All these preachers that tell you you’ve got to turn from your sin, they haven’t. You mean they don’t sin no more? What if you got a turn from all your sins? All of them really have you? You mean they don’t sin anymore? Well, I’ve had people say, well, if you really say you’re not going to want to go out here and do all those bad things. Well so far it looks like everybody does, because everybody sins. Oh, me. What a world.

Now look at the next verse, verse 16 here. Therefore it is of faith, get this, that it might be by what? Grace to the end of promise might be sure to all the sea. See the only way salvation can be sure, and you can be sure of being saved from hell, and sure of going to heaven is it has to be by grace. Because if it had to be by your works, well, then it can’t be sure, because that depends on you.

But if it depends on Christ, well, they can be sure, because he doesn’t lie. You know what I’m saying, can y’all really follow me? Or you know, all, all, all, all, all, and, you know what I did one time? This is off to cuff. There’s no extra charge with this. At Northside up there, they had a, they had a, a, a, a lady’s banquet. And I don’t know why in the world I, I let Milton and my brother, little man, taught me into this.

But we decided to crash their lady’s party. We did. We all three dressed up like women. Now I never do this again, but we dressed up like women. I don’t know if I was a blonde or what I was, I just dressed up. And in all three of us, I remember I had a red dress. And I’d say, you know, see the guy with a red dress on? But anyway, and Milton was our mama. And a little man, well, he was my sister.

So we meant his two girls. I was Lulu and he was Lala, so Lulu and Lala, it was so funny. And we actually did some kind of a skit and sung a song, but we had so much fun. You see, what’s I got to do with this? Not a thing. I can’t even think of a point. But you got to enjoy life a little bit. I looked out there and I must have saw something that made me think about that.

Oh, I said the word Lulu. That was a lulun-la-la. Anyway, down at the bottom of the page, the bottom of the page, this shows why God saved Abraham by grace through faith. This was the only way that the promise that heathen could be justified by faith might be sure or guaranteed permanent eternal to all the seed. Those that were saved during Abraham’s time, those saved unto the law And those saved after the law, he’s the father of us all.

Co we’re all saved the same way. When I trust the Christ as my Savior, is God become my Father? When you trust the Christ as God become your Father? Well, that’s the same thing with all the rest of them. And God becomes the Father, but here he’s talking about Abraham is the Father. Have you heard that little song, Father Abraham? But Betty does that real good, and Father Abraham, she does something, she’s down with the kids and something like that.

I can’t do it because I get on, but I can’t get up. But anyway, I just move on. All right, page two. Page two, we’re moving right along there. Now look at the top of the page here, Romans chapter four, and we’re looking at verse 17. Now look what verse 17 says, as it is written, when it says as it is written, where’s that supposedly written?

Revelation? Old Testament. Alright, as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, even God, who quickenedeth the dead, and called off those things which be not as though they were. In other words, when God says something because he’s God and he knows the future from the beginning, he can say, this is and it is. If it will be, it is as far as God can. God is concerned. So when I trusted Christ as my Savior, God has already declared me righteous.

I can’t get any more righteous than I am. He’s already justified me. I can’t get any more justified. He sanctified me, made me pure and holy and set me apart. I belong to the Lord and I can’t get any more. Now one of these days I’m going to drop this old body to kind of sag on me a little bit and I’m going to be glad when I get rid of it. But you see, already sees me in Christ.

Now you see me here. God sees me in His Son. And I’m seated in the heavenlies. That’s how sure this all is because see God sees things as it will be. But because it can’t be in the other way, it will be that way. And so I can have my confidence, my assurance. Now look at the next verse here. Verse 18, who against hope believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations according to that which was spoken, so shall thy seed be.

Now we’re talking about Abraham and how that Abraham was an old man and by the time he was 99 years old, Sarah decides okay she’s finally gonna have this young man and at 90 years old she has a baby. Abraham father’s a child and they had already 25 years before his body was already past been able to have children because it says they were already old and good havesant but God wanted to make sure 25 more years later and they had to wait until God was ready because see this child was like a miracle child he was a faith child because Abraham believed God.

Now get what he says here in verse 18 who against hope in other words physically it was impossible and in the It’s like Isaac was a miracle child, but he was not born by the will of the mom and the dad. God had to miraculously heal their bodies so they could have a child. And this is a type of your new birth. And this is a miracle. See, when you trust the crisis, your Savior, your new birth is a miracle.

