in Hebrews in chapter 4 now. Hebrews in chapter 4. Hebrews chapter 4. And remember this, when you read the Gospel of John and in chapter 1 when he says that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. So the Word was God and God became flesh. In 1 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 when he talks about God manifested in the flesh, God manifested in the flesh.

So we know that Jesus Christ was God. And so when he talks about in the book of 1 John and chapter 4 and verse 1, try the spirits for any spirit or any teaching that says Jesus Christ did not come into flesh, that is not of God. Now I was telling the college kids, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, they’re teaching Jesus did not come that away and he’s not God. He is God so therefore The scripture says if anybody says that this not true It is not of God.

So what they teach it’s not of God the Christian science Which is like great nuts flakes. It’s not great, but it’s not nuts. It’s not Christian. It’s not science and They teach that Jesus didn’t come that away They don’t believe he was who he claimed to be be. So they don’t believe it. They separate here’s Jesus and here’s Christ. Jesus was just the man, but Jesus was not Christ. Christ was just the idea. So of course when Mary was going to have a baby she gave birth to an idea.

So it is a ridiculous teaching. There is no sin and older people really love the teaching of Christian science for the simple reason. They don’t have to worry about hell because there is no hell, dead away with that. And that there is no sin, so therefore we’re not doing anything wrong. And there’s no such thing as death, so we’re not going to die. We just think we’re getting sick and we just think we’re dead. We’re not really dead. We just think we’re dead.

So they all die evidently of mental problems, which I can test to that. But now here in verse 14, seeing then that we have a great high priest that means of present ministry. This is what goes on now. We have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession, for we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but here in this world he took upon a body and he lived as a man and he was a perfect man and he was tempted in all points like as we and yet without sin.

There’s always the question whether or not. Could he have sinned? And of course some people say, well, it couldn’t have sin because he was God. Can my old sinful nature sin? Well, yes, I got a sinful nature. Can my new nature, my new birth, can it sin? It can’t sin because it’s born of an incorruptible seeing. So it’s difficult for us to to truly understand could he or could he not have? And this is a discussion and a debate that goes on and on and on.

There’s no end to it. But it says, in all points, like as we yet without sin. And because of this, we can go boldly to the throne of grace because there’s somebody there who understands. He was actually here, he lived here, he knows what life is all about. He knows what suffering is like. He knows what it’s like to be hurt. knows what it’s like to be rejected. He knows what it’s like to have everybody walk away for. He knows what it’s like to be spit on and then beat up.

He knows what it’s like to be killed. There isn’t anything you can go through. He knows what it’s like. And people slandered him, lied about him, all kinds of things. So yes, and yet with all of that, he still never sinned. Now me, Bible is here, not a slap a few of them around a little bit But, says that’s why you and I can go boldly to the throne of grace. Now look there in chapter 7. Chapter 7. So Jesus Christ in order to be a high priest could not be a high priest after the order of Aaron because they were flesh that lived and died and lived and died and lived and died and they had to make a sacrifice for themselves.

then for the sins of the people. But Jesus was not a sinner. He didn’t have to make a sacrifice for himself. And the reason that He is of a different line is because of the power of an endless life. You see, look what that says in verse 16 of chapter 7, who is made not after the law of a carnal commandment, if I may to praise, but in Yoda on the line is after the power of an endless life.

There is power in having eternal life. Means he will never die. It means that when he offered up his blood upon the altar, his blood was incorruptible blood and you don’t need anymore. All the other blood was corruptible blood from the bulls and they go to all the animals. It’s always corruptible. And so what do you do now? all you had, well then you’ve got to keep offering more sacrifices because you just had some fresh sins and you need some fresh blood, fresh sins, more fresh blood.

But when Jesus died, he enters into the tabernacle which is in heaven and offers his blood which is incorruptible blood, eternal blood and it’s just as fresh today as it was when it flowed in his veins. That’s my humble opinion anyway. And I believe it’s based upon scripture and it was precious blood. Now look there in verse 1. For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, now if you go back to the book of Genesis, you will not find who his parents were.

