Have you ever wondered whenever you die, what you gonna be? Now you think you gotta figure it out. Yeah, you’ll be present with the Lord. Well, I’m not sure about all of you, but you know. Well, was I a man because I was born of man? Well, when I’m born of God, does that make me God? If God is God and he is my father and I’m his son and a son of God, so that makes me a God.
Say, oh boy, well, Isn’t that an interesting question? So God is my Father and I have a perfect birth. I am born of God. So if God is God, then I am a little God. Are you a little God? So whenever you leave here, you’re going to be a little God. All of us are gods. You know there’s a religion that teaches a little bit of that. Mormonism. I don’t buy it. But I do want to mess up your mind tonight.
I mean, I’ll list a little bit. I want you to put on your thinking cap and kind of travel with me just a tad. So take your Bible and turn to the Gospel of John, the Gospel of John, John chapter 10. Now we know there’s some interesting verses that we really love and we use them all the time, But most times people stop reading because they don’t know what to do with the verses that follow it. Well, guess what we’re going to do tonight?
We’re going to look at those verses. So here in John chapter 10, this is on page 11, 29. It says here in verse 28, And I give unto them eternal life. They shall never perish. Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. when I trusted Christ as my Savior, the Lord says, I will never perish. Nobody can never pluck me out of his hand. I have eternal life.” Well, that’s good news. And then he says in verse 1, and my Father, which gave them me, is greater than all.
And no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, many good works have I showed you from my father. For which of those works do you stone me? In the words, he’s only done good work. So which of those good works are you going to stone me for? He had told them at one time, he says, who convinces me of sin?
I mean, what sin have you ever seen me commit? You know, they couldn’t prove anything against him. They could find no witnesses. They could tell the truth. They saw Him sin. He was perfect in every way. He saw what He says in verse 33, the Jews answered Him saying, for a good work we stoned the not, but for blasphemy. And because that thou been a man, make us thyself God, you’re claiming to be God. You know, they must have understood what He claimed to be.
They must have understood that he must have said something that caused him to think he was claiming to be God. Can you believe that? He’s just a man. He’s claiming to be God. Well… But look what he says is very interesting. He says here in verse 34, Jesus answered them, is it not written in your law? I said, God’s if he called him gods, under whom the word of God came and the Scripture cannot be broken. Say ye of Him whom the Father have sanctified, sent into the world, thou blasphemous, because I said I’m the Son of God.”
So if He claims to be the Son of God and they took that to mean, you’re claiming to be God and you’re just a man. Are you a Son of God? Are you a Son of God? Now you’re scared to death to say that. So if you are Son of God, are you a little God? And God has given birth to a God. And you are a little God now. Ooh, doggy. Have you ever thought you’d bid off more than you can chew?
You ever done that? Say something I shouldn’t have said that. You ever gone down a road and you, I shouldn’t have gone down this road. Sometimes I feel like that. Like now. There’s a lot of roads in the Word of God, and I had to choose this road to go down. So he makes a statement here in verse 36, Say ye of him whom the Father hath sain’t to fied, sent into the world, thou blasphemous, because I said I’m the Son of God.
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works that ye may know, and believe that the Father is in me and I in Him.” Well, he claims to be God. And then he uses a no testament scripture that says, hey, it’s written in you Word. The whom the word of the Lord came, ye are gods. You see, that’s not written in the Bible. Psalms 82, let’s go back there and check this out.
There’s got to be a reasonable explanation to all of this. Psalms 82. And look down in verse 6, I have said, ye are gods, and all of your children of the most high. Uh-oh. So now you trust that Christ is your Savior, you’re a child of God, born into God’s God’s family and ye are gods. But you know automatically something don’t ring true to this. You just can’t believe that. There’s got to be something wrong. But look there in verse 1, God standeth in the congregation of the mighty.
He judges among the gods. But now understand, the gods were the judges. They were the judges. representatives that held court and made decisions based upon what the Word of God said. That’s all. It wasn’t all the people. It was the judges that God had set up in court and He talked to those people that were supposed to render what the Word of God says. They were to know the Word of God and make righteous decrees and so forth. So He says in verse 2, How long will you judge unjustly?
There are people who are supposed to represent God as they rule in the affairs of men, and they were to make righteous decrees. Do write, but there are some of God’s people that did not do so. And so he says here, how long will you judge unjustly and accept the persons of the wicked? defend the poor and the fatherless do justice to the afflicted in the needy. Deliver the poor and the needy rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
They know not neither will they understand. They walk on in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are out of the course. And he says, I made you judges. I put you in place of leadership. And you’re supposed to make righteous decrees as though you’re doing it in my place. And that’s as far as that goes. But it doesn’t know the fact that Jesus, when He came into the world, He was a judge. True. So He can do it and not violate the Scriptures, but He knew what they were talking about and so do we.
I want you to take your Bible and turn there to the book of Genesis in chapter 2. Genesis and chapter 2. You say you still have an answer to the question. Well, I’m not through yet yet. Genesis and chapter 2. I just want you to look at a word with me because remember that in the beginning when God made a man, a man. In verse 7, in the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and the breath of life.
