Look at the next statement. Let her see. The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. How does the Holy Spirit bear witness with my spirit that I’m a child of God? By the word of God. I wrote that down there for you. So when you read and study the Bible, how do I know I’m a child of God? Well, I can feel it. No. Because his spirit bears witness with my spirit and he bears witness with my spirit through the word of God.

See, the Bible was written by the Holy Spirit, holy men of God, as they were moved or guided along by the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible. So when we study the Bible, the author of the Bible lives within us and teaches us, yes, I am a child of God. How do I know? Because the word says so. And that bears witness with my spirit. I believe the Bible is true. I am a child of God.

God is my Father. And I’m going to heaven whenever I die and it can never be changed. I am an heir of God and join heirs with Christ. Like Jesus now becomes my elder brother because he’s the son of God and so am I and so are you. And everyone who trusts Christ to save you, we often refer to him as brother Rick or sister Lou and sister trainer and blah blah blah. My daughter is my sister. Now we don’t refer to that you know all the time but there’s nothing wrong with it if the person has trusted Christ as Savior.

Now I’ve had some people call me brother Arnold. I don’t know if you’re my brother or not. Because you see all we can see is that flesh birth. And some people, God’s children live in the flesh, the first birth. And some Christians can walk in their new birth and obey the Lord and some people will not obey the Lord. And so, see, that’s a terrible way for a Christian to live. What a terrible testimony. So you’ve got to straighten that up and God addresses that.

Let me show you. Look down number three. Number three, as children of God in this world, we are to please our heavenly Father. Now God could have just taken us all to heaven when we trusted the Lord. Of course there would be nobody left. There wouldn’t be anybody. But God left us here and we are ambassadors for Christ. See when you trusted Christ you were born of God. Your citizenship is in heaven. God left you here. He says we’re strangers and pilgrims.

Strange means we’re away from home and pilgrim means we’re going home. But some people are strange and some people are a pill. Now you’re supposed to, while we’re in this world, seek to please our heavenly Father. So there is a conflict of the wills. Looking at number three, where to please our heavenly Father. But here at letter A, thou art worthy, O Lord to receive glory and honor and power, for thou hath created all things. He has created all things.

And for thy pleasure they are and were created. Who created you? God, why? For His pleasure. It pleased God to create you. But God also it pleased to send His Son to the cross to die and to pay for your sins. It pleases God to do that. And it pleases God to offer you eternal life. It pleases God to save you by faith alone. Otherwise you couldn’t have it. Because you’ll never be able to earn it. It pleases God to have you want to come into his family as his child.

Now some people, that pleases them. Another people could care less. I’m so thankful for that man who explained this to me. On the earth he was my spiritual father because he explained the gospel to me. And that was Mr. Raymond Jackson. Look down at letter B. By faith, Enoch was translated that he should not be able to be. not see death and was not found because God had translated him for before his translation, beam me up Scotty, he had this testimony and you ought to underline that part that he pleased God.

So it is possible for God’s children to please their heavenly Father. So here’s the problem. A lot of God’s children want to live and please themselves because they’re walking in the flesh. If over here this is the flesh and over here this is the Spirit. This is your first birth and this is your second birth. All right? That don’t get mad at me. It’s just an illustration. But see this is the flesh and you can choose a walk in the flesh or you can choose to walk in the Spirit.

You can choose to be disobedient or obedient. It’s your choice but there’s consequences to your decision. You can live your whole life trying to make you happy and be pleased in what you’re doing and you want Everything to go your way what you can do that and go your own way Remember that little thing when all we like sheep have gone astray Now that’s the flesh So the flesh has three problems the lust of the eyes the lust of the flesh and the pride of life And those are the same things that got Adam and Eve, and that’s the same thing the devil offered Jesus when Matthew chapter four, when he was taken up into the mountains to be tempted of the devil, that’s what he does.