You don’t find out when he was born. You don’t find out where he died. You don’t even know where he came from. But Salem was generally the place of Jerusalem. Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city of peace, today it’s been the city of pieces for about 3000 years, but one day Jerusalem will be the place of peace. But that’s where Abraham met him and paid ties unto Melchizedek. So even though Abraham before he ever had his children and on down the line the whole nation of Israel, he paid ties to Melchizedek when he met him.

And so Israel paid ties through Melchizedek because of what he did. And that’s mentioned up there in the Scriptures here. You see there in verse 9? And so I may say Levi also who received ties paid ties in Abraham, for he was yet in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met Abraham. Well, you know there’s a lot of things in God’s word that’s a little difficult sometimes to But he makes his statement there in verse 2, to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being by interpretation king of get to righteousness.

And after that was also king of Salem, which is king of peace without father, without mother, without descent, nobody after him, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God about it the priest continually. So he was going to be a priest like that. Not like Aaron or his line because he was going to be different. Now in the book, first five books, Moses never wrote about a priest coming from the line of Judah.

See what it says here in verse 14? He says, for it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah, of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerned and priesthood. And it is yet far more evident for that after the similitude of Melchizedek, there arises another priest, another one just like him. And so Jesus Christ comes along and He had no sin. He had the perfect sacrifice. He gave Himself. And so therefore nobody has to do it after Him because the payment He made was sufficient for all the sin of all the world for all time.”

And that’s awesome. I think it’s awesome. Look in verse 11, if therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, the tribe of Levi, for under it the people received the law, what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron. For the priesthood been changed, there is made of necessity, a change also of the law. So things changed. So we have now a high priest. He is the Lord.

And then he makes the statement down here. In verse 17, for he testifies, Thou art a priest after the order of Melchizedek. See in verse 17. And it says in verse 19, for the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did by the which will we draw nigh unto God. Now look over in verse 22, by so much was Jesus made a surety of a better contract, a better will. It means that he was the guarantee.

He was the who made out the will, but the will is of no value unless the testator dies. So when he dies, the will is in effect, and we are the heirs of what he did. So that’s why we read the Bible and the New Testament is like a new will. Sometimes people they make out a will and then they make out another will. And the last one they make out superseize the first one. It can include a lot of the stuff from the first will, but he made out a new will, and this was made on a better covenant, a better promise of what he was doing.

So therefore, we have something a little bit better. Now look there in verse 23. Verse 23, and they truly were many priests because they were not suffered or permitted to continue, and here’s why, by reason of death. You see, in the Old Testament, before Christ came, they all died. But in verse 24, but this man, because he continues for how long? For ever. Had an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him.

That means save them completely. Eternal security. different. And then notice the last part of that verse where he says, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. So when the devil accuses us, well the blood of Christ is incorruptible blood and it’s as fresh today as it was 2,000 years ago and it will be like that forever. There is no accusation it can come against us because well I sinned after the blood was no longer any good. The blood that was offered by this high priest is good for how long?

Forever to take care of all my sins. And they used to say, save you from the other most to the guttermost. Well, I believe he really saves you, that’s for sure. And notice now what he says. In verse 26, for such a high priest became us who is holy, harmless, defiled separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens, who need if not daily as those high priestess to offer up sacrifices. First for his own sins, and then for the people.

For this he did once when he offered up himself. Do you see the comparison? It’s showing you that this is once and for all. So when you trust Christ as your Savior, you have the free gift of everlasting life and he’ll never cast you out and never lose you. That’s why it is so wonderful. Now, I want you to turn over there to chapter 9, look in chapter 9. So we’re talking about Jesus Christ and the High Priest. And remember that the law could not make anybody perfect, but something else did.

