Take a Bible looking second Quran in verse. Second Quran it goes in chapter 21. Chapter 21. I want you to see this at 2 Chronicles chapter 21. And you want you to see this in verse 3. He says, and their father gave them great gifts of silver and of gold and of precious things with bent cities in Judah, but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram because he was the firstborn. He was the firstborn. Now get this. Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, slew all of his brothers with the sword and divers also of the princes of Israel.
He killed them all so that nobody else would take the throne. So he kills everybody. In verse 7, how be it the Lord would not destroy the house of David because of the covenant that he he had made with David. And so you’re an underlying death as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons forever. Well God had made a promise. And now he didn’t kill everybody, but himself. So the line, but lo and behold, it’s not all over till it’s over.
Look there in 2 Chronicles chapter 21 and look down in verse 16. In verse 16 says, more over, the Lord stirred up against Jehoram, the spirit of the Philistines and the Arabians that were near the Ethiopians, and they came up on the Judah and break into it and carried away all the substance and was found in the King’s house and his sons also and his wives, so that there was never a son left. Uh oh, save Jehorahaz, the youngest of his sons.
He had one left. He had a son. had one left. God took him all the rest of them, but there was still one left. Now his name is changed and up in verse 1 of chapter 22 it’s a hazziah, but he’s the same person. And so he had slain the others. And so he says in the last part of verse 1, so Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned. And now it goes on here and talks about these, in verse five.
He walked also after their counsel and went with Johorim, the son of Ahab, king of Israel, to war against Azeel, king of Syria and blah blah blah blah blah. And you’ll find out as you go down through here, there’s a mama. There’s generally always a mama gets involved. She didn’t like what was being done and she wanted to secure the officer. We’re looking in verse 10. And when Atalaya, the mother of Aheziah, saw that Her son was dead. She arose and destroyed all the royal seed of the house of Judea.
You got on the line of she destroyed all the royal seed of the house of Judah. I guess it’s all over now. It’s all gone. But they did have one. A son that was called Joash in the next verse. And they stole him away from among the king’s sons that were slain and put him and his nurse in a bed chamber and so the hid him so that he didn’t get slain. All of them but one. And he began to reign when he got older in chapter 23 and look in verse 3.
And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God and he said unto them, Behold the king’s son shall reign. So the Lord or as the Lord has said of the sons of David, it’s going to be one, but you notice they keep killing them and killing them and killing them, but always one seems to escape. Just one seems to escape. You just ask just a coincidence. That’ll follow. I believe this is a divine book.
I believe there’s a God in heaven. That intervenes into the affairs of man. You and I are supposed to believe that, or we wouldn’t be here this morning. You believe that there is a God and that there is a reason for praying because you do believe that there’s a purpose to life. We have to believe that something is working behind the scenes or there would be no hope for anything. I believe we’re living it some exciting times in this world.
I’m glad to be alive. I’m glad to live now. Because if I had lived before, I’d be dead. Second Kings. I want you to look in Second Kings chapter 20. Second Kings in chapter 20. Anybody ever heard of a guy named Hezekiah? Everybody’s heard of Hezekiah. What did you know that Hezekiah really did write a book? Hezekiah is a real person. I’m looking verse one. It says, in those days, in those days was Hezekiah sick unto death and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amos, that came to him and said to him, thus saith the Lord, sit thine house in order for thou shalt die and not live.
How would you like to have that? Hey, you’re gonna die, get your house in order. I got news for y’all. If the rapture doesn’t take place in our lifetime, yet you’re gonna die. Get your house in order. Prepare to meet thy God. Now, here Hezekiah was gonna die, but then Hezekiah went on this pity party. He said, oh God, I don’t wanna die. If I’m dead, I can’t praise you. I can’t do anything for you. Let me live, and he prays to live.
Well, says I am verse five. Turn again and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, thus saith the Lord, the God of David, thy father. I’ve heard thy prayer, seen thy tears, the whole I will heal thee. On the third day, thou shalt go up to the house of the Lord. And I will add unto thy days 15 years. I’m gonna let you live another 15 years. He said, well, give me a sign, give me a sign. He said, I’ll give you a sign.
He says, you want the sun to go forward 10 degrees or backward 10 degrees. He said, I want to go backwards, normal for it to go forward. So he said, all right, that shall be done. And it happened. So everything is wonderful now. Now, if he had died, he had some sons, but there was a problem. God allowing him to live for 15 years, three years later, he had a son, three years later, he had a son. Well, look down here in verse 17.
