It’s that time where we’re gonna go into the book of Revelation. You got a Bible? I want you to use it or unless you’ve got it committed to memory, but I doubt it. So in the book of Revelation, I looked there in chapter 15, Revelation chapter 15, chapter 15, chapter 16, run together. Chapter 15 is simply an introduction to the seven last plagues that will be poured out up on the earth, the seven bowls of judgment. The word bile is the same as bowl.
And God is given to them the final charge. But as everything is prepared and getting ready to blow these trumpets, remember John saw all of this 2,000 years ago. And if he knew it was going to be that long, I wish he’d have seen a little notes hidden in here some places. It’s going 2000 years y’all. But we don’t have that little note. So we don’t know how long it’s going to be before the Lord comes back. I wished it was today.
I keep thinking how wonderful it’s going to be to be in heaven, or upon the year for a thousand years, and be like the Garden of Eden. Want to be awesome? I mean, and it’s not that far away. The Bible talks about, you know, a death like a sleep, you know, like you go to bed at night and all of a sudden the alarm clock’s going off. You ever hit the alarm clock off and get 10 more minutes of snooze?
You hit it again and get 10 more minutes of snooze. And how many times have you done that? I’ve done a lot of time. I just wasn’t ready to get up yet. But this is something we’re going to be ready to get up for. When we hear the trumpet and all of a sudden we’ll be changing a moment, the twinkling of the night, and caught up to meet the Lord in the air. How wonderful it’s going to be. Now, looking verse one, John has seen many signs and wonders, and he gives us one more.
I was telling a few today that I loved to have seen a few signs and miracles in my life. life. Lord, just do this for me or do this for me, as though that would really strengthen my faith. Lord, if you just give me a sign and I’ve lived long enough to realize that, you know, so far God hasn’t really given me a lot of signs in life. All He did was give me His word and says, there it is.
The Bible says that an evil and adulterate generation seeketh after a sign, but He said that to the Jewish people that were not believing what he had already said and done. And one of the greatest signs of all time was Christ Himself coming into the world. And there He is. He says, I’m greater than the temple. They didn’t care. He says, Solomon, the wisest men in the world. He says, and a greater than Solomon is here. They weren’t impressed.
It didn’t matter what He said about Himself or what He was able to do, they just wouldn’t believe Him. And yet, there stood in front of them the greatest sign of all. Do you recall that in the Old Testament in the book of Isaiah chapter seven verse 14, therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign, a virgin shall conceive and bear, a son shall call his name Emmanuel? I mean, was Jesus Christ himself a sign? I think so.
And this miracle man was able to do a lot of miracles. You could walk on water. I can’t, if it’s frozen. He was able to make the blind to see in the deaf day here in the dumb to speak. Raised the dead. But he says, all these things were going to be done in advance. He says, because you’re hard headed and you’re stiff necked. So God says in Isaiah chapter 48 verse 3 and 4, he says, I’m going to tell you what’s going to happen before it takes place so that when it happens, you know, I told you so.
So we have a lot of wonderful signs that God’s given us in his word. And now here’s John, 90 something years old and God gets to show him all these things. How would you like to be a 90 year old? man and write the book of Revelation. And here he’s had people have studied this book for two thousand years and it’s so deep that everybody hasn’t figured all the stuff out of it yet. And God used John to write all of that.
You know, whenever the disciples were here, at one time John was the youngest. Now he’s the oldest. All the rest of them were gone. But But he was the one that the Bible says that he referred to over and over again is him who Jesus loved, who laid his head upon his brassin. He must have been pretty young, probably teenager. You know, Jesus was a youth worker. He was a ranch director. And these disciples, they were probably the oldest one was Peter, but they had the young guys, challenged them and turned the world upside down in their time.
But anyway, here in verse one he talks about, now the seven angels have these seven plagues and it says, for in them is filled up the wrath of God. In other words, God has had enough and the world is set and God’s going to deliver. He has promised Jerusalem the nation of Israel The Jewish people, a great woman, gonna beat the tar out of them, because they had rejected him and he sent him into all the world, destroyed their temple, destroyed their nation, gave it to the Gentiles.
And now after all these years, they come back to the land. But when they come back to the land, they come back in unbelief. Because God has promised not only to chase in Israel with the Gentile nations of the earth, but then He’s going to turn around and whoop the nations, but what they did to Israel. Pretty good. God has a ways and means committee. He knows what He’s doing. And now it’s culminating toward the end. And then right in the middle of all of this He says, and I looked and I saw this sea of glass.
