And so it’s impossible to please God without doing what He tells you to do because it really places God when you read the Word of God and you believe it and you live by faith. Living by faith is taking God at His Word. Believing that what He says is true and you do that and God will bless you. So the next verse, so then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. You will not find the will of God watching some TV program.

You can enjoy it and be amused and it can be entertained, but you don’t generally find the Word of God on TV unless, well, it was there eight years when I was doing TV. Or if you listen to the radio, you can hear the Word of God. But one of the best ways is just to sit down with the Bible and begin to read it and study it and meditate in it. And He says, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Look at the next little statement I have here that’s in the bowl, don’t trade the love of the Lord in order to get the love of the world. God lays us down pretty strong because our whole Christian life after we’ve trusted the Lord is a test of our love. Do we love the Lord more than the things of the world? And that’s evident by the decisions that you make. So having choices, God will let you choose. Everything that’s against him, he’ll let you walk contrary to him.

That doesn’t mean he loves you less, but you won’t learn as much about him. Because he may have to chase and discipline. But he says, if you will obey me and serve me, he says, My Father will make Himself known to you. You’ll learn things about the Lord through obedience in any other way.” Now get this. The first statement there is love not the world. Who said that? Well the Word of God says that love not the world. Well what is the love of the world?

And you mean I’m not supposed to love being here? God put me here. Well there’s nothing wrong in being here. And He says that in this world He has freely given to us all things to enjoy. So we can enjoy a lot of things, but we’re not to love these things because everything in the world is gonna pass away. So don’t spend your life on all those things that will pass away. So he makes the comparison. Love not the world, neither the, see that word, things that are in the world.

If any man loved the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Not doesn’t say you’re not saved, because we’re not saved because we love God. We don’t have to love God to be saved. We’re saved because He loved us. And then He says, we love Him because He first loved us. And He says that the love of Christ is manifested. And He’s manifested His love toward us. And while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

So He’s already manifested His love toward us. Now the goal is, can we manifest our love back to Him by what He’s done for us? Now look at this. The very next verse tells you a little bit about what He means by love not the world. So He says, for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, this is what He’s talking about, the lust of the flesh. That’s the bitterness, the hatred, the envy, jealousy, backbiting.

It’s the desires of the flesh that are wicked, that are wrong and contrary to the will of God. And you’ll find that whole list mentioned in the book of Galatians in chapter 5. So every one of us have sinful desires. And what he’s saying is don’t love those sinful desires. Don’t make the goal of your life fulfilling, sinful desires. And you have to even watch your thought life. And then look at the next one. And the lust of the eyes.

That means the things that you can see. Don’t fall in love with the things of this world. The things that you desire of the flesh and the things that you can see. You can see a car and fall in love with that car. nothing wrong with having a car, nothing wrong with having a house, nothing wrong with having any of these things. A lot of God’s men were very prosperous and they had a lot of things, but don’t love them.

That you wrap your whole life around the things of this world that are gonna pass away and they eat up your time. Remember when he says that the devil runs to and fro and he’s like a lion seeking whom he may devour. The way he devours the Christian is he eats up your time. Gives us a spending time because he life is made up of time. When you waste time, you waste life. You waste opportunities, you waste purpose. You waste a awful lot and it’s gonna cost you dearly.

So don’t let the devil cause you to love something that will eat up nothing but your time and you’re not being profitable. You should try to be profitable and everything, every day that honors the Lord. Now get what else he says. And the pride of life. That means the honor, the fame, the glory. And God says, you don’t have to be the biggest, you don’t have to be the best. You don’t have to fill your life with the pride of seeking that.

Because see, whenever you want that, and you want it more than anything else in the world, and when you want things that money can buy, Remember it’s not the money is not the problem. It’s the love of money because, well, if I had the money, I can get this and get that and get it. And so people begin to fall in love with money and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. So he says, don’t love those things because they’re gonna bring a lot of heartache.

Things of the world are hard to get, and hard to keep, and great sorrow and all of them. And so many people have pierced themselves through and become so entangled with the affairs of this life that they cannot please him who have called him to be a soldier. So you have to watch that. Now get this. He says, for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of love is not of the Father, but is of the world.

And God knows that if his children want to walk with him and have fellowship with him, then you cannot fall in love with the world. There’s a division. There’s a separation and you need to learn to love the Lord with all your heart. Cause if you don’t, that’s why he says, unless you hate mother and father and brother and sister, so he says, you cannot serve me. Why? Because your love for them will mean more to you than the love you have for God.

