So Jesus Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law. If I’ve been redeemed from it, I’m free from it. Why would I wanna go back to it? You don’t do that. And so when he says there in verse 25, whom God had said forth to be a propitiation, that means he’s the payment, the satisfaction for ours. God, God was satisfied with the payment Christ made for my sins. So if he was satisfied, well then I’d be crazy not to be satisfied too.
No, I’m not satisfied with that. I can do better. You can do better than what Jesus did. And that’s what people are saying. He’s necessary, but they don’t know he is enough. Jesus is enough. Now look what we have here in verse 25 and 26. Verse 25 talks about the payment Christ made for us and in verse 26 to declare us at this time His righteousness that He might be just because He, God cannot justify me in an unjust way.
He can’t be wrong and declaring me righteous because people are going to judge God. God has to be right in whatever He does. See that’s what He’s talking about over here in verse 4 of chapter 3, see in chapter 3 and verse 4 God forbid God be true but every man a liar as it is written that thou might just be justified in thy sayings and might have overcome when thou art judged.” You see, people judge God. Is God fair?
Is God righteous? I mean, look how hard I worked. I did all these good deeds. I mean, I’ve done marvelous deeds and I’ve cast out the devil and I’ve spoken tongues and I did and you just let him go for nothing. He didn’t do anything. That’s not fair. God’s going to show you that He is just in saving a sinner. Now, so in that verse 26 that He might be just and the justifier. He’s the one that makes me as if I had never sinned.
Not me that does it. It’s God that justifies me. God is the one who declares you are justified. He can declare me righteous. Now, once that is done, once that deal is done, it is forever. Otherwise, it’s double jeopardy. I can never be hauled back in court again on sins that have already been paid and forgiven, and I’ve been declared righteous. He can never undeclar me. He can’t unjustify me because God has to be just, and that would be unjust.
would be like sin. My son never really did pay for all of your sins or make a complete payment. You had to make some payment for it and you didn’t do it. So therefore it’s null and void. He can’t do that. That’s why I can say I know I have eternal life. Know that I’m going to heaven when I die because Christ paid for all of my sins and I have been declared righteous by God Himself. Now look what He has here in verse 28.
Now look at verse 28, Romans chapter 3, therefore we conclude that a man is justified just as if he had never sinned by faith or by works. It’s always by faith. Man is not and cannot be justified by his works. No amount of works. Now let’s say for example a man walks in here and he drinks and he smokes and he cusses and he does everything in the book and he says right down here. If I pail him, if he wants to be justified and declared righteous and go to heaven, he has to be willing to give up his sins.
Have I added something to the gospel message? Because if he doesn’t do that, then God can’t do what he wants to do. If it is free, justified freely by his grace, does that sound like grace? That’s not grace. That means if he does all these things, well now how long would he have to give up his sins? If God gave him 15 years to live, does he have to turn from his sins for 15 years? If he has to turn from him, if he smokes and you got to turn from it, I’m going to let you live for 15.
That means you can’t do it now. And you can’t use any profanity for 15 years. What about envy? What about just getting angry? Well, I’m glad we don’t do any of that. No road rage here. glad that none of that has any effect on God just. But if I will buy my faith in Christ and what He did, God will declare me righteous. That’s grace. That’s mercy. That is compassion. The other way, He has to earn it. He has to deserve to be saved because of some deed that He does.
And yet this is what multitudes of preachers are preaching every Sunday morning and many I don’t believe are aware of what they’re doing. If they are aware of it shame on them. Now this is so important. Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Romans in chapter 4, chapter 4 and look in verse 25. Romans chapter 4 and verse 25, who was delivered for our our offenses, that means the things we’ve done wrong. That’s the same verse you’ll find in Colossians in chapter two and verse 14.
All those things were against us and were nailed to his cross and was raised again for our justification. In other words, if there’s no resurrection, there can be no justification. Christ coming back from the dead is our only way of knowing that the check cleared the bank. He died on the cross, made the deposit. Now we gotta see if it clears the bank. When he came back from the dead, God accepted that blood offering because it was placed upon the mercy seat.
