Number 9, number 9. You can come to Jesus the way you are, But you cannot remain saved if you continue to live in the condition in which you came to him. Well don’t you know the Bible says that every man in Christ, he’s a new creature, a new creation. All things are passed away and all things have become new. In other words, once you’re saved, you’re not going to want to do all those things anymore. They could be a change in your life.
See, all that sounds so good. But it is blinded to people when they have to face reality. Every person in this room, when you trust in Christ as your Savior, you’re a growth in the Lord. You’re a love for the Lord. It was not automatic. It’s because you’ve walked and you’ve stumbled and you’ve got up and you’ve learned to grow a little bit in the Lord, and you begin to apply the scriptures to your life and you learn how to walk.
But that’s not to be saved. to be saved and that wasn’t automatic. And some of God’s children never learned to walk with the Lord. And so there’s people who become automatic fruit inspectors. They get out their magnifying glass and they’re examining everybody. Of course they never examined themselves. They’re good enough. They see all of your sins, your bad things that you’re doing. Well, I know she’s not saved because if she was saved, she wouldn’t do that. Well, she’s doing that.
So if she didn’t do that, She would be saved. So if a lost man was to do the same thing and not do that, he would be saved too. Now, the only way you know in person is saved is you’ve got to find out what are you trusting in to get you to heaven. Did you trust the Lord? Now look in Hebrews chapter 12 and verse 5. Hebrews chapter 12. And you’ll notice that there’s something that God does for his wonderful little darlings because he loves you so much.
His child has done all these bad things and you get rid of whoop him and he says, what sins are you talking about? Don’t remember them anymore. I’m gonna help you to recall every last one of them after I knock you to the floor but anyway after you trust Christ is your Savior. I’ve somebody’s over here. I really like, they laugh at my jokes.
But here in the book of Hebrews in chapter 12, look what he says in verse 5, and ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children. Not all of God’s children always remember everything you’re supposed to remember. They don’t always recall what God’s word says. One of the reasons in the Old Testament, God says in the Psalms, He says that the children of Israel will whip over and over and over again because they kept forgetting. You forgot, you forgot.
But God remembers but you forgot. And so He says here, my son despised not thou the chastening of the Lord nor faint when thou art rebutative him. Well wait a minute, well if you’re really say, you’re not going to want to go out here and do all those bad things, so you’re not going to be disobedient. So why would God have to chasten disobedient children if after they’re saved they’re not going to be disobedient? But evidently they are saved.
And they are disobedient and the Heavenly Father does love His children. And so God is going to chasten you. Can you live as you please and get away with it? No. Can you live as you please? Yeah, you can be as rebellious as you want to be. And your heavenly Father will let you choose whatever sin you want to participate in. And God will decide what kind of punishment he’s gonna deliver. So you got a choice and God’s got a choice.
Your heavenly Father who loves you is going to chase in you and discipline you because He loves you and you cannot live as you please and get away with it. You can try, but how can you win? If God’s Word says something, don’t you remember? Why would you forget something important like that? That’s one of the most important things to remember. If I don’t do right, my daddy’s gonna hook me. But if I love him in serving and honor him, respect my father.
He said he would bless my life and he would reward me when I get to heaven. So what do you want? You want the blessings of God on your life? Rewards when you get to heaven? Or do you want me to beat the tar out of you while you’re here and maybe take you home before your time? See, once you’re a child of God, you’re always a child of God. You can never be condemned in the future. But let’s keep moving along here.
We’re doing very, very well. We’re moving right along. So here in Hebrews chapter 12 verse 5, he says, despised not by the chasing of the Lord, for whom in verse 6, for whom the Lord loveth, he does what? Chasing him, scourge at every son whom he received it. Is it because he’s got some children that are not doing right, evidently? And you’ll hear people say, well, if you’re really saved, you’re not going to want to go out here and do all those bad things.
That’s fake news. You see, once you trust Christ as Savior, say, you were a child of the devil going to hell. Now you’re a child of God going to heaven. This is what’s changed. All this is new. I have a new birth. I’m going to get me a new body one of the day, but right now I’ve got to live inside of this old body. The Word of God is true. Look at number 10. Jesus requires confession, repentance, and a turning away from your evil ways in order to be saved.
Now there’s nothing wrong with that. You ought to know good people ought to go to heaven. You ought to stop all your bad stuff. You know that. Don’t you know that? It’s number 10, true or false? Oh, that was hard. Ephesians 2, 8, 9. If you know it, quote it with me. For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast.” Well, that’s what the Bible says.
Titus 3.5 just has a little brief part of it that says that we have been saved by his grace and not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved. Saved is past tense. I’ve already been saved You see I’m not seeking to be saved. Why because I already am I’m not trying to keep out of hell why because I can’t go to hell. I’ve already been saved from hell You see I can’t go to hell because I don’t have any sins to pay for What sins are you talking about?
