Alright, let’s go to the book of Galatians. The book of Galatians, what chapter? chapter three. That’s a good chapter. Well, let’s start in verse 10 and we’ll read down to verse 14. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the blessing. No, you’re under the curse. Because see, here we’re talking about being justified before God for salvation. So anybody who tries to keep the law in order to be just with God, God says you’re under a curse because the law only condends.

It doesn’t promise you life. It doesn’t promise you we turn life if you keep the law. But the law was given to let us know when we have broken God’s law, broken God’s will and the transgression of the law. So he says here in verse 10, for it is written, cursed is everyone that that continue with not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. If you’re gonna keep the law to go to heaven, you’ll have to be perfect.

From win to win. From birth to you die. Did you get late started? Did you get started right away or did you wait a couple of years? Well, what about those sins that you committed when you were still in the crib? You said nobody sends that early. Can you do that and deceive your parents? And all you want to be is held. They think, well, he wants another bottle. All he wants is diaper changed. And all he wants to do is train you to pick him up whenever he hollers.

Deception early. That’s why whenever I was born, first thing I remember being behind bars and hitting the bottle. Did you get that grace? When you laugh at my jokes, that means I know you got it. And so I’m always looking around to see if anybody didn’t laugh because I know they don’t get it. In verse 11, but that no man is justified in the law or by the law in the sight of God. No man is justified by the law in the sight of God.

For it’s heaven, the just shall live by faith. So we’re talking about being justified before God for righteousness, then no man can be justified by his works. His works cannot save him. So he says here, for the law is the not of faith, but the man that doeth them shall live in them. See, God says he’s gonna justify you by faith. The law is not of faith. So God cannot justify anybody by his works because God says you have to be saved by faith, not by your works.

And that’s why he’s going all the way back to Abraham to establish his foundation. And then he says here in verse 13, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, been made a curse for us, for it is written, curse it as everyone that hangeth on a tree. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. So the blessing of Abraham can’t come on us, except Jesus died because if the wages of sin is death, than something that has to pay for my sins, has to be something that was alive.

That’s when the Old Testament, they use an animal and it could either be a beast or it could be a file of the air, but it has to die. Something that’s innocent, shed the blood. The life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to you upon the altars of making a tummy for your soul. Leviticus 17 and verse 11. So now take Take your notes and look at… The very first point, the curse of the law versus the blessings of grace.

So in these few little verses we talk about where it talks about the blessing and the curse. And that’s why in verse 9, it talked about being blessed with faithful Abraham. Abraham was blessed in what way? Well, by God given him his righteousness, by faith alone. Abraham did not have to keep the law because the law was even given. And all he did is would believe what God said and God justified him, not by his works but by faith, the law.

And so because of the blessing coming upon Abraham, if we’ll believe by faith that we can be justified, declared righteous the same way Abraham was. And the reason this is brought out is because, see, the legalistic Judaizers, legalistic means they’re trying to put them back under the law, and they were Jewish and is of good possibility. They may have known the Lord. But they were teaching false doctrine, putting people back under the law. That’s why he said, I marvel, except to one verse eight, that you’re so soon removed from him from the gospel into another gospel, which is not another, but there would be some who would trouble you and pervert the gospel.

So the only way you can pervert the gospel of grace is add works to it. So man cannot save himself by his works. If he goes back under the law to try to save himself, then yet places just not against the curse. And then you’ll tell people, lost people, that’s an accursed message. You’re not supposed to do that. So he says there in verse 13, he said he He was made a curse for us, for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree.

For the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. This is showing you the difference of the law and faith. Nobody has ever been saved by keeping the law, by trying to earn their way to heaven by their good deeds. the law lets us know it requires perfection and nobody keeps it perfectly. So that’s why you have to have a blood sacrifice. So let’s just pretend for a moment.

Let’s take all the people who believe that, well, when I trust Christ as my Savior Christ, pay for all my sins up to the day I trust the Lord. Now what do I do about these other ones? Now there There can be no continual salvation in most people’s minds if they have to keep themselves saved by their works. Okay, let’s say they don’t and they sin against God. Now because of their sin, what are they going to use as a sacrifice?

What is this blood sacrifice now they’re going to use to pay for the sins that Christ didn’t pay for? If you only pay for the ones up to the time you believe. What about all these risks? Well, if God really loves me and really wants me to go to heaven, and there’s a possibility I can lose my salvation in the future, well, God really loves me. I’ve already trusted my sakes. Why don’t you go ahead and take me home before I lose my salvation?

