Look at the next statement. Let us see. as it is appointed unto men once to die after this, the judgment. Every man’s going to die, it’s appointed every man in the die, and then after death, there’s a judgment. The next verse, Hebrews 10-10, by the which will we are sanctified, mean to be made pure and holy, through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, was the next three words say, once for all. Once for all, for all my sins, one payment for all of them.
He’s not coming back to make another payment. Look at the next statement. But this man referring to Christ, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, that down on the right hand of God. Now why did He sit on? Because the work’s done. You see, for you and I to go to heaven, the work has already been done. There’s no work for you to do. You don’t have to earn it. You don’t have to deserve it. It’s free.
It’s a gift. That’s why they call it good news. Going to all the world and spread the good news. Got good news. You can go to heaven. And yet there’s preachers that’ll tell the people, well, you know, it’s free, But let me tell you what you’ve got to pay. You’ve got to stop your sins. Okay, which ones? Oh, well all of them. That was the problem. You couldn’t. You haven’t. You didn’t. And you can’t. You’ve got to make Christ the Lord and the Master of your life.
You see, one is you’ve got to promise not to be bad. And the other one is you’ve got to promise to be good. How you doing? Did you know, is you can tell people that you have to be good to go to heaven and they still won’t? You can tell people that you can live wicked and you’ll go to hell and they’ll live wicked anyway, don’t they? Doesn’t people heard that? If you do bad, you know where you’re going, don’t be hot down there.
But if you want to go to heaven, you have to earn it, but then they don’t try to earn it. And they don’t try to keep out of hell. You know, I think most people just give up because they don’t think it’s even possible. God is possible for every person in the world to go to heaven. And God has made it in such a way that everybody can have it. So He just concluded the whole world guilty. And Christ died for the whole world.
It says free. You can’t earn it. But if you believe I did it for you, I’ll give you the free gift of everlasting life. You go to heaven on what I did for you. Now who gets the credit for that? He does. you do, nothing. All you had to do is believe. You’ve heard of John 3, 16. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever, believe it, should not perish but have everlasting life.
So that’s the only thing He required. Because if He required more than that, then you can’t be sure. There can be no security. If it depends on anything else you have to do, then trust the Lord. It can’t be secure. Well, you’ve got to go to church. Okay, which church? How often? Well, I’d say here. You’ve got to give money? How much? Well, I’ll just take all you’ve got. I mean, we want to play it safe. You don’t know how much to give, or just give all you’ve got?
No, I’m getting like this sermon. But you know that what I’m saying isn’t true. Is it? Because remember, you want to be secure and know you have eternal life, know that you’re going to have an… See, most people think you have to wait till you die. Now, why do I have to wait till I die to find out where I’m going? Well, because you don’t know how good you’re going to be. If it doesn’t depend on that. Well, you don’t know how bad you are.
It doesn’t depend on that. Because in people’s mind, they can’t believe that it’s free. You can’t tell me, oh, yes, I can and so does God. But I’m not the one you have to answer to. This is what the book says. You take your Bible and you go home and you check and see if these verses are not in the Bible and see if they don’t say what this thing says. Because I just want people to know the heavy trauma I’ve been doing.
Did you know that the clearer you are in your own mind, the easier it is for you to tell somebody how to go to heaven? There’s a lot of people you know that will never darken the doors of a church. You may have friends and relatives and so forth that never heard the gospel. They don’t know where they’re going when they die, and you can tell them. You don’t have to get them to church. You don’t need to preach her.
All you got to do is tell them. Tell them what Christ died for you. He paid for all of your sins. Pyrrha, I know I’m going to heaven because Christ paid for all my sins. That’s the only reason I’m going to heaven. He died for me. He took my place. Substitution. And you don’t earn it. You don’t work for it. You can do that. You can do that. But look at the top of the page. Hebrews 10, 14 says, for by one offering, he hath perfected for how long?
