So tonight, end of the regulations, And if you will, turn in your Bible there to the book of Galatians in chapter 1, and we will read these verses one more time. Starting in verse 1, Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised him from the dead. and all the brethren which are with me unto the churches of Galatia, grace be to you and peace from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father, the whom be glory forever and ever, amen.

Now, this is the beginning of the book the book and kind of gives us an idea a little bit of what some of these things going on here. But if you’ll look there in your notes where we have number one what is an apostle? It is a sent one, a delegate, a messenger. Appostal is from the word apostolo but it’s two words and that’s Miss Belter’s APO. A lot of time whenever I’m talking into a thing, it doesn’t. And I forget to go back and correct it.

But anyway, I mean, from and still meaning to send, from the Lord and sent out from Him. So we have an apostle, but we often say that they have to meet certain criterias. And those are the three things. We sent personally by Jesus Christ himself, being eyewitness of Christ after his resurrection, and also to be able to do the signs and miracles and so forth, which is mentioned in the book of Acts in chapter two. But what I want you to do is turn near in your Bible to the book of Hebrews in chapter two.

Look there in Hebrews in chapter two, because when you study the book of Mark towards the end, it says that they went about producing certain signs and miracles, and it was the validity of the message. So God enabled them to be able to preach and have these signs and so forth. But remember signs were for the Jewish people. And so here in the book of Hebrews in chapter 2, it makes the statement here in verse 3, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first begin to be spoken by the Lord?

So you’re going all the way back to the Lord. and talk about the salvation that goes back to the Lord. And then he says, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us that heard them, confirmed unto us by them that heard them. So you got this generation that passed on to the next generation from them. And it says in verse 4, God also bearing them witness both with signs and wonders and with divers miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to His own will.

But it was given to confirm the word that was given. And if you turn to the book of Mark chapter 16, you’ll find that that is also mentioned again, confirming the word which they produced in miracles and so forth. So these miracles were for a reason, and there were certain people that had them. Not everybody was able to do all these miracles. So turn very quickly to the book of Mark chapter 16. The book of Mark chapter 16.

And you’ll see that in verse 17 where it made this statement. And this is on page 10, 69. You got Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. But here in the book of Mark chapter 16 verse 17, these signs shall follow them that believe. And my name shall they cast out devils. They shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up deadly serpents. If they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.

and that’s what he had promised then in verse 19. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, sat on the right hand of God, and they that he told us to went forth and preached everywhere the Lord working with them and confirming the word with signs following. So by the time mark was already written, this was already past tense, the work had already been done. And so it was not passed on by the apostolic church, even though they claimed that they are in the line of secession of the apostles.

That is not true. I got some stories to tell on that, but not tonight. So in your notes there, you’ll notice at number two, we talked about how that he got his message, the gospel that he had, he was not sent by men. He didn’t get the message from man, He got it from the Lord. He got the gospel from Christ. He got the charge to go forth from Christ. And so he was sent by Christ in verse three, but by Jesus Christ.

And there’s some of these things here. You can chance, you can look at some of these. And I’ll say these notes in a lot more detail than what I’ll be able to do tonight. Now, in number four there, you’ll notice, and God the Father. I want you to take and go back to the book of Galatians in your Bible, because now this is written to all the brethren, which are with me says, and all the brethren from unto the churches of Galatia.

Now remember this is a gongs that come down, barbarians are settled in the place called Turkey today, but they were individuals where they went, started churches in Antioch and Iconium, and Derby and so forth. And then he says in verse three, or number, yeah, verse three, talking about the word grace. And you’ll notice that in your notes there, I have at number six, he considered himself to be the least of all the apostles, but also he considered himself to be the chief of all the sinners.

He was, as he matured in the Lord, He humbled himself more and more. The chief of all the sinners, and the worst he’s the worst he was. Least of all the apostles. Paul did not do much to, well, braggle himself and exalt himself, but he was a humble man. And God had to humble him because of all the visions and revelations that God had given to him, lest he be exalted above measure. So God gave him a thorn in the flesh.

It wasn’t his wife, it could’ve been anything. But we believe it could’ve been a messenger of Satan, somebody or maybe a number that followed him around and every time he would priest, there’s always somebody to stir up the crowd, the cause trouble and these Judaizers would follow him around and just cause him nothing but headache. It’s kind of like some of the politicians that go around and then you have some that come from the other side and they come there to heckle them.

And Paul had to go through all of that. and they even stirred up the people and then they wanted to stone them. And outside the city of Melissa, they did. They took them out and they stone Paul. And so you said, well, I wanna be dislike Paul. Yeah, you better think about this. I mean, I wanna do it that bad. But anyway, if you’ll notice down in your notes, number three, verse three, grace is a Greek word of salutation and peace.

