So God has designed life to let you know you don’t know it all. You don’t have all the answers. You can’t solve everything. We are always children in need. We need something. We’re always needing something. And so God wants to give us the wisdom on how to get. Most people want to be happy. They want a productive life. They want a life filled with meaning and purpose. Well, God says, I designed this thing. And if you’ll listen to me, I’ll show you how to get it.

So that’s pretty much what he’s done. Now look at chapter 4 of Proverbs and look in verse 7. He says, is the principal thing. Therefore get wisdom. And with all thy getting, get understanding. Exalt her and she shall, and you’re the underlying this word. This is a very important word. She shall promote thee. You want God to exalt you and use you in a great way. You just humble yourself and let God give you his wisdom. Now that takes a humble man to submit to the wisdom of God because most people think, I don’t need God.

I don’t need the Bible. I don’t need church. I don’t need somebody trying to tell me what I can and cannot do or where I can and cannot go and how I should or should not live. I’m smart enough on my own. And so Proverbs has a verse for that. There is a way that same with right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. So yes, God has all this for us and it will promote them.

Now look in chapter 5, chapter 5, and you’ll notice that in verse 21, for the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord. Do you think God’s watching you? There’s an eye up on high watching you. And he sees everything. He didn’t like my song. There is an eye up on high watching you. Oh, be careful little eyes what you see. Oh, be careful little hands what you do. Oh, be careful little feet where you go. There’s a father up above, looking down in tender love.

Oh, be careful little hands, eyes, nose, feet. What you do. So, I don’t have time for the whole song. I’ve got to shorten it down. But they are important things. Now look what he says here. In the last part of verse 21, and he pondered all his doings. In the word God sees what you’re doing, he knows why you do it. He knows where you are. He really knows, nobody knows where I am. Oh yeah, the Lord knows who you are.

He knows what’s going on in your life. And then he says this, in verse 22, his own iniquity shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holding with the cords of his sins. Artly there. I had one little thread. Can I break it? No problem. Get two of them, three of them, four of them, five. Okay, that’s enough. Now, but regards how many you get sooner or later, you can’t break it. So that’s what happens in a person’s life with making decisions.

You know, if you make the wrong decision, it’s easier to make the next wrong decision and the next wrong decision. If you want your wife to think you’re smart, make three smart decisions in a row. Very difficult, almost impossible. Because you see, she knows everything and she knows whether it was a right decision or not. So if you have a bad habit in your life, you see what’s the best way to break a habit? Drop it? Don’t that make sense?

Drop it. In other words, how do you get bad habits? Repetition. You keep doing the same thing over and over again and not learning. Hope them for a different result. And so if you just understand, if you develop the right habits in your life, it becomes easier because they are harder to break. You get in the habit of serving God and doing the right things, it becomes easier. Didn’t the Lord say, come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy, laden, and I will give you rest?

Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly and hard. So you see, It’s easy. It’s a light yoke. My yoke is easy. My burden is light. It’s hard because you haven’t been doing the right things long enough. Just get in the right habit of doing the right things and you’ll be surprised what it will do for you. Otherwise, as it says in the last part of verse 23, you’re going to go astray.

You’re going to go astray. Now look in chapter 6. I want to show you this in chapter 6. You have here, chapter 7 about a strange woman. You see there in chapter 7, and just look at it very quickly, it says in verse 5, that they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flatareth with her words. In another part it talks about be careful which catches you with her eyes. So if there’s anybody that knew women, it was Solomon, and telling you, but there is a comparison between the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God.

God compares the wisdom of God as a wonderful, wonderful woman who will serve you well and do right by you. It compares the wisdom of the world as the strange woman who’s going to do you in. So as a child of God you’re trying to decide between human wisdom and divine wisdom. And if you will do what God wants you to do, you’ll love the results of it. And if you don’t, you’re not going to like the results. So He uses an illustration of two women.

But He also tells you this is what you need to be aware of. When you try to steal the stolen waters, in other words, you try to refresh yourself with something that you don’t have a right to. Does the Bible say anywhere thou shalt not commit adultery? Anywhere in the Bible? Exodus? Somewhere like that? Chapter 20 maybe? The 10 commandments you ever heard of those? Those are not 10 suggestions. They’re commandments. Sometimes people do things wrong. So in order to help you see that look in Proverbs chapter 6.

Now in verse 23 gives us the word of God. For the commandment is a lamp and the law is light and reproofs of instruction are the way of life. God has given us his word to show us how to live. Now when we talk about how to go to heaven, well the word of God tells us all we need to do is trust Christ as our Savior. We are to believe that when Christ died, He died for us. He paid for our sins.

