Be turning in your Bible to the book of Ezekiel chapter 14. The book of Ezekiel. Chapter 14. I was told that there was a movie out called Noah. Anybody heard about it? I haven’t seen it. So I thought I would speak on Noah today, the real Noah, the real flood, and what I believe happened because of the flood, what caused it. And so I thought I would just kind of give you an idea of my position on this. So in the book of Ezekiel chapter 14, I want you to look at verse 14.
Chapter 14 and verse 14, God had promised that He was going to bring judgment against Israel. They had rebelled against Him, and so problems were mounting. So it says here in verse 14, though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it. They would deliver but their own soul by their righteousness, saith the Lord God. In other words, it’s like God says, these are three of the most righteous men are part of those that existed, lived, and were good men, righteous men, godly men.
And he goes on down here to say in verse 16, though these three men were in it, as I live saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters. They only shall be delivered. In other words, by their righteousness, God would not listen to anything they said or did about saving anybody else because these people here were righteous and there needed to be judgment come. So then he says down in verse 18, these three men were in it as I live saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.
Verse 20, though Noah, Daniel and Job were in it as I live saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter, they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness. So there’s things that were going to take place. God said that these three men were righteous men. So I do have a tendency to believe that Noah was a righteous man, that he was a good man, that he was a godly man. And the Bible says that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and Noah walked with God.
So therefore I believe that he was a a high caliber spiritual individual. Just my humble opinion. Of course, I believe it’s backed up by Scripture. Now I want you to take your Bible and turn to Hebrews in chapter 11, the book of Hebrews in chapter 11. Hebrews in chapter 11 looked there in verse 5. God is talking about the Hall of Faith chapter and He says in verse 5, by faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death and was not found because God had translated him for before his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God.
But without faith it’s impossible to please him, for he that comeeth to God must believe that he is and that he is a re-order of them that diligently seek him. So Enoch lived before the flood and he was a good man, he was a godly man and he had the testimony that he pleased God and he was and he was not because God took him. Wouldn’t that be exciting? Well that’s That’s what you’re going to do to us when the Raptor takes place by the boys pull that into the mark two o’clock.
Now let’s talk about it. Now look at verse 7. By faith Noah, being warned of God, of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an art to the saving of his house, by the way she condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is of faith. So God says that Noah was a righteous man and he had faith in God and the previous verses says that to be a man of faith, it’s impossible to please him without a chance to be a man of faith.
it and he has to believe that God is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek to please him. So there Noah was a good man. God says that he was a righteous man and then I want you to look at this one here in 2 Peter chapter 2 2 Peter and chapter 2. 2 Peter chapter 2 and looked there in verse 5. This is on pays 13, 18 in one of the church’s Bibles. And it says in verse 5, and spared not the old world, but saved Noah, the eight person, a preacher of righteousness.
You ought to unwind the line that in your Bible. Noah was not just a builder of a ship. He was a preacher. He was a preacher of righteousness, and he’s talking about God’s righteousness. That’s what he was a preacher of. So we have this mentioned in the Word of God, and so therefore we should look at Noah the way God pictures him in the Bible. Now I haven’t seen the movie, but I probably won’t. But I’ve heard a lot of comments and people writing things about it for and against and all that.
But the Bible does teach us that as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the Son of Man when he comes back. And so it was pretty bad then. It just looks like it’s going to get pretty bad again. Well, it already is. And so now I want you to take your Bible and turn with me to the book of Genesis in chapter 6. Genesis and chapter 6. The Bible talks about this judgment that’s coming up on the earth.
So the question comes down is, if you look there in your notes, number one, page one, Number one, who are the sons of God? This is a position that many take. These were fallen angels that took wives and produced hat breeds that contaminated the seed of the human race. This union was the daughter of men, created giants in the land and rebellion against God. And so these are the Scriptures. So let’s look there in Genesis chapter 6 and verse 1.
It says, and it came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born into them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair and they took them wives of all that they chose. And the Lord said, my spirit shall not always strive with men, for that he also is flesh, yet his day shall be a hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days and also after that when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, the same became mighty men, which were of old men of renown.