Shalom is the Hebrew word of salutation. So they’d always say grace and peace be unto you. But it hits everybody. Now when we went to Israel, they always say, Shalom, Malecom, Malecom, Shalom, peace be unto you. And they would even sang the song, Shalom, Malecom. I don’t know if anybody remember that, but we were on the thing and they would sing. But it was a greeting and so to the Jews and also to the Greek and that had believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, it was agreed into both of them.

Now look at number one, it is by the faithfulness of Christ who keep us saved. We are not saved because of any works that we have done or any good works that we will continue to do. We were saved by Christ and we were kept saved by His faithfulness to His Word, and He said He’ll never cast us out, so I don’t have to worry about being casted. He said He’ll never lose me, so I never have to worry about being lost.

He says nobody can plug me out of my Father’s hands, so I never have to worry about that. So I have eternal life, and so there is a foundation that we have. And that’s why he says in 2 Timothy chapter 2 and verse 19, but we have this evidence that we need. You see, we have the assurance that God knoweth them that are His and He says that we are the children of God and He knows His children. So the foundation of being saved by grace through faith in what Jesus Christ did on the cross for us, we’ll see the Judaizers, they want to come in and destroy several things and we’ll take a look at that because what they want to do is destroy our foundation which is faith in Christ the gospel of grace and so they want to not only destroy a foundation but it causes you mental disturbance that’s

why they call it be perverting the gospel troubling you and causing us to be unstable in what we believe. You see when you’re not sure anymore about what you believe or if it’s the truth and you begin to have questions and so they were casting down upon the apostleship of the Apostle Paul. Now look down at the bottom of your page there. You’ll notice that number three grace always precedes peace. Peace with God because only way we can have peace with God is because we have peace of God because of the grace of God.

You see when we trusted Christ as our Savior we are no longer at war with God. The sin has been removed. We’re not enemies of God. Now we’re His children, we’re going to heaven when we die but we need to keep that in mind. You look at the next statement, let us see, the wrath of God is upon them that do not believe. John 3. 36, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. The flood was the wrath of God and God gave grace to Noah afterwards after the flood, Noah had peace.

So we have this terminology that’s used in the scripture. And so a lot of time we see each other, we want peace beyond you. In the world of how you don’t have a good day. And we often say that have a good day and sometime I leave a restaurant and they say well have a good one. Good what? They never finished the sentence but I know what they’re talking about so that’s all right. So look on the back of that page of your notes, page two.

You’ll You notice that in verse four, when he talks about who gave himself four hour sins. Christ gave himself four hour sins. So he paid four hour sins. If you understand that and believe that, say then you don’t have to be put under the law, which is what the legalistic Judaizers were trying to do. Trying to get them to say you gotta be able to keep the law to be saved and keep the law to stay saved, then where is your happiness?

Where is your joke? that it strips that away from you. It strips away the grace, it strips away the peace, and it causes nothing but emotional disturbance. It troubles the mind. Now you begin to wonder, well, am I really saved? Anytime you have to look at your works to prove that you’re saved and have security, you got problems, and that’s what it does. But remember, that’s the message of the devil. And so he has his own little ministers that twist the gospel and we’re supposed to take a strong stand on that.

So number one there is that the penalty of sin has been paid for by the death of Christ. Number two, when he talks about invulations in chapter five, walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Now you still have the lust of the flesh and that’s the power of sin in your life. Well then you have to have something strong enough to take care of that. So whenever you yield to the Lord, the Holy Spirit within you has more power than the lust of the flesh has or the sinful nature.

And it only works for you. It only is a value to you is if you walk in the spirit, if you yield yourself to the Lord, then you can have the power that you need over sin in your life. And so that’s so that you can have power in your life over the sinful nature, because we all have a sinful nature. And you by yourself, you cannot have victory in your Christian life. So as long as you will study the Word of God and trust the Word of God and lean on the Word of God and do what the Word of God says, you’ll be surprised if you get so busy doing what God says to do, you won’t have time to get in trouble.

Always spend time doing the things that you’ve proposed. Learn to schedule your life. Schedule your time. And therefore, if you didn’t schedule time to get in trouble, then now you’re gonna get in trouble. You didn’t schedule it. I got this whole day to get in trouble. I schedule every night to get in trouble. Don’t don’t don’t don’t schedule it. And that’s what some people make the mistake and that’s what they do. Number three, he might deliver us from this present world.

Now he hasn’t delivered us from this present world yet, but he is delivering us from the power of sin in this world. But one day we know he’ll deliver us from the present world. very present world itself. And so that is to be removed from the presence of sin in this world. And this is not new. You’ve heard these things here before, these points. Now look at letter E. Verse 5, glory is anything that calls for praise. If you are having a bad day, and sometimes we do.