Verse 17 says, behold, the days come that all that is in thine house, and that which My Father, hath laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon, nothing shall be left saith the Lord and of thy sons, that shall issue from thee which thou shalt beget, shall they take away. And they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the kings of Babylon.” Do you see a problem in that verse? They shall be eunuchs. Do you see a problem here?
means they cannot have what? They can’t have kids. This is the king’s sons. This is what’s going to happen to them. For the devil sure has taken care of this. The devil does not got another one, and now the fight is on. It’s all over. Ah, not so fast. Not so fast. You know what Hezekiah says in verse 19? Then said Hezekiah under Isaiah, good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. And he says, is it not good if peace and truth be in my days?
In the words, what’s coming down the road? I don’t care. As long as it’s peace in my day. He came out of his sons. They’re long as I got peace. There’s something that’s wrong even in our country. We are looking for the rapture to take place so bad that we don’t care about preserving our country. And we think that as long as we get out of here, it doesn’t matter what our kids and our grandkids are going to have to face.
I’ll say, shame. We still have a responsibility to do what we can with what we have, where we are, and still do what’s right. But anyway, in verse 21 it says, and Hezekiah slept with his fathers And Manasseh, his son, rained in his dead. Now get this and look in verse one of chapter 21. Manasseh was 12 years old when he began to rain and rain 50 and five years in Jerusalem. How old was he? 12 years old. How many years did God give to Hezekiah?
15. If he hadn’t extended his life, there would have been no I’m an Asa. Oh, that’s just a coincidence. You see, what I do, I read between the lines. I get to see more. Then the person who just reads the words, but don’t understand the purpose of what going on. Believe in that there is a war that God has promised. Remember that little poem that I wrote and I sang it to my wife a couple weeks ago? We saw the rainbow through the rain.
We saw the light within the night. It means as you read, you’re keeping the promises of God in your mind as you go through scripture and you’re going to be able to do it. You’ll see things that maybe somebody else don’t see is clearly. And the word of God comes alive. Did you know that if you applied it in your own personal life, you see, you’re going to have problems. You already know that. We live in a sinful world.
But do you see the promises of God through all of that? They keep you going. Or do you think that if life isn’t worth letting, this book is true. It is an awesome book. your Bible and turn to the book of Jeremiah 22. Jeremiah 22. Here we have a serious, serious problem. Jack and I are the king. Wicked king. Bad man. He was so bad that God made a vow. He is not going to have any of his seed.
From this point on, nobody from his seed will ever set upon the throne of Israel. Wait a minute. What about the promise he made to Abraham? What about the covenant he made with David? And even when he talked about Solomon having a son that’s going to be upon the throne, he got to come to the royal line. Look what he says in verse 24, chapter 22. This is too good. As I live saith the Lord, though Kaniya, the son of Jahoechim, King of what?
Judah. Remember now Jesus Christ has to be born of the tribe of Judah. He has to be of the royal line to claim the throne of Israel. This isn’t just a coincidence that these things are put in the scripture. When you read it and you see this and you think, no, wait a minute now. I know this has to happen. How does he get out? How does God get out of this? This is really a mess because he was in the line, he’s the king, but nobody from him can set up on the throne.
Get what he says. We’re the seed on my right hand yet what I plucked the hands. And then he goes down here and says, look in verse 28, is this man, Kaniya, a despised, broken idol? Is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? Wherefore are they cast out He and His seed.” You’re on the line then. And are cast into a land which thou know not? Verse 30, Thus saith the Lord. Right ye this man, what that word? Childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days, for no man of His seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David and ruling any more in Judah.
Now we have been boxed in to a dead end street. No way to get out of this. Ah, but God had a way. You see, God already had it all figured out. Nobody tricks God. Nobody outsmarts God. You can’t do it either. And don’t think you can do whatever you want to do and get away with it. Oh, no, you can’t. If this book is true, and if these stories are true that took 1600 years to write, did you know when this book says there’s a heaven, there might be one.
When this God says there’s a hell, there might be a hell. Did you know that all of this and bringing this one person into the world, through the royal line, and how close it came to being broke over the centuries? That’s a miracle. And here comes Jesus Christ, just like God had promised. That seed that everybody had been waiting for, he showed up. Now, take your Bible and turn to the book of Luke chapter 2. Now, I know it’s not Christmastime, and Jesus has always born Christmastime, but I want to see this because it’s not just a coincidence.
