are if you stop certain the Lord and you go around you get it to yourself you will corrupt your mind. When you compare your wisdom with God’s and think you’re just a little bit brighter, a little bit smarter. You don’t have to do like, well everybody else wants to say, I’m gonna serve the Lord my own way. You’ll serve God’s way or you won’t serve the Lord. It’s not the way it’s gonna work. God has His will and you’re gonna have to submit to it and that means sometimes you have to swallow your pride.
I didn’t like doing that. I wasn’t used to somebody telling me, I wasn’t raised with a dad telling me what I couldn’t do. I did whatever I wanted and I stayed out as late as I wanted and I ran around all night long if I wanted and I did. And when I got ready to, I hitch-tiked all the way across America because I wanted to. I didn’t answer to anybody. When I got married, five states in a year and a half because I would not yield to authority.
That’s That’s why I did not know if I would ever make it in Baba College, because I had to stay in one spot and submit myself and have some teachers tell me what I couldn’t couldn’t do, what I had to know and all that. And that was very difficult for me, but I came to the conclusion I wanted it more than anything else in the world. So I had to learn to yield to authority. Whenever you have kids that won’t yield to authority, they’re a poor risk for married boy or girl, it don’t matter.
If they don’t love their mom and dad and treat their parents right, they’re not going to treat you right. Just watch to see how they’re doing. Learn things. It’ll help you tremendously. But in chapter 17 and verse 6, go ahead and read that, Bob. In those days, there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes. Go ahead and read the one in 21, 25. In those days, there was no king in Israel.
Every man did that which was right in his own eyes. I figured you’d have it memorized by now. Every man did that which was right and what? In his own eyes. These are warnings in the scripture. Isn’t it true that most people do what they wanna do instead of what God says? In other words, they think that the Lord’s will is like going through a cafeteria line and you can pick and choose what you like. Well, I don’t like that.
So I’m not gonna obey that one. Well, I like this verse. I don’t like that verse. You know, I like the lettuce here and I like this, but I don’t like that and I don’t want that. And you think that’s the way the Christian life is. No, God’s gonna put things in your life that you’re not gonna like. He’s gonna allow things to come, to happen, experiences, trials, and tribulations. And you may have to have all of those things, but God knows how He’s working in your life and all these things are very important.
But some people just do not want authority. Stop fighting God. Just yield to him. Just do whatever God wants you to doestyles. Learn his word and obey it. Don’t get to the place where you have to always, you know, God has to talk you into everything. Don’t be like Moses battling against it. He wasn’t doing it, but he was a bitter man. Moses was a bitter individual. He had anger problems. Now, you notice the scripture here says, I have spread out my hands all the day on to get to a rebellious people.
They did it to themselves, which walked in a way that was not good. After, and you had on the line that, their own thoughts. Their own thoughts and you got thoughts. But remember this, Satan cannot read your mind. I don’t believe I believe he can put thoughts into your mind. And you have to learn how to discern the thoughts. And what is a verse in the Bible that can help you discern your thoughts in the intense of the heart.
There’s a verse in the Bible that says something like that. Where? Hebrews chapter four and verse 12. And word of God will help you discern the thoughts whether they are of God. or they’re not. All God’s thoughts will lead towards Godliness, holiness, and they’re good, but verses or thoughts that will not, they’re not from the Lord. That’s the Holy Spirit, not on the Holy Spirit. Look at letter C. Letter C always being right. Proverbs 16 too, read that John.
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the Lord way at the Spirit’s. In his own eyes, everything is clean. I mean, he believes he’s right. Now, have you ever met somebody who’s always right? They’re never wrong. They’re always right. I mean, is there anybody else like that beside me? Yes, it’s good me. But there’s some people that they’re never wrong. They’re never wrong. They say one of the problems that old Trump has is he never apologized for anything.
Well, I guess it’s because he thinks he’s always right. Is he? I don’t know. But you are an individual and if you’re wrong, you’re wrong. Always weigh your thoughts, your deeds, your words, your actions, your motives, all those according to the will of God and see how you’re doing. And unexamined life is not worth living. So you want to weigh these things. That’s what a wise man does. A wise man will examine himself, but if you’re not wise, you will destroy yourself.
You will corrupt your manners, you’ll corrupt your ways, your language. Everything about you gets corrupted. In other words, it’s not pure like God wants it to be. Look at the next verse there. 21 and verse 2. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes. in his own eyes. But the Lord pondereth the hearts. This is always continually talks about in a man’s eyes. The book of Proverbs is loaded with wise statements and because if you’re looking for wisdom then the book of Proverbs is a good book for doing so.
