I got a few little things I want to share with you tonight. It won’t hurt to none. Every once in a while I sit down Once in a while I sat down and I doodled a little poem and sometimes it makes sense. Sometimes they go to the file 13. But I want you to look at the one, it’s a beautiful day to go home. It’s a beautiful day to go home. Years ago I led this guy to the Lord.
He was a Mormon. And you know there’s a lot of people in different religions and everybody thinks they’re going to heaven. I don’t care what the religion is, everybody thinks they’re going to heaven, but the only problem is not everybody’s going there. So he came out, he heard me preach, and he came to the conclusion, I’m not going to heaven. So he trusted Christ as his Savior. See there has to be a day in your life where you know and you should know that I finally understood it and I trusted the Lord.
Now you may not remember the exact day and all that stuff, but there has to be a time where you did it. You have to know that I know I’m going to heaven when I die. And so there needs to be a deliberate decision. I trust the Christ as my Savior and I know I’m going to heaven. But if somebody walked up to you after the service tonight and asked you, where are you going when you die? Could you tell them that you know positively that you’re going to heaven when you die?
How many of you know that? Raise your hand right quick. All right, put it down. But you should be able to say, I know I’m going to heaven. And the reason if somebody asks you might be all kinds of reasons. I’ve had people tell me everything from I’ve been good. I go to church. I’m religious. I’m sincere. I’m doing the best I can. I’m just as good as anybody else. My mother says that I am. That was not long ago.
And some say, well, of course I’m going to heaven. I’m going to have to preach her. Well, that ought to be good standing. The only reason you can give for going to heaven is because you personally, you yourself have trusted Christ as your Savior. And He’s the one that knows whether you did or not. So it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks, but it doesn’t matter that you have trusted Christ as your Savior and you know that you have eternal life.
So if you’re not sure of where you’re going when you die, what should you do about it? Well, what do you have to do about it? Joining the church is not gonna get you to heaven. You can be a member of this church, it won’t help you. You can join the Pentecostal church, won’t help you in Iota. You can join all of the Baptist churches, they will not help you. You can join the Mormon church, won’t help you. You can join the Catholic church, won’t help you.
You can become a Muslim, won’t help you. None of it helps you. go to heaven. And that’s what blows people’s mind. Because they’ve heard all their life. You’ve got to be good. You can’t tell me that all the good people can go to hell. Well, there are no good people. And that’s the problem. Nobody has ever lived good enough to go to heaven, not one person. Because when Christ died, He did not die for the righteous people. He died for sinners and sins all have sinned and he died for everybody.
The reason he died for everybody is because everybody is a sinner. Everybody has sins and they got to be paid. Christ paid for all sin already done. Did it 2,000 years ago. He is not coming down tomorrow or next year to pay for anybody’s sins. He’s already paid for all the sin. That’s why you can’t pay for your sins, it’s already been paid. And that’s why you need to understand that payment is not put to your account till you believe that when Christ died, He took your place.
He died in your place to pay for your sins. But the payment’s not put to your account unless you believe He did it for you. It’s on the level anybody can have it. You can explain that to a little child. You’re going to explain it to your son. And you’d explain it to adults that only thing you can do is to believe that when Christ died, He died for you and paid for your sins. See, I know I’m going to heaven.
Why? Because I’m so good. No. Just because He’s so good. He loves me. He sent His Son to pay for my sins. If He paid for my sins, then why should I have to go to hell and pay for my sins if He paid for them? And most people never figured out. You don’t. But you must accept the payment he made for you. You must believe he did it for you. And God is the only one that knows whether you really believe it.
Can I fool you? Can you fool me? Can we fool God? No. So the only way you can get to heaven is will you honestly trust Christ as your Savior. Say, Lord, I’m a sinner. That’s just being honest. live good enough to save myself and I believe Christ died on that cross and paid for my sins. Well one day I was sitting in a restaurant and I started writing this little poem, a beautiful day to go home. Now if you don’t know where you’re going when you die it’s not a beautiful day to leave this world.
It will never be a beautiful day to leave this world. But for those who know the heavy eternal life and their God’s children precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. But look at this little verse here, to be born in heaven and not on earth would bypass leaven and its terrible curse. To be born above and not below, death could not reign, for flesh could not sow. To be born of spirit and not a flesh, man need not work nor would he rest.
