Look there in verse 19 of chapter 14. When he also says in verse 20, Thou prevail us forever against Him, and He passes. Thou changes His countenance and sendeth Him away. His sons come to honor, and He knoweth it not. They are brought low, but He perceives it not of them. For His flesh upon Him shall have pain, and His soul within Him shall mourn. God says, there’s the problem that people have because these bodies, we can’t trust them.
Our mind, we can’t trust it. even our own love that we have and our perception, the perspective that we have on life. It’s not the same as God because God says, your thoughts are not my thoughts and your ways are not my ways. My thoughts are higher than yours and my ways are higher than yours. God wants to not put us down for how far we’ve come, but he wants to reveal to us how far we need to go.
How much closer you can be to the Lord. How much greater your hope in the Lord can be, confidence in your trust in the Lord it can be. And it can be. Look at the next statement, we’ll just read it out of your notes in Job 1715. And where’s now my hope? As for my hope, who shall see it? Not from his friends, not from his friends, because he had some friends and they gave him no comfort, they gave him no hope.
And what they gave him was bad advice. You can read that. But here in Job chapter 27, I want you to see this. Job 27. Job 27 and look there in verse 8. Job 27 and verse 8. And we’ll go down to a few of these verses. He says in verse 8, for what is the hope of the hypocrite though he hath gained when God takes away his soul? You believe there’s a lot of people that are never trusted Christ’s Savior, that are religious but lost, putting their hope and their good works to get them to heaven.
And when they die, when God takes away their soul, what a shock is going to be. To find out they were trusting in the wrong thing. He says, well God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him. Well he delight himself in the Almighty, what he always call upon God. I will teach you by the hand of God that which with the Almighty while I not conceal. And he goes on down here and says some things that we need to be aware of.
But I want you to also know there in chapter 29, look in chapter 29. Chapter 29 talks about the things that Job had done. And he says, I did all these things. I worked so hard. I was so faithful. God, why did you allow all this to happen. So he says here in verse 15, I was eyes to the blind and feet was eye to the lame. I was a father to the poor and the calls which I knew not I searched out and I break the jaws of the wicked and plucked the sprawl out of his teeth.
Then I said, I shall die in my nest and I shall multiply my days at the sand. They thought I was going to like my little nest egg set up and I’m ready to retire and everything’s going to wonderful and then it seemed like his whole world. His whole world fell apart. Now as you go through and you study all these things that happened to Job, it makes you wonder what in the world could happen to me. And yet he said it one time when he was low in his life, I have no hope.
I have no hope. But I want you to find out there is. Look there in your notes there to Psalms 31. You see, God does not want us to put our confidence in our hope in things that will not. Suffice. You may put your confidence and trust in money. You can put it all in your husband. He might fail you. You can put it in your wife and she might fail you. You can put it in your kids and your kids may fail you.
You see, we’re human. We don’t always say and do everything we’re supposed to do. But God never fails. That’s why you’re to put your confidence, your trust in the Lord. Here in Psalms, he says, be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart. All ye that hope or trust in the Lord. Isn’t that a good verse? That’s a great verse. Look at the next one. Psalm 71 and verse 5, for thou art my hope, oh Lord God, thou art my trust from my youth.
The next one in verse 14 of Psalm 71, but I will hope the word continually you ought to circle that word. I will continually and will yet see the result of you putting your confidence and your trust and you really believe believe it is that you can go ahead and praise God now for what he’s going to do. He hasn’t had to have done it yet, but you believe him and you trust him and it doesn’t matter what happens to you in life, what happens is how you handle it, how you respond to it.
Everybody’s going to go through pretty much the same kind of problems we all do and we’re all going to live and we’re going to die. Put your compass and your trust in the Lord. Don’t put it in you, don’t put it in the preacher, don’t put it into church, put it in the Lord. The Lord will not fail you. Look at the next statement, Proverbs 11-7, when a wicked man died, his expectation shall perish and the hope of unjust men perish him.
