I wanna give you a little overview of a book called revelation. So I want you to take your Bible and turn with me to the book of Revelation, the book of Revelation and chapter 12. Revelation chapter 12. Revelation gives us a little bit of an overview also of the overview, an overview of the overview of the book of Revelation and the book really of all time. Now when we look up here on the chart we’ll notice that the verse we’re fixing to read is really talking about this period of time right here in the middle of the tribulation period.
So where are we? Well we’re we over here. We’re right before this great event called the rapture where we’re going to be caught out to meet the Lord in the air. So when we look at this and you’ll Notice in verse 3, the Bible talks about here and there appeared another wonder in heaven, behold a great red dragon which is the devil, Satan, having seven head, ten horns, those are different governments and different kings, and seven crowns upon his heads, and his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven.
So we believe it when Satan was cast out of heaven, about a third of the angels went with him, and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered delivered for to devour her child as soon as it was born. The woman, we believe, is the nation of Israel. You see, there’s God, the creator of heaven and earth, and he took the children of Israel and brought them out of Egypt and took them to Mount Sinai, and well, he proposed and he gave the law and she says, all that you have commanded, we will do.
So the Bible talks about like there’s God, the Father, and there’s the nation of Israel and they got married. So Israel is, many times referred to as the wife of Jehovah. Well, God said they’re gonna have a son. So here’s God and Israel and they’re gonna have a child. As time goes on, there’s many descriptions of this child. And it’s gonna be the son of God. So Jesus was born. And when Jesus was born, well, the mother, Israel, rejected her son.
And of course the devil was ready to devour this son as soon as it was born. That’s why the devil did everything in his power to try to kill the children that were under two years of age. He was stabbing at one baby, trying to kill this one child. Well, the Lord told Joseph to take the child down into Egypt and later on, of course, the scripture and prophecy says that I have called my son out of Egypt, and he did come out of Egypt.
So here’s a God and there’s a wife and they had a child and the mother rejected the child. He came into the world and you’ll notice now something else. And verse 5, and she brought forth a man child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron and her child was caught up unto God and to his throne. The woman fled into the wilderness where she had to play prepared of God that they should feeder there are 1,203 score days as 3 and a half years.
In verse 13, when the dragon saw that he was cast into the earth, he persecuted the woman, which is Israel, which brought forth a man child. And the woman was given two wings of a great eagle and she was taken into the wilderness into her place where she has nursed for a time, times and a half a time. A time, one year, times two years and a half a time, that’s three and a half years. So this is where this takes place.
This is why the seven year tribulation, the last half is the great tribulation. So God told him what is going to happen. Kind of rehearsing, go back to what has taken place and what is going to take place in the future. So we talk about Christmas time and the story of Jesus. It’s more than him just being born in Bethlehem. Oh, that’s not the end of it, because unless you know who he is and why he came and how he died and come back from the dead, there’s no purpose in his birth.
He was born to die. And so God has given us this wonderful story, so we can kind of put some pieces together. Now, I want you to take your Bible and turn it over to Revelation chapter 1, Revelation and chapter 1. And you’ll notice there in verse 4, Revelation chapter 1 and verse 4. Now you’re going to take the book of Revelation, go all the way back to the time of Pentecost. You’ll see that’s the way back here after the resurrection of Christ, Pentecost, 50 days from the resurrection of Christ.
something happened on that day. The church, the body of Christ was born. So in Revelation we’re gonna have three main divisions I would say, where we talk about the Trinity. You know the Holy Spirit and the Son and the Father. So there’s going to be the first part about the book of Revelation. We’ll talk about the the work of the Holy Spirit in the book of Revelation because it reveals about Jesus’ Christ. It is the revealing, not concealing Christ who is God in the flesh and he’s going to be revealed.
Now what we have is we came the first time he was rejected and people didn’t know who he was. So for the last 2,000 years in the book of Revelation it goes back there to when he died and we’ll go all the way through. And the book of Revelation is laid out in order. And when you understand and you see that, it’s a little bit easier to follow. So here in the book of Revelation chapter 1 and verse 4, John to the seven churches.
Now there’d be some people say, now the book of Revelation was never written to the church. Oh, blessed be God. What does that verse say? It is to the church, What he says to the seven churches which are in Asia. Well, the book of Revelation wasn’t written from the church. Yes it was. Don’t fall for this hyper dispensationalism. They don’t know what they’re talking about. But anyway, we’re moving right along. Being unto you and peace from him, which is and which was and which is to come and from the seven spirits which are before his throne.
