Everybody’s got burdens and some of these burdens are responsibilities. So as an individual I am supposed to fulfill my responsibilities, that’s my burden. And another person’s, well they’ve got their responsibilities. But those that are weak may not fulfill all of their responsibilities. So those that are strong and fulfilling your responsibility, part of the ministry is to help the person that’s weaker, fulfill his. So you are to walk with the Lord and get the strength and so forth to help somebody else.
That’s why if you’re never helping anybody, causes people to wonder, are you strong at all? Or don’t you care about anybody? You can’t get close to the Lord without loving that which God loves and God so loved the world and you don’t care about anybody but yourself you don’t love it means you don’t really love the Lord you know about him you want to be close and things like that but I’m talking about you don’t really love him because he says if you love me keep my commandment serve me do what I ask you to do and if you won’t do that why not.
Oh, because you don’t love him. But if you do love him, do it. And so there’s a lot of people that don’t know what you know. You know what lifting weights does, you know, a person wants to get strong, they try to live weights. Go to the gym room, workout. It’s because you’re looking for the resistance. It’s something that pulls against you. It’s heavy. It’s hard. And so you’re trying to lift something that’s hard and it builds up the muscles on your own body, right?
The barbell doesn’t get any stronger. Those ways stay the same, but you’re using them to build you up. So whenever you serve the Lord, you’ll get stronger. You’ll get stronger by doing what God wants you to do. And that’s why I look right here in the book of Galatians in chapter 6. Look what he says in verse 2, “‘Bere ye one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.'” What is the law of Christ? There’s the law of Moses, but he’s not talking about fulfilling the law of Moses, the law of Christ.
The law of Christ is the law of love, the law of love. It’s like if you love your wife, love has its own set of rules. It means there’s things you’ll do and not do. Well, if you love the Lord and as you say so feel feel the law of Christ, the law of love. What is love making you do? What does God’s love make you do in your Christian life. How are you growing? Are you doing more than you used to do?
Closer to the Lord, more dedicated, want to get more involved, do something, training yourself, studying the word of God, you’d be surprised. Now no way is said in verse 3, but if a man think, see those words here, think, because see over in the book of Philippians what we’re talking about is how a person thinks. He says, if a man thinks himself to be something when he is, don’t that hurt. When he is nothing, he deceived himself. And remember this Christ says, without me, you can do nothing without him.
In other words, you piten, you can go through the motions, but you won’t have a real love, the real joy. It’s a phony kind. You ever Christians that are phony, hypocritical, they’re not genuine, but they they all say the right things and so forth and they’ll even tell you things like this I’ll pray for you but never pray. I’m for you. I got your back. Way back. See, I think about a leader’s if you go on his 10th steps ahead, then they can follow you.
But if you get too far ahead, you’re a martyr. Right. They’re way back there. They’re gone. So look what he says. In the last part of verse three, he says, he deceiveth who? He deceives himself. Are there a lot of Christians that are deceiving themselves. Look what he says in verse four. But let every man, every man, we can throw women in there too. Let every man get to prove his own work or test, discern. Check up, see how you doing?
I tell the college kids, an unexamined life is not worth living. An unexamined life is not worth living. So a lot of people are living a life that’s not worth living. It has no value to it. God left us here and the whole thing is about what does that profit my brethren? So you’re doing things in this life that will profit. Those who see you, those who hear you, and when you get to heaven, God will reward you. So then He says here in the last part in verse four, then shall He have rejoicing, see those do words, in Himself alone.
Not because of what somebody else is doing, but because of what you’re doing. See, if you go through life and you’re not happy, that’s your fault. If you don’t have peace, that’s your fault. If you don’t have joy, that’s your fault. Don’t blame that on somebody. Look what he says there in verse 22 of chapter five. He was right there in the book, the relation. The fruit of the spirit is what? Love, joy, peace, long, suffering, gentle, goodness, faith, ministry, 10th verse, and so forth.