A sea of glass and I saw these people on it, and they were singing. And it says, they sung the song of Moses. You might not have known it, Moses sung the song, but he did. And the song of the Lamb. So if Moses sung that song, then I believe Jesus sung the other song. The Bible also says in the day of the Last Supper that that night they sung a hymn and then went out. Jesus did sing. I know there’s a time time to question about whether or not did the angels ever sing.
That is an interesting question. Because sometimes there’s a problem about singing certain songs, especially Christmas time, or how the angels sang. Somebody said they didn’t sing. They didn’t sing. Well, not so fast, Charlie. Why don’t you take your Bible in? Look there in verse two, and I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire in them that had gotten the victory over the beast, over his image, and over his mark and over the number of his name stand on the sea of glass having the harps of God.
Now this is either as he looks down through time, a scene that takes place in heaven or takes place out into the kingdom, but it didn’t happen upon the earth. There’s not not this sea of glass here. This is not the perfection here. Because, you see, the beast hasn’t been dealt with yet. He’s going to be. It’s pretty soon. God’s fiction to unload and his fury is going to be felt. But he says in verse 3, And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, God Almighty just and true are thy ways thou king of saints, because this is a victory song.
And the two songs that it mentions here is wonderful. I mean as you read the scriptures, two great events of all time is whenever God took the nation of Israel out of Egypt across the Red Sea and brought him into the Promised Land, and they were boxed in. And the Pharaoh’s Army was coming up behind him, and all Moses had was a machine gun. No, he had a staff. And so with this staff, he’s going to like the enemy.
They were trained army, they were the Pharaoh’s Army. And they were boxed in. The Bible says that God told Moses, said, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. And God’s people walked across on dry ground. Now some people say that it was really the sea of reeds. And it was only about six inches deep. Can you imagine an army drowned in six inches of water? That’s even a big miracle. I can understand them drowning if it was really over their head, but for them all to drown and their horses and totally be covered by six inches of water blows my mind.
I think they better just let it alone and let God’s Word say what it says. Now take your Bible look in the book of Exodus in chapter 15. Exodus and chapter 15, way over there in the Old Testament, I’ve covered these scriptures many times, but especially chapter 13, 14 and 15 to kind of go together. But in chapter 15, the book of Exodus, and look there in verse 1, then saying Moses and the children of Israel, this song unto the Lord, because why?
Because they had just crossed the rich. They just had a big miracle. God had done a wonderful thing for them. There was victory. Enemy was defeated. And that’s why it says in the book of Revelation chapter 15 that they sung this song of Moses. And there was a victory song because there was like a victory march. There’s something that they needed to see and there’s a song they needed to sing. You see we sing songs. Songs are wonderful. I love singing.
I don’t worry about whether it sounds good or not. It’s just that I love to sing. And some people sing in the shower and some they just need more showers. Well anyway, but you want to sing and love to sing, but you got to be careful what to sing about. Now there’s two things that they always son about and one was praise and the one was glory. So it was to praise the Lord in order to give Him glory.
God gets glory out of the praise and the praise is the singing. So God wants us to sing praises to him. And he’s glorified in that. And that’s sweet, beautiful music to the Lord. So look what he says. He says, saying, I was sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea, six inches of water. No, then look in verse three. The Lord is a man of war. The Lord is his name.
in all capitals means it’s a reference toward Jehovah, God himself. And he says they’re in verse 4, Pharaoh’s chariots and his hoes have he cast into the seed. His chosen captains also are drowned in six inches of water. You see how ridiculous that is whenever you start putting all that into it because that’s what they say. Let me tell you what God said. God says they drowned in the Red Sea. Get this in verse 5, the debts have covered them.
Hmm. Well, that’s because they were all laying down. No, it says, and they sank into the bottom as a stone. It means they weren’t touching the bottom when the waters covered them. I don’t know how come people can’t see that. It’s right there. Then look down in verse 10, Thou disblow with thy wind, the sea covered them. They sink as a lid in the mighty waters. Mighty waters. So all this is down through here and it talks about what God did, the honor that belongs to the Lord, and they sung this 15th chapter here over to verse 21.
They sung this, this was a song, the song of Moses. Look there in verse 19. For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariot and with his horsemen into the sea. And the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them, but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. And verse 21 then Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously. This is a victory song. And this amazing in the 15th chapter is talking about the victory song that was sung by Moses.
