Take your Bible and turn to the book of numbers, numbers in chapter 32, numbers chapter 32. God had told Israel that when we get to the Promised Land, you know, we all are on the same page, we’re all together, and we’ve got to go in there and fight all these battles inside of the land. We’ve got to cross over Jordan, go in there and conquer the place. And everybody was supposed to go. Well, there was two tribes. And Gad and Ruben, these two tribes, well, they had looked at land on the east side of Jordan and this is this is cattle country.

This is like the wild west. We got all this grazing land. We want to stay over here because we got cattle. It was a reasonable thing to come up to. You know, we got cattle and this is cattle country. So they wanted to go there. And so Moses, he asked him, he says, I need you to go over Jordan and and help your people fight for their land. See what had happened was because of the rebellion that they had faced everybody from 20 years old and upward, see, they were gonna die off.

So 40 years later, those that went in, see where a bunch of new people except those that were 20 years and older, they just got older in 40 years, they’re 60 years old now. So it had a lot of young people, another generation, and they were going in fight for their land. Except Joshua and Caleb, they were now up in age. Caleb was now 85 years old. So he had a piece of land that he wanted. He says, I want that mountain.

And he was willing to fight and they go get it. But look what he says down here in verse 11, surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt from 20 years old and upward shall see the land which I swear unto Abraham and unto Isaac and unto Jacob, because they have not wholly followed me. The reason was because they didn’t follow me like I told them to. You see, God had made a promise. I will bless you.

I’ll take care of the enemy. Just do what I tell you to do and you’ll win. But they saw the giants in the land and they turned the people’s hearts against them. And so all these people didn’t get to go in because they murmured and complained. You would think that people would have learned their lesson, but now look down in verse 17. He says, but we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel until we have brought them unto their place and our little ones shall dwell in the fence cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

We will not return unto our houses until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance. So, Seagad and Ruben said, we will go in and help you fight these battles and once we won, then we’ll go back to our land that we won. That sounded like a pretty good deal. And they gave their word, they promised. And then he says there in verse 19, for we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan or forward because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of Jordan, eastward.

And Moses said unto them, if, if, notice these little words like if. If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the Lord to war and will go all of you armed over Jordan before the Lord until he hath driven out his enemies from before you and the land be subdued before the Lord, then afterwards ye shall return and be guiltless before the Lord. And before Israel, and this land shall be your possession before the Lord.

So he says, if you will do what you promise that you will do, Then you will not be held responsible, you will not be guilty, you have done what you said you would do, keep your word. That’s what he says in verse 23. But if you will not do so, behold you have sinned against the Lord. And here’s a phrase that you need to underline in your Bible and remember it. And be sure, be sure your sin will find you out.

In other words, if you don’t keep your word, your sin is going to cause you to pay for it. Now, sometimes people try to figure out who is the greatest detective of all time. And some people mention Sherlock Holmes. You ever heard of him? Well, he might be a great detective. And some people think about Perry Mason. You ever heard of Perry Mason? Never lost a case. And there’s several others, you know. But really one of the The greatest detectors of all time, the greatest detector of all time is S-I-N.

He will find you out. What it means is your sin, though you hide it from everybody, will tell on you. Sin reveals things. And he says it will find you out. There’s different ways in which it is done. But I want you to take and just look at a couple of these things because I believe it’s important. Look there in the book of Isaiah, Isaiah in chapter 59, Isaiah 59. Does everybody know that they do things? And the last thing you want is for somebody to know about it.

We do a lot to try to keep people from knowing the way we really are. Aren’t you glad that people can’t read your mind? Wouldn’t that be a humiliating thing? So we can just look at people and smile and they don’t know what in the world you’re thanking. You can get away with a lot of thoughts that are not good for the moment. So it’s something to look at. You see in Isaiah in chapter 59, look there in verse 12, verse 12.

He says, for our transgressions are multiplied before the, and our sins, you ought to underline is our sins testify against us. It squeals on you. In other words, you can’t get away with some things. But if you know this, you just know that this is what causes and produces a lot of time a lot of heavy guilt down the road. And you just wonder, does anybody know? Is anybody going to tell? And it can scare you to death. Because you know that some things you can’t control and you don’t know what other people know or don’t know sin can destroy you.