Because when you trust in the wrong thing and you can have all the dreams that you want, but when you die, that’s the end of it. You can’t carry out any more of your wishes, of your desires, of your dreams. It’s all over. And so this is why I put your common, your trust in Lord, and serve Him. And when you get to heaven, it doesn’t stop. It’s just a continuation. I was talking to them yesterday, I said, whenever a man dies in this life, and we go to be with the Lord in heaven, heaven is just one long eternal day, because there’s no night there.
We all get to heaven the same day. Isn’t that good? I like that. Look down to the bottom of the page, Jeremiah 17, 7 said, blessed is the man that trust us in the Lord. That word blessed me to sing this happy. Happy is that man that puts his confidence trust in the Lord because you believe what God says. So the more you know about the promises of God, the more joy you can have in this life. Isn’t it a shame that so many Christians are so down in the dumps?
So down, so discouraged, so in despair. And you don’t have to be there. You’re gonna have some sorrow and grief along the way, But don’t grieve for long, don’t grieve forever, because that’s not the will of God. We gotta keep moving on, keep things going. And some of us may be fine today, but we’re gonna face a lot of heartache tomorrow, and we don’t know exactly what it’s gonna be, or when it’s gonna happen. God does trust him. Look at the next statement.
Top of the page there, Ephesians 2, 12 makes a statement. That at that time you were without Christ, been aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, having no hope. You see, when you’re lost and nobody brings to gospel, you don’t have any hope. There’s people who have absolutely no hope of where they’re going to go when they die. Aren’t you glad you know where you’re going when you die? There’s some people don’t have that hope.
But your hope is a secure thing because it’s joyful anticipation. I know where I’m going when I die, but a lot of people don’t have that. And this is why we know that if we take them the gospel based upon the Word of God, who so ever believe it than him should not perish but have everlasting life. We know that. We believe it. And so we can share that because we got confidence in that. We agree with what God has to say.
And when He says for by grace are you saved through faith that not of yourself. It is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast. We believe that. So we tell people you can’t earn eternal life. and you can’t boast about it because it’s by grace alone. And faith in what Christ did for you. We tell them this is what God said because we believe what God’s word said. And we live according to that. Look at the next statement.
First Thessalonians 4, 13 said, but I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning them which are asleep that you sorrow not even as others which have no hope. There is no hope. They have no hope of ever seeing their loved ones again when they don’t know Christ as their Savior. My son died. know I’ll see him again. Hayshluf, son died, they know we’re going to see him again. When they trust Christ as they’re saying, you know you’re going to see him again.
How do you know? God said so. And that joyful anticipation. So I don’t mourn all the days of my life. There’s a grieving process, but my hope is in what God said. And therefore I’m just going to try to keep helping, see if I can find somebody else’s son, or somebody else’s daughter, get them to trust Christ’s Savior. Because you see, all of us were here for a reason. And if I walk with God, I believe God won’t be right to somebody that needs the Lord.
Because God came to seek and to save that which was lost. So if I’m walking with the Lord and he’s seeking the lost, he’s got to leave me to them. Don’t that make sense? Oh, that makes sense. Look at the next statement. Hope is good. Hope is good. It is good, lamentation. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord. One of these days is going to deliver us from this world.
And because we have our hope and God, we can patiently wait. You see, when you don’t trust the Lord and His timing, and He doesn’t work according to our schedule, we become impatient. You ever heard about a guy that got a little impatient? There’s a few of them in the Bible that got a little impatient and did think they shouldn’t have done. Remember Abraham, he took a woman and they believed the problem we got today. I don’t have to tell you the rest of it, but you get the point.
And the day you’ll make decisions because you won’t be thinking about the consequences down the road, and today you’re probably suffering the consequences because 10 years ago you weren’t thinking about the consequences down the road. And now they come back to hunt you. It’ll happen. Look at the next statement. Jose talks about the door of hope. What we do is we give people a door of hope. We’re open and up a door and say, look, Jesus is, I am the door, no man come up unto the Father, but by me and so we give them a door of hope, a opportunity.