I think it’s awesome. Now he also referred to the song of the Lamb. So take your Bible and turn to the book of Psalms 22, the 22nd Psalm. Now, you know that the 22nd Psalm deals with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It tells you how he thought his feelings, his emotions, what he was going through in the crucifixion. So you have in chapter 22, it deals with Mount Calvary and chapter 24, it deals with Mount Zion. One is where he dies and the other one is where he rules.
And what usually lies between two mountains of valley. So the Psalms 23 is the aid though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. So you have the valley and you and I when we have communion, we are always supposed to while we’re in the shadow of death. look back to Mount Calvary and forward to Mount Zion. So that’s what we’re supposed to be doing. But in the 22nd chapter, as he goes through it and he lists the things that are happening, how he thinks and how he feels, you’ll notice it, he’s crying out to the Lord.
My God, my God, why hast I forsaken me? And goes on down through and tells all the things that they had done to him. And then look what he says in verse 22. Verse 22, I believe is a song. I believe that it was something that he sang, and I’ll show you why in just a minute. In verse 22 he says, I will declare thy name unto my brethren in the midst of the congregation, will I praise thee? Now the word praise thee, I want you to underline that or circle it.
And then when you see there in verse 23, ye that fear the Lord praise him, all ye the seed of Jacob, and there’s that word glorify him. So the word praise and glorify also mentioned here. It was mentioned over there in Exodus. Now it’s talking about the Son of God saying pretty much the same thing. Where you see the word there called congregation. These verses are quoted in the New Testament and there the Holy Spirit guided them to use the words that deals with the situation.
It’s a victory song. Here you have Christ going down in death but singing victoriously because He knows what’s going to happen because of the payment that he made. And so the Bible tells us that nobody can save his own soul. See the last part of verse 29? None can save his own soul. Up there in verse 26 when he talks about your heart shall live forever. Let’s talk about you can have eternal life because of the payment Christ made on the cross for you.
And in verse 31 where he says, there they shall come and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born.” Well, isn’t that what we are doing today with declaring his righteousness? I used to think, you know, how many years I’ve worked with teenagers and realize that I will say myself, 15 years from now I’m going to have a youth group of people who at this moment don’t exist because kids are being born and 15 years later I’m going to be ministering to people that at this moment don’t exist.
Now I’ve been around for a while, but they’re just being born. And in a few years from now, they’ll be old enough to come to the Son’s School, they’ll be old enough to come to Wanna, they’ll be old enough to come to the ranch, or be old enough to go to camp. So we’ll have a ministry of people that right now don’t exist. Isn’t that mind bawgou? But it says, we’re going to declare that He hath done this, and He hath done this.
Now take your Bible and turn over there to the book of Hebrews and chapter 2. Hebrews and chapter 2. Hebrews chapter 2 has a wonderful portion of the scripture here that gives a lot of insight. The whole book of Hebrews does, but here’s something special. Look in verse 9. He says, but we see Jesus who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
So this is what Jesus Christ came into the world for. That’s why he was made as the Son of Man, a little lower than the angels so that he could die. And that he tasted death for every man, and then it says in verse 10, for it became him not for whom are all things and by whom we’re all thing and get this. Now you ought to underline this part of the verse and bringing many sons unto glory. In other words, why did he taste death for every man so that he could bring many sons into glory into perfection so that you and I could be made perfect, have eternal life and get to go to be with the Lord in heaven.
And then he became the author of eternal salvation and made the captain of our salvation perfect through suffering so that we have someone who knows what we have gone through. Christ lived in this world. He knows what rejection is about. He knows what it’s like to be poor. He knows what it’s like to have people call them a hypocrite, lie about them, slander them. You name it and they accused him of it. And they even said that we know who your mother and father are.
I mean we know about you. We’re not born a fornication like you. He went to all kinds of stuff and he endured all all of the shame for the joy that was set before him. In other words, he knew what this would accomplish and it was worth it all. He was looking down the road and he way down the road 2,000 years. And lo and behold, there was an 18 year old boy named Yankee Yarn on God said, I’m doing this for that kid.
Now I don’t know about y’all, he probably didn’t even see y’all. Y’all just got in on a friend’s stuff. Just joking. But look what he says now in verse 11. For both he that sanctifyeth and they who are sanctified are one. Get this now, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren. I am a child of God because he has made me perfect. He has saved me. He justified me. So he’s not ashamed of me in that sense.