Huh? Well, I said he’d wait until I lost it. I mean, I got it now. I’m saved. I’m good to go. And the longer God lets me live, the greater the possibilities of me messing up. Right? Well then he ought to go ahead and take me on home now. Well I am saved, I’m good to go. Because you see, if a person believe that of Christ only paid for the sins up to the time they trust the Lord, or then they go ahead and they live a couple of days, I’ll get now I committed a sin.

All right now, how you gonna pay for it? You see, under the law, they had to pay for their sins at the temple. Okay, where’s the temple? You have to take it, see to the priest. and he has to cut the throat, and then you’ve got to have a burn offering, a sin offering, a meal offering, and a hundred offering, so that kind of thing. But he’s got to, what are you going to do? We don’t have a temple, we can’t sacrifice anything.

Who am I going to sacrifice? My kids. No. What are you going to use? Who’s going to be that blood sacrifice? Remember, without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin. cannot be taken away without the shed in the blood. Something innocent has to die. So that’s when we start wiping out everybody here and after a while we won’t have many people in our church at all. So let’s move right along. Now look there in your notes under number one, redeemed to purchase or to buy, to pay with the price, a ransom.

And usage spiritually means to purchase a slave for the purpose of setting them free. Now they could buy something and keep it. And so they can be redeemed, bought back. But usually they were free before they were put as a slave, and then as a slave, okay now somebody paid your debt, and then you can go free. But under the law, well if they loved their master so much, they could take them to a post, and they would take a real hot iron and put a hole through your ear.

And by doing that they know that you are a voluntary love slave. slave. You chose to be a slave to the master because you didn’t want to be free. You wanted to serve that master until the day you died. So your wife and your children all belong to the master. But that’s a choice that you had to make. So this is why in the 40 of some, the Bible says concerning Christ who had opened his ears. It means that Jesus Christ, it didn’t really bore his ear.

He was a love slave of his father. And this is the same word, the Greek word, do-loss mentioned in the book of Ephesians in chapter 4 and verse 1, we’re talking about a prisoner of the Lord. Means he was a like a love slave of the Lord. This is what every child of God should do. We should be a love slave of the Lord because he has redeemed us and set us free. Then we voluntarily choose, I want to serve the Lord for the rest of my life.

And so that’s when you read to 40 of Psalm next time, you look where he talks about, he made a a hole in his ear. But anyway, you can do that later. Don’t do it now. So free from the law, never to be condemned again. Now, that’s why in John chapter 5, you go over to John chapter 5, you need to see this. In John chapter 5, Jesus is speaking and this is what he has to say. Look at verse 24, when we talk about being redeemed, non-redeemed, non-redeemed, that means to be eternally secure.

Because whenever you are redeemed, it means that your total bill was paid. There is no more payment that needs to be made. You have been redeemed. In other words, somebody else can’t take possession of you until that total debt has been paid. So if Christ paid my full debt, who do I belong to? I belong to the one who paid my debt. I belong to the Lord. That’s why in 1 Corinthians in chapter 6, what? No, you’re not that you are the temple of the living God.

And therefore, he says glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are gods, because it belongs to the Lord, your body belongs to God. He bought and paid for you. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are gods. Now look here in the book of John in chapter 5, and look in verse 24, very, very truthfully, truthfully. I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believe it on him that sent me.

God sent him Jesus Christ to redeem me means to pay my debt. And whenever we believe that he paid my debt, he says, half ever lasting life. Now, when do you, when does God give me this everlasting life? The moment I die. When do I get it? The moment I believe. Now look at the next part of the verse. Half everlasting life, that’s present in you have it right now. Half everlasting life means I’m free from the law. I’m free from the law.

My debt’s been paid. My debt was paid 2,000 years ago, but I only accepted that payment. Well, in 1960. So for 58 years I have not had a payment to make. And for the rest of my life I won’t have a debt to pay. Why? Because I’ve been redeemed. A full total payment has been made for all of my sins. And if he doesn’t come back and make another payment, it had to have included my future sins as well.

Because how many of my sins were in the future when Christ died? All of them. Now, Look at the last part of this verse. Hat everlasting life and shall not, shall not. That’s the future tense, shall not in the future, shall not come and do condemnation. Why? Because there’s no law to condemn me. I’m, I died. The law can’t condemn a dead man. Well, when did I die? When I accepted Christ’s death from mine. The law satisfied, I paid my debt.

I’m free to go. and in the future I can never be condemned again. So why would I want to have somebody put me back under the law that I have been redeemed from just so I can go back into debt? Now I would have to try to keep the law and try to keep paying my debt. And it’s already been done. See how foolish that is. But there’s people that are actually teaching people this and they just don’t get it.