So there’s the flesh, and then it’s also, there’s the spirit. So you’ve got the flesh and the spirit, and there’s this war that goes on. But understand this, look at letter C. But without faith, it is impossible to please him. So if the goal of your life is to please your heavenly Father, isn’t it true that parents would love for their children to please them and to love them, to obey them? All of us, as parents, you know what I want, I want the most rebellious kids you could ever have.

You know why you said that? Because that’s what you got, probably. You don’t want that. You want kids to love you and to be pleased please and just think you’re the most wonderful things in the world and you want to be proud of them and you want them to be proud of you. You’re Heavenly Father. What do you think He wants? He wants you to be pleased with what He pleases to give to you. And so in the course of your life, God’s going to have a lot of things come your way, trials and problems and testings and all these thing and God wants to see do you love Him more than anything this world could offer you the 11 more?

Well you could say yes I do but you don’t know that until you get tried and so the devil will come along and say yay look over here and look over here and you’d be surprised how he can lure you away and God only wants you just love him more than the things of the world. And so you’re going to be tried. So look at this. If it’s impossible to please him without faith, well, where do you get faith at?

Walmart, you’re going to your doctor and get a prescription go down there and get some faith. What do we need? It’s all you had to do. Faith commit by what? And hearing by the by the Word of God. So if it’s impossible to please God without faith, and the only way you can get faith is by the Word of God. And if you don’t hear the Word of God, you’re not going to be able to please God. You may want to, you may desire it, but you’re not going to.

Because God has put in His Word, and the Word of God is the will of God on paper. So as you study the Word of God and you believe it, your faith come with by hearing what God said. And then you believe it and you act upon it. And because of that, you’re pleasing your heavenly Father. You cannot use your own reasoning power. You can’t use your logic. You have to go about what did the book say. And if you don’t study the Bible, you’re not going to know, you’re not going to understand and you’re not going to have the results that you want and your peace of mind is whenever you go to bed at night, I please the Lord today.

I live my life the way God wanted me to. And when you do something wrong when you fail, then you confess that to the Lord, and he forgives, he keep moving on. But never let any sin of any kind stop you from serving God, because nobody’s perfect. Even after you trust Christ as Savior, you still have an old sinful nature. You can still walk into flesh. But you know how fast you can correct that problem? Just like that. You can correct the problem.

Now look what we have here at number four. With many of God’s people, he was not well pleased. What he did for one child of God, he did the same for all. All saved from hell, all saved to heaven, all indw up by the Holy Spirit, all loved equally, and all become a child of God. And he become the Father of all the same. Wouldn’t it be understandable? The thing, well, if God did the same for everybody, If then everybody ought to respond the same way.

Everybody ought to love the Lord. If you’re a child of God, shouldn’t you want to please your heavenly Father? But some of God’s children don’t want to please God. They want to please Himself. So they live their whole life trying to figure out what makes me happy. What do I want? It’s my life. No, it’s not your life. It belongs to God. He bought and paid for it. Your body belongs to the Lord. It’s not yours to do whatever you want to do.

It belongs to the Lord. Now, these are some scriptures, but I just highlighted the word all in it because I want you to see this later on you need to get that script right and read that scripture here in the book of Corinthians 1 Corinthians chapter 10. Look at letter A, more over brethren so we’re talking to believers. I would not that you should be ignorant and the reason because there’s so many ignorant brethren. He said how that all our fathers were under the cloud and he’s talking about whenever God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt and crossed the Red Sea and so forth and then to the wilderness.

Hey all our fathers was on the cloud. All passed through the sea in verse, let it be, all baptized in the Moses in the cloud and then the sea and did all eat the883 same spiritual drink, for they drank of that spiritual rock that followed them and that rock was Christ. And then he makes this statement in verse 5, but with many of them, God was not well pleased. Why wasn’t He pleased? Well, because they messed up. Here they are.

They could have all gone into the land, the promised land, but they believed a bad report from 10 people instead of believing what God says. You can take this land. Joshua and Caleb believed they could do it. 40 years later they went in. The other 10 died. And all those other ones that came out of Egypt, well because they wanted to go ripe and complain and moan and groan, there’s a price to pay. And so they They did things wrong in rebellion.