If you’re looking for warmth and understanding from the Lord then the Psalms will be good in going over problems that you may be having because that deals with how you think and feel. And this is why it’s so important to study those two books especially. Look at letter D. The majority of one’s time, talent and treasure spent on self. Instead of first Kings’ era, I want us to take our Bibles and turn to the book of Luke. Turn to the book of Luke in chapter 11.
Luke chapter 11. I want you to see a couple of these verses here. Because otherwise, you know, your life is about yourself. And the Lord warns us about laying up treasures upon earth for yourself. There’s nothing wrong in having things. If you’ll understand, get things right, spend things right, save things right, give things right, there’s nothing wrong and wealth. It’s the love of money that is the root of all evil, not money. But you look there in Luke in chapter 12, did I say chapter 12?
I meant 12. Well that’s the first mistake I’ve ever made. Look in verse 11, see I just apologized didn’t I? But anyway in verse 15 he says, and he said unto them, take heed and beware of covetousness for a man’s life consist of not in the abundance of the things which he possesses. There’s a lot of people in this world that believe just that. They believe that their value of their life is revealed by how much they possess. And I’m a millionaire, I’m a trillionaire, billionaire, or whatever.
So what? When you die, you’re going to leave everything and it don’t matter how much. You can’t live, I don’t get how much money up. You can’t live. I don’t believe a more happier life than I can live if I don’t have it. I still am an individual. Some people are content with very little and they’re peaceful and they have joy and they’re happy. Not all rich folks are happy in case you didn’t know that. All poor folks are not miserable.
Some of the poorest folks are happy folks because sometimes all they got is each other. And they can get along better sometime. But it’s amazing how many people they get married and lo and behold, they kill them one another. Just to get their money. Always say, be nice to your kids. They might determine which nursing home you go to. Then you’ll notice down here, he makes a statement in verse 20. But God said unto him, Thou full, this night thy soul shall be required, and then whose shall those things be which Thou hast provided?
So is he that lath up treasure for, and see that word himself, for himself, and is not rich toward God. Did you know the Bible talks about in Corinthians about being poor, yet making many rich? Because you’ve got something that people need. I believe the knowledge, the truth that we have from the Word of God, we’re able to make many people rich. You ought to see some of the emails and comments that I got. I mean, I get so many of them that just wonderful to read.
I get a few of the other kind too, but I just don’t pay them no attention. I mean, I can’t help it if everybody doesn’t love me, but I do appreciate the few that do. Look at the next script you’re down here. Where we have number five signs of deny himself. Philippians chapter two verse five to eight John John read that. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men.
and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedientPASS even the death of the cross. Now that is total submission. When it’s under death, that’s total submission. I’ve had people say, I’m willing to die for the Lord. Yeah, but God may want you just to live for him. And if you won’t live for him, you’re not going to die for him. But remember what he says in the book of Romans in chapter 12? I’ll be seated there for a brother by the mercies of Christ.
God, in view of what He’s done for you, that you present your body as a living sacrifice, wholly acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service, that this is what God wants us to do. And to make a sacrifice, present your body as a living, living, not dying, but a living sacrifice, wholly unacceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Galatians 5 Belichick and 23. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.
Against such there is no law. These are the things that are to be the qualities. Remember a couple weeks ago well whatever it was. I talked about the attributes of the Lord and these attributes of the Lord are supposed to be magnified in our life and that the Holy Spirit is working in our life, then we should be able to not only have for ourselves a love and joy and peace inwardly, but they should be the fruit coming from us that we should learn to love.
That’s not bad. And to have joy. So the seeds, so the fruit and see, because you want other people to have what you have. And there’s some people who will deny themselves of things in the world, but look what you’re going to get in place of it. I preached a sermon years ago called the principle of replacement. When you want a child to get rid of that toy he’s playing with, you’ve got to offer him something better in its place.
And you’ll throw that down and get this one. Or if he’s playing with this toy, just put another little kid down there and he’ll play with that toy and then he wants that toy. It’s the principle of replacement. If you’re going to give up something in the flesh and get rid of that, you need to replace it with something better. So keep replacing the things of this world and the lust of the flesh and all those desires and all that, replacing with something that’s better.
Then it’s easy. It’s easy to do something that you really have the desire to do and want to do, then the Christian life doesn’t become hard. It becomes easy when you want to do something. And if you learn that little lesson, it’s going to help you tremendously. Number six down there at the bottom, our example, of course, the best example is always Christ. When we’re talking about doing the will of God, look what he says. He said, for I came down from heaven not to do my own will.