To be born divine without limit of time, man would not fail for the center of mind. To be born of God and not of man, we would not choose life’s shifting sand. To be born incorruptible without threat of death, we would be indestructible but be no last breath. But be as it may let God have his way, not that man has his will but that God has his way. To be born in heaven and not on earth, man could not know salvation’s worth.
To be born above and not below, man could not love as God loves so. To be born divine without limit of time, man could not learn love, joy, peace, and mind. To be born of God and not of man, man will have no hopes, dreams or plans. The work of God for all to see are us trophies of grace for eternity. See, when you and I were born to this world, we sinned against God. Because we sinned against God, we know what grief is about, we know what pain is about, we know what debt is about, and we also know what a Savior is about.
So therefore being born again, born from above, born of God. So when you trusted Christ as your Savior, God gave you a new birth, a divine birth. But God says the second birth comes after the flesh birth. So when I was born into this world, 70 something years ago. Then I trusted Christ as my Savior and was born into God’s family 53 years ago. So I’ve had two births been born twice. One of the flesh, oh physical birth, and one of God.
And if you have never been born again the second birth by putting your faith in Christ, you are not God’s child. You do not have a new birth. You do not get to go to heaven. And all the religion in the world will not help you one eye over. It won’t help. Now, I spent a lot of time after I trusted the Lord, trying to get my mom to know the Lord. So not having much tack, I would just, boom, say it.
And I didn’t want my mother to go to hell. I love my mom and I knew that my mom did not know God. I knew she knew a little bit about God because my mom and my dad would say certain words and God would be in it Jesus Christ but they were swear words. It’s only time I ever heard it. So I thought Jesus Christ was a swear word and I never wanted to swear. So I tried my best not to say the word Jesus Christ.
I didn’t want that in my mind. Ain’t that unreal? I was a teenager. Now I still thought that. That’s nothing but a swear word. Not a like to swear. I don’t remember ever saying a class word. Never wanted to. I don’t know why I can’t explain it. And so it took a while before I finally got my mom to trust the Lord. It took about five years. She came out to church one day to hear her son. preach. I poured it on.
I was concerned about nobody there, but my mom. And when I gave the invitation, my mom raised her little bony hand up there, you know, and she trustly cries as her savior. She died when she was 79, but she also knew that she had cancer. So look at the one that I wrote on, dying grace, dying grace. I wrote it on January the 9th, 1999, when I learned that my mother had cancer. So I wrote this because you know every day we live is one day less we’re going to have.
One of these days we’re going to live all of our numbers, teach us to apply our hearts unto God in number our days. Rest assured that the God of all grace will grant to you and I at the precise moment it is needed, the grace to face death, the last great enemy of man. Now God gives us saving grace. When we trusted Christ as our Savior, He saved us by grace. It means that you did not earn it, you did not deserve it.
But God gave you something because you simply took Him at His Word, you believed God. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever, believeth in Him, should not perish but have a for the lasting life. So when we believe that God saved us and saved us by grace. As we live our life, the Bible says we can go to the throne of grace to obtain the help that we need in time of need.
So there is a throne that God has set up, a place where when you need a little extra help, whatever you might need, there’s a throne set up called the throne of grace where you and I can boldly go and talk to the Lord. I’m so glad we don’t have to go through anybody. You don’t need to go through anybody. God has made a way for every one of us as his children go straight to God. And we go to God the Father, through God the Son, through his Son.
And therefore, he says, in my name, in his name, nobody else’s name is Jesus Christ and Him alone. So I wrote this year a little poem for my mom, I knew that she was going to die, and I wrote this for her. Today I face the shadow of death, who seeks my soul to steal my breath. Shall I be afraid of the dark unknown? Shall I fear the grave, the corpse, the tomb? When the deep cold chill creeps over my soul, will I shrink in fear be numb or bold?
To what shall I cling? To whom shall I trust? My hope is all gone, my death is a must. Lord, I believe you died for my sins, rose from the dead, and is coming again. But Lord, if I die before that glad day is to be present with you when I pass away, I’ll not doubt in the dark truth revealed in the light, believing new grace will brighten my night. There’s another world in which to sing. I’ll set my affections on him in heavenly things.
There are loved ones in heaven waiting for me. To get there from here, death sets me free. Where are you, death? I’m waiting for you. You kill only the old for I live anew. Rush upon me and do your worse. Plant your sting, commence your curse. These tears that I shed and the pain that I feel, I’m suffering for Christ my glory is sealed. In a few moments just a brief minute in time, I’ll step from Earth’s sorrow to glory divine.