And you’re to underline that word man. became a living soul. God created us as a man. We are a human. We are a man. And we’re not a God. We are a man. We are human. We have a physical body made of the dirt of this ground and we have limitations. There’s things that we cannot know. We cannot do. We cannot accomplish. We are simply well, and I don’t think that’s in the backyard here because… Genesis chapter 1 just turned back just a little bit.
But you’ll notice that the Bible says that he has made us in his image. He’s here in verse 26. Genesis chapter 1… igraph let us, that means there’s more than one up there in the Godhead. And usually the word Elohim is plural or more, but He says, and God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the face of the sea and so forth. So when God made man, let’s say if man had never developed a sinful nature, They would still be alive today and live forever, and it still be just a man, that just a man.
A man that was created by God. And so when God made him in verse 27, and so God created man in his own image. So you see, you can be made in the image of God, but still be a man. The reason that’s important because of 1 Corinthians in chapter 15, when it says, we were made Our new birth will be in the image of God. But we’ll be, I believe like the man God intended us to be, but we’ll have a perfect glorified body.
But we’ll still be a man. I’ll be a man. I am a man. I will always be a man. Now, when we get to heaven, you say, what about the woman? I don’t know, don’t get into that. You can’t figure them out here. You’re not gonna figure them out there. All I know is that God says, I am a man and a woman was also made and what she’s going to look like. I don’t even know what will look like, but we’ll just be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Look there in John, a verse that I wanted you to see because you can go through here and you can see the word man meant in all other places. So it was a man that God created. God created this man. Take your Bible now and turn to the book of Hebrews in chapter 10. Hebrews in chapter 10. And you’ll notice there’s a little verse there that kind of gives you an idea because the truth of the matter is, when Jesus Christ came into the world, he didn’t come into the world as an animal, he came as a man, as a man.
So in Hebrews in chapter 10, I want you to see this verse, but he says, a body has not prepared me in Hebrews chapter 10. See there in verse 5, wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith sacrifice and offerings thou would if not but a body has now prepared me. This is one of the things that makes us a man. We live in a physical literal body and I can only be in one place at a time.
And so when Christ came into the world he became a man. He was born in the world and he had a physical body and in that physical body he had limitations and he could only be in one place at one time. Now, that’s why he says all the miracles and things that he did, he did it by the power of the Holy Spirit, he limited himself. There’s things that he did not do as a man. But as a man and a perfect Son of God, he was able to know the Father’s will and the Holy Spirit would reveal thanks to him and so forth.
So all that is, that’s well and good. But Jesus was a man. And so you need to understand that and believe that. He was a man before death and He was a man after death. Take a Bible and look there in the Gospel of John. John 9, the Gospel of John, and chapter 9. John chapter 9, you’ll notice there in verse 16. In verse 16 it says, therefore said some of the Pharisees of this man is not of God.
They could see that he was a man. He looked like a man. He talked like a man. He walked like a man. He acted like a man. He was a man. And this is before he was crucified. But when he came into the world, he became a man. He had a physical body. And then the next question was, others said, how can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them. The question was not that he was a man, but was he a sinner or not?
So they concluded that this man was different from all other men because this man can do things that no other man could do. And even when he spoke, the Bible says that no man spake like this man. No man could speak with the authority like this man. But he was a man born into this world, took upon himself a physical body. Now if there had never been a sinful nature, all of us would be born and we would have physical body.
It’s just we would live forever. So has that changed in the sense that now that I have been born of God, am I going to be a man or am I going to be a little God? It’s interesting. I didn’t have the answer when I first read these verses years ago, but I have done a little study and since then. I’ve never heard a preacher ever preach on this, but it’s right there. It’s in the Scriptures. It says those things.
And the question is a reasonable question. So what am I going to be? What are you going to be? But we know that before Jesus died that He was definitely a man. Look in John chapter 10, we saw this first while we go, but I kind of or ran over a little quick. But what I want you to see there in verse 33, the Jews answered him saying, for a good work we stoned thee not, but for blasphemy, and because that vow, and you ought to underline those words, be in the man.
He was a man. Now, if he was a man before he died, what was he after he died? Because whatever he was after he died, and he had a physical body, Well, we’re going to be like him. So maybe if he is a man after his resurrection, or then maybe, maybe I’ll be a man. I believe that I was created to be a man. And then when I trust the crisis, my savior, I’m still a man. And that whenever I die and I get to heaven, I’m still going to be a man.
I’m not going to be a little God running around, and I’m not going to be creating worlds, but I am going to be a man. But I’m going to be a man in a glorified body, but I’m still going to be a man limited to the limitations of a body, a physical body. Now when you read this, he says, because thou being a man, make us thyself God. And so you have to be careful that you don’t try to make yourself a God.
Just because Jesus is God. Now I want you to take your Bible and look there in the book of Acts in chapter 2. The book of Acts in chapter 2. Acts chapter 2 and look there in verse 22. The Bible says, as Peter is preaching a sermon, says in verse 22, ye men of Israel here, these words, Jesus of Nazareth, a man. You are not like a man. Approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you all, as ye yourselves also know.