That little phrase right here alone should help most Christians. I am not here to do my own will. I want to do the will of him that sent me, the will of him that saved me, the one that left me here, they gave me an opportunity to live for the Lord, to serve the Lord. That’s what I want.” He said, but the will of him that sent me. In John 8.50 he says, and I seek not my own glory.
Remember, there’s a scripture in the first Peter talks about every man shall receive his own praise, honor, and glory. In other words, the trial of your faith is much more precious than gold and silver, though it be tried with fire, that might be, you know, whenever that time comes and the Lord is going to give you praise, honor, and glory. Now, in this life, God already knew we want praise and we want honor and we want glory. Everybody does.
This is a reason for the football games. This is a reason for any kind of competition. You even do this on your job. If you do a good job, you want praise, and you want to be recognized. You wanna, you may not say it, but you have a personal pride in some of the things you do. Now sometimes you’re ashamed of what you did, I know. But if you serve people to get praise, uninglory from individuals, they can give it, He can also take it away.
And praise, honor, and glory from people is short lived. Your wife may praise you for what you did yesterday. That has absolutely nothing about what you’re supposed to do today. And you can do the right things. And then next thing you know, one wrong thing and then you wish, oh my stars, where do Ronald’s name come from? But here’s the key. You can get it from man and it’s over. or if you’ll be patient and wait and you’ll do what you do because you want God’s praise.
Well done thou good and faithful servant. You want him to honor you? He said, if any man served me, him will my father honor. Praise honor and glory. And one day we’re going to get to heaven and whatever the rewards are they’re going to last for eternity. And the glory that we will have when we get to be with, we’re going to have glorified bodies, all that. But God says, if you’ll wait until then. And I’m going to let you have all these trials and tribulations.
But when you get to heaven, it’s going to be worth it. And I’m going to give to every man his praise, honor and glory. And God says, every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. And in 1 Corinthians in chapter 4, he talks about at the Judgement City of Christ and to judge nothing before the time. If you did it for the Lord, leave it there. Because see, some people, if they don’t get that personal recognition for everything that they do and a little praise for everything that they do, then they just stop doing it.
Now if you did it for the Lord, you don’t have to ever stop. Don’t have to worry about people. People come and go and people change. There’s been time when people have been so good to the ministry and good to me and so on. And I, sometimes I get busy and I don’t even think about saying, no, thank you. And I just go on. And then I find out somebody got mad and left the church because I never thanked them for what they did.
Oh, That hurts, but it hurts, but it’s done. It hurts because I’m human and I fail to recognize or to say something and then I I failed to show the appreciation that I should and you know, I Can’t wait I get to heaven Stop all this stuff So I didn’t try to figure out my motives anymore. Just serve the Lord and I think he’ll take care of the rest of it Look at the next statement down here. I want you to see this.
Take your Bible looking Psalms 81. Psalms 81, a couple of good verses here that will knock your socks off. You may want to keep your socks on. Psalms 81 and looking verse 8. He’s doing a little reminiscing here. Here, O my people, and I will testify unto thee. O Israel, if thou wah hearken unto me. There shall no strange God be in thee, neither shall thou worship any strange God. I am the Lord thy God, which brought the out of the land of Egypt.
Open thy mouth wide.” Good on the line there. Open thy mouth wide and I will fill it. God doesn’t want you to be mealy mouth. There’s a time to have confidence and boldness in coming before the throne of grace and opening your mouth wide and God says and I’ll fill it. God is looking for somebody that he can bless. Somebody can believe him. Somebody that can trust him. Somebody that wants something more and he says but my people would not harken to my voice and Israel would none of me.
They didn’t want none in him. They didn’t want to do anything with God. Look who they were, how special they were, what God had done. And then they don’t, nothing to do with him. How would you feel if your wife or your husband, your kids, your grandkids don’t want anything to do with you? Wouldn’t have hurt a little bit. He says in verse 12, so I gave them up Until they get this, you are on the line, these words.
Their own heart’s lust. You see, a lot of people have desires that are contrary to God and they want to go their own way, do their own thing. Some people just do not love the Lord. They don’t love the Lord enough to make it supreme over what all the other desires may be. So, and they walked in their own councils. Why do you think these verses are into Bible? Do you think there’s a warning here anywhere? Look what else he says in verse 13, Oh, that my people had hearkened unto me.
And Israel had walked in my way, if they had only done so. You know, Matthew chapter 23 and verse 37, he says pretty much the same thing. Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem. How often I would have gathered you together so he hadn’t gathered a chicken. He said, and you would not, you would not. In other words, the way it is is not the way God, God said, you could have been so much better. Wouldn’t it be a shame after you have lived your life to find out how much richer you could have been, how much more peace and joy and love that you could have, how much more you could have been used by the Lord and you have hindered the Lord and you resisted the Holy Spirit, you would not yield to His will?