And because of that, God can declare me righteous just as if I had never sinned, just as if I had been righteous all my life. Well, I like that. Now look in chapter five, look in verse one. Does the Bible have anything to say about being justified? It sure looks like it. Therefore in verse one, therefore being justified by faith. That’s a done deal. It’s done. Justified as past tense. We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
So we have been justified. I’ve already been justified. God has already declared me righteous. I’m good to go. When did he declare me righteous? Yesterday, or he’ll do it tomorrow. He did it 58 years ago when I was in that living room and I trusted Christ as my Savior. That day, that moment, God says that payment I made is put to his account, he’s good to go. He has declared righteous. Justify, just as if I had never committed a sin.
just as if I have always been righteous. Now that’s grace. And the thing is, when you really understand that you know that I don’t need to do anything else to secure my salvation, there is nothing else to do. When he says it is finished, then it is finished. And he sat down because the work was done. And all he wanted us to do, go into all the room, the gospel, the good news of what He did for us. So all we have to do is buy faith except Christ as our Savior and He would give us as a free gift ever lasting life.
Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Acts in chapter 10. The book of Acts in chapter 10. The Apostle Peter, because we have dealt with the Apostle Peter in the last couple lectures because of the conflict that he had with Paul in the church there in Antioch. But notice what Peter knew because he preached the sermon. And he says here that he was talking about Christ. Look what he says here. In verse 38, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, where God was with him.
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem whom they slew and hang on a tree. Him. God raised up the third day and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us who did eat and drink with Him after He rose from the dead. You know, if you went around with somebody for three and a half years and you saw that person get crucified and you know he was dead and in the grave for three days and he comes back, you know, that might make you a little on the cockey side, a little bold, have a lot of confidence.
He’s who he claimed to be. If you could kill me and I could come right back from the dead, I don’t think I’d mind if you tried to kill me. I’d come right back. But this was real. They were eyewitnesses. They saw him, over 500 brothers at one time, and they could walk with Him and talk to Him and He ate with Him and then to stand there and watch Him go up in the air without a spaceship. Just go up in the air.
No rockets, no Nassau, no Houston, I got a problem. He went right up into the sky and they saw Him disappear right on their side. Now wouldn’t that eliminate a little fear in your life? And those scared disciples that were locked in their room, scared for their life, now went out and God used them to change the world, preach the gospel everywhere because they knew it was true. And then in verse 42, and he, the one that came back from the dead, commanded us to preach unto the people and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the judge of the quick and the dead, the living and the dead, the saved and the lost.
To him give all the prophets witness that through his name, whosoever, be leavin’ in him shall receive remission of sin. To have all your sins taken away is to be justified. You will be justified if he takes away all of your sins. If he forgives you of all of your sins, he forgives you of everything we’ve ever done because Christ paid the debt. You see, God could not forgive me of one sin if Jesus hadn’t paid for it, because God would demand I have to pay for my sin.
And there is no other way unless Jesus did what he did. You know, I made a little statement that Jesus, why did he down that cross? Well, he down on that cross to pay for my sins. Why? Because he didn’t want me to do it. And he paid for my sins because he loved me so much he’d rather die than live without me. But he would rather die just to give me the chance. Think about it. He died on that cross just to give me a chance because without that there was no chance.
There was no option. It’s not like blocking shoes to go that way or another way. There is no other way. And that’s something we need to be very thankful for them. Now, I want you to take your Bible and look there in the book of Titus in chapter 3. Titus in chapter 3, or chapter 1, Titus chapter 1, and look in verse 2, verse 2. This is a memory verse that the kids had memorized in one of classes. I know they know it.
Verse 2 says, in hope of eternal life which God that cannot lie, promise before the world began. God can’t lie. I like that. And He made a promise. And we’re supposed to believe His promise. Now look what He says there in chapter 2 and verse 11 because we read this every Sunday morning. Isn’t that true? Where he says in verse 11, for the grace of God that bring of salvation hath appeared to all men. This is the grace of God that bring of salvation appeared to all men.
This grace that God has for us. And then the Bible tells us that yes, we are justified by faith. Now look in chapter chapter three and verse five. Chapter three verse five where he says, nod of words. Of righteousness which we have done. But according to his mercy, he saved us. That’s past tense. So not of works of righteousness which we have done. So nobody has ever been saved by their works. Not by works of righteousness which we have done.