And God saw the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord says, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, and the creeping things in the file of the air, for it repented me that I have made them, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. In the last part of verse 9 says, and Noah walked with God. So the position that some take is that these were fallen angels that took the good-looking women and had half breeds and produced these giants and contaminated the whole human race and therefore God had to bring judgment and that’s why he destroyed man. Now there’s quite a few scriptures that seem like well that’s the way it could have taken place.
It could have been that but I want you to look at what they look at in your notes right there in front of you so you don’t have to open up to all of these. The Bible does describe the angels as sons of God. See there in Job chapter 38 and verse 4 says, Where was thou when I laid the foundation of the earth? Declare if thou have understanding, who hath laid the measures thereof if thou knowest, or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Were upon all their foundations there of fastened, or who laid the cornerstone thereof? When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy. And so many take that phrase there, the sons of God in the book of Job as a reference to the angels and it could be. So that’s why you go to the book of Job, the next scripture down in your notes there, Job chapter 1 and verse 6 says, now there was a day.
When the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord and Satan came also among them. And the Lord said unto Satan, Went comeeth thou. Then Satan answered the Lord and says, From going to and fro in the earth and from walking up and down in it. Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord. And many believe these are angels. So the angel have been called the sons of God.
So this is why people read this and they read there in chapter 6 of Genesis that this evidently is talking about angels who took upon the form of a man and took wives of all that they chose and their offspring were giants in the land and so they were contaminated in the human race. And it sounds good. You can even go over to the book of Jude and read this first. I look at the next verse down there on your page.
And the angels which kept not their first estate but left their own habitation, he hath reserved and everlasting change under darkness until the judgment of the great day. Now it doesn’t say that when that happened or where it was that it did happen and they left their first estate, it just assumes that this must be those angels that were back there right before the flood and God is really punishing him because of that. Well, it’s of you. It’s a position.
But is it the only position that maybe makes any sense? Now, look at the problem, the problem, right there in the middle of your page, the problem, there is not one mention of angels in the passage. You don’t see the word angel mentioned anywhere. It doesn’t mean it can’t refer to it, but it doesn’t mention it. Word doesn’t say that angels can procreate anywhere else in the Bible that says angels can procreate. It’s not there, nowhere. So maybe they don’t.
We are assuming that this is what they did. The next point, if angels produce the seed, why were they called children and not angels? Or here’s an angel and here’s a woman. They have a child. Why is it called a child and not an angel? If it’s happy, but I don’t see where that is reference. The next point, why would angels take wives? Wouldn’t that indicate they had a marriage? Now it’s one thing just to take all the women you want and have all the sex you want and then that’s one thing.
Why would an angel have to marry them? Why marry them? So I have a few questions, I have a few doubts and when I can’t settle something in my mind I think well they might be another explanation. So I have an enquiring mind and I want to know. So is this the best answer? Well, I don’t want to make the scriptures say anything. I want to see if from the scriptures I can find out what it’s talking about. So number two, here’s another view.
Number two, who were the sons of God? Here’s the position. They were the sons of Seth whose daughters were from the line of Cain. These giants were either due to living so long or were mighty in their rebellion against God. So because of the length of life that they lived, could it be because they were able to grow so big? Then maybe it was just because the one line married into another line and they had rebellious kids. Well, it’s good to look at it and try to see what you believe the scriptures say.
So, what I want you to do is look in that verse again where he says, in verse 1, Genesis 6 verse 1, and it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair and they took them wives of all which they chose. So somebody is getting married to somebody. You usually don’t have a wife unless you’re married.
I mean it’s a shame to have a mother-in-law and a wife. Genesis chapter 6 and verse 3 says, And the Lord said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that He is also is flesh, his day shall be 120 years.” So he’s telling you that my spirit shall not always drive with man and flesh. Now this is not anywhere yet talking about, as I can see, a reference to angels. Except the one phrase, the son of God, and maybe there’s another view that would satisfy instead of saying, well, they have to be the angels.