Luke chapter 2, look in verse 1. And it came to pass in those days. Now keep us in mind. It’s been 400 years of silence from the Old Testament, the New Testament. 400 years, not a prophet would speak. Remember America has only been here a little over 200 years. Bigger another 200, 400 years Israel. No prophet. A famine from the Word of God. Nobody preaching it, nobody teaching, nobody warning. Think like God has forgot all about this thing. And they didn’t have a king.
Just like God said. And Israel will be forever without a king. Unless God could find a way. So here in verse one, and it came to pass on those days that they went out to decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. Now at this time, see Israel under the domination of Rome. And they had to go to their own city to be taxed in verse three, verse four. And Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judea, under the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because in Micah chapter five in verse two, when it says, without Bethlehem, Ephrata, they’ll be little among the thousands of beauty and yet out of thee shall he come forth, there to be ruler in Israel, who’s going forth and been from old to everlasting.
The one that’s going to be born, never had to begin, never hasn’t any, He could be born in Bethlehem. Here he is. And he came down here and looked what he says in verse 11. For unto you was born this day in the city of David, a what? A savior which is Christ the Lord. That seed was born. Four hundred years after that was mentioned there in Jeremiah over that. And lo and behold, he shows up. Now how does he get to have the right to be the king of Israel.
And how does he prove the lineage? Well, there was a guy named David who had a son named Solomon that built Solomon’s temple, and that was the line of the king. But he had another son named Nathan, and Nathan was also of the son of David, but he wasn’t of the line of the king. So Mary was born. Mary came through the line of Nathan. Joseph was born. He was born of the line of Solomon. And what did they do?
And they got married. And when they got married and the Holy Spirit hovered over Mary and placed the seed into Mary’s womb, not Joseph, the Holy Spirit, overshadowed her. And Mary has a child. Now the child is of the Lion of David. So he can be born of the Lion of David, But now to be the king, he has to be of the line of Judah through Solomon. So Joseph could not claim the throne because the curse had been put upon the line of Jack and Ia, and that he cannot claim any of his sons could ever be upon the line.
So Israel is forever without a king unless there is a way. And so by Joseph and Mary getting married, the problem is solved because when they got married, Joseph became the legal father of Jesus Christ. And he was in the right line. So the son who did not have the curse of the line upon him has a right to claim the throne. And since Christ, nobody can claim his generation after him. He was cut off out of the land of the living.
And unless Jesus Christ comes back, Israel will forever be without a king. But He is coming back. He’s the only one. And you stop and you think about this conflict down through the ages and how that the devil has tried to… Did you know whenever Herod went in there and to Bethlehem and he was trying to kill all these babies from two years old and under? He was stabbing at one baby. He was stabbing at one baby. Trying to kill all these babies.
It was God that intervenences. Don’t you go by that way. You go down and you take your child and you get down into each of them. And God let him know when he could come back. All these things that worked behind the scene. See, God doesn’t stop the devil from doing all of his work. But God can intervene here and there when he needs to be done. And when you read it and you see it in it’s a beautiful story, when Jesus Christ went to the cross, he took the sins of the world upon himself.
He was the seed that God was talking about that’s going to take and restore everything. Is he because of him when we trust him as our Savior, God gives us a new birth without a sinful nature? And one day this old physical body is going to die. And all I’ll have left is my new birth, the divine nature. I’ll be just like Christ, just like God in my new birth. And there will be a new heavens and a new world in which we’re going to live.
And behold, he says he makeeth all things new. And John says in the book of Revelation, and I, John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And God says, we shall be his people, and he will be our God. I’m so glad that somebody, 49 years ago, explained to me how to have eternal life. Now nobody, nobody can make you believe this story. I know it sounds hard to believe, but it’s all in the book and the proof that it’s been written hundreds and hundreds of years before Christ ever came.
And that’s 2,000 years ago. And Christ did come. We have more proof that Jesus Christ was here than we have that Julius Caesar was here. But look at this one thing. Why did He come? Because there was no other way for man to be saved. Man cannot save himself by his good deeds. So God says that he sent his son Jesus Christ into the world and he was born without a sinful nature because he didn’t have an earthly father.