So God now in the book of Corinthian is warning these carnal Christians don’t do what they did or look what he says. Number five, God’s children are warned against wasting their lives in the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Now these things were our examples. The people sit down to eat and drink and rose up to play.

In other words, they made golden calves. They worshiped idols. Now the Bible tells us in the book of 1 John in chapter five, in the last verse, it says, my little children, he says, Jesus is the true God and eternal life. Do not worship idols. That means anything other than Christ. In other words, what does your life mean to you? What is it wrapped around? What would you say right now is the purpose of your life? What’s the goal in your life?

What do you want to accomplish? What are you living for? Is it for the things of the world? Is it for the house and the car and the money and the banging? Is that your goal? You can have all kinds of things. There’s rich people in the Bible, but nothing is to take the place of your heavenly Father, loving Him. More than in the world. doms do you want God’s will for your life? You cannot know the will of God unless you know the word of God.

That’s why it’s important to study the wordebook of God. Look at the next statement. Let her see. Let us commit for an occasion, that’s sex outside of marriage, as some of them committed and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Twenty three thousand people because they played Hanky-Panky. They didn’t wait until they were married. There’s a price to pay. Now these are warnings in the word of God. Now that’s because they love something more than just loving God and doing what God says.

Look at the next statement. Neither in verse, letter D, let us tempt Christ as some of them also tempt it and were destroyed. In other words, they didn’t all die the same way because he told him, he says, you’re not going to go into the Promised Land. So over the next 40 years, some died of this and some died of this. Some died of this. Some died of this. of this, some got of that, but not all the same thing.

And in the eyes of anybody else, if they were just watching, it’s just like a normal death and there’s nothing to it. You know, it’s just, well, you know, the way it goes, you know, an accident, blah, blah, blah, whatever. Did you realize there’s a God in heaven that can determine whether or not you live or die? Did you know that here’s these 12 guys that went into the Promised Land and Joshua and Caleb, they believe what God said 40 years later, those two gods are still alive.

The other 10 are dead. And all these other ones that were over a certain age, they all died in New Wilderness because they believe what those 10 said. And they died and they didn’t get to go into the land. God had raised up a whole new generation. So you didn’t have to be that away. It’s the way it was because of God, His people can make choices. You can choose to be wise or unwise. If you choose to, I want to live to please the Lord.

Don’t you think that pleases God? And God can intervene in your life and you’d be surprised how He can be so much upon you and so many opportunities and so many more open doors. How God can bless you. But if you have the heart of, I just want to live my life for myself and whatever I want. It’s all about me. Did you know God can intervene in your life? And God can shut out your lights and you can live a miserable existence.

And sometimes God may even just take you, just put you on the shelf and let you alone. And you can live your life as though God doesn’t even exist. God isn’t real to me. I don’t need to go to church. I don’t need to, I don’t have any hunger, no desire. And your whole conscience is seared like with a hot iron and there’s no sensitivity. There’s no feeling there and you can totally lose all your love that you ever had for the Lord.

Why do you think in the book of Revelation in chapter 2 when he writes to the church area of Ephesus, he says you’ve left your first love. He says you’re still going to church, you’re doing all the things you’re supposed to be doing, but you don’t let me like you’re used to. Now who would know that but God? God knows whether or not in your heart, whether you do or you do not love Him. Whether or not you really want to please God or just use God to get what you want in life.

And God knows. This is why it’s so important. Look there now at the letter D. Neither let us tempt Christ as some of them also tempt and were destroyed by serpents. And let us see. E. Neither murmuring ye as some of them also murmured and were destroyed of the destroyer. Are you a complainer? As you live your life, you’ve got to find out Are you a whiner? Constant complainer. Always down in the mouth. Thank you Jonah, he came out all right.

