Take your Bible and turn to the book of Genesis, the book of Genesis. In the Old Testament, it’s the last book in your Bible if you turn it upside down, Genesis chapter 14. You’ve heard of a man named Abraham and you know that he had a nephew. Anybody know his nephew’s name? Lot. Now Abraham Lot were getting long fairly good But the Lord blessed him and they just you know It just grew and they wind up with a lot of servants a lot of cattle and a lot of sheep and all that kind of stuff You know, but there’s only so much land and they were just too close together So I don’t believe God’s gonna do everything he wanted to do with Abraham as long as Lot was there so he had them split up.

So they split up. It says up there in chapter 13, where in verse 12, Abraham, he dwalt in the land of Canaan, lot, well he dwalt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent towards Sodom. But the men of Sodom were wicked in sinners before the Lord exceedingly. Now that’s the description that God says what kind of men they were. God says they were center, wicked, and exceedingly. So that was God’s viewpoint of what they were doing.

And remember, Don’t This was written by Moses, many hundreds of years later, telling what God thought about it then. Moses wasn’t here at this time to write this when it was happening. He wrote it a long time later. And then the Bible says in chapter 14 that Abraham delivers a lot. Well, why would He deliver a lot? Well, a lot was in trouble. A lot had a problem. You see, there were some kings that didn’t like Solomon Gamore and some other places, so they decided they’d just go in there and raid them.

So they went down there and they did just and they took some of the people and some of their stuff and took a lot along with them. But what’s interesting is it just so happened, just so happened. Or look in verse 12, where it says, and they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son who dwelt in Sonim and his goods and departed. And there came one that had escaped. Isn’t amazing to one of them happened to escape, just a coincidence. You know whenever you read in the book of Job, it didn’t matter what kind of a And catastrophe there was, there was always one that was left to carry the news.

And somebody brought the news. Somebody brought the news. And God always has somebody. And whether it’s good news or bad news, it seems like there’s always somebody willing to tell. So he says here in verse 14, and when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants born in his own house, 318 in pursuit after them. Now you notice that he says here, he armed his trained servants. That means they were trained in something and he armed them.

He had his own militia and he was willing to go and deliver life. Now this was something that Abraham could do. I don’t know whether he asked the Lord, Lord, do you want me to do this or not? But that was Lot. That was his nephew. And if it hadn’t have been for Lot, he probably wouldn’t have done anything but because it was Lot. So he heard that and he went and the Bible says in verse 15, he fought against him and They won.

And when they won, they came back and the king of Sodom came out to meet him, de greet him, and then he offered Abraham some great things and Abraham made the statement, I don’t want anything from you lest I should have say I have made Abraham rich. In other words, some people, that’s all they think about is getting rich, rich, rich, rich, and don’t care how they do it. But Abraham says I don’t want you to have The ability down the road to think and to say to tell anybody you made me rich.

I Believe Abraham knew what kind of people they were what was going on But the Lord honored him so in verse one of chapter 15 After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in the vision saying fear not Abram I am thy shield and I am thy great exceeding reward.” You might have lost something there because later on, you know, one of the laws that God gave to Moses was you don’t take money from a dog.

And I think that he’s talking about you don’t take money into the temple that came from a homosexual. But that’s a little yankology, maybe, but it could be a lot of truth. But he wanted him to know, look, when you serve me, it may cost you something temporarily. But I’ve got something and I am thy great exceeding reward. Did you know one of the greatest values you can ever have is not just what God can give to you, but just the honor of being used by God.

think God used me and God can use you, but to know that. But you see, we always know that there’s some things that happens in life that causes us to pray to the Lord. Now, you know the story, but we’re going to look at it real quickly. Look there in Genesis in chapter 18, Genesis chapter 18. Now, you know, in a tent, several people come walking up to him, from out of nowhere. And he fixes them something to eat and all and they have a good talk.

And he says that you’re going to have a son, see the first 10. And he says, I will certainly return the according to the time of life and lo Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age and it ceased to be with Sarah after the men are women. Therefore, Sarah laughed within her soul, saying, After I am waxed, oh shall I have pleasure, my Lord, been old also, and the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of sure thee bear a child, which am old?

