Once you turn in your Bible to the book of Hebrews, the book of Hebrews, and chapter 12, I want to talk about something that is very important for every child of God to understand. We know that he has made a payment on the cross for all the sins of the world and that all those who do trust him as Savior become his children. And those that do trust him as Savior need to understand that your Father will hold you responsible for the decisions that you make.

And he tells us in his word that he will spare not. And I want you to understand it in the context. Here in the book of Hebrews in chapter 12, I want you to look there with me in verse 22, verse 22. But ye are come onto Mount Zion and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.”

So you see what the law could not do, Christ was able to do, to make just men perfect. And therefore He says, this salvation, do not neglect it. Not only that you have believed it, but don’t neglect it. Because to neglect this message and the power of this message is something that God is going to hold each and every one of us responsible for. And if you will look there in Hebrews now and looked down in verse 25, chapter 12, he says, see that ye refuse not, see that ye refuse not.

You see up there in verse 23, who he is, we know what he has done. You can read the 12th chapter in the first 10 verses and it talks to us about the chasening hand of God. How that a chalice of God cannot live as he please and get away with it. There is a price to pay. And you and I are supposed to be sold upon the fact that God will chasen all of his children. So now Now he says in verse 25, see that you refuse not Him that speaketh, for if they excite not, who refused Him that spake on earth much more shall not we escape if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven.

So we’re going to look at some of those who refused to obey the voice of God and some of consequences so that you and I would fear to do the same. I never had to learn all the lessons that some other people had to learn. I watched them suffer and figured that’s not for me. I did mess up once. My mom had left my dad when I was seven years old. She had six children. Moved to Pennsylvania, my sister Lizzie had found a nickel on the playground and she brought home the mom and she got her a five-cent postcard and she sent it to my aunt and uncle and they came down from Pennsylvania and got us into their car and so there were nine of us in their car and it didn’t have a backseat.

It was a 49 Dodge, a brand new 49 Dodge. They built a little bench in the backseat. It was two seats and it was a funny little coupe and then on the bench all six of us set back there. My mom sat in the front with the aunt and uncle and then they had a dog and a canary. And she got us to Pennsylvania. Well, it was not long after that my mom remarried. name was Raymond Leitig. And he had to take the responsibility of marrying a woman with six kids.

He had to be missing something upstairs, but he did it. And he, overall, he was a pretty good feller, but he had a lot of problems on his hands with the oldest kids because we didn’t always obey. Well anyway my sister Lizzie, she was gonna get a woman and so was I. And I did this and this is not a joke. You probably heard about it but this was for real. I told Lizzie I says I’m gonna put a book in my pants.

So I got a book and I put it in my pants because Even though he was my stepdad, he could really wield a wicked right hand. And he would spank, and I’m talking about, have you ever had him with a whole one hand and you’re jumping up and down with your two feet as high as you can? And that hit the back of your heels, you come down and you get the back of your head. And then by the time it was over, it was everything in between.

And you felt like you didn’t been murdered. Well, you think you would learn after a while just to stand still and take your medicine. God has put two little fat pouches right there on the back side of every person. That was designed for spanking. And we know there’s a verse in the Bible that says, Spare the rod in. Well, I knew you knew it. And yes, there was a price to pay. But I put that book in my pants and I told Liz S says, I’m going to put it in there.

And so I’m going to stand still and take my medicine. I’m not going to jump up and down because I want him to hit a certain spot. Well, he he laid it in, but I knew I’ve got to pretend like I’m getting hit like I usually do. I got a hollering scream and you know, and so whenever he hit, I holled. I mean, I let it rip. I was crying. I mean, I put him in there and he thought he had done half murdered me.

So he let me go. Now he got Lizzy. So he spanked Lizzy and Lizzy didn’t have a book in her pants. And he came on glued on it. And I stood there and I laughed. I laughed. I thought this was so funny. And my sister is real tears and she’s really getting it because we got in a fight. And I wanted her to get it. You know, sometime when they don’t know who’s guilty, both kind of get it. Oh, I hated that.