Why? Because He didn’t want us to pay for them. He paid for our sins and all He wants us to do is believe He did it for us and He will put the payment He made to our account. We go to heaven on what He did. You don’t earn it. You don’t work for it. You can’t buy it. It’s a gift. But when we talk about, well, I’m not in heaven yet. I still maybe have, I probably got 40, 50 years to live yet.

I plan on being the oldest man alive. I don’t want to live down here forever. I just want to live long enough to bury the rest of you, and then I’ll be ready to go. But you need a preacher that’s got to do your funeral, right? So, okay. So here in Proverbs in chapter 6, he says this in verse 24, to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Now, there is an application that can be applied here to the wisdom of this world.

The wisdom of this world has a pull upon you. It wants you to get what it wants you to have so it can destroy your life. And then you have the wisdom of God that’s after you. Hold your place right here and just turn over there to chapter nine. Chapter nine, in verse one of Proverbs, He says, wisdom, now this is the wisdom of God. Wisdom hath built at her house. She had hewn out her seven pillars. She had killed her bees.

She had mingled her wine and hath furnished her table. She has set forth her maiden. She’d cry from the highest place of the city, who so is simple, let him turn in hither. As for him that one, if understanding, she said to him, come and eat my bread. This is the wisdom of God that will give you understanding. Then there is the wisdom of the world, and you won’t get the understanding. You’re going to learn some hard lessons and how many of God’s children have ruined their lives because they listen to the wrong woman, the woman of the world.

And notice how it destroys. Go back there to Proverbs chapter 6. Proverbs chapter 6, and notice in verse 26, there it says, in verse 25, lust not after her beauty in thine heart, neither led her take thee with her eyelids. Now, women can learn a lot from this on how to catch a man. But we’re talking about not just a real woman with a real, you know, fortacious spirit trying to catch a man, but we’re talking about the wisdom of this world and how that it comes after you and tries to get you.

Now, notice, He says here in verse 26, For by means of a horse woman, a man is brought to a piece of bread. I mean, she can really bring it down and make a pauper out of you. But the wisdom of God can get so much for you. Do so much. The merchandise of godly wisdom can buy you eternal treasures in heaven for all eternity. But if you listen to the wrong woman, the woman of the world, the wisdom of the world, you’re going to spend all your life and have nothing when it’s over and suffer the consequences, the loss of rewards that you could have had for all eternity.

Do you see what I’m saying? Are you following me? I was going to say, would you wake him up? Last time I said that, he says, no, you put him to sleep, you wake him up. So now look back here in verse 26, and he said, and the adulterous will hunt for the precious life. You can spend all your life chasing soap bubbles. You know the little kids in the soap bubbles and you try to catch them and what do they do when you, as soon as it touches your hand, it pops and leaves you empty.

And there’s people that will chase their dreams. They will chase soap bubbles all their life and they’ll have nothing when it’s over. Like I said, the other Sunday, some people don’t like the person who climbs a ladder for 20 years and then find out it’s leaning on the wrong wall. In a wasted life, a wasted life. Look what else he says here. Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned? Can one go up on hot coals, feet not be burned?

In other words, there’s consequences to your decisions. There’s a price to pay. You put your hand in the fire and it’s going to get burned. And people play with fire and they don’t think they’re going to get burned. Well, that happened to everybody else, but I’m different. Yeah, you really are. You’re doing just like multitudes and multitudes of people who have lived and died before you when you chase the dreams of this world and not the wisdom of God.

Look what he said in verse 29. So he that goeth into his neighbor’s wife who so ever touches her shall not be innocent. Stealing something you’re not supposed to have. something that God says is forbidden. And then He says this, men do not despise the thief if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry. But if he be found, he shall restore seven fold. He shall give all the substance of his house. In other words, it’s going to clean you out.

There’s a price to pay for rebellion. So can a Christian sin after he saved? Yes. Is there a price to pay. Yes? And that’s why he’s saying all these things. That’s why you see it talks about in chapter 3 about the chasing of the Lord. And this is what he does. And there’s the reason that people rebel against God and go astray is because of the human wisdom. They don’t think it’ll happen to them. You’re not very bright. You’re not very smart.

See, if you were so smart And you were so wise, then why wouldn’t you serve God? A bright, smart, intelligent, spiritual, minded person would serve God, right? So a man who doesn’t is a fool. I like what Berbal Boudrom said down here.yll He said he was talking to a nafiest one day. And he says, you know, in the Bible, this got your name in it. He says, my name’s in the Bible. He says, sure is. Your name is in the Bible.