Now the Bible says if we do not serve him, we can bring shame to him. Now get what else he says here. In verse 12, saying, now this is a quote from the Old Testament, I will declare thy name unto my brother. Now this is the verses that we read just a moment ago in the 22nd Psalm in verse 22. I will declare thy name unto my brother in the midst of the, in the Old Testament, it’s a congregation.
Here it’s church. Will I and what’s that word? Well, I sing praises unto thee. Now, when you read the Old Testament, you might not have seen that, and I might not have seen that, but I’m supposed to believe that he’s gonna sing. He’s sung. So I believe that, yes, Jesus Christ did sing, and I have no problems with that, because he’s talking about here, and you see it, talks about the praise and talking about the glorifying. So when we praise the Lord, That’s music to his ears.
Remember whenever he went into Jerusalem and they were putting on the pomblies and so forth in the front of them? And they were crying out, you know, Hosanna and so forth, king of the highest. And he said, you shouldn’t say that. And Jesus says, if you forbid them to speak, he said, these stones can cry out. So if stones can speak, it might even be possible for an angel to sing. I don’t see no problem with it. It doesn’t bother me one way or the other.
But let me just show you that. Look out in the book of Luke in chapter two. The book of Luke and chapter two. Luke chapter two is what we know as the genealogy concerning Jesus Christ and how he was born by Dr. Luke who tells us a little bit more about some of these things and some of the other books do. But it talks about here on angel appeared. see there in verse nine and lo the angel of the Lord came upon them.
The glory of the Lord shone round about them and they were so afraid. And the angel said unto them, fear you not, for behold I bring you good titans a great joy which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord. This shall be a sign unto you shall find the babe wrapped in swelling clothes lying in a manger and suddenly get this. Suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God.
Now from the Old Testament of Exodus chapter 15 praising God was singing. In Psalms 22 praising God was singing. Is it possible that when you get all these angels all together in unison and they all said verse 14, glory to God in the highest. And on earth peace, good will toward men. Do you think it might be possible that the angels could have sung? I don’t see no problem with it. I don’t doubt it one bit. I believe that they can talk, they can sing.
And I believe God loves music. And I believe God wants everybody to sing. Everything that hath a voice. Let them sing. And I believe one day in eternity everybody will be praising the Lord and singing and because of the victory that we have. You see, there was a great problem and God worked a great miracle. And Israel came out of Egypt. Cross the Red Sea, kicked up dust on the dry ground as they went across. And then God flooded that place and they were all drowned.
And so they sing a victory song. When you talk about Christ and what happened, He says, and I will sing. I believe He’ll sing. And He went out that night and He sung a hymn. Now just one little verse of look at, look there in the book of Job chapter 38. Job, Chapter 38, Job, Chapter 38, the time had come when Job had asked the Lord over and over again. Lord, answer me. Why am I suffering like this? See, Job could not put his finger upon the reason why he was suffering.
It had nothing to do with what Job had done. God wanted to see Job, how far he had to go. If you ever reached a place in your life where you think, I don’t learn all I need to know now. I mean, I have, I’ve graduated. I’m as smart as I need to be. I can coast from here on in Lord. I don’t need any more testing. No more lessons. Just give me an A and let’s just call it even.
Okay? You’re going to be tested for how long? As long as you draw breath in this life. Your schooling is not over. the lessons have not been learned. God still has a few things that He can teach us. Job wasn’t out of school yet. God was going to teach him some mighty lessons. Of course, in the teaching Him, we’re learning from Him. But He kept saying, I want an appointment with God. I want to talk with Him and get this thing settled because you see His friends, all telling them the reason you’re suffering, Joby, is because you’ve got sin in your life.
If you would only serve the Lord, then God would bless you. And we know, and everybody knows, the reason you’re having all these problems is because you’re not right with God. He says, that isn’t true. He says, I am right with God. It’s not because they’re sin in my life. And so he argued with his three friends. Everybody needs a few friends like that. I told you one time I said, those three friends that he had, they got married and had kids.
A whole bunch of them around today. Some of them even come to church. And in time something happens to you, they know why it happened. It’s because they’re sin in your life. You know, if you were holy and godly, that wouldn’t happen to you. Everyone would just give them a knuckle sandwich in Christian love, of course.