What a day. Looking at verse 14, I should soon have subdued thine enemies, turn my hand against their adversaries. The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him, but their time should have endured forever. He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat, and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.” You see the the word should mention didn’t there anywhere, but it didn’t happen that way. Not because God wasn’t willing to do it, God wanted to.
It wanted to be something you get to heaven and you find out what God wanted to do in your life and you hindered him and you would not. I think it’s going to be a sad day for some, maybe there’ll be some tears in heaven. In the last part of it, should I have satisfied thee would have been so need. Now look in Proverbs chapter 1. Proverbs in chapter 1, something similar here. Proverbs chapter 1 verse 29, 29 to verse 31.
He says in verse 29, for that they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord. Looks like people might have a choice. Seemed like they may have a free will to choose the will of God or not to choose it. But they did not choose the fear of the Lord. They would none of my counsel, they despised all my reprove. You know how you despise the counseling of the God? You just have no time for church, you have no time to read, the Bible, no time to memorize scripture.
You don’t have no time. That’s what he’s talking about. You would none of my count. What do you think the word of God is? It’s God counseling his children. It’s a love letter to his children. Look in verse 31, therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own devices. In other words, they’re gonna walk into their own traps. They’re gonna snare themselves. They’re gonna destroy their selves. And this is why I wanted to preach a little sermon on Lord.
Save me from myself because you’re the biggest enemy you have. It’s not the devil. Devil just uses things, but he can’t destroy and take away victory out of your life without your permission. You’re the one that has to surrender. And because you take your eyes off the Lord or lift yourself up with pride thinking that I don’t need God’s counseling. I don’t need to be found faithful reading instead of the Bible. Some people want to buy, no, why should I go to Bible college?
But what is Bible college? Study in the Bible. That’s all it is. Study in the Bible so you can be prepared for life. All the boys I do. Those four little years I look back up on that looks like it was so monumental. Now that’s just a small part of my life. But what I’ve done with my life is because of those four years. What if I had not done that? Could it have made a difference in my life, the decisions that I made, where I’ve been, what I do, how I react, respond, whether I’m walking in the Council of Almighty Yankee or Almighty God, think there’s a difference.
I think so. Down at the bottom, got two verses I wanted just to read to you. What God is looking for him. The Lord has sought him a man after his own heart. Will you be that man? A man after my own heart which shall fulfill all my will. That’s what God’s looking for him. Somebody will do what he wants done. And whenever you get to heaven, don’t you think he’s going to really make it worth your while? You’re going to be so good.
glad, so glad that you learned how to save yourself of the Lord. Look up here. This hand represent you and me and the wallet represents sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us. I hate our sin, but He loves us. And the Bible says, the wage is the sin is death. That means eternal separation from God in a literal five-burn in hell. And God doesn’t want us going to hell, so He did something about it. He says, you can’t earn eternal life, you can’t work your way to heaven because you’ve got to be perfect and no one’s perfect.
So being good ain’t going to help you when I order. Changing your life, not going to help. Coming to church, giving money is not going to help. You need a Savior. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He is the only Savior there is. Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came into the world because He loves us, hates our sin because our sin separates us. So Christ took the sin, paid for it on the cross, and came back from the dead.
He said, if we would believe He did it for us, He’d put this We get to go to heaven on what it did for us. See, if I offered you my wallet and you accepted you’d have a wallet. If I offered you my microphone and you accepted you’d have a microphone, this is not even on. But if Christ walked in here right now and offered you eternal life and you accepted you’d have eternal life. And if it’s eternal life, it lasts forever.
And we’re having people, it seemed like every day, that trust the Christ is saved because of the Internet ministry. So if you’re watching tonight and you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior, God loves you, so do I. And He wants you to trust Him as your only hope of going to heaven. So if you’ve never done so, we could trust Him right now. Just depend upon what He did on the cross for you. When you believe it, God says He saves you, gives you eternal life.
He said, believe it on me, hath, President’s, hath everlasting life. Let’s pray, shall we? With His bow nice, close, and no one looking around. If you’re here, never have trust in Christ’s Savior. Savior I pray that you wouldn’t. The only thing you have to do is the only thing you can do and that’s to trust the Lord. Believe in it when Christ died He died for you paid for your sins and came back from the dead and God said when you believe it He saves you gives you eternal life.
And if you’re watching by internet right on the screen says yes I’ll trust Christ as my Savior just let us know that someone out there was listening and trust the Lord and I pray that that will be you. Father Well thank you again for your blessings. Thank you for all you’ve done for us, for the study of your word. Thank you for these here tonight. Christ, let me pray.