It has a way of working on you and it works on your conscience. It can produce a lot of the guilt. It can be like a ton of bricks on your shoulders. As the Bible says, unless I’ll serve the Lord with joyfulness of heart, I will put a yoke of iron upon your neck until it destroys you. you down. That’s the weight of guilt because you don’t do what God says to do. There’s the price to pay and sin will find you out.

In other words sin has a way of working on you and you need to understand it. Now I’m looking Proverbs chapter 28 Proverbs in chapter 28 but in Proverbs chapter 28 look there in verse verse 1, verse 1, where he says, the wicked flee when no man pursue it. You see sin produces guilt. And when you are guilty, you think people when they look at you, or if they’re talking to people talking together, they’re talking about me. And you be surprised how you begin to read into every little thing.

and it causes you to be afraid. It causes you to flee when nobody’s chasing you. It causes you to have fear when nothing’s been done. You see, you can’t say, well I can sin and get away with it because nobody will know. Sin will take its toll upon you. It works on you. It breaks you down. It robs you of your joy and your happiness. So sin reveals what was done. It tells on you. It testifies against you. So can you sin?

And there’s no results. It’s like somebody watching an accident and they saw what happened and they testified. He did it. He did it. He did it. You have within you an old sinful nature. And this old sinful nature, just like the devil, says, I saw you. You did it. You did it. And then you try to get away from that, that, that deed, that action that you said something, and you’d be surprised that load of guilt that comes upon you and seeks to destroy you.

Look what he says in verse 13. In verse 13 says, he that coverth his sins shall not prosper, shall not prosper. Who says that? What’s that’s right there? But who so confesses and forsakeeth them shall have mercy.” So it all depends. That’s why when you know you’ve done something, you should not have done. The most important thing you can do is to confess it and own up to God. Because God already knew it anyway. But confessing it removes all the guilt.

And it removes that weight upon your shoulder so you can breathe. and not have to worry it. And see, with people, it’s not as much pressure as when you know God knows it, and He’s already forgiven me. And if people don’t, okay, people don’t. But the one that it really counts to did. Now, you would love for everybody to forgive you if you’re wrong them. But sometimes people don’t forgive you. They hold it against you. They carry a grudge.

They get bitter at you. They call you wronged them 20 years ago. ago. Never forget about it. So you’ve got to learn. It’s very important that you realize God sees all. And just because things are done at nighttime doesn’t mean God can’t see in the dark. God can always see. Look what he says in verse 26. He that trusted in himself in his own heart is a what? verse 26. Are you looking at it? He that trusts us in his own heart is a a fool.

So you don’t trust yourself. Sin reveals when you’re not trusting the Lord because of the decisions you make that will lead you astray. And your wrong decisions will always get you into trouble and there’s a price to pay. So it’s important. Look what he says in verse 1 of chapter 29. He being often reproved, hardeneth his heart. See what he says? He that being often reproved, hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy. So God says, he gives us time, but you don’t know how much time God’s going to give you.

We should always be willing to, as soon as you do something, you know you shouldn’t have done or said or thought, try to correct it. Otherwise it builds up. And the guilt because sin says you’re guilty, you’re guilty, you’re guilty, you’re guilty, you’re guilty. And you don’t get it taken care of. It produces a weight. It’s like a mountain being made out of a little ole’mow hill. It was so small at one time. But the longer you carry it, the worse it gets.

Remember the illustration I did in church one day? I had Jan came up here and all he had did was just hold a glass of water. It had absolutely nothing to do with how much water was in it. This is how long he has to carry it. So just a glass without anything in it. Well, way down after a while. Did you know if I just help my learn out there with nothing in it, it’s going to get me sooner or later.

So you learn how to cast your cares upon the Lord and get things taken care of. It’s so very important. Now look Psalms 14 and verse 3. Psalms 14 and verse 3. Now these are scriptures here that, yeah, it talks about the man that’s a fool because he’s like an atheist. There is no God in verse 1. And many of these scriptures down through here let you see the morality of the people, how wicked they are in thought, word and deed, and how that their voice or their breath is like an open sepica, their mouth.

And so God says this is the way we are in his eyes. And so it’s the breakdown of the morality of the people. Now listen, that’s where we are today in this country. America is losing its morality, if they ever had any good morality, but I mean it’s getting worse and worse and worse. I see a lot of trouble brewing down the road. Now I want you to take your Bible looking Proverbs 12, Proverbs 12, we don’t always do everything like we should.