You can be saved, you can have eternal life, you can go to heaven. All you need to do is accept Jesus Christ as your savior and you can go to heaven whenever you die. Look at the next verse on here, Romans 15 and verse four He says for whatsoever things were written for time, were written for our learning, that we through patient and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. And get this, God calls himself the God of hope.
See there at the next verse, verse 13. Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing. You see, when you don’t believe what God says, you’re not gonna be filled with love and joy and hope and peace and long suffering, gentleness and goodness and kindness and temperance. You’re not going to have it. Why? Because you don’t believe God. You believe you. You believe what the devil told you. And he told you lies. It caused you to question.
It caused you to doubt. And it takes away all that joy of anticipating something that couldn’t be real. You believe in something that’s false. And you’ll worry yourself sick and it’ll destroy you. Look at the next statement where he says in Corinthians, that you have such hope, use great plainness of speech because I believe if I speak clearly and give the gospel that people can understand it, that people will trust Christ as their Savior. I believe that. I believe that if I make the Word of God clear and simple for his children to understand, they’ll learn how to correct problems in their own life and everybody don’t have to come and have a council meeting with the pastor.
I counsel everybody every time you come to services. I’m telling you how to live. I’m counseling you. I’m telling you, this is good and this is bad. This is right and this is wrong. But I’m letting the Word of God do it. And the Word of God don’t move you. I don’t care to. If God’s Word don’t convict you, I don’t need to. I’m not God. And I don’t play God in people’s lives. I’m not the Holy Spirit. Every man needs to realize for himself, how to examine his life and how to correct problems.
I can’t walk home with every one of you all hold your hand. It’s impossible and I don’t want to do it anyway. Look to the next statement in Colossians 1 5, for the hope which is laid for you in heaven. Where have you heard before the word of the truth of the gospel? I’ve got things laid up for me. You know how I know I’ve got treasures in heaven? Because God says lay up treasures in heaven so that you don’t lose them.
And so God is going to reward and He says God is not unrighteous to forget your work and your labor of love. So whatever you do down here for the Lord, God’s is going to reward you when you get there. So how do I know? Because God said so. See if you believe what God says, you can accept what God says and you live up on that and they can have the joy that you’re supposed to have. Fear is a terrible thing to live.
Because it destroys the love. Love casts us out fear that fear produces torment and many people live their whole lives in torment. Because they never learn how to take God as word to trust the Lord. Look at the next statement. He says in Corinthians 1 and 27, to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. This joyful anticipation that someday down the road, God is going to take this body of mind and he’s going to change it and fashion it like unto his glorious body.
That day is going to happen. Christ in me. Now, me in him, that’s my position in him. Christ in me is his position in me here in this life. So I know wherever I go, Christ is in me. But God looks at it from his point of view and I am in him I am in Him and I’m seated in the heavenlies. That’s secure and that’s done. It can never be changed. So there’s just a great advantage of knowing what the world of God says, though, that you live according to the principles laid down in His Word.
Look at the next statement. Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love and patience of hope. This is what caused you to be patient and to wait upon the Lord and to trust Him. And don’t take things into your own hands to manipulate things. You don’t have to wrong anybody. No man in business has to do any air, any wrong of any kind to anybody in order to get ahead if you put your confidence and trust in the Lord.
You see, when you don’t trust God, you’re going to manipulate and you’re going to become a dishonest person. When you work for somebody earn what you receive, always be faithful. Do right honor God because he says for you serve the Lord Christ. God sees. Anybody you work for? Remember do it as though you are working for the Lord. And you’d be surprised the difference it can make in your life. Leave the next statement. Down here in Titus 2 he says, in hope of eternal life which God, now get what this hope is based upon.
God that cannot lie. And God promised. What did He promise eternal life to whosoever would believe. So when you believe on Christ, He gives you the free gift of everlasting life. And that’s how I know that I’m going to heaven when I die. Look at the next one there in this verse looking for that blessed hope, the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. He says He’s coming back. So the blessed hope the joyful anticipation Christ is coming back.