And that’s the payment Christ made. It can make you perfect. That’s why you’re not saved by your work because otherwise you have to keep doing your works. And God says, no, if you accept the payment I made, my work is credited to you. And therefore, you don’t have to worry about the works. It’s grace and it’s awesome. Look in verse 11. But Christ, being come a high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building, neither by the but of goats and calves, but by his own blood.

He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained what kind of redemption? Eternal redemption. That means that He only had to do this one time to give us eternal salvation. Redemption means you’ve been redeemed. He made a payment that’s an eternal payment once and for all. Why some people can’t see this? I don’t know. And then He talks about up here about the ashes of a heifer, but we’ll get into that later. About the red heifer, now that’s in Numbers in chapter 19 around verse 2, but that’s a different situation.

Now, what I want you to see is that in verse 23. Look at verse 23. It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these. So there’s something in heaven that has to be purified, not get to it, but the heavenly things themselves would better sacrifices than these. Verse 24, for a Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands. Well then what holy place did he go into? He didn’t do it to the temple that was here on the earth.

And here is temple. He must have went to another one somewhere. I wonder where it was. Look at it. For Christ has not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the truth. But into where? Heaven itself now to appear in the presence of God for us. That’s now. So he appears in the presence of God for us now. Now you look there in verse 25, nor yet that he should offer himself often because he made an eternal redemption, of the eternal payment.

Remember, he don’t have to do it again. As the high priest entered into the holy place every year with the blood of others, that’s what they had to do. So he’s showing you there’s something different about this. Verse 26, For then must he often have suffered since the foundations of the world. In other words, if that payment he made was only up until that moment of time, and then you send some more, well, he got to pay for those, and then you send some more, well, now you got to pay for those, then you send again, well, now you got to pay for those.

Well, what if he just made one payment and that covered past, present and future? Wouldn’t that be good? Once and for all. Look in verse 46, For then must he often have suffered since the foundations of the world. But now get this, once in the end of the world, hath he appeared. Now this is past tense. Up there in verse 24, now to appear, that’s present tense. Here hath he appeared, that’s past tense. Hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself, not our sacrifice.

It’s not by any sacrifice that we make, any good deeds that we do. Hold your place right here. You’ve got to see this. Look in Hebrews in chapter one. Hebrews chapter one. There is one awesome verse here. So Hebrews chapter one, looking verse three. Who being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person and upholding all things by the word of his power when he had with our help. No. When he had what? By himself purged our sins, sat down.

Now why would he set down if the job ain’t done? I think the job was done. It is finished. And so therefore he by himself that one sacrifice was sufficient. Now go back there to verse 28 of chapter 9 in Hebrews. Notice what it says in verse 28, for Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many and unto them that look for him, shall he appear. That’s future. So he appears up in heaven now as our priest, our high priest, interceding for us.

And that means I believe that the Holy Spirit, according to the book of Romans, he prays for us. And Christ intercedes for us. And it was God who justified us. Hey, you can’t get any better than that. You got the whole turn of your own nurse side. And so he says, in the future, then that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. In other words, there’s not going to be another payment for sin for salvation ever again.

There is no more offering for sin. #### Look up there in verse 18 of chapter 10. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. That doesn’t have to be another offering for sin if all of your sins have been forgiven. So simple. Now before we close, look there in the book of 1 John, 1 John chapter 5. 1 John and chapter 5. 1 John chapter 5, and there’s a verse 4 where it says, for whatsoever is born of God, overcome of the world.

This is the victory that overcome of the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcomes the world? But he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God. So when you believe that Jesus was the Son of God that came into the world that died on the cross, paid for your sins, your faith is all that’s needed just to believe it. To believe that he made one offering forever for your sins. Then in verse 6, I notice what he says, This is he that came by water, blood, Jesus Christ, not by water only, but by water and blood.

Now, many people have a lot of controversy over what it really means, and I may not even have the right answer. But I do believe that when Christ was on the cross and when they put that spirit on his side the Bible says, I came blood and water. And also I do believe that the water was the beginning of his ministry when he was baptized and the blood was the end of his ministry and they both testify to the fact that there was a witness.