But in contrast to that, he says he saved us by the washing of regeneration, a completely new birth. A new generation, a new child. new birth been born again that God has given to us. And look in verse 7. If you don’t have verse 7 on the line, you’re probably not saved. But I would least underline the first part of that verse and see what it says that being justified just as if I have never sinned by his what?
By his grace. We should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. You see, the word hope, Desmond, well, I hope I’m going to heaven, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, no. It means a joyful anticipation. I’m going to heaven because I have eternal life. Because I’ve been made righteous by His grace. And when you understand what that word means, it will help you tremendously. Now, think your Bible and turn to the book of Romans in chapter eight, Romans in chapter eight.
Romans chapter eight, now these verses here are really outstanding because it says it’s a done deal. The justification is irreversible. Once you have been justified, it’s irreversible. God can’t change it. So to start there in looking verse 30. And verse 30, more over whom he did predestinate, then he also called, and whom he called, then he also justified, and whom he justified, then he also glorified. One word is not mentioned here, and that’s sanctified, because being sanctified is something that I do after I am saved.
I can say, I have been sanctified in the sense that I’ve been made pure and holy and set apart, and I belong to the Lord, and that’s true. But for the purpose of my life, I am living my life now and I am to sanctify my life. In other words, I’m to live a sanctified life, live holy, live Godly as I should. But what I wanted you to see is here. In verse 30, when he says, those whom he did predestinate, now God has predetermined before the foundations of the world, every person who trusts Christ’s Savior will be justified, glorified, pasteurize and harmonized.
Well, maybe not all of those, but the very moment you trust Christ to save you before the foundation where God has already predetermined every believer will be called because let’s say you can’t get saved without it. You’re called by the gospel. And then he says, you are justified. You will be declared righteous, whom he has justified. Then he also glorified. That means that God already sees you in glory. If that can bog your mind down. God sees me in his son seated in the heavenly.
So if you read the book of Ephesians in chapter one in verse three, where it talks about how blessed we are that we are seated in the heavenly’s in Christ and that God have chosen us in him before the foundations of the world. God chose all of those that are in Christ. So predestination is the security of every believer. Now, foreign knowledge is an attribute of God, but predestination is an act of God. One is what God knows, one is what God does.
And so he says here in verse 31, what shall we then say to these things? If God be for us who can be against us, because he’s the one who justified me. He’s the one that declared me righteous. He’s the one that sent his son to down the cross and pay for all of my sins. So when I am declared righteous, it cannot be reversed. When I was justified, just as if I never sinned, it cannot be reversed. And that’s why he says here in verse 32, he that spared not his own son, but delivered him up for us all.
How shall he not with him also for he give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? We’re talking about all these people who know Christ is Savior. I am God’s child. I’m going to heaven whenever I die. And who’s can lay anything to my God has already declared me right. So I never sinned. So what sin are you going to convince me of that convinced me I’m going to hell? You can’t. There is no sin that I can commit to send me to hell.
I couldn’t go to hell if I try. You hear me say that sometimes. But it’s because I understand it. I really do understand this. It does make sense. And God is just, unjustifying me, but because of what Christ did for me. But He did it for everybody in the world and all they have to do it, believe it because they cannot be justified, declared righteous no other way. See the last part of that verse 33? It is God that does what?
declares me just, just as if I had never sinned, just as if I had always been righteous. God does that. That’s what grace does. The law could not do that. And so he makes a statement here in verse 35, this is irreversible. It cannot be changed. He talks about the Holy Spirit, the Son and the Father, all in these verses. And he says here in verse 35, who shall separate us from the love of Christ? The love of Christ is our salvation.
You see, that’s why he calls us the beloved in first John chapter three verse one, beloved now are we the sons of God? I am loved by God and I have let God love me by letting him save me. Some people reject the love of God by rejecting the love that is sent, which was Christ. And so he says here, who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, can I take away my salvation? Did that cause me to be unjustified?
No, distress, that won’t work. Persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, sword, none of those will work, that can’t separate me. As it is written for thy sake, you killed all the day long. We’re kind of the sheep of the slaughtering, nay, and all these things. We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. You see, his victory was put to my account. I’m going to heaven because of his victorious life. He had victory over the devil, over sin, and over the grave, and that victory, you see, was given to me.