And so the next point is, in letter D, Genesis 6, 4 says, there were giants in the earth in those days. And also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, that they bear children. So you ought to note that children. The same became mighty men. These children became men. They were not half breeds. It doesn’t say they were half breeds. It says children became men. And generally that’s the way it happens. And he says, which were of old men men.
Now not angels, not half breeds, not anything else, men. Now in Genesis chapter 6 and verse 5 says, and God saw the wickedness of Man was great in the earth, not the angels, but man. And that every imagination of the thought of his heart, man. God’s not concerned about the heart of the angels. He’s talking about that which he created and put here, and I believe it’s a reference to man. And then he says, in verse five, and God saw this was done, and he says, notice that the wickedness was of man, not angels.
I just thought that that was probably important to note. Now, the back of your page, Genesis chapter 6 and verse 6, and the Bible says, and it repented the Lord that he had made man on on the earth and it grieved him at his heart. And Genesis 6, 7, and the Lord says, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast and the creeping things and the files of the air for it repented me that I have made them.
And he says, I will destroy men whom I have created. So he’s talking about the creation that he made and put in charge of the earth is something that mankind is doing. There’s nothing that says anything about angels in none of these verses that I can find. I may wanna interject it and make it say something like that, but is it possible that the sons of God could be something else? Well, I want you to take your Bible because I want you to see this.
Turn to the book of Luke, the Gospel of Luke in chapter three. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Luke chapter 3. When we talk about the genealogy of Jesus Christ, you’ll find in the book of Matthew a genealogy that proves that Jesus was of the right line to be king. And in the book of Luke you find a genealogy that shows that Jesus has to be of the Son of Man so that he could be the Redeemer. So he has to be of the right line.
And so That’s why you have two genealogies given, one in Matthew to prove something and to book a loop to prove something else. So here in the book of Luke in chapter 3, I want you to notice what he says here in verse 23, and Jesus himself began to be about 30 years of age, being as was supposed the son of Joseph. He wasn’t Joseph’s son. Joseph happened to be his legal father, but he wasn’t his dad. He was in the right position.
Mary was already pregnant by the seat of the Holy Spirit and not by Joseph. Joseph did not touch Mary until after Jesus was born and then Mary had more children. So here you have a genealogy given and it goes on down through here and so and so be God and so and so be God and so and so forgot. Then you get down to verse 31, where it says, which was the son of Mili, which was the son of Minan, which was the son of Matatha, and which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David.
So you’ve got to go all the way back to David. And also in the book of Matthew, it has to go back to David, the son of, the son of, the son of, all the way through. And then you’ll find out there in verse 33, you’ll the last words are the son of Judah. So this is one of the tribes of Israel and in verse 34 which was the son of Jacob which was the son of Isaac which was the son of Abraham.
It’s a genealogy going all the way back. And then look what he says in verse 38 which was the son of Enos which was the son of Seth which was the son of Adam, which was the, what? A son of God. See, God created him. He’s called the son of God, but is there more to it than meets the eye? So, he has to go all the way back to show he is a man born into the world so that he has the right to be the kinsman redeemer.
He has to be related to the human race. Jesus had to be a man, but he’s also God. He is the perfect God man. Now, take your Bible and go back to the book of Genesis in chapter four. Back to Genesis and chapter four. Now you know that Adam and Eve came together. The Bible says they had a son and his name was Abel. And they had another son. They had Cain. They had Cain and then they had Abel.
But Cain got mad. He got mad at God, mad at his brother for some reason, because he made sacrifices and God would accept one and couldn’t accept the other one. This is your first fundamentalist and your first modernist. One believed in doing what God said, that’s your conservative Christian fundamentalist. The other was a modern liberal. He wanted to do it his way and didn’t need to listen to God. And so one killed the other. Cain killed Abel. But God put a mark on him so that nobody would kill him, and God let him live a long time.
The Bible doesn’t say how long. It’s just that he lived long enough to go to a certain place and have a wife and have kids and their kids had kids. So look what he says here in verse 16. verse 16 of chapter 4. And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden. Cain knew his wife and she conceived and buried Enoch and he built a city and called the name of the city and blah blah blah.