And you will take and do what it takes to win them and not win Christ. Please them and not please Christ. You have to love the Lord enough that you willing to take the shame from every source in order to please God. Just something to think about. Now look at the next statement. The impact of doing God’s will will bring lifelong blessings. The longer I live, I believe the more of the blessings of God I see. was a time when I thought the blessings were all the good things that happened to me and all the things that happened to me that I didn’t like were the bad things.

I’m not totally convinced that that’s the perspective that I should have because there’s always a divine perspective from God’s angle and there is a human perspective from our angle. And we don’t always agree on what really is a blessing. Somebody came up with me long ago and it says, boy, I got some bad news. I says, no, you got some news. It’s not bad unless you have perceived it to be bad, but some things might comechieve as that’s bad, but it might be good.

And some things we consider that might be good might be bad. So there’s people who have news, but it depends on your perspective. And I find out that a lot of time my perspective isn’t right, I will react with a attitude towards something that’s happening in a very negative way. And so over the years I’ve tried to learn, don’t get over excited when I get news or below the level of average when I get what I think is bad news.

Because I’ve lived long enough to find out that some of those things that hurt have taught me very valuable lessons that down the road. I’ve been able to use a lot more than some of the good things that I thought was the best. And you will have your mind sharper. It will become more even sensitive and you can discern better. And so the blessings of life toward the end of life seems to become more rapid. And you look back over your life and you see where you were and how God has opened up doors and blessed and closed doors and things like that to bring us to where you are now.

And it ain’t that bad. It’s amazing how the devil can rob us out of so much peace and so much joy that we could have had and we forfeited it because of our attitude. Because everything that happened to Job was because God was mad at Job, God was punishing Job. He says, God just showed him how much further he needed to go. There was so many more lessons that Job needed to learn. And the latter end of Job was that God blessed him more than he ever had before.

It ain’t over yet. I’ve had people criticize me over the years. I just want to outlive them. Maybe I’ll have a good attitude. But just wait and be patient. Be patient. Look at this verse. And the world passes away and’,”the lust thereof,” but he that doeth the will of God, abideth forever. All the things done for the Lord will last forever. But I wrote these words down. Can you pay the price? Can you pay the price? There is a price to pay for discipleship.

There’s a price to pay for walking with God. There’s a price to pay for walking in love. There’s a price to pay for walking according to truth. Because in this world there’s a price to pay for doing right. And every man that will live godly will suffer persecution. Look at the next verse down here. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me and he that love of son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

What he means is it’s like, you know, here’s a woman she’s going to get married and she goes into the store and here’s a dress. Ah, it’s beautiful. Ten thousand dollars. And here’s another one over here, $25. She checks her purse and all she got is $30. Now she may want that one, but she can’t afford it. She can only afford this and this is all she can pay. When it comes to certain, the Lord says, this is really going to cost you.

Now you can serve me and you can just pay whatever you want. And I’ll just use your according to how much you’re willing to pay. And not all of God’s children are willing to pay the price. I believe most ministries are built upon the temporary dedication of God’s people. Wouldn’t it be neat if all of God’s people would stay dedicated all their life? You ever think, what in the world we could do? Most of my problems over the years has never been the lost man, always been the saved man.

I’ve won people to Christ, taught them a lot in the Lord, and have them stab me in the bank, and do all kinds of things to hurt me and and say things again. And I can’t say a word without destroying their character. So anytime I just let it go, God knows. And I think one of these days I’m gonna be in heaven with the Lord. Does he know the truth? Okay, then that’s all that matters. He knows the truth.

Nobody else needs to know. It doesn’t matter. He knows. And so you just live with that into God keeps the books, doesn’t he? Well, God keeps the book, believe it. Let it go. Otherwise, I tell people this, you must serve the Lord like you have never been hurt. Otherwise you’ll let hurt keep you from serving Lord because being hurt. If it’s not dealt with, see causes bitterness and bitterness is like a root that springs up and defiles many other people.

So you want to be careful. Look at the next statement about on the page and he that take if not his cross and follow after me is not worthy me. I mean, he can’t pay the price. That’s why so many people do not serve the Lord. Well, all their heart because it’s too expensive. They can’t afford it. It’s not that they can. It’s that they won’t. They won’t dedicate their life to the Lord because they’ve got to give up something or stop something, sacrifice something.

But the more you want from God and the closer you want to get to the Lord, if you’ll pay the price, it’ll be worth it. Because there’s going to be life, long blessings. Not just one here and one. No. your whole life becomes a blessing. So keep that in mind. Look at page two. He that find that his life shall lose it means can’t pay the price. And he that loses his life for my sake shall find it. Look what it costs you.

