We pray that you will enjoy our commitment to the clear gospel of Jesus Christ and that today’s first part of this two-part message will be a blessing to you and your family. But long time ago a guy wrote a book called Rain of the Servant Kings. Anybody ever heard that book? It’s strong on grace, strong on eternal security. But he took a phrase that I’ve read many times and never thought too much about it. And he kept saying that doing the kingdom, this phrase refers to them.
But it’s a phrase about weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. You ever heard that in the Bible? Weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. And you think, well, what does that mean? That really must be bad. Well it is bad. But some believe that this is the Christians going to be in such anguish and because of not serving the Lord that is going to bring such weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth and then it refers to believers.
Well, I’ve read the whole book and I’ve read the Scriptures and I can’t totally subscribe to that viewpoint. So I want to show you those verses and see what you think. Don’t that sound fair? All right, let’s take Matthew chapter 8, Matthew chapter 8. Now this is a portion of scripture where the Lord is going to deal with a Gentile. He’s not Jewish, it’s a Gentile. So he says you’re in verse 5, looking in verse 5. And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion beseeching him him and say, Lord, my servant, lie at that home, sick of the palsy, grievously tormented, and Jesus said unto him, I will come and heal him.
Now Jesus tells him I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou should have come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. Is that faith or that not faith? That’s faith. He said, oh, you don’t have to come. Oh, you can just say the word. Just speak the word. And it says here in verse nine, for I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me.
And I say to this man, go and he goeth. To another come and he cometh. And to my servants, do this and do this. And he doeth it. So he says, all I do is because I’m a man under authority, but I have authority. And when I tell them to do something, they do it. And verse 10, when Jesus heard it, he marveled, said unto them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith.
No, not in Israel. Now, buddy, isn’t that something? He hadn’t heard it from anybody in Israel, but he heard it from a Gentile, a Roman soldier. And the Lord said, I will come. And He says, you don’t have to. You are authority. Just speak the word. He believed that if He just gave His word, it would be done. Because He says, I’m a man who has authority. And when I tell someone to do something, they do it. So he believed that he had the authority and he didn’t have to show up.
The Lord is impressed. I have to admit this is not many times that you find that the Lord Jesus Christ is impressed with anybody. So he says here in verse 11, and I say unto you that many shall come from the east and the west shall sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. Now we believe that the kingdom of heaven is that period of time upon the earth that’s a thousand years long, which follows right after the thousand year of the tribulation period.
And Christ will be here Himself and we will rule and reign with Christ. But I believe He’s showing something here about the Jews and the Gentiles. And He says there in verse 11, and I say unto you that many, and I believe that’s a reference to the Gentiles, shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Those are Jews in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom, and Lord the Jews that it belongs to, the one that is designed for, the one that’s been promised to Israel for all these years, they won’t be able to go in, and it says, but the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
So that phrase to me does not seem to align itself with the theory that these are Christians being kicked out of the kingdom. I don’t believe that they have the right or the authority to be in the kingdom. Now some people say that, well, when we trust the Lord and now when we come back down, if we have not served the Lord, we might not be able to get into the kingdom because there’s only for those who have earned the right to go into the kingdom.
You know, well done, thou good in faithful service. Enter thou unto the joy of the Lord, and the joy of the Lord is the kingdom upon the earth. So if you haven’t been faithful, you don’t have that right, and you can’t enter into the kingdom upon the earth. But a verse that bothered me is found there in the book of 1 Thessalonians in chapter four, when it makes a statement, when Christ comes back for us, It says, and then shall we ever be with the Lord.
Now, it’s hard for me to understand how I could forever now be with the Lord if He’s in the kingdom ruling and I’m kicked out. Now something doesn’t line up with that for me. I thought He would never leave me and never forsake me, regardless of whatever I do. He won’t leave me and He will not forsake me. Because that’s the promise that He made. So I believe that when the rapture takes place, if the rapture took place today, I believe that everyone who has trusted Jesus Christ as their savior will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.
Ready or not, here I come. And it doesn’t matter if you are obedient or disobedient, if you have trusted the Lord and you’re a God’s child, wouldn’t it be great if all of God’s children serve the Lord? Well yes, wouldn’t it be great if they’re all looking for the Lord to come back? Well yes, but they’re not. But still be saved because they believe that Christ died and paid for their sins. So if I believe Christ paid for all of my sins, then the payment He made’s put to my account, and I don’t have any sins to pay for.