And so now she’s getting her to do, but she’s really hurting. And so when she got through, she says, Yankee has a book in his pants. I thought I had been spared. You know, down here, sometimes we can fool one another, but you can’t fool God. Have you ever done something and you just think God has got all the justifications for cleaning my clock? And you hope he’ll spare you. And you try to deduce a whole bunch of good things so that it’ll make up for it and hope they’ll forget all about it.

Isn’t it wonderful that you’re at home and your mama always tells you that you just wait till your daddy gets home. You just wait till your daddy gets home. She doesn’t touch you. And you try to do all these sweet, wonderful things because you know daddy’s coming. You wait till your daddy gets home. And then when daddy comes home, he wants to throw his arms out and you come running to him. home. That is not the one you want to see.

And then mama has to tell him what you did. And then he has killed you. God doesn’t miss. He knows exactly what to do in every situation with every individual. So he makes this statement in verse 25, look at it one more time, see that refused not him that speaketh for if they escape not, how shall we escape? And to put it in its rightful context, you have to go all the way back in chapter 2. But first of all, I want you to look there in verse 28.

Wherefore, we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. If you do not have reverence for God, and a godly fear. You’re in the heap of trouble. Because, you see, when you don’t have a fear of what your heavenly Father can do to you, and you just think it doesn’t really matter, and he’s not going to do anything because he doesn’t know, he doesn’t care, he’s too busy with all the other people that are really, really bad.

Or he took a vacation and he won’t be back for a while. Your heavenly Father sees all. And he even sees at night time. He got special glasses so he can see. even in the dark. Now take your Bible and turn back there to Hebrews in chapter 2. Now notice in chapter 2, and he’s talking to those who know the Lord, those who believe on him. And he makes his statement in verse 2, for if the word spoken by angels was steadfast and every transgression and disobedient receiveth a just recompense of reward.

Now he’s talking a in the Old Testament with the law, did you realize that God dealt very severely? And that every man that sineth shall die and every man who has sinned has died. Have you noticed that? God said that. So since everybody is a sinner, everybody does things wrong and everybody dies. And that God evidently, when he says here, every transgression and every disobedient receiveth a just recompense of rewards. God is going to take care of everything. Whether it’s the disobedience or something you need to get a reward for.

That your God is just and he is fair. Chapter 10 tells us why we ought not to cast away the confidence where we have great recompense of reward and that God is going to reward you for what you do for him. So he tells in chapter 11 why you and I ought to live by faith. And then in chapter 12 he tells us that if you don’t live by faith what he’s they’re gonna do to you. He says he chases every son whom he receiveth, every son.

And why does he chases you because he hates you? No because he loves you. Now I know it’s hard to believe that somebody loves you when they’re beating the tar out of you and have killing you. But God says this is what is going to happen. So we read these things, we’re to believe them. Now I want you to take your Bible looking second Peter chapter 2. Just turn to your right. Second Peter, it’s right after first Peter, and chapter 2.

And just simply understand that there’s a few things that you need to get a a grasp on and that is as a child of God it is the will of God that we have a a high holy reverential respect for God not that I live my whole Christian life I’m scared to get out of bed this morning I’m afraid no I know it long as I do what’s right and just serve the Lord I know God’s gonna bless me and God has to reward me for everything I do I believe that.

But I also know that if I don’t serve the Lord, I have reason to fear. And that’s why you need to keep it tally. I did this, Lord, I did it. Admit it, own up to it, don’t run, don’t hide, because he knows where to find you and get things right between you and the Lord. Do not do like most people. Wait until it’s time to go to bed at night. And as you get before the bed and you get on your knees and say, as I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen, John Ben, John of Ruth to kill to him, chicken, dad, and Ruth to cry, and they just satisfied. Don’t do that. Don’t wait. Do it right away. Keep a short telly between you and God. Now look there in 2 Peter in chapter 2. He tells us there’s a lot of false teachers and false prophets, and there’s going to be consequences to what they’re doing.

And he says here in verse four, now get this, God did not spare. Now there was angels that God had made. And if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved on the judgment. So there’s angels who sinned against God. Well, surely God’s not gonna judge them. I mean, surely he gonna cut them a little slack. No, he didn’t cut them in his slack either.