God says, this is my beloved son in whom I’m well pleased. And then God, because of the blood of Christ, and His payment for sin, raised Him from the dead. So you have these witnesses, the testimony. And then He makes a statement here in verse 6, this is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ, not by water only but by water and blood. And it is the spirit that beareth witness because the spirit is true. How does the Holy Spirit bear witness with our spirit that we are the sons of God?

Romans chapter 8. His spirit bears witness with our spirit by the word of God. You see whenever we read the word of God it’s the Holy Spirit within us that helps us to see and to understand and enlighten our mind and we believe what we read because his spirit is communicating with our spirit as we read the word of God. Now notice something else. He says in the last part of here in verse 7, for there are The three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one.

And I believe that. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of man, the witness of God is greater. And do we receive new witness of men? They say there’s a rush. How do I know? I’ve never been there. Have you been there? They say we put man on the moon. Have you been there? How do you know? You receive the witness of man.

We receive the witness of man every time we turn around. Soon as you go home you’re going to turn on the news and see what’s happened today. Oh, that’s what happened. We all do that. But isn’t the testimony of God even better? He had over 500 people eye witnesses of Jesus after his resurrection. That’s a pretty good number for us to believe. You know, one of the greatest proofs to me that I needed to say to me, I’m not the same guy I used to be.

I actually believe this truly is the Word of God. It has changed my life. And I’d like to believe, and I do believe, it’s for the better. If the Bible isn’t true, I believe it because of all the joy I’ve had in bringing the gospel to people. If it was all false. in people’s lives change. If it was all false, but it is, it’s true.” And then he says this in verse 10, he that believeeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself, which is the truth.

You have truth within you, you have the Holy Spirit within you to teach you that what God says, this is the truth. And he that believe if not God had made him a liar because he believes not the record that God gave of a son. And this is the record that God had given to us. That the life is in his son. He that hath the son, oh, half life. You have the son, you have life. If you don’t have the son, you don’t have life.

These things have already written on you that believe. Now look down there in verse 20 where it makes a statement. And we know that the Son of God has come and have given us an understanding that we may know him that is true And we are in him that is true even in his son Jesus Christ And this is an awesome statement. This is the true God and eternal life Jesus Christ is God and he is our high priest and That’s good news look over here.

This end represent you and me and the walla represents sin. We all have sin upon us We need somebody to be a go-between. Jesus Christ was not only a mediator, but He is also our intercessor, and He is our high priest. But first of all, you and I have all sinned. And since we’ve all sinned, we’re all condemned, so we cannot save anybody. We cannot even save ourselves. So therefore, we needed a Savior, but there’s nobody to save us because every man is guilty of his own sin.

And the pay for it is eternal separation from God. So because God loves us and we can’t save ourselves, he’s sent a Savior. That’s what it means. And he represents Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, he came into the world because he loves us. It’s our sin because our sin separates us from the Lord. So it’s not only because he had no sin, didn’t have to die. So he took all the sins of all the world upon himself And he became the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.

And he came back from the dead. And God said, if we would believe it, we have applied to us an eternal redemption. He redeemed me forever. By one offering, he has perfected all of them that believe. And God said, he would never, never cast us out and never lose us. He can’t. Can’t do why. I don’t have any sins that separates me from God. Rest in the world. Let’s pray, shall we? But headbound eyes close and no one looking around.

If you’re watching by internet tonight, or if you’re in the auditorium, he never trusted the Lord, would you just talk to the Lord and say something simple like this? I don’t understand it all, but I believe Christ died and they paid for my sins. And I will trust Him as my only hope of going to heaven. This is so important. So would you write now to say, yes, that made sense to me. And I will trust Christ as my Savior.

A friend I urge you to do so, and I pray that you will. And if you trust Him right now, He saves you right now, gives you eternal life right now. And you can say, I know I’m going to heaven when I die, because Christ paid for all my sins. Father, we thank You so much for this time together. Let’s each one for being here.