Forever then that are saint of God. Those that he saved, it may be impure and holy. He took all my sins, paid for it. I don’t have any sins to pay for. Yeah, but what about the rest of your life? Yeah, the rest of my life, I got a choice. I can still live okay, please. But I got consequences. There’s a loving and heavenly Father up there that loves me. And he says, he’s going to chase in me. But he says, if I would serve him, he would bless me.
Now, which one do you want? Do you want the blessings of God up on your life here? And reward when you get to heaven? Or do you want to disobey him and have your heavenly Father heaven, the freedom to do anything he wants to you? You’d be surprised. So I serve the Lord because I love him for what he did for me. I’m not serving God to get to heaven because there’s nothing that I can do to pay him back.
I’m just thankful that he gave eternal life as a free gift. And anybody who believes it can know they have eternal life. You just gotta love that. Look at number five, does scripture state emphatically how you receive forgiveness and eternal life? Does the Bible tell you how to get it? If you can be saved. Does the Bible say exactly what is required? He has already told us, it’s not by your works. So let’s just put that aside. Don’t mention one eye out of anything you have to do of your good works because it doesn’t qualify.
It has nothing to do with going to heaven. Going to church, giving money, living a good life, being nice to your wife, not kicking the dog. Nothing helps. It’s not a works. It has nothing to do with how you live. And this is so difficult for people to believe. So look at this. By belief alone in Christ alone. Look at three C and D. Number three, C and D. What do you have to do to be forgiven of all of your sins?
So that payment would be put to your account. In Acts 13, 39, for by Him all that do what? Believe. Are justified from all things from which you cannot be justified by the law of Moses. The law of Moses, which is by your works, doesn’t justify you. But by faith alone, you can be justified from everything that you’ve ever done or ever will do. Boy, that’s good news. And look what he says in the next one, letter D, Acts 10 and 43, to him give all the prophets witness that through his name, whosoever, anybody whosoever, believe it in him shall receive remission of sin.
So if he will do that, there’s a good question. When? Back to number five. Look at letter I. John 647 says, Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believe it on me, hath, hath what? When? When you believe it? If you believe it today, he would give you eternal life. Today, he that believe it. If you believe it, you got it. It’s not a process. It’s not that you can just begin today and five years down the road, if you hang in there and listen and grow and all that stuff.
You’ll finally, you You might get it down the road. No, no, no, no, no, no. You believe it now? You get it now. Forgive it now. He that believeth of me hath, I mean, his present is right now when, when you believe it. He that believeth of me hath everlasting life. Do you believe it? You pose a half something. Where you pose a half, everlasting life. Well, when do you have it? When you believe it? So if I asked you, do you believe it?
You said, I believe it. Do you have everlasting life? Well, I don’t know. Then you don’t believe it. He said, if you believe it, you got it. Got it? You can’t believe it and not have it. And how do you know when you really believe when you can say I have it? You can’t say you have it because you don’t believe it. Isn’t that simple? I know this is heavy stuff. He said going to all the world and priests to every creature.
That means even people who don’t have a high school education can understand this. This is a child can understand this. It’s free. Look at the next statement. John 6, 36 says, He that believeth on the Son hath, present tense right now, hath everlasting life. He that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on Him. He that believeth, hath everlasting life. When you believe it. So number six, does scripture state emphatically when you receive eternal life?
Well the verse we read just a moment ago, there in verse 36, chapter 3, he that believeth on the sun hath everlasting life. Well, he that believeth. Well, when you believe it, is there a long waiting period? Approving period? You know, probation period? Or if you believe it, when do you get it? When you believe it? You see, 55 years ago in a little living room in Athan, Georgia, I heard this for the first time. It made sense to me, and I believed it.
So when did God save me? Ten years later, God finally got around. He was busy. He was doing so many other things, and I had just hang on and wait. Have you ever called somebody on the phone and you’ve got to put on the hole and you’ve got to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait. Aren’t you glad that God doesn’t have the… Just like that. When you believe it, you have it. Look at the, we’ll just, I’ll tell you the verse.