Is anything too hard for the Lord. So here was an improbable situation. God made a promise and she laughed. She didn’t see how in the world is this going to happen? How is this going to take place? Well, in a time of life, I guess you would say in about nine months, lo and behold, there was a child. But there was something else that’s going to go on and says that, But shall I tell Abraham what I’m about to do?

See God has things that he’s going to do. Sometimes he lets us in on it and sometimes he doesn’t. Now God has let us in on some of the things that’s going to happen in the world. That’s why we call it, it’s called prophecy. He lets us know what’s going to take place. Good or bad or indifferent, it still he tells us. But he doesn’t always give us all the little details of it. We know the panoramic view. We call it a prophetic survey.

We can get that. We have an idea, but there’s a lot of little details we don’t know. We’ve got to live our life. But some of the things are done in such a way that we can’t change it. You can’t stop the things that God says are definite that are going to take place, and man can’t change that. But there’s freedom within the definite boundaries of the prophecies where we have freedom to choose. You can obey or disobey. But our obedience or disobedient, I don’t believe, is going to hasten or drag out the rapture.

I believe it’s on a time scheduled and God knows when it’s going to happen and that’s going to take place. And I believe that the Antichrist is going to come right on schedule and I believe that the Lord is going to come back at the end of seven years right on schedule and it’s going to happen. And I believe it’s going to be a thousand-year reign. It’s going to happen upon the earth and it’s going to happen just like God says.

Now, when God made this statement to Abram, he said, shall I tell him what I’m going to do? Well, what was he going to tell him he was going to do? Well, he just was going to tell him that he says, I’m going to go. I’m going to destroy this place. So you see there in verse 20, and the Lord says, because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great and because their sin is very grievous. So does God say that their cry is great and their sin is grievous?

So what sin you think he’s talking about? Picking their nose? Not exactly. He says in verse 21, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether, according to the private, which is coming to me and if not, I will know. And the men turned their faces from thence and went towards Sodom, but Abraham stood yet before the door. neighbor him drew near and said, well, not also destroy the righteous with the wicked. Who was he concerned about?

He was concerned about one person that was alive. Why did you think he started off up there with 50? Because, well, he didn’t know God would do it for just one person. But would you do it for 50? Well, that’s pretty high up there. But yeah, I’ll do it for 50. There’s 50 right there. What if there’s not 50? Well, what about 40? and then dawn down the line as they kept getting lower and lower. 40 down to 30, and then down to 20.

And then verse 32, he says, now Lord, don’t get mad at me. And the reason he said that was because he probably thought the Lord’s gonna get mad at him or angry with him. He said, oh, not the Lord be angry. I will speak yet, but this one, per adventure, 10 shall be found there. And he says, I will not destroy it for 10, say. And the Lord went his way and as soon as he had left communion with Abraham, and Abraham returned unto us by.

What was Abraham doing? He was praying. He is talking to God. He’s asking God, prayer is asking and receiving. He wants to get an answer. He asked and he got answers. So that’s what we do. we pray to the Lord. But we know as we read this, He has one person in mind. So did God go ahead and destroy the place? He destroyed. But what did He do before He destroyed it? He got a lot out of there. So that might be a reason because Abraham was praying for this one thing.

Now I don’t know, God could have let him just stay there and blow him all up. But we believe that it’s also a type that God can deliver his people even when he destroys a place like Sodom and Gomorrah. And the reason that he spared Lot was because Lot was such a righteous man, right? He wasn’t a righteous man? He was righteous and he was just but he wasn’t living as a righteous man or as a righteous man. And the Bible says he vexes his righteous soul from day to day by the things that he saw and heard.

So yes, there were some things that were asked the Lord. And if it hadn’t been that that was nephew lot, whether or not he would have ever done this. But the Lord still answered his prayer. He delivered lot, but he destroyed Sodom and D’amorrah. So you never know sometimes exactly how God’s going to answer a prayer. But you notice it didn’t just ask one time and he stopped or twice and and he stopped. And the New Testament tells about how that this woman in her persistence went to the judge and wore him out.