Goes on down through here and has all these in verse 19 and Lemick took unto him two wives but this is the line of Cain. He took two wives and And so they begin to take as many as they wanted. It wasn’t long before God says that’s enough because Cain was rebellious. And down in verse 23, in layman said unto his wives, here my voice, ye wives, hearken unto my speech, for I have slain the man to my wound.
Wounded in the words, I had to defend myself and I had to kill this guy. And if Cain can have protection, surely I can. So we have more death and we’re going to have more problems. And he says that he had wives, that’s in the line of Cain. Now is that, well, what did he mention that? Well, what did he put that in the Bible? If it didn’t have any, you know, value to it, don’t bring it up, but he brought it up for a reason.
And so he says here in verse 25, looking verse 25, and Adam, Adam knew his wife again. And she bear a son, called his name Seth, for God said she hath appointed me and you ought to underline these two words, another seed, instead of Abel whom Cain slew. So he was a seed from which is going to come to more people and not just Cain, got another one. And his name is called Seth. And you’ll notice in verse 26, and to Seth to him also there was born a son and his name is called in us, then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.
So you go and unwind that statement. So here you have two lines. You have Cain, down through Lamey, rebellious. You have Seth and you have another seed and they begin to call upon the name of the Lord. So there are those that came in this line and there’s other ones in another line. There’s two lines. Don’t make an issue out of it. It’s not a name, but it is. It’s in the book. And so then you start off in the book of Genesis chapter 5 and verse 1 where it says, and this is the book of the generation of Adam.
See what it says? In the day that God created man in the lightness of God made him, male and female and blah, blah, blah, and the day that he was created. And in verse 3, and Adam lived 130 years and begot a son in his own lightness after his image and called his name Seth. What didn’t mention King. It mentioned Seth. And the days of Adam, after he’d be got Seth for 800 years and we got sons and daughters.
And all the days that Adam lived were 930 years and he died. And then you have here in verse 6 the family of Seth. So there’s these two lines, two families, and all these down through here, the line of Seth, you have Enoch in there in verse 6, 21, where he says, Enoch lives 60 in five years and begot Matosola, an Enoch walk with God. Now you don’t have that in the other line but you have it in this line.
So should I believe that there’s a possibility that Adam Call the Son of God. And this is talking about a different line, and it breaks off from the lineage of Cain. And so, as you go down through and you start reading this, I believe you’ll see something else. Let me just go back to your notes now. Much of this is given right there in your scriptures that you can look at. Now, turn your Bible and turn to the book of Matthew chapter 22.
Matthew and chapter 22. In Matthew 22, I looked there in verse 29, in verse 29 he says, ye do heir not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. So what was the problem? Well, because there were some people that did not believe in their resurrection. And so they thought they were trick Jesus Christ. So he says in verse 23, the same day came to him the Sadducees and the reason they were Sadducees is because they don’t believe in the power of God and the resurrection.
He said in verse 24, Moses says, If a man die having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were with us seven brothers and the first when he had married a wife, he deceased died and having no issue left his wife unto his brother. Likewise the second also and the third until the seventh. Last of all, the woman finally died. Well, that’s the Yankee phrase, you know. He says, in the resurrection in verse 28, whose wife shall she be of the seven for they all had her?
Isn’t that a good question? And here’s a woman had seven husbands, and she finally croaked. In heaven, who is going to be her husband? And he says, ye do heir, not know in the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. So even though the angels fell, does it mean that they have the ability to transform themselves into a man in order to perform sex?
Where does it say that in the Bible that they can do that? You won’t find it nowhere in the Bible. So why should I put it in there? Because that’s what I want to believe. No? He says in verse 31, but is touching the resurrection of the dead? Have you not read that which was spoken unto you by God? I am the God of Abraham and Isaac and of Jacob. God is not the God of the dead but of the living.
In other words, if those men are not alive then God is the God of some dead people that don’t exist anymore because they didn’t believe in a resurrection. But God is a God of the living which means that these people are still alive. So Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are alive and they’re with God. What another great message from Dr. Arnold.