He can start saying, there’s no law. These things right here are the fruit of the spirit. That lives inside of you. Nobody else controls that. You control that. You’re just blaming it on somebody else, only because you don’t want to take the responsibility for your lack of control. Because your own lack of thoughts. And it’ll turn you into a bitter person. You’ll look everything, like everything, if you had on rose colored glasses, you’ll see everything through rose colored glasses.
You put on some that’s green, and everything you see is green. If you’re not right on the inside, you’ll find fault with everything and everybody. Don’t you know that? Yeah, you know that. You know that. Now look what he says in verse 4. Let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself and not in another. Now you want the best for somebody else, but you gotta get to the place where, how are you doing?
How are you doing this? Because see, your wife may not always respond right. Your husband may not always respond right. Your kids may not. Your grandkids may hate you. All kind of things can go wrong. You lose your job, lose your health, whatever it is. Okay, but is that where all of your peace and joint happiness comes from? Everything going right? You see, usually we say happiness comes from good happenings. And if it’s bad happenings, I can’t be happy.
Jesus says this to his disciples, he says, these things that I’m telling you to do, he says, happy are ye if you do them. Happy are ye if you do them. You do what God says to you, you’re to be happy because he gets a result of what you’re doing for the Lord. But if you don’t do it and you’re not serving God like you should, guilt. Because you know you’re not fulfilling your responsibilities, what eat it you like cancer, and it’ll rob you of your peace, your love, and your joy.
The very things you want you can’t have. Now, in verse 5, let every man shall bear his own burden. So you’ve got your own responsibilities. But right up then the other verse, three, on verse 2, it bear you one another’s burdens. So you have your responsibility. help other people bear their responsibility. Because I know that everybody’s supposed to be a soul winner, I’ve got to take the time to try to teach everybody how to be a soul winner. That means you’ve got to give the gospel.
So I’ve got to take the time every service that I speak. You’ll notice at the end of the service, or sometimes before, I try to, one more time here’s one more lesson on how to be a soul winner, and you’ll see me do and give the gospel. Why? Because I’m trying to help somebody else be successful in their life, their Christian life. I want to teach people the Bible. Why? Because I want you to work for. Walk right. See, if I didn’t care about anybody else, why do anything?
I’d be on the backside of a mountain up there in Alaska someplace and you’d be watching me on television about one of those mountain men up there that’s going under. They didn’t make it. Trying to find out how to live. Betty, go get us a deer tonight, deer. I love watching those shows about how the people are living living like I thought, now I wouldn’t mind some of that if I didn’t know this. But knowing this… Won’t set me free to do that.
Though I would love to, but I’ve got to sacrifice a few of the things that I’d like to do and I feel somewhere along the line. When I get to heaven and then in the kingdom of the earth, God just let me have a mountain on the backside up there in Alaska someplace and I won’t mind it at all. We’ll see why. We’ll see how that works. Turn to the book of Philippians. Kind of looking at some of the things that helps us in our day-to-day walk.
You know, if everybody could just stay in the house. strong day by day. Everybody would stay faithful to the Lord. Wouldn’t it be wonderful? But you know you’re always building the work upon the temporary dedication of God’s people. They don’t stay faithful. So you got to take the ones that are and do what you can as long as you can. So that’s what we do. But anyway, we’re studying in the book of Philippians in chapter two. There’s a lot of good things to talk about in the book of Philippians.
It’s just about every area of your life. And I look forward to teaching every week. I love preaching. I can’t wait for Sunday morning services. I can’t wait for the night because I, it’s like I got so much to say and I don’t have enough time to say it all. But notice what he says here in verse 5, verse 5 of chapter 2. Now, this is what we mentioned last week, but as you read these scriptures, though we know it’s talking about Jesus Christ, also to apply it personally.
And to see yourself the way God sees you. Now, before you trust that Christ is your Savior, you were just a child in the flesh, child in the flesh. And because you were just a child in the flesh, you were separated from the Lord, you were not his child, you did not have eternal life. So you was on the other side of the world. But now you trusted Christ. Now you’re his child. See yourself the way God sees you.