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood.” Now look up here. So the book of Revelation is going back to when Christ paid the price for our sins in his own blood. Means he gave up his life so that we could have eternal life. So he paid for our sins and he goes all the way back to that point where he is the first begotten of the dead.
So Christ comes back from the dead. Now look in verse 7. Behold, He cometh with cloud, and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him, and all kindred of the ear shall well because of Him, and then He goes all the way over to when Christ comes back in power and great glory, and every eye will see Him. So in just opening, we go from one point all the way to another point, And there’s a reason for it.
Because he says, there’s going to be some things that’s going to happen. Is there a penalty? Is there going to be punishment about those who reject Jesus Christ? Is there a Savior? It is God gonna pull out his judgment, and Jesus made the statement, all judgment the Father hath committed to the Son. So we’re gonna see that in just a moment. But I want you to look there now in the book of Revelation chapter 2, talking about the church at Ephesus.
And notice now in chapter two, in chapter three, it talks about the church. And verse one, onto the angel of the church that f- right. Then in verse 8 and onto the angel of the church, and Smyrna right. In verse 12 and unto the angel of the church in Pergamot, these angels are pastors who have gone to the aisle to meet with John who was in the Alabama because of his exile. And they were given messages to take back to their churches.
So it was to the pastors to go back to their churches and preach these messages and warn them if it needed warning and to correct whatever problems that needed to be corrected. But you’ll notice something at the end of each one of these churches, it makes a statement like this, look in verse 7. He the Hatha near led him here with the Spirit sent unto the churches. You look there in verse 11, he that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit said unto the churches.
Verse 29, he that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit said unto the church and all the way through let them hear. So this is during the church age. This is the spirit age. This is the body age. This is the age in which we live. You see whenever we trust Christ is our Savior the Holy Spirit of God indwells every believer and every believer that is the baptism of the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ that’s why it is called the body.
We are the body of Christ and the head of the body is in heaven. So we have the book of Ephesians that will talk about the body but the book of the Colossians will talk about the head and we are complete in him. So but that’s during the church age. This is is the work of the Holy Spirit. So in the book of Revelation, it does talk about the Spirit, the Holy Spirit. Now, take your Bible and turn to the book of Revelation chapter four.
Revelation chapter four and look in verse one. After this, the church age, I looked and behold, a door was opened in heaven. First voice, which I heard was at the trumpet, talking with me, which said, come up hither, and I will show the things which must be here after. So here’s John, who was in the spirit on the Lord’s day, was caught up into heaven. And we believe that is a type of the rapture where the church is caught up into the third heaven.
And we don’t hear another word about the church age during the tribulation period. is you won’t find anything else about it until we come back in chapter 19 and then it’ll talk a little bit more about it but that’s at the end of the tribulation period. So now in Revelation we have the opening of the seals of a book. Now in the book of Daniel it says seal up the book until the time of the end but then who’s gonna open up this book and we know it’s our understanding that we can have of of the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation, because both books perfectly dovetail.
And so we need both books to understand this thing of prophecy. See, there’s little streams like they come down out of the mountains, you know, arranged on the mountain and the little streams. Well, all these streams will come together in the book of Revelation into a one gigantic rushing mighty river. Prophecy being fulfilled and it picks up speed. It gets a lot deeper, but they come together. There’s prophecies that seem like they had no continuity, no connection, all of a sudden they all begin to have purpose and you see the meaning of it.
And God is going to fulfill His will just like He promised that He would. Now in chapter five, if you’ll notice there in verse five, it says, and one of the elders said unto me, weep not, behold the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David had prevailed to open the book and to lose the seven seals thereof. Now who in the world would that be? All right, now we’re gonna talk about the sun. Now here we talked about the spirit.
Now we’re gonna talk about the sun and the sun is the one who’s gonna open up these seven seals and that’s gonna tell us what’s gonna be in the book. And then when we get to actually the book being fulfilled, then you’ll find that is talking about the rat of the lamb. So take your Bible and look there in chapter 6. Chapter 6, and I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals. This is in verse 1, chapter 6.
Then it happens in chapter 6 and verse 2 and 4 and that in verse 7. And so this is during this period of time. This is during the first part of the tribulation period. See, it’s laid out in such a way that if you put it where it belongs, It’s not that difficult. Now it doesn’t put all the pieces together. That kind of few pieces of the puzzle that kind of clash a little bit. We won’t talk about those today.