And he says for my sanity I granted her her request. And it’s used as a reason to teach that you don’t just ask one time and then quit. He says you ask and you keep asking, not and keep knocking. Seek and keep seeking and it will be opened in the you, you will receive and so on. So take your Bible now and turn the book of Numbers, the book of Numbers. Numbers He’s chapter 12 in the book of Numbers as a brief little story.

Moses had a brother. What was his name? He had a sister. What was her name? Miriam. Miriam. Miriam and Aaron. So this was one happy family. They really loved each other. They stuck together, you know, like peanut butter and jelly, you know, they just really hung in there. I remember a guy one time, it went to Florida Bible College, Bill Butterworth. He wrote a little book called, A Peanut Butter Family Sticks Together. Peanut Butter Family Sticks Together. Never forget it.

But here it says in chapter 12, and Miriam and Aaron speak against Moses. Moses is a big brother. So here you’ve got a brother and you’ve got a sister and they’re both talking about their big brother and They’re saying wonderful things about him, right? Well, they were kind of it seemed like they were jealous. You know what somebody says I think you have too much power What they mean is they want some They even they don’t have enough and they they want to be able to have power Sometimes you wish you didn’t have any at all.

That just means you’re responsible. But notice what he says. And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because, and here’s the why, of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married, for he had married an Ethiopian woman. Now do you think she was red and yellow, black or white? Probably black, wouldn’t you think? I mean, just a possibility. So would that cause trouble in the family? Somebody could be prejudiced. Well, that’s what he did. And because that’s what he did, they criticized him.

And says in verse two, and they said, Have the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? Have He not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard them. Do you think God listens in on our conversations? He’s better than Google and all these other ones that’s got all this information. The Lord is listening in on your conversation. Now, people are concerned about they have no right to ease dropping our conversation. Do you know that the Lord is listening in on your conversation?

All of them, here’s every word and the motive behind it and even the thoughts, even the thoughts. Remember when it says that Sarah laughed within herself and the Lord says, you laughed. He says, I did not. You did too. And remember there was another woman by the name of Hannah that was praying. She never said the words out loud. It was Eli that just saw her lips moving. Thought she was drunk, but she was praying. So here he talks about, you know, here’s brother and sister got a problem with big brother.

They said, well, God can speak to us too. So look what the Lord did. And you won’t find as too many places, but it says here in verse 3, now the man Moses was very meek. Doesn’t mean he was weak. But then meek, he probably did not misuse his power that he had. He probably could have been stronger on some of his actions than somebody else would have. There’s a lot of people who are yet strength, but me, it’s like a stowg and a horse, but because of the bits and the fives is under control.

There was time when Moses would be a very meat man. He was a powerful man because of the possession, but because he was under God’s authority, he was under control. So he was a meatman power under control. Now a lot of people can’t handle positions of leadership because it goes to their head too much power. They don’t know what to do with it. They become so dictatorial, authoritative, and so on. And it can happen. But he says here, now the man Moses was very meek above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.

In other words, nobody quite liked this guy. But remember this, there was a time in Moses’s life when he was still down in Egypt when he was about 40 years of age. He already made up his mind. He believed that God was going to use him to deliver Israel from Egypt and sought to do it, David in his own. But he believed he was the man. And it says that in the book of Acts chapter 7, you read it.

And then lo and behold, he runs on the backside of a desert for 40 years, and now he really doesn’t care. When God says, I got a job for you, he says, not me. Well, I want you to go down there and say, why should I do it? I can’t talk and he gave him five reasons and God gave him five answers. In other words, God wouldn’t accept none of his reasons. And see, Moses was a meek man. He had done learned humility.

I can’t do it. I can’t. I’m not the man. Now, there’s a lot of times you can have so much confidence in your own abilities and own talents that God will let you get out on a limb and then what somebody saw it off just to show you. One thing God hates and that is pride, but look what he says here. In verse 4, the word suddenly Yoranda land. And the Lord spake suddenly undimosives and unto Aaron and under Maryam.

Come out, E3. All three of y’all, come in here. I want to talk to you. Come out, E3, unto the tabernacle of the Congate, and they three came out. The Lord came down in the pillar of a cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle and called Aaron and Maryam, and they both came for. And he said, here now my words, if there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision and will speak unto him in a dream.