Cost you your life and you’ll find the way to please God, the way to walk in truth, the way to walk in love. And you’ll find things that many other Christians will never find. You will enjoy a walk with God and God would be more real to you than they close you’ve got on your back because you learned something that somebody else wasn’t willing to learn. But there’s a price to pay. Salvation, that’s always free. That’s the gift of God.

But serving the Lord, God is going to reward you for what you do. Look at the next statement. If you cannot find the time now to meditate in his word, you won’t find it later. You have to make time. Because you’ll just keep on week after week, year after year. Next thing you know, you’ve lived your whole life and you haven’t done anything God wanted to do because well, I didn’t have time. You’d be surprised how many people I’d say.

I just don’t have time. My plate’s full. Yeah, but it’s full of the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes the lust of the eyes and pride of life, because you’re not doing anything for God. What’s your plate full of? Every person has all the time they need to do what God wants them to do. It’s just that we choose not to do it. And sometimes we add baggage to ourselves. When he talks about running the race that God said before us and stripping down and getting rid of everything and the sin that thus so easily beset us so that we may finish our course and so on.

Look at the next statement I have up here. God never asked Joshua what he wanted to do with his life. God’s word commands. It is either obey or disobey. Here is the great man Moses and Joshua is his second in command and then God took Moses. God had purpose and a will for Joshua. So he came to Joshua and it says, now after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, he came to pass at the Lord spakened as Joshua and says, what would you like to do with your life?

What would you like to be? What would you like to go? After all, you know, it is your life. You know, we do this here because we want people to feel like, you’re free, you can do whatever you want to do with you. Let me, yeah, you can. But I want people to understand you need to know the will of God. What does God want me to do with my life? I belong to Him. I’ve been bought and paid for it.

Is there something God wants me to do? So my goal in life is to find out what is it that God wants me to do? It’s not, I just do whatever I want to do and ask God to bless it. Well, this is what I want. We’re just signing right here. Also, no, no, no, no, no, no. You just go ahead and sign it I’ll fill it in for you as you go. God never revealed all these things that’s happened to me since I left FBC.

That was in 1968. This is 2018, exactly 50 years ago I graduated. And I don’t know as I planned much of anything that’s happened. I just let it happen and made that decision as I went. God did not send me an envelope. do not open until needed. Now I just read and studied. And God gives us sometimes the desires. They light thyself, and the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of his heart. God can give me desires as I go.

And I believe that God uses those because of where I am in my walk with God. And God can lead and guide you in all the little details. And you trust him. You know his overall will and then it’s the little details. They always say the devil is in the details. Look at the next statement. Moses, my servant is dead. Now therefore a rise, go over this Jordan. Did God just tell him what to do? He did say, would you like to?

He says, this is what I’m telling you to do. This is a command. Then then he tells him something else. Look at the next verse. There shall not any man be able to stand before the all the days of thy life. As I was with Moses, I’ll be with thee. I will not fail thee nor forsake thee. God tell him this is what I’m going to do, and this is what I want you to do. And the next verse says, only be thou strong and very courageous that thou may have subsurbed to do according to all the law.

Well, wait, wait, wait. What did he ask Joshua if this is what he wanted to do with his life? He says, tell him. I enjoy telling all the college kids. This is what God wants you to do with your life. It’s either obey or disobey. It’s that the will of God for all of God’s children to honor him, to serve him, obey him. Should we be soul winners? Yes, see the obedience or disobedience? So simple, not hard, not complicated.

So it says, only be thou strong and very courageous that thou may as observed that according to all the law, which Moses might serve and commanded thee. Turn from it, not it to the right hand or to the left. Get this, that thou may as prosper. Does God want us to prosper? Yes, but prosperity in this world is determined by obedience to the will of God. It’s not based upon the accumulation of things that you have, but God had something that he wanted Joshua to do.

And his success is based upon, well, here my word, meditating my word day and night that thou may as absurd to do. All that I commanded you, I’ll be with you and I’ll not leave you, only be thou strong and very courageous. So he told him what he’s supposed to do. He said, I’ll never fail you, I’ll never leave you. And I want you to be successful, but doing success in prosperity is based upon him doing the will of God.

And see, if we seek to please the Lord, God is obligated himself to do certain things. I don’t believe that anything I’ve done in my life, since I’ve trusted Christ as my Savior and my walk with the Lord, is all my idea. I had just simply been amazed that God could use me at all, and or that He would. So I enjoy watching. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. I know there’s things that lies beyond my ability to do anything about.