You are a miracle. Just by the fact that you’re God’s, that’s a miracle. Because you couldn’t produce that new birth. God can. Now, give what else he says in verse 19, and being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body, not dead. When he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb, he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God. Being fully persuaded that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

In other words, this miracle child performed by God. And this is an awesome thing, when you stop and think, they believe what God said and God brought forth. And because it’s all by faith, taking God to this word, this child that was born also was the line through which, remember that he wanted to use Ishmael in God’s his know, it’s going to be too Isaac, and Isaac gone down the road, and then you have David and Jesus Christ, and he came with that line of that seed, and that’s why that is so important.

And if Christ had not come and Christ had not died, nobody would have been saved. Nobody could have ever been saved. This was the only way anybody could have ever been saved. There is no option B or see. No other way. Now get this. The next statement here, this does not only refer to Isaac being born, but that the seed Christ through whom the nations of the earth would be blessed would come through his yet to be born miracle child.

Now, God could not and cannot save a man simply because he believed he is going to have a son or that God was going to miraculously give him a son. All people must be, can only be saved the same way, and that is by believing the same thing. They look forward to the son that would come, which was the Messiah, the seed. And we look back to the son that has come, and therefore we’re both saved exactly the same way by faith, taking God at His Word, and all the sacrifices that they made under the law, None of those sacrifices paid for sin.

That was to appease God’s anger until the sun came to be that payment, the lamb, to pay for the sins of the world. Now get the next statement. Isaac was a type of the resurrection coming from the dead. Even God who quickened the dead, he considered not his own body now dead, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. So, man, see, we’re separated from God, so we’re dead. But when we put our faith and trust in the Lord, then God saves us, and we are quickened or made alive.

You’re spiritually made alive. You’re God’s child now. Now look here in the next verse, Romans chapter 4. This is a very important verse. Romans 4 and verse 22. And therefore, it was imputed to Him for righteousness. Now, it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, but for us also. Now, whenever we read the first part of this, therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. God imputed his righteousness to Abraham because of his faith.

Then turns right around and says, no, it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him. but look at the next part of the verse 24, but for who? Us also on this side of the cross, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the other words, we’re believing the same thing. They had to believe. And so God’s righteousness was put to their account, just like His righteousness has put our account.

And so we’re all saved the same way. Look at the next statement. The verse that I want to show you right here is in that verse 22, but for us also to whom it shall be imputed if we believe on Him. Then the next statement, notice that the righteousness that was imputed but to His account, making Him righteous fit for eternity to Abraham is the same righteousness that shall be imputed to us if we believe in the death, barrel, and a resurrection of Jesus, our Lord, as the payment for our sin, not just anyone named Jesus.

It’s got to be the one that was God’s Son that God raised from the dead. So there’s some people who say, well, you don’t have to really know too much about Jesus and what He did. You just need to just believe in Jesus for eternal life. It’s all you have to do, but it’s not all you need to know. You got to know why are you trusting Him? Why don’t I just trust Trent to save me? I mean, does it really matter?

It’s long I’m gonna trust Trent to give me eternal life. But there could be a couple problems with that, right? One is he don’t have it to give. And why should I trust him? What have you done lately? You walked on water lately, performed in the Americas? I don’t think so. No. Just leave your notes here for a minute. I want you to take your Bible and go to the book of Hebrews. The book of Hebrews, and I want you to look there in Hebrews chapter seven, because we’re talking about getting something that is sufficient for us.

Whatever the gospel is, the gospel has to make you qualified to go into heaven. So let’s say right now and you look up here at me okay I’m an old center and I’m guilty and somebody gives me the gospel and I trust Christ as my Savior right now am I ready to go to heaven right now because I go to heaven right now if I haven’t done anything I didn’t join the church I haven’t been baptized I’ve been signed the card didn’t walk and I’ll then confess Christ before men I’m done in I just trust the Christ my Savior am I good to go yes I am and that’s because the gospel is the power of God unto salvation.

It can save you right then and there that moment. Now just so that you see that there, you see there in Hebrews in chapter 5, look what he says here in verse 9, and being made perfect, talking about Christ, he became the author of what kind of salvation, eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. That means what does it say do to be saved? We’ll believe on him, trust him. So, obeying means to trust Him to believe on Him.

Now look what He says in chapter 7 and verse 11. If therefore, because if you have to be perfect to go to heaven, then there ought to be a verses in the Bible that says where you got to be perfect and how? In verse 11. If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood for under the people received the law. If you could be made perfect under the law, then you don’t need anything else. You just have to earn it.