Do you believe that? That’s why he says he that hath this hope in him purifies himself. In other words, if I believe that Christ could come back today then I want to live in such a way that I’m ready for him. That’s what helps you to guard your testimony to refrain you from doing the things and saying the things and going places that you ought not because Christ could come in a moment. And I don’t want to be saying something I shouldn’t say.
I don’t I don’t want to be doing something I shouldn’t do, and I don’t want to be somewhere I shouldn’t be. Because if you believe it, but if you don’t believe that, well then it’s gonna make a difference on how you live. You see it, truth theology, correct doctrine affects your life. And that’s why you’re supposed to believe the truth, study the word of God. Look at the next statement down here. First Peter 1, 3, says, blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy be gotten us again unto a lively hope or a living hope.
This is a joy of anticipation that lives inside of us. One day I’m gonna see God face to face. I’m gonna be with him. I know I have eternal, I’m gonna live forever and it’s not far away that I’m gonna get a brand new spanking new body. I don’t know what it looks like but it’ll be better than when I got down. I’ve already noticed this when I’ve gotten starting to get a few little creeks and aches and groans and all that.
Yours don’t have that. Oh yes, I heard that. I bet if I went to your home and see what kind of pain medicine you got, huh? Tell a few things. We’ve all got him. And then he makes this statement, the last one down there, and every man that hath this hope and impurefied himself even as he is pure. What about those who have a false hope? You know, whenever you read there in the book of Matthew 7, it says, many will say to me in that day, many.
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? So, evidently they had hope and confidence that prophesied in his name was going to get something for them. They’re going to get something. He said, and in thy name cast out demons. Oh, look what we did. We cast out devils and thy name done many wonderful works. I mean, how much better could we have done? Look, look what we did. Look what we did. But their hope was in what they did.
Now, I didn’t what Christ did. for them. It was in what they did for God. Think of how many people go to church trying to please God. Doing good work, giving money, great humanitarian, they do all kinds of stuff. They travel the world. But they’re putting their confidence, their hope, and what they’re doing. So Christ says in the last verse there, then, while I profess to them, I never know you. Not that I used to know you, but you didn’t maintain so I didn’t know you anymore.
No, I didn’t say this, I never knew you. You never put your trust, you’re confident with me. You see, the Bible says God knoweth them that are His. The book of Timothy chapter 2 verse 19, having this seal, this confident, this foundation, God knoweth them that are His. I have that knowledge that God knows me. And because God knows me, He can never say, I don’t know who you are. I never knew you. Yes, you do. I trusted you as my Savior when I was 18 years old.
You know me. I was born into your family. You are my heavenly Father and God can’t deny it because my trust is only in Him. It was never in my good works or my good deeds. But look at the people that are led astray that are putting their confidence, their trust, their hope in their good works to get them to heaven. And Think of the surprise they’re going to have. The day they die and find out that they wake up in a literal fire burning hell and it’s forever.
That’s a false hope. There’s people who had no hope, but there’s those who have genuine hope because it’s placed upon what God’s word has to say. That’s the best news I’ve ever heard in my whole life. Is what Christ did for me. Look up here, this hand represents you and me. This wallet represents sin. Now we all have sin on us. Everybody, all of us have sinned. We’ve all done things wrong. God loves us. He hates what we do wrong, but He loves us.
And since we have all done the same thing, we’ve all sinned. Whatever it is, we’ve done it. And so because of sin, we’re be eternally separated from the Lord in a literal fire burning hell forever. and we do not have the power to save ourselves. There’s nothing that we can do to save ourselves. We’re already condemned. Everybody’s condemned. But God loves us once we go to heaven, and to go to heaven we have to be perfect, no sin. So how in the world can we get to heaven and get rid of this?