Lord, help me face death that others may see. Christ only always living in me. Glory, Hallelujah. I’m moments away of entering Heaven’s eternal day. Now, do you fear death? If you know this is true. Don’t you believe that God will give you new grace, grace to face that darkest moment of all of our lives? We’ve never been there before and praise the Lord. You’ll never have to face it again. You’re only going to die in this world one time.
But the Bible teaches that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. I’m glad there’s no intermediate place. I can’t go to hell. Aren’t you glad you can’t go to hell? You can’t go today and you can’t go tomorrow. You can never go to hell because you see, you don’t have any sins to pay for. Christ paid for how many of our sins? All of them. And if they’re all paid and he did that 2,000 years ago before I was ever born, which means he paid for the sins I haven’t even committed yet.
He paid for all of them from the time I’m born to the time that I die. All of my sins have been paid. And when I believe he did it for me, he put that payment to my account. I am cleansed of everything. It’s like I have been forgiven of every sin. And therefore, I have a clean conscience. I’m not going to heaven because I deserve to go. I’m going to heaven because he loved me so. And that’s the best news in the world.
I want you to take your Bible and look there in the book of Colossians and look at a couple of Scriptures with me. Colossians in chapter 3. Just a couple verses that let you know that the whole family is involved. The whole family is precious and that God loves the Father. He loves the mother, he loves the children. God loves each and every one of us. And so he says here about you and I and what we should do and how we should be.
And he says in verse 12, put on therefore as the elect are chosen of God, holy and beloved, vowels of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering. Now when he says all of this, he’s also going to be explaining about the family and that daddy’s ought to feel this way toward mom and the kids and the mom ought to feel that away about daddy and the kids and Also, the kids are supposed to feel this way about the mom and dad.
But we learn this from the Lord. And so he says here in verse 13, for bearing one another, forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things, put on charity, which is love, which is the bond of perfectness or maturity. that bond which holds things together like this nuclear glue, this thing that keeps a husband and a wife together, the thing that keeps and binds the whole family together, but people love each other the way they should.
And he says there in verse 15, let the peace of God rule in your heart to every individual. That’s all of us. You see, Christ can’t rule if you don’t even know Him. That’s why you can be very religious and be very sincere. But if you don’t know for certain, you’re going to have, I mean, certain and knowing you can be certain is that you can’t go to hell. If there’s any possibility that from this day forward you could still go to hell then you’re not secure.
Because Christ says that once you trust them, He gives you eternal security. He says, He that believeth of me, hat, present tense, hat everlasting life. And He says, I’ll never cast you out, I’ll never lose you. You have eternal life. Nobody can pluck you out of my hand. That’s eternal security. If you’re not eternally secure, you’re not secure. And no man in and no church can save you. And so he makes a statement here in verse 16, let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.
Who do you think God wants to know the word? All of his children. God wants all of his children to read and to study God’s word so that you will know how to love one another and so that it can give you the strength and the grace that you need to do it because you know this is what God wants me to do. He’s well I don’t want to, I had nothing to do what you want, it’s what God wants.
And if you do things because God says, God said, God said, you have an authority to listen to and going to have accountability to this God. And it gives you the strength to do what’s right because you know that one day down the road, you’re going to stand before the Lord and everyone’s going to receive. What he’s done in the body for God’s going to reward you. See, going to heaven is free. That’s a gift. What you have when you get to heaven depends upon what you do for him.
That’s why we do go to church and we read the Bible and we pray. We do all these good things, but we don’t do it to get to heaven. We do it because we’re going there. I’m not doing anything to become a child of God. I already am his child. I became his child that day in the little olivin’ in the mouth in Georgia, I trusted Christ as my Savior. And so I pray that you have trust the Lord.
But give what he says in verse 16, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and get the hymns and spiritual songs singing with grace in your heart. So Lord, do you think God wants us to sing? To be merry, encouraging, teaching. Did you know that songs are supposed to have theology in them? And most people today who write songs, they don’t have theology in them because they don’t know theology. They don’t know the Bible. You have to know the Bible to write correct theology.
Songs is supposed to be a way of learning about God. That’s why we still sing a lot of the hymns. And in verse 17, And whatsoever you do in word or deep, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. And then look what he says, wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands. 19, husbands, love your wives, be not bitter against them. It’s just as hard for the husband not to be bitter against the wife.
