of Christ. So whenever the seed falls from Christ which is the Word of God and you believe it then you’re born in the God’s family andartney become a new plant, a new tree. This is a new birth. You see, most people are trying to clean up that old tree and that won’t do the job. You need a new root. Come from a new seed.

And this is why he says, you must be born again. Look what he says in verse 6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That’s your first birth. That when you were born into this world, flesh and that which is born of the spirit spirit of spirit. That’s a new birth, a new birth. So when you trust Christ as you’re a Savior, you’re a born of God. God becomes your Father. You have a new birth you’re born because of this new tree which is Christ.

So that’s why He says all those in Christ have eternal life and live forever because you don’t have a sinful nature. Now let me just boil it down. When I was born into this world, seven to five years ago, I got a flesh birth. And with it, I got a sinful nature. And that’s the root of all of my problems. That’s why I do the things that I do. But lo and behold, I trusted Christ as my Savior, and I was born into God’s family fifty-seven years ago.

So I have two birds. I have two trees. This is a bad tree, and it can’t bring forth good fruit. And that’s why in chapter seven, they mentioned all these wonderful works that they did. Yep. All comes from that bad root. needed the new root. And that comes from the new birth that when you trust Christ as your Savior. So now very quickly, root down at the bottom of your page. The last verse in your notes, being born again.

Get this knot of corruptible seed. See the first time you were born, you were born of a corruptible seed. Bad root. But of incorruptible by the Word of God. That’s good seed, good root, which liveeth and abideth for how long? Forever. Our look of here. My first birth because of sin has to be cut down. We all die. But my new birth born of God, incorruptible seed has eternal life. Doesn’t have a sinful nature born by the incorruptible word and I will live and abide for how long?

That’s That’s my new birth. That’s how I know I’m going to heaven right because I got a new birth. You see, it doesn’t matter what you do over here. You don’t get this one, you don’t go. You don’t go to heaven. And that’s what most churches are working on, trying to get people to pick certain fruits out of their life, clean up your life a little bit. Promise to do something, do this, or stop that and so forth like it makes you feel good.

You’re doing something. And when they die, they go to hell. The only way you get to go to heaven is by trusting Jesus Christ and Him and Him alone as your only hope. Look up here. I was telling them in Sunday school class I was at this restaurant yesterday. Got me a little cup of coffee and doing a little by didn’t stuff, you know. And they were getting ready to close. Well, I wasn’t finished yet. So they were sitting around and they got everything ready to go and anyway, I’m still sitting there.

But I know they’re getting ready to close. just 15 minutes past time when their post-it closes. But I still wanted a little bit more coffee. I said, can I have just this much more coffee? It says, we’re all out. I mean, they already cleaned it up. And I said, okay. And then Waits is on the other end and says, we got some down here. She’s, so they, I said, just as much. Just a couple more swallows. She brought it over.

She was nice, kind, very sweet. And she stood there and I asked her, I says, can I ask you a question? She said, sure. I said, if you knew positively, began to shadow it out, that you had eternal life. Would you tell me, I’ve never done that before, not that way. I usually ask them if you could know you have eternal life, would you like, no. If you right now, if you knew positively, began to shove it out,dat you had eternal life, would you tell me how to go to heaven?

She says, well, I, I said, you’re studying, you’re not sure I did. Well, no. I said, I know. Let me tell you. I said, you got about a minute. So in just a minute I explained her how you can know you have eternal life. It’s the best news in all the world. You see, I don’t have to try to convince a person to know you’ve been bad. You got to get rid of all that bad fruit. And you got to promise you’re going to live this way and you got to stop this and I just want to look, that doesn’t help.

God wants to give you a new birth. This hand represents you and me. The wallet represents sin. We all have sin on us. We all have. Because of sin coming from that bad root, we got bad fruit. And because that we all sin, then we’re all condemned. Because we got this root problem. But God loves us once we go to heaven, but we can’t go to heaven go to heaven because we got this bad root. Because if we went to heaven with that bad root, we’re going to have bad root in heaven and heaven won’t be heaven anymore.

We’ll do up there what we do down here. And that ain’t going to be heaven. God said, no, not even one sin’s permitted in there. So God says, I’ll give you a new birth. If I give you a new birth without a sinful nature, that then you’ll be good to go. So you can’t earn eternal life. This hand represents Jesus Christ is the Lord God in the flesh came into the world because He loves us, hates our sin because it that separates us from them.

So Jesus Christ who had no sinned in half the die. So He took our sins, paid for them across, came back from the dead. And the only thing He wanted you and I to do is will you believe He did it for you? Will you believe He paid for your sins? Well see, if He paid for my sins and I accept that, then I got a payment for what? My sense. It means that I don’t have to pay for my son.

Why? Because he paid for mine. Why am I going to heaven? Because I don’t have any sense to pay for it. He paid for all my sins. People don’t get it. Let him have ears to hear, hear, understand. You can know you have internal life. You can know that you’re going to heaven when you die. It’s the best thing in all the world. And so I said, does that make sense? Yes, it does. I said, well, you right now, will you trust Christ as your Savior?

Yes, I will. If you’re here this morning, you never trust that Christ as your Savior. you. If you haven’t trusted Christ to save you see all you guys that old bad root. Is your desire to want to clean it up and stop all that bad stuff and go ahead spend the rest of your life but then you’re gonna help. You need a new birth and that’s only by trusting Christ in Him alone. That means you must believe that what He did He did it for you and if your trust Christ is your Savior right now He would save you right now give me eternal life when?

Right now and you can know that you’re going to heaven whenever you die. I have known for all these years I’m going to heaven. Why? Because I got this new birth. I got this new root. And when I get to heaven, all I’m going to heaven is all this new fruit. Down here, you know, sometimes I got a little this and I got a little this and Iysical a little this and a lot of this. And so people can go crazy trying to decide that, you know, I don’t know.

Listen, the Lord knoweth them that are His. You trust Christ as Savior. God gives you a new birth. He becomes your Father. He becomes His child. Didn’t that good news? That’s good news. it’s free. It’s free. You don’t have to promise anything, stop anything. All you need to do is just receive it. Let’s pray, shall we? With every head bowed and every eye closed and no one looking around. If you have never trusted Christ as your Savior and you say, preacher, that made sense to me and I want to know that I’m going to heaven when I die and I will trust Christ as my Savior right now.

Friend, if you trust Christ right now as your Savior, God saves you right now and gives you eternal life. And I want to know and I’d like to have prayer for you. So is in with all before we be closed. So yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior and I’d like for you to pray for me. Would you just slip me in it very quickly, put it right back down. I’m not going to immerse you, and I’m not going to have you forward, but right where you’re sitting.

So that made sense to me. They don’t want it all before we close. If you have already trusted Christ as Savior, remember God, I’ll never cast you out and never lose you. Our Father, we thank you so much for this time together. We ask Your blessings upon each person here. And Father, when we think about what You have done for us, and You gave us the commandment, divine commandment for the Lord’s Supper, that we do this in remembrance of what you’ve done for us that you took our sins in your body and paid for it.

You gave your life, you shed your blood, and Father, we know that you came back from the dead, and we look forward to your coming again. We ask your blessings upon us at this time in Christ’s name.