I’m getting where I like that little tune number 11 number 11 accepting Jesus doesn’t automatically make you a chalel of God. To live it is to have it. False. False. But I do want you to see this because it’s so important. Look there in 1 Corinthians chapter 11, 1 Corinthians chapter 11. And you’ll notice there in verse 30 talking to the disobedient children here in the book of Corinthians. They were some carnal, carnal believers. So he says in verse 30, for this cause, many, and he’s not talking about lost people, he’s talking about those that are believers.
For many believers aren’t weak and sickly among you, and many sleep means are dead. So they died in in the face. But why? Well, because they did some things they did not correct in their life. Now here you are. I got away with it so far. Yes, so far. It ain’t over till it’s over and it ain’t over yet. Look what he says in verse 31. For if we, as believers, would judge ourselves we should not be judged. If you will correct the areas in your life that needs to be corrected.
This is why you studied the Bible so you gain discernment. You can discern whether what you’re doing or not doing is obedience or disobedience and correct it yourself. Don’t we love it when we were little kids and then become those rebellious teenagers and then we finally matured. We got it all together. And then I don’t remember where they put it. Don’t you like the idea of making your own decisions without somebody telling you all the time? It’s called maturing where you can discipline yourself without having to be disciplined.
Where you can handle adult responsibilities. Well, this is what God wants His children to do. And so you examine yourself because if you don’t, God will. If you don’t correct the problem, God will. And you may not like the way God does it. So make up your mind. I’m a child of God and I want to please my heavenly Father. But because God says, because you didn’t do it, I cannot condemn you with the world, see what he says in verse 30, but when we are judged by the Lord, we are chastened by the Lord that we should not be condemned with the world.
So you can’t go to hell, but God can chase in His children. And so therefore every child of God should serve Him and honor Him. And if you don’t do it, you’re heavenly Father. Many are sick, many are weak and some are dead. God can take you home because of disobedience. Look at the next one, number 12. Jesus will save you just the way you are. Sorry, not true. Only those who do His will by turning from sin and making Him Lord of their lives are accepted.
Did you know that most churches, their people cannot pass this? They couldn’t do this. You can do this because you hear the clarity of the gospel week after week after week. Don’t take it for granted. Well everybody knows that. No, they don’t know this. They don’t understand this. Majority of preachers cannot pass this. They don’t get it. Now I want you to take your Bible and turn to 2 Timothy 2, 2 Timothy 2. The reason for this is because it will answer a lot of questions.
2 Timothy 2. When you hear preachers tell you that you’ve got to turn from your sins to be saved. If you’ve got to turn from your sins to be saved, okay, which ones? How many? For how long? And would they all agree on what sins they are? Because if you had to turn from your sins, shouldn’t he all agree on exactly which ones or how many there are? I’ll bet you they can’t agree on them. Well you’ve got to be willing to be willing.
Chapter and verse, they don’t have chapter and verse. But what I want you to see is this, look in verse 19, nevertheless the foundation of God stand is sure. What is this foundation that’s so sure? The Lord knoweth them that are what? That are his. You see, when I trusted Christ as my savior 56 and a half years ago, I was born into God’s family. Do you think God remembers me? He’s the one that saved me. He’s the one that gave me birth.
I was born of God. He’s my daddy. I may forget my daddy, but my daddy won’t forget me. And not only that. Then he makes the statement in the last part of that. and let everyone that nameeth the name of Christ see those next two words, depart from iniquity. When does a child of God depart from iniquity? Before he saved or after he saved? After you’re saved. But when you tell a lost man, he has to stop his sins, means stop being bad, then you just told him to do something before he’s born.
He ain’t born yet. Let me ask you a question. this is going to be hard for some y’all to get. When do you put the diaper on the baby before it’s born or after it’s born? I went over your head tonight. Somebody says, no, don’t put that on film. So to tell a person that you’ve got to turn from your sins is ask him to do something that’s totally impossible. Turning from sin takes power, steering, they don’t have the power yet.
Depart from iniquity is to the child of God. Once you’re born into God’s family. Now let me show you the other one. Look in the book of Romans in chapter 12. The book of Romans, chapter 12, this is very, very important. Because once you see this, it opens up the scriptures. It’s so easy to see it, so easy to understand. In Romans chapter 12, look what he says, IBC chew therefore. What’s that word? You think that’s believers or unbelievers?
Well, my y’all are so smart. Y’all are just simply intelligent, talking to believers. What’s he asking these believers to do? I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God that you present your body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. Service, did you see the word service? Is this talking about salvation or service? Well lo and behold, you’ve got to be talking about service. And what’s he asking them to do? Present your body as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God.