And that’s why I’m an overcomer. I have overcome the world by my faith in Christ as first John chapter five. So, notice what he says here in verse 38, For I am persuaded that neither death, life, angels, principalities, powers, things present, things to come, height, death, any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. So, that’s irreversible. So, when you trusted Christ as your Savior, your salvation is irreversible.
Once you trust the Lord as your Savior, They’re going to heaven like it or not. But I got a hunch you probably want to go. And he’ll never cast you out and never lose you. And no man can pluck you out of his hand. That’s the greatest message in all the world. To be justified, declared righteous, as though I had never sinned, as though I have always been righteous when I’ve always been a sinner and don’t have any reason to justify myself.
I can’t justify myself, but God can justify me and declare me righteous. And I’m good to go. I was ready to go 58 years ago and I’m just as justified today as I was then. I’m just as sanctified as I was then because I’ve been set apart by the grace of God. And I know that in God’s eyes I will very soon be glorified. Means I will enter into His glory. have sinned and come short of the glory of God or short of God’s perfection.
But one day I’m going to be where I’d be totally perfect. And that might not be too far away. Praise the Lord. I like down there at the letter D where I have the word justification satisfies God’s holiness. It means I am holy. It satisfies God’s justice because I am justified. I paid for my debt. Justification satisfies God’s love because he was able to offer salvation to everyone because God is not willing to any should perish and so he was able to by the death of Christ offer salvation as a a free gift to everybody in the whole world.
But some people will not believe it. I’m so thankful for that man, my father-in-law, who took the time and explained that this smart addict knew it all, rebay his 18-year-old teenager. And I was smart enough to trust Christ as my savior. I didn’t have a clue sometimes of what I’m doing, but that was the smartest decision I’ve ever made. Ah, it’s out of Mary Betty. Look up here. This is you and me. This is sin. We all have sin on us.
The whole world is guilty. And the whole world… Has a debt to pay and that’s eternal separation from God in a fire burning hell, but God loves us wants us to go to heaven and they go to heaven. You have to be perfect just as if you’ve never sinned. Just as if you’ve always been righteous. But we all fail. So God, yes, he gave the law, but the law was so that we could see we cannot save ourselves by our work for if there had been any law given that could have given life fairly righteousness should have been by the law.
But there wasn’t one. The sin represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh. Came into the world because he loves us, hates our sin, because our sin separates us from him. So Jesus Christ who had no sin didn’t have to die but because he loved us, he took how many of our sins? All of our sins for the whole human race made one payment, one payment. By one offering, he can perfect all of us who believe. God says this one payment that he made, He came back again from the dead and said that if we would believe this, as it says in the book of Acts in chapter 10 verse 43, all the prophets gave witness to this fact that whosoever believeth shall receive remissioners and say, I am forgiven of everything I have ever done.
Even the future, all forgiven, past, present, future, it’s all done. The penalty of sin I’ll never have to answer for. Now as a child of God, yes, we still do things and there’s consequences to our sins, but it’s not the penalty. It’s not death and hell. It’s not eternal separation because nothing can ever separate me from the love of God. I’m His child and justification is irreversible. So that’s why Paul is laying the foundation. We have been justified by faith, not by the works of the law because if if you’re justified by the works of the law, at what point are you justified?
What day, what moment? Are you, ah, I’m justified? No, because you’re gonna sin again, and you gotta get justified, didn’t you? Where’s it end? That’s a can of worms, that’s not the Bible. Let’s pray, shall we? With every head bound, every eye closed, and no one looking around. I hope these things really burn into your mind, and you see it and understand it. because they’re the keys that unlock the rest of scripture. And I hope that you understand that, appreciate it.
If you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, I would hate to think that you have listened to me a thousand times and never really trust the Lord. But if you haven’t, would you trust Him right now? Say, Lord, I know I’m a sinner. I believe Christ died, that He paid for my sins. And I’m gonna trust Him right now as my only hope of going to heaven. I pray that you’ll do so if you haven’t done it. If you’re watching by internet, Why not right now in the credits in the moment?
Right where you are. Say Lord, I believe you, Dad, I’m not crossed. I believe you paid for my sins. And right now I’m on a trust you with my only hope of going to heaven. And if you’ll believe it right now, God will justify you right now. He will declare you righteous and you’re good to go. And your justification can never be reversed. Father, we thank you so much for all you’ve done for us. Thank you for this time together.