Maybe you’ve heard of John 3 16, you’ve heard of John 3 16. For God so loved the world that He gave His only big God and Son that whosoever, believe it. That very moment you believe, you’re supposed to know two things. The very moment you believe, you should know these two things. One, He says, you shall not perish. That means you can’t go to hell. Why? Because you believe. shall not perish.” That means it’s the feet. You can’t perish.
But have everlasting light mean you go to heaven. Which comes first? Chicken or the egg? No, I forget that. Which comes first? Is it because you know you’re going to heaven? Or is it because you knew you weren’t going to hell? And why did you believe on Christ? So that you wouldn’t go to hell? Or so that you would go to heaven. See, when you come to the Catholic Community church, you get deep stuff here. You get a lot of meat.
But it’s so simple that anybody can understand it. You know the Bible says, feed my sheep. He doesn’t say feed my giraffes. Put it down where everybody can understand what I’m saying. You have to, you can understand what I’m saying. You may not agree with what I’m saying, but you can understand what I’m saying. You say, are you trying to tell me, uh-huh? That’s exactly what I’m telling you. And so when he says, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believe it in him should not perish.
I mean, you not go to hell, but have that very moment everlasting life. So how do you know what it means right then? We just read 36. He that believe it unto him is not condemned. When, when is he not condemned? When he believed the very moment he believed not condemned. But who is still condemned? Well, he that didn’t believe. The scripture is clear. It’s that people can’t believe that God loves them that much. And there are some people lifted up with pride.
Well, you have to be good and do this, not the other. What they’re trying to tell you is I am. And they look down there long ferris eulconos like a hypocrite. And so I qualify. Don’t you wish you was holy like me. And they look down there long ferris eulconos at others thinking they’re liking a lot of corn flakes a little bit better. You see, what kind of a person are you, preacher? Well, since you asked, I’m a dirty lousy stinking rotten sitting out of a bus hell wide open.
You said, you related Donald Trump? No. No. I was saying this before he ever showed up. But you can know that you have eternal life. See, that’s why once you get this settled, you can’t truly enjoy the Christian life that period of time God gives you life until you know where you’re going when you die. See the joy of life is knowing I’m going to heaven. The tear of life is, I can still go to hell. I can’t go to hell and I am so happy.
I’m going to heaven because I’m so good. No. Because we just covered it in Sunday school. God is great and God is good. Aren’t you glad that God is a good God? He’s got a good message too. And it’s free for everybody. Everybody can have it. If you had to do with how you lived and everybody’s not going to be able to live. live as good as somebody else. Because not everybody’s going to know what to do. Everybody’s not going to understand.
Everybody can’t live that straight and narrow way. But aren’t you glad that it’s free? Oh, you have to accept it. And that’s what God says. That’s why it’s so important. When He says here in John 647, very, very I send you, He that believeth on me, had, when, when you believe it. What do you have? What do you have? Eternal life. Is it temporary life or eternal life? It’s eternal life. Not life to your sin again, it’s eternal life.
Look at number seven, does scripture state emphatically why you have eternal life by faith alone? I believe the Bible tells us why God made it like that because if it wasn’t by faith alone, the only other thing it can be would be by works. The only thing, if it’s not by faith alone, it has to include works. And he says, you can’t do it. What kind of works would God require? Perfection? Because he can’t require anything less. So how can you make it?
You can’t. So the only way you can be sure of going to heaven is if God made it free. God, look at this statement. In the book of Romans in chapter 5 and verse 8, that’s how God commended his love toward us. And why we were yet saints. No? Why we were yet what? Christ died for us. You see, Christ dying for us was God’s way of telling us, I love you. I love you. So how much did He love me?