Him being delivered by the determinant council and foreknowledge of God ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain, whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death because death could not keep him down as shortened for Yankee Arnold. So the Bible says that Jesus was definitely, definitely. He was a man. Of course, we know he was the God man. He was the perfect God and perfect man. He was a God man. But to understand that he was a man because he lived in this world, he was born here, and that he had a physical body.
And he got thirsty and he got hungry. He felt pain. And he went through a lot of the things and he says the words, I thirst. There’s a lot of things that he did and suffered because he was a man. And only a man could come into this world and die for us, but it had to be a perfect man. And Jesus Christ is the only man that was able to do these things. So turn in your Bible to the book of 1 Timothy chapter 2, 1 Timothy and chapter 2.
First Timothy and chapter 2. And you notice there’s a very interesting portion of Scripture here that talks about us as God’s children to pray for those in place of leadership. Look in verse 1, I exhort therefore that first of all, supplication, prayers, and get this intercession. We spoke about that this morning. And giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and for all that are in authority, we may lead a quiet and peace of a whole life in all godliness and honesty.
Well, this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior. In other words, doing those things in verse one and verse two is acceptable in God’s sight. So God wants us to do those things. Now then look in verse four, who will have all men to be saved? So evidently this is a good verse to pray for all that they would be saved, evidently. So we’re supposed to evidently be praying for the lost. I’ve had people say there’s no verse in the Bible that says, well, to pray for the lost.
Well, they must not have read this verse because I can see that in these verses. So in verse 4, who will have all men to be saved and and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. So I’m supposed to pray for all these kinds of people and the kings and those in authority that they’ll come to know the truth, that they’ll come to know the Lord. But look what he says here in verse five. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, and you ought to underline this, the man Christ Jesus.
You see, why is that important? because this is after Jesus has died. This is after the resurrection. Jesus is still a man. So if I’m a man here and now, and whenever I die and I get to heaven, I will still be a man. But I’ll have a glorified body, but I’ll still be a man. I will be limited to what I can do and go where in this body. Now, I would hope that God may give me a few little magical powers.
But I don’t know, you know, like, I told the Lord, Lord, you know what, I love to play golf. Now, there’s nine planets. If we could make out a nine hole golf course, wouldn’t it be the hit a golf ball and it goes tomorrow. And then he hit it again, it go to Pluto, hit it again, go to Saturn and so on. Go all around it, wouldn’t that be neat? What a way to go. And then, you know, you got, what’s time?
One long eternal leg, play golf all day, all night. One long eternal, there is no night. Just play forever. I mean, you gotta have something to do. So I’ll just put in a few requests. But he was a man. See there in verse six, the man Christ Jesus. He is still referred to as the man. And so I believe that that is exactly who he is and what he is and that we need to believe that. Take your Bible, look in Matthew chapter 16.
Matthew and chapter 16. Matthew chapter 16. Look at verse 28. Verse 28. In this verse it says, Verily, verily, I say unto you, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. So this is going to be when he He comes in his kingdom is going to be… After his death and resurrection. And he is still called the Son of Man. It didn’t change. He was here as the Son of Man, and there he will still be the Son of Man.
Jesus said that. So Jesus is still going to be a man. And when he sits on the right hand of the Father, I believe that there’s the Son of Man is setting at the right hand of the Father. Now, I don’t understand all about that, but I don’t need to. I just need to know and understand that even though you and I, we were created into this world the first time because of the creation of Adam. But the Bible makes the statement that when you trusted Christ as your Savior, you became a child of God.
So I’m a child of God and I haven’t got my body yet. So it means that I will be a child of God forever, but I’m going to be living in a glorified body. So I’m still going to have a body that doesn’t stop me from being a man. I am a man and he is God. I’m not God. I’m not Him. And I don’t think we’re all going to be in heaven. We’re going to be a whole bunch of little gods either.
I think that we’re still going to be people. We’re going to be individuals. Now, I want you to look there at this verse in chapter 17. Chapter 17 looked there in verse 1, where it makes a statement, and after six days, Jesus take of Peter and James and John. We just about got those three guys here. His brother and bring them up into a high mountain apart and was transfigured before them, and his face did shine as the sun.
And his raiment was white as the light. And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with them. Now the scripture says they literally appeared and they’re there. So are they able to appear and disappear evidently because it says later that there was no man there. All of a sudden they were gone. But right now there’s Moses and Elijah. Then answered Peter and says unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here. boy, this is really great.
You are fortunate. Well, what an opportunity. He says, let us make here three tabernacles, one for thee and one for Moses and one for Elijah. While he yet speak, be holy, bright, cloud over shadowed them. And behold, a voice out of the cloud which said, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Here ye him. But when they saw Moses and they saw Elijah. I believe they knew that that’s Moses and that’s Elijah, and they were recognizable, but they were still men.
They were still men, still in a body, and they could see a physical body form.