If you saw yourself the way God sees you, you wouldn’t have a bad self-image. A lot of people have a bad image of themselves. They look in the mirror and they don’t like what God made. Because you think, well, if I was God, I could have done a lot better job than that. So they don’t appreciate what God’s made. And they look at somebody else and compare themselves with somebody else. else. You know, there’s always the guy that’s comparing himself with the guy that’s built like, you know, chiseled out of granite, you know what I mean?
Well, don’t compare yourself with him. You know, some people, if they want to take a look like they’ve really lost a lot of weight, they just hang around big, bigger people and they think that makes him look better. Well, it might not mind, but you still say, you still you, whatever you are, that’s you. And so you’ve got to look at yourself the way God sees you and God sees you, you are His child and you are important. You are special.
You are a child of the king. Oh, I love that song. We ought to sing that today. But anyway, he says here, let this mind be in you, learning how to think, guarding your mind. Just take your Bible and hold it right there. But look there in chapter 4, same book, chapter 4. And look what he says in verse 6, be careful or anxious or worry about nothing. Nothing. But in everything by prayer and supplication, that means you’re not going to worry about the things you committed to the Lord in prayer.
So you pray to the Lord about everything, cast in all you cared upon Him, and then don’t worry about it, because that’s what you did. Didn’t you? Lord I’m cast in all my character upon you, you worry about it. How much sleep do you think he’s going to lose? You think God’s wringing his hands? That your problem is too big and he don’t how to handle it. No, God’s God. And he knows how to handle everything and he can work out things in your life that you cannot work out.
That’s why when you get to your last strong, no hope. God didn’t die. Talk to the Lord. And that’s why he says here, in supplication, get this with thanksgiving, whatever your requests are, whatever you pray into the Lord for, also he says, thanksgiving, let your requests be made known in the Lord. Be thankful for whatever it is God’s brought your way. Now a lot of times I have people ask me to say, yeah, you pray for this, pray for that, pray for a lot of things.
And so the thing is God may bring some things into a person’s life that he doesn’t want to take away. He uses things to teach us lessons, to help us to grow strong, to see some of our weaknesses. So what I do is I like to pray that God will use whatever they’re going through to help them to be a stronger Christian, because I know that’s the will of God. I don’t know that it’s God’s will to remove all their problems.
God, me have brought their problems for a reason. Think about it. Isn’t that true? Why should I ask God to remove something that God put there for a particular reason? So I want God’s will to be accomplished in that person’s life. I want them to be stronger, engraised, and learn to trust the Lord and to cast their cares upon the Lord, but stay faithful. Just stay faithful. And that way I believe that’s more along the lines of the will of God.
So I can’t always pray what people ask me to pray. Pray that I get healed. Well, what do you think you need to learn from this? It’s not always God’s will to heal everybody if he did nobody would die Right we keep everybody alive What if you couldn’t die as long as your wife wanted you to live?
Well here you are how old are you now? I’m 250 years old. I mean wives if you had 20 and They keep praying that you never die. Wouldn’t that be terrible? Aren’t you glad that God overrides some of our will? I am, but notice what else he says here. This is part I want you to see. In verse 7, and the peace of God, remember, you still got the problems, you still got all the things that are going wrong, and the peace of God which passes all human understanding shall keep.
That word, keep means to guard your hearts and minds through Christ you. It’s to guard your mind. So when he said, let this mind be in you, you need to have something to help you to guard your mind, to guard how you think. It’s like putting some, you know, people on a wall around the city and their watchmen, they’re guarding the city. Well, you’re going to have certain things that you think about that helps guard your mind, how you think.
Because if you can think right, you can live right. But if you don’t think right, you can’t live right. And so a lot of people are not living right because they can’t think right. So all of this year hinges upon how do you think? And so I think that’s a great verse to memorize that. No word said, no word that verse is found in your Bible. Now go back to Philippians in chapter two. And verse five, we’ll let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.