He says, this much. And I don’t cross. That’s how much He loved us. That He would pay for all the sins of all the world. Now why isn’t salvation by works? Well, there’s another reason. You see there in 1 Corinthians in chapter 1 verse 29, just look at it right their new notes, that no flesh should glory in his presence. The word glory can also be brag to boast, you know, to glory in his present. No person can boast in God’s present that I got here because I was so good.
You know I’ve been a preacher all my life. And if anybody deserves to go to heaven, you know it’s the preachers. laughing over there. That makes me think that you didn’t believe what I said. And it’s the truth. No flesh, no person. Now look what he says in Ephesians 2, 8, 9, for by grace are you saved through faith that not of your cells, it is the gift of God, not of what? Why? Less any man should boast. You can’t look at get anything in your life that you’ve done good, that you haven’t done bad, and say that has a part in my salvation.
God will not accept it. You’ll either get to heaven God’s way or no way. I guess you could say God’s, it’s my way or the highway. And that’s the way it is. God says, here’s the only way. No man cometh unto the Father but through me. Jesus Christ. There is no other way. It’s not through the church, not through your good life. It’s only through Christ. I would hate to think that people could come here to Calvary Community Church and never really understand how to get to heaven.
This is why we try to tell you all the time because we believe it’s the most important. The rest of it is frivolous if you don’t go to heaven. It doesn’t matter if you can try to live by Christian principles, live by Christian, sayings in the Bible, fall of Christ as a example. But if you trust that to get you to heaven, you don’t go. You don’t go. You must accept Him as your Savior and Him alone. And it is by grace because God will not have anybody.
Glory or brag or boast because of what they’ve done. It’s going to be because of what He’d done because if a man can earn his way to heaven, it robs from the love of God. He made it this way so that you would know I can’t make it. And the only reason I’m going to heaven because God loves me. God loves me. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. And God will not tolerate anybody stripping away his love and change it into something ugly.
Now look at the next statement. The scripture stayed emphatically that you cannot lose eternal life. Does the Bible say you can’t lose it? John 637, we have already read that verse, I will have no wise cast you out. And he says that he would not lose you. Remember the illustration I had while I go? Here we are. If I hang on to God, and then I can lose it. But if I trust Him, He saves me. And He says, John 6’37, I’ll never know why it’s ever cast you out.
I’ll never cast you out. Never. He says in John 6’39, I’ll never lose you. Never lose you. Never. In John chapter 10 verse 20, he says, and no man can pluck you out of my hand. That’s how secure I am. That’s how I know I’m going to heaven, because it doesn’t depend upon me. Depends upon Him, keeping His Word. Can you trust God to keep His Word? Hey, He’s not just a politician. I mean, He means what He says.
He says the truth. Number nine, does scripture state emphatically that you cannot go to hell in the future? This you’ve got to see. quickly look in John chapter three, John chapter three, real quick, John chapter three and verse 18. When he makes this statement in John chapter three verse 18, he that believeth on him is, is, right now, present tense is what? Not condemned. That means at this point in my life, when I trust that Christ is my Savior, I’m not condemned.
Now if I’m not condemned, how can I go to hell? He said, but what about down the road? I knew you was going to say that. So look there in John chapter five, John chapter five verse 24. Verse 24, Verily, verily, I say unto you, hear that heareth my word, believe it on him that sent me, hat what? Hat everlasting life, get this. Shall not, is that in the future? In the future shall not do what? Come into condemnation.
That’s a promise from Jesus himself. He said that, I am not condemned the moment I trust Christ as my Savior. That payment he made is put to my account and I cannot, shall not in the future, I can never be condemned. Now if I can never be condemned, means it’s impossible for me to ever go to hell. What sin would I have to commit in the future that would send me to hell? What sin did Jesus not pay for that would send me to hell.