Yeah, I think once in a while you might find something good in a trash can, but who wants to live there? I don’t wanna live in a trash can. I think God’s got so much more for me and for you. Look down at number six. God’s children are rewarded for pleasing their heavenly Father. Can’t you believe that? Can’t you believe that if, I don’t give you what you sacrifice in this world, for the Lord, you can’t lose because you can’t out give God, you can’t out service God.

God’s gonna give you more than you ever have given up in any way, shape or form. He says, if you will lose your life for my sake, you’ll find it. But if you don’t, you’re gonna lose your life. In other words, you lost the purpose of why I left you here. Now, if I got a five dollar pen and it won’t write, But I got a mission, I got to get it done, and all I got is a three cent pencil.

If you had a five dollar pen that doesn’t write, you got a three cent pencil that will, which one would you use? You’d use a three cent pencil. I believe over the years there’s been a lot of five dollar pens, had a lot more talent and abilities than I’ve ever had. But I’m a three cent pencil. And I says, Lord, I’ll always be here. You can use me any time, anyway, whenever you’re ready. And I’ll try to keep myself where you can use me.

I’ll try not to get entangled with affairs of this life so that I can, I want to be available. And you can do whatever you want with me. You can take me home if you want to. I don’t care. You can leave me here, I don’t care. You can do anything that you want. And you can put me over here, you can put me here, put me there, I’ll just be a three cent pencil. There’s a lot of five-dollar pens who think they are so much more intelligent.

They would not humble themselves to be used by God. They’re going to do their own thing, filled with pride. God won’t use them. God loves them. See, once you’re his child, you have an everlasting love. You are an heir of God and join heirs with Christ. So much you’re going to have when you get to heaven. But you’re not there yet. You’re still here. And so down here at the bottom I wrote letter A, every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.

You don’t have to serve God at all. You don’t have to please him. You can waste your time. You don’t have to. your whole life, but you’re still his child and you go to heaven when you die because of what he did for you. See, serve in the Lord is because of what I want to do for him. I want God to know I love God. I love God. And I’ve never seen God except to the pages of this book.

But I believe it. The next verse, we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that everyone may receive the things done in his body. According to that he have done whether it be good or bad. everything since you trusted Christ as your Savior and God says we must all appear before the judgment center of Christ. It’s a rewarding stand. God is going to reward you for what you did for Him and He’s going to separate all the things that were not good and all the things that were the goal show of the pressure and He’s going to reward every individual.

So do what you want. The preacher can’t make you but the preacher can’t stop you either. You see that’s a choice that you get to make as a child of God. Do you or do you not want to please your Heavenly Father? If you want to please your Father, then you need to learn the Word. Look at the last one, letter C. For the love of Christ constraines us because we does judge that if one died for all then all were dead and that they which live for him should not henceforth live unto themselves but unto him who died for them and rose again.

The love of Christ should motivate us. Look at the statement I wrote at the bottom. It’s all in black so that you’ll know this might mean a little bit more. I want to drive it home. God’s disobedient children are the results of their displeasure with their heavenly Father. See if you’re totally pleased with God and everything that happens in your life you know they had to cross his desk with his approval because if I’m his child and God is leading and directing my life and God knows everything that’s gonna happen And whatever it is, if God loves me and all things work together for good to those who love the Lord, to those who are called according to His partners, then I know God knew this, God knew this, God knew this, why should I get mad at God about anything?

The Lord giveth, praise the Lord, and the Lord take it the way, praise the Lord. So it doesn’t matter. Do you realize what that’ll do for your attitude? It’ll take and lift your countenance a little bit. bit. You’re gonna put a spring in your step, song in your heart, joy on your face. I mean, it makes a difference how you live because you want to please God and sitting around, driving and grumbling and moaning and complaining like you’ve been baptized in lemon juice.

It does not please God. Look at that last part. When you are not satisfied with God’s will, you will seek pleasure another way. For home the Lord loveth, He chasteeth and scourges every son whom He receiveth. Do you want his scourging? You want his blessings. You want God to chasten you or do you want your heavenly Father to bless you. You want to stay here as long as you can, say as healthy as you can so you can accomplish as much as you can because you know this side of eternity the only time that we have to show God that we love Him.