And it’s passed. Get that. See where it says it? And it’s passed from death on the lights. When did that happen? The moment you trusted Christ as your Savior and you died. You already have died and now you have a newness of life. God has given you eternal life. So as far as God is concerned, the law can’t touch me. I cannot be condemned in the future. Why? Because I won’t have any sins to pay for in the future.

Only way I can be condemned in the future is to have some sins that he never paid for. All right, go back to the book, Galatians. Back to Galatians. And you’ll notice there, letter A, Christ hath redeemed. This is passage, a finished act performed in the past, redemption of the purchase possession. This is right when you get a chance. So you reach chapter one of Ephesians verse 13 and 14. Those two verses go together and it says about, you know, the gospel of Christ in whom we have been saved and sealed by the Holy Spirit and we have the indwelling Holy Spirit for the purchase possession.

See, this body of mine has already been paid, my new body, He goes with my new birth. It’s already been paid for it. I just haven’t claimed it yet. I haven’t got my new body because of my new birth. I got my new birth right now. My new birth has to live in the same old sinful body. But one of these days I’m going to get my new body because of my new birth. Don’t you all got that? And that’s called the redemption of the body in Romans chapter 8.

So the body is going to be redeemed in a sense I’m going to be able to claim a new body, but I can’t get it yet. So I’ve got to wait a little while. Now, the Bible says in Ephesians chapter 4, it talks about grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby you are sealed until, until when? To the Martenoon. Well, if that was true, then I know I’m sealed until the tomorrow at noon. I’m good to go until then, but a A minute later, it’s all over.

What if it says, I’m sealed until 20 years from now? It was like, well, it’s gotta be sealed. I’m good to go for 20 years. But what did the book say? Until the day of redemption. Talking about the body is going to be redeemed. So I am secure. I have eternal security because I have been sealed until the day of the purchase possession, said, my body is going to be changed in a moment, the twinkling of an eye, and I’m going to be caught up to meet the Lord in the ear.

So I got another body that I’m going to get. So that tells me when I trust the Lord who first trusted in Christ, and then I’m going to get my new body. But I haven’t got my new body to go with my new birth yet, but it’s coming. Now look at the next statement. I’ll put it in bowl there, where have the principle of redemption and the verses that teach it are verses on eternal security. Just like I taught one class about justification, when you understand that once you have been justified, you cannot in any way shape or form be unjustified when God has declared you righteous.

All right, Dave passes. I declare you unrighteous. No, I declare you righteous. And now I declare you unrighteous. A weak, you’re still unrighteous. The Bible says that when you’re saved, you’re saved from something to something. You know, from hell, because you’re going to get saved, you’ve got to get saved from something. Or if you get saved from something, you’ve got to be saved to something. To an inheritance that’s incorruptible and undefiled, that faith if not a way reserved, where?

In heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God because of your faith in Christ for your salvation. So you are eternally secure. God has a reservation already made for you. When the missionaries came here, we already had their rooms reserved. So when they got here, they had a room already for them. We had to pay for it, but I mean they had a room already reserved. Well now God got a reservation from me in heaven. Cancel that reservation for yank.

A war in two. Well it’s just though Tom in there also. He was saved yesterday, he was coming but now he ain’t coming now because he really messed up bad. Aren’t you glad that you don’t have a reservation today and you lose it tomorrow? Reservation and so somebody said where you going to Well, I don’t know. Have you ever seen something where you had like a car payment that you’re supposed to make or let’s say for insurance and they want to take and say you missed your payment and they come and they get your car or you didn’t pay their insurance premium and so therefore it coverage has elapsed and then you go ahead and you make a payment.

It’s been reinstated. I know God I’ve never seen that before. I have. I’ve seen a lot of those at times because sometimes I forget about what I’m doing and little patience. So it is eternal security. That’s what makes the gospel such good news. Now look at the next statement. The curse of the law. What are the laws of Moses and which sacrificial law do we keep? Now get this, this will blow your mind. If you have to keep the law, okay?

The law of burn offering, the sin offering, the meat offering, trespass offering, the peace offering, the consecration offering, the plague of leprosy offering, which often must include beast or foul. So if you wanna keep the law and you sin, well, if Christ’s death on the cross is not sufficient for all of your sins and it still requires a blood sacrifice, well, it’s either gonna have to be a beast or a foul or you take a peek. How you doing?

Aren’t you glad that when Jesus died on the cross, he was sufficient for all of my sins? And this is why Paul is trying to get them to see. You’re trying to place yourself back on the law. What’s your sacrifice gonna be? What’s gonna pay for those future sins? And that’s right in chapter two. He talks about if we seek justification, then you’re saying you’re not now justified. You’re seeking to be righteous means you’re not righteous now. But once you trust Christ to save it, you have eternal life.