Well, but the thing is, is you can’t earn it. Look down here what he says in verse 16. Who is made, talking about Melchizedek, who is made not under or not after the law of a carnal commandment, or talking about Christ, I should say. He says, but after the power of an endless life, this reference to Melchizedek in these verses, but also referring here to Jesus Christ, he has the power of an endless life in Melchizedek, didn’t have a beginning, didn’t have an ending.

And so it was, uh, perfect representative of Christ himself. But now look what we have in verse 19. Verse 19, auto-undulant it in your Bible. For the law made how much perfect? If you have to be perfect to go to heaven, the law made how much perfect? Nothing. What he says? The law made nothing perfect but the bringing in of a better hope did. So something else could make you perfect but the law could not make you perfect. And if you have to be perfect to go to heaven, well, the law isn’t going to help you none.

The law condemns you. The law does not save you. The law does not forgive you. The law has no compassion. The law has no love. The law has no understanding. The law in law and it condemns. And so this is why we need something that’s better than this. Better that’s based upon something of a better promises. Now look what he says in verse 6 of chapter 8. He says in verse 6, but now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant which was established upon better promises.

In other words it’s based upon God promising to save you because of the payment he makes, not the payment you have to make. And so this is a second one. Now look there also in Hebrews in chapter 9 and look in verse 9 and you’ll see the word figure like it talks about you know Abraham receiving his son if he was to have to slay his son he’d receive him in a figure he’d be resurrected but look in verse 9 which was a figure for the time then present and which were offered both gifts and sacrifices get the that could not make him that did the service what so whatever he did under the law they could not become perfect in what they did so that’s why you find out there’s going to be something better so he says here in verse 11 but Christ being coming high praise of

good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle made with hands that is to say, not of this building. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the Holy Spirit, having obtained what kind of redemption? Eternal redemption. That means an eternal payment. This payment that he made was an eternal payment. In other words, never has to be done again. The reason Christ only had to die once for mankind is because it is appointed unto every man once to die and after this the judgment because man only dies once.

Christ only had to die for you once. Then you notice up there in verse 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal spirit offered himself without spot? And then he talks about the eternal, eternal spirit, eternal inheritance in the last verse of verse 15. Now look there in chapter 10, chapter 10, and understand that the law was a, well it was a picture of something that was going to come. In verse 1, for the law having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things can never with those sacrifices, which they offered year by year continually made the comers there unto what?

You couldn’t do it. He’s referring to the Old Testament and all the sacrifices that were made. It never paid for sin and it never made anybody perfect. So if the law did not save anybody, why would you want to put people under the law? It can’t make the the commerce perfect. So being under law can’t save you, it can only condemn you. And this is what was going on in the church there in Galatia. Then he says, if it did work, if it did work, he says in verse 2, for then would they not have ceased to be offered?

Because that the worshipers, once purge, should have had no more contents of sins. But in those sacrifices, there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. They had to do the same thing over and over and over again. So when people tell you that you have to continually, you got to go to church, but not one time, you have to keep doing it. And you got to give, But you gotta keep giving. Well, how long long long long you live?

And so if you’ve got to clean up your life, well, you’ve got to keep cleaning up your life. You’ve got to turn from your sin. You’ve got to keep turning from your sin. Says there’s no end to it. And you keep doing all these things and all these things. And it doesn’t save you. It doesn’t take away anything. It doesn’t make you any better. It means you become a religious hypocrite or a Pharisee thinking that you’re righteous in your own eyes and it just will not work that away.

That’s why in chapter 10, and you have verse 10, 12, and then you’re going to be able to do it. 14, three great verses. Look at these three great verses and we’ll go back. In verse 10, by the which will we are sanctified, that means we may pure and holy and set apart through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ. What’s those next three words? Once for all. Only has to be done once. Look in verse 12. But this man referring to Christ, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for how long?

Forever set down on the right hand of God. Now the door is done, it’s finished. This man Christ after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever. Then looking verse 14, 4 by one offer and he hath, now we finally see how we’re getting perfect because of the payment Christ made on the cross, but He paid for my sins. One offering He has perfected for how long? Forever, then that are sanctified. When you trusted Christ as your Savior, you were made pure and holy and set apart, you’re good to go.

That’s right, if I trust Christ right now, okay, all my sins are paid. In God’s eyes, I’m good to go. I’m as perfect and as righteous as God in His eyes. You don’t know what? See, what does the same look like, well, this is what it looks like. Now this is my flesh that you see. You ought to see that good looking fellow on the inside of this body. You didn’t know there was a 17-year-old teenage boy on the inside of this body struggling to get out.

