I want to speak to you on a subject this morning and I want you to follow me. The subject is the conflict of the ages. The greatest war that there’s ever been. Years ago, I remember watching this movie, it was called The Longest Day. Anybody ever remember that movie? The longest day, a lot of you in here, The Longest Day. This is the longest war that there’s ever been. And it’s more important than the war that you might think is going on in your little life.
There are one that you might think is on the horizon. So anyway, I want to explain it to you, I hope you see it and I hope that you’ll enjoy it because as you see this, it’ll blow your mind seeing how close everything came to total chaos if God had not intervened over and over and over and over again. So turning your Bible to the book of Genesis in chapter 3, Genesis and chapter 3, now you you and I know God made in the beginning Adam and Eve.
And we know that the devil took over the serpent and then he talked to the woman. And then she listened to him. And then Adam listened to her. And then when they were confronted by God Adam blamed the woman. The The woman blamed the serpent. So I guess it was all God’s fault. But God said something to the serpent that I want you to see. You look there in verse 14, and the Lord God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle and above every beast of the field upon thy belly, shall thou go, and thus shall thou eat all the days of thy life.
Well, I’m glad I’m not a snake. And I will put enmity between the and the woman and between thy seed and her seed, and it shall bruise thy head and thou shall bruise his heel. I believe this is the first prophecy given in Scripture. And what he’s saying is that down the road there’s going to be a seed that comes from the woman and she says that her seed is going to hit the head, but bruise his heel. Now we know that the serpent is the devil and out at the cross Jesus Christ healed the head of the serpent, but bruised his heel.
Now if I’m out and I’m walking and I see something, the first thing I do is when I see that snake is I want to stop it. Not with my toe, but with my heel or run as fast as I can, which is generally even the first thing that I do. But I have stopped many a snake. You saw I’ve never done that. Well, you didn’t live like I did either. Now here is a prophecy about what’s going to happen down the road.
So we know the seed of the serpent and the seed of of the woman, there’s going to be a war down the road. Now, as you go down through here, you see many interesting things. Now, first of all, look there in Genesis chapter 4. Genesis chapter 4, and Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived. Bear Cain and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord, Eve and Jehovah. She thought maybe this is the one maybe. She She again bear his brother Abel.
And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. In the process of time, which is what life is about, the process of time, we know that Cain did not bring the right offering to the Lord. Abel did. He brought a blood sacrifice, but came didn’t. He brought the works of his hand. This is the first conservative and the first liberal in the world. They’re right here. So there was a disagreement. And God told him, says, look, all you’ve got to do is just bring the right offer.
But he was mad and didn’t do it. He hated his brother, Abel, and he slew him. Kill him. Now, God had promised, He’s going to bring into the world a seed which down the road is referring to Christ. So that means that there has to be a line all the way down through, a line of faith, a line of those that believed in the Lord. And the lion is not and cannot be broken. And through this seed what he just had Cain and they had Abel.
And Abel was murdered. So afterwards there was another one that came along. His name was Seth. And so Seth talks about the godly lion from Adam. And then take your Bible look there in the book of Genesis in chapter six. 6, Genesis chapter 6. As time went on and people multiplied upon the earth and they lived to be a long age, the Bible says this is what happened. In verse 5, God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
It repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth. It grieved him at his heart. So he says that I’m just going to destroy. In verse seven, man from the face of the earth. But in verse eight, he says, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. So the whole earth of all the people, and remember they lived to be eight and nine hundred years old. There could have been a lot of people upon the earth.
And then he says, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. So we’re talking about a man, a wife, three sons, and their wives, eight people total. But now God had made a promise that through her seed is going to be a person born down the road, it’s going to be this redeemer that’s going to take care of the devil for us. that this war is coming down there. What’s a great story? And as you read the Scriptures and you go through from the very beginning and you go through the Scriptures, you can see the trail of the serpent.
You can also see how the devil is trying to destroy the line all the way down through. And how that God miraculously intervenes over and over and over again. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord in Luke and verse 12. And God looked upon the earth, behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. Now, I believe that the devil has a lot to do with that. He’s working behind the scenes. The Bible calls him the prince of the power of the air.