He said, show it to me. So he showed him a fool have said in his heart, there is no God. There’s your name, fool. I like that. So your name is in the Bible if you don’t do what God says. Isn’t it a shame that all of God’s children don’t just serve the Lord, it would be so wonderful. But they don’t, they got lessons to learn. Look what else he says down here. Look what he says in verse. 32, you have to have desire and you have to have opportunity.

The desire is in every person. There is an old sinful nature. The lust of the flesh. There’s your desire. And if you don’t have the strength of character to control those desires, they become like little monsters and destroy your life. that knows what else he says. He says in verse 31, but if he be found he shall restore seven folk, he shall give all the substance of his house, but who so committed the adultery with a woman lack of understanding.

He that doeth it, destroyed his own soul. So there is results of adultery. See God looks at it this way concerning his children Israel when they went a-horring after other gods. That it’s not actually committed in adultery, but God says that when you left Him and went after other gods, it’s like spiritual fornication. It’s like living with another woman. You have forsaken your vows, you’re not doing what’s right, and there’s a price to pay, and it brought the tasting hand of God.

So what was the penalty? There was a death penalty. He has wounded and he’s weakened. See what he says here in verse 33, a wound and dishonor shall he get. Now you think for a moment, you go ahead and decide I’m not going to serve God and I’m not going to study his word because studying the Bible is getting the wisdom of God. And if you don’t you’ll have the wisdom of man. You only can be as smart as a man can be.

He says, you’re going to be wounded. You’re going to be weakened. And that’s what he’s talking about. You’re going to bring dishonor to yourself. You’re going to ruin your testimony. You’re going to be brought down. So he makes this statement also. In the last part of verse 33, and his reproach shall not be wiped away. In other words, let’s say for example, and you know almost all of your movies on TV is about a triangle. You know, boy loves girl.

Girl loves other boy too. Oh boy loves girl. Now the boy loves another boy too. But anyway, they can get to be a triangle and somebody run off of somebody’s wife and you know you have all these country songs where somebody said in the bar, no cheer drops be the chaser before your wine. But you’ve got a body that’s got flesh, it’s got desires. They want to be satisfied. And so this is what all you’re ever telling by trying to lure, lure, bait.

And some people, unless you’re strong enough and you want the will of God more than you want the will of the flesh, you’re going to have this battle back and forth in your life. So he says is here a wound and dishonor and a reproach shall not be wiped away. If some man takes somebody’s wife the damage is done and it hurts the man so much that his wife was unfaithful but also that the man who did the wrong, especially if the man was right in innocent, like God said, look, to Israel, how have I failed you?

You read the first chapter of the book of Isaiah and it’ll break your heart. He says, you’re sick from the head to the toe. There’s no soundness in you whatsoever. So later on, he says, come now and let us reason together, saith the Lord, and though your sins be as car, they shall be as woolen. And So here you have all these things that are going on. And the things that God says when a man violates a woman and steals something from another man, he has heard, he’s wounded, damages done, marriages are broke up, kids, it’s a shame Ukraines, it really is.

But it’s all because of the wisdom of the world, not believe in what God says, not staying strong in the scripture. You do not know how fast you will fall if you take your eyes off the Lord. It can happen so quick. And your testimony, right. But now notice what else he says here. Look in verse 31, jealousy. See, her husband is going to be jealous in the rage of a man. And this is why sometimes people want to kill somebody else.

And a lot of people I think, and some of these drive-by shootings, somebody running off of somebody, these country singers, and they’re sitting on the barroom and singing all these songs. Somebody didn’t run off with somebody, somebody did this, and a bit of a sorrowful, pitiful things. But it wouldn’t be nice to know what God says and try to make some wise decisions for your life. So He says here, he will not spare in the day of vengeance because a man will want to get even.

It’s very difficult to forget and you can forgive, but it’s difficult to forget and it can cause such distrust between a man and a woman. It can destroy marriages. But also realize that this is a good illustration on the wisdom of God and the wisdom of man and how this was going to hurt and wound you. You may not think it will, but that’s because a person’s been foolish not really thinking it through. So he says here in verse 35, he will not regard any ransom, neither will he rest content, though thou give us many gifts.

You can never undo the damages done when adultery is committed. It’s a sin, it’s wrong, it’s wicked. So this is why he makes this statement and look there in chapter 7. My son keep my words, lay up my commandments with thee, keep my commandments and live and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the tables of thine heart, say unto wisdom, thou art my sister in call understanding thy kinswoman, that they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the strange of which flat earth with her words.”

And he talks about in this rest of this whole chapter, how the wisdom of the world captures a person. And that’s why you have such a strong urge for the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life. You want to be something, you want to have something, you want to do something. But when should trust Christ is to save, you should be asking the Lord. Lord, what do you want me to be? What do you want me to do?