And so the angels that sinned against God, some of them were put in chains, everlasting chains, until the judgment, and then God’s gonna deal with them again. You see, God doesn’t tolerate things that we tolerate. You see, and I mentioned this before. God made a beautiful earth. He made a beautiful garden. He put a man and a woman there. They only committed one sin they had to leave. Just one. And every man that sinned, just one sin, every man dies.

All you had to do was commit one sin, die. So we’ve all sinned, so that’s why we all die. But God, it’s so hard. Don’t you think God ought to be a little bit more compassionate? It seemed like he’s carrying it. a grudge. He’s out to get everybody. Like God got up this morning, looked over the banister of heaven and he says, I’m going to get you today. And we think there’s this dark cloud that’s fallen all over us all the time.

Now it wouldn’t be nice to always feel like you’re walking in this bright sunshine because you have the peace between you and God. There’s no thick cloud that’s over you. But here in the book of 2 Peter in chapter 2, he talks about how he did not spare. Now hold your place right here and I want you to see this over there in the book of Jude. Look at the book of Jude in chapter 1. Not chapter 2, just chapter 1.

If you find chapter 2, you went too far. And notice what it says here in verse 6. In verse 6. And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he had reserved in everlasting chains under darkness until the judgment of the great day. Now why does God say this? It’s a warning them. It’s a warning so that you and I would know God did not spare even the angels. And there’s a price to pay for them rebelling against Him.

God tells us in the book of Samuel that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. It means you like you got you another God. Why would you rebelled against God. Since when do you think your wisdom and your will is better than God’s? That’s rebellion. That’s pride. When you think you are smarter than God and you don’t need God, I don’t need the church. I don’t need the Bible. I don’t need the pray. I don’t need. And God says, yes you do.

And you say, no I don’t. Guess who’s going to lose, you’re going to learn. It may be a little late, but you’re going to find out. God is always right. God always wins. You’re wrong and you’re going to lose. That’s why the hardest thing for anyone to do is to submit their will to God’s. That’s why we want to argue against God. We argue with the Bible, argue, argue, murmur, complain. And so he says here, and I want you to know this.

Look there in verse 7 now, even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them and like men are giving them over to fornication and going after strange flesh, set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Did the Sodomites and Sodom and more did they get away with it. It doesn’t matter what the opinion poll is, it doesn’t matter about the legislature, it doesn’t matter what they approve or disapprove. God didn’t change his mind. So it doesn’t matter about the opinion poll.

Well everybody’s doing it today. Women with women and you know men with men and it’s still wrong. Sex outside of marriage is what? It’s wrong. Who says so? Yank you the preacher? No, God’s word. God does not lie. His word is truth. Always go by what he says and make this. Or set for for an example. So there’s something that God wants to know. He did not spare. He did not spare. Go back there to the book of 2 Peter in chapter 2 and look in verse 5.

And notice the word spared not, spared not, and spared not the old world but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly. Who did that? God did that. Why did he do that? Because God spared him not. God brought judgment upon this world because of their sin, because of their wickedness, because they imagined whatever it was to do it, they did it. And the Bible says that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

But look at all the other people. You see, something it didn’t have to be this way, but just people do not listen and they don’t learn. We’re living in a wicked society today. It’s getting more difficult for getting good, godly people to do right. The world is influencing them. And there’s people who have a humanistic attitude, philosophy of life. And then they come to church and they want to change the church to be like they were. This church doesn’t change to be like the world.

We believe the Bible, and we teach the Bible. We’re not interested in changing what we believe God’s Word says. So nobody from the world will come in here and change this book or this preacher. And I hope that I’m making myself very clear. There’s a perspective that you always keep in mind. There is a divine perspective and a human perspective. I don’t trust the human perspective. I trust the divine perspective. To see things from God’s point of view, and I believe it’s so very, very important.

Turning your Bible with me through the book of Psalms, the 78th Psalm. Way back there in the Old Testament, the 78th Psalm, Psalm 78, and look in verse 43, you’ll notice that God made a lot of promises to Israel of how He would bless them if they did right, how He would chasten them if they didn’t, and you think, well that’s all they needed. I mean after all, if you was one of those children of Israel and you You had come out of Egypt and you saw, you know, Charleston Heston’s sending up there.