It is for the wife to submit herself to her husband, which one’s the easiest? They’re both difficult. It’s difficult for the wife to submit to her husband’s authority. And it’s difficult for a man not to be bitter against the white. You say why? Because she changed their minds and intense. I don’t know. Whatever it is, we’re not going there tonight. I promise that I’m not going to make anybody mad tonight. Children obey your parents and all things. This is well pleasing to the Lord.
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Servants obey in all things. Then in verse 23, whatsoever you do it hardly is to the Lord and not unto men. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward, not salvation. See, this is what God wants us to do because we are His children, because we’re going to heaven, we’re just not there yet. But God wants His children to live like His children. That doesn’t sound that bad.
What’s wrong with that? Something wrong with that? I think God wants us to please Him. But now when you talk about how to get to heaven, say that’s a different issue altogether. I told you this before, we had three children. Betty never had those kids promise that they would be good kids before she let them be born.
They didn’t make any promises of any kind. You promised that you’re gonna listen to your mother and father, or I’m not gonna let you out of there. No, should have, but we didn’t. Look up here. This hand represents you and me. Now the Bible says that God loves us. Now all the things we do that’s wrong, that’s sin. And we have all sinned. So all of us are in the same boat. These are no big eyes or little news.
We all put our feet on the floor the same way. We’re all sinners. And every person born into the world is a sinner. Every person living today is a sinner. There are no exceptions. None. We have all sinned and we’re all sinners. And so the Bible says to go to heaven, we have to get rid of the sin. Because see heaven is a perfect place. And God won’t let me take that there. So because of sin, I can’t get in.
And God says, I have a debt to pay. I committed the sin and the wages of sin is death. We got to die. That’s why everybody born dies. We’re all going to die. This then represents Jesus Christ, he’s the Lord. God in the flesh, he has no sin. He was born of a virgin. Came into the world for one reason, because he loved us and he hates our sin. But you see, I can’t come to God and he can’t come to me because we’re seeing it separates us from him.
So Jesus Christ took all the sin. Of all the world upon himself and died in our place, substitution, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. He took all the sin of the world, paid for on the cross, came back from the dead. And he says that if I would believe he did that for me. So you can believe he did it for the world. That doesn’t save you. You had died and paid for my sins.
You see, if I believe he paid for my sins, then I’m not going to talk to you. I earn my way to heaven. I don’t have to because I don’t have any sense to pay for. I’m already going to heaven. So if I believe he did for me, he puts the payment to my account and I get to go to heaven on what Jesus Christ did. That’s the gift of God. It’s not a works list any man should boast.
It’s the best news in all the world. There’s no trace to it. If I offered you this microphone and you accepted, what would you have? This is very difficult. I know. If I offered you my wallet and you accepted what would you have? An empty wallet. You knew that. You knew that. Well, if Christ walked in here right now and he offered you eternal life and you accept that you would have eternal life. And if it’s eternal life, how long would it last?
Eternal life is everlasting life. It lasts forever. Well, I did this 53 years ago and God promised He that believeth of me half, half, present, half everlasting life. Well, that was 53 years ago. Would I still have it today? Well, what about 50 years from now? Will I still have it? What about 1000 years from now? Will I still have it? I don’t think I’ll live that long. But it’s forever and ever and ever. And that’s the best news in the world.
So when you believe He did it for you, all your sins are paid. You have eternal life. You’re going to say, I’m going to heaven when I die. And if you was to ask me, Yankee, how do you know you’re going to heaven? Because Christ died for my sins. People hear this all their life, but they don’t get it. And they still don’t know where they’re going to die. And yet they know they believe in the version, but they believe that the Bible is true.
They believe that we’re all sinners. They believe that we need to get right or saved, or whatever that might mean. But they don’t understand it. If you trust Christ as your Savior, He saves you from hell. That means I can’t go to hell. I’ve been saved. I have eternal life. I’m going to have it when I die. Best news in all the world. Let’s pray, shall we? Our Father, we thank You so much for loving us so much, and forgiven us a free gift of everlasting life.
And Lord, as we read in the Scriptures tonight, we pray that we will learn how to love others, to love our wives, to love our children, and for those that need to love their husbands, help those that are husbands not to be bitter to wives or cause kids frustration and rebellion, but also he just loved us we should and to forgive us we should. in Christ and we pray. Amen. Hello, this is Peter Amato with Bibleline, and we hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s program.