You say, but look at all those bad things you’ve done. I know. But He paid for it. Now either He did or He didn’t. Now if He paid for my sin, there’s no sense both of us paying for it. I used to have a little slogan that I used to put out because if God never slumbers and sleeps, there’s no sense both of us staying awake at night worrying about something. Since the Lord’s going to be awake anyway, we wouldn’t let Him think about it.
Kind of like this one guy, he says, you know, he was always walking around with his head hung low, just always down, just always discouraged, so in despair, never happy, no smile. And about a month later, this guy saw him walking down the street and he had his head high, his shoulders back at a spring in his step. He was singing a song. He said, what happened to you? He says, I found me a worrying company. He says, what?
I found me a worrying company. If I paid him $1,000 a month, they’ll take and worry for me and I don’t have any worries now. He said, that’s pretty good. That’s pretty good. He says, where are you going to get $1,000? He says, that’s their first worry. But you’ve got to have somebody worry for you. So if Christ is who He claims to be, and He is the Lord, then let Him take care of some of these things. So I believe Christ is going to come back and we’re going to be caught up to meet the Lord in the ear.
And everyone who is not. Serving the Lord still goes with the Lord. And he says that he’ll never leave us, never forsake us. He said and comfort one another with these words. Hello, I’m glad to have you here. While I go to the kingdom, I’m going to cast you into our darkness where you’re going to have weeping and wailing and gnashing a T for a thousand years. Does that sound like heaven? or it sounded like a punishment because I’ve been bad.
Now I know that we’re going to have the loss of rewards of what we could have had, but I believe that if you serve the Lord, God’s going to reward you, but if you don’t serve the Lord, you still get to heaven, but you don’t get rewarded. And you may not rule and reign with the Lord, but you will be here. And so I had a problem with some of that because there’s a lot of people who are teaching things.
I don’t believe is scriptly correct. I’ll take your Bible and turn there to the book of Matthew chapter 13. Matthew and chapter 13. Matthew 13. And look what he says in verse 36. It’s a parable, but a parable is a way for the Lord to tell the truth to those who want to know truth and that those that didn’t want to know the truth wouldn’t understand it. So he can tell a story, but they heard the story, but they can’t tell what the purpose of the story is.
They can’t understand things. So anyway, he says here in verse 30, then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. His disciples came to him saying, declare unto us the parable of the tears of the field. He answered in his sedent of them, he that soeth, the good seed is the Son of man. The field is the world. The good seed are the children of the kingdom, but the pears are the children of the wicked one. The enemy that sowed them is the devil.
The harvest is the end of the world and the reapers are the angels. So he gives an interpretation of what the parable means. In verse 40, as, therefore the pears are gathered and burned in the fire. Who shall it be in the end of this world or end of this age? The Son of Man shall sin forth His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend and them which do iniquity. And shall cast them into a furnace of fire, there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
Now what I think that that phrase should refer to Christians who are not living for the Lord. They’re going to be put into a furnace of fire and they’ll be weeping and wailing the nation of teeth. I don’t think so. So I think there’s got to be another reason for this phrase and I don’t believe it’s to believers. If it’s not believers, then it must be unbelievers. There’s only two kinds of people in the world. that believe in those that don’t, the saints and the aunts, those that believe in those that don’t believe, the have and they have nots.
I’m glad that I have eternal life and that I’m going to heaven whenever I die. And so he says here in verse 43, then shall the righteous shine forth as the Son in the kingdom of their Father, who hath ears to hear, let him here. It’s not written to the church. This is not to the church age. I believe this is written to those that are be here during the kingdom upon the earth, mainly to the nation of Israel.
And so there will be Gentiles here, but the message is mainly to the Jewish people. And he says that he’s going to take out of the kingdom, anything that defiles or that’s wicked. So look there in Matthew chapter 13 and look now in verse 49. Verse 49, so shall it be at the end of the age or the end of the world. The angels shall come forth and sever the wicked from among the just. Now remember just like Lot was in Sodom and Gomorrah.
The Bible says that this just man vexed his righteous soul from day under day with their unlawful deeds. Though he wasn’t where he was supposed to be, he was living like he was not supposed to be, but he still was a just man, and that he was a believer in the Lord, and believe what God had said. He just didn’t practice it very well, and so he made some wrong decisions in his life. But God says he was a just man.