We’re just gonna talk about the ones that do fit that I believe. And so in verse nine, it’s talking about the people that are gonna be killed during this period of time and says, how long, oh Lord, holy and true, just thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? So that means that there’s people that are in heaven who have been killed here and multitudes and multitudes of people will die. Now, many will trust Christ as their Savior.
When you read chapter 7 of Revelation and chapter 14 of Revelation, and when it talks about where did they come from? He says it came out of a tribulation period of time. Now, notice this. When he gets into verse 12, he talks about some of the things that are going to take place. Now it’s like looking at the table of contents. You’ve opened up all seven seals and there’s a table of content. This is what’s going to happen. Not necessarily that it all happened yet, but this is what’s going to happen and when it’s going to happen, but it ain’t happened yet.
Because see, there’s going to be like seven messengers or angels and each one of these angels are going to have trumpets and they’re going to have trumpets and then when they sound then they will have the seven vials or bowls of judgment to pour out upon the earth. So you’ll find out many of the angels or the seven angels had the same trumpets that had the same bowls of judgment to pour out. So there is decency and in order of how God lays out the things that are going to happen into the future.
Now look what he says here in verse 12, I beheld and when he had opened the There was a great earthquake. The sun became black asack cloth of hair and moon became blood as blood. Stars fell from heaven and all these things. The earth and so forth is going to reel back and forth like a drunk man in his axis. And then he talks about in verse 13, the stars and all these things are going to happen. The heavens departed to scroll and all the mountains and all the islands are moved out of their places.
What in the world kind of a judgment is going to happen where every mountain and every island on the face of this earth is going to be shaken and moved. The Bible describes the earth as a drunk man that’s going to wobble back and forth. And when it’s axis, you’re talking about shaking up this world. It’s just right ahead of us. It’s coming. And the Bible describes nuclear war. When it talks about in the book of Zachariah in chapter 14 and verse 12 when it says, and I saw the plague that came upon the people.
And it says in this judgment that God had poured out upon them and while they stand upon their feet, their flesh shall consume away off their bones and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets in their mouth of the tongue of a rotten their mouth. All that’s a sign of a nuclear war. When it talks about every green grass and all the green trees and everything being burnt at one time, what kind of a war is it going to be?
Bose and arrows? I think God has described what’s going to be thought about a fervent heat and the elements breaking apart. But anyway, we’ll move right along and you’ll notice that that they try to hide themselves and wish for death and cannot die. It’ll be so bad. Look at it in verse 16, and said to the mountains and rocks fall on us and hide us from the face of Him that siteth on the throne from the wrath of the Lamb.
So do you think that people’s rejection of Him is gonna make Him a little upset? After all that He’s done? You see, people are gonna spend an eternity separated from God in a literal fire burning hell And God is going to be very mad, very upset, and is the wrath of God. When you read in the book of 2 Thessalonians and talks about in chapter 1, it says, when the Lord comes back and he’s going to bring punishment upon those who obeyed not the God for did not believe the gospel.
And they’re going to be punished with everlasting punishment. It’s not a joke. You can’t make people believe anything. But me people don’t see the urgency because life is short and people are dying. And when they die, all opportunity is gone. It’s all off the table. You can trust Christ to save your now, but you can’t do it later. If you’re ever going to try to win your loved ones to the Lord, you better get on stick. Don’t expect somebody else to do it.
They may not be anybody else to do it. You may be the only one that will ever reach some people. Remember that. See there in verse 17? For the great day of his wrath is come and who shall be able to stand. So the great day of his wrath, we’re talking about mainly from the middle of the tribulation period to the end of the tribulation period. So this is a period of time that is coming up on the earth.
Now take your Bible and turn to the book of Revelation chapter 11. chapter 11 and verse 1 it talks about a temple being built, a temple that is going to be given over to the Gentiles. So that means that the temple has to be built and the temple is going to be built. There has to be a peace tree you made with Israel, giving them the right to the land, to exist as a people and to rebuild their temple.
This hasn’t happened yet. This is why some Christians get all excited when they decided to move the embassy to Jerusalem because we believe that’s going to be the central point of where the temple has to be built on Mount Moriah and so it has to go in that direction and so something got to happen to make these nations want to have peace. Something is going to drive them together for this purpose. So in verse 1 and there was given to me a read, like unto a rod and the angel stood saying, rise, measure the temple of God and the altar and then that worship they’re in.
But the court which is without the temple leave out and measure it not for it is given unto the Gentiles and the holy city shall they tread unto foot forty and two months. Forty and two months is how long? Three and a half years. This is three and a half years. This is going to be the poor not of God’s wrath upon the earth. He prophesied this is what was going to take place. You’ll find it mentioned in the book of Isaiah and Hosea and other places.