Is this to the saved man or to the lost man? To the saved man. So you don’t tell a lost man that he has to commit his life to Christ that he has to present his body and put Christ on the throne of his life and make him the Lord in the man. Master of his life. No, that’s fake news. Salvation is a gift, totally free. So after a man is saved, yes, he should depart from equity. And so he got to teach him and help him and walk with him and all the things that we go through with all of y’all.
And if we want you to serve the Lord, it’s not just what you don’t do, it’s what you do. So now we got to get you to serve the Lord, present your body as a living sacrifice. Now we’re not telling you to do this to be saved. This is for service. See, the scriptures are clear. It’s people who mess it up, muddy it up. Makes me mad. Give me a headache. Number 13, once you are saved, you will not desire to live in sin any longer.
You ever heard that? That’s false. I’ve heard people say that. Well, when you’re saved, you’re not going I want to live in sin anymore. Well, this very verse, walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh because you still got him. Every person in this room who can state, yes, I have trusted Christ as my Savior. I know I’m saved. I know I’m going to heaven when I die. Still have the lust of the flesh.
Is your eye don’t? Let me talk to your wife. Yes, you do. you are capable of every sin in the book. You name the sin and you’re capable. Only by the grace of God, by the restrictions you put upon yourself and the discipline that you have, the restraints that you have, or you’d fall just as fast as anybody else. And this is why you always got to walk like a cat on a fence with barking dogs on both sides.
It’s called walking circumspectly. You better watch your step. And why does he tell you to take heed? Lest you think you lift it up. I can’t fall. I can’t fall. There he goes. Lest he fall. So keep in mind. Look at number 14. You can tell if a person is really say by the way they live. No, it says in 1 John chapter 1 that if you say you have no sin, you lie. So isn’t living in sin the way you live?
Is that wrong? Evidently, every person here is still capable of living in sin. Living in rebellion, living in disobedience, every child of God. But if you’ll correct your problem, you can walk with the Lord. You see, this is your first birth, this is your second birth. And if you walk in the Spirit, you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh, still got him. You’re going to have this old man until the day you die. God didn’t change your old sinful nature.
He gave you a new birth with a new nature. But you still got the old nature and they fight all the time. And just because you walk in the Spirit doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist. And if you walk in the flesh doesn’t mean this one doesn’t exist. So keep that in mind. to the next one. Number 15, the person cannot lose his salvation, but he can give it back. Oh yeah, you can give it back. I mean, he won’t take it away from you, but if you don’t want it anymore, he’ll just give it back to you.
And when they say that, after the chapter and verse, and then you can show them over there in John 10, 28, where it says, and I give them to them eternal life and no man shall pluck them out of my hand. It means even you You can’t pluck yourself out of you. You can’t pluck yourself out. You can’t get out of it. In other words, if you’ve already trusted Christ’s Savior, you’re going to heaven like it or not. Now, can you see somebody being upset about that?
You’re going to heaven. I’m so glad I have a thermal security. Look at the next statement. Number 17, living by grace means that there are no consequences for disobedience. consequences. And when he makes a statement in Galatians in chapter 6 verse 7 also in verse 9 it says be not deceived, God is not mocked for whatsoever means soeth that shall he also reap. So if you sow as a child of God, if you sow to the flesh, You’re going to reap the chasing hand of God.
And if you’re so the spirit, you’re going to reap the love, the joy, the peace and happiness and long stuff and gentleness and goodness and faith, and temperance and so forth. You can reap that. And when you get to heaven, you’re going to reap some more. Good. Look down the road. Don’t sow wild oats and then pray for crop failure. You’re going to reap what you sow. Be wise. Be careful. Now look at the next one. Number 70, if salvation is truly by grace, it can be.
cannot be by works. Finally, you got one right. True. Ephesians 2, 8, and 9, two of my favorite verses in the Bible. If it is by grace, it cannot be by works. No man can earn it. You can’t work for it. Number 18, eternal security is not a separate doctrine in the gospel. It is the gospel. In John chapter 5 verse 24 when he says, he that believeth of them, he hath everlasting life and shall not in the future and shall not come into condemnation means you can never be condemned again.
Never be condemned. Why? Because when Christ paid for my sins, he paid for all of my sins. All of my debt has been paid. So I have no more debt to pay. I cannot be condemned, impossible. That’s why eternal security is one of the prettiest words I’ve ever heard because if you’re not eternally secure, you’re not secure and so therefore you can know you have eternal life. Number 19 Christ loved you so much he would rather die for you than live without you.
True or false? That is true. First Corinthians 15-3, how that Christ died for our sins and rose again. He died for our sins. The the best news in all the world. So number 20, you cannot know you’re going to heaven until you know that you cannot go to hell. That is true, and here’s why. Because the new birth is based upon the incorruptible word of God. My new birth was born from the incorruptible seed. My first birth, my flesh birth was born from a sinful seed which was, I got it from my parents.