We know that we all have sinful natures and so on. But in Proverbs in chapter 12, look there in verse 5. And just look at the first part of that verse. The thoughts of the righteous are right. The thoughts of the righteous. So God’s interested not only in the actions But in the thoughts. Do you want to be a righteous man? Then you have to learn how to control your thoughts. That’s why the first Psalm is such a wonderful Psalm to dwell on.

And also the book of Philippians in chapter four where it talks about think on these things. God knows and knows that we can think about the wrong things. And if you think about the wrong things, you might just do the wrong thing. So you got to learn how to think. And that’s where you’re going to think about it. success in your failures. Start and end right up there in the mind and it’s so important. Now look in Proverbs chapter 6.

Proverbs chapter 6, it’s going through here and it’s trying to let you see that there’s a difference between the wisdom of God and the wisdom of the world. And in explaining the wisdom of God and the wisdom of the world, it uses women, kinds of women. A righteous woman and a wicked woman. So the wisdom of the world is like the wicked woman that looks at you and says, and she’s a bad woman. And she’ll dress a certain way and look a certain way and she’ll try to catch you with her eyes.

It’s flutter her eyes and it’s at you. And she’ll use her speech and how she talks. Hello, big boy. And it won’t be long before you be singing her song. Now look what he says here in verse 24, verse 24 of chapter six of Proverbs where he says, to keep thee from the evil woman. Now we know we should be kept from the wisdom of the world because the wisdom of the world is like a woman who lures you into her little trap.

So the man of God must study the word of God, and there is a righteous woman who gives you everything that’s right. And so God says, learn how to distinguish between the right woman and the wrong woman. And the consequences of it. Now, look what he says here. In verse 25, “‘Lust not after her beauty in thine heart.” You see, this is in the Bible. Can you believe that somebody like Solomon used of God to write this? Well, I guess if anybody knows, he does.

How many wives did he have? 700 wives and 300 concubines. One thousand women. No wonder he was so wise. Look at all the counseling he received. But you think, with being so wise, why did he become so foolish? And the Bible says that the kingdom after Solomon was divided because of his sin with the women. Now get what he says here. He says in verse 25, neither let her take thee with her eyelids. Because you see, a woman looks at you and then she flirts with you.

But what you’ve got to watch is when that good looking thing looks at you, you’ve got keep your thoughts right. Keep your mind on the Lord. Now in the book of Proverbs there is a great similarity between the wisdom of the world and the way the wrong woman is and how she lures. And then there’s the Reincarnation of God and the right kind of woman and how that she tries to get the man to do that and she will honor you and protect you and do all these good things for you.

So there’s these two women that are mentioned here in the book of Proverbs, but it shows you this. Verse 27 says, can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothe not be burned? Can one go upon hot cold in his feet not be burned? So he that goeth into his neighbor’s wife, whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent. In other words, he will be guilty. And if you’re guilty, your sin will find you out. Did you know there’s a price to pay for letting down your guard?

Because when you don’t discipline yourself, the sin will haunt you. Because if it haunts you, it means that you were at a weak moment and Cosmetic is what you did. So what are you going to do the next time you have a weak moment? You’ll do the exact same thing as you did before. And then the next time it happens, because remember, the lust of the flesh never go away. But you train it on how to respond under pressure.

And because you gave in this time, and then this time it gets easier as you go. And next thing you know, it can totally destroy you. So you say, well, it didn’t bother me and nobody knows, yeah, but the next time it comes What’s going to happen? What are you going to do? You may not be able to stand there either, end the next time, end of the next time. A lot of lives have been ruined. Why do you think it is if I say there’s a guy who wants to take advantage of a girl?

You always want to take it to a restaurant where they serve a little alcohol so he can get a drink. Just a little drink? Just a little drink? Does he want to just take one little drink? No, he wants to keep on until she doesn’t have any resistance. Most girls ought to know that and put their foot down and say, no, but they don’t. Because the guy can just pour on his charm and just lure them. And they say, oh, and there they go.