And it is the time of Jacob’s sorrows, the troubles of Israel. Because remember, even though Israel has been scattered for the last 2000 years, they had made the statement, let his blood be upon us and our children. And buddy, it has. And so the Jewish people have been hated for the last 2000 years. But God says they’ll come back to the land they have, because how they gonna build a temple? How can you make a peace tree with people that don’t exist?
But they are back in the land and they are a nation, and we are living some very interesting and exciting times. But that day is coming. And so there’s these 42 months of three and a half years that’s going to be given over. See, the first three and a half years, Israel is promised peace and safety and so forth. And they’ll believe this lie. And people will believe the lie. So when you get to 2 Thessalonians in chapter 2, there is the consequence because he says, this day cannot come until first of all, there is a departure and the man of sin is revealed.
He’s revealed here in the middle, not at the end, in the middle. He can’t do this until this happens. So everything is laid out perfectly. Now, since we’ve got that far, understand this. There’s also going to have to be in chapter 13, if you look at the Requay. Chapter 13, there are two beasts that comes up. One comes up out of the sea of humanity, and there is a beast that is a political head. We often think about a one-world religion and a one-world government.
Well, this will be the one world government where all the nations get together. They want a one world government, a global government, because if everybody worked together and we only had a one government, who would you fight with? See, there doesn’t make sense. It will make so much sense. And therefore, you don’t have to have all these little nations. Why? Because you don’t need borders. Now, you haven’t heard anything about that. But see, if everything’s a one government, you don’t need borders.
How’s it working over there in Europe? Not doing so good. And Trump is right when he says that, well, that borders you don’t have a country. Anyway, when you get right down to it, don’t they have security guards around the White House? I wonder why. I wonder why there was a wall around Jerusalem. The Bible also talks about the wall of Jericho. What did they use these walls for? For protection. There’s nothing wrong with having walls. But anyway, there’s another sermon in there somewhere, but we won’t go there right now.
So I want you to look there in these verses that talks so simple about what’s going to take place next. See now here in the 12th chapter where we began You’ll notice in verse 7, there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon fought in his angels. Verse 9, and the dragon was cast out. That old serpent called the devil and Satan. So that’s how we know they’re all the same. which deceiveth the whole world, he was cast out unto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
So there’s going to be all this, and God says, when this happens here, and you’ll notice I got a little black line that goes up there, and that little black line goes all the way over there, well look what it goes to, the devil. The prince of the power of the ear, and he comes down, and he is going to manifest himself in his own man. You see, we talk about Christ as God was manifested as the Son of God.
What Satan is going to have his man also. And he can be the worst person that this world has ever known. He’ll be the greatest liar, impostor, deceiver, and he tries to give you the image that he is the real Christ. That’s why Israel will be deceived and make a peace treaty with a false antichrist, a false Christ. Not a false antichrist. He will be there. Now, during this period of time, Satan is going to unleash his fury upon this earth.
And so when he does that, who is he going to unleash it upon? Who did he make the peace treaty with? Israel. And this is the woman, and this is where all the nations are going to be gathered together. Zechariah in chapter 14, God says, I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle. all nations means all nations. All nations will turn against Israel. And look at that little sliver of a country over there and all the world against it and unless God intervenes nobody will be left alive on this planet.
He says that and that’s in Matthew chapter 24 you get a chance to read it. Don’t do it now. Do it later. Now next I want you to see is a scripture found here in chapter 13. The one beast and then not in verse 11 is the second beast. This is the religious head, the religious political system that will give power unto the political system. So the religious will cause people to worship the beast and all this is going to take place because if everybody was of the same religion and of the same governmental philosophy, think of all the people have in the world.
It’ll mean the biggest demonstration of dictatorship that the world has ever known because the son is going to pull out his anger. God the father is going to pull out his wrath and you’ve got the devil going to pull out his wrath. Wouldn’t you like to be here? That’s why God has not appointed his children unto wrath. We’re going to be taken out before the, see the seven years has to be seven years because it’s part of the 70th week of Daniel.
When Christ died on the cross that ended the 69th week of Daniel and there was one more week left and that week had been shoved into the future. But when the church is taken out like a parenthetical expression in a sentence it doesn’t hurt the flow of the sentence at all. It can come right together in that 69th week will flow right into the 70th week as though the church age never existed. Are you a new listener to Bibleline?