The devil is alive and well on planet earth. Hellenzi wrote a book about that some years back. It was a good book, and it was the truth. He is alive, and he is well, and he is working very hard. You can’t see the evil spirit. You cannot see the devil, but then you can’t see God either. But there is another war going on at the same time as ours. The Bible described in the book of Ephesians in chapter six, talking about the wows of the devil, the principalities and the powers and all the things that’s behind the scenes that you and I can’t see with a naked eye.
I would venture to say, and I honestly believe that there are a lot of angels in this room. I believe there’s demonic angels in this room. I believe there’s God’s angels in this room. And if it wasn’t for God intervening for us, would all be killed. You see, you believe I? Yes, I do with all my heart. I believe I’m alive only by the grace of God. And I believe that God has given to me a guardian angel. I probably had 10 when I started, but they’ve all resigned except one.
I still got one left. Now take your Bible looking Genesis chapter 17. Genesis in chapter 17. God made a promise and he has to fulfill his word. So in chapter 17, I want you to look there in verse three. Abram fell on his face and God talked with him saying, as for may behold, my covenant is with thee and thou shall be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram. Well, that name shall be called Abraham.
I have for a father of midnations have I made thee. And he says in verse 7, and I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations with an everlasting covenant to be a God unto thee and you ought to underline this and to thy seed which is referring to Christ. As you’ll see there in the book of Galatians in chapter three, we don’t have time to look at it, but just take me at my word or you can take God at His word, thy seed after thee.
And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land where in thou art a stranger. All the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, I will be their God. So there is to be this unbroken line all the way down through, then this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and there to believe on the Lord, an unbroken line of faith in the Lord.
Now God had allowed many times for Israel to be whooped by many nations, but there was always a remnant that he had to keep. There always has to be a remnant in which to start again. And sometimes it came down to one person, one family. And the devil working behind the scenes, trying to eliminate this and keep this from happening. Boy, it’s an awesome story. When you follow this red line all the way through scripture, this crimson trail, this red trail, the conflict of the ages.
So look there in verse 15. Verse 15 says, and God said unto Abraham, as per Sarai, thy wife, thou shalt not call her Sarai, but Sarah, and her name be. And I will bless her and give thee a son also of her. Ye I will bless her and she shall be a mother of nations, kings of people shall be of her. And Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his heart shall a child be born unto me that is a hundred years old and shall Sarah that is many years old shall she bear an Abraham said unto God all that ishmael might live before the and God says Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed and thou shalt call his name Isaac and I will establish my covenant with him for everlasting covenant and with his seed after him.
So God made a vow to Abraham, a covenant. It would not be through Ishmael from where we have the Arab nations come from. God says, through Isaac shall by seed be called. So there’s a trail that it has to follow. And so Ishmael, well, there were problems there. And he was sent out because there was problems going on that they didn’t like, and Sarah didn’t like. So he sent Hagar and her son out and God said, I’m going to make them a great nation.
And they have become a great nation. And Israel is this low-bitty, tiny nation. But if it wasn’t for the Lord intervening, you could disprove this book by just violating this by just killing all the Jews. Kill them all and you’ll prove the Bible is not true, but you can’t do it. I don’t recommend trying. It says, I will bless them that bless thee and I’ll curse them that curse thee. And listen to me, I don’t like the present administration putting the curse upon America.
But when they take a stand in the UN against the nation of Israel, it brings a curse upon this country. And I really believe that. By the way, when they did that, it’s when that thing in the goth busted too. But we’ll move right along. That’s okay. So we know that it’s going to come through Isaac and then through Jacob and the wars on. And so that’s why you’ll find out many of the battles that goes on and how it happened.