And next thing you know, they have lost their will to resist. But God wants us to be smart to be wise. He says concerning his children, Ephesians chapter 5, let it not be once named among you, not once. So he mentions down through here a man in verse 29, goes into his neighborIronically, and then he says in verse 30, men do not despise a thief if he steal to satisfy his hunger when he’s hungry. But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold.

He shall give all the substance of his house as a price to pay. But verse 31 says, but if he be found, if he be found, some things that seem like we might do and we get away with it, but all that generally does is make sure you bold to do it again. I got away with before him. And then sooner or later you get caught. And he said, well, I didn’t do anything. It’s like one time this guy pulled me over.

I was speeding, but I wasn’t going that fast. And I says, why did you stop me? Why didn’t you get those other guys? They were going just as fast as I were, faster. They were in front of me. But you got me. He says, do you ever go fishing? I said, yes, a lot of times. He says, do you catch all the fish in the lake? I says, no. He says, neither do I. Smart Ellen. So he says here in verse 31, but if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold.

But looking for 32. But who so committed adultery with a woman lacketh understanding? He that doeth it, destroyed his own soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get and his reproach shall not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man, talk about her husband. Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. In other words, somebody’s going to try to take your life because you mess around with my woman. And then you got to run for your life or you hope that nobody finds out.

You know, these triangles get into a lot of trouble. You can read your newspapers every day and somebody doesn’t kill somebody because he’s run off with somebody’s wife or she got in bed with somebody else, but they bring it upon themselves. So he says here in verse 35, and he will not regard any ransom. In other words, you can’t buy him off. Can’t pay him off because he wants revenge. You stole something from me. Be sure your sin will find you out and there is a price to pay.

Now, can you sin against your body? Yeah. And we found out because your body has a way of telling on you when you abuse it. What if I was to do this? I’m going to tell everybody I’m going to a health food kick. But every night when I go home, I eat a half a gallon of ice cream. Two pages. Oh, That sounds good so far. And every night I do this. Well after a while, my sin is going to tell on me how you know the story.

I’ll be twice the man Betty married because you grow and grow and grow. In other words, it will tell on you. You broke the law. If a man takes a drink and keeps on drinking, is it possible that his body is going to tell on him? Sooner or later he could have trouble with his liver. If we’re supposed to be in control of our minds, should you do something that would dilute your ability to think clearly when you have to give an account for everything that you said and did?

But I can’t see why I would want to go that direction because I believe, according to the word, you’ve got to give an account some day. So this thing, smoking ain’t going to send you to hell. You’ll smoke there. But I buried a lot of people who did. So you can smoke and still go to heaven when you die. But can you do something that will harm your body, and eventually it could take its toll upon your sin, it will reveal it to you.

This is what I believe the Occupations talking about. You can ruin your body with bad health. That means that your sin will find you out. It can happen to your morality, it can happen to your body physically, and it happens to you, I believe, later on in life. Isn’t there a verse in the Bible says that you shall reap what you sow? You’re going to reap what you sow. In other words, so you’re going to reap something you sowed.

In other words, you’re going to get the results of what you did, but you don’t get it now. You get it later. But there’s a price to pay down the road. something’s gonna happen down here as a result of what you did. So if you know that be sure your sin will find you out. As Moses was talking to Gaddon, Riven is alone. If you don’t keep your word and we go over there and we have to find will know you weren’t with us.

We’ll know that you stayed on this side and there’s going to be trouble to pay. Don’t you remember all those people that died in the wilderness because they refused to obey God? Do you believe that you can disobey God, rebel against God and there’s no results to it? No penalty to pay? No consequences. No, your rebellion will find you out. The way you think will the way you think, the things that you say will tell on you, the actions, decisions you make in life will tell on you.

And sooner or later you can’t hide everything. That’s why always stay close to the Lord and stay close to the book. And when you do have a problem and you fail, don’t run and hide because your sin is going to tell on you if you do anything run to the Lord and be honest between you and the Lord. Sin is the greatest detective in the world. It knows everything about you, that old sinful nature that lives inside of you.

Remember I said one time that old sinful nature is like having a little old ammo like inside of you. And he just loves to get dirt on anybody. And he just loves to to have you not talk to the Lord and get ready. He wants it to be revealed. He wants to bring you down. And buddy, he knows how to do it. So there’s some wisdom in God’s Word that will really help us if we do what God’s Word tells us to do.