Because if we paid for it, we have to die to pay for it. We’re just in His death. This hand represents Jesus Christ, He’s the Lord God in the flesh. He came into this world because he loves us. He hates our sin, but he loves us. How do I know that? The Bible says so. Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible. Bible tells me so. That’s how I know it. I learned that song when I was a kid.
Had no clue what it meant. Even a little old song like Jesus loves me. Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white. they are precious in his sight. Jesus loves the little children out of the world, but when they grow up, they don’t love them anymore. No, he loves us, hates our sin. And the Bible says that Christ did something for us. This hand representing Jesus Christ, he’s the Lord God in the flesh.
He came into this world because he loves us. He hates our sin because our sin separates us from the Lord. So Jesus Christ, who had no sin, didn’t have to die. He took all the sin of all the world, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead, and said the only thing He wanted us to do to go to heaven is believe that He did it for us. So if I believed that, He puts this payment to my account.
And when I was 18 years old, I believed it. So He put this payment to my account. So I have a payment for how many of my sins? All of them. How many did He die for? Oh, all of them. all my sins have been paid from the time I’m born, till the time I die, all of mine paid for 2,000 years ago. So he gave me as a free gift everlasting life and I’m going to heaven on what Christ did for me.
See my hope is in the Lord, my trust in Him, my confidence is what He did for me. It’s not in what I do for Him, it’s what He did for me. And this is what He did for me. So that’s why I can have a a joyful anticipation of seeing the Lord. Face to face, once and for all, for all eternity. And he promised, I get the new body, I get a new home, new eternity, and meet the whole of these people that have trusted Christ of Savior on planet Earth.
We’re all going to be in the same family. One big, happy family. Finally, we’ll get along. Down here, if we don’t get along too good, we hurt each other and all kinds of things. But isn’t it wonderful to know what God has promised? That’s the best news in the world. Let’s pray, shall we? With heads bowed and I close and no one looking around. If you have never trusted Christ as your savior, friend, I urge you to do just that.
There’s no tricks to it, no gimmicks. But it’s right where you are. You see, preach to that made sense to me. I wanna put my confidence, my hope, my trust in Christ. Do it right now. Just between you and the Lord, say, Lord, I know I’m a sinner. I have questions and I have doubts, but I’m gonna put my confidence on what you did on the cross for me. And friend, if you’ll trust him, it’s your savior right now.
He said he would save you and give you eternal life as a gift. He’d never cast you out, never lose you. Would you trust him? If you will make that decision, I’d like to know and I’d like to have prayer for you. So I’m gonna ask you, if you’re just slipping in it very quickly, put it right back down. You don’t have to come forward. Just right where you are, so you breathe in. That made sense to me. I’ll trust Christ as my Savior.
Anyone all before we close? No one at all. Just slip it up very quickly. You that have trusted Christ as Savior, or if you’re watching by internet, you can trust Christ as your Savior right where you are, right on the screen says, yes, I’ll trust the Lord. We’d love to know. Love to hear from you. This morning we’re gonna have communion service. If you have already put your confidence, your trust and what Christ did on the cross for you, The communion service this morning is designed with you and mine.
It’s to help us to remember what he did for us on the cross. And you see, when we take God at His Word and we know that what He has done, we believe that. He says He will come in the future. We believe that. Every time we do communion is because our hope is in the Lord. Our trust is in what He did and what He’s going to do. believe it. And we believe that one day we’re going to see him or we’re going to be with him.
And he’s going to reward us for whatever we’ve done for him. So if there’s anything in your life right now that you need to talk to the Lord about, want to go ahead and do that, say Lord, I’ve done wrong. I send and I confess that to you. And I accept your forgiveness. And whenever you come today, partake in of the Lord’s Supper, let it be because you do it with a humble heart, a gracious heart, because of what He has done for you.
And forgive others because God has for Christ’s sake forgiven you. Our Father, we thank you again for your blessings. Thank you for all you’ve done for us. Thank you for the service today and for each person that’s here. Bless them in Christ’s name we pray. Are you a new listener to Bibleline? Do you enjoy the teachings of Dr. Arnold?