Just stop. Think of things you can praise God for. Don’t think about all the things going wrong. That really gets you down. Think about the things that are going good. You said, nothing’s going good in my life. Boy, some people really get down. But remember, Jonah, he was down in the mouth. He came out all right. So you’re going to get down at times, just know that and understand that. But learn how to, sorry, praise the Lord. Think in the Lord, how good he’s been to you.

And if he’s not good to you today, he was yesterday. Think about something yesterday that he was good for and learn to praise the Lord. Praise the Lord is honoring God. Praise the Lord brings glory to God, because how can you praise the Lord without glorifying Him? That pleases God. So you do that. Now, when you talk about pleasing God, that means you’re not trying to live your life just to please man. Now look what he says in Galatians chapter one, look at verse 10, look there in verse 10.

For do I now persuade men or a God? Do I seek to please men? For if I yet please men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Paul did not do what he did to make people happy. He wanted to please God. And in your life, this is why he takes a stand for these people because he can see that somebody is leading them the wrong way. So because he loves the people, he’s gonna do what God wants him to do and take a strong stand.

And that’s what he was doing. Because he wants to please God, he’ll tell the people the truth. And somewhere in this book, he says, am I your enemy because I tell you the truth? just look at that verse over there real quick and you’ll see that looking in Galatians chapter four and verse 16. He says, am I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? I did my dead level best this morning to speak some truth. It might not have said too well with every body.

I don’t know. I only had one person who said they weren’t shaking my hand, then they laughed and shook my hand anyway. But I told him, I said, we need to go check I mean, people would not decide door, have no clue. But see that verse? And so he says, they in verse seven, they zealously affect you, but not well. Yeah, they would exclude you that you might affect them. In other words, they’re only using you. They don’t really care about you here in these verses.

Now, I want you to see this. In verse 19, now what’s this? My little children. So there’s not a question whether he believes or saved or not. He knows they are. He’s going to let them to the Lord. He says, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. So it’s one thing to be a child of God, another thing to have Christ formed in you. The reason we teach people the word of God so they can mature and be like little Christians, little Christ, like you can be like Christ.

Your goal in life is not to be like some Hollywood star, some movie star, some blah, blah, blah, blah, you’re golden life, not be like somebody in this metal junk and all the stuff they do with the teenagers and none on it. You and I are supposed to be like Christ. And that’s why studying the word of God and walking in the spirit, you develop yourself into being like Christ. And that’s why it’s mentioned in the book of Galatians, that’s mentioned in the book of Ephesians, ryu talking about you have not so learned Christ, but when you learn Christ so walk in him.

So there’s a way that God wants us to live. Now go back to Galatians and chapter 1. Now you’ll notice at the bottom of your page you’re in your notes, Galatians chapter 1 verse 6 through 9. Now we read this before and went through part of these scriptures. But notice That’s what we have here. And verse 6 and 7 Paul says, I marvel that you’re so soon. Remove from him that called you into the grace of Christ into another gospel.

But there is not another gospel. He says in verse 7, which is not a, but there be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ. Perverting the gospel, changing the gospel and the only way you can change the gospel of grace you have to add works to it. And when you add works to it, that troubles people because that causes them to wonder and question and doubt their own salvation. Because you have to. Because now who’s the judge of whether you’re really saved or not?

Well, I know I’m really saved. Wow, because I’m going to church. Okay, well what if I lay out a couple weeks? No, not you’re not going to. Well, how do you know you’re going to the right church? Now you’ve got to give money, okay? Now exactly how much do you have to give? And what if you’re a penny short? Would God getveland if he gave too much? Let’s try it and not. So it doesn’t matter what the cause is going to be if it comes from work, going to produce the“UTC thing.mingham you’re going to have questions and doubts.!, because you’re not God’s God’s God’s God’s God’s God.

Not only of yourself, but now you get out your mind to find glass and you become a fruit in specter. See, well, if not, do you find any fruit in somebody else’s life? Oh, I know you’re not saved because look what you’re doing. Look how you’re living. Where somebody slips and says a bad word, huh, that means you’re lost. Aren’t you glad you’re not saved because you obey a bunch of rules and regulations? I’m glad. I’m glad it’s, the other thing is free, and that I have eternal life, I’m going to heaven when I die, because of how good God’s been to me.

And yet he says that he’ll never cast us out, and never loses, because our foundation is Christ. And so they’re destroying the salvation message, then they destroy Christ in your vision, because you’re not gonna only look to Christ now. Now you’ve also gotta look at your life. You gotta, it’s like a supplement. You gotta look at this too. So I’m not saved because of what he said. I know I’m saved because of what I do. I’ve got a conflict.