And I have it time has been so motivated beyond my ability to perform. But it’s not ability. It’s availability. Being available where God can use you. Look at the next statement Psalms 25 verse 15, mine eyes are ever toward the Lord. As you walk with God, keep your eyes on God. Walk with the Lord. Keep looking to Him and trusting Him to lead and guide you in your life. Get the next step. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine.

In other words, you’ll find that if you’re willing to do it, God is willing to reveal it. You wanna do the will of God? God wants you to know his will greater than your desire to wanna do it. I’ve always wanted to do whatever it is God you want me to do. That’s where God wants me to be.

What the hunger, the desire. Remember when Jesus in chapter two, John, the zeal of the Lord has eaten me up. Where should you get your zeal from? The zeal of the Lord has eaten me up. It’s just like it gets ahold of you and just won’t let go. Look at the next verse. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go. I will guide thee with mine eye.” See I just take these verses from the Old Testament and I say, good enough for them.

I believe God’s the same kind of a God. And since I can’t read the newspaper and find the will of God, and I don’t find it in here where he says, you know, do this and that and the other in this state and go to Grace Conference or go to India or go to Israel, I’m free to make a lot of decisions within the will of God. And God can open many doors for you. Look at the next statement.

And I love this because it’s a song that deals with us. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delighted in his way. I learned this, I think it was at Florida Bible College, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delighted in His way. I’ve never heard that before.

You’re the only one in here that’s ever heard it before, if y’all. That’s because you’re so old. Through thy precepts, I get understanding. Therefore, I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my past. And then I always like these verses here because they really impacted my life. Okay. Power versus. You know, everyone’s in a while they come out with us new power drink. Supposed to give you nicks. Pick up and energy.

Five a hours. Nothing but caffeine. Well, there’s certain verses. I call them that they’re power versus. I want to preach this sermon a day on the power versus. But anyway, trust in the Lord with all thine heart. Lay not unto thine own understanding. Don’t always see things from a human perspective. Everyone’s in a while step back and try to see thingsolitan divine perspective. How is this going to affect my walk with God? Is this good or is this bad in my walk?

And I want to please my Heavenly Father. And all my ways acknowledge Him and He shall. That’s a promise. In all my ways, thank God. Keep thinking about what God wants. What doesinclude me to go? What does God want me to do? What does God want me to be? and he shall direct thy past. Then he says, be not wise in thine own eyes, be not wise in thine own eyes. There will be aenei song with no nah one.

Fear the Lord and depart from evil. See, ifgradient fear the Lord, you want to stay away from doing the evil things, the wrong thing, because then your heavenly Father is going to have to chasten you. And if you have any holy, high holy reverence or respect for the Lord, walk Godly. When he talks about Godly and ungodly. Godly means you like God. Ungodly you’re not like God. So if you walk, godly means That means you’re walking like God. If you’re walking ungodly, you’re not walking like God.

Tell simple it is. Always keep things simple, keep it clear. But we may have somebody watching tonight that has no clue where they’re going to spend eternity turning. Going to heaven has nothing to do with you walking with God. This was mainly to those who know the Lord, know they’re going to heaven and is for God’s children. But if you’re not a child of God, The other…

you can’t walk with God. You can’t have fellowship with God. Only through His Son Jesus Christ, and this is how it’s done. This hand represents you and me. The waller represents sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us, but He hates our sin. And for us to pay for sin is eternal separation from God. But to go to heaven, you’ve got to be perfect, and no one’s perfect. We’ve all send. And because of sin we can’t get in.

So the Bible says we cannot save ourselves. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh came into the world because He loves us. Hates our sin because it separates us from it. So Christ took all the sin, paid for it on the cross and came back from the dead and said if we would believe He did it for us, He’d put this payment to our account. We get to go to heaven on what Christ did for us.

That’s a gift. It’s free. And once you trust the Lord, He gives you the free gift of everlasting life. Let’s pray, shall we? Father, we are thankful so much for all you’ve done for us. We pray, Lord, if anyone is watching tonight, if they’ve never trusted Savior, they would do so right now. And Father, there’s a little statement on the screen, says, yes, I’ll trust the Lord. I pray that they would. Just let us know. We ask your blessings upon each one here.

We want your blessings upon us, and for the buses come and take the kids to camp. we want safety and Father for a lot of kids to go to care committed to you and ask your blessings. Friend, one day it will happen. The trumpet will sound. And we will be changed. Caught up to meet the Lord in the air. So live today and every day. Believing that the Lord is coming soon, just keep looking up.