You got yours from your parents and all the way back. So that’s why because it’s corruptible, that’s why you’re going to die. I’m gonna die. And if we don’t, we’re not gonna get up there. So we don’t deny death and don’t fight it so bad. Just be, just be thankful that, man, whenever I die, I’m going to heaven. I don’t fear death. If I was over in that hospital, or if I died, praise the Lord, the best thing could ever happen is drop dead.
I’m going to heaven when I die. Now, I want to stay just a little bit longer because I want to stay long enough to bury y’all because you need a preacher, you know. And then he ain’t gonna be Bob Gilbert. I want to do his. But tomorrow’s good. Alright, now look up here. Look up here. I want all eyes up here watching me. This hand represents you and me. The wallet represents sin. We all have sin on us. The Bible says that God loves us, but He hates our sin.
And because we have all sinned, then we’re all condemned. We’re all guilty. And the wages of sin is death, eternal separation from God, inhale. To go to heaven, God says you have to be perfect. It writes us God, no sin. Because if we went to heaven with sin, heaven would be turned into a big old sinful place. Like it did down here. And so God said, not even one. You got to be perfect to go to heaven, and nobody’s perfect.
So how are we going to get there? God says, you can’t earn your weight. You can’t buy your way. You can’t get there. It’s impossible. So what Jesus did was something that He would do for us because we could not do it for ourselves. God says, you cannot save yourself. This hand represents Jesus Christ. He’s the Lord God in the flesh. He came into this world because He loves us. Now He hates our sin, but He loves us. But our sin separates us from Him.
So Jesus Christ who had no sin didn’t have to die. So in order to show us how much He loved us, He would rather die just to give us the opportunity to go to heaven. It doesn’t mean everybody’s going to heaven just because He paid for all of our sins. You see, He paid for the sins of the whole world, came back from the dead. And He said, who so ever would believe? You would not perish because this payment would be put to your account.
You have a payment for your sins and you will not go to hell to pay for sin because I’m already paid for your sins. We get to go to heaven because of what he did for us. That’s a gift, that’s free. God loves us so much he would rather do this than live without us. You are loved. We are so loved, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. The whosoever believes, it’s all He requires, should not perish.
He won’t go to hell. But have everlasting life. Now if it’s everlasting life, now this is a difficult question. How long would it last? Forever. And when He gives you everlasting life and all of your sins are paid, where would you go when you die? So can you know you’re going to heaven before you die? I know I’m going to heaven. And it’s not because I’m good, because I’m no better than you are. We’re all sinners. We’ve all come short of God’s perfection.
But because God loves us and paid for our sins, we that are going to heaven, the only reason we’re going to heaven, because we believe Christ died for our sins. Not because of anything that we’ve done, because Christ died for our sins. That’s the only reason we get to go to heaven. And that’s the best news in all the world. And think of how many people have heard this all their life and don’t understand it. Let’s pray, shall we?
With heads bowed, knives, clothes, and no one looking around. If you’re here today and you’ve never trusted Christ your Savior, would you trust Him? Would you just talk to the Lord and say something simple like this, Lord? I know I’m a sinner. I believe that when Christ died, I believe He died for me, that He paid for my sins. And I will accept Him as my Savior’s my only hope of going to heaven. And when God said, if you’d trust Him, He’d save you, give eternal life.
You can know that you’re going to heaven. And I want to have prayer for you. And I’m going to ask you in just a moment to raise your hand. Raising your hand does not save you. It just let’s me know that what I said made sense to you in your same preacher, I believe it. I believe it. And I’m going to heaven because I’ve trusted Christ as my Savior this morning. Would you just let me know by just slipping in it very quickly and put it right back down?
Yes, God bless you, but anyone else. There’s no tricks to it. Just slip it up real quick, put it right right back down. Yes, God bless you. Anyone else? Just very quickly slip it up. Not going to pin against the wall, not going to embarrass you in any way, not going to have you come forward. I just want to have prayer for you when I close. I just like knowing that somebody understood and trusted the Lord. Anyone else before we close?
Our Father, we are thankful, thankful Lord that we got such a wonderful message that we can tell. And we pray Lord for those that indicated, I’d uplifted hand this morning that they would accept you as their Savior by doing so you guaranteed them eternal life. When they get up to lead they can say, I know I’m going to heaven because Christ died for my sins. And I don’t have any sins to pay for. And Father, we thank you so much for all of them.
And for those that are watching by internet can just very easily just click on the screen and say, yes, I will trust Christ as my Savior. We thank you for all you’ve done for us. And all those many things that needs to be done. And for the opportunity you’ve given us, we thank you for that. Christ, and we pray, amen. Are you a new listener to Bibleline?