Now we have mentioned this before, but I just mentioned to you again. There’s a sermon that I usually preach at Christmas time. I change the word sometimes, but sometimes preach the same message. So I fool you, you know. You don’t know it’s the same message, because I tend to title of it. But it goes like this, the crib, the cross, and the crown. Christmas time. You talk about the crib. You talk about the cross. You talk about the crown.
Now can’t you think of a little sermon outline on just those three things? All right, what is the crib? Well, that talks about the birth of Christ, right? So you’ve got the birth. And then you’ve got the other one that talks about the burden, you know, the cross that he had to bear. And then you have the crown when you get to heaven. So Jesus Christ, when he came into the world, there was the good crib and there’s a story and prophesied about the crib.
And then there’s prophesies about the cross and all those prophesies that are fulfilled, about 300 and something fulfilled when Christ died on the cross. So here’s Christ on the cross. And then after the death, Berlin resurrection of Christ, he goes to heaven and not there’s the crown. So you can see that and it’s so simple, but relate it to yourself personally. In your life, in your life, you were born into the world and you were in a crib. That’s why the first time I remember, after I was born, I was behind bars and hit the bottle.
And anyway, you know, you just tell a little humor and then move on, but some of them last to get it. And a lot of kids never get it. I, um, we know you talk about your time when you were born into this world. There was a time and a place and you were born, boy or girl, whatever it was, that’s what you were born. And there are no other kind. There’s no such thing as a transvest site. You were either male or female.
There are no other kinds. In the beginning, male and female created he them. That’s only kind of God made. It doesn’t matter what you add on take off. Do you see either a man or a woman? And some of them can’t figure this out. They said, I don’t know what I am. Well, look in the mirror. Ask your mother and father, somebody ought to be able to tell what you are. Now, now they’re trying to figure that out when they’re born in the hospital.
But listen, there was a time you were born and you have a story. You have a 379, you have a father. You might have had brothers and sisters, you are in a certain place. You could have been the child of a rich man or a poor man, but whatever it is, then I guess I wanted to avoid that to his dad. He’s talking about, how many times can you get married? And the little boy says, 16. You know, four better, four worse, four good, four whatever.
That’s 16. So you can get married that many times. I think I missed that joke a bit now. Maybe the next time I ought to read it. Well anyway, it was kind of like one of those black birds come flying over my head. And then stay long enough for me to get the whole story. But anyway, you have a time when you were born. So you’ve got a story to tell. And then here you are. And however long you have lived so far, 30 years, 50 years, you have a burden.
You have a responsibility. You’ve got things to do. You’ve got a job. You’ve got to make money. You’ve got to provide whatever it is this body needs. Did you know if this body didn’t need food or shelter close, do you realize how much less work you could get away with? Most of it’s taken care of by it. Do you realize that as you get older this body demands more medicine than ever before? And how many doctors you got to go to?
All the health insurance? Our whole country has been talking about this for what eight, nine years now? Trying to figure out how to keep everybody healthy. So they can live longer. Why? Why? Why do we want people to live longer? Well, they just, because they get, that way you got more misery. He’s just three score in 10, 70 years. But if I reached their strength, they’d be 80. That is their heartache and sorrow and misery. And then you still die.
You just had more time to be miserable. It’s not how long you live. It’s how well you live, the time you live. I would rather live for 50 years and really live than 100 years and never did anything with my life. Because you’ve got a lot of people that are just holy waste of life. So you have a story that you have a burden. You’ve got your life. It’s your cross that you have to bear. And nobody else can bear if you’re a cross for you.
You’ve got to bear this. You’ve got to live it out and you’ve got to eat and sleep and work and all these things. And then what’s the last thing? You’re going to die. And then after that, what happens? Well, if you’re going to heaven, that’s good. If you’re not, no, that’s bad. Now, here along comes somebody and they share with you the gospel of Jesus Christ. You heard the gospel, you believed it, you trusted Christ as your Savior. Now, you’re starting all over again.
After all of that, now Now you’re starting on, not you got a new birth. Now you have another story about a new crib. Now you’re a baby born into God’s family. And so to be raised correctly, you need to go to the church where they feed you the word of God and teach you how to walk, how to stand. So that’s the purpose of the church to help a Christian learn how to be a strong, But you’re Christian because you can’t make people grow.