Where do you want me to go? And you trade all of your wisdom for God’s. If you will, you’ll win. If you don’t, great price to pay, but most people ruin their lives. It’s not because they go out here and literally commit adultery and think, this is they don’t serve God. This most foolish thing a man can ever do is not to do the will of God for his life. Look up here. This is the will of God on how to go to heaven.

Want to go to heaven? This is what God says about how to go to heaven. How many of you know you’re going to heaven? Raise your hand, let me see. All right, put it down. How many of you are going to help? No, no, no. One of the other days I’m going to do that and a whole bunch of people are going to raise your hand. And I don’t want to embarrass anybody. I really don’t. This is you and me.

The wall of represents sin. We all have sin on us. God loves us. We hate what we do wrong, but He loves us. And because He loves us so much, He had to do something for us. You see, the payment for sin is death, and He didn’t want us to make it. That’s the eternal separation from God. God didn’t want us to be separated from Him. But He can’t let us come to heaven because He heaven is a perfect place, and because of sin we can’t get in.

That’s why we need to save you. This hand represents Jesus Christ. the Lord God in the flesh came into this world because He loves us. He hates our sin, but He loves us. But our sin separates us from the Lord. So the Bible says He can’t get to me and I can’t get to Him. He says in Isaiah, your sins have separated us. So Jesus Christ, who had no sin, didn’t have to die. But the only way He could get to us, He has to remove So Christ took all the sin, paid for it on the cross, came back from the dead.

And He says, if I would believe He did it for me, He says, I will accept you. So He asks you, will you accept me? So we accept each other. And I am joined together with the Lord. See, eternal life is together. Means it can never have death, can be separated. before because of sin I would be eternally separated from God. He did all of this because He wants me to be with Him for all eternity. And then on top of that He’s built a new heavens and a new earth and a holy city, just for me.

But now if you want to go to heaven and live with me you’ll have to do what I did to get there. Now he didn’t do it just for me. He did it for the whole world, everybody. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever, believe it in him, when you believe it. That payment is put to your account as though you made it. I paid for my sins. I don’t have any sense to pay for it.

He paid for all my sins. That’s why I can’t go to hell today. I can’t go to hell tomorrow. I can never go to hell. Why? Because I don’t have any sense to pay for it. He paid for all of them. and gives me as a free gift eternal life. And I go to heaven on what Jesus Christ did for me. That’s the best news in all the world. Let’s pray, shall we? With heads bowed and eyes closed, no one looking around.

If you’re here tonight and you’ve never trusted Christ as your Savior, why not right now? Just talk to the Lord and say, Lord, I don’t understand it all. I know I’ve done things wrong. I realize that heaven is perfect and I’m not. And I’ve heard Jesus Christ out on that cross paid for my sins. So right now I will trust Him as my only hope of going to heaven. Friend God said, if you’d trust Him, He’d save you. And you can know that you’re going to heaven whenever you die.

Best news in the world. Would you trust Him right now? If you will, I’m gonna ask in just a moment for you to raise your hand. It’s just to let me know. I’d like to have prayer for you. I really would. And so I’m not gonna embarrass you. I’m not gonna have you forward. But right where you’re sitting. You said, preach of that made sense to me. I will trust Christ as my Savior tonight. Would you just slip it up very quickly and put it right back down?

Yes, God bless you, God bless you. Anyone else? You may have heard it a thousand times, but maybe you just never trust the Lord. Anyone else before we close? If you trust Christ right now as your Savior, God saves you right now and gives you eternal life right now. When you get up to leave, you can say, I’m going to heaven when I die. Tonight I trust the Christ as my Savior and it gives me eternal life. If it’s eternal life, it lasts forever.

If it lasts forever and all you send are paid, where would you only die, the heaven? Best news in the world. If you’re watching by internet, let us know just by clicking on the, yes, I will trust Christ as my savior. And if you’ll do that, we’d like to know it. Our Father, we thank you again for your blessings. Thank you for this night, for the truth found in your word, and Father for these that indicated by an uplifted hand that they would trust you as savior.

By doing so, they become your child, your child forever. And you said in your word, you’d never cast them out, never lose them. And Father, we thank You for their decision. It’s the smartest thing they could ever do. Only a fool would turn down a free gift. So Father, we ask Your blessings upon each one of us. Help us to realize that, yes, we can make decisions. We can make good decisions and we can make bad decisions. But we’re still Your child.

You still love us. You’ll never cast us out and never lose us. But there’s some great consequences. bless each one of us. We pray for wisdom that we need and Christ.