Take your Bible, look in the book of Exodus in chapter 1. The book of Exodus in chapter 1, Make sure you follow me. Don’t go to sleep now. This is no time to take a nap You’re done it before you came. I told this one person I says wake up that person set beside you So I will not you put him to sleep you wake him up so Look in chapter one of the book of Exodus and look in verse 16 In verse 16, let me start first of all in verse 7 because you got to get the the background him and the children of Israel Now they’ve been down in Egypt They’ve been down there for 400 years and the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly Multiplied whacked exceeding mighty and the land was filled with them Now there are rows of a new king over
Egypt that did not know Joseph He said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and myer than we? Come on, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply and it come to pass that when they’re falling out in any war, they join with our enemies and fight against us and so get them up out of the land. Therefore, they did set over them task master to afflict them with their burdens and they built for Ramses’ treasure cities, put them in Ramses, but the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew and they were grieving.
because of the children of Israel and the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor and they made their lives bitter with hard bondage in mortar and in brick and in all manner of service in the field all their service wherein they made them serve was with rigor and the King of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives of which the name of the one was Shephra and the name of the other was poor, and he said, when ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see there upon the stool, if it be a son, then he shall be killed, you shall kill him.
But if it’s a daughter, then she shall live. But the midwives feared God and did not as the king of Egypt commanded him, and they saved the men, children alive. Now let’s just pretend If they had killed all the male children, it would have destroyed the line. You see, the line has to come through the tribe of Judah because that was told to Jacob because of Judah and the Septro should not depart from the lawgiver because of Shiloh talking about the certain tribe, the Messiah, has to come through.
Well, here you have them going to do away well, all of the children, the male children, then that would have broken the line and they would never have been. So even though they may have one golden mind, there’s somebody behind the scenes that’s scheming, trying to destroy the nation of Israel, trying to destroy, kind of keep that one person, that seed coming down the road that’s going to do in the Old Devil himself and there’s only one person that can do it and he has to come through this godly line that God has set up.
Take your Bible and look there in the book of Esther chapter 3, the book of Esther. Nehemiah, Esther, Job chapter 3, look in verse 1, there was a problem here and that was that Esther was a Jewish in captivity, in Persia. There was a man named Haman who wanted to kill all the Jews. So he went to the king and got the king to pass a law. Yeah, I’ll let you. But God intervened by causing Esther’s Uncle Mordecai to do something wonderful and special a few years before.
And one night the king wasn’t able to sleep. He had a nightmare. He called O’Haim and then it says, what should we do? He found out that there was a guy that had saved his life. They had never done anything for him. He says, what should we do to a person that the king really wanted to honor? Oh, he said, oh, he thought it was him. He said, oh, I think we ought to honor him and let him ride the favorite horse and through city and everybody all and all that stuff like it.
He says, then let’s do that for Mordecai. Well, Haman hated Mordecai. Anyway, it came down to the queen. She had to go and see the king. And she was afraid to see the king because you didn’t approach the king unless he asked for you to do so, could mean he could tell you. That’s final. She did and she had a sound countenance. He said, what’s wrong? He says there’s a guy named Haman wants to kill all the Jewish people.
And if Haman had succeeded to kill all the Jews, remember the line of the tribe of Judah were in captivity and they would have killed all the seed. It’s amazing how God intervened. Now if he had got his way, they would have killed them all. God allowed Mordecai to do something for the king years before. And God caused him not to be able to sleep that one night. And so he got out the books and began to read the books and just happened by coincidence to see what had happened.
See, God is working behind the scenes too. You see, there’s the devil who wants to destroy you, and there’s a God who is looking after you also, and you’d be surprised how much is won or lost because of your desire to win. And many times we’re the one who quit and give up when we could have won. So many of God’s people have declared defeat right before the victory. when they could have seen God do something wonderful for their life.
But there’s a battle going on, and you need to understand it and believe that. Now, it was stopped by one man, one woman. Take your Bible, I’m looking second chronicles. Second chronicles in chapter 21. Chapter 21. I want you to see this at second chronicles, chapter 21. And you want you to see this in verse three. He says, and their father gave them great gifts of silver. And of gold and of precious things with bent cities and Judah, but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.
He was the firstborn, now get this. Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, slew all of his brothers with the sword and divers also of the princes of Israel. He killed them all so that nobody else would take the throne. So he kills everybody. In verse seven, how be it the Lord would not destroy the house of David because of the covenant that he had made with David. And so you’re an underlinedeth as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons forever.