See, Joseph was not his father, not his real dad. So he didn’t have a sinful nature. It was the Holy Spirit that planted the seed within Mary and Mary was used by God and that’s why Christ says in the book of Hebrew, a body has thou prepared me. That’s what they’ve been waiting for all this time and the devil behind the scene is trying to stop that seed and crush in his head. Satan was defeated at the cross. You and I don’t have to live in defeat.
The devil don’t have to get victory over your life. I don’t have to die and go to hell because Jesus Christ came into the world and he lived a perfect life. He had no sin. He could not be condemned. They could find no fault and he didn’t have to die, but because he loved us, he willingly surrendered and gave himself as a sacrifice for our sins. And all that we have to do to go to heaven, believe he did it for us, God says, you cannot earn eternal life, you cannot work for it, you can’t buy it.
You don’t have to join this church to go to heaven. You don’t have to give any money to go to heaven. You don’t have to change your life to go to heaven. all you have to do and say, only thing you can do is will you believe that he did it for you? When you believe he did it for you, God puts that payment he made to your account and you get to go to heaven on what Christ did.
That’s the best news in all the world. There’s no tricks to it. I can’t make you believe it. But the body I do, I’ll wholeheartedly believe it. Look up here, this hand represents you and me. The wallet represents sin because of sin in the garden. Every person born is born with a sinful nature and that’s why we all sin. And there’s no way for us to ever have any children without them having a sinful nature.
They inherit it from us. And because of that sin, we all sin and we all die. And God says, you can’t save yourself from that. You’re going to die. You’re going to get old. you’re gonna get sick, you’re gonna have problems. But I got some good news. God loves us. This hand represents Jesus Christ. God in the flesh. He came into the world because He loved us and He hates our sin because our sin separates us from God. And God says, see, to go to heaven, you’ve got to be perfect.
And none of us are perfect with all of sin. And God says, you can’t earn your way to heaven. So Christ took the sin, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead, and said, if we would believe that He did it for us, He’d put this payment to our account. We get to go to heaven on what He did. Yes, it took all those centuries. But He came right on schedule, right on time. It says, in the process of time, born of a woman, Christ came into the world, and He made the payment that was 2,000 years ago.
I can’t make you believe that, but I sure hope you do. If you’ll believe that He did it for you, He said He would save you from hell. If you return life and you get to go to heaven on what Christ did for you, you don’t earn it, you don’t work, but you can’t buy it. It’s a gift. It’s totally free. Let’s pray, shall we? Every head bowed and every eye closed, no one looking around. Friend, if you hear this morning, you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior.
I urge you to believe what I’ve just told you, the whole story, the conflict of the ages. And that conflict was one at the cross. You see, you have a personal conflict inside of you. Trying to decide is it true or not true? Is this for real or not for real? And maybe there’s something inside of you that says, you need to believe this. If you don’t believe this, you’ll spend an eternity separated from God in a literal fire burning hell for all eternity.
And it didn’t have to be that way. You may recall the day that you sat here at Calvary Community church and you heard this preach of pleading with you and you said I just can’t believe it. And you may reject it, walk out. You say, well, I don’t want to take and accept it right now. No decision is a decision. Would you trust him? Behold, now is the day of salvation. Now is the accepted time. Would you trust Christ as your Savior?
Would you trust him right now? I’m going to have a prayer in just a moment. But before I do, I’m going to ask you If you will accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, to let me know by raising your hand. If you’ve already trusted Christ as a Savior, you don’t need to do it again. But if you’ve never done it, you’ve heard about it, but you just never did. Would you trust Him as your only hope of going to heaven?
Not your good works, not the preacher, not the church, but will you trust Jesus Christ? Him alone as your only hope of going to heaven. If you will do that, I’d like to have care for you. So I’m going to ask you in your quietness to this moment, if you’ll slip your hand very quickly and put it right back down to that creature, that made sense to me. And I will accept Jesus Christ right now as my Savior and I want you to pray for me.
Would you slip your hand very quickly? Anyone at all? Just slip it up. I’m not going to have you forward. I’m not going to have you embarrassed in any way. I’m not going to point you out. It’s over and done with when you make a decision. You want it all? Our Father, we thank You so much for all that You’ve done for us. We thank forgiven us such a story. And then putting it in your word in such a way, it just weeds it back and forth.
And we can see how miraculous it is, how you’ve intervened over and over again. We thank you for this time together, bless each person for being here. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