Then look at number two there. There are moral laws like the Ten Commandments and civil, like capital punishment, civil laws. You got ceremonial laws. All these are elements of the mosaic law. And none of it was ever given for salvation. And the majority of the world were never under the 10 commandments because they were not Jewish. They were given to the nation of Israel on what they should and should not do and how they’re opposed to the, but does that mean nobody could get saved?

Everybody could get saved the same way by trusting Christ of Savior. There’s no two ways, but there’s also there’s natural laws. In other words, a natural law, a natural law, natural law. Why did that fall? There’s a law of gravity, it’s a law of gravity. But it’s a natural law. I didn’t have to create it. And I don’t have to worry about it. But I could like some people, I could just jump off the Empire State building. What’s gonna happen to me?

I’m gonna fly. Like you know, I got you know halfway down. Hey, so far so good. But you know you’ve got an appointment with a concrete. So the law of gravity, you can’t suspend it. But God who gave the law of gravity, he can suspend the law of gravity. And he was able to walk on water. Try it. So see, there are some laws that are impossible for man to keep. He can’t do all of those things. He can’t just make them a whole bunch of fish sandwiches.

We’ll try that for a third Sunday then. don’t bring anything. We’re gonna have, you know, fish sandwiches this Sunday. What do we need? And Jesse’s gonna wave his hand and all of a sudden there it is. You think we ought to trust that? We was gonna have a fish fry one day. So me and couple of them, we went fishing. We’re gonna catch fish so we can have a fish fry for the church. We never did have that fish fry.

The fish forgot to cooperate and they would not bite the bait. And I kept telling them, I says, as long as you got me in this boat, you’re not going to catch any fish. Because somehow or another, the devil always knows when I’m going fishing. And he tells the fish. And they said, don’t bite, Yankee’s a little You may not do it for you. And so it works somehow like that, I don’t know. But there is the law of so in reaping.

Some laws that you won’t find in the 10 commandments, but there’s a lot of law, natural laws. And so even the lost man knows about that he’s going to be judged, he needs to be righteous, and he’s not. And he doesn’t believe, he doesn’t know, but there’s natural laws. So sometimes you got to find out when he talks about those that are under the law, the whole world. So it may not be that the whole world is under that 10 commandments that they were never given, but there are other laws that man has within him that he knows right from wrong.

There is a… Right from wrong principle. To him that know if to do good and do it that not to him, it is sin. So don’t get into big debates with somebody over, well, which law is and all that. God requires righteousness to go to heaven and we’re not. And the law condemns us. And that’s all you need to really explain. Look down here at the next statement. Number three, who exactly is under the curse of the law? Verse 10.

And what law is Paul referring to? If it’s the Mosaic Law, does that mean that Gentiles were not under the law and therefore not under a curse? The answer of course is no. So if the Mosaic Law is Jewish, why would Paul write to the Gentiles as though they had knowledge of the Mosaic Law? The Gentiles, they had no clue about the Law of Moses. Now the Jewish people would, that’s why in the book of Romans in chapter 7, he says, I write these things to those who know the law, and And then he uses a Jewish illustration because the Jews would understand, and most Gentiles would not, but they can understand an illustration.

So there’s a illustration about the man or the woman, married, and she’s not free to marry another until that one dies and so on. So that’s the same thing with the law. You cannot be free from this law unless you pay that laws penalty. you can pay that debt penalty, then you can go free. But who wants to pay the debt penalty? And not I? Now look down at the bottom here, a little letter, A, the law of God is a standard for the righteousness of God, whereby all men are judged and would be included in the natural law.

It is universal to all men included and not limited to the Jews. Whether you’re Jew or Gentile, you’re all condemned. And we’re all under the condemnation of God. And you can read that in the book of Romans 3 and verse 19 and 20. This law is a principle that drives all of the laws, natural, eternal, mosaic law. Everybody is a sinner and the wages of sin is death. The law is holy and good and just and spiritual. There’s nothing wrong with the law.

Next page, page two. All men are condemned, unable to be kept by human effort. Nobody, regardless of who the person is, whether they were Jews or Gentiles, whatever the law principle was, no man has been able to keep the law. Now this is explained very clearly in the book of Romans in chapter two, talking about the conscience that man has. And just by looking at the world, the world, you know that there is a God. And so because you know there is a God, then you’re without excuse because the world that you see is the evidence God exists.

You see, I want some evidence. Well, that’s what you got. You are evidence. Look in the mirror. You are evidence that God exists. Anything that has design is a sign of a designer and plan of a planner and laws of a law giver and so there’s laws in our natural laws. There’s God, there’s God, you’re God.