Well, God had made a promise. And now he didn’t kill everybody but himself. So the line, but lo and behold, it’s not all over till it’s over. Look there in 2 Chronicles chapter 21 and look down in verse 16. In verse 16 says, more over the Lord stirred up against Jehoram, the spirit of the Philistines and the Arabians that were near the Ethiopians, and they came up on the Judah and break into it and carried away all the substance and was found in the King’s house and His sons also and His wives so that there was never a son left.
Oh Save Jehoah has the youngest of his sons He had one left He had a son had one left God took care of all the rest of them, but there was still one left now his name is changed and up in verse one of chapter 22 It’s a haziah but he’s the same person and so he had slain the others and So he says in the last part of verse one so Ahaziah the son of Johorim king of Judah rained and And now it goes on here and talks about these looking verse five He walked also after their counsel and went with your horum the son of ahab king of Israel to war against a ZL King of Syria and blah blah blah blah blah and you’ll find out as you go down through here There’s a mama There’s generally always a mama gets involved
She didn’t like what was being done and she wanted to secure the officer We’re looking in verse 10. And when at the lie, the mother, as I say, saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal seed of the house of Judea, you know what I’m gonna lie to. She destroyed all the royal seed of the house of Judah. I guess it’s all over now. It’s all gone. But they did have one, a son that was called Joash in the next verse.
And they stole him away from among the king’s sons that were slain and put him and his nurse in a bed chamber And so they hid him so that he didn’t get slain all of them but one and He Begin to reign when he got older in chapter 23 and look in verse 3 and all the congregation Made a covenant with the king in the house of God and he said unto them be home the king’s son shall reign So the Lord or as the Lord hath said of the sons of David, it’s going to be one.
But you notice they keep killing them and killing them and killing them, but always one seems to escape. Just one seems to escape. Just ask just a coincidence. That’ll fathom. I believe this is a divine book. I believe there’s a God in heaven that intervenes into the affairs of man. You and I are supposed to believe that, or we wouldn’t be here this morning. You believe that there is a God and that there is a reason for praying because you do believe that there’s a purpose to life.
We have to believe that something is working behind the scenes or there would be no hope for anything. I believe we’re living at some exciting times in this world. I’m glad to be alive. I’m glad to live now. Because if I had lived before, I’d be dead. Second Kings. I want you to look in Second Kings chapter 20. Second Kings in chapter 20. Anybody ever heard of a guy named Hezekiah? Everybody’s heard of Hezekiah. Did you know that Hezekiah really did write a book?
Hezekiah is a real person. And look in verse one. It says, in those days, in those days was Hezekiah sickened to death, and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amos, that came to him and said to him, Thus saith the Lord, sit thine house in order, for thou shalt die and not live. How would you like to have that? Hey, you’re gonna die. Get your house in order. I Got news for y’all if the rapture doesn’t take place in our lifetime yet.
You’re gonna die Get your house in order prepare to meet thy God now Here has a kaya was gonna die, but then has a kaya went on this pity party He said oh God. I don’t want to die If I’m dead, I can’t praise you. I can’t do anything for you Let me live and he prays to live. Well, says I in verse five, turn again and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, the sift the Lord, the God of David, thy father.
I’ve heard thy prayer, seen thy tears, the whole I will heal thee. On the third day, thou shall go up to the house of the Lord, and I will add unto thy days fifteen years. I’m going to let you live another fifteen years. He said, well, give me a sign. Give me a sign. He said, I’ll give you a sign. He says, you want the sun to go forward 10 degrees or backward 10 degrees. He said, I want to go backwards, normal for it to go forward.
So he said, all right, that shall be done. And that happened. So everything is wonderful now. Now, if he had died, he had some sons, but there was a problem. God allowing him to live for 15 years, three years later. He had a son. Three years later, he had a son. Look down here in verse 17. Verse 17 says, Behold, the days come that all that is in thine house, and that which thy father hath laid up in store unto this day shall be carried into Babylon, nothing shall be left saith the Lord and of thy sons, that shall issue from thee which thou shalt beget, shall they take away?
And they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the kings of Babylon.” Do you see a problem in that verse? They shall be eunuchs. Do you see a problem here? It means they cannot have what? They can’t have kids. And these are king sons! This is what’s going to happen to them. Well, the devil sure has taken care of this. The devil does not got another one, and now the fight is on. It’s all over! Ah, not so fast!