Now, I am a just man. It means that I have been tried in the court of law. I have been found guilty, but somebody else paid my debt. And his death payment was the payment that I need. And so it was accredited to my account. And I have been declared righteous, justified. Just as if I had never sinned. So I am a just individual, not because I live such a good, justly life. I should, but I’m going to have a not because of what I’ve done.
It’s because of what Christ did for me. He paid for what I did wrong. And if everybody would best be honest, they know they do things wrong. Everybody ought to know that you don’t live a perfect life. And if you had to live a perfect life, well, then do it. Have you found anybody yet doing it? You can’t even think a pure life. I bet you wouldn’t take much to make y’all angry and mean and mad and ugly and unkind and feel with envy and jealousy and bitterness.
Now those are not like going out and murdering somebody. Robin a bank, but aren’t those still sins? And just as bad, God says not one sin can enter into heaven, not even a lie, none. Because if he did, then heaven wouldn’t be heaven. And if they’re sinned there, they’ll have to be death there. And when there’s death there, they can’t be eternal life. Sinned and laid, we’re all dead. So that’s not the way it’s going to be. So you notice what he says here.
When he makes a statement in the last part of verse 49, you ought to underline them, sever the wicked from the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire. So who is cast into the furnace of fire? The wicked. the just, the wicked. There shall be wailing and the nation of thieves.” So maybe that phrase refers to lost people. It looks like it would refer to them more than it would refer to a godly individual, a person who trusts the Lord, but he doesn’t serve the Lord.
And so he’s kicked out of the kingdom. He can’t go into the kingdom. But he’s, he’s saved. I don’t think I can by that totally is something’s wrong, something’s missing with that. And look what he says here in verse 51. He said, and Jesus said to them, have you understood all these things? And they said unto him, yea, Lord, they were lying. Because later on it says they didn’t understand. They didn’t understand probably 90% of what he taught. Because he even told them that he was going to die on the cross and that he was going to be buried for three days and come back again.
And they didn’t believe that. had problems. In verse 52, and then said he unto them, therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that is a householder, which bring the forth out of his treasure things new and old. There’s new truths and there’s old truths. But to know the truth and Christ is teaching them things that they already knew and plus things they did not know. So take your Bible now and turn to the book of Matthew chapter 22.
Matthew and chapter 22. There’s a little story that’s given here. We’ll cover it fairly quickly. But look there in verse 1. Matthew 22 verse 1. Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables and He said, the kingdom of heaven. That’s at thousand year reign upon the earth. It’s like unto a certain king which made a marriage for his son. Sent forth his servants to call them that were biden to the wedding and they would not come. Again he sent forth the other servants saying, tell them which are biden, behold I have prepared my dinner, my my oxen and my felons are killed and all things are ready, come unto the marriage.”
Now how would you like to have your own, hey my son’s getting married, I want everybody to show up. Hey nobody’s coming, nobody wants to come. Like having a party nobody show up. That’s why I stopped having pity parties, nobody would come. But verse 5, but they made light of it and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise and the remnant took his servants and entreated them spitefully and slew them. All he was doing was asking them to come to a wedding, food, and so what do they do to the messenger?
They didn’t like the message, so they killed the messenger. Don’t that make sense? In verse 5, but when the king heard thereof he was rough and he sent forth his armies, destroyed those murders, burned up their cities, then said he to his servants. The wedding is ready, but they which were biden were not worthy. They wouldn’t come. Go ye therefore into the highways in as many as ye shall find bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together.
gather all as many as they found, but bad and good. And the servants, or the wedding, was furnished with guest. When the king came in to see the guest he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment. And he said unto him, Friend, how came thou in hither not wearing a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Alright, now let me just kind of take this. This is a story now. It’s a story it says, so right there.
And he says that it was a parable. So not everything in here is something that you can say, this means this means this means this means this means it. No, it’s a story to illustrate a truth. So the point is to understand that Christ has his people out and we sow seed, the seed of the word of God. And we tell them that Jesus is coming or you’re going to die and where are you gonna spend eternity? So we want people to trust the Lord so we sow the seed.
Well, we know there’s a time coming when Christ is gonna come take us out of here. And sooner or later everybody’s gonna die. But there’s gonna be a wedding. You see, when we get to heaven, God says that we’re gonna be dressed in the righteous acts of the saints. It means that you’re gonna be rewarded for what you’ve done for the Lord. And so I may have a little beady crown and James may have a great big crown And Al may have a star in his crown, and Roger may have a whole bunch of stars in his crown.