All right, now go back here to your notes. And note down at the last three lines of three statements here, little paragraph, to be raised again for our justification. Means a Christ had to come back from the dead as proof that the payment was not only made but accepted by the Father. In order for the payment to be put to our account imputed when we believe that He did it for us. Now I was told that this put into your account or imputed is a accounting term that you credit something.

You put it to that person’s account. It’s It’s like if I, you know, I got a debt, I’m in a red for half a million dollars and lo and behold, here comes Trent and he put a million dollars in my account. See, that debt, that’s nothing because I got enough in here to cover that. And then I got enough, I can still go into debt a little bit more because I still got nothing in there in the escrow. So when Christ died on the cross for me, is it better that I trust the Lord at a young age?

Well, I think So I’d like that much better. I’d be a lot safer because somebody might not have told me about the Lord. But just think, I’ve lived 76 years. And let’s say I never trust the Lord. If I trust the Lord today, well, would He have paid for everything that I’ve done? And people have no trouble with that. Is that, well, when you get saved, you can’t do the next ones. You’re not supposed to do that. Well, wait a minute, when Christ died, how many of these were in the future too?

they were all in the future. All of my sins were in the future. So he died and paid for all of my sins. And so when I accept that payment, I have a payment for all my sins. And I’m going to have it. So the payment for sin, the penalty, the punishment, I’ll never have to go to hell. Because God loves me that much. Now look at the last part down here. Believing on Christ, accepting Christ, or trusting Christ, it all means the same thing.

Don’t get into the great big discussions of people, well, what’s the difference? Just trust Christ’s Savior and let it go. It means you believe that the payment he made on the cross was not only acceptable to God, but was acceptable to you. This means that you cease to labor and rest in what Christ has provided. See, I’m no longer trying to earn my way to heaven. I don’t worry about going to church to go to heaven. I don’t have to keep the 10 commandments on the bathe.

I don’t have to give money for offering. I don’t give the church. I don’t have to do any of that. Because my going to heaven depends about what Christ did for me. I serve the Lord because I want to. I’m thankful for what He’s done for me. I don’t know how long I’m gonna live here. Sometimes I feel like I’m ready to go. And then sometimes I feel like, well, another 50 years when hurt. It gets as much done as I possibly can.

So God is good. Look at the last line. Eternal life. It cannot come until there is justification. It means you’ve got to be declared righteous. He cannot give eternal life to the lost man. Justification cannot come without an acceptance of the payment. His payment has to be put to my account and nor have him to justify me. Then he can declare me righteous, give me that free gift of everlasting life. There’s just the order to this and I like to keep it that way because Romans chapter 4 kind of puts it in that little series there for you.

Alrighty, look up here. Letting this hand represent you and me and Walnut represent sin. We all have sin on us. Now man’s always been in the same situation. I mean, Adam was the same way. Moses was the same way. Abraham, they were all the same way. God loves them. God hate their sin, but they were all sinners. Then they all did things wrong. They all needed to be saved. And so, well, Christ isn’t coming yet. So they were told about the payment that would be made.

And would you believe that the Messiah Christ is going to come into the world? And because He loves us and He’s going to take all of our sin, He’s going to pay for it on the cross and He’s going to come back from the dead. And all we have to do is believe that He’s going to do it and He’ll save us now. And we can know we’re going to happen because of what He’s going to do. So they were saved on credit.

You ever heard of women’s leeway plan at places where you go to get some people used to do that all the time, you know, they have it on leeway and they pay fifty cents a week for it until Christmas time or something like that. No, I’ve never done that. But I’ve heard that women do stuff like that on the leeway. Trent, listen to what I’m saying, don’t let your wife get started on leeway plans and don’t, don’t, don’t do that.

But this hand ribbons in Christ, he was the Lord, came into the world because he loves us, hates our sin because it separates from him. So Jesus Christ took the sin, paid for it on the cross and came back from the dead, and said that if we believe they did it for us, it put this payment on account. And we get to go to heaven on what Christ did for us. And that is good news. And that’s the best news in all the world.

Let’s pray, show him. It has by nice clothes. I’m going to ask you that are watching by internet. If you have never trusted Christ as your Savior, it would get you the free gift of everlasting life. If you trust Christ as your Savior, God said He would save you and you wouldn’t have to go to hell. You can know that you’re going to heaven and you can know it right now because He said, either believe it to me, half.

The present ends right now, half everlasting life. So friend, why don’t you right now trust Christ as your Savior? We’re not talking about trusting the Church or trusting the Church, you just trust the Lord. And if you’re making that decision right on the screen, you say, yes, I’ll trust Christ as my Savior. I pray that you would. Best news in in all the world. Father, we thank again for your blessings. Thank you for this time to study your work and advice.