My servant, Moses is not so, who is faithful in all my house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth. He speaks the word straight to Moses, not in a dream and not in a vision, but word to word. He speaks to him and so he talks to Moses and then he says this. He says in verse 8, even apparently and not in dark speeches and the similitude of the Lord shall he uphold? Wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

And just because well that’s my brother. It doesn’t matter if it’s your brother. Now he’s not just brother. This is a man of God. And you have to be careful. Do you know what you need to be careful of? Is denigrating or holding a less value people in your own household while you exalt other people that are not family. You watch, don’t mistreat family. Don’t mistreat your brother or your sisters or your mother or your father just because, well, they’re family.

You ought to treat them better than anybody else. Think about it. Ain’t that true? Shouldn’t you treat your wife better than you treat other women? Shouldn’t you treat your husband better than you treat other men? Shouldn’t you treat them the right way? You say, well, that doesn’t matter. Nobody knows. There’s a God in heaven that hears every argument. Donnie? Well, it’s at dark time you can cut off the light and he can’t hear. And he can’t see. So he doesn’t know what’s going on.

Well, again, who else he says here in verse eight, he says, why were you not afraid? Look in verse nine, and the anger of the Lord was kindled against them and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle and behold, Miriam became leopress. Huyah snow and Aaron looked upon Miriam and saw that she was leopress. And he said in the Moses, alas, my Lord, I be ceasily, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly.

And wherein we have sinned, there’s not a way that sometimes you just get them to quickly admit they were wrong. Moses didn’t have to do this to them. That’s why he’s talking about him being meek. But the Lord nailed him. And he says in verse 12, let her not be as one dead of whom the flesh is half consumed when he come out of his mother’s womb and Moses cried under the door. Now he’s praying. Now see over there in the book of Genesis where he was talking about Abraham, he prayed for his nephew.

Here, even though Moses had been wronged by two of them in his family, close to him, he now prays for them. He doesn’t say, You know Goody, goody. Gotcha. You deserve everything that’s happened to you. No, he says, and Moses cried unto the Lord. He’ll hear now, O God, I beseech thee. And the Lord said to Moses, if her father had but spit in her face, would she not be ashamed seven days? In other words, to incur the wrath of her father, she ought to be ashamed of herself.

That he would have to do so. something like that. He says, this is a verse that says it’s okay to spit in your daughter’s face. Evidently. Hopefully you never have to do that. But I’ve seen times when you might want to slap their jaws. But anyway, so Miriam had to stay outside of the camp for seven days. And the whole camp had to stay still for seven days. Two million people, whatever they had, all because of one woman. But Moses prayed for his sister.

It could have been bad she would have died for papillipacy, but he intervened on her behalf. See, sometimes you’ll find out there’ll be people that were wrong. You’re so what? Forgive them and pray for them and try to do right by them. Let me give you one more that I want you to see. Look here in the book of judges, the book of judges, right after the book of Joshua. Judges chapter 16, not long ago I mentioned to you about this, and we had a few little comments about Samson.

Now you know that Samson was a pretty strong individual. Had to do with his physical strength, and his long hair was because of a a Nazarite vow. And there were certain things that they were not supposed to do, but he didn’t always do what he was supposed to. And he looked a little bit too far and he saw a woman that he was not supposed to have. Anybody remember her name? Delilah. I met a Delilah not long ago. I don’t know if it was at Ranch or Camp, but I saw a Delilah somewhere.

Oh, she came over here one day and I met her. Her name was Delilah. I’ve never heard anybody named her kid Delilah. It’s like naming him Judas. You just don’t do that. But she seemed to be nice and friendly. She didn’t even think like she ever heard of Delilah before. But anyway, Samson had done some things wrong and he married up with this one woman, Delilah. I went to the wrong barbershop. This is why you don’t go to a girl’s barbershop.

No, that’s not true. I got in my hair cut by women a lot of times But there’s something that he says over and over again About three times here. I want you to look at in verse seven Samson said unto her if they bind me with seven green with They that were never dried then shall I be weak and be as another man just to be like other people. In other words, he knew he was not like everybody else.

He knew he was different. Hello, this is Peter Amato with Bibleline, and we hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s program.