Or did he die for all of them or not? He paid for all of my sins. So I cannot be condemned. And then you get a chance to read the book of Romans in chapter eight. You read those verses that we have here in verse 35 to 39. What can separate us from the love of God? See, Christ is the love of God. Salvation is the love of God. Grace is the love of God. What can separate me from Christ?
nothing. He says, I’ll never leave you, never forsake you. Never leave me, never forsake me. You know what if I’ve been bad? Never, never, never. It means never. So, he is eternal life. This is the true God and eternal life, Jesus Christ. So, when you have the son, you have life, and he that have not the son have not life. So, whether you have eternal life or not depending on whether you’ve got the sun. So when I accept the sun as my Savior, I receive eternal life.
He is eternal life. And I got him and he’ll never cast me out and never lose me. Look down at number 10. Does Scripture stay emphatically at what moment? All these things happen? I think it does. The very moment you trust Christ as your Savior, you’re saved from hell. You’re going to heaven. So which did you get first? It happens exactly the same moment. When you trusted Christ as your Savior, there is absolutely no way you could ever go to hell in the future.
And when you trust Christ as your Savior, you are given that very moment, that believeth half, you turn light, you go to heaven when you die. So when he says in John 3, 16, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever beleavened should not perish, means you won’t go to hell, but have everlasting life, you go to heaven. When? He that believe So that day, 55 years ago, when I trusted Christ as my Savior, I trusted Christ to save me from hell.
I wanted fire insurance. I didn’t understand about the love of God. I didn’t want to go to hell. So I trusted Christ as my Savior. He saved me, gave me eternal life. And I know that I’m going to heaven when I die. Why? Because I know I can’t go to hell. So if you know you’re going to heaven, then you have to also know you are not going to hell. When you witnessed the people and you asked them the question, do you know where you’re going when you die?
Oh, a lot of them would be religious. They say, oh, yes, I’m going to heaven. Is there any way possible you could go to hell? Well, if I don’t live right, if I don’t do this, then I’m going to hell. don’t really understand it. They don’t know where they’re going when they die. They’re not sure. You see, unless you are eternally secure, there is no security. The only reason we can be eternally secure is it was totally free. But if it depends on how I perform, then it’s no longer free and no longer secure.
How many of you really understand what I’m saying? Let me see your hand. Okay, put it down. Raise the other hand. No, no, just a minute. Oh, it should be doubly sure. doubly sure. Let me show you an illustration that I thought of while I was talking that I think this might help explain a little bit better. Now you watch me. At no time will this hand ever leave my wrists. So watch real close. This is you and me, the wallet represents sin.
We all have sin on us. Now God says he loves us. And I hate our sin, but He loves us. But because we’ve all sinned, we’re all condemned. The way the sin is death. To go to heaven, we have to be perfect, as righteous as God. And none of us are perfect. Because of sin, say, we can’t get in. So how do we get to heaven? We have a debt to pay. We have to pay for our sins. And we’re all guilty, so we’re all in the same boat.
Nobody’s even better than anybody else in God’s eyes. We’ve all come short of perfection. This end represents Jesus Christ. You’ve heard about this probably all your life. Jesus Christ, God in the flesh. Now He came into the world because He loves us. Now He hates our sin because our sin separates us from Him. So I can’t get to God and He can’t get to me because of sin, it separates us. So what Jesus Christ did, He had no sin.
He didn’t have to die. So He took all the sin of all the world, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead. And he says, the only thing you have to do to go to heaven is well you believe that I loved you so much that I paid for your sins. You don’t have to earn it. You don’t have to work for it. I’m giving it to you free because I love you. I love you. And he says it’s free.
He paid for all of my sins. I’m not going to heaven because I deserve to go to heaven because something that I’ve done It’s all because of what Christ did on the cross from me. He gets all the credit, all the honor, all the glory. I’ve done nothing. All I had to do is believe it. That means if I believe this, I’m not trying to earn my way to heaven. For the rest of my life, I don’t have to do anything.
But I want to serve him. But I’m so glad I don’t have to do it to go to heaven. I can do it because I want to. I would rather serve God because I love him than for the fear I’m going to hell. you want your children to obey you because they love you and not on the fear because you’re going to work.