So you never know who’s gonna get what? Because it’s between you and the Lord. The Lord knows all of his children and what you’ve done. He keeps the books. Remember, getting to heaven, that’s free. You don’t serve the Lord to go to heaven. That’s a gift. Once you trust Christ to save you, don’t you God’s child. Now there should be reasons or motives of why should I live right? Because my heavenly Father said he would bless my life here, reward me there.
So we’re gonna get rewarded and then we’re gonna go to the, the marriage supper of the lamb. This is gonna be a wedding. And everybody that goes to the wedding has to have on the right wedding dress. Well, the robe is according to Isaiah 61. It’s the robe of righteousness. Everybody must be dressed in the robe of righteousness, or you can’t get in, it’s improper. Or remember, there’s a story in the Bible about somebody who stands at the door and knocked.
And I said, Lord, Lord, have we not preached in your name? Cast out devils in your name, done many wonderful works in your name and all that. And he says, I’m sorry, I don’t even know who you are. Depart from me, you eat that work iniquity. Why couldn’t they come in? They didn’t have on the right robe. And the robe is the robe of righteousness that God gives to everyone. See, I can’t go to heaven because I’m a sinner.
I’m a filthy sinner. I don’t deserve to go to heaven. But Christ died for my sins and He said, if I would believe He did it for me, He would give me His robe of righteousness. Now, if He gave me His robe of righteousness, I got the proper attire to get into heaven. I’m going in on his righteousness. No man gets to heaven because of his goodness. Do you have to go to church to go to heaven? No. Do you have to give money to go to heaven?
No. All we have to do is accept the payment Christ made for us and he gives us as a free gift ever lasting life. Now look what he says there in <= 12. And he said unto him, friend, how came a star in here that not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. You ought to underline that word speechless. like what can the man say? Let’s say for example, all the people who reject Christ and they stand at the great white throne judgment.
And God says you must be perfect to go to heaven. What man is gonna be able to stand up and says, I qualify, I’m perfect. They will be speechless. There’s not a word they can say in their defense. They have no evidence to prove They have earned the right to get into heaven, none whatsoever. And so he says in verse 13, Then said the king to the servant, bind him hand and foot, take him away, cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The same phrase that you find it all over again. And I believe that the wedding takes place right before the kingdom upon the earth. Now whether he has it here, whether he comes down here and he has it, I really don’t care. I just know there’s going to be one and I’m it. I’m going to be the bride. Next time I get married now, I’ll be the bride. Now, take your Bible and turn to the book of Matthew 24.
Matthew, chapter 24. Now in Matthew chapter 24, he is talking to them about the time that he’s going to come back to the earth. He is going to come back. He came the first time just like he said. said. So we have a record of it. Prophecy was written in advance so that we know Christ came just like He said He would. So we don’t have to ever doubt that. He was literally really here. There’s more history that Jesus Christ was here and the evidence that Christ was here probably than Hitler.
But here in Matthew in chapter 24, I want you to see down here in verse 51, and shall cut him his asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrite, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” You find that phrase mentioned again. But if you go back and you read it and you try to figure out now what is he really talking about? I don’t believe that it’s necessarily referring to a believer who is unfaithful servant. And because he was just It’s unfaithful.
This is what happens. He gets to go to hell. Or a Christian going to be punished for a thousand years for not serving the Lord. That’s like having to pay for your sins. That’s been punished for your sins. I just, I can’t see that. Don’t believe that’s what it means. But look what he says up here. He said, I’m coming back in verse 43, but know this. that if the good man of the house had known and what watched the thief would come, he would not have suffered his house and so forth to be broken up.
Therefore, be also ready for in such an hour as you think not the son of man coming. So he’s not telling us exactly when all this is going to take place, just be ready. What’s the point? Be ready. And We have been seeking to be ready at any given time, but this is mainly to the nation of Israel adoring the tribulation period. And they should know that with all the things and signs that God gives, they should be able to figure it out.
Because he says, when you shall see these things, all these things, they know that it is at the doors. and they will see the Antichrist sitting in the holy place. And they’re gonna see all the things that are happening in the last three and a half years of the tribulation period. So when they see all of these things, that generation shall not pass away until all these things be fulfilled. They will see it, they will know, they will have an understanding.
But if they’re looking, but most people are not looking, they are not prepared. So this is not talking here about the rapture. This is talking about when Christ comes to the earth upon the earth.