Depleased God. When we all get to heaven, everybody’s gonna please God because it’s only the new birth that’s gonna be there. Now is the opportunity. When the world is here and the lustre here and the pride of life, all those things that pull against us, the devil is here and I get a chance. In this big old wide world to show God, I love Him more than I love this world. What an opportunity. What a challenge. And we ought to be so pleased that God loves us so much.

He said, and I’ll never leave you and I’ll never forsake you. And the Holy Spirit’s going to be indwelling you. And if you study my word, I’ll walk you through it. I’ll walk you through it. Look up here. This hand represents you and me. The wallet represents everything we’ve ever done wrong. And I remember about five years ago I did something wrong. No, we’ve all done things wrong every day of our lives, but God loves us. Now he hates our sin, but he loves us.

And for you and I to pay for our sins is eternal separation from God in hell. But God loves us, wants us to Go to heaven. And to go to heaven, we have to be perfect, and none of us are perfect. That’s why we need a new birth. So God says, you can’t save yourself. You can’t not make yourself perfect. You can try all you want. From this day forward, I’m not going to do anything else wrong. Oh boy, how’s that going to go?

This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh. He came into the world because He loves us. He hates our sin because our sin separates us from Him. So you see, it separates me from each other and from the Lord, but also it separates me from heaven. I can’t go there. I can’t be with God in heaven. So Jesus Christ who had no sin didn’t have to die. So He took all of our sins. Mine, yours, neverbody.

Took it, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead and said, if I would believe He did it for me, He would put this payment to my count, and I’d go to heaven on what Jesus Christ did for me. That’s a gift. That’s free. If offered you my pen and you accepted, what would you have? Baby grand piano. No. If offered you my Bible and you accepted, you’d have a Bible. If offered you my wallet and you accepted, you’d have…

No, I got a couple dollars in there. My wife gave me my allowance this month. And Christ walked in here right now and offered you eternal life and you accepted, what would you have? Eternal life. If it’s eternal life, how long would it last forever? If it lasts forever and all your sins are paid, where would you go and you die? So can you know you’re going to heaven before you die? Yes. I’m glad I don’t have to wait till I die to find out where I’m going.

What if I’m going to the wrong place? And I didn’t know it. But I know I have eternal because my heavenly Father bears witness with my spirit. I trust in Christ as my Savior. He’s obligated to save me. Whosoever believeth, hath everlasting life? Will I believe it? I have everlasting life. Well, how do you know the Bible said so? God said so. And if God says I’m saved, guess what? I am. If God says I’m his child, I am.

He says, I have eternal life, I do. And I hope that you have also. Let’s pray, shall we? With the headbound nice clothes, and no one looking around, I’m not gonna have you stand up or come forward. I’m not here to embarrass anyone. So I do it with headbound nice clothes. And if you’re watching my internet, this goes for you also. In the quietness of this moment, just between you and the Lord, talk to the Lord and say something simple like this, Lord, I know I’m a sinner, friend we all are.

But I believe Christ died and that He paid for my sins and came back from the dead. And I’m gonna trust Him right now as my Savior. And friend, God said, if you trust Him, He’d save you, give you eternal life. And you can know that when you get up, you can say, I know I’m going to have Him because today I trust that Christ, He paid for all my sins. And friend, if you’re making that decision, I’d like to know, I’d like to have prayer for you.

So I’m gonna ask you if you’ll just raise your hand very quickly, put it right back down. And it just means just pray for me, I will trust the Lord. If you’re doing that, never done it before, would you just slip it up very quickly? Anyone else? Anyone at all? If you’re watching my internet right on the screen, and says, yes, I’ll trust Christ, this might save you. I pray that you will. Just let us know. Father, we thank you again for your blessings.

Thank you for all you do for us. And Father, we pray that as we think about these things, we want you to be pleased with us. But we also wanna let you know, Lord, we’re pleased with you.