Now which one do you trust the most? The word of God or your life? And you’re gonna have troubles. Now look down here at your notes. And number one, God called you by grace. There’s scriptures for that. Matthew nine, because God did not call the righteous to repentance, but he calls sinners. In other words, he wants everybody to be saved. God’s not one of the any should perish, but there’s some people that don’t think they’re sinners. There’s some people think they’re righteous enough.

So the next verse in Matthew 22, 14, Saul talks about that many are called and fewer chosen. Now if Calvinism was true, then everybody he called must get saved. But this verse contradicts Calvinism because many are called, God calls everybody through the power of the gospel, but God only chose to save those that will believe the gospel. So you see, you’ve got a choice. People have choices. And so he says here at number two, removing themselves from the gospel of grace.

Can a believer remove himself from grace? Well, we’ll discuss that later when we get over to chapter five. And it talks about, you know, being steadfast in the gospel and being steadfast in not being entangled again with that yoke of bondage and so on. But look at the next statement here. You have apostasy and heresy. Apostasy, see, there’s people who know the truth, but move away from the truth. They apostasize, they move away from the truth. But then there’s heretics that maybe he never know the truth and they teach an outright lies and contradiction to what the truth is.

So there’s some people who learn truth and move from it and there’s other people who don’t know what it is and they’re a heretic and totally teach that which is false. So a person who is an apostate can teach false doctrine. And so there’s people who move away from the guy. That’s why he says, I, Marvin, you’re so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ. And so that’s why Paul is right in the book of Galatians.

So they could see they’re troubling you and they’re having a false message, but they are under a curse. They’re under a curse. And we’ll look at that in just a second here, but notice what he says here in number three. The true gospel is of grace through faith and was given to them by Paul. The false gospel is of works and is another gospel and was given by the Judaizers. Another, heterosin, allos, we’ve mentioned that before. Heteros, a different kind.

There is not another gospel of a different kind. There’s not another gospel of the same kind. I can have the same kind of a pen, but it could have different writing on it, but it’s the same kind. That there’s not even another other one when you talk about it, there’s not another gospel, but it has a different substance. There’s another gospel and you say it by faith, but you had to believe a different set of ingredients. Now there’s not one like that, and there’s not another one that you add works to it.

That’s totally different, no. There’s only one gospel. And we’re all saved the exact same way. Look at the top of the next page, page three. Look at the top of the page there. There really is not another gospel. Gospel means good news and it falls, you can have a lot of good news about a lot of different things, but we’re talking about the gospel salvation that saves us from hell. And a false gospel, one that teaches works of any kind is bad news.

It is bad because it doesn’t satisfy the penalty for sin. You see, outside of Christ, and what Christ did, there’s nothing that a man or an angel can do for us that would satisfy the demand for a death payment. You see, all the good works should do. There’s nothing there that you can do that could cause death to pay for the sin. So there’s no way for a man to save himself. We need someone to pay for our sins.

And it has nothing to do with our good work, bad works. It’s we have sinned and therefore we have a death payment. So Christ coming in paying for the sin debt is what I needed to go to heaven. You see, I’m a sinner and you’re a sinner, we’re all sinners and we’re all going to hell. And so I liked a little cartoon that I saw recently. Here’s, and we’ve been talking about knowing the flood. And here’s the art. And here’s all these people that come and they’re screaming at the door and they’re coming up the side of the art and Noah opens up the thing and he looks at him and he says, God has a wonderful plan for your life.

Because that’s the message of something. Now, there’s people who need to be saved and say God has a wonderful plan for your life. They’re on the outside, the water’s rising and the flood’s coming down upon them and God has a wonderful plan for your life. Now, do you think they want to stop from that? What is God’s wonderful plan for my life? Now, is that what they need or they need salvation? They need salvation. They needed to have believed what Noah had preached, so they got into the ark.

But God shut the door. And so Noah was not looking out of the window. But look here at the top of the page, where it says something that troubles you is referring to the mental anxiety of having to keep or to maintain good works and the lack of assurance that it can cause, because it causes you to be insecure. Anytime you add work to the gospel, you can’t be sure if you’re gonna make it or not. But if it’s by grace, means if it’s free, then everybody can know that.

If God will never cash-shot an evolution, you can know that from this point on, I’m going to heaven when I die. I don’t have to ever worry about it again. Now, doesn’t that bring more peace than you having to worry about whether or not I’m gonna make it or not if I’m good enough or not? Now, by grace alone. Look at the next statement there. To pervert the gospel of Christ, pervert literally means to transform into something of an opposite character.

Adding works to the gospel changes the character of the gospel, it makes it void. Which is not another, it can’t save. That’s why when you add works to the gospel, the gospel no longer gospel. When you add works to it, it changes its character. and therefore it’s not a salvation message. And some people don’t see it, they don’t understand it, but I pray that y’all don’t do the good things.