And that thing opened up like that. At that time when I first saw this, I hadn’t read the book, but I saw the movie since then I’ve read the book. And to see the 10 commandments, the water parting like that. And then you all go on a cross and then they’re all coming back in and drown all those people. You know, that would have made an impact upon me is that I’m going to watch my pees and cues and the rest of the alphabet.

That ought a scarip person half the death to go against a god that can do that, or to feed you for 40 years and the wilderness with some miraculous, you know, man that comes down. Now you and I have all these stories. We’ve heard about what God has done, and you’d be surprised how many of God’s people still don’t get it. won’t listen. They won’t believe it. So look what he says here and I want you to look there in verse 43.

How he was rocked his signs in Egypt and his wonders in the field of Zoan and had turned their rivers into blood and their floods that they could not drink. He sent divers sorts of flies among them which devoured them in frogs which destroyed them. He gave also their increase unto the the caterpillar and the labor unto the locus. He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore trees with frost. He gave up their cattle also to the hail and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.

God said he did all of that. Now they couldn’t see God. All they saw was what was going on. And the thing about people today is that you still can’t see God. But you ought to be able to do a little discernment. You can see things happening. I’ve watched over the last 53 years of God working in my life. I have no doubts. I don’t have questions at all. I am totally satisfied, convinced that I can see God working in my life.

And I believe He still is because I can discern, because I look at things from the book and I get so thrilled and just so blessed to know that God is using me. Is God using you? Are you allowing him to use you? Or do you you put up a rebellious sign? I will not. I will not. I will not obey you. You come to church, you hear the Word, but do you, you to the Word? Are you an obedient child of God?

Or do you defy God? It’s going to be your way or God can take the highway. Isn’t that something for somebody to say something like that? Oh, you wouldn’t say that. But you do it by your life, by not praying like you ought to, being faithful like you ought to, witnessing like you. See, there’s so many things we don’t do totally like we ought to. We all need some help. That’s why church encourages and helps. Because see, I can chew you out.

So that your wife doesn’t have to. And see I can chew out the husband and that way the wife doesn’t have to. Therefore everybody just hates one person without you hating each other. Isn’t that better? God figured all this stuff out. But you want, you’re not going to hate me if you don’t come in listen to me. You hear what I’m saying? Some preachers all they want everybody to do. I want everybody to like me. I want you to think I’m the greatest preacher in all the world.

Well, if I did see it, then I can’t. couldn’t get on your case. I want to be able to chew out anybody. I do not believe in tiptoeing through the tithers. But now, notice what he says down here in verse 49. He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath and ignatation and trouble, and you ought to underline it, by sending evil angels among them. God sent them this And God sent them that, God sent them troubles. In verse 50, he made a way to his anger.

He spared not, get that, you’re online. He spared not their soul from death. So God does a lot of these wonderful things because they would not listen. And then he talks about his own children. And verse 52, but made his own people to go forth like sheep. Guided them in the wilderness like a flock. Yet they didn’t see him. Oh, there was a full of fire, cloud, angel food. All you know is there’s somebody behind the scenes. Somebody bigger than us is doing all of this.

You ought to believe that there’s a God just because of the fact that you’re here. You didn’t make you. God did that. And even though I don’t see God, I really do see him. I see him to the pages of this book, And it’s so important. Turning your Bible to the book of Romans in chapter 11. Romans in chapter 11. The book of Romans and chapter 11. I’ll just put it this way to you so that you know. Beware of the preacher who’s always too nice to you.

He wants your membership or your money more than he cares about you walking with God. If a preacher doesn’t chew you out once in a while and tell you what sin is and warn you, sometimes scare you half the death that he ain’t worth a quarter. I’m at least 50 cents. But look here in the book of Romans in chapter 11, Israel, the apple of his eye. I mean, God wouldn’t spare them, would he? And yet when Christ came into the world, did he all believe him, except him?

He was rejected and crucified. The temple was destroyed just like Jesus told them it would be destroyed. They were scattered upon the face of the earth almost 2,000 years. It didn’t have to happen. It didn’t have to be that way. But all because of unbelief, they did not believe. God did not spare the nation of Israel.