But if you feed the word and they take it in, growth will be automatic. You don’t have to get a little baby and say, little baby, grow, grow. And he just looked at goo goo, grow. No, you just feed the kid. Growth will take care of itself. You just feed that kid. But you have a new birth. Now as a new birth, you’ve got to feed upon the Word of God so you can become strong. Look up here, this hand represents you and me.
The wallet represents all of our sins. We all have sin on us. God loves us but He hates our sin. Now for us to pay for sin is eternal separation from God in hell. But God loves us. God doesn’t want us to go to hell. He wants us to go to heaven. But to go to heaven we have to be perfect. As righteous as God. about His perfect. We’ve all sinned. We’ve all come short of God’s perfection. So because of sin we can’t get in.
So the Bible says we cannot save ourselves. So we can’t do anything to get to heaven because we’re already condemned, found guilty. We’ve got a debt to pay. So we can’t go to heaven. It’s impossible. Nothing we do can get us to heaven because we have debt to pay and that’s eternal separation from God. We’re all in the same boat. So unless God does something, there’s nothing we can do. So Jesus Christ, this hand represented Jesus Christ, God in the flesh came into the world because He loves us.
He displayed His love toward us and while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He did it while you were at the center. So Christ who had no sin didn’t have to die. So he took all the sin of all the world paid for them. The cross came back from the dead. He said you and I would believe that he did that for us. He would put that payment to your account and we would go to heaven on what he did.
55 years ago. I heard this message for the first time. I was 18 years old. So I trusted Jesus Christ as my son. Savior. I heard that I could not save myself. I thought I was pretty good and I had to repent, change my mind. I cannot save myself. So I had to change my mind and trust Christ as my Savior. I repented. You see, if you are an unbeliever and you believe, you had to change your mind. True?
So I can lead a lot of people to the Lord without ever telling them to repent. But I can tell a person who’s lost, you need to change your mind. You need to believe on Jesus Christ. You don’t believe it now, where you believe it. And when you believe that, he gives you as a free gift everlasting life. You go to heaven on what Christ did for you. So change your mind and believe it. That is what God wants you to do as a result of you’re changing your mind.
So if you’re here today and you think that your good life is going to get you to heaven, change your mind. If you think giving money, singing and it’s choir, being a deacon, or not sure, whatever. I love my husband and my wife and kids. Well, that’s wonderful, but that doesn’t save you. You need a Savior. And Jesus Christ is the only Savior there is. See, we can’t save ourselves impossible. That’s why you don’t turn from your sin, He paid for it.
What He wants you and I to do is believe He did it for us. That made sense to me. So I trust that Christ is my Savior years ago. And that’s how I know that I’m going to heaven whenever I die. Let’s pray, shall we? With every head bowed and every eye closed and no one looking around. If you’ve never done so, today would be a perfect day. This would be a good moment for you to truly trust Jesus Christ and Him alone as your only hope of going to heaven.
I’m going to ask you just a moment to raise your hand. Raising your hand doesn’t save you. I’m not going to have you forward. I’m not going to embarrass you. But right where you’re sitting, if what I said made sense to you, say, preach of that made sense to me and I want to be certain I’m going to heaven and right now I do change my mind. I’m going to trust Christ and Him alone is my only hope of going to heaven, and I’d like for you to pray for Him.
Friend, would you just slip your hand very quickly and put it right back down? Not gonna embarrass you, not gonna point you out, not gonna have your stand up coming forward, but right where you are. Did it make sense? Will you trust Christ as your Savior? And what at all? Our Father, we thank You so much for all You’ve done for us, for giving us a free gift of everlasting life. And Father, we also pray that each person here that knows your Savior, would realize if there’s things in their life that they’re doing that’s not right, that they would repent.
Change your mind, reconsider, and see that some things need to be corrected. That it could lead to a change of life because each one of us should live in such a way that shows how much we love you and what you’ve done for us. So bless each one, and Christ, name me, pray. Amen.
